is there any rhyme or reason to which cards you upload when? like do you try to space out types/generations/artists so there aren't too many in a row or do you just post what you have?
I try to post one of every region and bookend it with a trainer card. I also try not to have adjacent regions post next to each other if I can help it (hoenn right after johto, etc.) to help it feel as random as I can. Sometimes I shake it up a little and double up on gens I have a TON of cards for (gens 1-5 + 9), and recently I've been running out of gen 6-8 cards really quickly (they have small pokedexes as it is and they're less new so there's less circulating) so there's gonna be some big pockets of just gen 1-5 + 9 in the queue for a while.
Usually I just post whatever's at the top of the folder, but sometimes if I feel like its too monotonous (too many new cards in a row, for example) I go to the bottom of the folder instead or go to a random place in the middle or find places where the same Pokemon are right next to each other in the folder so I can break them up and not worry about it in the future.
I have a jpeg file of the full card and a png file of the art itself so I have a reference with the artist listed, then I drop both into another folder within each region (I have the folders sorted by region) so I know I've posted it already. I try my best to check for duplicates but sometimes they just slip past me. Its hard to remember thousands of cards I've looked at and posted and its a lot to scroll through.
So yeah, that's a peek into my method. :)

Alright, I will be honest:
I don't like Black&White saga cause it feels like flopoed retcon/reboot of pokeanime. Like, in the beginning it cut ties to previous sagas and regions. Like, after whole THE BUILD UP in Sinnoh, it felt like Ash got robbed. Also doesn't help that in beginning they isolated Unova pokemon from previous generations. And the thing is, is that 5 gen pokemon design already stylistically different from previous ones: more round, simplified.
Also, it didn't help that relationship with rivals are less close and tense than in Diamond&Pearl. Like, all other characters beside main trio feels shallow and caricatures. In Sinnoh, both Ash and Dawn learned something from their rivals, Paul and Zoe were REALLY IMPACTFUL to them. But when we compare Iris and Dragon huntress (yes, I don't even remember her name)... That's basic. Like, Iris's rival surved as plot tool few times at best.
But second part of saga is better (*cough - cough * cause Cynthia and Dawn came back *cough- cough*) : old pokemon are back, we see mythical pokemon in action. Also, I enjoyed Decolora arc!
Good points of BW:
I like Cylan and Iris. For Iris in particular... She feels like Misty's other version, but in a good way. I also like her story arcs with her team, like damn, homegirl got her own Suicide squad in pokeworld 😂.
Also, there's Team R... One one hand, it's was hard for me to see them drop comedy tone. On another hand, they demonstrated us how much dangerous they can be! Like, they got their business! Our trio was more menacing than whole Team Plazma, honestly 😅.
All in all, my main issue is that Black and White drop most of connections with Diamond and Pearl. Like, transition was too DRASTIC. But I do understand, that there ate people who adores 5 gen. I mean, I heard that 5 gen games was top tier. It's just, unfortunately, I stsrted to dwell into pokemon games since 6 gen, so I was unable to even play Black and White. Maybe in that case I watched anime in different context.
Also, I really like movies in that saga! Like Keldeo and Mewtwo (or Newtwo ( if you know you know)) put everything in their movies, and Victini's one with TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS was low-key something in cinematic universe level.
... That was looong ask, but I really need that out of my chest 😅
Nah, dont worry, go and vent its the first step to overcoming trauma lol I joke but seriously, if everyone sat down to understand what they dislike and like about a season like that, things would be so much simpler :v
BW is totally an attempt to a soft reboot! But there's one thing I feel folks often forget: The games themselves were that too!!
The lack of pokemon pre gen 5 was something that came from the games, as unova was the first region outside of Japan. Pokemon company was trying to start anew from all sides and that ended up affecting the anime the most because for some reason, it was decided that they would star anew, but keep a familiar face in Ash.
And then we have the fact that the BW games got a sequel immediately after, Black and White 2, and the story on those was directly connected to the first games, showcasing an Unova 2 years after BW1 (highly reccomend them btw, some of the best overarching story in pokemon games ever)
And like, the anime started with the narrator just saying Ash was still 10!! Someone surely made that a rule in the background, so how could they tell the story of a Unova 2 years later with a main character that just couldn't age?
So the writers just had to do their own thing. And probably made up so much of it halfway and also explain why they just scrapped so many characters of the day post league. They just wanted some time for people to forget the first half of BW to try and implement things from BW2.
And that's the thing, this issue is not from BW only. We know for a fact that there were plans for Ash to leave the anime during Johto, but they couldn't just say goodbye to him, so he stayed. Black and White was just the culmination of that decision. And I feel like hating on it alone is just… not aknowledging that pokeani is flawed from the get-go yknow?
What made BW that weird is what made Ash and Serena and the Kalos loss weird, what made journeys weird and what made 2beamaster miniseries that FUCKING WEIRD.
BUT GOSH TRIO!! Now the way those 3 were handled in the season is one thing I can't excuse lmao
People love to talk how out of character Ash acts this season, even though is not even that OOC when compared to pre DP, but TR were the ones that felt like complete different characters! And while I enjoy the whiplash of Ash gang doing silly things overlapped with very serious evil dutiestm, I feel like that that was a bad decision throught and throught. I get that at first they wanted a Team Rocket vs Team Plasma situation, but doing that with the TRio is just so weird.
HELL YEAH, I LOVE THE NEWTWO MOVIE! It makes no sense but gosh Mewtwo2 and genesect's relationship is just so ADORABLE i love them so much. Is those kind of stuff that makes me sad about BW, folks see a mewtwo that is not the main one and they dont give it a shot, but is such a heartwarming story in the end.

Wheeze, here we are at long last before I have to go into College/Life lockdown again. You won't believe how much can happen in a month and the huge projects that lie ahead, but anyways! - It's cool how you have a PHD in Silver Handling. The closest acronym I could get for that was calling it a Psy.D (precarious Silver yeeting doctorate LOL) anyways you're so right, good analytic potential AND its interesting that it's him being Giovanni's son that you point out. I like that bit too, and I'd love to hear what about it makes it so dope to you :D - Twitter is the trenches </3 glad you like it here more :3 tumblr is THE place for neurodivergent folks like us and HARD AGREE on reading game dialogue. its my favorite lore hunting technique. I cannot fight Gyms until every inch of that city has been explored. - Literally bouncing up at down at the mental imagery of Leaf sitting at a blocky computer with Bill. I can just vaguellyyyy reach out to that era through memory, of idk, images, did I ever see them in person? in dreams? all I know is that even in the early 20s the age of dial-up phones wasn't instantly forgotten. maybe at someone's house. but there is SO much 90s to project there and it can be so enjoyable. nostalgia + growing up + that one era that is more romanticized in retro aesthetic and the social culture bc that's how the neighbors eldest daughters grew up and how do we, in modern times, achieve that? - if it's controversial, nobody's yapping about it when it comes to other characters lol. Leaf is pretty consistent if you keep an open mind so taking from other media 100% makes sense. I do it too :P oooh Silver and Leaf meeting on 5 island I love that!! aw man, with the Rocket base and that Scientist I'm just full of giggling here. Pff, Archer is going to get his butt kicked by the boss's son's friend HA tfw the same kids you see running around take down TR - oh I like how you bring the environment and economy into it, solid reasoning for moving + Pallet connects to the ocean that leads to Cinnabar, no? but yeah :D great customer base, little homey place but close to Viridian and the Indigo Plateau as well, plenty of people stopping by! omg Leaf coming from the hair sprouts 😭 oh that's clever I like it! - really enamored with the Bill + Leaf aspects of your story, it's just really speaking to some deep corner of my soul's memory. im so stoked somebody else likes this haha my Leaf is a bit more politically motivated (at least in one universe lol, bc it's the anime which is an utter disaster and she wants to be Champion to clean house and heal the economy) but also someone oughta do something bc Lance is working like 5 different jobs 😭 also, I can imagine with most of your HCs centered around character relationships they might feel like a hard sell compared to cold facts and I 100% feel you. so much of my fic is just character dynamics nobody else would get it LOL. but I'm honored you have so much you'd want to yap about it. fully encourage and love yapisodes - I looked at your Silver post and you said it's only if you're playing as Red but good news, Scientist Gideon STILL asks that if you play as Leaf. He says "Giovanni's kid" not his son :D - at the time you asked that, I was writing 6.1k of a chapter for another fandom, but lately I've had Leaf on the brain again and rlly want to get a solid outline for that series going. <-- the kind of yapping better suited for DMs lol. yess, love seeing how the Pokemon world is connected in media. utterly obsessed with Gen/Evo Specials, you can imagine the cheering when Silver's episode dropped 7 years ago he's so <3 <3 <3 if you like Silver + Leaf sibs then you feel like someone I can smuggle into Dad Lance city that doesn't leave her out, but hey. oldest daughter problems maybe if we incorporate the tendency to focus on Kris/Lyra/Ethan and thanks to Masters, LILLIE?!?!? <-- understand Johto kids but LILLIE???? and every time I see Lance with Red/Blue I'm like "aight, so I gotta fill this vacancy myself"
helllloooo first of all i want to say sorry for taking so long to get to this😭 my last couple months have been a mess and i’ve been dealing with annoying health issues (in every way). i apologise if this reply isn’t as long or thorough as usual🤧
i think what i like about the silver giovanni connection so much is how well it connects johto + kanto story wise. johto to me is still a very undeveloped and lowkey forgotten region unfortunately but silvers character is easily the shining part of the region. i also think it’s cool how he’s also connected to red (or leaf) due to the whole reason giovanni abandoning him being because of red/leaf’s defeat of team rocket, ultimately crushing his ego lol - just one big butterfly effect that i thoroughly enjoy :p and as stated in my post, i like despite how hard he tried not to be, silver was quite similar to his dad until the events of the the johto story. seeing his growth makes me so happy 🤧🤧🤧✨
lmao talking of reading game dialogue … the offical pokemon twitter account made this post for fathers day (i think…? my fathers day isn’t till september 🤷🏻‍♀️)
Tumblr media
and the amount of people in the comments literally suprised gave me a stroke like??? lacey being clays daughter is explicitly stated LOL pokemon fans never cease to amaze me 😭😭😭
you’ve really got me thinking about kantrio in the 90s now LOL. i can see them all tryna message eachother on some aol type site and someone’s dial up cutting totally ruining their convos - most likely blue cause daisy wants to talk on the phone to bill or something … hmmm… ideas are brewing!!!! actually to sound old my family had dial up till 2009… insane😭😭 i used to get so mad at my mumma using the phone cause i just wanted to play club penguin LOL - oh and thx u for the compliment on the leaf + bill dynamic <3 bill is one of those random ass side characters that still is so iconic … i have so many hc’s for him too LOL no character can escape my headcanons
oh and i am the minister at the dad lance church!!! i’ve always seen him as not just a mentor to silver but the other johto kids and definitely the kanto trio before they grew up - that saying i still think as adults they turn to him alot since … half of them don’t have dads (both in canon and my hc LOL). i think as adults, the kantrio definitely have a more friend based relationship with him but as kids he definitely helped them through the spotlight that was put on them at such a young age.
ehghhh i very much apologise for this reply, my brain feels very disconnected from my body today and i feel like this hot mess of a reply shows LOL. again, i really apologise for the late reply. i wish you the best of luck with ur studies and writing ✨✨✨🩷🩷🩷

ARIADOL Shadow Puppet Pokémon
Ht: 4’ 8” - Wt: 80 lb
In ancient times, Ariadol were thought of as capricious forest spirits to be placated and appeased. If travellers did not provide a small offering to them, Ariadol would delight in stalking them through the woods and causing them great mischief on their journey.
Ariadol’s movements seem to be controlled by strange, intangible strings that manifest and disappear as needed, as if this Pokémon were being controlled by an extradimensional puppeteer.
Sample Moves: Leech Life, Gunk Shot, Trick Room, Rock Blast, Glare, Knock Off, U-Turn, Phantom Force, First Impression, Trick, Copycat, Grassy Glide, Forest’s Curse
CLAYDOS Sand Trap Pokémon
Ht: 5’ 1” - Wt: 250 lb
Claydos’ constantly spinning abdomen holds the quicksand it uses to ensnare its prey. It can psychically control the sand even after it has left its body, hardening it in an instant to immobilize its prey so that it can feed on their thoughts and dreams.
People in ancient times would enlist the help of Claydos to create beautiful sandstone and earthenware sculptures, entering a trance state to mind-meld with Claydos so that the sculptor could make use of its abilities to manipulate the sand and clay.
Sample Moves: Psycho Cut, Drill Run, Stone Edge, Hone Claws, Shadow Sneak, Psychic Fangs, Sucker Punch, Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Teleport, Scorching Sands
Claydol & Ariados evolve into Claydos and Ariadol when traded with one another.
(Design notes under the cut)
Tumblr media
When I was a kid playing Ruby/Sapphire, I always thought Claydol was a spider. Like, I read it’s nipples as eyes and just thought its actual eyes were just red things or whatever. I eventually understood it properly, and I still love Claydol as it actually is, but part of me will always prefer that misread psychic spider.
So that’s what inspired this line of thinking for these guys. Since the Ariados line’s gimmick is that they have a face on their butts, this seemed like a pretty appropriate way to go about getting my clay spider.
Tumblr media
Ariados’s butt-face thing isn’t super obvious in its design, it kind of looks like a weird rabbit or something from the back.
Tumblr media
The face thing is much clearer in its lost beta sprite, so I tried to take some elements of this precursor into Ariadol’s design.
Similarly to how Karrablast and Shelmet trade with one another to evolve into Escavalier and Accelgor, and swap some shit in the process, these guys trade and swap some traits too.
Chiefly, they swap which is end is their top and which their bottom. Claydos also gets spiderness from Ariados, and Ariadol gets “thingness” from Claydol.
I feel like these guys also theme together well when you consider the Johto region ecologically and anthropologically. The idea would be like, the dudes who made the Ruins of Alph way back in the day, who were all associated with Unown worship, would have also been people who would have carved and created Baltoys and Claydols, who are also weird eye-themed psychic fellas, and are based off ancient japanese Dogū figurines. Add to this the fact that Spinarak and Ariados are so everpresent in the region, it makes a kind of sense that there could be some evolutionary interaction between these two.
Typing-wise I really debated for a while having them switch secondary typings, or getting entirely new ones, but I couldn’t do it in a way that felt like a “fair trade” between the two of them, if you know what I mean. Plus, I didn’t want to like entirely revamp their movesets, which are both already suited to their original typings so yeah.
Just made them switch abilities more or less, if claydol was able to have more abilities than just levitate I would have given claydos some more interesting stuff, but theres a bit of a niche as a trick room sniper sweeper with the moves it gets.
Ariadol would be used as a trick room sweeper as well basically, I wanted to differentiate it from scolipede by having it gain bulk rather than getting fast, and merciless seemed like a cool way to do that, say after setting up a toxic spike at the start of the battle. Prankster toxic thread and glare and stuff with u-turn could turn it into a cool utility mon as well.
Ariadol:
If you’re familliar with it, this dude’s look is pretty clearly based off of the Flatwoods Monster, which I thought was fun cuz i wanted it to be like a weird creepy forest cryptid. The string stuff comes from it being a spider and having webs, which through gaining some of Claydol’s psychic traits are now weird psychic puppet strings. I also felt like it lended it some creepy haunted puppet flavour. The design ended up looking a bit like mismagius, so I thought it might be some lore to have it like earn protection from predators from playing up that mimicry.
Also theres some inspiration from real life spiders, like peacock jumping spiders and ornate harvestmen.
Finally I wanted the drooping legs and the design of the face to evoke some similarities with a leyak or penanggalan, which are spirits in indonesia and malaysia that take the form of like severed heads flying around with all the guts hanging out.
Claydos:
Uhh so even though this whole idea was inspired by making a Claydol into a spider, this guy took a really long time to get to something I was happy with, and I still kinda like Ariadol better tbh.
The main thrust of the design besides being a weird hovering spider is for the abdomen to look like a cement mixer, which I thought was a good way also to get that part of its body to spin, which I always thought Claydol’s should have done in the games. The end of it having a little cap was supposed to be a little shout out to trap door spiders.
Tried to make the patterning make it obvious that the top isn’t the head anymore without changing the nipple eyes very much because I like them as they are. Theres a hint of spiderweb in there but making it too overt made it look too busy.
I considered arranging the dots as a spider’s eyes are, but that was hard to make it obviously spinny as well and it was like well that part ISN’T the head anymore so. Then I was like ohh i could make the once-eyes into like little spiderlings that crowd around onto the abdomen like wolf spiders do, or even hover around like little Unown, but I really couldn’t get it to look right at all, even though i really liked that idea.
Anyway that’s about it! sorry for rambling for so long in this section. Really happy with these guys.

