Hihi! I was thinking about my own OC’s backstory in the JJK lore and I was wondering how Ryuu fits in! What’s his opinion of the Inumaki clan and how does he get along with other sorcerers? :0

Hello!

Deemed too dangerous to abandon yet unworthy of belonging, the clan cast him off to Jujutsu High.

When Ryuu graduated, he joined Nanami who was currently working as Salesman. Ryuu didn't leave the sorcerer live behind and worked as an independent sorcerer. Until they both came back to Jujutsu High in 2014.

He resents the Inumaki clan, seeing them as hypocrites who only acknowledged him when they needed his power. Treated as both a stain on their legacy and a tool they couldn’t discard. He has no loyalty to their traditions or pride, if the clan fell, he wouldn’t mourn it. To him, family is about bonds, not blood, and the Inumakis severed that connection long ago.

Geto: Ryuu and Geto share a quiet understanding, but Ryuu rejects Geto’s growing extremism. Their bond frays over time, with Ryuu refusing to follow his path.

Shoko: They get along effortlessly, bonding over sarcasm and cigarettes. Shoko never pries, and Ryuu appreciates her laid-back nature.

Gojo: Initially annoyed by Gojo’s loud personality, Ryuu eventually warms up to his persistence. Despite his complaints, he values Gojo’s unwavering confidence and friendship.

Haibara: Ryuu admires Yu’s optimism but finds it naive, fearing it will lead to heartbreak. Still, Yu’s kindness wears him down.

Nanami: Their bond starts with mutual respect, slowly deepening into love. Nanami’s stability gives Ryuu the sense of belonging he never had, while Ryuu helps Nanami loosen up.

Just a random ask, what are some weird JTTW adaptations you’ve seen or heard about?

I can’t even begin to call them all but… if you bear with me, I shall try.

Here are a few games that I always found funny additions!

Starting off strong we have Journey to the West: Undersea Adventure (2021)! I have never seen it but LOOK AT IT.... THEY FISH

Six-eared Monkey (2021) where Six Ears goes back in time, accidentally adopts Wukong not knowing he is his future enemy and gives his life to save Child-Wukong despite knowing who he grows up to be.

Wukong's Christmas Adventure (2019) is like... saving Ruphdolh or something and Wukong is going through a mid-life crisis and also kinda depressed but CHRISTMAS. Also the Erlang and Nezha models in this movies are TERRIFYING... and also they have Wukong rap so take a look.

Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons (2013) is weird but like in a GREAT way like... I love the monster designs they give Wukong, Bajie, and Wujing, it is such a different vibe then any other movie I have seen and Honestly LOVE It for that. Really sells just how HUMAN Sanzang is dealing with POWERFUL YAO that could kill him in a second.

Bling (2016) is strong that it didn't hAVE to be Xiyouji coded characters like the Monkey, Pig, and Frog are robot storage performers, wannabe heroes and they follow their creator who is trying to propose to his girlfriend but there really is not journey or ANY need to have the robot being Wukong, Bajie, and Wujing.

Spark: A Space Tail (2016) is also BARELY a Xiyouji film but like it does have a monkey with a staff and turns out he is the son of a king and a queen of monkey planet. Really more like Lion King with the evil uncle trying to take over but with space monkeys.... and also Bajie is there.

Mo mo King (2011) is something I'm not completely sure what's it about but just that it is like a whole monkey island that Wukong-like protag works at... and also Bajie is there.

Devil's Chip (2002) again NO idea what it is really about but there is space and time travel and for some ungodly reason no wukong from what I have seen but Sanzang and Bajie company the space/time travler

Flying Monkid (1996) I have no idea why this was ever MADE like there is barely a connection to Wukong and every other demon is new or some kind of version that is barely recognizable, not to mention the animation is barely any better than Pixal art.

Flying Superboard (1990) I always just found this one strange from the animation to the art style to the design choices. Like making Wukong some kind of skateboard, nunchuck, mouse-looking creature and giving Bajie a machine gun is.... something. I have no idea what they did to Wujing, made him like a bat, goblin thing.

Midnight Goku (1989) is like a sci-fi detective story where the protag has like computer eyes that can see through people and a bo-staff and honestly, I haven't seen but just the STRETCH they use to make this Wukong-related is so insane like would have never thought of it.

Little Wukong (1987) honestly not SURE what this story is even about but like... it is nearly lost media, this is so obscure and out of the way I have a feeling it was probs a children's education show or something but idk.

