Summary: Late night texts from your boyfriend sends you reminiscing.

A/N: my first piece of writing after being back on tumblr. my escapism came in full clutch man. i used the feelings of homesickness and nostalgia that have been accumulating and channeled it into this lol. its not very long, but as you can see im starting to stretch out my writing muscles again. ALSO! this is beginning the slow transition into other fandoms by beginning again with something familiar to you guys. just an fyi :). OKAY ENJOY GUYS!!!

Staring out the car window, the bright neon lights of the city around you seared their way into your eyes. College had been full of ups and downs, but your mind was currently on your long distance lover off in Japan. Your body ached for a chance to sleep, but being out with your friends and just now getting dinner meant that sleep was still a few hours away. As the slow rumble of your friend’s car droned on, a ping brought you out of your late night daze.

‘miss you! hope your friends aren’t driving you crazy 💛’

A small smile graced your lips, a common occurrence whenever a text from your boyfriend came. You missed him, you really did. You missed the quiet moments both of you shared when it was just you two or the comfort that laughing with your friends brought you. College just meant that all of that was further away from you than before, but it was a change that you would just have to learn to live with for at least four more years. Looking back at your phone, you began texting him back.

‘I miss you so much more pikachu. Can't wait until the next time you come visit so I can bore you by talking about my classes lol’

Hitting send, you waited for his response just in time for your friends to return and drive back home where dinner was awaiting you all. As you all began talking again, another ping came in. Of course, you weren't with your boyfriend or your older friends, but this would be a new experience that would give you new memories as well. And you knew Denki would be waiting for you when you returned home.

First Date w/ Kuroo Tetsurou

kuroo is 100% a reliable and caring man. he may act all cool and goofy sometimes but when it gets down to it, he's fairly serious.

and one of the times where he got so serious was today: when he asked you out on a date.

he's pretty straightforward actually, but when it came to you, he found himself wavering.

was he nervous? scared? hesitant? well, maybe a mix of all those.

he didn't want to get rejected. he liked you very, very much.

the only reason he gathered enough courage today was because of yaku's smack to his head earlier on, the libero shouting at him, "just what are you talking about, kuroo? don't you know that y/n likes you too?! i mean almost everyone knows already for goodness–"

yeah yeah, he got his point. that's why he came to you after class, his heart in his hand as he carefully chose his words.

"hey y/n!" he approached you slowly. it's now or never.

"hi kuroo," you smile at him. "what's up?"

"oh, i... i just wanted to ask you something. are you free this weekend? like, uh, do you have any activities planned or?"

you tilt your head to the side, a finger tapping your chin thoughtfully. "no, i don't think so. why?"

"ah it's just that i wanted to know if you'd be down to go to that new café?" when you don't answer for a few seconds, kuroo quickly adds, "i just heard that they're serving delicious food there and i thought just maybe you'd like to try it out? but if not that's completely fine you know i–"

"kuroo," you cut off his blabbering with a teasing smile. "are you asking me out on a date?"

kuroo purses his lips and then chuckles. he rubs the back of his neck and smirks at you, "and what if i am?"

"then i'd say yes."

the night before the big date, kuroo couldn't sleep. he had already planned his outfit like ten times, called up kenma to ask for advice (not like he had any), and even tried to change his hairstyle.

he just wanted your date to be perfect and he wanted to look all handsome (he didn't know you already think of him as the most handsome and sexy man on earth 😔✋)

you're actually pretty nervous yourself. but more than that you were excited. you don't know how long you've waited for this. you've liked kuroo for a while now, and you know you're going to have fun on your date. because that's who kuroo is. he's fun to be with, easy to talk to, your coversations flow like a river and he makes you laugh at the silliest things.

so imagine your surprise when you meet up with kuroo the next day. he was looking so handsome, as usual, and you looked extra pretty too that it has rendered him speechless.

he's not his usual goofy self, he was more... reserved? maybe because you were both highly aware that this was a date that you became so nervous to even talk about the usual stuff.

but kuroo knew it shouldn't be this way so he clears his throat and starts making small talk.

it takes you a few more minutes to warm up and when you finally do, you let out a small chuckle.

"what? what's so funny?" kuroo smiles at you as you make your way towards the café.

