In season 2 episode 5, Carmen says "the idea of even having a headquarters may be a little too 'VILE island' for me".
I feel we're now touching the heart of the matter of HQ for Carmen. Not that Carmen wanting to see the world or not knowing where to rest wasn't true, but this may be the bigger and more subconscious reason why she hadn't tried to find an HQ.
This line shows just how deeply she was affected by VILE and her upbringing. Apart from not knowing who she is without VILE and being unable to imagine herself not trying to stop them... just having a place to rest and put her things, somewhere to call home, somewhere to organize future capers- all that makes her think too much of VILE island.
She's trying to distance herself from VILE so much that anything that looks slightly like them is to be avoided. Do you think that, because they raised her and she believed in their teachings for years, Carmen is afraid of becoming like them without even noticing it?

Yandere Lusamine x male s/o

It’s fairly well known amongst employees of the Aether Foundation that the once bubbly and kind personality of their president took a sharp turn for the worst when Lusamine’s husband disappeared several years ago, even to the point of driving her own two children away, which only helped to damage her psyche even more.
Whether it be to find something/someone new to bestow her affections onto, or perhaps to cure a well hidden loneliness, Lusamine eventually began obsessing over something other than Ultra Wormholes and pokémon, that being a man named s/o.
S/o is a nice looking man in his early thirties who used to work for Silph Co. in the Kanto region during his younger years before joining the Aether Foundation due to his love of caring for pokémon.
“Hello Miss Lusamine! My name is s/o, and it’s an honor to be working for you.”
This was what s/o said upon meeting his new boss for the first time after being hired to be her assistant, thus kicking off Lusamine’s obsession.
“Yes! He’s the one! I can tell already that this man is worthy of the love so many seem to throw away! I will make him mine soon enough.”
Aether’s president thinks to herself before turning to s/o and smiling sweetly at him.
“Such good manners. I like that. I look forward to having you by my side s/o.”
She tells him in a tone that both flusters him and unnerves him slightly.
“T-thank you ma’am. I’ll do my best to live up to your expectations.”
“Glad to hear it. Now come along s/o, there’s already work that needs to be done.”
“Yes ma’am!”
Following Lusamine to her office, s/o begins his first day working at the Aether Foundation.
Working for Lusamine was rather strange to s/o.
Despite being his boss, she seemed to be doting and almost…loving to him.
Yet s/o didn’t think much of it, and in fact actually enjoyed it due to developing a crush on Lusamine.
The more time they spent together, the more Lusamine’s unhealthy attraction to s/o grew.
“I can’t hold back anymore! The longer I wait, the more I risk some other woman sinking her claws into my darling s/o! He is the only person deserving of my love, and I will not lose him!”
She tells herself before deciding to confess to s/o first thing in the morning.
“Before we go over our itinerary for the day. There’s something you need to know s/o.”
“W-what is it ma’am?”
He asks in a shaky voice, fearing he’s about to be fired.
“I’ll get straight to the point. I want you to be mine.”
She says with a blank expression, which changes to a small smile once seeing her darling’s flustered expression.
“C-can you repeat that please? I might have misheard you.”
“You heard me just fine s/o. Ever since you’ve started working for me, I’ve become romantically attracted to you. I repeat, will you be mine?”
Not wanting to pass the chance to be with his crush, s/o nods and smiles.
“I’d like that. Honestly, I kinda fell in love with you not long after I became your assistant.
Hearing this brings a great big smile to Lusamine’s face as her heart beats faster, incredibly happy that her darling loves her back.
“Oh s/o! Come here so that I may shower you with my love!”
She pulls him into a bone-crushing embrace and kisses him passionately.
“I’m yours now my love, just as you are mine, and I will never let you go.”
Lusamine whispers into s/o’s ear, thus officially making them a couple.
Unknowingly dating a yandere can be problematic at times because Lusamine very much tries to isolate s/o from his friends, family, and coworkers.
If s/o ever questions her behavior, his girlfriend manipulates him into believing whatever lie she comes up with.
“I’ve heard them say awful things behind your back my love, so it’s best that you cut them out of your life and focus on me. You know I would never treat you badly, unlike those wretched people.”