The Legend of Red Boy (1989) is something that looks like candy land spat out and while I have not seen it I am so sure that it is filled with nonsensical elements I cannot begin to describe.

King Kong's Adventures in the Heavenly Palace (1959) is... more of a crossover than anything else. Just imagine a movie where instead of Wukong destroys heaven... it is Kind Kong. Legit THE king Kong from the OTHER MOVIES YES.

Pink Journey to the West (2015) is honestly not that strong I would say besides that it is just Journey to the West but they are all girls... haven't seen it but who knows maybe it is good!

And while this isn't EVERY weird (there is a lot) one these are that I thought were at least interesting enough. Like a lot of Xiyouji movies have strange plotpoint but honestly, they are more boring and confusing than anything memorable. At least these were the ones I always thought were fun!

Okay here’s a fun bit of off-the-cuff, unhinged rambling:

So I’ve been playing some Yugioh Duel Links lately, specifically the current Arc-V event focused on Rin and Lulu. And I noticed that Rin has some rather interesting dialogue when summoning both Clear Wing and Crystal Wing Synchro Dragons (for context, the ace-monsters of one of Arc-V’s Shonen-Protags; Yugo. For whom Rin is the plot-designated love-interest).

Stuff like; "I know you'd rather fight by my side than with Yugo!” for Clear Wing Dragon and “A monster this awesome is wasted on Yugo!” for Crystal Wing Dragon.

And not only is it rather interesting and frankly fun for a designated-shonen love-interest to be making comments like that, but she’s also not exactly wrong either…

For one, mechanically-speaking the Clear Wing dragons slot EXTREMELY well into Rin’s Windwitch archetype, which is very effective at getting out Level 7/8+ WIND Synchro monsters. To the point of even being a bit better at it, or at least a bit more reliable/consistent, than Yugo’s own Speedroid archetype.

And aesthetics-wise, the Windwitch’s whole motif is that of Icy Wind. And well…

Clear Wing Dragon, Crystal Wing Dragon, Crystal Clear Wing Dragon…

Sounds like something what would go quite well with an ICE motif, no? Certainly just as well as the ‘speed’ motif of Yugo’s Speedroids. Heck, those crystals on Crystal Wing Dragon look quite a bit like ice crystals, don’t they?

So! With all that in mind, combined with both the fact that Rin frankly deserves another badass ace monster after all the disrespectful shit her series put her through AND how the idea of a designated shonen love-interest making off with the protag’s best cards and possibly even making better use of them is frankly EXTREMELY FUN…

Yeah as far as I’m concerned, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon is Rin’s monster now whenever I play Duel Links and will have a permanent place in all of her decks.

And heck, while we’re at it let’s take this idea of Rin using Clear Wing Dragon a bit further and envision the story potential of this.

Consider if you will: An alternate version of Arc-V where Yugo is the one who gets damsel’ed and/or fridged, and RIN comes into possession of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. To the point of even eventually becoming/revealed to be that dragon’s TRUE partner.

Sounds ludicrous, right? After all, Rin is one of the fragments/incarnations of Ray Akaba, who is basically the nemesis of the four Dimension Dragons.

But consider also: This would have made for a way more INTERESTING STORY for Arc-V!

Imagine a version of Arc-V where multiple character, mostly villains/antagonists, spend the show hyping up how the four Yu-boys are ‘destined’ to become one and recreate the terrible Zarc, and that the four bracelet girls are likewise ‘destined’ to become one and recreate Ray in order to stop him.

Only for multiple characters and events across the show to subvert and DEFY this so-called ‘destiny’.

Like say, some of both the ‘Zarc’ and ‘Ray’ fragments rejecting merging together on such a fundamental level that they CANNOT merge like what we saw in the anime?

Or one of the Yu-boys learning a summoning method that perhaps Zarc himself originally rejected? As in, RITUAL summoning.

Or one of Ray’s incarnations defying all conventional expectations and actually bonding with one of Zarc’s Dimensional Dragons, to the point of said dragon rejecting Zarc himself.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds WAY more interesting.

