The only translated copy of Umineko’s stage adaptations starts running into rendering issues from episode 4 onward. Sometimes random frames will pop up and stay onscreen when there’s a ton of movement.

I made most of these last year (2023). Also still haven't finished episode 6, gotta go back to it at some point...

You can tell I love Maria, Ange and Lambda. I also find that Erika is an interesting character to scribble.

The last two doodles were my submissions for Umitober 2023. I did like, five days lol. The lambdabern one is also part of this challenge

Theres so much to say about this very real conversation they had I don't even know where to start.

i. really don't understand. what the difference between what beato does and what ange does is. witch ange can resurrect people. that's amazing. beato has been doing it since day 1

When the sister of the man you just so happened to like revives your apprentices destroyed stuffed lion and now you're forced back to the game.

And that's another counter for the Battler breakdowns, except well...

There's only one way this could've ended at this point. Between Beato thinking and knowing that she's gotta remain in the role of the enemy at this point and Battler having the dedication to finish her after Ange got killed off.

Also I SWEAR I started drawing that ‘sicko’ meme as soon as I saw that scene in the novel and before I started listening to ‘The Golden Truths’ podcast it’s just what the lovers’ duel made me think of

SO. What I'm getting from Ange's fight to believe in "white witches" against "black witches" that maybe I'm not supposed to be getting, is that in episode 3 Beatrice DID unlock more and different power by believing in love and protecting people and HAPPINESS. Like, the witch Eva is the symbol of the black witch (even as in Ange's eyes she's only taking that form because Ange still hasn't forgiven Eva...) and she was created in episode 3 from Eva's rage, pain, and desire to destroy everyone. And in that episode, Beatrice was able to keep going despite her power being taken from her... using the source of magic that is "love" as opposed to sadness and rage.

When Ange calls Beatrice "not a real witch" she's echoing a lot of what gets said in episode 3. But in that case, Beatrice faked being a "real" witch in ep3, as opposed to her true self here who is being called a fake. But maybe part of it was real in ep3, and it gave her a power that was able to fight against Eva Beatrice... theoretically?

And yet she still didn't have the love that would allow her to revive Sakutaro!! It was Ange's love that put this into motion, trying to protect Maria's love and happiness, to stop the burden from being placed on her shoulders!!! Because Ange understands Maria in a way that Beatrice doesn't, because Beatrice constructed the Golden Land to be with Maria and Maria alone, to create a universe where she doesn't have to face her inability to create the world she wanted through the game with Battler (because Battler doesn't remember his sin? Maybe? Time will tell)

In any case, Beatrice IS a witch, she DOES have magic, but she's unable to understand love so all she can do is use her rage and sadness to fuel what she's doing. At least that's how I interpret it at present.

Meanwhile, Ange can 'see' magic differently, because she's given so much love and empathy even to her enemies. She wants people to respect Maria's happiness, all the things her Onee-chan did to stay happy despite her circumstances and not push her pain onto other people... because witches like Eva Beatrice can't understand happiness of that sort :') But Ange's journey has been one of coming to understand this, and to understand what she has to do for both herself and for Battler...

I got to the scene where Ange lets herself die just to tell Battler she's his sister and that he needs to come home and I'm SO SADDDDD AAAAAA I ACTUALLY THOUGHT SHE'D STICK AROUND ON THE GAME BOARD FOR LONGER :( But it was a beautiful, painful scene... I'm technically not done with it but I'll finish it soon :(( Oh Ange... she may never be able to get Battler back, but she loves him. She STILL loves him.

this entire exchange also means so much to me, beato understands how ange feels more than anyone — having your life be defined by unimaginable tragedy, having others force ideas about your family and identity onto you. (there's a reason bern forces both ange and lion to watch her game at the end of episode 7, lion isnt beato but its about the utter hopelessness tied to their existence, something they have in common with ange.) beato wasnt able to define her own life in a non-self destructive way while she was still alive and she sees herself in ange so much and wants ange to realize what she only came to after it was too late, but she understands how much hope and love there was surrounding her throughout her whole life. (just knowing about lion brings her unimaginable joy.) it wouldnt have been easy to change her fate, but it was always possible, and she's so scared of ange falling for the same learned helplessness that she did. the bond that they share, however brief, is so vital. knowing firsthand how difficult it is but in direct contrast to how beato once was with maria, where she gave into hopelessness for maria and decided for maria that it was better to give up on living and planned to take her life, she acknowledges how wrong she was and she wants more than anything for ange to find hope within herself and keep going, and in the end ange is able to do exactly that and is able to keep going and create such a beautiful and meaningful world for other hurting traumatized kids through her own writing and stories, even without her brother coming home to save her
