I love the fact, that Angela gave birth to Dwight’s child (thought she some time denied it is his) and in the finale married Dwight after all.
So I expect nothing less from Hughie.
obsessed over these two tall humans getting spooked by a shorter blonde person

What fandoms/ships do you write for?
oh thank you, op, truly.
i've been meaning to make a post like this but never got the time to, but now i have a reason to do it!!
let's divide this nicely by type of media:
book/book series:
percy jackson series/heroes of olympus/magnus chase/the kane chronicles/the trials of apollo-anything rick riordan basically-i only write the canonical ships, but i'm willing to try rarepairs as well
the harry potter series (books and movies)-my ships include drastoria, jily, hinny, scorlily :))) also willing to do certain rarepairs like daphnextheo and the like
the hunger games series-mostly really finnick x annie tbh, but willing to do katniss x peeta and works with johanna as well
divergent- same thing, mostly canonical pairs
the maze runner series- primarily thomesa actually
the lunar chronicles- the canonical pairs again
oh, any other popular series works as well like the chronicles of narnia
there may be other ya series or just book series im missing. you can prompt and ask and i'll probably have read it. or dm me as well!! my dms are always open!!
movies/movie series:
any book to movie adaptions are fair game.
inception- i'm obsessed with arthur x ariadne and saito x cobb, dont @ me
mcu!!! i'll write for tasertricks, drukkari, yonvers, sambucky, stucky, stony, pepperony, thorbruce, gilgamesh x thena, shangchi x katy, fosterson!!! all of those are fair game. otherwise, while i'm an avid watcher for the whole universe and i'm familiar with all the characters, i may or may not write for them. if it's a tv show or a movie, send me a prompt, and i'll 9 to 10 odds answer it and write something.
actually, also realized i'd write dc-verse too. diana x steve, bruce x clark, clark x lois, the usual. i do both current dc verse, and the nolan movies (for batman) and even older like the michael keaton movies. i actually watched them all, so idm.
any and all romcoms and chick flicks. like 10 things i hate about you, yes. legally blonde, yes. dont even think twice and just ask.
tv shows (american/british):
sitcoms!! love them.
here's the ones i'll write for: parks and rec (benslie my beloved), nhie (benvi ples), the office (pam x jim mostly but angela x dwight too!), the good place (literally anything. just no eleanor x jason, like that's the only notp), b99 (peraltiago, im a whore). send me a sitcom and i've probs watched it tbh-superstore, kim's convenience, and whatnot. all of them work.
any mcu show or dc-verse show. all of them are fair game. i'm into cloak and dagger, arrow, the flash, jessica jones, daredevil. yk your usual
for british tv shows, it's your usual. sherlock (sherlolly mostly but johnlock works too), merlin (literalLY ANYTHING-they're all so hot), doctor who (10th doctor and rose, im basic yes).
shows/graphic novels (other):
i write other bc this includes anime, manga, kdramas, jdramas, cdramas, t-dramas, and even thai dramas. so im a woman of wide interests as you can see.
anime/mangas:
kaichou wa maid sama- usui x misaki
ouran high school host club- anything with kyoya. i have mostly read oc or reader inserts and i'm not ashamed.
kiss him not me- all ships are fair game, but i prefer the GAY ONES.
your lie in april-canon only ples, and i dont acknowledge the ending so [redacted] doesnt happen
blackbird! i love the main couple, but like im in love with zenki ngl
seirou opera! main couple,,,, enemies to lovers vibe so true
actually any romance manga is fair game, i'm an absolute hedonist when it comes to romance- fluff, smut, angst, i take it all.
wolf girl and black prince- ik it's bla bla blah, dont @ me. i'll write kyouya x erika.
kdramas:
i'm not even joking when i say this but literally anything.
anything i've already written. anything that has aired after 2010 is fair game. i'm obsessed is an understatement.
do not even hesitate please! drop that prompt! ships, well, usually i write canon. that's the only caveat. i write canon. (dm me bc i have some cross-show ships)
actually i'll write for lots of kmovies as well.
thai dramas:
i liked u-prince dont @ me. i do not see it. and i will write it.
and most recently, f4.
for taiwanese dramas, chinese dramas and japanese dramas, drop me a dm or an ask with a prompt and i'll contact you depending on whether i've seen it.
so yeah,,,,, that's all :)))) hopefully this gives you some prompting cushion, op

“This is how I think of “shipping”: When you start shipping someone, it starts out as a little sailboat. As hints are seen (in the actual show, movie, book, game, etc.), the sailboat slowly grows larger. When it becomes canon, the boat becomes a giant pirate ship with cannons (get it?). If the people suddenly break up, that means the ship ran into a giant Broken-Love-Iceberg.“
-me (HarmonyTRE)
(P. S. All of these I ship platonically too, and the younger couples are only wholesome. NONE of these I ship in more than romantic ways. And some of them I don’t ship now, but shipped when I was younger so they feel nostalgic. So if the ship seems odd, it’s probably that asdfghjkl.)