Due to being incredibly trusting, s/o believes everything Lusamine tells him, much to her glee.
Lusamine gets jealous very easily, and if she sees another woman talking or Arceus forbid flirting with s/o, bad things are about to happen.
While not a murderous kind of yandere, Lusamine has the money and connections to ruin the lives of anyone she deems a threat to her relationship with s/o.
A woman flirted with s/o?
Well, she will soon gets a call from work telling her that she��s fired, and unfortunately for her, no other reputable business or company will be hiring her thanks to Lusamine.
“Hmph! That’s what the harlot gets for messing with what’s mine.”
Lusamine thinks to herself while smiles like a lunatic after receiving the news.
One benefit from being in a relationship with the president of the Aether Foundation is that s/o is constantly showered with gifts, whether it be clothes, jewelry, trinkets, or anything else.
Nothing is too grand or expensive for Lusamine’s darling s/o.
“Honey, I appreciate everything you do for me, but you didn’t have to get me this.”
“Nonsense, you deserve it for being such a loyal and loving boyfriend.”
“But a weeklong stay at a villa in Undella Town? That’s all the way in Unova!”
“Yes, considering it a reward for all your hard work as my assistant. It’s about time you and I take a vacation together don’t you agree?”
Lusamine is also incredibly affectionate with s/o, even in front of her employees.
“Have you seen the way the President acts around her assistant?”
“Yeah, she seems so much happier than before. It’s like Miss Lusamine’s back to her old self again.”
A pair of employees whisper to each other while watching Lusamine cling to s/o with a happy smile on her face while touring the Conservation Area of Aether Paradise.
If s/o has any pokémon under his care, they automatically become Lusamine’s favorite pokémon.
After all, if these pokémon belong to her beloved darling, then they’re worthy of her love as well.
“Look at you. You’re all so beautiful! Much like your trainer, but to a lesser degree of course.”
She tells s/o’s pokémon with adoration in her voice, although they are slightly scared of her due to sensing the crazy vibes of their trainer’s girlfriend.
Because of the age difference between her and s/o, Lusamine often feels insecure about their relationship.
“My darling says he loves me, but what if he meets someone younger! I’m a previously married woman in her 40s with two ungrateful children! Not that I’d ever let him leave me, but what if s/o woke up one day and decided he no longer wants my love?!”
This thought drives Lusamine to the brink of insanity, but luckily s/o reins her in and does his best to reassure his girlfriend, unaware of her darker thoughts.
“I don’t care that you’re older than me, or that you had a family before we got together. I love you Lusamine, and I’m never gonna leave you.”
“D-do you promise?”
She asks him, letting the more innocent and child-like side of her personality shine through.
“Yes. I’d never lie or joke about something like that babe, you know that.”
S/o’s reassurance calms her down quite a bit as she hugs him tightly.
“Thank you my darling s/o. You truly are deserving of all my love and affection, even more so than the rarest pokémon in the world.”
Not long after this, Lusamine asks for her beloved’s hand in marriage one day after having a very romantic evening together, which he happily accepts.
“S/o, the light of my life, will you make me the happiest woman in the world and marry me?”
Before she can even get on one knee and pull out the ring, s/o gets up from the table and nods with a very ecstatic smile on his face, much to her delight.
“Yes! Absolutely! I love you Lusamine!”
He hugs her with happy tears in his eyes as she chuckles and smiles softly with a crazed twinkle in her eyes before speaking.
“I love you too my dear, and once we’re married, our love will be eternal.”
Despite her previous husband and children leaving her (at least in her twisted point of view), Lusamine takes solace in knowing that s/o, the lone person worthy of her immense love, will never abandon her like they did, and if someone foolishly dares try to steal the object of her obsession away, well…
The experiments Lusamine and the Aether Foundation plan on conducting involving Ultra Wormholes will require a few test subjects….whether they’re willing or not.

The Key to Releasing Attachment
Recognizing and releasing unhealthy attachments is the biggest step in the journey of self-improvement, self-love, and self-actualization. Attachments are the source of pain in our lives.
