Friends, enemies, comrades, Jacobins, Monarchist, Bonapartists, gather round. We have an important announcement:
The continent is beset with war. A tenacious general from Corsica has ignited conflict from Madrid to Moscow and made ancient dynasties tremble. Depending on your particular political leanings, this is either the triumph of a great man out of the chaos of The Terror, a betrayal of the values of the French Revolution, or the rule of the greatest upstart tyrant since Caesar.
But, our grand tournament is here to ask the most important question: Now that the flower of European nobility is arrayed on the battlefield in the sexiest uniforms that European history has yet produced (or indeed, may ever produce), who is the most fuckable?
The bracket is here: full bracket and just quadrant I
Want to nominate someone from the Western Hemisphere who was involved in the ever so sexy dismantling of the Spanish empire? (or the Portuguese or French American colonies as well) You can do it here

Favorite Takes - Marvel/Spider-Man
Where I cite my personal favorite non-source material (so film, TV, and video games only) adaptations of some comic book characters.
Tumblr media
Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Insomniac Games (Yuri Lowenthal)
Marvel VS Capcom (Josh Keaton)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Christopher Daniel Barnes)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Josh Keaton)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Robbie Daymond)
Sony/MCU (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland)
NOTE: And the Spider-Men voiced by Paul Soles, Dan Gilvezan, Ted Schwartz, Rino Romano, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Edgerly, James Arnold Taylor, Mike Vaughn, Mike Kelley, Sam Reigel, Sean Chiplock, Griffin Burns, Jake Johnson, and Hudson Thames are all contenders.
Tumblr media
Mary Jane Watson
Insomniac Games (Laura Bailey)
Sam Raimi Trilogy (Kirsten Dunst)
MCU (Zendaya Coleman)
MTV Spider-Man New Animated Series (Lisa Loeb)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Vanessa Marshall)
Marvel Rising (Tara Strong) and Marvel's Spider-Man (Felicia Day)
NOTE: Other fine MJs are Andrea Taylor in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game, Dana Seltzer in Web of Shadows, Laura Vandervoort in Edge Of Time, Quinn Ljoka in Marvel Avengers Academy, and Zoe Kravitz in Into The Spiderverse. Kari Wahlgren also did a decent Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-Man 3 video game, and Erika Harlacher Stone was spot on casting for her in Spider-Geddon, albeit wasted.
Tumblr media
Gwen Stacy
Marvel's Spider-Man (Laura Bailey)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Lacey Chabert)
Spiderverse Trilogy (Hailee Steinfeld)
Marvel Rising (Dove Cameron)
Mark Webb Duology (Emma Stone)
Sam Raimi Trilogy (Bryce Dallas Howard)
NOTE: Yeah, Laura Bailey is Best MJ AND Best Gwen! And the only other Gwens I think come close to contending with these ones would be the ones voiced by Mary Kay Bergman and Ashley Johnson.
Tumblr media
Harry Osborn
Sam Raimi Trilogy (James Franco)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (James Arnold Taylor)
MTV Spider-Man New Animated Series (Ian Ziering)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Max Mittelman)

Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Ed Asner)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Bob Joles)
Insomniac Games (Darin De Paul)
Edge Of Time (Fred Tatasciore)
NOTE: Paul Kligman, William Woodson, Richard Newman, Dee Bradley Baker, and Chris Edgerly also did some respectable Jonahs.
Tumblr media
Flash Thompson
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Josh LeBarr)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Patrick Labyorteaux)
MTV Spider-Man New Animated Series (Devon Edward Sawa)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Ben Diskin)

Miles Morales
Spiderverse Trilogy (Shamiek Moore)
Insomniac Games (Nadji Jeter)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Nadji Jeter)
Ultimate Spider-Man (Donald Glover, Ogie Banks)