Imagine your first fight with Jim
Jim halpert x reader -- The office
~~~~~
Dwight's pov
"Can you stop typing so loudly?"
Jim just looks up at him and then goes back to work.
"What no comeback today?" Dwight narrows his eyes.
"Nope."
"well that's good. What is it? had a fight with y/n?? because most office relationships don't last anyways."
"okay, well we're fine so." He says and walks into the kitchen. Dwight looks over at you but you haven't looked up once yet today. That's odd.
Dwight facing the cameras
They're not going to last very long. Not many office romances do, plus y/n is way out of his league...
~
Dwight walked over to your desk- "What's wrong with Jim? Are you guys fighting? "
"Um no we're fine."
"Lies. Then why aren't you guys talking?"
"Because we're working."
"I'll get to the bottom of this."
"it's really not a big deal." Michael comes out of his office.
"what's going on here?" He says walking over to you guys.
"y/n and Jim are fighting." Dwight states loudly, making some people gasp.
"is it the sex y/n?"
"Michael- " Jim speaks up. "no. No we're fine"
"I'm just sayin."
"were fine. Why don't we all just get back to work."
"alright you heard Jimbo everybody back to work."
~~~
Jim looking at the cameras
Yeah me and y/n are not speaking to each other but it's just over a small disagreement. Why is everyone so interested in this?
~
Your pov
You looked up at the clock 10 more minutes until lunch! But... since you and Jim are fighting maybe he doesn't want to sit with you. Hmm. You'll just have to sit with the girls today. You walked over to Angela's desk, feelings Jim's eyes on you.
"Hey Angela can I sit with you at lunch today?"
"Oh Sure!... So did something happen with you and Jim?" She whispers the last part.
"No no I just figured I would sit with my friends today."
~You To the cameras~
It wasn't a complete lie. I did want to sit with my friends. ~
"Okay. You keep telling yourself that and when you're ready to talk about it, I'm here."
You just stared at her and then walked away. rude.
You went into the kitchen and got your salad out, Angela following suit. You both sit down at the table with Phyllis and Andy coming in.
"Oh hey y/n. You're sitting with us today? "
"Uh oh trouble in Paradise" Andy says.
"No not trouble in Paradise. Just wanted to hang with the girls today there's nothing wrong with that"
"That's not what Dwight said."
"Yeah well he's- he's just making assumptions like you guys." Jim walks in quickly looking at you then at everyone else just standing around.
"What's going on in here."
"Oh nothing" Phyllis says.
"O . Kay. Excuse Me Andy." Jim says getting his sandwich out of the fridge starting to walk away.
"Woah you're not staying here for lunch?"
"No I'm going to eat at my desk I have a lot of work to do." You raised your eyebrows hurt but didn't bother looking at him.
Andy follows jim out ~~
"Hey big tuna, anything you wanna tell me?"
"Nope."
"Well you know you can always talk to me."
"Thank you andy."
"No problem…….so … ?"
"So what ?"
"Why aren't you and y/n talking?"
"We had a fight that's all. I'll talk to her soon."
"Oh what about ?"
"nothing important."
~~~
~Ryan to the cameras~
I've heard the rumors about Jim and y/n. I'm hoping to get close to her and maybe ask her on date or something she may leave him for me. I did like her first.
~
You were at your desk and Ryan came up:
"Hey y/n can you make me a copy I don't know how to do double sided."
"Sure it's okay."
You guys went over to the copier. From Jim's pov all it looked like was Ryan was flirting and making you laugh.
"can you guys keep it down we have people trying to work." Dwight said.
"Sorry" you still were smiling.
"So what happened with you and Jim?"
"We just had a small fight nothing bad."
"That sucks but I'm here if you need me."
"Thanks."
Michael came out of his office to hand Jim a piece of paper. "Here you guys might need this."
"what's this?"
"phone number to a sex therapist. Wasn't sure if that was a thing but there it was-"
"nooo we don't need that."
He was getting jealous and he couldn't take it anymore, he wanted to talk to you. He got to from his desk walking to the reception area: "Hey I'm sorry about this morning can we talk quickly."
Jim to the cameras~
Maybe I was overreacting this morning. Why is everyone suddenly flirting with y/n?
~
"Um sure." You guys head into the kitchen.
"I shouldn't have said that this morning I'm sorry. if you want to go to LA and do that then that's great and I'm happy for you. I'll come out to see you it's not that long only three months we can make this work."
"Are you sure I appreciate that but I want you to be honest."
"I am being 100% serious. I love you. It's your dream job and I'm not going to hold you back from that.."
"Thank you so much Jim. I love you too." You guys Hug, smiling you guys walk back into the main area.
"Looks like you two are happy again."
"Dwight why don't you look into your top drawer."
"Why???.....- Jim seriously. Now you put my phone in jello? .. MICHAEL!" You laughed hard and Ryan looked down disappointed that you and Jim are on good terms again.
~Ryan Into the camera~
Am I happy that Jim and y/n made up? Sure. am I disappointed? Yes, I was hoping to you know strike up a conversation and ask her to dinner but it's cool… I'll get her soon.
