So I finally figured out my aesthetic (which is kind of weird because normally im not the biggest fan of one of the colors) but im going to use characters with a similar aesthetic to describe it first:

Top Left we have Cherry jam from the 2003/2009 version of Strawberry Shortcake

Top Right we have Draculaura from the original Monster High series from the late 2000's to the mid 2010's

Middle Left we have Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel

Middle Right we have Kotoko from Danganronpa: Ultra Despair girls

Bottom Left we have Jade from the Bratz Dolls more specifically the Rock Angelz version

Bottom right we have Ghoulia from the original Monster High series from the late 2000's to the mid 2010's

So basically the love child of Halloween and Valentines day with a LOT of goth fashion. Main colors being Hot pink, pastel pink (which im not usually that fond of but-), cherry candy red, dark royal purple, black and white with splashes of pewter grey and bright green, generally spooky with a decent amount of spiderwebs and cherry and cherry blossom theming. Also hilariously a lot of these characters are the sweet and smart but mischievous type.

this incredible tim piece by @prettylittlebrownskingyal is one of my favorite things ever and lives one hundred percent rent free in my mind. it has for a month. beautifully written, with such warmth and the COMMUNICATION and i'm a giant sucker for nighttime drives and the whole thing feels like a hug.

this jason piece from @shattersstar absolutely ruined me as a person and i've never quite recovered, okay. it's got him being vulnerable, him not being super sure about that, it's got comfort and intimacy and softness and i am a mess.

your duke meet cute had an ENORMOUS influence on the way i write him, even though i don't do it very often. (i've got some in the drafts, guys, i promise!) it's so cute (duh) and light and delightful and i think about it ALL the time.

surpise! another jason fic (this one by @batwngs) but LISTEN okay... soft warm jay... a BOOKSTORE.... playful arguments..... the bit at the end with him being caught off guard!!!!! oh my god. oh my god. i smile like an idiot every time i remember it

“-fuck- jesus christ, jason, don’t sneak up on me like that!”, you yelp. a thick pair of forearms have snaked their way around your waist, caging you in against a firm chest, and you only know it’s your boyfriend - your boyfriend, not a home invader - by the familiar smell of leather and cigarettes and fresh air.

he may as well be a home invader. he’s been gone for almost a week: stormed out, left his key, meaning he must have come in through the window. both of you have been too caught up in your own pride to text the other. and you’ve missed him so, so much, and you’ve been half out of your mind with worry, but navigating your first fight as a couple is hard enough as it is without the concern of pissing him off more and making him shoot someone.

you melt back into his body despite everything. “are you hurt?”

jason hums against where he’s buried his head into your hair. “no.”, he says, pulling you closer, and then-“i missed you. i missed you a lot.”

“i wouldn’t have known, considering how you vanished for six days and didn’t bother to text me.”

even though you’re doing your best to sound scathing, you know he’s unconvinced; you’ve hardly slept for missing him, your body is fighting to fold into his embrace, and you know you sound on the verge of tears. jason presses a kiss to your head. “i got caught up with work. i’m sorry.”

he’s apologising for more than that, you know. his gloved fingers have begun to trace circles on your waist through the fabric of the gotham university sweatshirt you stole from his drawer. “i’m sorry too, jay.”

“it wasn’t your fault-”, he murmurs, dipping his head even lower so he can intersperse his words with kisses to your shoulder. “-i was being a dick. don’t apologise.”

you interlace the fingers of each hand with his own. “it took you a week to realise that, huh? i just... i care about you, jason.”, you sigh, squeezing his hands as his breath hitches uncertainly. “i care about you a lot. i don’t want you getting hurt out there.”

“let’s not talk about work right now. yeah?”

jason’s voice is bordering on shaking - a bad week, maybe, a few close calls or too many dead bodies - but his touch is firm against you, like he’s anchoring himself from your body, and you think you’re falling in love with him but you don’t really want to be. this will be your life. you nod, silently, and tilt your head to capture his lips in your own.

he responds instantly. it’s softer than he ought to be: jason is hard lines and rough edges wrapped around a warm but broken core, and it feels wrong to have such a hardened man kissing you like he’s afraid he’s going to break you. this is your jason, though, so you wrap your arms around his neck, run your fingers through his hair, when he spins you in his arms to face him.

your heart nearly breaks when he whispers against your lips, “don’t leave me yet-”, tugging you further into him by the small of your back and kissing you again. you’d only meant to pull away for a moment - cup his cheeks and tell him, everything will be okay - but he sounds so lost and instead, you push up onto your tiptoes and kiss him harder.

this is your jason, and he needs you even more than you need him. “i won’t, jay, i never will.”