"nothing," you shake your head. "you know you don't have to be so nervous around me, right?"

this time kuroo laughs and he visibly relaxes. it may have been his first time going on a date, but he's glad that that first time was with you.

the rest of your date would go smoothly from there.

kuroo's such a gentleman and he always asks if there's someplace you wanna go or something you wanna do.

but you'll just reply, "anywhere's fine as long as i'm with you."

ah, when did you get so brave with your words?

kuroo internally screams, he's so utterly inlove with you that for the rest of the day he couldn't keep the smile/smirk that forms on his lips whenever he looked at you.

and all he could think about is how he wants to hold your hand and walk you back home.

which he successfully does after a few hand brushes and fleeting glances.

your date ends with kuroo standing in front of your door, your hand still firmly entwined with his.

"i had a lot of fun today kuroo. thank you so much."

"i should be the one thanking you, y/n. i didn't think you'd accept it."

"ah, what are you talking about?" you laugh. "you do know i've liked you for a long time now, right?"

there you go again, your words making his heart flutter.

"you," kuroo leans down and now you're face to face. "how can you be so amazing and beautiful?"

now it's your turn to be flustered, your cheeks heating up at how close he is to you. and then your heart beats faster now that he shows you that signature grin.

kuroo leans in to place a kiss on your cheek and whispers, "you know i like you too, right?"

when he pulls away, he places another kiss on your hand.

"it's getting late, you better head inside now."

the only thing you can do is nod and hold your cheeks.

kuroo chuckles again and turns around to leave. but just before he makes it out of your front yard, he calls out to you, "good night y/n! i'll text you when i get home baby!"

The sun has set more than half an hour ago but Dazai still hadn't gotten off his seat at the park bench. The night breeze was a little bit colder now but he didn't mind. Putting on his earphones, he decides to wait a little longer for the person that he's been missing for a while now.

His foot taps on the ground as he hums along his favorite song and he was too engrossed in it that he didn't feel the presence behind him.

Wrapping your arms around him, his foot stops moving and he was about to jump up until he heard your voice.

"Sorry I kept you waiting, Dazai," You nuzzle his cheek and he knows you're pouting right now.

"Belladonna," He turns his head and lightly pats your hair. "It's okay. I haven't been waiting that long."

He removes his earphones completely and smiles at you, patting the space next to him to ask you to sit down.

"I feel guilty," You frown. "Can I make it up to you?"

"Oh?" Dazai smirks. "You don't have to. But what do you have in mind?"

"This," You take his face in your warm hands and pull him closer, letting your lips touch, and Dazai immediately responds to it.

Closing his eyes, he smiles into the kiss and holds your hands in his.

You were definitely worth the wait.

you work hard to achieve your dreams but you don’t have the support of those around you. you wish you could get credit for wanting to pursue your happiness but you don’t. the rare affirmations you get are the things that keep you going. people telling you that you’re never going to make it is really discouraging because you already know it’s hard. you just want them to tell you that you can. you want validation.

social situations may be difficult for you. you try to make friends but you often feel insecure that they don’t like you and you’re scared of being rejected. it’s not that you don’t want to make friends, because you do. you want to be included. you’re just afraid that you’ll say something wrong and they’ll hate you, and that everyone will end up abandoning you and you’ll be all alone again.

you’re always there for everyone, but no one is there for you. you hang out with a lot of people and you’re generally good at making friends, but sometimes you still feel lonely and you don’t really understand why. you have insecurities no one knows about because you hide them behind your smile. no one sees the tears you cry before you sleep at night. you want people to ask about you. you want people to think about you. you want to feel important.

you probably have a resting bitch face and people’s first impression of you is always that you’re scary or intimidating. it actually really hurts your feelings because you don’t want to be seen that way. you wish people would describe you as friendly and approachable but no one does. you try to make friends but oftentimes you rely on others to make friends with you first.

𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐘𝐀

you harbour a lot of regrets. you beat yourself up over your past mistakes because you know you could have done better, but you didn’t. you failed. you failed both yourself and everyone who put their trust in you. but you don’t tell anyone that you feel this way, you just keep the guilt inside of you. you put on a brave face for everyone and you refuse to cry in front of them because you know you have to stay strong. but on the inside, you’re crumbling, and you blame yourself the most.

you wish you weren’t so mediocre. you try to compensate for your mediocracy by being loud or covering it up with humour. but deep down, you know that you’re just brushing it under the carpet and you curse yourself for your lack of prowess. if only you weren’t so plain, people would like you and people would want you. you want to be wanted by others. you wish you could be the main character, but you know you’re not. you’ll only ever be a side character.