Jim to the cameras
I'm going to miss y/n very much like three months?? it's going to be hard but we'll get through this. We will. We're not like other couples, so I'm not too worried about anything. I'm just happy she's getting to do her dream job or at least training to do her dream job.
Tell me what you guys think !!!
Dwangela
When I watched the office I expect myself to fall in love with Pam/Jim dynamic but I fell in love with Dwight/ Angela dynamic.
I don’t know it’s just something in their chemistry, the slow-burn, the angst and the frustration made me root for them till the end. Kudos to Rainn Wilson and Angela Kinsey for playing them so well. I mean Angela is the complete opposite of Angela( if you listen to podcast of her and Jenna and interviews). With Rainn, he gives a bit of Dwight vibes but still different from him. Overall, Dwight and Angela is so different and the same time fits so well together. They are both miserable without each other but wouldn’t admit it. I am also a sucker for smol-tol couples. I mean Angela’s height barely reach Dwight’s shoulder and that’s with shoes.
Season 2- I presume that’s when their relationship starts? I love their little long glances here and there. And the sexual tension🔥kudos to Rainn and Angela for playing it so well. I really love the moment where Angela gave the bobble head to Dwight and you could see the genuine bliss from his face, and him asking Pam for gifts ideas is just so adorable. I love from here on you could see that Dwight is such an odd character with weird personalities but he treat Angela like a gentleman, respects her and clearly adore her. I also love how Angela is so supportive of her boyfriend especially the episode where Dwight was the best sales man.
Season 3- This season we get to see more of their relationship. I personally love the Christmas episode where Dwight was comforting Angela after the day she had: that little handholding again proves that Dwight is a loving and supportive boyfriend and also we got to hear their nickname to each other. I love how Dwight called her monkey and how Angela called him D so affectionately. I have a little theory of where the nickname derived from; maybe it’s like a code name for each other cause in a deleted scene in the episode where they go meet Jim in the convention, Dwight was calling Angela in front of Michael; and he was using her nickname. Or maybe when she was staying over, there was a high shelf that she could not reach so she climbed around since she did not want to ask for help, and Dwight was witnessing it quietly, thus decided to call her that. Of course, at first Angela would not agree to be call an animal but secretly she likes it because it’s their little secret. Then the convict episode, they decided to sit together as most of the episode prior to this episode you never seen them sitting together just glances here and there. I also liked Dwight’s iconic smirk, that lil smirk they he puts whenever it involves his lady friend. There are so many more that I love.
Season 4&5- for me these 2 season is filled with angst and made me feel sorry for Dwight. The first episode of season 4 started well with their secret gate away place with Angela asking Dwight to take care of sprinkles but Dwight has to mercy kill sprinkles: it’s cruel and inhuman, I understand and feel sad for Angela, it’s one of her first cat that she adopted and it meant a lot to her. She thought Dwight would understand but he went and kill her cat and the part where he wanted to compensate her with garbage; that was so cute but was hoping Dwight would understand that no cat will fill sprinkles gap but still the image of Dwight and the cat; just cute. I think they would gotten back together much faster if they communicate sooner. My heart breaks for both of them but my heart breaks more when Angela started to date Andy. Personally, they are the weirdest couple combination(even worse than jan/ Michael). Dwight proving that he could win against the computer is so Dwight if winning back your lady friend; and Angela not having any of it makes my heart ache for Dwight. And the part where Angela agrees on going out with him:( I just feel like Rainn did such a good job portraying. I feel like the whole season 4 is the phase where Dwight tried to move on but fail( again foreshadowing that they belong together). But they eventually got back together I guess during the episode where nobody was in the office except them. Again their sexual tension filled up the whole office and you can literally feel it( foreshadowing that they are going to get it on in the finale of season 4(?)) in season 5 we open with them getting it on in the warehouse( indication been going on since the summer). Now Cheating is bad and immoral, it would be better that would have communicate, and again I think it’s both their fault. I think Dwight was desperate in any means to be together with Angela because of how he loves her. His love for her burns with a passion so much that he would do anything just to be with her. And I feel like Angela was just meh just contemplating if she wants to take the risk( of being with the one she loves) or some one more safe and stable( Andy). She’s conflicted and at the same time has a lot of pride. Personally, at this point I hated how she handled the situation leading them on. During the duel episode I am kinda glad they both left her. I think at that point she realised how she should have thought it through with the men in her life; being greedy and holding on will make you lose both of them. And I guess they didn’t talk for the rest of the season after that. But we didn’t see Angela’s side of the relationship but it was disclosed in the deleted scenes with the volleyball episode where Dwight defended her; you can see that she has remorse and regret with what she did; clearly she still has feelings for him.
