Decora Day - Winter Armageddon 2023

Oh my god Lenka your RB with the 'all dogs hate terfs' thing I gotta tell you the FUNNIEST shit that reminded me of so i got a dog, he's a small guy but he's very loud and protective. He can tell men make me nervous so he obviously growls and tries to intimidate any unfamiliar man that gets too close to us when we are out and about like the little guardian angel he is.

One time we were at a park together with an anime convetion happening nearby aparently and this very obvious troon dressed as an anime girl came up to us and began comicaly aaawing and squealing over how cute my dog is (felt like he was mocking women tbh but might just have been my personal bias against his kind) and he asked me if it's okay to pet him. I told him he really hates men so i wouldn't try it, he's never bitten anyone but being cornered by a man in an attempt to pet him might make him feel the need to defend himself so i wouldn't try it. Sure enough my dog was busy barking and growling, standing slightly infront of me and his fur was in a little mohawk (idk the english term you know the mohawk dogs get on their necks when theyre agressive) The troon told me it would be fine since he isnt a man and i told him my dog is literaly an animal who can tell what he is no matter what he wants other humans to call him and the troon eventualy just scoffed and left with his middle finger up wich i found funny since they always talk about killing terfs and he didnt even like...verbally fight me or anything lol

Comiket

When I was little I always wanted to go to comiket in Japan, I was very into anime and thought it was the coolest thing ever. I aleady participated in my own countries conventions but the older I got and the more i heard from japanese guests and events around other convetions around the world I realized that comiket seems to be rather boring. One day I asked a friend of mine, he is Japanese and he went to comiket once during the summer. He told me it's awful, everyone is sweating, it's hot and its all just for a few comics made by amatures. This is where my dream really did come to a crash and I never wanted to try going to comiket especially during summer. Well, Yesterday it finally happened. I went to comiket during summer. I didn't see the pretty cosplays, I did not stand in line I got in right away, the building was huge and the amount of people was overwhelming. I got lost and separated from people often, and I was not insterested in most of the comics or general handmade goods they offered. I am no longer a kid thats interested in everything and anything anime, I am not into yaoi, I'm ace and the 18+ stuff was way way too much and way too in your face especially when some of the stalls had child sellers (about 8-10 years old) right next to the very uncencored 18+ big boobied doujin. Not to mention the Child corn. so so much child corn. Other than that hololive took over the vocaloid items and over all i felt out of place in a place I thought I belonged once. The only place I enjoyed genuinely is the same place I enjoy in my own country, the Copic stalls. I just bought a bunch of pens and manga material. I think I rather make my own stories than buy other peoples. I did find some gems that I like, I found a funny bag that has cat pompoms on display, I found a comic about an angel helping with house work and I got the last doujin of a jirai kei girl :)

Time for a Lore Drop as ive become much more happier with Lirs Story. well i struggle with the normal convetions of an ask blog its still quite fun :>

So for one I have lir to be much older than he was before. rather than being an edgy story for his history hes now just a ball of magic that over time sort off collected itself and gained a conscious that even hes not sure of. he perked from a lake below the crystal empire as i like to think that with rainwater going down the mountain and the natural magic in the earth getting caught in the water is where he comes from but even then im not sure.

For a while he took on no form, before mimicking animals in the forest north of ponyville (the large one generally believed to hug Fluttershys cottage, and be below cloudsdale from when fluttershy fell) at some point he did meet some ponies being Sapphire and Lumi (Up for change) so he mimics them then before slowly changing into his own form he holds onto now. Sap and Lumi have long sense passed and Lir stays more hidden in the forest.

He cranky and admitally cold to ponies for his own reasons and often leads them out of what he veiws as his forest. finding encroaching development harmful to the animals he has grown to care for. he lives in a rundown old cottage, although lived is a debatable word but it well taken care of. he is own to growl and bare teeth like a wolf before being friendly just due to how he has experienced life although he also enjoys pranking those who return, or fouls who come in based on a dare. he doesn't actually ever attack or harm as he more wishes to scare or mess with them. he does however show signs of curiosity and an interest to learn more things but is unwilling to leave his forest due to his distrustful nature.

ive given him the nicknames "Ghost of North Woods / Winter Prince" as he will often switch between a sort of magical blob and using a water body. he has noted that no pony has both a horn and wings and hes unaware of the status associated. for a while he did sport wings but now he opts to not form them unless he wants to be annoying and freak/prank someone out.

He takes after the animals as well, well he is not bonded to one animal in partular he is a general help. letting them drink from his "hair" and being just portable drinkable water. he dosent tend to see the same animal often so he treats them all well.

He dose have sharp teeth like a dog/wolf as it seemly seems to freak out most ponies who come by.

i like to say that at one point, well the rail road though the mountains to the crystal empire was being built Lir was a bit of a pain often causing havoc and rain as he didn't like the railroad as it seems to separate the forest from the lake there. even if a train likely comes once every day or less really.

The world that Aether and Lumine were originally from was not in the same galaxy as Teyvat. Regardless of the 'stars/sky is false' thing, they literally would not see the same set of stars in the night sky.

In fact the twins' home galaxy is more or less RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Teyvat's home galaxy. Their home world operated on a similiar level to Earth and Teyvat's: in which they had oxygen that combined with other elements in order to breath, water, land and different types of animals for pets, livestock, etc. However Aether and Lumine's people were different from Teyvat's.

