If you’re still doing requests, how about how Rapi, Anis, and red hood would react with a new commander s/o who’s normally shy, but as they’re getting an assignment from Syuen and she mocks them (as she does) and they respond by getting between Syuen and the given Nikke and saying “mock me all you want, but talk about her like that again and I’ll kill you, consequences be damned.”

How the Counters and Red Hood would protect from Syuen abuse

Characters: Rapi, Anis, Neon (I had to include her), and Red Hood

A/n: swearing, gn!commander, headcanons

You had been a commander for the Ark for some time now. However, you weren’t the same as other commanders, you were a bit shy, timid even.

Syuen came barging in to the Outpost Command Center, spouting her normal abusive nonsense.

Rapi:

Would make an underhanded comment (this is canon) while remaining completely calm about it.

She wants to get angry, but Rapi has a really level head and wouldn’t want to cause additional problems for her commander.

After Syuen leaves, probably suggests reporting it to Andersen (or even Ingrid since we all know Ingrid would happy kick the shit out of Syuen)

Would comfort you after if the situation ended up really affecting you.

Anis:

Easily the first to throw hands. Anis is a spitfire against that little brat.

Would start swearing up a storm and threatening to kick her ass, only forgetting that her NIMPH prevents her from hurting humans.

She might actually feel more downcast about it after, feeling as if she couldn’t 100% protect you to the best of her ability. (Please comfort her)

Would try to brush it off and lighten the mood again a few minutes later.

Neon:

One word. Firepower!

I feel like she would actually threaten Syuen. She might not be able to harm a human… but a little firepower still could.

Gets really annoyed and defensive.

Would conduct her Elysion spy duties and report to Ingrid that Syuen is causing trouble.

Headline the next day: “Issues between Elysion and Missilis? Missilis’ CEO charged for harassment?!”

Red Hood:

Very cocky that she can take Syuen in a fight.

If Syuen says anything about you being unable to defend yourself, all hell breaks loose.

Places you behind her, until Syuen disappears.

After Syuen leaves, she’ll also comfort you.

And probably gives really nice cuddles.

Goddess of Victory: Nikke - Story Recap

Chapter 1: Corruption - Part 2

As Commander, Rapi, and Anis step aboard the elevator that will return them to the Ark, Anis asks Shifty what...happened to Marian. Shifty says that whatever code caused Marian's corruption must have been meant to guide her and other Nikkes to the Blacksmith's location, essentially using her as bait. Anis objects, saying that before they arrived, Marian was acting fine, it doesn't match up to what she knows about how corruption works. Shifty offers that perhaps seeing the Commander in danger caused her programming as a Nikke to temporarily override the corruption, but proximity to the Blacksmith cause the corruption to once again take hold.

The elevator continues its descent deep, deep underground. Rapi asks when Marian's corruption first took hold. As to that, Shifty has no idea. She would guess some time during the operation, but Rapi is quick to remind her that it was Marian that sabotaged the transport, which means she had to have been corrupted before the operation even began. And the transport came directly from the Ark.

Shifty startles, and double checks to see if the Ark's defensive barriers were broken at some point, but Rapi tells her that kind of breach would've been detected long before anything happened to Marian. Anis asks Rapi what exactly she's trying to say just as the elevator drops into the main cavern, giving the trio a bird's eye view of humanity's last stronghold, the Ark.

Meanwhile, at that very moment, Shifty is reporting to her superior officer. The gruff man in dress uniform expresses shock that the Commander, Rapi, and Anis destroyed the Blacksmith. When Shifty reiterates that yes, a rookie Commander and three Nikkes completed the search operation and destroyed a Tyrant in a single day with only one casualty, the officer remarks that if he didn't know better, he'd think Shifty was telling him a bad joke. Shifty offers to forward him the combat data from the mission but he declines, instead ordering the Commander, Anis, and Rapi be brought to his office for a meeting...and make sure they arrive armed.