At its core, an attachment originates from the belief that something outside of ourself possesses that which we lack internally. Often, this belief traces back to childhood, where abandonment or abuse birthed feelings of inadequacy, shame, and the pursuit of conditional love.
We begin to craft narratives around our attachments, convincing ourselves that certain external people or circumstances hold the key to our happiness and safety. We desperately cling to things, believing that they are the only way to secure our well being.
When we lack validation and safety from ourselves, chasing those things externally is the only way that we know how to obtain them. In this pursuit we unknowingly abandon the self, altering behaviors, suppressing vulnerability, compromising on boundaries - all in an attempt to retain control over the external factors validating our experience. Slowly, we lose ourselves - our values, emotions, and directions.
Acknowledging the narratives that we construct, recognizing the unhealthy patterns that we may be repeating, and owning up to self-abandonment is how we dissolve these things.
The root of our attachment to external factors lies in our inner child's need for validation and safety. To rectify this, we turn inwards, towards self-love. Inwards, we recognize that we are whole. We show ourselves that we will no longer abandon the self, and we build safety and groundedness. We provide the love and safety that we always looked for externally. We realize that everything we've ever needed resides within. When we create feelings of safety and love within ourselves, we know that we do not need anything or anyone. Authenticity becomes how we no longer abandon the self. We know that we do not need to minimize ourselves for anything, because we can provide everything that we have ever needed on the inside.
This allows us to let go of attachment and outcomes. Letting go of outcomes allows us to be fully authentic and to attract the correct experiences into our lives. We attract the right people and experiences from a place of true authenticity. We know that we do not need anything, so these people and experiences only add to our life.
Love for the people in our lives which is rooted in authenticity and detachment from outcomes is unconditional. The key to releasing attachment is in your hands. Create safety and validation for yourself, and choose to not abandon the self. Consciously select your own energy and your own mind for validation, and you will feel more free than ever. :)

Change Management: 5 Ways to Support Yourself in the Process of Change

Before deep change, there is deep reflection. 
2020, the mother of all mirrors. 
Usually it takes a rock bottom, a near death, a death or an eat-pray-love experience for us to face the thing that’s been holding us back: ourselves. 
I’m not talking about our conscious selves, we would never knowingly hold ourselves back. I’m talking about something deeper.
Scientists call it ‘conditioning’, psychologists say ‘maladaptive beliefs’, new age folk prefer ‘self-limiting beliefs’, I’ve heard motivational gurus use ‘subconscious programming’, while the mystics say ‘the shadow self’, you’ve probably also heard it referred to as ‘your demons’. 
Call it what you will. 
The point is, we live most of our lives mindlessly, on autopilot, saving energy for when we do need to make decisions, problem solve or run from wildebeests. And that’s a smart way to save energy. The downside is that if the program our autopilot is set to has a glitch in it, a mistake of some sort, a conditioned-maladaptive-limiting-subconscious-shadow-demon-thought lurking deep below our awareness, we’re going to repeat that mistake around 90% of the time.
Change. You can want it so bad, SO bad, you can have a rad plan, and try real hard, but it won’t stick if you don’t deal with whatever your subconscious mind is tripping on. 
It’s futile. 
YOU, however, are lucky enough to be, right now, in the process of deep change, real, lasting change. You have 2020 to thank. 2020 has forced us all into some deep dark reflection.
Please. Don’t. Stop. 
Don’t stop now if things are ‘going back to normal’. Instead of going backwards, go deeper.
Before we get to my theory of how change starts in the mind but is set to fruition deeper within the body, and my tips on how to support yourself in this process, let’s first get real about what you’re signing up for.
The process looks like this:

In the process of change, the process of making something new that didn’t exist before, also known as the creative process - things get worse before they get better. 
It seems cruel but it’s actually genius. 
The high emotions we experience at the start of the process suck us in, but as we get into it, they quickly fade.
Hiding in your rock-bottom-despair at the center of the process triggers the exact emotional wound or ‘subconscious-shadow-demon’ that would continue to trip you up if you didn’t deal with it. It’s exactly what you need to deal with to change the programming that’s stopping the change from sticking. 