Season 6&7- with season 6, Dwight’s love for Angela is still there but this time he is more guarded and not as reckless as season 4-5 because this woman that he loves hurt him and he’s not sure if he’s willing to go through it again. The episode where he wanted a baby; he asked Angela of all the people indicate that he still thinks highly of her. Of course with how their dynamic is, they have a Contract to go with it; and Angela was hoping that Dwight would fall in love with her again in the baby making process. And Dwight got reluctant as they got through the baby making process. He feel more guarded and reluctant but Angela refused to let it go( her way of wanting to get back in any means(?)) so she found a loophole in the contract and wanted them to procreate for 5 more times expecting Dwight to fall in love with her again. Of course that didn’t work because Dwight seem uninterested to get back to her; so eventually she tries to move on with the senator. I think Dwight wanted to be more alert and not throw himself to love unguarded and with passion. I understand that from what he experienced he wanted to love more cautiously.
Season 8-season 8( we are nearly there), Angela is engaged to the senator. Still she cheated the senator with Dwight. Again they always seem to finds way to get back in any means. Again, Dwight is willing to let this affair happen because he still loves her but not like how he used to love her but regardless still love her so he decided to sleep with her. When Philip was born, you can see the elation in Dwight’s face and how he is certain the boy is his and how he still believed till the end of the season. I don’t understand why Angela still wanted kept the truth from him ( maybe to stretch out their relationship( writers idea?)) maybe of her pride and that she did not want to be an embarrassment?
Season 9- the season starts with the paternity test being negative dun dun dun. But I am still convince that Philip is his( as a Viewer anyway). And we get to the episode where the senator is revealed as being gay and Oscar is cheating with the senator. I love how the first person she seeks is Dwight and how Dwight misunderstand the situation😂. He still wants to help her despite everything, and comforted her. The end part of the episode just sends me when they ask tony about homosexuals. I think at this point you can see their relationship continues to heal and reconcile by means of being a proper friendship. I personally love it when during the Christmas episode, Dwight decided to just whip Oscar dying the bershnike part and he did a little glance to Angela . In 9x16, when they were both taking care of his aunt; I guess that is the only time we get to see glimpses on how Angela was when he was dating him( when she was staying over in the farm). And we could see Dwight’s love for her rekindle more; and with the timing and everything with the senator he jumped the opportunity by kissing her and declare that he wanted her back in her life, how they were meant together( that was the sweetest part). Interestingly the slaughter house turns them on😂. I love at this point Dwight put everything on the table and lay out his love for her, but as stubborn and prideful Angela is, she rejected him( i want to make more in-depth writing in this with the what ifs if Angela does swallow her pride and decided to get back to him). And we get to the few episode where Angela’s life when downhill when the senator reveal himself and also apparently cheated on Oscar; it takes a crisis in her life to become a better person like appreciating things around her, the thing she lost( I.e Dwight). I really love the part where Oscar and Angela supported each other, and the hand holding is just shows their evolved friendship. I also love the part where Angela pour her heart out infornt of Oscar. I think the Esther and Dwight dynamic; is a way that Dwight wanting to move on but can’t( with Esther being perfect on paper). Lastly the episode where Philip was in( he’s so cute and he’s look just like Dwight), the inner dilemma that he faces to propose to esther; and the speech that Jim gave to Dwight is just shows even they are frenemies they still have the utmost respect between them. The proposal scene is one of my fav scene in season 9. It’s just so them( I mean even with their last season ended with a car chase) it’s just so dramatic and them. I can imagine what Philip and their other kids would have to face with their parents. That was my finally moment, where I was like finally they admit their feelings🥺. I was literally cheering and screaming. I love the pure elation with Dwight’s face when Angela Said I love you; I always liked the little smile and the smiles where she’s around Dwight. She so beautiful when she smiles. The part with Philip is so I just was so happy. In the finale, the wedding is just so then weird but perfect. I wish they include the part where Dwight made Oscar the godfather.
Overall, I just love them so much; they were such a rollercoaster and I am glad they lived happily ever after with Schrute babies running around. They were also one of my otp who got together after a long time( most of my OTP didn’t make it :,(). I just wished we see more of it after the proposal scene with that 1 year time skip and personally I think we would see more of their relationship if they got back together in 9x16. Really bravo to Angela and Rainn for playing them so well.
5 Reasons Why “The Office US” is the Best Show EVER
One of the most memorable and successful American TV shows is none other than “The Office”. This television series aired from 2005-2013, yet it is still a very popular show that people watch on live-streaming services such as Netflix, over and over again because it never gets old, and its humor continues to keep audiences hooked. The show is portrayed in a documentary style, where a never-seen camera crew follows around the office workers (interviewing them from time to time), and is focused around a seemingly boring paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. With nine seasons of romance, huge laughs, pranks and awkward moments, “The Office” is widely known to be one of the best shows to ever be on TV. Each character that is a part of the cast is unique in their own cooky way, and they quickly become endearing to the viewer. They make the viewer believe that their dream job is to be a paper salesman in Scranton! Becoming one of the most beloved television sitcoms in history is no easy task, but in support of this idea, here is my list of five reasons why this show was and remains the best.
