Seven-headed Naga King at the entrance of World's largest religious monument, Angkor Wat built by Hindu king Suryavarman II

This is a huge temple complex located near Siem Reap in Cambodia. It was built by Khmer kings more than a thousand years ago. The complex has a large number of temples. The main temple is the only one that is well preserved. Other temples are in ruins. There is an international effort to restore some of the temples. The temples must have looked majestic when they were built.

A large stones were cut precisely and placed over each other without any bonding material to hold them together. The Khmer kings embraced Hinduism and Buddhism. The carvings are delicate and superbly detailed.

In Hindu and Buddhist culture, Apsaras are a type of female spirit of the clouds and waters, who later plays the role of a "nymph" or "fairy.” They are described to be beautiful, youthful and elegant, and are said to be able to change their shape at will.

In 1927, Sappho Marchal published a study cataloging the remarkable diversity of their hair, headdresses, garments, stance, jewelry and decorative flowers, which Marchal concluded were based on actual practices of the Angkor period. Some devatas appear with arms around each other and seem to be greeting the viewer. "The devatas seem to epitomize all the elements of a refined elegance," wrote Marchal.

'Cambodia' a country whose original name was 'Kambuja' named after a great Vedic sage meaning 'the descendants ( ja ) of Kambu' and within the lands of Cambodia we find the world famous 'Angkor Wat' a great map of the Vedic universe which has been written in stone and a temple whose original name was 'Visnuloka'.