These deep wounds or misconceptions were ingrained before you had rational thoughts, so no amount of thinking can transcend them. Only when we feel the pain can we heal the pain. Corny but true.
After the low point in the middle where we are forced to deal with our baggage, is when things start to get better. We still make mistakes and missteps that teach us more valuable lessons that are needed in order to achieve what we set out to do. The closer we get to achievement, the higher our spirits soar.  
Many people, I’m raising my hand, hit this point of discomfort in the middle of the process and see it as an inconvenient obstacle rather than the gift it is. Opening ourselves up to feel is the invitation into the backend of our autopilot programming, where we can make edits and change our programming, swapping unhealthy patterns for empowering ones. 
Instead of leaning into this awesome opportunity, many of us get frustrated with the perceived obstacle and give up on the process and ourselves, ultimately, allowing our minds to rationalise and justify our exit plan. Letting our unhealthy patterns live to ruin another day.   
Not today, today we’re going deeper into the fire of transformation. 
I’m nearly up to the 5 sassy tips because everyone loves a listicle, but first I want to quickly back up my claim that the true processing power lies in le body. 
You’ve heard about the benefits of gratitude, right? How it’s proven to boost mental health and resilience? I’ve found that listing our blessings is just the vehicle that gets us out of our minds, into our bodies, where we physically feel gratitude. Thinking about things we’re grateful for, can alter our mindset to be more positive ONLY when we allow ourselves to FEEL it. You can fake a gratitude practice the same way you can fake an orgasm. Hopefully your grateful façade will trick yourself into feeling it below the surface, but if you’re as stubborn and headstrong as me, you’ll walk away with the disappointment you brought with you plus some more.
I suggest that it’s not the thinking, it’s the oozey warm feeling you get in your chest, the moment of being in your body and leaning into the joy, that is where the real benefits of gratitude come from. Brene Brown discovered that even though it might seem responsible to prepare for life’s potential hardships, in reality, the people who MENTALLY rehearse disaster, are statistically less resilient. She found that the people with the greatest resilience were the ones that leaned deeply into their FEELINGS of joy. 
Are you sold yet, the body trumps the mind? Feelings over thoughts? I know it’s hard to swallow when we’ve been taught to believe emotions are less reliable than logic. Try to stay open to it if you’re not there yet. 
Here it is, what you’ve been scrolling for, 5 Failure Friendly tips for transformation that sticks:
1. No blame games

When self reflecting there will come a moment when we become aware of an aspect of ourselves, that until now has gone unnoticed, this is when we experience mindfulness. Mindfulness is the opposite of mindlessness. Meaning the behavior we uncover was participated in it mindlessly, it was subconscious behaviour. 
We have no control over subconscious behaviour until the ‘aha moment’ when we wake up to ourselves and become conscious to it. Whatever you’ve done or not done, it really wasn’t up to you, so it’s a waste of time to punish yourself with thoughts like ‘I should have known better!’ There is no shoulda, coulda or woulda  when it comes to subconscious thoughts and behaviours. So don’t waste energy judging yourself for your mindless choices. 
This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take responsibility for your actions. The moment we become conscious is simultaneously the moment we become response-able. Finally seeing the full picture gives us the ability to discern and respond. Before I unpack how to respond consciously, you need to understand that mindfulness is a thought or knowing that happens in the mind. The next step is to move this insight away from the mind and into the body where the transformation begins.
2. Out of our minds and into our bodies

One of the hurdles of transformation is processing this new information. Instead of getting stuck in our head by falling into vicious cycles of over-thinking, we can take the idea from the mind and transform it into a feeling, for our bodies to process. As I said earlier, the power of gratitude practices are well documented, but it’s not the gratitude lists that boosts our mental health. Counting our blessings is just the vehicle that brings us into our bodies where we physically feel gratitude. You know that oozey warm heart-full feeling? That’s where, I argue, the real restorative benefits come from.
