Cyberpride Month, Day 1 : Gabby's Gender

Bigender: "Part female, part something greater than gender itself."

Gabby never was the real man their father so desperately wished them to be. They didn't seek domination through violence. They never hid their emotions. They slowly embraced their feminine side, first to annoy their father, then, for their comfort and happiness.

Once they left home to go study sociology in a renowned university in California, they went with feminine pronouns only. They felt free for the first time in their life. They weren't Gabriele anyone, but Gabbie, then Gabby. They didn't feel like a woman. Becoming a woman should've meant sacrificing part of who they were. Being a woman wasn't enough. They were queer, just queer. Their peers accepted their new identity, most sharing the views that everything in life was a social construct.

While studying to get their degree, they met other queer people with whom they could talk, who helped them learn more about themself. They graduated as a bigender individual. Part woman, part something else, something vague but almost Holy. Being called "he" didn't bother them anymore. Every pronoun fitted just fine. They all feel like jewelry to them: something pretty to wear to make them look even better than they already do.

If their father has never accepted them, everyone around them either does, or is met with their own form of dominance. Words and natural charm.

How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

Got this one already so here's the copy/paste:

Streetkid Val burrows under the covers and looks at her phone until her eyes droop and she finally puts it away. Corpo Val loves bad reality TV. It's her one real indulgence. She usually watches an episode or two in bed before she falls asleep.

What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?

For both versions of Val, sometimes blocks or corners in Watson make her nostalgic. She hates it, because usually it makes her remember being small and alone after Virginia died.

She loves wordplay and puns, so she has a whole slew of them. One that isn't terrible: Two windmills are standing in a wind farm. One asks, “What’s your favorite kind of music?” The other says, “I’m a big metal fan.”

Travis wakes up every morning because he's always got some scheme running, usually involving making eddies fast and cheap and/or seducing his latest target.

How sensitive are they to their own flaws?

His flaws? He is too passionate and he cares too much. Also, he works too hard.

5 facts about Dante

While I have had many OCs from fandoms before him, Dante comes from a completely original universe. I've had him since circa 2015, and needless to say I have a big, big attachment to him. Adapting Dante to Cyberpunk 2077 was my way of using a character I hold very dear.

The main reason behind Dante's name is his theme as a character no matter the universe: a man that is born to face hell and is ultimately saved for and by love. Saying it like this largely underplays his narrative, but exploring death, loss and sacrifice tangled with love has always been an inclination of mine.

Despite his overall inclination for good and arguably well set morals, Dante actually falls in the Neutral alignment (even if Neutral Good). He's been taught to thrive and enjoy off violence, and as such he embraces both of these things - he just knows where to redirect it.

A lot of what you see constituting Dante's background lore, his motives, key events of his life before Night City are adaptations from his original story. Most if not all of these events were roleplayed by me in a larger group with friends, and I really appreciate how much richer that made his story.

Unlike the typical story and correlation of werewolves to the Full Moon, Dante's lycanthropy is not entirely connected to it. While his wolf-like inclinations may spark during the Full Moon, his curse only forces his transformation during Blood Moons, a much rarer occurrence.

Cyberpride Month, Day 5 : Vaea's Orientation (I)

Aroaceflux: "I want them. I want them not. I want them. I want them not. I- I just don't know anymore."

Vaea was 13 when he fell in love for the first time. A blossoming love that withered and died two days later. He didn't feel anything for them anymore. He felt lost, and confused. He feared something was wrong about himself.

Amy believed he was aromantic, and Vaea believed her. A label he wore for almost two decades. But then came Johnny, and then came Kerry. He couldn't deny his feelings for them, even though they came and went.

His lust for people is just as flailing, but it never puzzled Vaea as much as his romantic orientation does. He explains it through his trauma.

His fluctuating orientation still confuses him to this day, despite dating two men. Sometimes, they're friends. Sometimes, they're lovers. Kerry and Johnny have fully accepted this part of Vaea and the flexibility of their relationship with him.

WIP Wednesday/Whenever

Beloved @theviridianbunny tagged me earlier today for WIP Wednesday and I'm excited to share something featuring her own Viridian! As I said the other day, Val's birthday is Nov. 14, and I've yet to contradict myself lol so she's having a party! (Or two?!)

Not everyone can make the party itself because of busy schedules, but Viri stopped by before another engagement to help decorate!

I also started a drabble that might be part of the NOGLY rewrite, the scene from the roof before Mikoshi:

V paces on the rooftop, cigarette pinched between her fingers, drags punctuating every turn. In the corner of her HUD, Judy’s number is highlighted. She should call her. At least tell her what she’s about to do; she deserves that much. Another spin on her heel and she paces back toward Johnny who pulls on his own cigarette. No reason to call River— she ghosted him, dressed silently under cover of his soft snores, crept through the trailer before Ross or the kids could catch her, never answered his messages. A coward. Gonna ghost her, too? Him, sure. Liked her, at least.
