Shout out to all of the people who use a mobility aid, stability device or pain relieving aid that’s hidden. The people who use knee braces, wrist braces, scoliosis and spine braces, ankle braces, ring and finger splints, neck braces, and otherwise hidden aids to help themself. You deserve a place in this community like anyone else, if you are disabled, or even if you just need these things to live a better quality of life, even if no one can see you using them because they’re inconspicuous or under clothing, you’re allowed to use what you need to help yourself and you have a place in this community.

being physically disabled is so fun because when the weather is unbearably cold, i just pull up with braces that i haven't used (nor really seen) in months. my wrist brace was in my mess of plushies, and both of my ankle braces were on the floor behind christmas gifts and clothes that still need to be put away. just a little reminder to take care of yourself during this winter weather if you have enough spoons!! <3

Well, today taught me I REALLY do need all those layers of socks with my ankle brace.
I forgot to put one of them on my bad ankle, and didn’t realize until just now when I took it off. I spent all dang day wondering why I hurt so much!

I just got my new AFOs and OH MY GOD Not having to think about repositioning my feet to the proper position every 5 minutes has been amazing. Still getting used to them but ankle pain has improved so much already. I’m so happy. I’m still getting used to how to get around in them. Stairs are so hard now that I have like zero ankle movement, so scared I’ll fall down. But worth it.