Gratitude is to joy what forgiveness is to pain, both are experiences that happen in the body, not the mind. If 2020 forced you to reflect and uncover some painful truths, this is a call for forgiveness. Again, emotions need to be felt and transformed in the body. Joy needs to be felt and transformed into an experience of physical gratitude, while pain needs to be felt and transformed into an experience of physical forgiveness. The cool side-effect is that both of these transformative experiences boost our resilience and make us stronger (which we will need as we step further into the process of change). As compared to dwelling and obsessing about pain or joy in the mind, that will only shrink or swell our egos. Having an inferior or superior ego makes us more fragile to life’s bumps in the road. 
Start by thinking about the pain that’s attached to your mindless behaviour, how it’s negatively affected you and those around you. Now consciously invite that discomfort into your body to feel the sensation of that pain. Scan your body, where do you feel it and what does it feel like? Lean into the discomfort, you were designed for this. Name it, aloud if you can, even better face yourself in the mirror as you do it. Feeling leads to healing, another corny truth, healing is when we can forgive or release the pain so that it stops interfering in our autopilot program. 
The only person you have to forgive in this moment is yourself. If someone else wounded you, don’t feel pressured to forgive them. You can forgive them if it feels good, when and if you’re ready. Or you can visualise handing them back the baggage along with the responsibility for them to forgive themselves. If self-forgiveness doesn’t feel attainable right now, just being willing to forgive is enough.  
Rather than telling your hurt self to cheer up, instead give yourself space to feel all of your feelings without judgement. If you notice yourself holding a grudge on your past self, or panicking about falling apart, breathe into that feeling and invite forgiveness to soften its edges. You can journal or affirm something loving like ‘it’s okay, let it out, I am willing to witness this.’
3. Understand what you’re up against

Imagine a path in the Aussie bush. Surrounded by trees and thick shrubs, the narrow clearing has been worn away by constant foot traffic. Your mindless thoughts and behaviour have a neural pathway just like this well-worn path. You’ve unknowingly practiced the response so many times that it has become a habit, requiring zero effort for your brain to perform. Changing your thoughts and behaviours is like walking off the well-worn path and bush bashing your way to a new reality. Urgh. As I looked down the barrel of change recently, it was not the uncertainty that scared me most, but the high likelihood of failure. The mindfulness I had mustered felt like a drop of water, while the ingrained pattern of unhealthy behaviour was the ocean. It feels impossible not to slip right back into the old comfy pattern. What was the point, right?
Wrong. If you have the same fear of failure, acknowledge how difficult this feels, then listen up. Even a monk cannot maintain mindfulness 24/7 so we are going to find ourselves back in the mindless pattern sooner or later. Slipping back into subconscious programming is subconscious a.k.a. no self judgement or blame games allowed (refer back to point 1). Instead of giving up before you begin, prepare for the inevitable relapse and visualise now, what will you do to course-correct when you slip back into mindlessness?
4. Breaking the habit, one relapse at a time

Welcome the relapses, they are an important part of the process and yes, there will be many. Relapsing into old patterns is not failure, it’s not even a setback. Embrace each slip with open arms because relapsing is our opportunity to bounce back, and bouncing back is how we break down old patterns. It’s in the bouncing back that we work our resilience muscles and cement the desired transformation. 
‘Bouncing back’ sounds fun and easy. It's not. As you test out your new mindful behaviour, you’re going to feel the pull of the old habit. It will to try and lure you back to the well worn path with it’s comfy promise. You’ve practice the mindless behaviour so many times it’s become comfortable, in comparison this new behaviour feels very uncomfortable. Resisting this pull feels wrong. Even though it feels wrong, this discomfort is a sign that you’re on the right path and in the process of change. So remember, if it feels wrong - you’re doing it right!
Soon you will have broken away from this mindless habit so many times that when you do relapse, your mind will be flooded with memories of how you’ve bounced back. Knowing you’ve bounced back before makes it easier for you to slide into those conscious choices. This not only strengthens the new habit and your transformation, but it weakens the old patterns. Remember this as you’re choosing to act differently and wading through the discomfort after those early relapses. Every time it will get a little easier. 
Establishing a habit isn’t immediate, the fastest proven way to forge a new habit is to add the desired behaviour to an existing habit. For example, we habitually brush our teeth at the same time every day, so our existing morning or nighttime routine is the perfect time to practice the new thought or behaviour. (This is why I write affirmations in lipstick on my bathroom mirror).