hello hi i present something That I Have Written
for some background, basically i played Pokemon White, but then I played Pokemon Black 2, so N had a different dragon than in the first games. normal people would ignore this but I decided to write Lore for how N ended up with Zekrom
(and it's basically self insert cuz im a rat)
anyways without further ado
Yuki travelled to Dragonspiral Tower, reflecting on his journeys the entire way up. Eventually, he stood at the top, surrounded by whipping winds and debris from past battles. He couldn’t help but notice the burn marks from when N had awakened Reshiram.
Zekrom came out. “So, what are you going to do, Hero?”
“We’re going to see the world.”
“And for the Hero of Truth?”
“I have a couple words for him.”
That answer seemed to satisfy Zekrom, as he crouched down so Yuki could climb onto his back.
“Wait.” Yuki sent out his Zoroark. In another time, it belonged to N. (i traded my n’s zorua from white 2 over) “Can you wait here in Unova, in case N returns?”
Zoroark looked a little disappointed, but nodded with a soft growl.
Yuki scratched it behind its ears. “I’ll miss you a lot, buddy. Thanks for everything.” (that zoroark carried my entire team)
Zoroark licked his hand, then transformed into a backpacker and ran off.
And so, Yuki took off.
In the faraway region of Johto, Yuki found him.
N was crouched down by a pond of Goldeen and Seaking, lightly tossing breadcrumbs for the Pokemon to eat. He caught a glimpse of Yuki in the water’s reflection and gasped.
“Hey.”
N stood, letting the small bag of breadcrumbs fall to the ground and spill into the pond. He blinked at Yuki, his expression layered with guilt, relief and confusion.
“It’s been a year, how’ve you been?” Yuki’s fingers twitched with the urge to grab N’s hands.
“I-” He looked down, fidgeting with his bracelets. “I- You-”
Yuki couldn’t stand it anymore and hugged him. “I missed you.”
N went stiff, then slowly and awkwardly hugged back. “...You did?”
“Of course! You’re my friend.”
Zekrom bumped heads with Reshiram, who was sitting nearby, drinking out of the pond.
“It looks like they missed each other, too,” N said, pulling away. He gave Reshiram a little scratch under the chin, earning a purr.
Reshiram smiled at Yuki. “How have you been, Hero of Ideals?”
“I’ve been well.”
N slowly picked up his bag of breadcrumbs and offered some to Yuki so the two of them could both toss them to the Seaking.
They talked for hours, of what they saw during their journeys and what they hoped to see next. Yuki told him about finding all the Sages and almost becoming Champion, squishing a tiny piece of bread between his fingers before throwing it to a Goldeen.
Then they climbed onto the backs of their legendary dragons and soared around the vast skies together, laughing and smiling and reveling in their reunion.
However, all things must come to an end, and both N and Yuki had more to see.
Yuki ran his hands through Reshiram’s fur, as she’d seemed to take a liking to him within the past few hours.
Zekrom, too, sat close to N, shooting him a grin every now and then.
“Well, I guess this is it.” Yuki rocked back and forth on his heels.
“I’d love to take you with me, but I believe we have our own paths we must follow.” N stepped aside so Zekrom could pass, but the dragon did not move.
“Zekrom and I feel the same. We have our own paths to follow,” Reshiram said. “If it is alright with you, Hero, I wish to travel with Yuki.”
Yuki jolted in surprise. “M-me? But, I’m not the Hero of Truth.”
N looked like he was trying very hard to keep his expression passive. “If that is what you desire, Reshiram, I have no qualms.”
Reshiram smiled. “You don’t have to lie, Hero.” She lightly bumped him with her nose. “It is not because of anything you did.”
Yuki slowly raised his hand. “And...why exactly do you want to travel with me?”
“Reshiram taught the Hero of Truth many things,” Zekrom replied. “Now, it seems there are things she wishes to teach you.”
Yuki slowly nodded, not knowing what else to say.
“On that note, I wish to travel with N.”
It was now N’s turn to be surprised. “Um- Pardon?”
“I want to show you what all the world can do for you. Besides, Yuki doesn’t have enough room on his team for both Reshiram and me.” Zekrom planted his feet, as if to show he wouldn’t be changing his mind.
Yuki sighed out a laugh. “Well, I guess we just traded dragons.”
N covered his smile with his hand. “I’m not sure the legends allow that, but oh well.”
“Now it’s like we have a piece of each other!” Yuki grinned, then attacked him with another hug. “Plus, now we have another reason to see each other again when the dragons want to switch.”
N shook his head with a small smile. Of course there were more reasons to meet than just that.
And so, the Heroes parted ways, with the opposite dragons. It turned out each dragon had a lot of wisdom and power to share with the other Hero.
---
N had watched in horror as his father fused his partner Zekrom with Kyurem. Ice had melted into obsidian scales, and their combined roars shook the cavern and made N shiver from the pain he felt from them.
But what felt worse, was that Zekrom was not only his friend. He was Yuki’s friend as well. How could he let this happen?
In the end, all he could do was watch as a young trainer he’d never met before defeated both the beast Black Kyurem, and his father.
Zekrom and Kyurem split, and his father was taken away.
“Thank you,” N said to the trainer. “Zekrom is a very close friend of mine, and is also close with a trainer called Yuki. I was looking for him, actually, but I sensed a change in Unova and had to come. I wonder if he sensed it as well…”
The trainer only stared at him with wonder and admiration.
“You!” N stepped closer, forgetting personal space was a thing. “I think you should challenge your ideals by taking on the Pokemon League.”
Yuki once did it, so N had full faith that this trainer could as well.
N stepped back. “I’ll… I’ll get going now. It’s nice to be back in Unova after all this time.” As he left, the trainer called out to him.
“N! Thank you for saving me.”
N didn’t think about how the trainer knew his name. He only smiled, waved, and turned away once again.
He wondered where Yuki and Reshiram were, and when he’d see them again. He knew it would be someday.

of burned towers and rainbow dreams. ━━ yjh x ksy
Tumblr media
part two of the svt x pokemon!au  ━━ johto.
❀ summary: soonyoung and jeonghan ventured to the burned tower in ecruteak city, only to find something waiting for their arrival. ❀ pairing: jeonghan x hoshi (brotp) ❀ word count: 8k (I OVERDID MYSELF I KNOW I’M SORRY) ❀ genre(s): adventure, friendship, action, slice of life ❀ warning(s): pokémon battle violence at the beginning and the end of the fic. mentions of fire accidents.
━━ a/n: i had so much fun writing this part, it only took me around three or four days, i guess? i wrote the last battle scene without much planning, letting the whole scene play in my head as i wrote it down. it was, undoubtedly, the most fun i’ve had ever since i started writing (probably because it’s two of my biases in one fic but who knows). ALSO PLS FORGIVE ME FOR OVERDOING MYSELF i literally could not find ways to shorten the story without skipping details. anyways, i hope you guys will like this part too!
Tumblr media
soonyoung remembered feeling the soft wind blew across his face as he sat down under a tree, shading himself under the harsh sunlight shining down upon him.
his pokémon — scyther, mareep, and wynaut — were playing around, running around here and there, enjoying the sunlight. soonyoung looked to the sky ahead. he was at his home — in his backyard, a tree stood tall. it was a mahogany tree — for he was from mahogany town.
a rainbow suddenly appeared on the sky — was it raining earlier? soonyoung didn’t remember. however, something bright flying across the sky caught his eye.
it had the shape of a bird — a gigantic bird, to be exact. wherever it flew, a trail of rainbow sparks trailed behind it. soonyoung couldn’t describe the bird except for the fact that it was gold. it headed towards a tower covered in orange flames, and soonyoung immediately knew what tower it was. it was weird though — the original incident had happened more than a hundred years ago, so why was soonyoung seeing it with his own two eyes?
it was the infamous burned tower, formerly called the brass tower, located right at the neighboring city, ecruteak city. even though the tower was in flames, the bird just flew towards it without hesitation. smoke rose to the air, covering the silhouette of the bird. soonyoung longed for the smoke to quickly clear up, but when it did, the bird disappeared along with it.
no! soonyoung wanted to shout, but nothing came out. he tried standing up, but he fell back down to the ground, and the world turned black.
when he opened his eyes in surprise, he realized it was just a dream.
Tumblr media
four years later.
“gengar, shadow ball!” soonyoung’s eyebrows furrowed at morty’s command. he had to think of something fast, or scizor was going to run out of hp soon.
“scizor, dodge and use flash cannon!” the pincer pokémon cried in response, before moving his wings to his will, flying to dodge the incoming purple orb of shadow, making it hit the wall instead. scizor growled, gathering light in between his pincers (causing the originally dark room to go darker), and threw the ball of light towards the shadow pokémon. it hit gengar before morty could shout an order, the shadow pokémon falling face forward to the ground.
“nice!” soonyoung could hear his friend and mentor, jeonghan, cheer from the audience’s seat. jeonghan’s eevee, who was out of her ball, was yelping happily, running around jeonghan as she cheered scizor on.
he was currently in the middle of a pokémon battle — a pokémon gym battle, to be exact. this was his fourth gym battle, and winning this battle means he’s going to be halfway through his gym challenge. but morty, ecruteak city’s gym leader, wasn’t making himself an easy opponent, and soonyoung wished he had a ghost or a dark-type pokémon, because his team wasn’t exactly good at countering ghost-types. he managed to defeat morty’s earlier pokémon — gastly and haunter — thanks to ampharos and scizor, but ampharos was knocked out by haunter because she exhausted herself during her battle with gastly, and while scizor, soonyoung’s ace, was holding out well against gengar thanks to his steel typing (for gengar was part poison-type, and steel-types are immune against poison-type moves, but soonyoung only realized at the end of the battle that none of morty’s pokémon had any poison-type moves), scizor was nearing his limit, and soonyoung felt like he’s being pushed to the edge. he still has the chance to switch out to another pokémon. sure, scizor executed the flash cannon perfectly, but what’s he going to do next?
soonyoung’s eyes caught gengar lifting its body upwards, and realized he had to think fast, or the fog badge will not be his. he gritted his teeth. scizor was looking at him, waiting for a command. soonyoung’s hand flew to his belt, where six poké balls were perfectly aligned. he touched a particular one — one that was different than the other five, for, instead of your normal red and white poké ball, it was mostly black, with a red and gold stripe on the upper half of it. there was no other way besides this, he decided.
“scizor, u-turn!” scizor cried, digging the ground with his clawed feet, before pushing himself from the ground, his wings helping him take off from the ground. he flew towards gengar, who was already floating on the air now, before diving head first towards gengar.
“gengar, night shade!”
before scizor could make contact with gengar, the latter fired a crimson beam with purplish outlines from its eyes, the beam making its way to scizor. thanks to scizor’s speed, scizor could reach gengar first before the night shade could reach him. but when scizor finally made contact with gengar, the close proximity caused night shade to also hit scizor. both pokémon let out cries of pain — for even though both attacks were not very effective against the other, scizor’s hp was alarmingly low, whilst gengar’s hp was still half full.
thanks to the pressure of u-turn, gengar was knocked back down to the ground whilst scizor used the momentum to make a quick u-turn, returning back to his poké ball. soonyoung murmured his thanks before pushing the button of his luxury ball twice, releasing the pokémon confined inside it.
“wobbuffet, go!” from the poké ball, a tall, cyan pokémon, with four stubby legs emerged, solidifying, his flat arm bent towards his forehead, right above his scrunching eyes. he let out a cry before turning to look for soonyoung. as he managed to locate his owner, he wobbled towards him, arms on soonyoung’s waist, before turning to hide himself behind soonyoung. soonyoung chuckled. wobbuffet hated fights and battles, and soonyoung almost never wanted to send wobbuffet out for battles. but wobbuffet was, beyond expectations, a bulky fighter. among all his pokémon, wobbuffet was probably the only one with close to zero knockouts. then again, soonyoung could count with one hand the amount of times wobbuffet has been in battles.
“it’s okay, buddy,” soonyoung said, patting wobbuffet’s head soothingly. from across the battlefield, soonyoung could hear morty laugh. it’s okay, soonyoung thought, for not everyone knows wobbuffet’s potentials.
“i’ll get you your favorite ice cream later, okay,” said soonyoung. “and i promise, it’ll be a quick battle.”
he knew it’ll be quick, because it was wobbuffet battling. but he hated sending wobbuffet out, knowing how the patient pokémon disliked battling. that’s why he only uses wobbuffet when it urgently calls for it, and this was one of the times.
wobbuffet only nodded timidly, and soonyoung guided it back to his place on the field. gengar was snickering — a mock snicker, soonyoung guessed. it was a risky move — sending wobbuffet out, especially because against gengar's ghost typing, wobbuffet’s psychic typing was vulnerable.
“well,” morty said, “i guess it’s time for us to make our attack now.” gengar lifted himself to the air, thanks to its ability, levitate. “gengar, shadow ball!”
“wobbuffet, mirror coat!” the comical shock in morty’s eyes almost made soonyoung laugh out loud. no one, especially a gym leader — a ghost-type gym leader, in particular — should ever underestimate a wobbuffet.
the shadow pokémon was already forming a purple orb of dark energy in between its hands, and fired the orb at wobbuffet. soonyoung smirked as wobbuffet glowed beautifully — the glow resembling that of a reflecting mirror — and as the shadow ball came in contact with wobbuffet, instead of dealing damage to wobbuffet, wobbuffet’s mirror coat caught it, and reflected the orb towards gengar with two times the attack power. soonyoung’s eyes glanced over towards morty, who was so dumbfounded, he had absentmindedly shouted at gengar to attack with another shadow ball.
but before gengar could form another orb, the orb it had created earlier came whirling back towards it, hitting it square on its stomach, creating a small explosion as smoke engulfed the shadow pokémon. the damage dealt was doubled — and gengar’s hp meter lowered drastically until there was no hp left. as the smoke cleared, soonyoung could see gengar’s body on the field, finally knocked out.
“morty’s gengar is unable to battle. victory goes to challenger, kwon soonyoung!”
from the audience, soonyoung could hear jeonghan and eevee cheer — they were the only audience, after all. soonyoung didn’t realize he was panting hard until he fell down on his butt, legs giving out, but the adrenaline was still pumping in his veins. wobbuffet had wobbled over towards him, crying out in worry, placing his flat arm on soonyoung’s head, as if he’s trying to see if soonyoung’s head was still working or not. soonyoung laughed and hugged wobbuffet. wobbuffet was soft and squishy — he’s been soonyoung’s sleeping buddy since soonyoung was still a kid and wobbuffet was still a wynaut, after all.
“we did it, wobbuffet! we won because of you!” wobbuffet perked up at soonyoung’s words, and blushed. oh, the love soonyoung held for his pokémon. he’s gonna have to thank ampharos and scizor later on too.
“good job, kid.” soonyoung let go of wobbuffet to stand up and shake morty’s hands. wobbuffet was still holding onto his left hand, his stance wary. “i gotta admit, i was impatient to win,” said morty with a laugh. “should’ve gone for a hypnosis instead of a shadow ball. you were lucky, but you’re good, too. you have potentials.” soonyoung beamed at the gym leader’s words, bowing to express his thanks.
“this one here,” morty pointed to wobbuffet, “you did a good job choosing it as your final pokémon. i didn’t think it would be able to win against my gengar.” he nodded. “you did a good job raising it, kid.”
“wobbuffet’s been with me since we were kids,” said soonyoung, rubbing his sweat with his sleeve. “i know i can win battles with it easily, but it’s not a couragely pokémon.” he let out a soft laugh. “in fact, it hates battles. so i only use it when i desperately need to win.”
“i could see that,” said morty, moving a hand to pat wobbuffet’s head. the patient pokémon stiffened, not used to strangers touching his head. his grip on soonyoung’s hand tightened, and soonyoung squeezed it slightly. “it’s nice to know that i still could impose such a challenge on you that you had to use your hidden card to battle me.”
“yo, soonyoung, you did well!” soonyoung turned around to see jeonghan walking towards them, eevee pacing right next to him. eevee approached wobbuffet and cried happily — as if she’s praising wobbuffet for winning. wobbuffet visibly blushed. besides from soonyoung’s other pokémon, jeonghan’s eevee was the only pokémon whose companionship wobbuffet didn’t mind.
jeonghan stopped his steps to stand next to soonyoung, his head nodding towards morty in acknowledgement. “it’s nice to see you again, morty.”
“likewise, jeonghan,” said morty, smiling towards jeonghan. unlike hoshi, jeonghan was almost done with his challenge — only the blackthorn city gym challenge remaining. so it meant that jeonghan had challenged morty before, and had won against him.
“well,” morty clapped his hands, and as he separated them, a small purple pin appeared on his palms. “since you have defeated me, i have to give you your newest gym badge.” he passed the badge to soonyoung, who accepted it in awe. “congratulations on earning the fog badge!” soonyoung placed the fog badge in his badge case, and bowed at morty, thanking him earnestly.
“so, where are you headed after this? the cianwood city gym?” soonyoung shook his head.
“there’s somewhere else i have to go first here in ecruteak.” morty nodded in understanding.
“well, don’t let me hold the two of you back then. have a safe trip!” he said, and both soonyoung and jeonghan bid their goodbyes before heading out of the gym, wobbuffet’s hand still tightly holding soonyoung’s hand, and eevee strutting happily in between jeonghan and wobbuffet.
Tumblr media
the sun was slowly sinking down the horizon, the sky surrounding them turning gold. they were currently seated in a cafe, wobbuffet munching happily on his green tea ice cream, for ecruteak city was famous for their green tea. scizor and ampharos were both outside of their balls too — soonyoung was celebrating their victory, and instead of eating ice cream, soonyoung was eating a waffle instead. jeonghan was watching them amusedly, slowly nibbling on his pistachio ice cream that he bought for himself.
scizor had a chocolate ice cream on one of his pincer, and a green tea ice cream on another. he looked scared to crush both ice creams and get his pincers all sticky, so he gobbled them in two consecutive bites — causing him to have a brain freeze, his pincers holding his head to calm himself down.
ampharos, on the other hand, had a vanilla ice cream on one of her hands. she was licking on it happily, offering eevee a little bit of her ice cream. jeonghan had bought eevee a vanilla ice cream earlier, but she already finished it. since eevee eats two times the portion of a normal eevee, she happily accepted ampharos’s offer.
after years of being friends with soonyoung and observing, jeonghan could see how, between soonyoung’s team’s dynamics, ampharos was like the caring sister, whilst scizor was like the protective brother. jeonghan could also see how the two of them cared so much for wobbuffet, for the three of them had been together since they were still young, and since soonyoung was still very young too.
jeonghan had to admit, whilst soonyoung thought he was still way ahead of being a good pokémon trainer, to jeonghan he was already one. soonyoung didn’t see his pokémon as weapons of battle — he saw them as his friends, hence the reason wobbuffet was still in soonyoung’s team even though he hates battles. aside from that, if the three of them — scizor, ampharos, and wobbuffet — were to battle alongside each other, they would have executed perfect teamwork. while jeonghan was the better trainer skillswise, he was going to have to admit defeat to soonyoung’s teamwork with his pokémon. jeonghan could imagine how his crobat and houndoom would just attack each other instead of attacking the opponents were they to battle together.
“so,” jeonghan spoke up as he lowered his ice cream to give the rest to eevee, who hopped back towards jeonghan happily and munched on the ice cream, “where are you planning to go here at ecruteak?”
“the burned tower,” said soonyoung, still munching on his waffle happily. jeonghan’s eyes bulged out.
“you do know that’s not for entry, right?”
“that’s why we’re going to enter at night,” said soonyoung as he put the last of his waffle inside his mouth. “i need to go there — i feel like i saw a sign in my dream.” jeonghan raised an eyebrow. he’s never heard of this story before.
“what dream?”
“basically,” soonyoung wiped the crumbs off of his hands, “i think i saw ho-oh in my dream, and i think it’s telling me to come to the burned tower.” jeonghan’s eyebrows furrowed.
“the burned tower? but ho-oh resides at the bell tower, no?” soonyoung shrugged. next to them, scizor was whining — he may look like a scary pokémon, but once his pincers get dirty he’s back to a baby.
“well, true, but the tower i saw in my dreams was covered in flames. there’s no other tower besides the burned tower, right?” he said as he cleaned the table up, taking a wet tissue to wipe scizor’s pincers. ampharos stared at the tissue, before taking one to wipe wobbuffet’s green tea covered mouth. wobbuffet snuggled ampharos, which jeonghan figured was wobbuffet’s way of saying thank you. the sight of them made jeonghan’s heart flutter. they really do look like family.
“besides,” soonyoung continued, “there’s a possibility that you might be able to train there, you know? eevee’s bound to evolve soon, too.” jeonghan’s gaze turned to eevee, who was still nibbling on jeonghan’s pistachio ice cream.
jeonghan caught eevee after finishing his olivine gym challenge — which means eevee hadn’t been with them for long, unlike jeonghan’s other pokémon, who had been with jeonghan for his entire journey (save for crobat, who jeonghan had saved as a zubat when he was still a young lad). jeonghan had pondered, of course, what to evolve eevee to — but eevee had shown no interest in evolving through the evolutionary stones, and if he wanted to evolve eevee to glaceon or leafeon he’s going to have to travel far away. that leaves only espeon, umbreon, and sylveon. and jeonghan didn’t want eevee to feel like she has no choice. if eevee doesn’t want to evolve, then so be it.
“fine,” jeonghan decided. “but let’s wait until it gets darker. we can’t have people find out we’re sneaking in the burned tower.”
soonyoung snickered. “that’s more like it.”
“but if anything happens, i’m not covering your four—badges ass.” soonyoung gaped at jeonghan, but jeonghan ignored him, wiping his table clean.
“that was mean.”
“you’re the one who wanted to go to the burned tower, knowing fully well the consequences!”
scizor only looked at the two trainers, letting out a small groan as he shook his head.
humans. such noisy creatures.

