I know consistent and explained Elf Lore is a big ask for James but seriously I need more information about Corsair Way Seekers.
From this write up (emphasis mine):
Although driven by the allure of an adventurous life, few Corsairs stoop to the hedonistic excesses of their Drukhari kin. A life shackled to depravity is just as confining as the rigid Paths of the craftworlds. And yet the Dark Prince hungers for Corsair souls as much as any other Aeldari. It’s the duty of psychically gifted Way Seekers to guide fallen Corsairs into waystones, where their souls can rest in safety.
Like, okay! That's really cool and makes sense with the fact that not everyone on a Corsair's crew will necessarily have Spirit Stones attuned to them from infancy, nor will they have a Haemonculus on hand to bring them back immediately. But then from what I understand about Way/Spirit Stones, one of the reasons its hard to attune to them as a (living) adult is because there's only so much "pressure" a soul can put on a stone without it breaking/failing. Babies don't have the weight of 1000 atrocities on their souls from birth so they're easier to attune to, just raise them in a way that keeps that "pressure" on the stone low. But the fact that corsairs can get up to their bullshit stone-intact and still reintegrate into Asuryani or Exodite society proves there's quite a bit of flexibility to what a stone can handle. A regular Corsair who dies without a stone for whatever reason can maybe be popped into an empty one and preserved with some concerted effort.
But then what about crews mixed in with former Drukhari? Would a Way Seeker be able to help them? Inheritance of Embers hones in on just how compulsory Commorragh's cruelty is, such that quite a few ex-Drukhari become corsairs because they're tired of the rat race. It seems like a younger Drukhari can sort of appease the thirst through raids and maybe devote their time to other things when they're not? So, theoretically, a Drukhari who lives a life like that might bring themselves up to "it'll hurt like shit, but okay" levels of waystone acceptability in the event of their death? On the one hand, if you're low enough on the Drukhari totem pole that Mad Science isn't going to save you, the Corsair life isn't bad at all and a waystone is good insurance in the case of an unfortunate accident. But on the other hand waystones are precious and if there's even a small chance Drukhari Dave hasn't done enough therapy to not break one....he might just have to be Slaanesh chow.
Idk. I just wish the requirements and process of soul-storage was a little more elaborated on.

My main two armies at the moment are astra militarum (Cadian 122th Orbital defense regiment) and Stormcast Eternals. With small things like Necromunda gangs, corpse grinder cult and Ash waste nomads, and soon to also have a kill team, Anhrathe edition.

Uttaraxia, Mercenary of the Azure Veil Host
Tumblr media
(Done by the talented @thewinddrifter/https://twitter.com/MusketAnna)
The Sslyth Uttaraxia is one of the primary Lieutenants of the Corsair Prince Arhain. Formerly a mercenary in the employ of Drukhari Kabal, the ambitious Sslyth eventually found her way into the employ of the Azure Veil Host after a joint raid performed by both the Anhrathe and the Drukhari.
Impressed by her capabilities the Prince sought to sway, or bribe, the Sslyth to his side and, eventually, she decided his offer was better than what her former employers could afford, becoming one of the most important members of the Azure Veil and bringing with her a contingent of fellow Sslyth mercenaries who often serve in boarding operations.
Uttaraxia herself is a wild and impulsive being, who has a particular penchant for violence. Within the fighting tourneys held by the Host, during periods of inaction or boredom, the Sslyth has distinguished herself as the reigning champion.
Like many Sslyth she also serves as a bodyguard to her employer, the imposing sight of the large Sslyth often found behind Arhain when he must meet with those he considers of dubious intentions (which, considering he is a Prince of a Corsair Host, is almost everyone he meets). Uttaraxia is well-liked, in-general, within the host, known for her gregarious, extroverted attitude and love for libations and celebrations, even if her idea of rough-housing can quite literally leave a fortunate, or unfortunate, Aeldari with a broken bone (or two).

Something nice
Today there were two rather nice things I wanted to share:
1) I bought Inferno Volume 4 today, I’ve been mostly impressed with them, and this one continued that streak. Featuring a Necron construct getting the better of Thousand Sons but, more importantly, a story about Orks, from Orks’s perspective, which was fun and good. It was nice to just read about Orks again as something other than dead meat.
2) Warhammer Community had a short story today on it about some Aeldari Corsairs. In it the Corsairs manage to kill several Chaos Space Marines, Noise Marines to be exact, and manage to destroy their ships and win the battle.
After how enormously disappointing Phoenix Rising was, and how I’m still struggling to know if I can stand to go on in this fandom, it was nice to read these two short stories today.
