good to know. what are your faves?

My favorites are anything made by Yves. So far, anything from Morningstar or Boca, except bacon, has been really good. Tofurky is okay, not the best. I'm not a big tofu or seitan fan, unless you're using extra soft silken tofu to make a creamy sauce or a smoothie. If you're going to stir-fry tofu, for me, it has to be the extra firm or it's like salty marshmallows.

The trick is to mix your meat substitutes with something. By itself, Yves meatless crumbles are like slightly flavored cardboard, but mix in some taco seasoning or throw it in some chili and you can't tell the difference. Same with fake cheese. It all looks like American, and has the same rubbery texture, but put it on a burger and it's excellent. Shredded cheese, same thing. I like Veggie Shreds and Slices the best. Fake pepperoni from Yves is actually edible by itself, better on a pizza.

Texturally and flavor-wise, the best fake hot dogs come from Yves. Morningstar hot dogs are too rubbery.

Best chik'n, patties, probably Boca, with Morningstar a close second. These are one of the few things you can eat by themselves and they taste like the real thing.

Best burgers, that's a tough one. Boca burgers are excellent, but the black bean-chipotle patties from Costco are awesome. There's one called American something, not very good.

I have tried several things from LightLife, and have been sorely disappointed every time. Their stuff just doesn't taste good, and you can't hide it. The have the best packaging, no doubt, but, yuck.

Believe me, I have spoken to the head of payroll every time (she’s a sweetheart let me tell you), and I have brought it to the attention of my head supervisor as well. No one cares as long as it’s not happening to them. They just say “oops” and say that it will be corrected.

Obviously I can guarantee that if this was happening to one of the higher ups, this wouldn’t be a reoccurring issue.