even though it was dark outside, the burned tower stood out magnificently against the bright moonlight.
it was dark, probably around ten or eleven in the evening. soonyoung and jeonghan, alongside soonyoung’s ampharos and jeonghan’s eevee, were walking around the complex of the burned tower.
the burned tower was shaped like a pagoda, previously built out of golden brass with gleaming golden panels, in contrast to bell tower’s silvery panels. there were staircases that people would have to climb to before going inside. had it not burned, jeonghan was sure the three-story pagoda would’ve been the main attraction of the town. sadly, the only thing left from the previously golden tower was just the structure and ashes.
the four of them climbed the staircase silently, with jeonghan motioning to eevee to be quiet every so and then. on the entryway, instead of a golden door, a sign that said “dangerous: do not enter” was placed. soonyoung ignored the sign and motioned for the four of them to enter quietly. whilst jeonghan, ampharos, and eevee had managed to enter quietly, ironically, soonyoung had kicked his own foot onto a boulder, causing him to yelp in pain. jeonghan turned to glare at soonyoung, meanwhile ampharos hurried over to soonyoung in worry. after soonyoung assured ampharos it was fine, the four of them continued their way inside. soonyoung couldn’t believe that, four years later after his dream, he was finally inside the burned tower.
his happiness was cut short when a flock of zubat flew over towards them.
“ampharos, flash!” cried soonyoung, and a bright light shined from ampharos, lighting up the room that otherwise would’ve been dark, for even though the moonlight shone through the hollowed roof, it wasn’t enough light for them to recognize their surroundings. thanks to ampharos, they could now see that the floor beneath them was made out of wood — why was it not burned down, soonyoung didn’t know.
jeonghan’s hand went to his belt and he grabbed a poké ball, pressing the button twice before releasing the pokémon inside it.
“crobat, go!”
from the poké ball, a purple, bat—like pokémon emerged. he had a small, round body with two pair of wings — the upper pair slightly larger than the lower pair. the upper wings had two claw—like fingers near the middle. as he solidified, crobat’s face could finally be seen clearly — long pointed ears, yellow eyes with red pupils, and a small mouth that usually had his teeth bared. on the bottom of crobat’s body was a pair of stubby feet.
crobat flew in the air as soon as he was let out. he was capable of flying silently on the air — something they desperately needed right now. years of being with jeonghan had helped him recognize what jeonghan wanted without jeonghan having to give out commands. he flew over to the flock of zubat, and looked to jeonghan and soonyoung that he was communicating with them. the flock of zubat finally flew back to where they came from, clearly knowing that even though crobat was outnumbered, he would overpower them in a battle.
jeonghan held out his arm for crobat to perch on, and crobat flew back to jeonghan, descending on his arm. jeonghan used his other hand to rub crobat’s head as a way of saying thanks, and crobat purred in delight.
the five of them headed deeper into the tower. thanks to ampharos’s flash, they managed to avoid the huge pit that stood in the middle of the first floor. unlike the outside view, there were actually four floors — the upper three stories that could be seen from the outside, and an additional basement floor. jeonghan figured the pit was previously part of the first floor — the wood that burnt down in the fire making a huge hole, thus the pit came into existence.
“there,” whispered soonyoung, pointing towards the northeast corner. “there’s a staircase over there.”
due to the huge pit, and a boulder blocking their way to the right, they had no other way to go except to circle over the left side of the floor in one straight line, walking slowly, for one wrong step and the four of them could dive down to the basement (crobat would probably just fly away).
eevee was whimpering in fear, the atmosphere scaring her to bits. jeonghan bit his lip, pondering over before moving crobat to perch on his shoulder instead, and carried eevee on his arms. crobat didn’t seem to mind — both being on jeonghan’s shoulder and the dark, for the dark was crobat’s natural habitat, and being on jeonghan’s shoulder means he could nuzzle jeonghan’s cheeks whenever he wanted to.
they were halfway there when something jumped out of a boulder, causing ampharos, who was leading the way, to halt suddenly, her flash gone in a flash (no pun intended). soonyoung knocked into ampharos and fell to his knees, while jeonghan stumbled on his steps, his grip on eevee tightening in case the evolution pokémon fell. crobat fluttered its wings in surprise, and screeched at the intruder.
“why are you the one agitated, crobat? i should be the one agitated, you know.” the figure spoke in such a fancy manner, jeonghan raised his eyebrows, suspicious.
soonyoung was cursing as he stood up, grumbling at how his knees hurt, for it had scraped the pebbles. when he finally collected himself, he could see the figure in front of him clearly.
it was a man, probably around his late 20s, and he was wearing a purple suit with diamonds etched on it over a white buttoned shirt. on his neck was a red butterfly ribbon, and he was also wearing a white cape around him. he had light brown hair, a few strands in front of his eyes. he looked too comical to be taken seriously — like, who would even wear that to visit the burned tower?
“who are you?” asked soonyoung. ampharos’s orb that was attached on its tail beamed red — ampharos was on full guard. eevee was growling at him.
“i should be the one asking you that. the burned tower is not for entry, you know?”
“it isn’t, but you’re also here, so that makes all of us.” jeonghan pointed out. the man only sighed.
“my name is eusine, and im on the trail of the pokémon, suicune!” he said. “also, im here because my good friend morty, who, by the way, is ecruteak city’s gym leader,” he emphasized on the word gym leader, “gave me permission to come here as long as i come out alive. and what about you kids?” jeonghan rolled his eyes at the last word.
“well,” soonyoung spoke up, “we kids are only normal pokémon trainer who defeated your good friend morty slash ecruteak city’s gym leader.” jeonghan snickered at soonyoung’s words.
eusine tsked in annoyance. “such disrespectful kids. do you want to battle it out? i’m stronger than morty.”
“no thanks, we’re not planning to get stuck here or cause a commotion.” jeonghan said, but eusine didn’t budge from his spot.
“mr. eusine,” soonyoung said, gritting his teeth, “it’s night and we would want to get this over quickly and go back to our lodge to sleep, so will you please let us go on our way?”
“and let you guys meet suicune before i do? nope, absolutely no way.” jeonghan didn’t want to cause a ruckus, but this peculiar man was making it hard for them to do it. crobat had screeched in warning twice now — crobat would never screech unless it feels agitated, and right now, jeonghan was also feeling agitated.
“look, before we wake up all the other pokémon living here—” but before jeonghan could finish his words, a loud roar came from the basement. the three of them whipped their heads towards the pit, and eusine jumped up and down in delight, causing the wooden floor beneath them to start creaking. eevee yelped in surprise, whilst ampharos fell on her knees due to the violent shaking.
“it’s suicune, it’s suicune! it must know i’m here! i have to go down there, now!” eusine made no sign of noticing that the floor was shaking, and was so delighted that his immediate instinct was to run for the staircase, causing the wooden creaking floor to shake heavily once more. and before soonyoung could open his mouth to warn him, the floor underneath them crumbled, and all of them fell through a newly opened hole.
Tumblr media
jeonghan rolled to his side quickly in the air to cover eevee from the bits of wood that were raining down on them, which caused him to land on his side. he accidentally landed on a rock the size of a fist, and he let out a half-moan half-groan as he felt pain jolting from his rib. eevee yelped in surprise, squeezing herself out of jeonghan’s arms, poking jeonghan with her paw as she let out whimpers of worry. crobat managed to detach himself from jeonghan’s shoulder earlier, now flying in circles around their heads, before diving to jeonghan’s side, nudging his head on jeonghan’s head to make sure jeonghan was okay. there wasn’t much distance between the floors, thankfully, but there’s still enough to cause jeonghan incredible pain when he tried to sit up.
soonyoung, meanwhile, wasn’t so lucky. when he fell down, he somehow landed feet first, and it felt as if ampharos had fired a thunderbolt from the sole of his right foot. he managed to twist his left foot before it hit the ground, but the pain from his right foot was enough for him to squeeze out tears of pain. he tried to suppress the pain, crying out for ampharos instead.
“ampharos! ampharos, where are you?” soonyoung panickedly cried. his hand fumbled for his belt — almost crying in relief when he could feel all the other five still intact.
“crobat, go look for ampharos!” jeonghan cried, staggering to stand up. crobat shrieked in response before flying over, using his supersonic to detect ampharos’s location. when jeonghan did manage to stand up, he tried moving his feet. there were slight pain on his thighs, but otherwise he could walk almost perfectly well, his left leg limping slightly. he rushed over to soonyoung, whose face was covered in all the debris. jeonghan doubted he looked any better, to be honest.
“ampharos!” soonyoung was still crying out for ampharos, pressing both his palms on the ground, trying to lift himself up, but the pain on his legs stopped him from doing so. he wanted to cry. he can’t lose ampharos — he wouldn’t forgive himself if ampharos was nowhere to be found.
as if sensing their best friend was missing, scizor and wobbuffet came out of soonyoung’s poké ball unsummoned. wobbuffet wobbled towards soonyoung in worry, whilst scizor, after making sure wobbuffet went to soonyoung, immediately flew over to where crobat went. soonyoung didn’t realize he was sobbing until wobbuffet came to check for his injuries, his eyes scrunching in worry at the sight of his owner. soonyoung didn’t know what he was sobbing for — the pain or the thought of ampharos being gone.
when jeonghan finally reached soonyoung’s side, he was holding a first aid kit on his hand. he took a look at soonyoung’s legs — his right feet was covered in purple bruises, shaping a big lump on his ankle. jeonghan fumbled for his poké ball, calling out for the only pokémon with an ice-type move that he owned. he pressed the button twice, and a pokémon that resembled a duck emerged from the ball. it was round around the edges, with the main body being somewhat pinkish. it has a relatively flat bill and large round eyes. its legs were simple ovoid growths along its sides, and its tail widened towards the middle. its bill, legs, tail, and underside were all blue colored.
“porygon2, ice beam around soonyoung’s right ankle.” porygon2 squeaked in response, before a stream of ice shot from its bill, covering the bruise on soonyoung’s leg. soonyoung yelped in surprise at the sudden coldness, wincing a little bit, but signalled jeonghan that the pain was slowly numbing.
a few metres from them, crobat’s cry could be heard. the two of them turned towards the direction of the cry, and they could see crobat flying in the air right above scizor and ampharos — the former had his pincers around ampharos, helping ampharos walk. ampharos was limping on her right leg, but otherwise, she looked okay.
at the sight of both his pokémon, soonyoung sobbed in relief. the pain in his foot subsided a little bit, thanks to porygon2’s ice beam. jeonghan was busy wrapping soonyoung’s foot in bandage when crobat flew over and perched on jeonghan’s head, whilst ampharos and soonyoung had a tearful reunion, with soonyoung saying, “bless, bless.” over and over as ampharos bent over soonyoung’s body, hugging him.
after making sure soonyoung’s leg was wrapped tightly, jeonghan moved to spray potion over ampharos’s limping leg. ampharos winced in pain, but she seemed visibly better a few seconds later. jeonghan sighed and dropped down on the ground, wiping out beads of sweat off of his forehead. eevee climbed over to his lap and jeonghan pulled her over in a hug, trying to slow his beating heart down.
“speaking of which,” soonyoung suddenly spoke up, “where’s that eusine guy?” jeonghan looked up, frowning. he was too focused on getting everyone back together that he forgot the weird guy existed.
he signaled for crobat to look for eusine, and crobat looked annoyed, as if he didn’t want to go after him, which jeonghan could actually relate to. crobat had already flapped his wings, ready  to fly in search for eusine, when they heard another roar — identical to the first one they had heard — from behind jeonghan. soonyoung was looking over jeonghan’s shoulder, his jaw dropped. jeonghan whipped his head around as well, and gaped at the sight in front of him.
in front of them, three creatures were towering over them, and jeonghan immediately recognized them as the three legendary beasts — the beasts that had originally died in the fire, but had been resurrected back to life.
on the left side was a massive, leonine, quadrupedal pokémon covered in brown fur and a long, light gray cloud of smoke running along its entire back. it had gray plates on either side of the cloud and a plate beneath the cream belly fur on its chest. entei, jeonghan remembered its name. the volcano pokémon, representing the fire that had engulfed the tower they were currently in more than a hundred years ago.
on the right side was a quadrupedal, yellow, tiger—like pokémon with black stripes and a white underside. it had a thin, light blue tail with sharp angles and spark—shaped formation at the end. most of its face consisted of thick, white fur and shorter yellow fur around its red eyes, with a muzzle that’s shaped like a light blue "x". it also had a black faceplate with two bumps that covered its forehead, nose, and ears. raikou, the thunder pokémon, representing the thunderstorm that had happened on the night of the fire — the one that had caused the fire on the first place.
and on the middle was a slim, quadrupedal blue mammalian pokémon with white, diamond-shaped markings. its face and underside were white as well. it had a thick, purple mane that resembled the aurora borealis and two white, streamer-like tails that wave forward. it also had a large, hexagonal, cerulean blue crest on its forehead with two prongs on either side of the base. now that jeonghan could look at the pokémon at near proximity, he could understand why eusine the weird guy was so obsessed over the pokémon. it was the epitome of beautiful. suicune, jeonghan named it. the aurora pokémon, representing the downpour that had washed the fire away on the night of the fire.
if soonyoung hadn’t shouted at him to run, jeonghan would’ve probably gotten burnt by entei’s fire blast.
“hyung, run!” jeonghan jumped over to the side, landing on the same side as he did when he fell from the first floor. he groaned in pain, wincing as he tried to get back on his feet. eevee ran towards him, yelping in worry.
as entei’s fire blast hit the ground in front of soonyoung, soonyoung yelped in surprise, and wobbuffet — dear, lovable wobbuffet who would never fight battles willingly — stood in front of soonyoung, arms opened wide as if trying to shield soonyoung from any oncoming attacks. crobat was now flying on the air, waiting for a command, and whilst jeonghan knew eevee was scared, but she was in her battle stance, growling at anything that tried to attack jeonghan. jeonghan reached for his poké ball and recalled porygon2 back, before calling out another pokémon.
this time, a quadrupedal, canine pokémon that was mainly black in color came out of the poké ball. he had a long orange snout and an orange underbelly, along with small, red eyes and a black nose. around his neck was a white band with a small skull—shaped pendant on his throat. there were two white bands on each of its ankles, as well as three rib—like ridges on its back. he had a long, skinny tail with a triangular tip and three clawed toes on each paw. on top of his head was a pair of long, curved gray horns. as soon as he got out of his ball, he growled — he was half a meter shorter than the legendary beasts, but he showed no sign of fear at all.
“houndoom, i need you to get soonyoung on your back!” houndoom barked in response and pranced over to soonyoung, lowering his back for soonyoung to climb on it. soonyoung held onto it’s neck, and, with ampharos’s and scizor’s help, managed to climb onto houndoom’s back safely. scizor was using his wings to slightly levitate into the air, whilst ampharos was on alert mode — the orbs on her body all lit up.
the beasts, however, did not wait to give them any peace. not long after entei’s fire blast, raikou let out a roar, a gray cloud of storm forming right above their heads.
“crobat, get away from the cloud!” jeonghan cried just in time as a lightning struck from the cloud, and had it not been for crobat’s speed, he would definitely have fainted there. the lightning struck the ground, breaking a boulder into pieces in the process.
“ampharos, use thunderbolt on suicune!” soonyoung commanded from houndoom’s back. ampharos cried out, bolts of lightning covering her before they rushed towards suicune. suicune, however, only jumped to avoid the thunderbolt. soonyoung choked back a sob. sure, with all their pokémon combined, they have twelve, but what’s the point of it when their opponents were legendary pokémon? even worse, three of them?
on the other side, jeonghan was having no luck trying to fight against raikou — jeonghan was commanding eevee to use swift against raikou, but eevee alone wouldn’t do any damage against raikou. crobat was also hovering on top of raikou, trying to poison the thunder pokémon with his sludge bomb attacks, but to no avail — for no matter how fast crobat was, his opponent was, again, a legendary pokémon.
during soonyoung’s moment of pondering and figuring out a strategy, he had let his guard down for too long. entei had noticed and, at that moment, decided to strike them with another fire blast. houndoom opened his mouth, releasing a red-orange stream of fire — which soonyoung recognized as flamethrower — to fight against entei’s fire blast, but entei’s fire blast overpowered it as if it was nothing, and soonyoung could only watch helplessly as the fire came closer to them, bracing for the fire to engulf him like it engulfed the tower hundreds of years ago. jeonghan had shouted at houndoom to dodge the fire blast, but soonyoung knew houndoom couldn’t dodge fast enough.
just then, a blur of red flashed right in front of his eyes. before soonyoung could shout anything, scizor had stopped in front of soonyoung and houndoom, letting himself take the hit instead of soonyoung. soonyoung screamed. scizor was four times weak to fire, for arceus’s sake! without much thinking, soonyoung hopped down off of houndoom, gritting his teeth as the pain on his ankle shot up. he endured the pain, crawling his way towards scizor, fear clouding his mind more than the pain.
soonyoung heard houndoom bark in warning, trying to warn soonyoung for the upcoming attack. during the chaos, raikou had switched places with suicune. right now, jeonghan was dealing with the aurora pokémon, who proved to be distracting. jeonghan had cried for eevee to use shadow ball against it, but eevee’s shadow balls only ended up hitting the ground. thanks to crobat’s speed, he managed to land a sludge bomb to suicune — but the legendary pokémon recovered almost as quickly, as if crobat’s poison was nothing. jeonghan wanted to scream. it was unfair — how were they going to win?
from raikou’s storm cloud, another lightning bolt emerged, and houndoom wasn’t so lucky. it got zapped and fell to his side, his head thumped to the ground. soonyoung cried. scizor’s head was on his lap and houndoom was knocked out behind him, and raikou’s gaze was fixated on him. he felt a jolt of fear — he was going to die, he was going to die, and it was all because of his dream.
raikou opened his mouth, a yellow orb shaping in between its jaws — soonyoung recognized it as thunderbolt. soonyoung couldn’t run — he couldn’t even stand up. he tried to return scizor into his poké ball, but he couldn’t find his belt. it had fallen somewhere along the rubble of rock and pebbles, he realized. soonyoung gulped, bracing himself for the attack, when a bright blue light came in front of him.
wobbuffet had absorbed the thunderbolt attack with his mirror coat, and returned the thunderbolt towards the creator with double the power, but raikou only jumped to the side effortlessly. wobbuffet was panting hard, desperately low in health after absorbing that thunderbolt attack. to soonyoung’s right, ampharos was single handedly facing entei, but one flamethrower from the volcano pokémon immediately knocked ampharos down. soonyoung screamed. scizor, houndoom, ampharos — he couldn’t let wobbuffet get knocked out too!
“crobat, go and help soonyoung!” crobat shrieked and flew towards soonyoung — jeonghan hadn’t realized that they were literally half a kilometre apart now. however, before crobat could reach soonyoung, raikou roared. a lightning bolt from his storm cloud blasted, and this time, crobat wasn’t fast enough to dodge. crobat dropped down to the ground, and jeonghan cried for crobat’s name.
we’re not gonna make it out of here alive, jeonghan thought, choking back a sob. wobbuffet was still shielding soonyoung, who still wasn’t able to stand up, no matter how hard he was trying, the pain in his ankle was hindering him. jeonghan’s hand flew to his belt — and only then did he realize it was gone, probably got detached when jeonghan had flown to avoid entei’s first fire blast.
noticing that jeonghan’s guard was down, suicune took it as a good chance to attack — an aurora beam right towards jeonghan. jeonghan fell on his butt on the ground in shock, and instinctively squeezed his eyes shut. during the good couple of seconds, he tried to apologize to his parents and to everyone he had done wrong during his life. instead of the freezing cold ice, however, eevee’s cry snapped his eyes open.
however, eevee was nowhere to be seen — instead, a glowing blue light in the shape of eevee stood in front of him. jeonghan gaped, and at that moment, all the legendary beasts’ attention turned towards the blue light in front of him.
eevee’s fluffy body shrinked, and her fluffy feet lost its fluff, turning slender instead. it’s bushy tail slimmed down too, and when the light vanished, jeonghan couldn’t help but stare in amazement. instead of eevee’s brown fur, she was black with yellow rings around her ears and tail, and each on her feet. instead of brown eyes, her eyes were red — and jeonghan could see how she resembled the shining moonlight, for she had evolved into umbreon, the moonlight pokémon.
umbreon growled at suicune, opening her mouth to form a light purple orb surrounded in black and purple circles, before firing the beam of black and purple circles from the orb inside her mouth. suicune had elegantly dodged it, sadly, but, to jeonghan’s surprise, the aurora pokémon did not attack back, watching the two of them intently instead.
jeonghan stole a glance towards soonyoung — he was still hugging scizor’s head on his lap, wobbuffet in front of him, body shaking in fear but not backing down. raikou and entei, however, weren’t attacking soonyoung either. the three beasts looked at each other — as if they were communicating to each other — and then entei jumped towards the hollowed roof, before disappearing into the night. raikou followed suit, until it was only suicune left with them.
umbreon was still growling at suicune, and jeonghan took it as an opportunity to stand back up. when he did, however, suicune only ignored them and went to approach soonyoung, leaping gracefully once towards him. jeonghan, alarmed, ran towards soonyoung in fear.
suicune, however, unlike earlier, was gentle. as he walked closer towards soonyoung, soonyoung shivered — for some reason, wind was blowing towards him. wobbuffet was still shaking, but suicune did not attack wobbuffet. it gently nudged it’s snout on soonyoung’s palm, and soonyoung felt something on his palm — something soft, like a feather?
you. soonyoung jolted in surprise and turned towards suicune. was it speaking in telepathy with him?
our master has been keeping an eye on you since you were young, suicune said. at the corner of soonyoung’s eyes, jeonghan stopped in his steps. so jeonghan could hear suicune too, soonyoung deduced.
he had tried to summon you here once, in your dreams. when you come, our master had told us to test you. and you and your friend have proven yourself worthy — for eevee would not have evolved into umbreon if not, and your pokémon would not have risked their lives to protect you if not. soonyoung gaped, and his grip on the item suicune had pushed into his hand tightened.
when you are ready, come face my master. he will be waiting at the other tower. suicune nodded once, before jumping towards the sky, disappearing into the night alongside its brothers, its tail leaving a trail of northern lights behind.
when suicune disappeared, soonyoung opened his hand. in it was a rainbow-colored feather — soonyoung recognized the color, for it was the color of the bird he had seen in his dream.
so it’s true. the bird pokémon he saw in his dream four years ago was the legendary rainbow pokémon, ho-oh.
Tumblr media
due to the ruckus they caused, several people were forcibly awaken, and they had reported to morty. the two of them were rescued by morty and his gengar, and immediately rushed to ecruteak city’s pokémon center — along with eusine, who had woken up as soon as morty arrived.
eusine was groaning and whining, mad at himself for losing consciousness when suicune was so close to him. morty had berated him for jumping up and down on the vulnerable wooden floor and apologized to jeonghan and soonyoung, once they were settled down in their room at the pokémon center. morty had let them go lightly with a warning to never go back to the burned tower unsupervised again, though, he had a hard time believing that the legendary beasts had appeared inside the tower. jeonghan and soonyoung had decided it would be better if they told no one about what suicune had told them.
all their pokémon were, thankfully, alright. as soon as they reached the pokémon center, they were brought to nurse joy, who had recovered them from their injuries. in no time, crobat was perched on jeonghan’s head again, and umbreon was in his arms, purring in delight as jeonghan ran his hands through her body. jeonghan was on the right bed, whilst snuggled inside the covers of the left bed was soonyoung, whose right leg was covered in gyps. wobbuffet was snuggled to soonyoung’s left side, whilst scizor had his head on soonyoung’s lap, and ampharos’s head was on soonyoung’s right shoulder. the sight of them made jeonghan’s heart warm. so it wasn’t only jeonghan who was touched by their friendship — even ho-oh had approved of their friendship, that it decided soonyoung was worthy enough to face it.
“so,” jeonghan spoke up, “are you going to face ho-oh?”
“with crutches? no thanks. if ho-oh really decided on me, the least i could do is go there wearing a suit,” said soonyoung, scrunching his nose. jeonghan laughed at the younger boy.
“and not now, not when i still have a long way to go,” murmured soonyoung. “but when i’m ready, like suicune said, i’ll go there and face him. and hopefully catch him. wouldn’t it be cool if i have ho-oh in my team?” jeonghan made a face at soonyoung before throwing a pillow at him, telling him to keep on dreaming. however, scizor had caught the pillow in his pincers, causing the pillow to burst into a cloud of fluff in his sharp metal pincers.
“hey!” jeonghan cried, but scizor only buzzed in return. crobat defended his owner, screeching back at scizor. the room was covered in fluff, but soonyoung only laughed, and smiled at the sight.
the future ahead of him was scary, and he felt the burden of being ho-oh’s chosen one. but soonyoung knew he wasn’t alone. he has his pokémon by his side. he has his best friend jeonghan by his side. and when the time to face ho-oh comes, soonyoung knew he wasn’t going to be alone. soonyoung would have them by his side, battling alongside him.
soonyoung smiled and stroked on the rainbow feather. he thought about how lucky he was to have them by his side.
for there was magic that had brought them together, and that magic is called hope.