5. Celebrate your relapse with a shot of dopamine

There is a secret weapon you can use to supercharge your transformation: dopamine. Dopamine is the feel good hormone that is released whenever we tick something off our to-do list or achieve a goal. Our brains are addicted to dopamine. It’s been proven that when you give yourself a dopamine hit after completing a task you are more likely to succeed at the next task. So count your effort - don’t discount it! 
Every time you relapse and then bounce back, really acknowledge yourself and celebrate your effort. You can keep a tally, give yourself a gold star or a physical pat on the back, whatever you need to mark the occasion and cue the dopamine. Your brain will crave the reward and subconsciously begin to look for more opportunities to bounce back. Suddenly the subconscious mind that was working against you, is on team transformation. 
Just like eating well or staying fit, it’s a practice not a quick fix or one size fits all approach. With no end in sight, we practice change and mindfulness daily. Your practice will evolve and it will see seasons of strong dedication and low motivation. Along the way, remember to think back to your early ‘aha’ moments and celebrate how far you’ve come, which will provide an encouraging hit of dopamine to accelerate your momentum. 
Set regular reminders for reflection, like a ‘Mindset Monday’. Checking in on your thoughts allows you to catch mindless patterns early. Finish sentences like ‘I feel’ to uncover things you’re avoiding. Remember to ask yourself why, why and why again to get the root of your mindless chatter. And don’t forget to schedule regular ‘Progress Parties’ to take stock of your achievements, no matter how big or small. 
The fear of failure is the number one thing that stops us from engaging in the process of change. When we understand that failure isn’t fatal, just an important part of the process, theoretically we are free to pursue our dreams. But in a culture that idolises effortless perfection, becoming a friend to failure is easier said than done.

Taking Back Your Power: Breaking Free from the Writing on the Wall
Everyone has writing on their wall — hidden belief systems and pre-recorded programs that dictate how we behave, react and experience ourselves and the world.
This information has been imprinted onto our subconscious minds like music onto the track of a tape. We may not be aware of it, but we listen to the voice that spouts it everyday, and we do what it says. The writing on our wall is our most prominent advisor, and we consult it all day long.
It’s the writing on our wall that makes us repeat that same unhealthy habits and patterns, and keeps us feeling discouraged, fearful, and even sad. It includes everything we hold to be true, even if it’s not the truth. Our ego rallies to defend everything written on the wall, true or false — it’s all the ego is aware of.  
We often only become aware of what is written on our wall by hearing our inner critic. For all our conversations with family, friends, and coworkers, there is one person we speak to more than anyone else: our self. But too often the conversation goes like this: “No matter what I do, I just can’t get it right.” That’s because the inner-voice you’re hearing comes straight from the writing on your wall.
But we can all take back our power from the script on our walls. Follow these five steps:
Resolve to rewrite the pathways
There is no entity to control your subconscious programs. It’s the mind, not the brain that tells the body what to do. Your willpower and intentions need a new pathway. To create that, you need to examine what’s written on your walls. In the discovery process, you will also develop a new understanding, and a sense of forgiveness — for yourself as well as others. Remember that those others who wrote on our walls did so unknowingly, and they, in turn, were programmed by others, backward through time.
People simply do what they do. But we can move from the Shame /Blame, Good/Bad, Right/Wrong game to taking our own responsibility.
Write down everything the voice tells you

You will discover that the voice is not really who you are, it’s someone else’s story that was passed on to you. It may be the story of a parent, a caregiver, a teacher, or a friend. Note when you have conflicts with what the voice is saying, and don’t try to come up with answers. You’re just observing and allowing more questions to come to the surface.
Use questions to gain insights
Try to end each journal entry with a question instead of a statement, as a reminder to stay open during this process of discovery. Reality test what the voice says. Respond to the voice, telling it how you feel, and recording your emotions. And to gain insights on the nature of the writing on your wall, ask yourself these questions, making sure to you are paying attention to your answer:
Do I hear/pay attention to the voice in my head?
How often do I hear the voice in my head?
What is it saying to me? Is it positive or negative?
Is what the voice is saying ringing true or false?
What do I think about what the voice says?