Also, because Clear Wing Dragon seems to be a girl dragon, I am definitely shipping her with Rin for the sake of underappreciated Yugioh yuri*. Heck, it’s a fragment of Ray in love with one of Zarc’s dragons so it’s basically an ‘enemies-to-lovers via reincarnation’ thing XD

theyre a pair of twin beasts, middle schoolers! i have no idea who is hazelnut and who is chestnut i kept calling them both names like that, theyre they/them in the way there are always two kids. these kids are beasts(?) that look like human but with magic and animal ears and tails. theyre adopted by a desi family of wizards so they do witchy spellcasting stuff. their names are in vietnamese cause. well im viet, and theyre kind of a ripoff of a vietnamese early 2000s tv show about a family of wizards (LOL) coming to the human world and try to blend in, except mine is just about the family trying to take care of these two beasts and the shenanigans revolve around them! if i were to continue writing them now i'd probably do the sitcom format, something like old d*sney channel series like wizard of waverly place (wait i think i also stole from this LMAO) or good luck charlie where the focus is on the interpersonal relationships of everyone in the family and how they are to the kids, growing as they learn to take care of them? idk. but this was 2012, i was 12, so i ripped from cardcaptor sakura and ben10 and pokémon or other similar video games to make them into mahou-kodomo shounen protags going around different worlds capturing creatures-of-the-week but theyre all in the back of my head now </3 vote for them if you like little animal freaks that would crawl on the floor chewing furniture and bite each other then cry to mom

I don't usually post on this blog but anyway, I wanted to sort all of my opinion about the spiderverse movies. I'm not even a marvel or spiderman or anything but holy shit how much I liked the itsv and atsv. I'm not gonna say anything controversial just an average view on the whole thing

things I liked the most about it:

1. the protagonist

MILES IS SUCH A GOOD PROTAGONIST. at first we see him as a typical awkward teen protag but he's that and so much more!!

the creators did such a good job with showing him as a teen(which is a rare thing)! like they've actually seen teenagers irl!! he is soo relatable. the way they showed his life is really natural. all the problems he has seem like those that an average teenager would have: his parent–child relationship issues, changing schools, getting closer to his origins, finding his sense of identity, his poor flirting skills etc. etc.

he really was an average teen in the first movie and it's such a good start. it really connects him to a viewer. but in the second movie we also see him as a skilled spiderman!! he's gone through a lot tho to become one, they really showed how difficult it was to him. my man upgraded so much!! he's not only relatable but also amazing!! but it's not even the best part of him.

I WAS STUNNED BY HIS ACTIONS IN THE ENDING OF ATSV. THE WAY HE REBELS AGAINST THE WHOLE FREAKING SPIDER SOCIETY. he chooses his own path!! he's not going to be stuck in the past like Miguel, he's gonna save everyone!! he became one of the strongest and unique spidermen, the whole spider society couldn't keep up with him!!

he may look liker your average teen protagonist but he's not!! the representation is sooo good!!

2. the message

THE WAY THIS SHOW SAID "WE SHOULD NOT BE A PART OF THE HARMFUL SYSTEM" IS SOOO POWERFUL. THE MESSAGE WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD AND LOUD. the show nailed it!!

3. the animation and the artwork

it's hella amazing. goes with the storytelling really well, reflects the true colors of the characters and affects viewers in a way that no animated show would to, truly perfect.

4. the side characters

Gwen

she's so cool. her design, how graceful and confident she seems(she isn't), her vibe. the conflict with her father hit toooo close to home, honestly. the special connection she has with Miles, they really understand each other on emotional level. also I really appreciate that they didn't make this whole stupid love triangle things with other characters like Hobie and her friend Peter. their pairing with Miles is great, honestly I'm surprised there aren't many fics about them in ao3(I've searched).

Peter B Parker

he may seem like a loser: he's divorced, doesn't have a house, looks imperfect and generally isn't what you would expect from a superhero. but it's not what he is. he's also a really kind–hearted character, he and Miles have really taught each other a lot of things. he's his first mentor and without his help we Miles wouldn't be the same. he is also a really powerful Spiderman even if he doesn't look like it. kinda reminds me about one of my friends who's really alike to him. I love his character development in the 2nd movie, he overcame his fear and now we can see cute Mayday with him. the way he acts kinda obsessed with his parent role and kids is soo funny to me. are they all like that after they become parents?

Miguel

he is a rich man, spiderman wannabe, stuck in the past, he can't deal with his emotions, he's projecting onto a 15 years old boy who doesn't want to lose his father. he's exactly what you would hate about a character, he suits the antagonist role so well. I honestly don't understand the hype about him bc maybe bc I'm not straight so Idc about how he looks. for me he looks pathetic actually. but pathetic enough to be a low key interesting character

Pavitr and Hobie

these two are great too but I was kinda expecting them to have more major role in the plo, but okay we'll see it later. their designs are really cool tho and their friendship is precious

aunt May

she's soo badass, I really liked it. reminded me of mrs Hudson from Sherlock tbh, one of my fav characters. she knew all about her nephew and helped him with being a superhero?? kind of a shame we didn't really know him, I wonder what was he like. maybe we will see in the next movie??