As the trio step off the elevator, Commander relays the urgent summons they've received to Anis and Rapi, as well as the fact that the two of them are expected to accompany them. Anis grumbles that she's not looking forward to tired old routine of being commended for exceptional performance and a job well done by some stiff in uniform, and Rapi reasons that some acknowledgement is better than none. Both of them are taken off guard when the Commander adds on that they're requested to arrive armed.

Upon arriving in the lavish office, the man welcomes Commander, Anis, and Rapi, then introduces himself as Deputy Chief Andersen of the Central Government Military Command, and tells them to dispense with formalities, no need to address him by rank or title. The Commander still addresses him formally, and Andersen immediately tells them to quit it, just addressing him by name will be fine.

Andersen explains that he brought the three of them in because he wishes to conduct a test. They are to proceed directly to the Simulation Room, where someone else will give them the details. Anis is a flabbergasted that he would call them to his office just to say that little, and Andersen said he just wanted to meet them all in person. Andersen dismisses the group, but Commander speaks up and asks if Andersen can answer a question for them. Andersen checks his watch and says he can make time for one question.

The Commander tells Andersen that Marian was corrupted while she was inside the Ark, and they want to know if he knows how that could have happened. Anis and Rapi immediately react, telling the Commander that throwing such a loaded question at a Deputy Chief is extremely inappropriate. Andersen, however, doesn't seem to react. He's never heard of anyone by the name of Marian, before recalling that was the Nikke the Commander lost in their recent mission. Andersen apologizes and says he has nothing for them, but there is an ongoing investigation into the matter. All he can say is that the Ark's Aegis Barriers are impenetrable.

Commander moves to leave, but before they go, Andersen offers them one last word of advice. If, hypothetically, one of the Commander's Nikkes WAS maliciously corrupted while still in the Ark, then the perpetrator would be someone so powerful and influential that the Commander would have no chance of opposing them. He asks what they would do, in that theoretical situation. The Commander can say that they'd make the culprit pay...or ask why they'd do something so cruel.

If the Commander says they'd make the guilty party pay, Andersen laughs. He asks what they, a single lowly Commander, could do to make someone like that pay for their crimes, and he'd very much like to see it.

If the Commander says they'd ask the perpetrator why, Andersen remarks that the Commander must be looking for a reason, and wonders if they were given a "good" reason for it, would the Commander would accept what happened? Not that he would hold it against them, he's just curious how they'd react.

In either case, Andersen says he can't spare any more time, and dismisses the Commander, Rapi, and Anis, saying he has no doubt they'll meet again.

The trio walk to the Simulation Room, where they are greeted by a woman named Ingrid, who introduces herself as their coach for the day as they put their skills to the test in her custom made combat simulation.

Anis whispers to the Commander, asking what the hell is going on, and Rapi speaks out loud that she's never heard of having combat skills tested AFTER a mission. Anis adds on that Ingrid is the CEO of Elysion, one of the three Nikke manufacturers that owns a sizable portion of the Ark's infrastructure. What could a woman with that kind of pull possibly want with the three of them? Rapi says that this kind of thing...is her hobby.

Ingrid snaps at them not to chitchat while she's giving a briefing. She explains that the Simulation Room will allow them to experience combat as accurate and real as the surface, and will be just as unforgiving. She urges the Commander to demonstrate their mastery of tactics and complete the test she has laid out.

Rapi tries to ask a question, but Ingrid shuts her down, then asks the three of them what their squad name is. Put on the spot, the Commander blurts out that the squad is called "Counters". Ingrid registers the squad name, then says she looks forward to their performance.

The Simulation Room puts the newly christened Counters through a brutal gauntlet of back to back combat scenarios, facing off against digital recreations of Raptures that are accurate down to the most minute detail.