The part where you get basic info on my Pokémon oc's so you don't get confused when I post about them.
This is gonna be a long post. I have like 8 total. 16 if your counting the secondary protags (my version of May and Lucas for example, which I won't be going over in detail cause I'm not insane). Might want to check my timeline 9 it's pinned or just check bulbapedia if your confused about the ages. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Name :Jin Amachi
Gender: " I am nonbinary. I they/ them pronouns, but I'm alright with he/ him as well.
Age:
12( when started journey in Hoenn( Emerald)
22 by SM/USUSM
26 by SWSH
Basic info: With all things said and done, Jin is grateful for their journey. They learned a lot, even if they had to stop two extreme environmentalist along the way. They know the two meant well, but it's just too bizarre for it to happen. Though the two seem to be in a better place now. They're happy for them. They're father and them talk more now. It's still awkward, but better. They know he's trying his best, and they will do the same. It's much better than back then. But no need to worry about the past.
If anything, they're more worried about the others.
Tumblr media
Kenji Elm
Gender: " I'm getting sudden dejavu. But I'm a boy! The best boy! Don't call me a girl, I will cry. And because I'm not one! So don't. Anyway have you heard of-" * starts to ramble*
Age:
10 when journey started in Johto( HGSS)
17 by SM
21 by SWSH
Basic Info: Kenji Elm is not the biological son of Professor Elm. He was adopted at a young age, and he doesn't know who is birth parents. Not that he cares. He's more than happy with the family he got( though he wonders when they'll throw him away like his parents did). Energetic and always willing for an adventure, Kenji is generally on the move!( He's so sorry if he's being annoying please don't leave please)
He has a vast amount of interests, but his two favorites are painting and battling. Battling is obvious, he's the champion of the Indigo League, but he always had an artistic eye. But his favorite pastime is hanging out with his friends! When he gets the time of course. He's sometimes wonder how he was able to hold the title of champion for so long though haha ( his win was a fluke he knows it he knows it) .But yeah! That's Kenji! Always there with a smile! Our little golden boy! 😁
Tumblr media
Name: Danica Yamamoto
Gender: "I'm a girl. She/her pronouns. They/ them is cool too. Don't mind Kenji, he talks a lot." *Offended Kenji noises in the background*
Age:
11 when journey started in Sinnoh( Platinum)
18 by SM)
22 by SWSH
Basic Info: Giratina and Arcues are quite alike, the more she thinks about it. Though, the rest if Sinnoh, quite possibly the whole world would disagree with her. Giratina is " the lord of darkness". It's followers have a history of not being....the best. Giratina resides alone in the Distortion World, paying for it's past sins. Clearly, Giratina and Arcues are nothing alike.
Hm? Oh. Right. Pardon.
Danica grew up in Twinleaf town, with her best friend Barry. Those two are almost polar opposites. Barry is always moving, going fast, and doesn't wait for no one( except Danica and Emmet). Danica can go fast, possibly faster than Barry, but likes to take things slow. Both can be quite chaotic.Barry has a bit of a temper, Danica's chill. Both are cases where you should run when they are angry. Like. Very angry. The two bounces of each other well, and hang out regularly with Emmet, even with their busy professions ( Danica as champion, Barry as Frontier Brain and Emmet as a professor). Danica loves baking, and would often be making poffins and other baked treats for her, her pokemon and others ! She's also a bit of a nerd, so you'll also find her in a library or two. Her pokemon are her babies, and she hopes to have plenty of battles with them in the future!
.....
But really. They are quite alike. Both are beings of great power. Both have a following, even if one is less seen. Both are feared. They are feared greatly. Do they fear each other? Did Arcues banish Giratina in fear of the world or in fear of losing control? Did Giratina learn it's lesson after eons of being in the Distortion World? She could never tell. It doesn't really open up much, only going back to said Distortion World on its own Accord( it felt wrong to be it's "owner"). Though it do comes back, surprisingly. Maybe because she asked it to. To make sure Cyrus doesn't die in there. He still won't come out. She doesn't understand why. It's been years. Has he learned his lesson? Giratina seems to be fond of him. Affectionate. Cyrus never objects to this. So he must right? Right?
Ah, getting off topic. They're quite alike, being feared by the masses. Even if Arcues is mostly beloved. It's a god. It has such power. They're both feared. They themselves must fear as well . It must get lonely....... She thinks she gets Cyrus now.
Tumblr media
Name: Alexis " Alex" Jones
Gender: " Um, hi? I'm just a dude. Use he/ him pronouns.....yeah"
Age:
14 when journey started in Unova( BW)
18 by SM
22 by SWSH
Basic info: It's so funny, the more he thinks about. He was so excited, despite his worries. He was going on a journey. A gym challenge. Pathway to champion. He was going to do that! With his sister and his friends! On his birthday! It was perfect! It should have been perfect! But everything just went wrong.
The bodies, the blood, the pressure to " be a hero"( intentional or not), it was all too much. Too much. Then- then he was a coward. He fled it all. Even after saving the day. It was stupid. So stupid. And the people in his life had a right to be angry. Why wouldn't they? He deserved it, really. But now things are better(?). He has a daycare to co-run, he's gradually learning his way as a pokemon medic, and he still has his pokemon( the ones that were lucky enough to survive). He's so grateful for them. He doesn't battle, though. No, he's never doing that ever again. He's caused enough harm( he hates how he stares at trainers battling). He's no good anyway( he hates how bored his team looks half the time) . He doesn't understand why people insist that he is( he hates that he has this itch, this desire). He doesn't understand why they look so disappointed when he says he doesn't battle anymore( he hates that he misses the rush, the strategy, the freedom of it all). He's fine with what he got. He's no hero.
.....Why is his aunt calling him?
Tumblr media
Name: Evangeline " Eva" Ortiz
Gender: " Hiya! I'm a lovely lady! I use she/her pronouns, please and thank you!"
Age:
14 when journey started ( B2W2)
16 by SM
20 by SwSh
Basic Info: Eva! Eva my Beloved. Eva's fun, y'know? Always moving, helping, laughing, smiling. Life of the party! She rivals Kenji with that winning smile. Not to mention that she's a great battler! It's almost like she was born for this. Maybe she is! Who knows. But what she do know is that she's Unova's Champ and she gotta defend her title! And protect her region! Though she probably would have done that without the title anyway haha! Hmm what else? Oh! She loves technology! For some reason that surprises a lot of people that don't really know her, but she does! She's a bit of a tinkerer if she do say so herself. She likes it when people compliment on her skills it makes her more confident in them. Even Col-
No.
....
Ahem.
Anyway she's pretty talented. But that comes from a lot of hard work! And luck. But lots of hard work.( And also luck). Aaaah, that should that's it? Well, she does tend to be distant, b-but she's busy, yeah? Don't worry about it. Oh! One more thing. It's not really a big deal, just a random fact.
She hates the cold.
Tumblr media
Name Jude Bellrose
Gender: "...... Why do you care ?" ( E: Jude don't be rude! Al: No no, she has a point.) *Ooc: Jude is genderfluid. Right now, in this post, she's using she/ her pronouns, but she also uses he/him and they/them*
Age:
18 when journey started in Kalos( XY)
20 by SM
24 by SwSh
Basic info: Death has a way of teaching you things. Jude learned a lot from it. She learns to not take it for granted, both death itself and the one that is dead. She learns to be humble. She learns to be kind.
Jude was, and still is, prickly. She's not rude my any means, unless she is, but she's just hard to become friends with. She used to have this philosophy of trainer and pokemon; they should be no emotional bonds. They're not here for that. They're here to win. And she did. Until she didn't. Her first pokemon died. It devastated her. Her pokemon, surprisingly, comforted her. And then another one died, and her pokemon comforted her again. Star, her Staraptor, was strong. So strong, and yet it died, and she cried and get pokemon cried with her. She never felt so loved. Not saying that her mother doesn't love her, the opposite really, it's just things have been....complicated. Couple that with strangers turn( begrudgingly) friends, and Jude's heart turned all warm inside. Not that she'll ever admit that outloud.
Jude is a kind person, despite her prickly nature. She loves the world around her, loves her friends, loves her pokemon. She respects death, despite the pain she causes her. The world itself of beautiful as it is, which it's such a shame that a capitalist fool a certain someone couldn't see that way( poor Sycamore).
Jude is a good trainer, despite her loss. She knows this. She'll prove it too the moon and back. If only a certain someone thought the same for himself.
Tumblr media
Aster Mahina
Gender: "...." "Mizzz Aster is a girl! She uses she/her pronouns! Zzt."
Age:
11 in SM, where her journey started
15 by SwSh
Basic Bio: Aster doesn't hate Kanto. She doesn't. She was born there and lived there for 11 years. She just doesn't want to back. But she has to, cause she's " the first champion of Alola and as champion" yada yada yada. Like. She gets it. Being Alola's first and currently only champion, you gotta make an impression. She gets that. She still doesn't want to go. Even when she's been there, like, 4 times now. There are some good things in Kanto though. Lillie is there. And seeing Lillie physically is always a plus. She also gets to see Uncle Red, Uncle Green, and Aunt Blue. Kenji, while not living in Kanto, is champion of the Indigo League, and it's always fun with Kenji( she loves his art). But. Like. She still doesn't want to go.
But she also likes being Champion. That means she's strong. And since she's strong she can protect her mom. But she can't protect her mom when she's all the way in Kanto! What if he comes back? What if goes to Alola when she's away? She knows that her mom is strong, she knows that but still!
No. No it's okay. Her mom is strong. Lillie is strong. Gladion is strong . Hau is strong. Guzma is strong. They're all strong. She's strong.
She is strong.
Tumblr media
Name: Naomi Einar
Gender: "I-I'm a girl! She/her pronouns please!"
Age:
15 in SWSH, which is the start of her gym challenge in Galar!
Basic Info: Hop is pretty convincing, she realizes. Or maybe she's very weak willed. " Let's do the gym challenge together!" He said. He had that look in his eye. She couldn't say no. Or she could, but that would make him upset, and that's the last thing she wants.
If she's being honest with herself, she's scared. She doesn't like big crowds, the attention. They'll be so many eyes on her. So many. A-and then there's Lee and her cousin, Alexis. Hop has made her sit down and watch almost every single match Leon has had. He's an amazing trainer. A-and her mum would tell her stories about Alexis. He was a hero! He stopped an evil team and everything! She can't live up to that! She never even battled before, why would Hop-
No. It's okay. It's okay. She- she'll just quite after failing the first gym. She can handle the embarrassment. And then she'll cheer Hop on when he wins against his brother. Yep. She'll do just that. Okay. Okay.
.....
Everyday, Slumbering Weald seem to intrigue her more and more. It's almost like it's calling her. Da?
No. It- it'sprobably nothing.