Do I believe in what the voice is saying?
Which statements do I agree with, and disagree with?
What emotions come up for me when I hear the voice in my head?
Does it sound like someone I might have heard before? And if so, who?
Reach Out to Others
Start an ongoing conversation with a friend or loved one, sharing your experiences of the voice in your head and the process of journaling. Encourage them to tell their story, talking about their inner voice and when it shows up for them. As they talk, practice active listening.
Share reflections on each of your experiences, discussing your conflicts or reactions. Talk about whether those voices have caused you to miss anything in your lives — opportunities, experiences, and events. Talk about what needs, attachments, or beliefs you might have had that either interfered with or supported that voice. 
Celebrate the Milestones
As you continue this practice, your mind will begin to dismantle any old template that is not being used. You’ll find that you will notice more quickly just when you’re hooked into habitual patterns, and that it’s easier to refrain from addictive or destructive habitual behaviors. A kind of shedding may start to happen — a shedding of old habits, a shedding of being held hostage by fear.
One day you will be free to simply be who you really are.
Standing up to the writing on your wall takes personal courage and honesty. Celebrate this growth in yourself as you undertake this process. One could objectively consider that Rev Moon‘s DP concepts are only meaningful based on the way they subtly affect people’s lives.
Rev Moon wanted to re-shape “fallen humans” according to how he viewed God’s will through his own interpretation of DP.  UM members have been his “guinea pigs”
After more than 70 years of authoritarian development, it’s time to check both Rev Moon’s teachings and his specific methods to implement them within his family and the movement at large.
Are these teachings truly respectful and compatible with humankind’s most cherish ideal of freedom of thought?  Do they value more encouragement to genuine expression of original nature or unificationist conformity via the endless mandatory laying of “indemnity conditions”? Do these teachings lead to follow one’s conscience more than one’s “God appointed central figure”? Do they lead to do things more by genuine love and generosity or by enforced duty and induced guilty conscience?
From such standpoints, some teachings and applications of Unificationism can be seen as potential manipulative tools, even though they have been systematically “justified” and branded as being the mere practical expression of “God’s point of view” by Rev Moon and those who study his DP without a critical mind. For them, therefore the simple fact of mentioning such dangerous possibility is systematically perceived as an attack against their “faith”.
However such considerations are not malicious unfounded misperceptions which can easily be discarded. It rather seems like if Unificationists had unknowingly developed over the years some kind of “Stockholm syndrome” which have altered their judgment and which is currently preventing them from seeing what has subtly been going on.
I’d like to just share here 4 important typically Unificationists injunctions or behaviors which are rooted in DP and Rev Moon’s teaching, and which can be perceived as dangerously manipulative.
Even though today they might be greatly tone down or minimized, they are undeniable characteristics of Unificationist teaching and have been experimented (taught and lived) by thousands of members all around the world.
“The end justifies the means”: Teaching and training to do things against one’s conscience, under the pretense it is an “act of faith”. It’s based on a malicious use of recorded immoral behaviors from biblical figures.
“Idolatry and Absolute servility to TP”: Teaching and training to become 100% submissive to “Abel” to prove your faith to God and not be “invaded by Satan”, ultimately leading to the idolatry of TP.
“Satanic identity and Unworthiness ” : Teaching and being over-reminded to be fundamentally an ever guilty “unworthy” person for having an inherent “fallen nature”
“Eternal debt and Abusive high demands”: Teaching and being over-reminded to never have done enough and not have sacrificed enough. One is ETERNALLY indebted to “True Parents” and should then unconditionally obey them and gratefully submit to their wildest whims with a shut mouth.
Alternatives to these 4 DP toxic injunctions and subsequent behaviors do exist. They can’t but unavoidably lead to much more compassionate and positive views and understandings of God. This has been my personal experience, my lucky escape and my laborious liberation from these Unificationist poisonous teachings.
1. The end justifies the means: This twisted proposal was rightly presented in Causa as one of the greatest flaw of communism. Let then admit it’s also the greatest flaw of DP and of Rev Moon’s teaching. The “excuse” that others did it, is manipulative.
The fact that Rev Moon uses such deceitful justification for his misbehaviors doesn’t make it right.
