Ann Arbor Roller Derby is proud of all our skaters and all the amazing things they do within the community. 

Tonight, our very own Scargyle - previous league president and current Bank skater - will be one of nine speakers at TEDxYDL 2017. This series of talks centers around the theme of interdependence. As described by the TEDx website “ We are looking for great stories and big ideas that touch on the many ways that people, organisms, and ideas depend on each other and make each other stronger.”

Scargyle (known to most as Megan Foldenauer) is a certified biomedical illustrator and multimedia specialist in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan. For their talk, they will be discussing “the study of the human eye at the intersection of art and science”.

Ann Arbor Roller Derby’s C team played in Division 1 of Mitten Kitten this past weekend!

At the 2016 Mitten Kitten, the Vigis took home third in the Divison 2. In that moment, the Vigis made a goal to win D2 in 2017. Well, the Vigis practiced hard and ended up bypassing D2 all together and went into D1! 

The Vigis were seeded fourth and ended up coming home third in Division 1!

We are all so immensely proud of this team and their hard work!

Our very own Ypsilanti Vigilantes took on the Killamazoo Derby Darlins in a closed scrimmage on Sunday. The last time these two teams met up last season, the Vigis pulled away with a 229 - 209 victory. I would definitely say there has been some progress in the off season.

A big thank you to KDD for making the drive out our way for a Sunday full of roller derby!

The Ann Arbor Brawlstars kicked off their 2017 season this past Saturday against Mad Rollin’s Dairyland Dolls. It was a hard-fought game that was full of some really amazing roller derby and the Brawlstars were able to pull out the win, 180-154. 

A huge thank you to the Mad Rollin Dolls for an great evening in an awesome venue with some fantastic people!

Roller Derby fans!!!

This weekend is kind of a big deal. For the first time, the Ann Arbor Brawlstars and the Arbor Bruising Company will be playing Detroit Roller Derby in open, sanctioned bouts!

Detroit fans will be wearing black, so let's show them our Ann Arbor pride by wearing anything purple or A2D2!

What better way to spend Mother’s Day than with drag queens and Bingo?!

Arbor Bruising Company wasn’t the only Ann Arbor team to play this past weekend. The Ypsilanti Vigilantes were not messing around when they took on Eastside Derby Girls this past Sunday. The Vigis took the lead early and never let off the gas making sure to end the game with a win.

A2D2′s Arbor Bruising Company took on Windy City Rollers’ Second Wind on Saturday in what was a very back and forth game. While there were several opportunities for the Bruisers to pull ahead, Second Wind was able to maintain their momentum and end the game with a win. While the Bruisers didn’t take home a victory, they definitely left feeling good and knowing they learned a lot.

Spring is here (and hopefully to stay!). Warmer weather means people pulling themselves from the indoors and heading out into the sunshine! Need a fun activity that will get you moving and help out your local roller derby league?

Well, then you have come to the right place! Ann Arbor Roller Derby will be hosting a virtual 5k Derby Dash. What does that mean? How does one complete a 5k virtually?

A virtual 5k just means that you register for the event and then between May 15th and May 31st you need to complete the 5k. This can be done at the location of your choosing and can be finished however you prefer. You want to run the 5k? Go for it! You prefer to bike? Do that instead! Heck, you can even strap some wheels to your feet and skate the whole thing.
