Oh, this is a good video. In the process of solving their mystery (what’s going on with that village spawning out of nowhere?), they’ve solved a mystery I actually couldn’t solve 16 years ago (what the hell is that geological structure?).

And if watching that video makes you wonder why anime fans are placing map markers from Attack on Titan in Madagascar:

coming up w the new names was also a good exercise for my brain but just cuz i did it doesnt mean everyone has to see it

edit (realized i should explain myself):

if i localize the names:

1. i dont have to explain that -ko makes a name feminine and -o makes a name masculine and etc. youd be surprised how many ppl in this fandom dont already know those things, ive learned. i expect all gamers to be weebs or otherwise general animeheads too but thats not necessarily true

2. its not like im erasing testament’s culture, because they are swiss

but

1. the gender of the trees doesnt really help with the punchline, only the fact that theyre naming them is the joke, and

2. some may still care abt the translation being as close to the source text as possible even if the source text is just a funny yonkoma and isnt canon anyways (so theres no canon im messing up by changing some names)

oh yeah and

3. the name hitomi alone is already japanese. so. yea