Requested by anon- Germany anon?  I’ve written based on your full request, but I accidentally deleted the ask (my bad). I hope I haven’t missed out on any important details, lmk if you want me to write more! I’m sorry to hear you aren’t doing so well; for anyone who wants a synopsis, essentially  hurt/comfort, mentions of emotional abuse, mentions of alcoholism. Also anon if you need anyone to talk to or spill tea to hit me up!! rant in my ask box or dm me or anything my dude i’m here for ya.
It’s late at night, and he’s frustrated. In the back of his mind, he is aware of his own power, and proud of his unrelenting determination to defeat Leon, but tonight is just one of the rougher nights.
He doesn’t usually indulge himself this way, but it’s late, and there are relatively lesser chances of him being seen, so he hops on Flygon for a midnight flight. He instantly knows what a good idea it was- the cold night air feels like a wake up slap, snapping him out of his self-pity.
He’s the great Raihan, he tells himself as a smirk creeps up on his face.
But who is that?
Flygon circles the roof of the vault, and even from a distance, he can make out a small figure sitting there, dangerously close to the unguarded edge.
You watch the figure atop the flying Pokemon with vague interest. They are blocking part of your view of the stars, but right now, you can’t bring yourself to care.
The Pokemon circles the roof, and begins its descent. You turn your neck as far back as you can to see it land away from you, and a large man jumps off of it.
“You’re not supposed to be up here, you know,” he says, tilting his head.
“Are you?” you respond.
He laughs as he approaches you.
“I’m special,” he says, and as he comes closer you can see his cerulean eyes twinkling. “You’re far too near the edge, scoot back a bit, will you? You could fall.”
 You shrug.
“Don’t care if I do,” you say, and it’s then he notices the slight slur in your speech, and the bottle beside you.
“Well, I care,” he speaks, more cautiously this time. He’s practically at your side now, and he takes care to slowly sit down beside you, not wanting to startle or frighten you. Flygon is sufficiently close by for him to know that if you fall, he’ll swoop in and pick you up.
“Something bothering you?” he tries again. Now that he’s gotten a closer look at you, he sees the exhaustion in your face, and the leanness in your body.
“Jus’. Jus’ feel like shit,” you say, a sigh escaping you.
“Yeah, I get that,” Raihan blurts out, inadvertently thinking back to the battle earlier today.
“Mhm? Why do you feel like shit?” you ask, leaning close to him. A bit too close, but he’s pretty sure you’re too buzzed to notice the proximity.
“Ah, I have this rival,” he shrugs. “He’s...a very admirable man, you know? I need to surpass him, I need all my work to pay off, I need to prove that legends are made, not born. But it isn’t that easy. Sometimes...sometimes I almost want to quit.” Raihan isn’t quite sure why he just blurted all that out, but he’s acutely aware of how good it feels to get it off his chest- to a stranger, of all people.
“Anyway, I told you mine, why don’t you tell me yours?” he says.
And you do.
You tell this strange, tall man how awful you feel in Galar, where you’re new and alone and nobody speaks your native language. You tell him how tired you are, you tell him how the alcohol weighs you down but it’s the only thing keeping you grounded.
You don’t know who he is, and somehow, that makes it easier for him to talk to you.
He tells you about his rival, he tells you about his dreams. He tells you how awful it feels to taste defeat time after time after time again. He tells you how hard it can be to keep his spirits up, and how confusing it is to wonder what he’s doing wrong.
You tell him about your family, and how they don’t understand. He listens, he talks, you listen, you talk, your hand is in his, just two strangers finding solace in each other- misery sure loves company.
When you wake up the next morning in your bed, you almost think he was a dream, until you see a text message from him. From then onwards, you have a friend. You learn more about Raihan, he learns more about you. You spend nights on the vault roof, and he nudges drinks away from you when he thinks you’ve had too much. One night, you tell him you adore him, and no short-ass champion is going to keep getting the better of him. He laughs at that, tells you how much he respects that “short-ass” champion.
Another night, he tells you he’s in love with your late night rooftop talks. You reach for his hand and tell him you're grateful for his friendship. Yet another night, you arrive sobbing and continue to cry into his arms as he holds you tight, and he tells you that losing is a part of winning the battle, and you’re not sure what he means but it helps. And yet another night, he tells you he’s falling in love with you, and you kiss and you laugh and cuddle into his hoodie as you make hushed mock-plans about running away to Johto, and you know that as long as you have him, you’ll be okay.

Note
ok go ahead chief, talk to us about /that/ one verse 👀
OH SHIT BERRY YES I’LL TELL YOU BUT FIRST I GOTTA
Tumblr media
A—
Because holy shit I’ve been dying for someone to ask but at the same time I’m like holy shit no Chief shut up this is self-indulgent BUT.
AA—
Okay, ok we good. SO first off let’s just say Pokémon timelines are even more confusing than Zelda timelines so I’m not even gonna dip my toes into looking what happens first/etc. ALSO SECOND THIS MIGHT END UP BEING A LONG-ASS WORD-VOMIT ALL OVER DASH BUT LET’S FUCKING GO.
SO. ROCKET, RIGHT.
We know what happened between Jay and them. But we also know that Jay is just One Dude. When Aqua was disbanded (read: when Jay fled Hoenn because shit hit the fan and he didn’t want to get caught in the crossfire), Jay returned to his hometown of Goldenrod city, Johto, which is also one of Rocket’s main playgrounds. And while he’s just One Dude, he has other friends that are also fed up with the Big Red R and how it’s got fingers in nearly every pie. Corrupt judges, public servants, cops and TV providers, to name only a few, are a few of the things that makes that one crime syndicate so untouchable. And that’s where a few fed up people decided to hit first. Personal information and receipts were released to the public. Acts of vandalism were performed. Everything to start getting a rise out of the greater Johtonese population.
At first, it was a nameless movement. Just people deciding to take action, without much direction. Rallies, walks, unorganized action. Sure, it’s good to see people getting together to try and change things, but it needed... More.
Now, Jay is not a public person by any means, but he actually spoke up at one of those smaller rallies, and sharing part of his experience and views touched something within the crowd. Sure, from the beginning of this, he was just another anonymous rioter wearing a mask to hide his identity, but slowly, people started looking up to him, to the point where a group actually took form and named itself, and him too. Jay picked neither names, ‘Wildfire’ and ‘Fox’ being something that spread on its own after being thrown around a few times. And it’s at that moment that it started to gain traction.
Being thrust at the forefront of the movement, Jay and a few trusted friends had to start giving shape to it. Wildfire, unlike the ‘teams’ you meet in the Pokémon world, is not an overly organized movement. People who joined it come from all walks of life, and there’s no uniform, no membership, no pay and no secret base. Every single call to rally is a text message sent through a burner phone, within a few minutes to a couple of hours from the event. Everything is made so it is unpredictable and hard to track. It’s a group that’s scattered and hidden in plain sight, a group of ruffians, misfits, activists, anarchists, dreamers, vigilantes and people hungry for justice and revolution, ready to fight the power. Stirring trouble, encouraging civilians not to let Rocket get their way, giving the means of self-defense back to the people who felt wronged by the criminal syndicate that infiltrated the various power structures in Johto and Kanto. Graffiti, hacking, arson, theft, damage to property, releasing classified information to the media, even assault sometimes, but no casualties caused by them, no innocent harmed by them. Exposing people, dragging them out into the public eye. Everything to give Rocket a hard time and retake what belongs to the people — going as far as to admit that if they have to, they’re ready to actually topple more than just a criminal syndicate to get rid of it. Even if there has to be a stock market crash or if the socio-economic climate has to change.
With something this big, Jay has to keep his identity hidden for sure. Fox is an entirely different entity: it’s a symbol that people rally under. The Arsonist that lit the Wildfire, someone even say. Something that big is intimidating, and he makes sure that his identity is entirely secret and protected. Only a few people know of it, one of them even being some kind of Second Fox to make sure that Jay himself has alibies and can be seen somewhere while Fox is somewhere else.
In this verse, the fight takes place not only in Goldenrod city, but in Johto and Kanto. The climate is especially tense in Goldenrod city, where people know the movement originated, but the point of being scattered and mostly anonymous is that it can hit anywhere at the same time. And at some point, three-four-ish years down the road, because things like that need time to gain traction and enough manpower, and it takes time to clean trash out of some systems, the fight will be taken to a higher level. Because you can’t kill a hydra unless you go for the whole body—cutting off the heads is just a way of stalling for time.
And does Jay live for it? On one side, yes, he’s feeling like he’s accomplishing what he was always meant to do. On the other hand? Holy shit dude that’s some STRESS, he needs a break, he wants a break, can this be over please? Because we’re not excluding the thought that while Wildfire does its best not to cause casualties, Rocket doesn’t tend to have these principles.
GOD I SKIMMED OVER A LOT BUT THAT’S BASICALLY THE BIG BRAIN STUFF I’M DYING TO RP MORE OF AAAA—

I may have spent the last 5 hours researching Beta Pokemon and pre release demos or leaks from gen 1 to gen 8
Here's some shit I've noticed
The further back you go, the more you're gonna find. There's far more confirmed available beta or cut material available for gens 1 through 4 than 5 through 8.
Game Freak is a bunch of bitches for cutting these pokemon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean come on. Skeleton monster. Flying fish. Warwolf. Actually terrifying wolf that could be the original legendary leader of the Johto beasts. A STORK POKEMON FROM GEN 2, THE GEN WHERE BABIES WERE MADE.
Granted some of these have been reworked into some later pokemon but still. I'd wager there's enough leftover from gen 1 and 2 to make at least half a dex.
There could've been huge domino effects that would impact the current games if certain things remained the same from the gen 2 betas.
Blue was Oak's assistant, Silver was your childhood friend like Blue or Barry, and Oak RELOCATED his lab to Silent Hill so he could study the new pokemon. What this could've meant was that instead of new professors, it could've been Oak just relocating, at least in MY theory.
Space World Beta starts out remarkably similar to RBY. Gold tries to leave through the grass, BLUE stops him, Gold and Silver pick a pokemon, both battle in the lab. That's about all I could find with game play and translations at the moment
However, Misty and Giovanni could e been in the E4. So much story could have changed if Giovanni was part of the Elite 4, because TR wouldn't necessarily need the radio tower to find him.
There are also sprites for an Oak IMPOSTER and data was supposedly found to say that Oak ran away (I have yet to find that myself but I have seen the sprites)
Something else to note is that all of this was before the big shift to the GBC style we know GSC to be in, using Yellow type graphics. It's highly possible from a guessing point that some or most of it had to be scrapped to make more up to date stuff.
Taking a step back to gen 1, Brock was almost the second gym leader. Wouldn't you know it, the Viridian Gym could've been the first gym, a flying one at that lead by a kid.
Red had a whip. Dunno how to feel about that
At some point instead of centers, the players would most likely stay at inns. There's a huge Sprite sheet showing towns with a few inns here and there and a remarkably different Kanto. Celadon was surrounded by water once!
Gen 3 is mostly stuff I already knew, like 28 planned islands for the Sevii Islands and the cave that was affected by mystery gift, but there are rumors of another pre release demo out there with more beta stuff. The only real thing of note I learned was that there were at least sprites made for The Johto Beasts, which make it likely that they could have been planned as stationary encounters at one point.
Also from gens 4 and 5, Masuda or whoever leaves little Do Re Me Fa So La Te Do using the in game instruments, presumably to test it.
I've yet to confirm the legitimacy of it since the sprites are so hard to come by, but its possible that gender differences were planned for ALL pokemon for gen 4 and onwards. Pikachu had floppier ears as a girl, Charizard had one horn, incidentally there were roughly 60 something done, none involving gen 4 as far as I know. However the legitimacy is questionable since the person responsible removed the sprites after some bullshit on 4chan. Also the sprite style is a bit... off, to me anyway.
Speaking of gen 4: there's a possibility that Jubilife City could've had a gym or a condo challenge of some kind
Oh, this bounced back to gen 2 but also involves 4 by remakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice a pattern? In the gen 2 early sprites, Gold was gonna have a thing on his hat, but someone scrapped that. In HGSS, the idea mustve been tried again, only to ALSO be scrapped. My friend speculated it to be so they wouldn't have to worry about adding that detail to smaller OW sprites.
Tumblr media
Also just look at the original. That's such a 90's hairstyle.
Back to gen 4: technically something I already knew and am STILL salty at Masuda for cutting, but the Azure Flute has more significance to it than I initially thought. For those that don't know, the Azure Flute would let you go to Spear Pillar, play it, and battle Arceus at level 80. Don't believe me? Grab an action replay or google it. The item is still in the coding but the item wasn't legally distributed because Masuda sucks and hasn't heard of Google or instructions.
Anyway, the significance of this is bigger than expected because the beginning note of the Azure Flute is the SAME as the sound byte that plays for the GF Logo. In addition, the Hall of Origin Music is nearly identical to the Press Start Screen.
Do you have any idea why that's so damn significant? From the moment you put the cartridge into your DS, you were foreshadowed a fight with GOD. Just... good lord that's amazing to me that I never made the connection. Its amazing just because, how creepy and is it that you know the music as it plays? From before your journey? For a fight with a location and music that screams ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE??? WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO FIGHT GOD? DO YOU WANT TO DIE???
Gen 5. Not too much here of note as of the moment, but something interesting: there's apparently a line of text that reads something along the lines of "the mission to save yourself has started." This comes from the Entree. Creepy as hell. I love it.
Hilda and Hilbert were planned at least at some point to be fightable in the PWT. They have lines that match each other and everything. Why was this cut? It's such a shame.
There was an unused theater house, my guess is most likely for musicals or possibly more movies like BW2
Gen 6: not a lot I don't already know tbh, but there's a difference in happy birthday music in the pokemon center in japan and international because of that one asshole company that had or has copyright to Happy fuckin Birthday.
Gen 7: here's some juicy shit: according to Ohmori, trials weren't really considered until the game had entered Debugging phase. There's even a cybernetic looking gym room. Going from this it is quite possible that Trials were added last minute and gyms were originally the initial go to. Tbh I'm kinda glad they did it, I'm not a fan of railroading but I do appreciate something different to break the 20 year monotony.
Gen 8: not a lot tbh. There's data for all pokemon in LGPE but trying to load them brings out Marowaks, and every pokemon has an ability, but it's sort of turned off.
SwSh:
There's unused music for Eternatus
Apparently Silvally could learn Grass Pledge, but not the other two.
Theres 2 unused trainer classes
That about wraps it up. The juicier shit comes from gen 2 imo simply because of the possibilities.
GF, please, add skeleton monster and pants hippo to a future game.
Btw most of my info comes from The Cutting Room Floor, which has a lot of info on this stuff. Some comes from googling and some from poketubers. Its interesting to look at.

What would you do for the next Pokémon region? What theme would the pseudo legendaries and legendaries be?
In terms of the actual region, I prefer fantasy lands to actual places (I'd rather explore Hyrule than NYC, you feel?) which also permits more diversity in location so there can be stuff like a desert area and a snowy area without it feeling forced. I'd also want caves to come back a bit. Places like the Ice Path in Johto allowed so much more exploration than locations like the Galar Mine which is just one path with an optional offshoot.
Honestly, I want a Breath of the Wild type of game where there is a lot more exploration and letting us approach the story how we want. Gyms would be hard to force in a more open-world game but in the past two generations they've been changing how gyms work so I think it's totally feasible to still incorporate that with badges acting as milestones to unlock stronger pokemon and areas. I still think having the region somewhat split up is a good idea, so maybe having different areas going further into the region, with three gyms per area, and you just have to beat one of them to go on but you're encouraged to beat all three so you're pokemon will on-par with the levels of the next region. This allows for a chance of a gym for each type which would give us 6 different levels of area, similar to Alola's four islands (I don't think I would want them to be islands though because the story requires more forest area than oceans). I think this works well because the first could be a classic Grass/Fire/Water trio, then maybe Electric/Ground/Flying as classic types to teach resistances, then Bug/Ghost/Poison to have a generally spooky vibe, then kick off the second half with the classic Fighting/Psychic/Dark trio, then Ice/Ground/Normal (partially because it's what is left and partially because by now you have typing figured out so a strong normal gym is a challenge) and the final one could be the stronger types with Dragon/Fairy/Steel.
In terms of the storyline, I love what Hoenn did with having two teams with contrasting views and depending on the game you chose you got to see different points of view. I want to try that again but have more nuanced arguments rather than Team Aqua and Magma's opinion on the size of the ocean. I think I'd want my two teams to be focused on Nature vs Society, where one team wants to exhaust the natural world's resources for industry and science while the other wants to push civilization back to make room for the return of forests and wild pokemon. This has definitely been done before so it isn't a new concept, but I think that it's something where arguing for the extremes can lead to disastrous consequences in either side. I'm talking Community Center vs Joja Mart but like to the max.
Playing off of that, Princess Mononoke is one of my two favorite movies and while I would love the forest spirit there to be the Nature legendary, I don't want it to be too similar to Xerneas. Instead, I think looking at the boar gods there is a good choice as they can show the wild strength of nature that I want. So the Nature legendary would be a Grass/Ground giant boar. Let's call it Boarture, even though that's not at all what it's name would be because that sounds too much like torture and I specifically want to stay away from making either of them evil, just dangerous. Still, Boarture works for now.
The Society legendary is harder. I don't want to minimize society to industry because that's harder to justify against nature. I still want industry to play a part, as well as scientific advancement but also history and art as important cultural cornerstones. There are a couple different type combos I like for this one, but my favorite is Fire/Steel, which isn't a type combo we've seen before and also pairs up human civilization really well with the myth of the first fire and cooking and shelter and stories which are all decidedly human traits and the steel incorporating technology and science. I think it would take on a more humanoid appearance while still being wisp-y, a body composed purely of a white fire fueled by ambition and hands of liquid steel that it shapes at will to demonstrate its creativity, while still being dangerous to embrace in entirety. Lets call it Muse.
It might be a lot, but I think I also want a separate legendary trio to accompany them both. With Boarture I think you should have to make a case to three disciples before you get to confront Boarture itself. Each of them composes an aspect of the natural world. I like the idea of them being bugs because there aren't enough strong bug types. One of them is Flying/Bug and it helps herald in storms, another is Rock/Bug and it presides over the desert, and the third is Water/Bug and it protects the rivers and streams throughout the region. For Muse's, I like the idea of them all being Fairies because fairy tales are a human creation, and each of them having to do with humanity and society. One would be Ghost/Fairy and presides ovrr stories and history, another would be Electric/Fairy and would be immersed in technology (like a non-tricky Rotom), and the third would be Psychic/Fairy and would deal with identity and the concept of the Self. I don't like the idea of Pokemon being version exclusive, as somebody who didn't have friends to play with growing up, so I think 3 would be plot relevant, but after the game is complete you can potentially go through a second quest to fight the second box legendary and with it in the party you could find the other 3.
Idk what I would do for pseudo legendaries tbh. I've always wanted a Fire/Grass forest fire pokemon so that would be there. I also want a Poison/Steel radioactive pokemon that would fit well with the industrial aspect of the games. I love the idea of a Water/Dark kraken-style pokemon but I don't know if it would fit in well with my idea of the region. A Grass/Fighting moose pokemon covered in bark? A Poison/Fairy witch pokemon with a special move where it throws a potion with different effects based on the type of Pokemon it throws it at? An Ouroboros pokemon that starts as just a snake trying to bite its tail but turning into a fearsome dragon?
Overall, I think it's ambitious. Making it so that the story is different depending on the version while still following the core story isn't too hard, they've done it before. On top of that, making it so you can fight between 6-18 gyms and not necessarily in order will allow incredible individuality to the games, making it feel like everybody can play their own game with a different story than their friend. It would also allow great replayability as people fight different gyms or challenges like a Nuzlocke but you can only fight one gym per area. Or fighting one gym per area and then going back with a fresh team to fight the next 6 and then a third team to be the final 6.
And then having a nature-team is a great segue into another Pokemon Rangers game which they could have done so well on the switch, with moving the controllers in a circle to catch pokemon.
The problem though is that the Pokemon Company is currently emphasizing quantity over quality. I legit don't know if we'll ever see another epic main pokemon game because they are so focused on getting smaller games that they know we'll buy just because it has pokemon in it. They are prioritizing profits over telling a good story with a good game right now, which is disappointing, but I think it's possible we are in the stage where pokemon as we knew it would have died off by now and the only reason it's still going is because there is still money to be made. This is unfortunate, but I understand that we can't have the pokemon we grew up with our whole lives.