1. The Plot
The plot is one of the key aspects that makes this show great. The idea of a documentary crew filming everyday life in a paper company office? Though maybe odd-sounding, it is actually hysterical -- while at the same time, being strangely relatable. This is what grabs the viewer’s attention, to want to continue watching it since it turns a job that is originally thought of as boring, into a comedic environment that the viewer can’t stop watching -- wanting to see what could possibly come next. There are a lot of people in the US who work in offices similar to Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch. It could easily be anyone, sitting making sales calls about cardstock. Because the viewer can easily picture themselves working in such an environment, it adds additional intrigue into what the next episode (or even the next scene) will bring!
The idea of filming the shenanigans of seemingly regular people at their regular job is a simple one. With the added bizarreness of Regional Manager Michael Scott, the show’s hilarity is elevated even more, and in a way only “The Office” can be, all in the little town of Scranton, Pennsylvania. While it may seem odd to have this popular show be centered around a fairly unknown town, it is the heart and soul of Dunder Mifflin, and adds to the show’s charm.
2. The Setting
“The Office” needed to ground itself in a real city, and it found its voice in the mundane details of everyday life. Having the setting of this show be in a little town in Pennsylvania, makes it unique, yet also very relatable to everyday Americans. Scranton is indeed a smaller town in Pennsylvania, that is not really well known, but the people who do live there notice the tiny details they see in their town, like lesser-known company and brand names and and “Ma and Pa” shops. These small things that are put into scenes of this show, really grab the attention of many people, and not just the locals from Pennsylvania. It is part of the show’s genius, and helps the viewer fee a part of the fun.
This proves that the writers of “The Office” paid attention to where they were setting the story. The fact that this place is just a normal, everyday town with a slightly abnormal company, makes the show relatable to us and funny all at once. What the show did for the town of Scranton was almost unmatched, in that people started to go there to tour it and to see where this great show was filmed, and of course, where all the love stories from the show began. It created a reputation of Scranton that no one could have imagined when the show started.
3. The Love Stories
A lot of love fills the air in this TV series, which is an aspect that makes the audiences want to keep on watching as well. Everyone loves a good love story! There are multiple amorous adventures (i.e., love triangles) that form throughout the 9 seasons of “The Office.” Some examples of these include the very clingy Kelly and her love-interest Ryan, an on and off relationship between Angela and her love-interest Dwight, Phyllis and her husband Bob Vance, and of course everyone’s favorite, Jim and Pam.
One vexing issue with the relationship between Pam and Jim is that they have to deal with a never-ending flood of distractions like Roy (Pam’s old boyfriend), along the way to an incredible marriage ceremony in what has become an iconic cliffhanger episode. However, Jim and Pam aren’t perfect, and yet, that’s what makes them feel like the perfect couple to the viewer. They’re just two average people who just happen to work in the same zany office. If they can find love in that everyday environment, why can’t I? They deal with losses, distance, and breakups and everything else that life throws at normal couples today.
4. The Humor
“The Office” is mainly loved for its great humor. This show is my all time favorite because no matter how many times I have seen an episode, many of them still make me laugh out loud, even if I am by myself. People like myself who watch “The Office” over and over again, cry laughing more times than one can count and it never seems to get old -- that’s not easy to do (when the viewer knows exactly what’s coming next.) It is the comedic acting, timing and skill that make the show what it is.
From examples like the “That’s what she said” jokes by Michael Scott, to the pranks that happened between Jim and Dwight on a daily basis, to the weird sentences that seem to come out of Creed’s mouth, “The Office” brings a brand of humor that is not offered in most other shows we watch today.
5. The Characters
This show is absolutely character-driven, without a doubt. Every single episode involves Michael doing something mind-numbingly rude or outlandish, Dwight being insane and Jim’s popular “look” into the camera. The cast that was chosen to play the roles of these characters were very skillful in improvisation since it is a huge part of what makes this show a great comedy. They really play the roles of the characters like they were really talking to the viewer. What really makes them stand out is that they are all unique and yet, relatable at the same time.
It is easy to see yourself as Pam, for example, wondering if a receptionist is all she will ever be, and debating whether or not she can chase her dream by going to art school. Even Michael has relatable characteristics -- in wanting desperately to be loved and admired. All the characters bring something to the table; even those the viewer never thought would matter. The actors that play these characters, really bring the best out of themselves to help us grow closer to them as you watch. It doesn’t take long before the viewer connects with each of them, and that is a big part of what makes “The Office” extraordinary.
The actors skill in portraying the characters in the way they do, wrapped-up in zany plot-lines, really sets up this comedy in ways that are incredible and well thought out by the writers and directors of this show. This aspect also helps the viewer really dig deeper into the emotions of each character and what roles they play in any particular plot-line. But, perhaps most importantly, the viewer will get three main things out of watching “The Office” that seem to be universal: the viewer will laugh at all of the jokes made by Michael and his fellow employees, cry of laughter when they do things we never would think are funny, and you will want to continue watching because it will never get old.