Where in Teyvat people channeled one type of element in Visions IF THEY WERE LUCKY, their people could channel all of their world's elements without the use of a Vision because they were considered humanoid elementals. Their appearance and biology were similiar or pretty damn close to that of humans, they considered themselves humans even though they weren't. They had very long lifespans and could become immortal sages after so long if they so chose.

Depending on the power levels of their people, they could manifest different types of wings which were colored and they could also be more than two wings. Gold wings were the strongest set of wings and only the Twins were able to manifest them as they could take a person OUT of their world and help them travel in the vacuum of space. In their world their wings took the look of a six-winged phoenix. While in Teyvat and throughout their travels their wings manifested in a more stardust/space-y way.

Any variant of RED wings were the highest a person could get. Six was the max number of wings though that was actually rare only the Twins or an immortal sage could get that number. Orange, blue, green, purple, white, black as well as their variants in color were just some of the different levels. The most common number of wings was two and the most uncommon was three, four and five.

Lumine and Aether were special from the moment they were born. Because twins were actually RARE within their culture. If a mother had a set of twins it meant that their twin gods had decided to return to the world in which they created instead of just watching over it and helping it grow by subtle influence. This happened very few thousand years or so.

Aether was the older twin by 20 minutes while Lumine was the younger. Aether and Lumine were immediately called the Children of the Stars; a title that their God twins held. And this was reinforced by the fact that their hair was blonde and their eyes were fiery golden star dust.

Because the twins were the mortal reincarnations of their world's Gods their original powers were far stronger than that of their people's. While both became warriors and defended their people from outside invasions, with Lumine being offensive and Aether more defensive and thus complimenting each other on the battlefield, Lumine's greatest power was her ability to heal.

She and Aether could do both and both could easily purify things, but Lumine's power to heal was far greater than that of her brother's. She could heal EN MASS hundreds if nothing thousands upon thousands of injured troops or people in general by using the water in the air to do so. The same thing applied albiet on a much smaller scale when applied to an individual person.

Because of how precious the Twins were, they were often conveted by other people on their world. Even though everyone believed in the Twin Gods, many people sought out that power for themselves. And in order to GAIN the Twins' powers and become practically become Gods, they had to MURDER the twins which was very hard to do given that Aether and Lumine were very powerful. And so wars were often fought to try and get the twins. And a violent death like that was said to allow a transfer of power and corrupt the Gods if their "mortal" incarnations were killed.

Now, normally each set of twins would end up dying peacefully to return the Gods to their Godly Forms back in their home realm within their world after a VERY LONG TIME of being on the "mortal" plane. But unfortunately for both Aether and Lumine, they'd never get to live their EXTREMELY long lives, marry, have countless kids and die peacefully in their world because of a distaster which left Aether and Lumine as the sole survivors of their people and their world in general.

Because they are the mortal forms of their twin gods they've taken to calling themselves stars or stars in human form and decided to go searching for a new home, a new place to live with long lived beings such as themselves. So they spent many years do that until they crashlanded on Teyvat.

Story Time With Uncle Tokusatsu

Ok, first off let me say that Uncle Tokusatsu is what my brother calls me to my niblings because I have introduced them all to it.  I also like the moniker because it makes me feel like the older guy who brings the stories of the old days of fandom. That said, let’s take a trip back to 1997.   In 1996 I had begun to attend anime conventions.  My very first was Project A-Kon* in Dallas, Texas.  This was back when the convention was in a relatively small hotel called the Harvey (which is now the Crowne Plaza) in Addison, Texas.  To let you know how small these cons were back then, A-Kon was one of the oldest in the nation and it had an attendance the first year I went of 800 people.  The last modern A-Kon (they dropped the Project from the title after I stopped regularly attending) had an attendance of 34,684.   Needless to say, the modern Kon would never fit in a modest hotel like the Harvey/Plaza.

I knew people on staff at the Kon, notably folds on the video staff.  So, in 1997, when I attended my next A-Kon, I was able to get a special favor.  They had an opening in the schedule EARLY in the morning on Saturday and I basically begged, pleaded and volunteered to work if I could fill that spot. The Harvey had a pretty nice conference room, which was being used as the Main Video room for the convention.  This is where all the big premieres were shown such as Shin Kimagure Orange Road that year and they held special events like Hentai Fest late night on Saturday.  

So, I got a spot on the schedule for what I had brought with me, the first 4 episodes of the newest Super Sentai Series, Denji Sentai Megaranger in raw Japanese with no subtitles. I had gotten it from a local Japanese grocery store as they had a policy of getting new shows on VHS after they aired in Japan to keep the local Japanese diaspora current with what was airing back home.  It also gave us hardcore US fans a chance to see shows we could never get otherwise in the days before bittorrent and digital file sharing.

So, at 6am on Saturday morning my friend who ran the video room, about 12 hearty (or who partied all night and had not yet gone to bed) souls and I watched Super Sentai projected onto a big screen for the first time at A-Kon.  It went over fairly well and I got someone asking me for a copy.  Fortunately, back then people tended to bring VCRs with them to cons so we just hooked two together and I let him copy my tape.   This was my first time showing Toku at a con and since then, I have tried to do it at every convention I can.  I actually still run a Toku showcase late at night at Austin convention Ushicon and in 2019 I got to be on vidstaff at AnimeFEST in Dallas to program and show toku (including Megaranger off of the official DVD release).   So, that’s just one more story of the Early days of Toku fandom.  Now pardon me, I need to take my Geritol and go lie down for a while. *Project A-Kon took its name from the 1986 Parody Anime classic Project A-Ko which was one of the first anime I ever saw back in college in 1993.