Prologue – Broken Routine
In the middle of the void of darkness, a lone figure stands under a single spotlight as she feebly clutches the gleaming golden trophy in her small hands. She lifts up her head to smile at an audience who’s not even there. The single ray of light shuts off suddenly, enveloping her entire being into darkness.
Cold.
Lonely.
Muffled voices grow louder and louder, clearer and coherent. Filling the empty dark void with a cacophony of the same demeaning phrases that repeat like a broken record. The girl shivers from the darkness. She falls to her knees, as if being weighed down by the words themselves.
“You cheated.”
“You tricked opponents into feeling sorry for you.”
“You didn’t deserve to win.”
A tear falls. Then two. Until her eyes are blurred and overflowed with tears.
Through the sea of self-deprecation that drowns her mind, she weakly reaches out into the darkness and says,
“Help me.”
--
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
The girl in the dream jolts up awake, older now, her heart and mind racing from the adrenaline of abruptly being pulled from her nightmare. Her skin feels hot from the warm summer air that breezed inside of her room from an open window, but at the same time feels cold from the lingering darkness that clings to her body, refusing to let go. She shivers. Her sleepy cobalt blue eyes drift around her room, as if confirming to herself of the present and not of the past that creeps into her dreams every now and again.
Just to be sure, she pushes the covers off of her and wanders over to her blue messenger bag to pull out her wallet and Trainer ID.
Name: Juliet
Birthday: June 15
Home Region: Hoenn – Lilycove City
That was enough for her. She lets out a sigh of relief and turns her head to the wide mirror in the bathroom. She tiredly regarded her medium length wavy black hair with various stray locks sticking up in random places, the subtle bags under her eyes, and the baggy Mudkip shirt she wore over shorts that didn’t match.
“Good morning,” Juliet greets her reflection. Something comes up from behind her and nudges his head against her ankle. She looks down to see her Shiny Trapinch groggily nuzzling his head against her legs, silently requesting mutual affection. Her smile is gentle as she scoops up the baby Ant Pit Pokemon in her arms and plants a soft kiss on his head. Seeing her beloved pet Trapinch was enough to make her forget the dream she had.
“’Morning to you too, Pistachio. I have to get ready for work so be good while I’m gone, OK?” She told him gently. Pistachio nods obediently and squirms out of her arms to waddle back to his bed.
As she went through her usual morning routine, her Rotom phone hovered in front of her to deliver her morning updates that mainly consisted of the weather, missed calls or new texts, and the spawns of Pokemon that were likely to appear in the Wild Area via Power Spots.
“Rotom, are there any strong Raids that are likely to appear today?”
“Bzzzt! There is likely going to be a Dragapult Raid in Axew’s Eye. But, it will be raining.”
“Dragapult huh...Ghost and Dragon, but being part dragon means it potentially has a large type coverage.” Juliet mused to herself as she tightened the bright yellow tie around the collar of her black and white plaid Battle Cafe uniform. After successfully taming the knots of her bed head, she pulled her hair back into a high ponytail and slipped on her thick framed navy glasses. She took one more look at herself in the mirror for any obvious imperfections, filled up Pistachio’s food bowl, before grabbing her messenger bag and heading out.
It was a hot day in Wyndon, but the breeze that brisked passed her face as she biked along the route to work made it bearable. She wasn’t going to let a dream put a damper on an otherwise, beautiful day. The smell of coffee, tea, and pastries did wonders to calm her nerves, and she could vent out any frustrations on Raids after work.
The Battle Cafe came into view, making her jump off her bike to walk the rest of the way there. She slipped to the back of the cafe, carefully parking and locking her bike to a light post, and welcomed the scent of freshly brewed coffee that hit her senses the moment she walked in.
“’Morning, Boss!” Juliet called. Her boss turned his head back and shot her an easy-going grin. Richard, who casually lets her call him ‘Boss’, is the Cafe Master of the Battle Cafe, so he was the one who battled customers while she was just a part-time Barista.
“Top of the morning, kiddo! Alcremie and Slurpuff are in tip-top shape today so I have a good feeling about my wins today!”
“Ohoho...Is that so? I'll be paying close attention, then.” Juliet tossed out her Sylveon, whom she named Hilda, to help around the cafe as per usual. Her Pokemon was also popular amongst regulars and children for being friendly and playful; sometimes even putting on a little show for customers while they were waiting for their drinks.
Juliet fell into her usual comfortable rhythm, taking and making orders that came in, overseeing battles that were requested by customers – it was clear that today was just going to be another normal day at work. Before she knew it, the end of her shift came and she swiftly changed out of her work uniform into her usual blue varsity jacket, ripped black shorts, and grey beret before taking off to the Wild Area.
This routine was enough. She didn’t need anything more or less.
--
It was raining heavily over Axew’s Eye, but that didn’t stop Juliet from peeking into the stony well and tossing a Wishing Piece in its depths. She immediately took a step back as a huge pillar of energy shot up from the Power Spot and swirled ominously with power. A tell tale sign of a powerful Dynamax Raid. But she had travelled from region to region with her Pokemon and it wasn’t like this was her first time battling a powerful Raid by herself. She took off the soggy grey beret sitting on top of her soaked ebony hair before throwing her legs over the Power Spot and falling into its depths. She skillfully landed with her knees bent in a crouch to avoid impact in her ankles and rose to face the Dynamaxed Pokemon that was waiting for her.
A Dynamaxed Dragapult. As her Rotom predicted.
She hummed thoughtfully before sending out Hilda. Her Sylveon growled at the large Dragon Pokemon before her trainer summoned her back to be Dynamaxed. Hilda stood on an even playing field as Dragapult and unleashed Max Starfall as commanded. Dragapult recoiled and immediately put up it’s defences. The trainer didn’t expect things to go down hill so quickly from there. Breaking down its barrier wasn’t the hard part; but it was how many turns it took to attack and the range of the attacks, chipping off Sylveon’s health too quickly for comfort.
It became clear that this battle wasn’t feasible for one person.
Juliet clicked her tongue in defeat and returned her Pokemon before fleeing out of the Power Spot on her Flygon. Once the trainer was back on the surface, she called out her Sylveon to heal her up and reassured her of her efforts.
“It’s OK, Hilda. I was a little in over my head thinking I could do that Raid by myself. I might have to call the others.” She cooed while stroking her Sylveon. Hilda yipped sadly but nudged her face into her trainer’s hand. The trainer retired to her tent that she had set up a few feet away and as if on cue, her Rotom Phone started to ring.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Jules! You called saying you needed help with a Raid? Are you sure you should be doing raids in this weather?”
“Well, I thought it would be smart since there are less trainers around and the rain has let up a bit. I could use some help, though. This one’s a tough one.” Juliet replied as she dried her hair off with a towel with her free hand.
“Then, let me help! Where are you?”
“Axew’s Eye.”
“Ahh, so it must be a dragon Pokemon! Those are tough. I’ll be over in a jiffy!”
“Thanks, Mary!”
After 20 minutes or so of waiting, Mary peeked her head into Juliet’s tent. Mary was a member of their Raid group and one of Juliet’s good friends that she met when travelling to Johto.
Unlike the Gym Challenge, where young aspiring trainers take on the Gyms across the Galar region in order to participate in the Champion Cup, there was another sport that was rising in popularity for those who were looking for a more thrill-seeking experience that involved teamwork. Throughout the Wild Area in Galar, there are countless rock wells called ‘Power Spots’ that hid a massive cavern of Dynamaxed Pokemon, all varying in rarity and strength. Sometimes the Pokemon lurking underneath will make their presence known from the beacons of light that emit from their wells. However, rarer Pokemon are more compelled by the power of Wishing Pieces that are thrown in. Wishing Stars were not easy to come by, being meteorites that fall from space, making them a strongly sought out item for Raid teams.
The Raid team that Juliet is the ‘leader’ of, which she named ‘Raid Prism’, is considered one of the most well-known teams due to the fact that they were one of the first teams that started the boom of Raids in the first place. The boom was unintentional and started from a few impromptu Raids they took on when they first landed in Galar over a year ago. Juliet jokingly recorded and streamed their battles for something to look back on, until a steady stream of supporters tuned in with each Raid they took on thereafter. Her group weren’t really doing it out of competitiveness to see who could catch the rarest Pokemon or amass a collection of Gigantamax Pokemon – they’ve always done it out of the excitement of just fighting strong Dynamaxed Pokemon as a team. Their efforts were eventually recognized by Professor Magnolia, who hired them as Field Researchers in order to uncover the secrets of the Dynamax Phenomenon from the various Pokemon that were caught in the Power Spots.
Well, Field Researchers was a bit of a stretch since their job mostly just involved catching Pokemon that were requested of them. Because of this, their team wasn't blessed with the opportunity to hear the different theories that were thrown around over round tables about what was being researched, but it did pay well – well enough that the team decided to settle down in Galar for the time being in neighbouring flats in Wyndon.
But that hardly mattered at the moment..
Jules and Mary jumped into the Power Spot and, surprise surprise, were blown out from their defeat. Mary dusted off the wet dirt from her paint splattered patterned tights, wrung out rain water from her damp, curly brown hair, and grimaced down into the Power Spot.
“You weren’t kidding. I think this is the first Raid Pokemon I’ve encountered that could attack so many times and with so much range!”
“Do you think Tessu and Vanquil are available? I think we need the whole team for this one.”
The duo took a moment to call the two remaining members of their team and they arrived in record time. Tessu stared at the state of Mary and Juliet, who were soaked from the rain and their hair were also tousled from being blown out. The short haired trainer gritted her teeth.
“Yikes. How many attempts did you make?”
“Mary once, twice for me.” Juliet grumbled while pulling her hair out of their twin braids.
“Well, we’re all here now so let’s wrap this up, yeah?” Vanquil suggested while rolling his shoulders confidently.
--
“Why is this so hard?!” Vanquil yelled as he lay face first inside of Juliet’s tent. The others sat around him in defeat as they tiredly ate through their curry in hopes of adding fuel to their exhausted minds and bodies.
“Do you think we’ve finally been bested?” Tessu mumbled.
“I don’t think so. I think the best course of action is to work around how many times it can attack.” Juliet began.
“You mean like, figure out how to not get hit?”
“Exactly! Our Pokemon are strong enough to dish out damage and break down its barriers but the problem is stamina and it’s Dragon Darts attack.”
“Hmmm...Why don’t we use attacks that will make our Pokemon out of its range before attacking?” Mary thought out loud.
“Ohhhhh...like Fly or Dig? That could work! I also have a bunch of Guard Specs that could eliminate any debuffs our Pokemon get.” Jules turned to her Rotom Phone, which had been recording their conversation, and uploaded it to their team’s Pokegram. She always made a habit of recording as much of their Raids as possible for the purpose of helping and inspiring Raid teams. The comments were already flooding in with ‘you can do it!’ or ‘psh, it can’t be that hard’. Once they had finished their curry, they set out to the Power Spot in hopes that this would be the final attempt.
--
“This is working way better than I thought!” Juliet yelled as her Flygon, Tiki, flew towards the Dragapult to unleash Crunch, which broke through it’s barrier and weakened it. The Dragon Pokemon started to look worn out, signalling that it was almost down for the count. Mary’s Thievul dealt a final Night Slash before the Dragapult fell in defeat.
“Now, Jules!!” Vanquil shouted in her direction. Juliet quickly pulled out an Ultra Ball to Dynamax it and ran with it before jumping high and throwing it over her head with all of her might at the fallen Pokemon. The giant Ultra Ball opened and sucked in the Dragon Pokemon before landing on the ground with a heavy thud.
They all huddled together in anticipation as the oversized Ultra Ball shook slowly on the ground.
It shook once.
It shook twice.
It shook thrice.
The Raid team braced themselves for the Pokemon to break out, but the Ultra Ball glowed green and shrunk down to normal size. Vanquil threw a fist in the air and let out a loud whoop that echoed through the cavern while the other three sighed in relief and slumped to the ground in exhaustion. Vanquil went over to retrieve the caught Pokemon and helped them up so they could finally get out of there. But not before posting the recording of their battle and victory first.
The rain had begun to stop as they got out of the Power Spot one by one. Vanquil proudly twirled their Dragapult’s Ultra Ball on his finger before staring at it curiously. “What do you guys want to name him?”
“God.”
“My Worst Nightmare.”
“Hell?”
“Um...On second thought, I’ll leave it at that. I think we’re all a little traumatized right now.”
--
“Of course, Professor Magnolia. It was a hard one to catch but hopefully the Dragapult will offer something to your research. Yes. You’re welcome. Take care, OK? And say hi to Sonia for me. Good night!”
Juliet had never been this happy to be back in her flat before. She was soaked from head to toe from the rain and her body ached from over-exertion. Thank Arceus she didn’t have work the next day and she could spend the day sleeping in and lounging around. The trainer took a long, hot shower, threw on her so-called pajamas and was ready to knock out for the day.
Another day came and went. Another routine, unbroken and passing by peacefully-
RING RING RING RING
Until her Rotom phone started ringing.
She whined exasperatedly and was ready to tell the telemarketers off upon taking a quick glance at the unfamiliar number. Her exhausted body screamed at her to ignore it in favour of sleep, but her thumb instinctively tapped the answer button anyway.
She tried to put on her friendliest, at work, voice for the person on the other line.
“Hello?”
“Good evening. Is this Miss Juliet?”
A mature woman’s voice, she deduced.
“Yes, it is. Who is this?”
“My name is Oleana. I’m the secretary to Chairman Rose.”

Chapter 1: New Job and Old Connections
In the middle of the void of darkness, a lone figure stands under a single spotlight as she feebly clutches the gleaming golden trophy in her small hands. Except this time, she doesn’t raise her head to smile. She barely acknowledges the ghostly hands that run through her hair across her back, coddling her but with no warmth to speak of.
Cold.
Lonely.
The muffled voices returned, growing louder and louder, clearer and coherent. Filling the empty dark void with a cacophony of empty compliments and reassurance. Or, were they actually empty?
She didn’t know. She didn’t know which voices to believe.
“You did amazing!”
“You’re so strong!”
“I want to be like you someday.”
Why wasn’t she happy? Why couldn’t she be happy? Who cares what other people thought? As long as there was someone who believed in her, that’s all she needed, right?
Wasn’t making her parents proud, enough?

