Katydid facts called bush crickets but that's confusing! Animal Fact Files from Andrew Lim Mao Tung on Vimeo.
Katydids are a large group of insects with more than 6,000 recognized species. They may sometimes be referred to as "bush crickets" or "long horned grasshoppers" but this can be confusing since they're not closely related to either! Katydids are found throughout the world in temperate and tropical climates. Most have short lifespans that complete within a year's time, but some may live longer! Katydids are most often the insects that create the loud symphony of the night.Scientific Name: Family - TettigoniidaeRange: All continentes expect AntarcticaSize: 0.2 to more than 9 inches (5mm - 23cm)Diet: host plants or other insectsLifespan: typically 1 year (some live longer)Support the channel on Patreon:patreon.com/animalfactfilesYou can learn more on:Twitter - twitter.com/animalfactfilesFacebook - facebook.com/animalfactfiles

Sturgeon facts an anadromous fish Animal Fact Files from Andrew Lim Mao Tung on Vimeo.
Sturgeon are mostly freshwater fish inhabiting lakes and large rivers, however these anadromous fish may spend part of their lives in saltwater, too! Some sturgeon species live in brackish to saltwater estuaries during most of the year but then make their way to freshwater lakes in order to spawn. There are somewhere around 30 living sturgeon species and these fish can reach gargantuan sizes! They have mostly cartilaginous skeletons, like sharks, and their bodies are protected by strong bony scutes which keep their predators to a minimum. Still, humans present quite a threat to sturgeons.Scientific Name: Family - AcipenseridaeRange: throughout the northern hemisphereSize: up to 13 feet (4m) though some reports claim double this at maximum lengthDiet: fish, gastropods, crustaceans, etc.Lifespan: average of 30 years but some believed to double thisSupport the channel on Patreon:patreon.com/animalfactfilesYou can learn more on:Twitter - twitter.com/animalfactfilesFacebook - facebook.com/animalfactfiles
