Satyra, zjadliwy komentarz na otaczającą nas rzeczywistość? Na pewno. Ale "Czarne myśli" to coś więcej. To mała genialna forma, rodzaj autoterapii dla autora, który operując tylko czernią rysuje swoje historie jak w obrazie negatywowym. Tematycznie "Czarne myśli" są wyrazem, między innymi, lęków artysty.

Innymi słowy André Franquin przelał swoje czarne myśli na papier. To jednostronicowe strzały, pociski z wygrawerowanym słowem "humor". Takiego pocisku nie zatrzymasz. Trafia zawsze w cel, boli, ale również śmieszy.

To nie jest tak, że każdy rysunkowy dowcip Franquina mnie rozbawił. To nigdy nie działa w ten sposób, że wszystko musi się spodobać. Wielu stron nie zapamiętam. Jednak są tutaj też opowiastki najczarniejsze z czarnych. Dam jeden przykład. Mężczyzna i kobieta przetrwali zagładę atomową. Cudem. Naprawdę, jak Franquin rysuje coś ostatecznego, to nie bierze jeńców. Jak jest wybuch to eksplozja wyrywa kadry, a śmierć jest taka, że można poczuć dreszcze gdy przyjrzysz się dokładnie rysunkowi. Także para przeżyła zagładę, cywilizacyjnie cofnęli się do epoki kamienia łupanego. Rozpalają swój pierwszy ogień, używają do tego artefaktów z przeszłości. Sięgnęli po dwa granaty ręczne. Stukają więc jednym o drugi w nadziei, że zobaczą upragnioną iskrę. Zobaczyli.

Rozumiecie? Taki jest właśnie Franquin. Bezlitosny. Jak w tej historyjce, w której facet po 20 latach pracy z młotem pneumatycznym znajduje ukojenie w spacerach z dzieckiem. Ukojenie ukojeniem, ale faceta niezmiennie targają drgawki po tych 20 latach pracy z młotem. Jest ornitologiem amatorem, naprawdę zna się na ptakach. Chodzą, mężczyzna opisuje gatunki (ciągle z drgawkami), czerpie z tego radość. Aż do momentu spotkania dzięcioła. Nie napiszę co się stało. Styl Franquina jest niepokorny. Rzeczywiście operuje tylko czernią i jest to niebywałe ile szczegółu udaje mu się wyciągać z postaci, krajobrazu, ruchu. Tu wszystko żyje. Autoironicznie wypadają te momenty, gdy w jednej opowieści klaun przy nocnym pejzażu (nieliczny przypadek, gdy postać jest narysowana klasycznie) przechyla się aż nadto i wpada do czarnej wodnej toni. Wychodzi z niej i jest już tym charakterystycznym Franquinowskim bohaterem, całym w czarnych myślach. Piękne.

Po lekturze "Czarnych myśli" wiedziałem już, że znalazłem swój komiks, do którego mogę wracać w różnych chwilach. Mogę z niego czerpać, cytować, wspominać, dzielić się w różnych miejscach całymi opowiastkami, pojedynczymi kadrami. Jest z czego podbierać.

Me: I don't like the name "Gomer Goof", "Gaston Lagaffe" was better My aunt: starts calling him Gomer Gaffe instead Me: That wasn't… exactly the part of the name I object to most but I appreciate it the sentiment every time I complain about the name my dad goes on about how "Gomer is a classic american name" and how "Gomer Pyle is a really recognizable name" and I'm just like "I have literally no idea who that is but Gaston I recognize from Beauty and the Beast soooo" All that said and done, Gomer Goof is at least a better name for Gaston than "Dickie" and "Birdbath" is for Spirou and Fantasio.