“The office after a zombie apocalypse”
Dwight and Angela are already a couple with a few toddlers and another on its way. it’s been 5 years since the human necrocannibal outbreak and Pam’s family didn’t make it but eventually she warms up to me and we start our own family. Dwight has always been wary of me, and I of him. We both know we would take each other out if it meant saving ours and our families lives. One day a horde comes passing through. It’s time. As Dwight gets ready to use me as bait so everyone else can escape I do the unexpected. Kneecap Angela. She has finally served her purpose to me. Dwight loves her and at first refuses to leave. He’ll defend her until the end. She tells him to think of their children and cats. He reluctantly agrees, sobbing he gets up and starts to run away, but oh no! He’s been circled. He is able to fight off so many of the zombies... and yet... it’s not enough. They get to her. They get his Angela. Meanwhile everyone else is long gone. (We had an understanding that our children would marry as to avoid messing up the genes.) still he fought enough off that he’s able to go back in and barricade himself in the barn. He hides under a hay pile. Going back and forth from crying quietly to cursing my name. Weeks pass. We are all so sad about what happened to Dwight and Angela but we have adopted they’re kids and treat them like our own. We even passed by another family as we were heading down the road... trying to escape our past. It was a brief but friendly meeting. They were heading northwest and us south. Trying to find a new, warmer home...we find this family seeing Dwight, a shallow husk of the man he once was. He asks them if they’ve seen any blind children with two brown haired parents. The family looks uncomfortable but tells him, yes just south of here a few days back, Dwight smiles sinisterly at the news..... a few months have passed and we are settled into a quite corner of Georgia. The soils a bit hard but it gets the job done. We still deal with the odd zombie here and there but.. nothing like what happened at the farm. Thank god. And yet I feel uneasy. Somewhere deep down I can feel something coming. Or maybe I just feel like I deserve it..... that night...... a fire breaks out in our celery fields. We hear a inhuman laugh. With a booming voice we hear “HAHAHAAAA OF COURSE ‘YOU’ WOULD GROW CELERY! YOU COULDNT FARM ANYTHING ELSE YOU FLACHWICHSER!” My blood runs cold. This is the day I had feared would come. I look out the window and see a horde following him. I rush my beloved Pam and the children into the cellar and cover the trapdoor with a rug and the table. This is my fight and mine alone. I walk outside. The few zombie stragglers tumble towards me. I make short work of them with my metal pipe but the blood and brains have made it to slick to handle. I run back inside hoping to get my gun and katana. I barely manage to make it out of the front door when I have to fight off the beginning of the horde. Katana slashing and stabbing what I can I must retreat. I run out the back door and out into the fields. I can hear his laughter all around me somehow drowning out the moans of the seemingly hundred undead. And then it gets quite. I just notice the last few “thunks” as they happen. Dwight walks out from the back door looking right at me. Nunchucks in hand he says “you know I can never forgive you for what you did. We had an understanding that it would be one of us that stayed behi-“ I shout “ONE OF US?! That’s a funny way of saying it would be me. We both know I couldn’t beat you one on one like that. I had to think about MY family.” He takes a moment to think, reminiscing about the good ol days working at dundermifflin. His thoughts turn to his friend Jim. With a single tear in his eye he says. “It was never supposed to be you.” We look at each other. I ready the katana we had taken from his farm... his katana. He readies his nunchucks. We run to each other weapons glaring..... cut to black roll credits. Post credit scene. We see a older Pam watching the teenaged children working the fields. The knowledge of farming has for more or less left them, but as we know, anyone can farm celery. One of the teenager children plowing the fields scream. Pam rushes over to find me and Dwight as zombies, still locked in combat even in death. It’s to much for her. She breaks down crying as one of the shrute kids end our conflict with a shovel... fade to grey. The End
Edit let me know what you think (first time writing for fun)
Shore Leave
Air Date: December 29, 1966
Writer: Theodore Sturgeon
Director: Robert Sparr
Shore Leave is an interesting episode, an entertaining episode, but is it a good episode? I don’t know. There’s a long sequence of fisticuffs between Captain Kirk and the facsimile of an Academy bully, a knight is shot with a six-shooter, a tiger and a samurai - plenty of action, not much brains.
We open with an unexplored planet - and for once it’s not a desert! Well, okay, it’s southern California desert to be fair.
Then again, there is a distinct difference between the original and remastered versions...
So we meet Yeoman Rand’s replacement, Yeoman Barrows, in the opener. Kirk is short with her (as usual), she starts massaging his back and he changes his tune...until he realizes it isn’t Spock doing it.
No wonder people got gay vibes from them...
Spock says that after what the ship and its crew has been through in the last three months, they need some relaxation (not Spock though - wasting energy is highly illogical.)
So this episode takes place in February of 2267. Looking at my source, some of the episodes that took place in the three months prior to this one include Court Martial, The Menagerie, Dagger of the Mind, and The Conscience of the King, with nothing notable occuring in December but Charlie X having taken place in November and The Naked Time having occurred in October; though Balance of Terror was the previous episode, it actually took place in December of 2265.
These people need a break.