NOTE: I'm not OK with the casting of that last one, though. Why???
Tumblr media
Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Alan Rachins, Steve Blum)
Sam Raimi Trilogy + MCU (Willem Dafoe)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Josh Keaton)
Spider-Man 90s Animated Series (Neil Ross)
Insomniac Games (Mark Rolston) and The Black Order (Steve Blum)
LEGO Marvel (Nolan North, Josh Keaton)
NOTE: Steven Weber in Ultimate Spider-Man was a decent Norman but an awful Goblin, while Len Carlson, Dennis Marks, and Sam Vincent all did good Green Goblins but weren't really Normans.
Tumblr media
Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus
Sam Raimi Trilogy + MCU (Alfred Molina)
Insomniac Games and The Black Order (William Salyers)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Peter Macnicol)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Scott Menville)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.)
Universal Studios Ride (Rodger Bumpass)
NOTE: Olivia Octavius isn't included here since this is just for Otto. Vernon Chapman, Cam Clarke, Joe Alaskey, Charlie Adler, Tom Kenny, Kyle Hebert, and Dee Bradley Baker were also good Ottos.
Tumblr media
Venom
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Hank Azaria)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Ben Diskin, Ben Pronsky)
Insomniac Games (Tony Todd)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Ben Diskin)
Spider-Man PS1 (Daran Norris) and Sony/MCU (Tom Hardy)
Web of Shadows (Keith Szarabajka) and Sam Raimi Trilogy
NOTE: Brian Drummond was also a top tier Venom voice. Shame the Venom/Eddie Brock he was voicing had to be such trash.
Tumblr media
Eddie Brock

Ultimate Spider-Man Game (Daniel Capallero)
Sony/MCU (Tom Hardy)
Sam Raimi Trilogy (Topher Grace)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Hank Azaria)

Marvel's Spider-Man (Alastair Duncan)
Insomniac Games (Dwight Schultz)
NOTE: Gillie Fenwick, Paul Soles, Don Messick, Christopher Tabori, Brian George and Steve Blum also deserve acknowledgement here.
Tumblr media
Mysterio

MCU (Jake Gyllenthal)
Shattered Dimensions (David Kaye)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Xander Berkley)
Spider-Man 90's Animated (Gregg Berger)
NOTE: Also mesmerizing as Mysterio were Daran Norris, Dee Bradley Baker, James Arnold Taylor, Robin Atkins Downes, Greg Baldwin, and Crispin Freeman.
Tumblr media
Hobgoblin
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Mark Hamill)
Marvel Superhero Adventures (Andrew Francis)
Universal Studios Ride (Patrick Fraley)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Courtney B. Vance)
Shattered Dimensions (Steve Blum)
NOTE: Marvel's Spider-Man barely counts for this, as it was just Harry and Norman respectively wearing a phony superhero identity.
Tumblr media
Scorpion
Sam Raimi Trilogy Video Games (Michael McColl, Dee Bradley Baker)
Insomniac Games (Jason Spisak)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Martin Landau, Richard Moll)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Jason Spisak)

Tumblr media
Michael Morbius

Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Roscoe Lee Brown)
The Punisher Video Game (David Sobolov)
Raimi Trilogy Video Game (Bob Joles)
Insomniac Games (Travis Willingham) and The Black Order (Tim Blaney)
NOTE: Tom Harvey, Stan Jones, Stephen Stanton, Gregg Berger, Jim Cummings and JB Blanc also gave commendable takes on Fisk that worked for the iterations they were playing. Sorry to say, Spiderverse fans, but Liev Schreiber's Kingpin does nothing for me.
Tumblr media
Doctor Doom
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Clive Revill)
90's Animated Marvel (Neil Ross, Simon Templeman, Tom Kane, Ross Marquand)
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (Lex Lang)
Marvel VS Capcom (Paul Dobson)
Disney Marvel Animation and The Black Order (Maurice LeMarche)
The Fantastic Four '94 film (Joseph Culp)
Spider-Man 80's Animated Series (Ralph James)