Instead of jolting awake, Juliet’s eyes fluttered open, letting the few tears escape down her cheeks. Recalling the fragments of her dream made her heart uneasy, and her hands shaky. No matter how many times she saw those dreams, she could never get used to them. But, at the same time, she knew she couldn’t dwell on them. Ignoring them meant they would eventually go away, right?
Right.
Turning over to her Rotom phone, it reminded her of the important meeting with Oleana and Chairman Rose that was scheduled for her Raid team, from the call she got a few days ago. She couldn’t recall specific details of the call amidst her initial excitement but she knew that the opportunity given to them was an honour to receive. Thinking about where the job could lead them, filled her with the enthusiasm she needed to force herself out of bed and get dressed.
After sifting through her wardrobe for a good hour and a half, mentally cursing herself for not having many business or formal appropriate clothes options, Juliet settled on a blue blouse with black pants to wear for the meeting. Her hands instinctively went up to her hair to tie them into their usual braids, but perhaps she looked a bit more mature if she left her hair as is.
She didn’t really know what she was doing. Travelling all over the world didn’t leave many opportunities for her to dress up for the occasion.
“This should be fine.” She told herself.
“Trapinch?” Pistachio called out. She turned her head to the baby Pokemon, who waddled over to her feet and gazed up at her curiously. He probably was just as unfamiliar to her current attire as she was.
“Me and the others have an important meeting to go to. But, do you want to come with me? It must be boring being at home, but you have to be good, OK?”
“Trapinch!!”
--
“...This is a really long elevator.” Vanquil grumbled while tapping his foot impatiently. It certainly wasn’t an understatement. The Rose Tower stood over 1000 feet tall, overlooking all of Wyndon and beyond. It’s sleek, futuristic architectural design was fitting for Chairman Rose, the one in charge of the Pokemon League and president of a large business conglomerate known as Macro Cosmos. Even though they were inside of the Rose Tower and about to meet the man himself, it still didn’t feel real.
The elevator finally slowed to a stop, and the doors finally opened to reveal Oleana and Chairman Rose waiting for them on the far side of the room. Rose stood up from his executive chair and beckoned them out of the elevator with a gentle grin.
“Come in, you four. No need to be shy.”
Easier said than done from a man with as much power and money as one could only dream of.
Juliet was the first to exit and firmly shook his hand. “Good day, Chairman Rose. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Likewise. The things you’re doing for Dynamax Research on top of contributing to tourism, I’m very grateful to see the Galar region thriving especially with the Gym Challenge fast approaching.” Rose added.
“Tourism?”
“Why, yes. With your group and many others making a sport and spectacle of Max Raid Battles, we’ve seen an increase in visitors from all over the world who come to visit the Wild Area for themselves.” Rose motioned them to sit on the leather couches, where tea and other refreshments were spread out in front of them.
“I’m glad! The Galar region is a beautiful region and the Wild Area is just one of the few reasons why we’re so happy to be living here. Right?” Juliet asked, turning her head to her friends, who were already treating themselves to the snacks offered to them.
“Right! We’ve only been living in Galar for over a year, but it’s been really fun doing Raids and inspiring trainers to go out into the wild to see what the region has to offer.” Tessu replied.
“We’ve also been looking forward to the Gym Challenge since in other regions, it’s not as hype up as it is here.” Vanquil added..
“Thank you for reaching out and giving us the opportunity to be co-hosts of the event. But, if I may ask, why us?” Mary asked with a tilt of her head.
“Well, on top of your group playing a part in Dynamax Research, I believe your group in particular will be able to offer different insights of battling since you all come from different regions, correct? That will surely make commentary more interesting and entertaining.” Rose then handed them each an application to fill out, along with an outline of the upcoming Gym Challenge.
“Please look over the application carefully and feel free to flip through the outline of Gym Challenge so you can familiarize yourselves on how we operate it.”
Juliet flipped through the application carefully, choosing to read over the contents first instead of filling it out right away. As the group fell into a comfortable silence and their noses were practically buried in the terms of service, they didn’t notice the person that came by to join them.
Even though he wore his signature fur lined red cape and his signature snap back on his head that never failed to turn people’s heads in his direction.
“Sorry I’m late! I took the wrong monorail on the way here.”
“It’s alright, Leon. Our new employees were just getting settled in.”
CLATTER
Leon. That name made all of them freeze. Juliet didn’t know which one of them dropped their clipboard and pen, but as if in tune with her teammates, they all raised their heads at the same time to look at the legend himself.
Champion Leon.
“L-L-L-L-Leon!” Mary, Vanquil, and Tessu shot up from their seats like a group of Spoinks, eyes sparkling with endless awe and excitement. Juliet watched in amusement as her friends stumbled over questions and compliments of admiration, but...shouldn’t she be sharing in the glee as well?
At least, that’s what she thought. Watching the Champion soak up the praise being sent in his direction, and seeing him smile through each question with ease – something about the scene felt...oddly familiar. But not familiar enough where she could pinpoint when and where the feeling came from.
Her shoulders tensed when his burning golden gaze fell on her. She felt...uneasy being stared at, especially by someone with a strong, overwhelming aura as his. Was he sizing her up? No, it didn’t look like it. His head cocked to the side and it looked like his eyes were searching for something. Then, his eyes lit up in recognition and the wide smile he sent her was all teeth.
“J, right?”
J? What kind of an alias was that? Juliet blinked confusingly. Her mind repeating that name over and over in her head, trying to pull up the memory of the name – if there was any at all.
J, J, J…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Right...Wait. What’s your name?”
“My name?”
“Yeah. You’re not wearing a name tag like your aunt is.”
“...Call me J.”
“J? That’s it?”
“Is that weird?”
“No! In that case, you can call me Lee.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Lee.” She blurted out. The memory that flashed in her mind was hazy, but there was no mistaking the foggy images of her helping at her aunt’s inn in Lavaridge Town, along with a purple-haired teen around her age, who was staying at the inn for a vacation. She could barely make out his toothy smile and youthful spirit, that seeing the teen mature into the man in front of her, made the memory feel more distant than ever.
“You remember too. I’m glad! Do you think you can tell me your name now?” Leon joked and outstretched his hand to her. Juliet looked down at his hand, trying to recollect the sudden wave of memories that washed over her. Where did they come from? And why did it take until now for her to remember them? She didn’t want to keep him hanging for long so she swallowed down the uncertainty before reaching out to shake his hand.
“It’s Juliet. Sorry for keeping you in the dark for so long-”
“Stooooooooooooop! Hold on!! You two know each other?!” Tessu interjected in between their handshake. Juliet scratched the side of her cheek and looked to the side sheepishly. ‘Know’ wasn’t the word she would use. Especially since it seemed like Leon had a better memory than her.
“Something like that. It felt like so long ago but, back when I used to help my aunt out at her inn, Leon and his family were on vacation and they stayed at the inn.”
“That’s right. I think I was around...16 maybe? I’ve never forgotten how hospitable your aunt was during our stay. Or how you almost beat me in a Pokemon battle.” The Champion laughed fondly at the memory.
She did? Oh boy, she really did have a bad memory to forget something like that.
“You almost beat the Champion of Galar in a battle?!” Vanquil gawked in disbelief.
“And you didn’t put two and two together when we came to Galar?” Mary wondered, leaning against Juliet with a suspicious gleam in her eye. Juliet pushed back against her with a pout. Was now really the time to catch up?!
“Look, so much happened after that! I travelled around the world, met you three, came to Galar, etc. If I’m remembering correctly, Leon was a bit more scrawny and his hair was shorter back then.”
“I wasn’t that scrawny.” Leon retorted with a pout of his own.
“Well, it seems you’re all getting along better than I expected!” Rose’s chuckle snapped them back to the task at hand, making them pick up their neglected applications that were left on the ground.
That was...a bit embarrassing to say the least. But at the same time, reminiscing on one of the happier periods of her life, it brought back a youthful cheeriness that she hadn’t felt in years. It felt nostalgic. Refreshing even. Perhaps Leon had that effect on people. His positive and confident aura could pick people back up without needing to say a word.
No wonder he was so loved and looked up to like a King.
Even as the meeting continued without interruption, the Champion couldn’t help but steal a few glances in her direction. Anytime their gazes met, he’d shoot her a toothy grin, which she responded to with a sheepish smile. For what reason she didn’t know, but unlike earlier where she wanted to shrink from his gaze, his occasional glances felt comforting.
Like a dandelion basking under the sun.
--
“You’re going to be working with Leon?!”
“Mind toning it down, Boss? The whole cafe doesn’t need to know.”
“But, I’m so jealous! If there’s one person I want to battle, it’s Leon!” Richard lamented dramatically as he stocked up the shelves and display cases with more pastries and coffee beans. Juliet leaned against the counter, allowing herself to recover from the end of the lunch rush and pouring herself a cup of tea.
“Maybe you’ll break the record for shortest Pokemon battle-” She said with a smug grin on her face. Her boss threw a dirty rag in her direction out of retaliation, but she caught it easily and tossed it into the sink. Still, she’d love to see such a battle.
“Are you sure you don’t want to take less shifts? Seems like a lot to juggle with being a Field Researcher and a co-host now,”
“It’ll be fine. There’s going to be gaps within each gym for challengers anyway especially since many of them are going to be exploring the Wild Area for the first time. Don’t worry about me, Boss.” Just as Richard opened his mouth to respond, the front door opened with the tell tale jingle of the bell above the door, signalling Juliet to bow politely to welcome the customer as she became accustomed to do as it was second nature.
“Welcome to the Battle Cafe! Are you interested-”
Juliet felt a sudden sense of unease wash over her. Black trench coat, a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, and a white face mask. Did this man know it was the middle of summer? Or maybe it was a woman? She couldn’t tell how when their trench coat was consuming their body like a black hole. She didn’t mean to judge someone on appearance alone, but even her boss wore a face that told her he was suspicious and nervous too. Swallowing her anxiety, she stuttered,
“A-Are you interested in battling the Cafe Master for a complimentary Casteliastone if you win? Or would you like to make a regular order?”
The man approached the counter, drawing curious eyes to him as he searched through his trench coat for what she presumed to be his wallet. Or worse-
“I’ll take a regular coffee. One milk, one sugar.”
A normal order. Juliet let out a breath of relief she didn’t know she was keeping in. “That will be 250 Pokedollars, please. Can I get a name for the order?”
“...Dande.”
“Thank you, Dande. Your order will be served to the left of you.” As he walked past after giving her an affirmative nod, she could have swore she saw a flash of familiar purple hair from under his hat. She hummed curiously, narrowing her eyes at him to see if he would break under her persistent stare. Even when his head turned away, she could see the beads of sweat that were streaking down his copper skin.
Was it from the heat or her glare? Maybe both.
When she set down his finished drink and he reached out to grab it, she leaned over the counter and whispered, “You know it’s summer, right Leon?”
The man let out an exasperated sigh and lowered his sunglasses enough so she could see his familiar golden eyes. “And here I thought I had a good disguise.”
“Sure, if you want people to think you’re a serial killer or a drug dealer. I think you’re drawing more attention with this disguise than if you didn’t wear it at all.”
Leon laughed nervously at the few weird looks he was getting from the other patrons of the cafe.
“I see your point.”
Juliet rolled her eyes and untied her apron from her waist. It wouldn’t be a good idea for him to go back out into the sweltering heat without cooling down a bit first. She was technically off the clock now, so she’d put him out of his misery. “My shift is done now, but I’ll be hanging around in the back for a bit before going out, Boss.”
She came out from behind from the counter and beckoned Leon to follow her through the ‘Employees Only’ door, where a blast of cool air washed over their bodies. It wasn’t like the cafe itself didn’t have AC, but with the amount of hot drinks that are served and the cool air that escapes through the front door, it was only somewhat cool. Once the door closed, the Champion practically ripped off the trench coat and face mask, sighing with contentment at the AC air cooling the sweat off his neck.
“Thanks, but am I allowed to be back here?”
“It’s fine. Some regular customers like talking to me and when they have bad days, we talk back here on my breaks. My boss already knows and is cool with it especially since they leave big tips.” Juliet looked at his discarded trench coat that he left on the floor. “Just don’t steal anything.”
“Of course not. But, it looks like I’ll have to look into a different disguise.” Leon muttered.
“OR, you could just wear seasonal appropriate clothes like a normal person.”
“I wish I could, but it’s hard going out when you get stopped so often by fans...Not that I mind, it’s just...”
“You just want to be treated like a regular civilian?” Juliet finished for him as she plopped herself down on one of the spare cafe chairs. Leon followed suit and rubbed the back of his neck, his gaze fixed to the floor as if reluctant to admit to himself that, yes, he just wanted to be treated like a normal person instead of someone on top of an impossibly high pedestal.
“Yeah, something like that.”
She didn’t want to push him to reveal anything to her, but she thought it was a fitting opportunity to catch up with Leon in hopes of filling in the missing pieces of her foggy memory. She folded her arms over the table and looked at him with a carefree grin.
“So, how’s your brother? He was pretty small the last time I saw him.”
“He’s doing great! I’m actually going to surprise him and his best friend with their starter Pokemon next week along with endorsement letters for the Gym Challenge by yours truly.” His hesitant demeanour vanished, replaced with bright optimism from talking about his younger brother.
“Oho, looking to dethrone his older brother, huh?” Juliet teased lightly.
“It’s always been a dream of his and I’m excited to see how strong he’ll become. This year’s Gym Challenge is shaping up to be a game changer, I can feel it. Which means I have to train thrice as hard!” The Champion flexed his muscles for added flair, making the barista snort in her hand.
This was the Leon that everyone knew. The Undefeated Champion who answered the calls of anyone who dared challenge him. The Undefeated Champion who pushed himself to the limit, so challengers in turn, could push themselves. It was a wonder how he had so much determination, the courage to reach new heights and be one of the strongest of them all.
Strength...Something Juliet wished she had or at least, the bravery to acknowledge the strength she did have. What was it like? To believe in yourself and have the power to instill courage in everyone else? These were questions she couldn’t ask him, at least not right now.
Whatever the answers to those questions were, she did know one thing – seeing the Champion of Galar give it his all for his family, friends, and fans, to push the boundaries and prove to everyone what he was made of,
She was going to do the same.
Then, hopefully one day, she’ll be able to look at herself in the mirror and say,
“I’m strong and I’m proud of myself.”
“So, you’ve moved to Galar, huh?” Leon noted after taking a sip from his coffee.
“Yup. That’s partially thanks to Professor Magnolia for hiring my team as Field Researchers after seeing how capable we are in Max Raids.” It was a humble brag, but a brag nonetheless, and she’ll always feel thankful for the opportunity.
“Chairman Rose filled me in about that and I couldn’t help but watch some of your Raids afterwards. They’re a lot different from competitive battling, but you guys look like you’re having a lot of fun and I’ve learned a lot from just watching.” Leon pulled out his Rotom phone and opened up the recent Raid they did against the Dragapult.
Ah.
The Dragapult they ended up naming Dragon Lord, much to Magnolia’s amusement.
“This is probably my favourite Raid your team did. As a proud owner of a Dragapult myself, they’re pretty resilient to deal with.”
“You can say that again. Dragon Darts is such a pain.”
“Heh. Viable move when you’re the one using it, though.” Leon’s eye then wandered around the staff room of the Battle Cafe, skimming through the shelves of coffee beans and other stock items. “I guess it doesn’t really surprise me that you’re working here too. You’ve always been a hard worker.”
Juliet grinned gently. He really paid attention to little details about people, huh?
“I thought it would be good to get a side-job to get to know the locals since we didn’t know anyone upon moving here. Ease ourselves into Galar society, you know?”
“And, how’s that working out?”
“Pretty much settled in at this point! Though, I’m still on the fence about using Galarian slang every day like ‘lad’ or ‘mate’...” She grimaced. “...It sounds wrong when I say it.”
“Pft! Of all the things to struggle with. Come on, it can’t be that bad. Try it out on me.” Leon egged her on teasingly, casually leaning his cheek on a propped up hand.
Seriously?
Juliet stiffened considerably and her face looked like she sucked on 50 lemons from how scrunched up it was. “H-Hey, mate. H-How’s it going…?”
The Champion stifled a snort in his hand, but he couldn’t exactly hide the chuckles that followed right after. He had forgotten how funny and silly she was, enjoying the moment of carefree laughter despite how disapprovingly she glared at him. “I think you should stick with what you’re used to.”
“Haha, laugh it up.”
They hadn’t realized how long they were spending just talking. Getting each other up to speed about what the other had been doing, sharing stories about their travels, talking about their Pokemon – there were no shortages of things to talk about when each conversation jumped from topic to topic, neither Leon or Juliet losing interest in each other's stories.
Only the sound of a cup shattering to the ground could cut through their conversation. Their heads whipped around to see Richard with his jaw dropped, and a broken cup of tea by his feet.
“You were talking to Champion Leon this entire time and didn’t invite me?!”

