God, the emotion and action and lighting in this is AWESOME. I Love the aggression in Grian's face while Pops jumps back (Pops retreating but not attacking.... the expression on his face....), and Scar having to cope with the reality of what loving and supporting Grian is going to look like from now on. This is so great, I really love how perfectly it's showing the conflict here, and I just loooooove the way you draw!

After revisiting your "came back wrong" comic, absolutely wonderful btw, I came to a rather haunting realization.

Because it became true. But instead of Bloodmoon, it's Eclipse. And that's both much worse(for the characters), and much better(for the narrative).

Because both him and Lunar went through the same, and in a way seem to parallel each other, though that's probably me overthinking.

Both of them died. Both of them were blown to smithereens. Both of them came back after several months. Both found themselves in a body not their own. We've seen what they look like in every other universe.

Both of them came back wrong.

Lunar came back numb, quieter than before, with all their energy being a play. He came back running from unknown danger. They died a normal animatronic, and came back being more.

Eclipse is the opposite. He came back louder, erratic, full of madness. Where Lunar is running from unknown danger, he is sprinting towards it, not realizing the consequences until it's to late. Not to forget the star. Eclipse died being somewhat of a god, and came back as nothing more than a plaything, a puppet on a string.

In a twist of fate, they can relate best to each other now, and that might be the worst part for both of them.

Because what is there to do? Even though they understand, even though, one day, they might glance at each other and wonder "Do you feel the same?", they will never be able to confide in each other. Their relationship is beyond repair, and for good reason. Eclipse hurt Lunar, used and ab*sed him, and then blew him up.

This also opens up so much emotional baggage. What will Lunar think? Will he wonder "Do you regret what you did now, knowing how it felt?" Will a part of him feel the smallest bit of satisfaction? Will they ever be able to look at him at all, or will they forever hide away?

What about Eclipse? Will he feel guilty? He seems aware of the damage he has caused the celestial twins, even telling Ruin that he deserves what's coming for him, but he still showed no remorse when he talked to them.

I'm sorry this got so long, I am incredibly emotional about this right now, and I can't even begin to describe, how this makes me feel-

realizing that the lilac betting convo was them having three different conversations at once.

yoon jiwon who's been unsettled the whole week bc of seok jiwon's reappearance was now just totally and utterly humiliated bc seok jiwon witnessed her rejection and breakdown (actually going to talk about that in a separate post). if it isn't entirely obv btw the reason she was crying is actually seok jiwon.

(her whole line is 'i'm crying because these days...')

and then,

'To laugh at me?' obv seok jiwon hasn't even thought of that and probably can't add 2 and 2 together. but to yoon jiwon who was an over achiever in high school, always better than seok jiwon the only person she cared about being better than, and is then dumped wordlessly and cruelly by him, her current living situation compared to his are. embarrassing. she normally doesn't care being not that well off financially but again, this is seok jiwon. everything matters when it comes to him.

anyway, her saying 'he's ruining everything her grandfather worked for' is the only valid excuse she has to shit on this man now. there's so many things she wants to complain about, to scream at him about, but he just abandoned her, left without a word, never picked up a single one of her hundred calls and admitting she's anxious bc he came back would only further add to her humiliation.

insisting the lilacs won't bloom again is like saying, 'anything u touch will be doomed'.

seok jiwon on the other hand, is talking about their romance.

unlike yoon jiwon who's had zero contact w this guy for years and thus believes it'd be both mortifying and insane to still harbor feelings for the dude, hence her vehement denial in the consecutive eps, seok jiwon's seen her at her most miserable and vulnerable. it's why he's never been able to move on no matter how painful this is for him, why he's never been able to love any one else even thou yoon jiwon no longer wants him. in fact, him refusing to come back was precisely bc he knew his presence would only upset her, esp involved in a project that is already destroying her grandfather.

it's only when he's told she possibly forgot about him, that he abandons all reason and runs back. and to his relief—initially—she has not forgotten about him at all. no, rather he's come back to hear her say all of this instead.

