My mare Ellie recently suffered from an eye infection that was bothering her a lot. She was looking downcast and could barely open the affected eye. It’s common for horses to get eye infections during the summer, when the weather is hot and there are more flies about. Fortunately, I’ve discovered a few homeopathic and herbal remedies that work very well for eye health. For anyone who owns a horse, I recommend keeping one safe, universal homeopathic remedy on hand in particular: Eyebright. The Latin name of this plant is Euphrasia officinalis, but it’s such an effective remedy for eye health that it was given the common name “Eyebright.” I suggest keeping 30c and 200c potencies on hand if you have a horse who is prone to eye infections. For minor infections, use the 30c potency and give one dose of several dry pellets once per day for up to five days. For a more intensive infection, give the same potency two to three times a day for up to five days. If you find that the infection is still not improving (or if you live far from your horse and are not able to visit often enough to administer daily doses), try a single dose of the 200c potency and watch for improvement. Eyebright should be stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight, camphor, coffee, mint, and electronics (a kitchen drawer or cupboard away from excessive heat or cold is perfect). For Ellie, I first brewed a strong batch of chamomile tea, let it cool, and then washed her eyes with it. This can be repeated every few hours if necessary, brewing a fresh batch of tea each day. Then I gave her a single dose of the Eyebright 200c. With each day, I saw improvement, and now one week later she has zero infection and is a happy camper again. #homeopathy #animalhomeopathy #herbalremedies #herbalismforhorses #eyebright #euphrasiaofficinalis #horsecare #horsecaretips #eyebrightherb https://www.instagram.com/p/Cim3sqDLkZ-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