( Nathan Parsons • He/Him • Cis Male • 25 •) did you hear WHEN THE FIRES HAVE SURROUNDED YOU AND THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD'S COMIN' AFTER YOU, I'VE GOT BLOOD ON MY NAME? it reminded me of JACKSON KENNER. rumor has it they’re from the PAST. they say they’re a WEREWOLF, that explains why they’re loyal to THE CRESCENTS.
BASICS
Name: Jackson Kenner
Age: 25
Gender: Cis male
Date of Birth: June 16th, 1984
Place of Birth: New Orleans
Species: Werewolf
Sexuality: Bisexual
FAMILY
Mother: Kaia Kenner †
Father: Hudson Kenner †
Grandparents: Mary Dumas & Richard Dumas
Siblings: None
Kids: Currently, none. In the future, Hope Mikaelson (Step-daughter)
ABOUT
When Jackson was a baby, a rival pack sought out to end one of the two great families of the Crescent pack. His parents, Kaia and Hudson fought tooth and nail to protect the pack and their child.
In the end, the Crescents won the fight. However, the win didn't really feel like a win because of those they lost, including Jackson's parents.
With the loss, Jackson was raised by his grandparents.
From the time that Jackson could walk and talk, Richard has been "training" him to take up the Alpha title for when the time comes. Jackson didn't have a normal grandson/grandparent relationship with Richard. Richard refused to show an ounce of affection, believing that it wouldn't "toughen him up" for when he needed to fight.
Mary on the other hand, was the complete opposite. She adored Jackson (and the rest of the entire pack as her own grandchildren). She would tell him stories about his mom, and some of his dad too. She would tell the pack kids the history behind the crescent wolves, and what greatness they would be. When you needed someone to talk to, she was the person to go to.
Jackson's very best friends are Oliver and Aiden. He would go to the mat ten times over for them.
When Jackson was seven, Marcel sent out Brynne Deveraux (who was possessed by Céleste Dubois unknowingly) to put the curse on the pack. They were cursed into the wolf forms at all times except that of a full moon.
With the limited time they had, Jackson was mostly trained on how to be an alpha while in wolf form. Sometime over the years, Richard was killed and Jackson became the alpha of the pack.
After Richard's death, Jackson swore that he was going to be a better alpha than his grandfather was. And while they were still cursed to the wolf forms, Jackson made a promise that the Crescents were going to rise again. A promise he very much still plans to keep.
Jackson is openly bisexual and has no qualms about it. When Aiden had come out to him, he told him love was love - and that's something he truly believes in.
With the curse now broken, Jackson is now searching for a way for his pack to retain their wolf whenever they please and is also working to get the Crescents back to the greatness his grandmother once told them about. He's very pack driven, and while loyal and all around a good guy, revenge on Marcel is definitely on his mind.
He's betrothed to Hayley Marshall (Andrea Labonair) but doesn't know how he feels about that. Arrangements make him uneasy. He knows it's for the strength of the pack, but he doesn't like the idea of being told who he has to marry.