Doctor Octavia

her design is so cool tho and damn, she looks really good. the way she and Peter B Parker interacted was hilarious tho. also were they friends with aunt May I ship them kinda?? pretty sure they're gonna tell us in the 3rd movie. can't waiit

5. the villain

I thought he was gonna be some kind of a comic relief but he upgraded and now he isn't and looks freaking terrifying?? really excited about what's gonna happen to him in the 3rd movie and how he would develop.

6. the ending

AGAIN, THE ENDING. I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT COMING. THE EARTH–42 PROWLER BEING MILES, HIM THAT SHOULD'VE BECOME A SPIDERMAN AND ALSO DOES MIGUEL NOT KNOW, WHAT THE HELL?? really broke all the expectations but in a good way

EDIT: After having been properly educated (by both the OP and my GF, who wasn't happy with me for getting into an argument on the Internet in the first place let alone on something I was flat-out wrong about), I've promised to give Gundam another try, starting with Witch from Mercury. I'll probably be doing a "live react" or something on a Tumblr post or something. And because it must be said as publicly as I made an ass of myself: I'm sorry to OP and I'm sorry to the fandom for running off assumptions in the heat of the moment.

(This, at least, will give me something to do instead of sit in the dark and cry over the fact that my GF is leaving going back to her hometown for a month and probably never coming back because everyone leaves me eventually and I'll probably die alone ...maybe I have issues.)

Anyway, much like my issue with Warhammer 40k, I allowed myself to be completely blinded to the actual content of the IP by dudebros who gave me a completely inaccurate picture of the property. This is the dudebro's fault for being douche-bags about it and my fault for believing them, not the fault of the actual Gundam fandom or the property itself.

Why not just delete the post? Two reasons; first, it's already escaped confinement and second I don't believe in deleting stuff I've posted just because it's wrong. It feels disingenuous to me, like I'm trying to hide it and lie about it. I'd rather people find the original straight from the source with apologies or corrections (like this one) than have a game of hearsay telephone happening with possible out of context screenshots.

I've been deliberately avoiding this series because...well, it's Gundam. If there ever was a series that was overhyped it's Gundam, but mostly because it's a progressive march of fuckboys in penis compensation machines saving the day because Reasons™ and you're telling me The Series for Cis-Het Dude Protags has two lady queers front and center AND THEY DON'T KILL THEM OFF?!

I mean, okay, okay...backing up here...maybe I'm jaded. It took me 20+ years to find out there's a playable faction of women characters in Warhammer 40k because I couldn't see past the neo-fascist fanboys who have hard-ons for a zombie emperor. Maybe all I'm seeing are the wannabe otaku who saw one (1) series of Gundam and decided it was the Best Mecha Anime Ever and are just four-bajillion forms of annoying about it.

Maybe I've been watching from the sidelines as the "Yes Lesbians!" vs. "No Lesbians!" factions lob grenades at each other without ever talking about whether these two protagonists even have a story arc.

Please, please say the important part out loud! Tell us up front that the sweet queer couple in the series aren't killed off or married off in some hack-writer way to get rid of the queers!

EDIT: I understand that my lack of clarity was, once again, me falling into the dudebro's traps and not paying attention to what people actually said, and clearly people in the Gundam fandom, esp. the queer parts of it, have been saying it right up front for some time. The meta-message I was going for remains valid, even if my application of it to this particular franchise was wildly off-base. I mostly think this poll is hilarious (and some people are taking it way, way too seriously) but it’s starting to get really weird how often people on the opposite side are dismissing Gundam — a giant of science fiction that remade a genre in its image — and quite literally lying about Suletta and Miorine. I’ve seen people claim they were canonically married to men, people claim the show’s ending was rewritten by interns, claim they never hugged, and other claims regarding them not being canon.

While Bandai and Kadokawa did censor one interview, and Bandai released an “open to interpretation” statement, these no longer hold true. Official material has henceforth referred to them as married. One instance of censorship and a statement they’ve clearly walked back on does not erase the fact that the show itself heavily emphasizes their wedding rings, refers to Miorine as Eri’s sister-in-law, and makes it abundantly clear that they are married.