(When this season is done I intend to compile a chronological order of episodes.)
Sulu and Bones check out the planet, and Bones runs into a man in a rabbit costume, followed shortly after by Alice.
His reaction is about the same as mine would be - “did I just see that? Does this planet have vaporized LDS in the atmosphere?”
Never take too much LDS
Kirk thinks Bones is joking about the rabbit - wait a minute, Spock is there, and his mom used to read him Alice in Wonderland...
Shhh! Soft reboot!
Spock confronts Kirk about him needing a vacation by reversing the psychology - Kirk demands this crewman who is under all sorts of pressure and overwork get down to the planet and enjoy himself right this minute now that’s an ORDER! Spock gives him the name of the crewman...well played, Spock. Well played.
So then there’s a menacing shot of a gun under a hinged rock. I’m sure that’ll never show up again.
It does. In fact, Kirk later uses it to blow away a knight that kills Bones.
So why isn’t it called Sulu’s Gun?
"If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there."— Trope Namer Anton Chekhov (From S. Shchukin, Memoirs. 1911.)
Ironic that the first actual gun that counts as a Chekhov’s Gun in Star Trek appears 14 episodes before a character named Chekhov does.
We’re given a few shots of a couple of crewmen throughout the episode, token lower deck redshirt-tier characters who are named but barely characterized and only shown because we know they aren’t going to kill Kirk, Sulu, Bones, or Barrows. Hell, they didn’t even Yar Yeoman Rand, she just stopped appearing after Balance of Terror.
If you’re a sharp-eyed viewer like me, you’ll recognize Angela here on the right as the bride-to-be from Balance of Terror. It may strike you as odd how she’s apparently moved on again so quickly, but again, this episode takes place about 14 months later so the grieving process is likely finished. Mildly (at best) interestingly, she also appears in the final televised episode of Star Trek, Turnabout Intruder as a communications officer. Sometimes when canon isn’t as solid as you’re used to, you dig up every connection you can.
Mama Kirk has to make sure his people on the surface are safe, so he leaves Spock the keys and beams down to the planet.
(WHERE THE HELL IS MY SHUTTLECRAFT?)
Now we get the first of several long running scenes. Seriously, there’s more running in this episode than a Tom Cruise movie, they made the cast work on this one.
Finding the source of the gunshots, it’s Sulu with the old fashioned gun. He’s talking about it very lovingly, he even implies that he collects old weapons. Bones rolls his eyes (Bones is one of those alcoholics that thinks he’s collecting) and Kirk takes the weapon.
I wonder why...
Then Kirk begins talking about this upperclassman at the Academy who was always pulling old-school ‘oatmeal bucket over the door’ pranks on him, some asshole named Finnegan. Bones laughs at Kirk for being a grim cadet, which fits in Gary Mitchell’s description of Lt. Kirk as a stack of books with legs; Kirk was a serious student at the Academy, and the maverick hotshot of the Kelvin films didn’t come into being until the TOS films got rolling. (I mean yeah, he did the Kobayashi Maru but it’s a streak of mischief, not a natural inclination towards it.)
Enter: Finnegan
Finnegan goads Kirk into a chase, and with information presented at the end I came to the conclusion that Kirk wants nothing more than to slingshot around the sun, go back in time, and beat the fucking shit out of Finnegan.
He’s asking for it!
Someone who ISN’T asking for it is Yeoman Barrows, whose screams and torn uniform imply that the Don Juan she conjured up tried to rape her. I guess Sulu fought him off, but then Sulu takes off after him? I really, really try to keep Takei and Sulu separate (I am not going to talk about recent allegations regarding George Takei), but between this and his interactions with Riley in The Naked Time...I’m reading Sulu as gay. I’m not really sorry, and he is with a man in Beyond, so...
Moving on.
Kirk goes off in hot pursuit, but then he’s stopped by a flower...and Ruth!
Is this the legendary blonde scientist who Kirk almost married in his Academy days? Kirk says he hasn’t seen her in 15 years, and if he’s 2 years into his 5-year mission on the Enterprise and served in Starfleet since he was 20 or so...
Nah, I still prefer to think the unnamed woman Gary Mitchell aimed at Kirk was Carol Marcus. As I said, you dig for any threads of continuity you can.
So Kirk totally forgets Sulu, he’s almost drunk with seeing Ruth, and Spock reports he’s found evidence of stuff that’s only there to keep the plot moving. Barrows makes a big deal about how enchanting the planet is (which I find funny because I lived in SoCal and while it’s great, I wouldn’t exactly call it enchanting) down to conjuring up a laughably costume-ish medieval princess costume.
It becomes clear Bones is going to bone Barrows.
This man may belong on Pimp Space 9...
There’s a tiger, and a samurai, and a knight, and an old fashioned fighter jet! This episode partly runs like it was written on the fly and guess what? It was! Gene kept re-writing it on set as it was being filmed.
So the knight kills Bones, and Kirk kills the knight. Barrows goes into hysterics because she conjured the knight and Mama Kirk tells her to buck up and do her duty. He’s not gentle, but this isn’t a gentle situation. Angela dies too because of the airplane.
