Hello Internet! Animal Crossing Lore!
Hi, I'm starting my first ever blog to share my passion of Animal Crossing lore! My current blog name is Drink it Hot or Give it Up after Brewster's favourite saying. I haven't decided what to use for my pen name, so if anyone has suggestions, go ahead!
For my first post I thought I'd start by sharing what got me into Animal Crossing's lore in the first place. It all started in the Able Sister's shop. I saw this picture on the wall:
From the small sprite size in the game, I wasn't sure who the person next to Sable and Mabel was. I thought it looked like a cat at first. I couldn't think of any reason why that would be, and Sable didn't help. She talks about all the other pictures on the wall, but not that one. So, I looked into it and turns out, that's Tom Nook!
Many of you probably already know that Tom Nook and Sable were childhood friends, but for those that don't, I'm going to cover that story and many others as I continue to post! Thank you for reading!

#eating pine branches at grandmas.#lived next door.#renting.#pine branches were really tasty and chewy like ... soupy tootsie rolls?#tried to sneak up on sister#while holding a plastic bag#found. she thought i was soemthing worse. also had been followed by crows for awhile#went back home. grandparents mom and uncles gave me 21 cents and advice on how to have a good birthday on the dime#played sonic the hedgehog with mom except ive never played sonic before in my life so it definitely wasnt that#more like animal crossing with an explore / battle mode?#and you could only pick from 3 characters#mom played with me. i was surprised.#. next dream#exploring a minecraft like world. big mansion#somehow end up in hell#i fall down and loose my exit. have to fight invisible ghasts and monsters until i can explore and find a way back#find a way back. no tools. hard to find resources to make a pickaxe in this mansion.#im with a bunch of people and mocked for not being able to find twigs#someone destroys a chair and hands me a bundle of twigs#i know the next step is to go punch a tree but all the trees growing here are pretty and i dont want to#later theres some ceremony. funeral maybe but with more religious undertones?#i have to wear a dress#and am handed heavy dangly earrings to wear#after i mourn and gather myself. some sort of special symbolism.#i take longer to mourn than the crowd of others would like#wearing the earrings themselves feels like tremendous grief to me. the weight of doing something I Am Not.#then they ask me to put on eyeshadow too#all of this in a very feminine way mind you#i tear tf out of there and flee#i run into more people in the hallway. somehow this place ends up being the church i grew up in

The Able Sisters (part 1):
This will be a three-part post on the Able Sister's Tragic Backstory. Each one will focus on one of the sisters. We are going to start will Mabel. She is the youngest of the sisters and if not the favourite at least the most well known as the clerk of the clothing store the Able Sisters, that she runs with her oldest sister, Sable. She’s generally a very sweet person who just wants to help you find some clothes that make you feel like yourself. You’d never guess her "Tragic Backstory".
Turns out that her parents died when she was young enough that she doesn’t remember them at all. She was basically raised by Sable. If that wasn’t bad enough her sister Label ran away from home a while after, further breaking their home. She always kind of wanted her sister to come back, but Sable said she had made her choice and wasn’t welcome back. So, when Label started sending her letters trying to make amends and give them some money Mabel kept it secret from Sable. Luckily, Mabel does have a happy ending when she gets the courage to tell Sable what’s happening, and Label is allowed to come home. Label does leave again, but this time on good terms, promising Mabel and Sable to come home after she’s made a name for herself. Mabel gets a happy family.
And next time we will get into Label’s full side of the story.