An addendum to this: I’ve also seen a strange dismissal of the history that G-Witch pulls from.

Gundam has had a queer fanbase for decades, and has had gay characters (with Yoshiyuki Tomino himself confirming this) since the 1990s.

G-Witch draws from Gundam’s extensive, genre-shaking history, classics like Utena and Rose of Versailles, and Shakespeare’s The Tempest. It brings Gundam and Utena’s connection full circle, and is in conversation with every Gundam series that came before it.

It’s unfair to dismiss it as just some random show, or — as I’ve seen some do — credit its open queerness to the influence of completely unrelated American media, as if Japan is utterly devoid of gay people.

Ryuu grew up on with his mother who died when he was 6 years. He was born out of an affair and a symbol of shame for the Inumakis. They resented him not only because of his origins but because, against all odds, he had inherited their power. This fact forced the family’s hand, as much as they wished to abandon him, they could not let such potential stray.

Ryuu made it clear that he didn’t care for their acceptance, and in return, they kept their distance, relegating him to the background.

I’ll be honest with you, I never really liked sonic the hedgehog. Not because I dislike the show or video games, but because when I was younger I didn’t learn about the show first, I learned about the creepy pasta version of sonic and I hated it since I despised anything horror related back then and always hated watching the show. Even though I knew it wasn’t scary or anything and it was just a bunch of little spike-y animals (minus tails) running around trying to stop Professor eggman or whatever his name was.

Whenever I watched the show I always wanted Knuckles and Tails to leave Sonic since I hated him with a burning passion because in the creepy pasta version I always saw sonic terrorizing Knuckles and Tails and was in like an abusive relationship with Tails or something. I didn’t care about that pink hedgehog though, I don’t remember her name and didn’t like her very much. She clung to Sonic waaaaaayyyy too much for my liking in the show.

Also Sonic is blue, like what kind of hedgehog is blue???? Who does that to a hedgehog???? Knuckles isn’t a hedgehog, I have no idea what he is but I know he isn’t a hedgehog, I’m pretty sure he was an echidna or some other kind of hedgehog wannabe. I also didn’t like Sonics voice actor, they always sounded so bland.

I liked Tails’ voice though, it reminded me of a movie I watched a long time ago where this fox agent guy sneaks into some rabbit village to steal information for his agency and he was really tech-savvy and his boss hated that or something and for some reason he falls in love with one of the rabbits and I was just like????? It’s a children’s movie not everything has to be romantic just let children watch a show about some fox trying to break into a village??????? Anyways I’m pretty sure the movie was called like agent fox or something but I’m done ranting now just had to get that off my chest.

What was up with all of Sonics rings and stuff??? What were those even used for??? I know it wasn’t used as any kind of currency so what were they supposed to do? Make him go faster?

Speaking of that, why did they pick a hedgehog of all animals to be the super speedy anime babe protag? Like what was up with that? Hedgehogs aren’t that fast??? Like sure, I’d say they’re pretty fast for their size, but c’mon, pick something faster like a lemur or something. That would’ve been way cooler than some blue haired anime girl hedgehog. And maybe pick natural colors too??? Like what if some little child decides to dye their pet hedgehog blue so it can match sonic and it dies since it wasn’t supposed to, y’know, be DYED BLUE??? And don’t tell me it’s the child’s fault for that, they obviously don’t know better and not only am I blaming the parents for leaving their child unattended for so long that they managed to poison their pet hedgehog with the blue dye, I’m also blaming them for getting their child a pet hedgehog in the first place. That would be an absolutely awful pet for a small child. If you don’t get them from someone that handled them a lot as a baby, they’re going to be super shy and poke much more than one that was handled. And I’m fairly certain that if any kind of parents got their young kid a hedgehog then they wouldn’t bother looking into wether or not it was handled. Also hedgehogs have a back FULL OF SPINES. If a little kid tries to pick up the hedgehog without anyone who can teach them how to properly handle a hedgehog then they’re obviously going to get prickled and they may drop the hedgehog with would end awfully for the poor little creature. They’re very fragile and being dropped from any height is dangerous, even if they got slightly lifted off the ground and then dropped. And I’m not going to blame a literal child for doing something that could have easily been prevented by the parents/guardians of the kid for being naive enough to think that hedgehogs -or any type of small animal, seriously, just get a dog- were easy animals.

As you can see I have a lot of pent up aggression towards sonic and whoever created that god awful show and hope sonic burns to the ground.