(he never said he hated her.)

the lilac is barren, the lilac hasn't bloomed in years, the lilac is probably dead—there are no feelings between us, it's been way too many years, after everything that happened there's no way we'd ever fall in love again. that's what he's hearing.

this is also the girl who dumped him over a tiny little fight and refused to ever see him again no matter how many times he tried to reach out to her. this is also the girl he's still in love w. and he just heard her admit to liking someone else and then spit at the idea of them being together.

his words: 'it's not withered or dead', he still has feelings for her and since she feels so strongly about him, he's dying to know if there truly isn't any love in her opinion; 'this is the 5th year not the 40th', even if it's been almost two decades, it wasn't enough for him to forget about her, after what she did to him, was it that easy for her to move on or did she ever think about him, did she ever regret.

insisting the lilacs will bloom, is him trying to convince himself she still loves or still can love him.

and so the bet conditions:

she wants him gone from her life so she can stop feeling so pathetic and embarrassed about herself and her situation and her somehow persisting feelings for him. she loved him for so, so many years, that even if she's in denial now and thinks she isn't in love with him, seok jiwon's long become a part of her self. and she's convinced the only way she can evict him from her heart, is to evict him from her town first.

he wants to know, once and for all, if yoon jiwon truly truly hates him and will never hold an ounce of emotion towards him again. he needs to see for himself if yoon jiwon doesn't regret their breakup at all, if she's never thought of him in all those 18 years, if she really doesn't love him for all. it's the only way he'll be able to move on.

tldr; the lilacs convo was yoon jiwon's metaphoric way of saying seok jiwon ruins everything (she talks about her grandfather but means her heart) and seok jiwon's way of saying a love as deep as there's was can't die no matter how many years have passed and will bloom again, and the rest of the room only now realizing how fucking insane these both are.

p.s. maeng sua spends a lot of time joking about how jiwon must be confusing her feelings of affection for him as hatred and how hate and love are two sides of the same coin and blah blah blah, but it's only now that she realizes her jokes were on point and she looks scandalized.

she's seen yoon jiwon screaming and kicking at the man but this is what made her jaw drop.

and this is where she realizes that yoon jiwon becoming animated and childish and talkative and lively over the past week was bc she'd finally met someone who matched her freak.

she's the only one excited about the bet lol. funnily, she also stops joking about seok jiwon being her type after this and once she snuffs out gong minsu's feelings for yoon jiwon, she turns her flirty jokes on him instead.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I absolutely love the recs you've given (you've introduced me to tomione, and I love it!) and I was wondering if it's possible to give you some recs in return? There are some books and fics that definitely have dramione / got vibes, and I was wondering if I could share them with you!

So glad you've enjoyed them! Feel free to rec me anything you want. I've read most of the classic recs in terms of fic and adjacent content (Cruel Prince et al), but I'll try anything that's well-written. My tastes run towards weird and/or audaciously creative stuff, and I can forgive a lot of weaknesses in plot on the grounds of (1) ambition or (2) character work. My turnoffs are instalove, protagonists who can't fail, and most Y/A (I'm not a hater, I swear, I just need characters who can say "fuck" when their leg gets chopped off.)

I'm also a fan of weird and fucked-up dynamics.(Wuthering Heights was my favorite book for a while, and as a teenager I wrote an AU in which the book ends on a long sex scene where Heathcliff fucks Cathy's ghost and then immediately gets murdered by Catherine 2.) Obviously, I am very normal.

how do you think aromanticism can be expressed visually? im not talking flags or anything else as an ID, i mean the experience through art // an aro asking an aro

like.. can you think of the symbol or trope or metaphor of how aromanticism can be expressed? im an artist who has the opposite of artblock rn so i think of such questions a lot sometimes :D i can think of anatomically gorey correct heart or the lack of attraction/"pull" like an anchor

before i say anything else i would like to say the idea of aromanticism as an anatomically correct heart is so fucking sick and i love this.