Why would God teach and train humankind for 2 thousands years about the wickedness of lies and adultery to send someone who would adopt and justify opposite behaviors?
God knows our hearts and wants His Love and righteousness to shine through us. God never cheats. CHEATING IS FALSE TEACHING. Isn’t that the core reason why (once properly informed) Christianity couldn’t accept Rev Moon? God’s will can only be achieved through man’s freedom, man’s whole hearted acceptance and clear awareness. Not through deceitful cheating.
2. Idolatry and servility: How can any religious movement in the 21st century still promote idolatry? Or continue promoting today feudal servility toward a master or king with “divine rights”? God knows our faith and expects us to represent Him through our loving daily actions, not through an unconditional surrender to anybody else’s whims. God wants us to be more and more ourselves, not somebody else’s copy. He loves us personally, for ourselves and not through someone else.
Manipulators can use their authority (fake or real) to control others and gain more power from being obeyed and be the rulers, having troops in their image.
Of course, in such unhealthy and totally unbalanced relationships (which are rooted in DP teaching) personal Initiatives, creativity and competent advices are not welcomed, but are rather seen as a threat to “authority” or a sign of “rebellion”. Is that the good environment in which God wants His children to grow? It’s our love for God and our joy to honor Him in healthy loving relationships with all his children (instead of only one wrongly idealized Korean couple) that is leading us to his Heart. Our genuine love for God only matters, and not the induced fear of Satan who, as all manipulators, does have only the importance we attribute to him/them.
3. Satanic identity and unworthiness: “You are part of the evil lineage and you are not only guilty for your own sins but for everyone else’s sins”. That’s not our identity. We are God’s beloved precious children. That’s our true identity and our eternal original nature written forever within our deepest heart.
The toxic Unificationist way to load members with illegitimate guilt and unfounded overwhelming responsibility is indeed a very efficient manipulative tool to control them.
If you fail….then would follow a subsequent list of potential calamities for the world and of course the mention of our ancestors everlasting increased suffering due to our failure…
DP absolutely ignores and promotes the opposite of what God is revealing and teaching today through modern psychology concerning the structuration of human personalities, the development of healthy confident individuals and the importance of absolutely avoiding over-repeated negative judgments which can only greatly distort one’s self-image.
How many times in his/her life has an Unificationist heard the term “fallen nature”? Probably thousands and thousands times! But how many times has he heard the term “original mind”? Unfortunately very seldom…
How many times did Rev Moon recognize members’ accomplishments? How often did he scold members? Comparatively how many times did he mentioned “his“ accomplishments? You know: Father did…, Father did….But did he ever mentioned any of his own flaws?
These are highly toxic ways of education.
As humans, we can behave badly and acknowledge it, and continue our growing, but forever we belong to our Creator.
4. Eternal debt and abusive high demands: “You have failed… you are so ungrateful…” (this is a very polite expression of a truly toxic recurrent Unificationist teaching).
In order to exploit others and regularly come back to them with abusive high demands, this is a very efficient method. Japanese members know it perfectly for they experienced it from inception until today. “Your debt is so huge and “True Parents” have done so much” …according to Rev Moon.
Members become compliant beasts of burden. They ultimately surrender to the idea that they are perpetually in debt and liable to indefinite servitude.
This permitted for years the extortions of amazing amounts of money under various false pretenses and the exploitation of unpaid members or largely underpaid members “for the good cause” and the lucrative development of “providential economic activities”
God actually knows what we have done and with which motivation we did it. Let’s remain thankful for others’ advices, plainly aware however they may be mistaken …or just self-interest seekers.
Let’s never forget that God is more searching for loving hearts than for sacrifices.
And even if our own heart condemns us, God is greater than our hearts. Let’s be aware that manipulators love to humiliate others before “lovingly” giving them the amazing “grace” of having one more chance to do more.
Let’s also never forget that charlatans know very well how to precisely describe self- invented diseases before cleverly announcing they are the only ones to luckily detain the mandatory cure.
The good point is that we can also greatly learn from examples to the contrary. And definitely thousands of people have learned precious things this way, from their Unificationist experience.