We then enter a long sequence of Kirk chasing and fighting Finnegan. I got the feeling it was long because it was padding out the episode, but it is a pretty satisfying fight. Kirk keeps demanding answers, but Finnegan refuses to give them to him. Finally, Kirk puts Finnegan down.
Spock asks if he enjoyed it. Kirk did, Spock is not convinced; Kirk kills, Spock judges.
Another running scene where basically everything comes after them, they meet at the glade. Apparently Barrows conjured up a repaired shirt, but Kirk can’t be bothered. Some asshole alien shows up and explains everything, then tells them they aren’t ready to understand his race yet; Spock agrees (of course he does.)
Sure, you can use my planetary holodeck for all your sex and violence desires
My favorite scene is at the end, when Bones shows up alive and well with two bunnies on his arms and a story about their wondrous facilities underground. Barrows is not impressed, but given the choice between the cabaret girls and Barrows, I’d probably choose Barrows as well.
Now I understand why they call him ‘Bones’
Kirk almost declines shore leave when Ruth reappears. When Barclay did it, it was creepy; you just don’t go LARPing your work-life fan fiction at your job after all, that’s some Dwight Schrute-level weirdness right there. But on a planet in deep space, run by some aliens who let you play with their crayons but otherwise don’t think you’re ready to hang out with them after school, well...you can do that sort of thing. Let’s hope Ruth never finds out - although I like to imagine Finnegan never moved past lieutenant and Kirk pulled strings to have him working desk duty on a Neutral Zone outpost.
Wait...
In the end, the crew returns to the bridge after an unknown number of days on the planet to Spock’s eternal judgement. Worth it.
Rating: 3/5; Don’t Rewatch
While Shore Leave proves to be an entertaining episode, it’s a fairly shallow episode that has nothing under the surface (excellent facilities notwithstanding.)
The Office Recap: Crime Aid (season 5)
Yeah guys, I’m starting with season 5. To be honest I didn’t really have an idea for this blog until now, and I’m currently in the middle of season 5, so that’s where I’ll begin. I’ll talk about earlier episodes eventually.
Main premise: The office is robbed overnight, leaving Michael to hold an auction to raise money to replace the lost items.
Side hustles: Dwight asks Phyllis for advice about Angela…in secret. And Jim runs into Roy at a local bar.
So yeah, Michael’s up to his old “raise money to help silly causes” thing again. Only this time, it’s to help the office after they’ve gotten robbed…because he forgot to lock the doors after a late-night makeout session with Holly. Surprisingly, people go for it. Now if it were me, I’d be wondering why I’d have to give away my personal money, made while working AT that company probably, for the benefit of the rest of the office, but people don’t seem to think this is odd in any way…? Even David Wallace shows up for some reason, but mostly to serves as a plot device that will shape the next few seasons. I’ll get to that later. Michael’s antics aren’t even my favorite thing in this one.
Meanwhile, Dwight is doing Dwight things in the break room while making a knife out of a knife. Phyllis knows that he’s upset about the situation with Angela and asks Dwight if he wants to talk about it. In Dwight fashion, he rejects this offer, but finds ways throughout the episode to sneak in his vent sessions, including talking into the refrigerator door with Phyllis nearby (”I’m talking to myself!”). He probably doesn’t want to be caught discussing his problems with another woman. We do learn Phyllis’ theory on why she is with Andy: because Andy isn’t a risk, and Angela isn’t a risk-taker. That’s the most plausible explanation yet, especially when I think it’s pretty clear they don’t belong together.
Other stuff happens on the side as well: Jim and some warehouse guys sneak out for a drink where they run into Roy. Very brief words are exchanged and it’s just as awkward as you’d think. When Jim tells Roy that Pam goes out with her friends late at night, he points out, “You were a friend.” This prompts an insecure Jim to start heading to New York, but he turns around saying that they just weren’t the couple to do those things. When this show wants to emphasize distance in a relationship, they do it.
I like this episode, too, because it shows that Jim and Pam aren’t the only romantics. Bob Vance pays $1,000 just to hug his wife and that’s pretty awesome. What’s equally cool? Seeing Dwight overbid everyone by a penny to give Phyllis the thanks she deserves. Had he won, he would have been able to thank her for the advice under the guise of that hug, without having to expose himself. Still, Phyllis seems to get the idea (she looks pretty happy). Of course, he is still Dwight, and gets her away from the crowd by saying her tires had been slashed (and then actually slashing them). But maybe there’s a heart of gold hidden somewhere…
But then the tides turn. David Wallace spots Michael and Holly kissing and doesn’t look happy after the fiasco with Jan. You know that action will be taken, and taken it is in the very next episode. The two were perfect for each other, so I guess we should see it coming. Still, doesn’t that measure seem kinda drastic?
I give it an 8/10. Good premise, but I still don’t get the auction thing…why make the employees essentially pay for the damage? It’s still a good episode with great laughs.