to me the first thing i thought of was... aromanticism as seeing the world through a slightly different color palette? almost like looking at things from behind a pane of vaguely tinted glass. you can see things happening, but they don't appeal to you the same way they do to everyone else. you can imitate it but it sort of feels like you're miming.

other images that came to mind (depressing)...

the center of mass in a binary system. the two stars are doomed to orbit closer and closer until they collide and go supernova, and despite being in the middle you are sort of just there, invisibly.

a black hole.

a knife.

a train where each passenger keeps getting off until you are the only one left sitting.

Caveat that I'm not Catholic and know nothing about saints, but I have heard some people who grew up in it say that when they were kids they got really into the saints, and would I guess assign? ones to their family members, specific saints that they would pray to for a specific person.

Do you think Sam would do this for John and Dean, maybe Bobby as well, and who do you think would be for each?

oh my god i love this so so much!! i would just like to preface this with the fact that i am no longer a practicing catholic, so i am just going off of practices that i remember from when i was younger :) if i get something wrong please let me know!! i'm going to fit in a keep reading bar here because this turned out to be very long & i don't want to make someone who isn't interested in saints scroll too much <3

essentially, people tend to pray to the saint that is the patron of the thing they are struggling with. for example, when my mom can't find her car keys, she usually says a prayer to st. anthony in the hopes that he'll help her find them. while i have never necessarily "assigned" a person a saint, if someone i knew was going through something that was related to a particular saint, i would pray to that saint, if that makes sense. so i really love the idea of sam doing that for the people that he loves & it just ending up being pretty much the same saint every time to the point where it is like he has assigned them that saint (and him also finding comfort in that consistency.)

i'll do john first because i think he's relatively the easiest in this case. there are two¹ options that really stand out to me - st. joseph the worker and st. george, who are both considered saints of protection². st. joseph is known for being the protector of family (and, more obviously, the patron saint of fathers) and i do love the idea of, despite his complicated relationship with john, him praying to the patron saint of both of those. st. george is also a good option - he's the patron saint of soldiers and is prayed to for the defeat of good over evil (or smth to that extent), which i think could be extra applicable if john is out on a hunt and sam is particularly worried.

dean is much harder because there's SO much going on there between them that i don't think just one saint can capture. i think the ones that really stood out for me were st. george and st. christopher. st. george for the same reasons as john - protection during a hunt & the viewing of dean's role especially as a solider. i think i like the idea of praying to st. christopher just a little bit more though. he's the patron saint of traveling (especially for people who travel by car) and i think sam would use that as a way to tie in the impala and how they kind of view it as their home. the car/traveling is so intristic to the way that they live that i think he could kind of just view st. christopher as an overall protecter of their family in the way that st. joseph can be. so a combination of george & christopher i think.

bobby³ is also kind of hard and maybe this is too obvious/not exciting enough but i do like the idea of sam praying to gabriel for him. he's the angel of messengers and i think bobby kind of fits into that role of guidance for them. (this would probably only be early-seasons/before gabriel's identity is revealed though.)

also i would just like to add that, even though she is not a saint, i do think that sam would consistently pray to mary (winchester) and would view her in a similar way to the way one might view a saint. to him, she is essentially like the patron saint of their family and he would pray to her in that way.

little elaborations to earlier notations -

¹ i didn't include st. michael for john because he's typically more associated with defeating the devil specifically vs. st. george who's more focused on the concept of warriors & defeating evil in general :)

² i also didn't include any patron saints of hunting, only because it makes more sense to me for sam to be praying for protection during the achievement, rather than just overall accomplishment. also in spn, it seems like hunters consider themselves to be more like soldiers/warriors than the traditional animal hunter so i don't know if sam would really find them applicable anyways.

³ i don't know for sure if sam would pray for bobby prior to s1/when they become close again, but i definitely think bobby reaches that level of closeness during canon, if not before.