After slogging their way through, the squad is told to wait in the lobby for Ingrid. Anis asks Rapi what she thinks all this is about, and Rapi just shrugs and says it's a test. She expects that their performance in the last mission aroused suspicion, and Ingrid's test was a way to verify if it was a fluke. Anis complains that if they underperform they get chewed out, and if they overperform, they face scrutiny; there's just no winning. She turns and asks the Commander if they know anything about why they're being tested, but they're in the dark too. Rapi comments that at the very least, they're all doing their part for the cause.

Back in Andersen's office, Ingrid presents Counters' results to the Deputy Chief. They did abysmally. She cannot understand how they even survived their mission, when their simulator performance would've had them all dead within minutes. Ingrid wonders if perhaps they're one of those cases of only being able to get results if it's the real thing. Andersen says there's only one way to find out: Throw them into the fire and see if they can get out again.

Andersen's orders are delivered to Counters. They are investigate a derelict power station located in the ruins of a coastal city. Rapi is taken aback that they're not being given any reinforcements, and Anis grumbles about how unfair it is for them to be sent back out so soon after going through the wringer already. Commander shrugs and says that orders are orders, and Anis snaps at them that they must be so eager to make Andersen happy like a good dog. Rapi reprimands her and Anis apologizes for letting her temper get the better of her. She asks the Commander who their CO will be for the mission, and they respond that...they will.

Rapi reacts with shock, and Anis asks what the higher ups are planning with this. The Commander doesn't understand what they're so taken back by, and Rapi explains that Nikke squads are never assigned to the same commander consecutively. In order to prevent commanders and Nikkes from getting attached or fomenting interpersonal conflict that results in the commander destroying their Nikkes, or worse, Nikkes going berserk and killing their commander, any given commander can only be paired with a particular Nikke squad once every three missions. All that to say, the Commander being assigned to lead Rapi and Anis again is abnormal in the extreme. Anis comments that Andersen must being trying to get rid of them, sending them off on a suicide mission to die where no one will notice.

Shifty interjects to ask what anyone would gain by doing that, scaring the daylights out of Anis. When asked what she's doing, Shifty says that she heard there was a new mission for Counters, and she volunteered to be their Operator. Shifty reassures the three of them that if the Central Government wanted them dead, they'd be dead already instead of bothering with sending them to the surface, so they can rest easy knowing this is a completely normal operation.

Anis complains that this is anything but normal, and Rapi echoes the Commander, saying orders are orders, though she asks if the Commander is alright with heading out again so soon and accompanying the same Nikkes. The Commander can tell Rapi and Anis that they believe in them, or reassure them that they're not going to shoot them like some other commanders would.

If the Commander says they won't shoot Rapi and Anis, Rapi returns the sentiment, and Anis jokes that the arrangement is temporary.

If the Commander says they believe in them, Anis sarcastically asks where the unfounded confidence is coming from.

Rapi directs the group back to the elevator, and Counters embarks on their second mission together...at least, they're about to, when someone interrupts. A bespectacled Nikke in white approaches, introducing herself as Neon.

Rapi recognizes Neon as a fellow Elysion Nikke. Neon says that she has been assigned to participate in Counters' mission and looks forward to working with everyone. Rapi asks Shifty if there was any official word about this, and Shifty responds that she got a notification of personnel transfer as Rapi was asking her question. Rapi asks the Commander the same question, and they reply that they didn't hear a damn thing.

Anis remarks that something about this is definitely fishy, and asks Neon what kind of Nikke she is. Neon hesitates, and thinks on it for a moment, then proudly answers that she...is a spy!!

Anis is dumbfounded as Neon goes on to explain that she was instructed by Ingrid to do everything she could to help out, then report everything back to her personally. Which is what a spy does, right? Anis answers that yes, that sounds like a spy alright, and Neon happily remarks that she always wanted to be a spy, and she'll do her very best to spy on them. Commander dryly says they'll do their best too.

Anis asks if having a self-professed spy on the team reporting everything back to Ingrid will be a problem down the line, but no one can bring themselves to answer.