EXCLUSIVE: Clan Fraser continues to grow in numbers as Tony Curran (Defiance, Red Road) has joined the Starz prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood as Lord Lovat, Jamie Fraser’s grandfather, in a series regular role.
Production recently kicked off on the new series, a prequel of the Starz hit period drama Outlander, in Scotland. The original series stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser and Sam Heughan as her husband, Jamie Fraser. The franchise is inspired by the work of Diana Gabaldon, who serves as a consulting producer on both shows.
Blood of My Blood will explore the lives and relationships of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). The 10-episode series will center on the two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England.
Matthew B Roberts will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series. Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis, who developed Outlander for television, under their production banner Tall Ship Productions will also executive produce the series alongside Roberts and Story Mining & Supply Company. Outlander: Blood of My Blood is produced by Sony Pictures Television and will be available across all Starz platforms in the U.S. and Canada.
This is Curran’s second series for Starz currently on the slate. In addition to the Outlander prequel, he is set to star as King James I in Mary & George, opposite Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine portraying the titular mother and son who are scheming social climbers. The seven-part limited series, premiering on April 5, is inspired by the scandalous true story of a treacherous Mary and George Villiers who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the Court of England and the bed of King James I.
Curran trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama who rose to fame in the TV series, This Life. He has worked extensively across TV, film and theatre both in the UK and US.
Recently he starred alongside Martin Compston and Ashley Jenson in the onscreen adaptation of Andrew O’Hagan’s acclaimed novel Mayflies* for which he was nominated for Best TV Actor at the Scottish BAFTA Awards and won Best Male Actor at the Scottish Television Awards.
Earlier in 2023 Curran also appeared in the second season of Your Honor with Bryan Cranston alongside the 10-part investigative drama series The Calling written by David E Kelly and directed by Barry Levinson.
Additional credits include Outlaw King alongside Chris Pine, Florence Pugh and Aaron Taylor Johnson, the Showtime drama series Ray Donovan and the film version of the Emmy award-winning drama Deadwood, among many others.
He is repped by Innovative Artists and Link Entertainment in the U.S. and Scott Marshall Partners in the U.K. as well as Brecheen, Feldman, Breimer, Silver and Thompson.

Mayflies is an affecting story of a friendship tested by end-of-life issues, with some fantastic performances from Compston, Curran and Jensen.

Fremantle has completed its big-money acquisition of Death in Paradise producer Asacha Media Group. The super-indie notified this morning that the deal, which was revealed several weeks ago, has gone through, and will see the Poor Things maker acquire the group from Asacha’s founding partners, managers and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management. Fremantle hasn’t revealed how much Asacha cost but has said it has spent more than €200M ($216M) on both Asacha and 80% of Singapore’s Beach House Pictures since the start of this year. Fremantle takes hold of an eight-label group including Death in Paradise producer Red Planet, Arrow Media and Italy’s Stand By Me. Headquartered in Paris, France, Asacha will continue to be run by Co-Founder and Group CEO Gaspard de Chavagnac who will report to Fremantle’s Andrea Scrosati. De Chavagnac will continue to be supported by Marina Williams as Chief Content Officer of Asacha. Labels will report to de Chavagnac. “We are pleased to welcome Asacha and its incredible labels, producers and creative talent, under Gaspard de Chavagnac to the Fremantle family,” said Scrosati. For Fremantle, the completed move will be a big boost in its bid to reach its much-discussed €3B revenue target, which Deadline revealed last week has been pushed back by up to a year.
London TV Screenings Unveils Next Year’s Dates
The London TV Screenings has announced dates for next year and said there was a 50% uplift in buyers this year. The growing event, which brought together 29 studios and distributors in 2024, will take place February 24 to 28 in 2025. Organized by ITV Studios, All3Media International, Banijay and Fremantle, the screenings have become an integral part of the TV market calendar. The fourth annual event enjoyed an uplift of 50% more buyers in attendance, organizers said, some 750+ in total, as well as attracting 29 participating distributors/studios, a slight increase on the 2023 edition. It comprised a full schedule of free-to-attend events and numerous evening socials.
‘Death In Paradise’ Lead Exits
Death in Paradise lead Ralph Little is exiting the show after four years. Little, who played Neville Parker, is the longest-serving Detective Inspector in the long-running BBC series, coming after Ben Miller, Kris Marshall and Ardal O’Hanlon. New lead casting is coming in due course. Licensed to more than 230 territories across the globe, Death in Paradise has been airing for 13 seasons and more than 100 episodes. It follows the Saint Marie police team solving crimes in the Caribbean Island. “Joining a successful show like Death in Paradise as the lead is a daunting and risky prospect, but Ralf’s confidence and talent shone through from day one and the audience response to Neville and his journey has been amazing,” said exec for Red Planet Pictures Tim Key.