Some Off-Canon Stations Nonsense
Not necessarily crack, but not necessarily a scene I’ll include in Stations. NSFW for multiple kink shenanigans.
_____________________________
Loren hung back with Rabbit in the food court of the Ochre Mall in Goldenrod, watching from a distance as the others shopped for new clothes. Now back in Johto, any of them prior trapped in a half-Pokémon form now sought to blend in to the best of their abilities, and the other non-Enhanced Roses enjoyed helping them. The Ditto-Type cast the Golisopod-Type a furtive glance, observing Rabbit eyeing Dinah picking out a new outfit.
"You really like it when Dinah... absorbs moisture, don't you," the younger suggested quietly.
Rabbit stuttered and gave him a dirty look.
"Wh-- no. Wait what, why."
"I mean, I heard how you two were going at it back in Lavender. We all did. I thought at first she was embarrassed, but she likes it, too, doesn't she?"
"She loves it," Rabbit uttered a little too quickly. He bit his lower lip. "Don't tell her I said that."
"I don't intend to. But, ah. I figure, if you're using your abilities to fool around, that you have fun with the fact you can use AquaJet..."
"Why are we discussing this?" The redhead crossed his legs under the table.
"Sian caught something South of Goldenrod, and I got a kiss from it." Loren fidgeted with his platinum ring, eyeing the wire-wrapped filigree at its center. He still felt strange, knowing wearing his freucha was optional to retain his human disguise, when no one else in the group that had been Enhanced could just shapeshift. "It... I know something that I think the two of you would have a lot of fun with. I was gonna ask you first, before I even broached it with her. It'd be fun to treat you two, if you think it sounds like fun."
"You're talking about his Corsola? He let you bite it? It let you bite it?" Rabbit scrunched his nose at the thought of it. "It's Rock Type. That can't have been pleasant."
"It's also a Water Type. And why I'm bringing it up. Corsola knew a move called AquaRing. You know AquaRing, right?" Loren glanced at him with a calm playfulness.
"It's a restorative move for Water Types, envelops the user in a veil of water that slowly regenerates them. I don't... what does this have to do with Dinah?"
"I know BatonPass, but don't get to use it all that much. I could--"
"--Oh hell." Wide-eyed, Rabbit leaned over the counter to shush him. "...How long does it last?"
The Ditto-Type grinned at him.
"As long as the user--or recipient--opts into it. She can have it last however long she wants."
Rabbit glanced over to where Dinah was picking out new jeans, then back to Loren. A few times. Fluttering a breath through his nose, he sucked on his fountain soda rather than answer for some time.
"I know it's weird that I'm doing it, but besides instigating it, I'm not getting involved."
The elder brother stifled expletives under his breath, nearly regretting the impulse to consent.
"--You'd better ask her before you just--" He pantomimed throwing water on her. "She got pissed at me for 'accidentally' spilling a cup of water down her shirt a few weeks ago."
"You think she'd have more fun with it... before or after a purchase?"
"Oh, don't be mean. It might ruin her new clothes."
"I'll go ask her right now, then." Loren stood with abrupt zeal, and stuffed his hands in his pockets to stroll across the way to approach Dinah.
"Loren, I know that look a mile away," she mumbled with an eye roll, not taking her eyes off the stacks of jeans on the table where she browsed. "What are you scheming?"
"Guilty. I, ah. Have a hunch that you don't entirely dislike your WaterAbsorb ability..." He teetered on the heels of his oxfords as he waited for a reaction.
"Well, someone certainly does." She snorted, plucking out a dark-wash pair halfway down the pile. "I like that he likes it. Not that it's any of your business, really."
"No, no. Not my business. You're right. But... I still have to offer. Since we got back in Johto, I have a combo in my learnset now, that could make the WaterAbsorb... work slowly... for as long as you want."
Her head picked up, and she whipped to stare at him at length.
"You have what now."
"I feel like making the retail employees' day a little more interesting by making yours a lot more interesting. What can I say?" He bobbed on his heels again, whistling with an innocent glance to the ceiling. "You're totally free to blame it on another one of my pranks, if you need an excuse with the others. Used to it by now."
Dinah let out a low, demented chuckle and gave him a heavy-lidded grin.
"What is it?"
"You're giving me a chance to practice BatonPass," Loren winked. He flicked his left hand with a flinch, and triggered the Water Type move. A microfine shimmer of moisture enveloped his body, and he leaned to clasp her left hand in both of his. With a devious smirk, he made eye contact and gave her hand a single firm shake which dislodged the veil from himself and transferred it to her. "AquaRing feels like one of those amusement park mist arches." He shivered, rubbing his forearms. "Worth it."
She looked her hands over, brow arched.
"How long is it gonna--" Her eyes widened, her posture stiffening, as the veil shimmered iridescent for a fraction of a moment. "Ohhh hell," she mumbled, looking down to find her T-shirt and capris noticeably tighter.
Loren clamped a hand over his nose and mouth, trying not to laugh in a delirium how well the combo had worked. He tried not to stare at her as she redistributed the overall gain up to her chest.
"I'm-- I'm going to leave you to have fun with that. And remember you can shrug it off any time you want. You're in full control of how... out of control you get."
"Go bug somebody else," she shooed, scheming what all she wanted to try to fit in.
He sat down with Rabbit again and took his brother's drink from him to sip on.
"She... she said yes, didn't she," Rabbit mumbled, eyes stuck on his girlfriend. "I-- I'll be back."
Loren watched furtively in silence, kicking up his feet in the chair Rabbit had sat in. Exhibitionists.
Shakily, Rabbit selected a pinstripe pantsuit and a long-sleeve gold crop top and approached Dinah. He smiled at her sheepishly when she turned around, her breasts already heaving.
"I, ah. You drank extra water to mess with me," he played. "I was going to say, I think you'd look good in this, but I think the size I picked is totally too small."
Dinah glanced around to take note of whoever might be observing, then on cue the AquaRing triggered again, causing her entire body to ripple thicker and softer. Her capris audibly tightened, and she bit at the corner of her mouth.
"Still taking on water," she played, voice breaking. "I'm not totally sure what's going on, but--"
"--I am so absolutely entranced," he interrupted. "I don't know how it works, but you-- Try things on for me. Please."
She let out a laugh and took the outfit from him, and took it and a few of her own choices into the fitting room with Rabbit following closely behind. He sat outside, legs crossed and hands laced stiffly in his lap. The crop top was easier for her to squirm into than the pantsuit, and the side zipper argued with her curves. She just barely outpaced another tremor of water flowing into her, her middle thick enough to pucker the zipper stitches despite the fabric's stretchiness. She modeled for herself a bit and ran her hands over herself, shivering at the sloshing sensation. She had no idea how the freucha still let the Vaporeon abilities manifest, let alone how the Vaporeon abilities were affecting her human form, but she could hardly argue. To smooth everything out, she used AcidArmor to redistribute most of the water to her chest and hips. Her breasts now bigger than her head, they barely fit in the crop top, and she could feel them beginning to bulge out under her arms for lack of room elsewhere. She waited for one more wave of AquaRing to hit before she opened the door and pranced forth to show off for her boyfriend.
Rabbit couldn't believe his eyes as he inspected how impossibly she filled the outfit he'd picked out. The striped pattern of the pantsuit distended to accentuate her exaggerated measurements, and he held his breath as she put force into her step to cause her form to jostle as she walked back and forth.
"I dunno, I think it's a bit small," Dinah played, frowning innocently. "You don't think you could pick something a size bigger for me, could you? I'll try on something else while you decide."
"Hhhokay." He swallowed hard and shot up to comply as she returned to the fitting room.
Once she'd shut the door, another wave hit Dinah, and she let out a wheeze when she heard a few stitches pop. She felt herself up a little more, fingers hooked under her buttocks to jiggle them vigorously. When she tried to pull the zipper tab, it skipped teeth from the strain, and she grunted, unable to properly twist enough to get at it with both hands. Another applied AcidArmor redistributed the water weight to entirely shift to her hips, and the pantsuit practically sliced away from the abrupt engorgement. She grimaced, stunned, but her dismay didn't last long as she admired how she'd trapped her bikini-cut underwear on herself in such a way.
Grinning, she slipped out of the crop top and discarded the pantsuit pieces in the floor, then she grabbed for the pair of high-waisted jeggings, purple tank top, and lavender cardigan she'd carried into the stall with her. Once she got the tank and cardigan on, she AcidArmored most of the water to her chest, and sat down with difficulty to struggle to get the jeggings up. Unable to see over her chest, she struggled to button all seven buttons of the pants' fly, and the AquaRing shimmered once again as she endeavored to, only making it more difficult. Letting out a pleased sigh at how she overflowed her sports bra on all hems, she watched herself in the mirror as she remained seated and AcidArmored the hourglass back in place. No longer visibly muffining out of the sports bra, her thighs and buttocks thickened out tremendously beneath her.
"Hey, here," Rabbit's voice came from outside, and he slung a few garments over the top of the door.
"I'll be out in a second," she replied shakily, rising to take the items to hang up with the others.
She waited for two more waves of AquaRing to hit her before she came out for another showing. Her thighs now exceeded her shoulder span, and she had begun to take on enough water that she had to leave some of it in her face, neck, and limbs to balance it all out. Despite the high impact sports fabric, the bra couldn't even begin to contain how her curves sloshed and swayed with her exuberance. Rabbit sank into the chair, stunned static trickling faintly from his cheekbones. They both stuttered when a butt stitch popped, and after a moment Dinah could ascertain that Rabbit had flicked an AquaJet at her behind.
"I, I'm gonna go try on something else," she whispered, flushing in the face.
"I," he looked around to see if anyone was watching, and stood to follow, "I'm coming with you."
They slipped into the stall together, an increasingly tight squeeze, and Rabbit sat to observe. Another AquaRing wave hit, and she jutted her heaving buttocks into his face so he could feel of her. To tease him, she sat down in his lap in the process of AcidArmoring it all to her thighs, and she wrapped his arms around her so he could eye their reflection over her shoulder. He quickly let go to trace her massive backside, pressing both his hands and himself into it from all sides. With some difficulty, he got her to lift up just enough so he could rearrange himself, and he stuttered a moan when another wave of AquaRing hit upon her sitting back down.
"These pants aren't going to fit you for long," he whispered in her ear, kissing her neck.
"Nothing is going to fit me for long," she shot back, joining him in caressing her.
She flipped around to straddle his lap, and AcidArmored everything up top to shove her breasts in his face. The buttons of the cardigan strained and the knit fabric buckled, her engorged nipples and areolae trapped in the band of the now petite sports bra, completely filling it where once her entire breasts might have. He hit her with two more AquaJet flicks to the chest, and the bra relinquished its captives with a sloshing heave. She tried to tug down the tank top under the cardigan, but the hem was already rising up. He cupped her chest from underneath to press his face into it, and he playfully nudged the tightest button undone to tickle a finger in the gap it caused. Another wave of AquaRing struck her, and she trembled when the second-tightest button shot off.
Dinah stood to look at herself in the mirror, and AcidArmored to try to evenly balance her shape again. Another AquaRing wave shuddered through her, and suddenly everything got unbearably tight. Rabbit motioned to her and she stood still a moment, and he flicked an AquaJet straight at her crotch, further swelling it up. She clapped a hand over her mouth to contain a moan, and he did it again with a mean grin. He rose to lean down and initiate a sloppy kiss, and they made out until the ripples of AquaRing rang out in stitches all over again as the pants fell away.
Soft and chunky head to toe by this point, the tank top was the only thing of the second ensemble which barely still stayed on her, and she quietly eyed the other outfit Rabbit had brought her: a navy full-length knit pencil dress with a high collar. Giving him an imploring look, she suggested that he help her into it. She AcidArmored everything down into her hips to press him against the wall of the fitting room with her massive butt, and barely able to contain himself, he slipped it over her head and she put her arms down the sleeves. Once it was down to her belly, she AcidArmored to trickle everything up into her chest. God, he had to have picked the stretchiest garment in the store, she thought as her topheaviness toppled her back against him, and he barely caught her by cupping the undersides of her breasts. Now in the garment, she AcidArmored one more time to spread everything out, just in time for another AquaRing. She started to think about how Loren had told her she could stop at any time, but Rabbit was having trouble putting his arms around her hips or chest.
She wasn't about to stop now.
Her nipples brushed against the wall with the mirror, and neither of them could any longer see all of her in the reflection. Rabbit had already had to sit back down, the fitting room stall getting more and more pleasantly and overwhelmingly cramped.
"I don't think you-- could fit out the door at this point," Rabbit whispered over her shoulder, legs quivering under her.
"Do you want me to fit through the door?"
"Never."
The next ripple of AquaRing was too much for the bench, and it snapped out from under them, Dinah landing on top of Rabbit with a massive wobble. Rabbit drunkenly did his best to reach around her thighs and nuzzles his face against her butt, and another ripple filled her body out to hit all four walls. The dress hem, which had once brushed her ankles, now had risen above her knees.
"Was this the biggest size they had?" she teased, unable to see over her bosom to use the mirror to see any of herself.
"It just keeps going and going, doesn't it," he wheezed under her in awe. "You can't turn it off, can you."
"No," she lied, mustering just enough gyration to grind against him. Another AquaRing hit her and she could hear him mumbling, muffled by her enormity. She began to wonder if she could will it to trigger, based on the timing, and focused on it. Sure enough, another wave hit closer together than they had been. "I'm gonna break the fitting room," she moaned, faking worry.
When she could start feeling the hanger-posts on the wall start digging into her, she thought they might pop her, and she teleported just outside the fitting room stall. With her no longer in it, the stall's pressboard walls groaned with relief. Rabbit reached up in a daze to open the door and look up at her, admiring how she just barely fit in the walkway of the fitting room. She mustered another AquaRing ripple, and proceeded to squirm out into the entry of the fitting rooms, barely squeezing through the entryway to walk back out into the store. Doing the best she could, she feigned anything odd was transpiring, and continued browsing the racks in an attempt to locate anything remotely as stretchy, or anything that had remotely as much fabric coverage, as the dress she had on.
She passed by the front window and Loren spat out his drink to see how overboard she'd gone.
Noticing just how many people had started to stare, human and Rose alike, she started nudging the AquaRings closer together, so that the gains would be visible to the naked eye.
"Is there anything here in my size?" she bemoaned in exasperation, letting a series of five AquaRings trigger at once. The dress shot up to only be able to contain her bosom, and she couldn't even begin to cover her backside with just her hands.
Loren went right up to her ear, furiously concerned.
"I told you that you can stop it anytime you want. Not to kinkshame you, but you should STOP."
With a defiant burbled laugh, she forced out another three AquaRing ripples.
"I think I should leave," she spoke over him. "Nothing is fitting. Guess there's always next time!"
"Geez, Dinah. Stop. Stop before somebody gets hurt--"
"You're the one who told me to have fun," she grinned, strutting out of the store and down the walkway. Loren and Rabbit narrowly caught the same elevator as her, tucked into the back corners.
"Loren's right, Dinah," Rabbit started. "I think we've had enough fun."
"I've only just gotten started, though," she mumbled lyrically, and let out another four AquaRing ripples.
When the elevator doors opened, the brothers had to shove her to help her out.
"It's going to keep going until I tell it to stop, right, Loren?"
Loren paled.
"--As far as I know, you're the only one with the power to stop it."
"...Good."
And with that, she sat herself down in a crossway of the mall, and grabbed Rabbit to sit in her lap, queueing up a succession of more AquaRings than she could count to transpire within a sixty-second span.

Hello! I'm the one asking for part 2 (hehe) and yeah! The same characters from before ^^!
As the ask suggests, this is a part 2 of this post. If you haven’t seen it yet, you may want to read it first!
This one was a bit hard to write, only because I imagine a part 2 of this ask-set would depend very much on the reader’s own preferences and goals for their life.  I tried to keep it vague-ish for that reason.
 ——————————————————————————————–
It had been about 3 years since your arrival into the Pokemon world.  In that time, you managed to build a life for yourself, with your partner by your side.
But, it had been harder to adjust than you expected.  Leaving one life behind and starting a new one was difficult, of course. But you weren’t prepared for the occasional culture shock or how much you actually had to learn.
In that time, the world was introduced to Ultra Beasts. They had been appearing more often than when you were first abducted, even outside of Alola.  And, of course, the world took notice.  At first, it was assumed the pictures and videos were fake. But then, a few trainers were seen using said Ultra Beasts, one trainer in particular becoming the champion of a region.  At that point, many people accepted the existence of alien Pokemon.
But new Fallers were also found.  Some of whom fell into custody of groups other than Interpol, which created quite a problem for the police agency.  Most of these Fallers had their memories wiped.  But a couple retained their memories, like you, and went public with their knowledge.
Luckily, none of the public Fallers were from our world; all were from various Pokemon timelines, one of which had a very bleak future.
Given the secret about other worlds and timelines was out, you decided to come forward yourself, but omitting everything about the Pokemon series being fictional in your world.  You decided to work with researchers mostly, and worked on getting a book published.  You figured if you were to find a niche in this world, it had to be this.
You turned out to be instrumental in deciphering the Unown code.  It’s basically just English, after all, although the researchers didn’t know this at first.  Telling them the Unown language was basically just another language in your world was a breakthrough in their research.
One unfortunate consequence of the increased Ultra Beast sightings was an increase in you encountering them.  As a Faller, you are an Ultra Beast magnet. For your boyfriend, this was always a bit of a worry for him.  Even if you do eventually become a capable trainer yourself, dealing with an upset, alien Pokemon from another world is guaranteed to be dangerous!
Raihan
Was the most supportive in you coming forward.  The day you went public, made posts supporting his “alien” partner from another world.  These posts gained almost as much attention as the news stories of you coming forward.
Likes to travel with you as you go around the world for your own work.  Whether it’s a trip to Johto to help with the Unown translation efforts, or to attend a research convention in Unova, he’ll always offer to come along so long as it doesn’t conflict with his Gym Leader duties.
Some of your favorite memories were on these travels with you.  Seeing the Dragon’s Den in Blackthorn city was amazing; Clair gave you two permission after Raihan managed to defeat her in battle (although, she wasn’t particular happy about losing, she enjoyed battling against foreign dragons). You two got lost in Castelia city, which ended up being frustrating and fun at the same time.  And the Alolan beaches were lovely.
But, it was on one of those trips when you got attacked. As you were traveling by ship to your next destination, you heard screams coming from the other side of the ship. Raihan, being a capable gym leader, immediately ran in that direction, and you followed.
It turned out to be an Ultra Beast that stepped through its portal and landed right on the ship’s deck.  The Beast flexed its arms upon landing, fortunately giving bystanders the chance to run away. You identified the Pokemon as Buzzwole.
As serious as the situation was, Raihan could help but laugh.  A flexing bodybuilder-esc alien?  It was a bit ridiculous.  He quickly sent out Flygon.
Raihan wanted to set up Sandstorm, but with the amount of other people around, he didn’t think it was wise.  So instead, he just had it start with a Dragon Claw.  Flygon managed to grasp the Beast’s head, and before it could react, and used Crunch on its neck.
Unfortunately, as Flygon used Crunch, Buzzwole was able to counter with Superpower. This sent the dragon flying back, skidding across the deck.
Flygon shuddered in pain.  Luckily, Buzzwole did more flexing after the successful hit, giving Flygon a chance to get up.  Flygon was able to pull off a Flamethrower in this time.  While Flygon wasn’t gifted in Special Attack, the type advantage helped.
While Buzzwole was trying to recover from the hit, Raihan threw a Pokeball at it.  You were a bit surprised that he chose to try to catch it, but it was probably an easier way to deal with it, in the end.
It took a few Ultraballs to catch the thing, as well as one more Dragon Claw from Flygon. When the Ultraball finally clicked, relief spread across the crowd.
·You two took the Buzzwole home with you.  Neither of you knew what to do with the beast, but it eventually became a (weird) part of the family.  Raihan ended up giving the Buzzwole to you for protection, although the Pokemon ended up bonding more with the dragon trainer.
On more than one occasion, you caught Raihan and Buzzwole working out together.  Amusingly, Buzzwole far outpaced his human counterpart, but that didn’t stop Raihan from trying to keep up!
Milo
Is probably the most relaxed about your recent life changes.  To him, it’s just another step in your life, and he’ll do his best to help you along the way.
Is the most likely out of the three to read your book from start to finish.  One of his favorite past times is reading on his breaks.  On sunny afternoons when the sun is at its peak, he likes to take his breaks in the shade of a large tree.  Once there, he typically has a snack and delves into a few chapters of whatever he’s reading at the moment.  There’s just something about reading a book outside, surrounded by nature, that feels right.
And yes, his break ended up being much longer than intended when he started reading your book.  He couldn’t help it!  It was about your world, after all.  And in learning more about your world, he was learning more about how you became the person you are today.
For your anniversary together, you two decided to spend the day outside and have a picnic.  It was near one of his wheat fields, and far enough away from town to have a peaceful, quiet day together.  Or so you hoped.
It turns out your hopes were in vain.  As Milo set up the blanket, the air became distorted and buzzed with energy.  An Ultra Wormhole opened up above the field, and out popped a giant, steel Ultra Beast.  It turned out to be a Celesteela!
The beast immediately started setting up roots in the field.  You knew of the beast previously, having done a bit of research in case you encountered one.  Celesteela sapped nutrients from the earth, and although they preferred bamboo forests, this one apparently wasn’t as picky.
It didn’t seem overly aggressive, but it was definitely observing you.  You and Milo discussed what to do, and while Milo wouldn’t have minded leaving it there (since it seemed peaceful), you convinced him that it needed to be moved.  Having a random, alien Pokemon in the middle of a wheat field near town did not seem like a good idea!
Milo used his Flapple to deal with the Beast.  He started with Leech Seed, which the Celesteela initially didn’t notice. Milo was able to set up a few Dragon Dances before using Dragon Pulse on the beast.  At that point, it definitely noticed.  And retaliated.
It used Smack Down.  And while Flapple wasn’t a flying type, it fell from the sky, taking quite a bit of damage, and had trouble getting airborne again.
Milo had it use another Dragon Pulse.  From the boosts from Dragon Dance, it did a fair bit of damage.
It was at that point it occurred to you… What were you going to do when it fainted?  The thing was huge.  And heavy.  How would you get it out of the field?
Your solution was to catch it.  You yelled to Milo to hold off from finishing it off, and threw a Pokeball.  It took a couple of tries, but you were eventually able to catch it.
You were still breathing a bit heavy, and wanted to go home.  But Milo convinced you to stay; you had already mostly set up the picnic, so there’s no need to ruin the day.  The Beast was dealt with, so you two could relax now.
You agreed, and had a wonderful afternoon.  Milo makes some really good sandwiches.  You even gave one to Flapple, since it worked so hard earlier!
You contemplated keeping the Celesteela, but it didn’t seem happy; they are rather particular with their needs, and prefer to grow in peace rather than being confined to a Pokeball.  Eventually, Milo and you contacted a few researchers who have worked with Celesteela, and with their help, you set up a sanctuary for it on an unused field. Bamboo wouldn’t grow natively in the area, so it was decided that a forest would have to do.  Celesteela still seemed happy, though, and you let it live there in peace.
Leon
Was a little concerned with you going public about your past, but still supports your decision.  While he knows holding a secret for so long could really harm someone, he’s also aware of what so much publicity can do, too.  Worries if you can handle it.
Will give you advice about dealing with your newfound publicity.  If you ever need to vent, he’s a great listener.
Out of the three, he’s the most likely to be interested in the research surrounding Fallers.  This is partially because of his brother, Hop.  His younger brother had been researching Eternatus as a way to help his mentor, Sonia, and her research into The Darkest Day.  Hop had a long way to go before becoming a professor, but he might as well get some work done along the way!
Thus, as a result of his brother, former rival, and now you becoming involved in research in some way or another, he has a bit of interest in it, as well.  Mainly the results, of course.
Still low-key hopes for an explanation on the whole Pokemon-is-a-video-game-in-my-world thing.  He’s accepted that he’s a character in those games, but it still bugs him now and then…
Eventually, you get attacked by an Ultra Beast.  Luckily, he was there at the time.  You had met Leon at the top of the Battle Tower; he had just finished up his day, and wanted to dinner with you.  (Luckily, the Poke-equivalent of UberEats delivers to the Tower) There’s nothing like the view of the city below from the top of the tower, and he thought it would be a nice, romantic way to end the night.
As you stepped out of the elevator, a loud crash sounded throughout the room.  A moment later, the power went out.  As Leon was about to text a worker downstairs about the situation, the beast appeared before the glass, shattering it to get inside; it turned out to be a Xurkitree, sparking with excess electricity presumably stolen from the Tower itself.
Luckily, Leon had a ground type on him; he sent out Rhyperior and had it use High Horsepower.
It wasn’t enough to take out the Xurkitree, so a fight ensued.  There was a scary moment when the Xurkitree used Power Whip and nearly took out Rhyperior.  Luckily, the Xurikitree was on its last legs at that point, so you took the opportunity to throw a PokeBall at it before Rhyperior could be defeated.
And, it was caught with only one ball!  Seems you had an alien friend now…
Leon was a bit hesitant about keeping the Xurkitree; it was so different than other Pokemon, after all.  Would it be able to bond the same way?  But when that same Pokemon ended up protecting you against a different Ultra Beast in a separate attack, Leon was convinced it was fine to keep it.

Gale’s Top 8 Gym Leaders
Rules:
1. One per Region. For the sake of Alola, I will be picking between a Trial Captain or a Kahuna (I can pick a Kahuna as long as they are not an Elite 4 member)
2. If the gym leader was a champion or an Elite 4 member at any point, they don't count. So Iris, Wallace and Blue are not eligible for the list, as well as Koga.
3. This is my Personal opinion, and I have a bias.
4. I will be ranking the Gym Leaders based on their Game appearances only. Anime and Manga do not count.
______________________________________________________________________
8. Kiawe (Alola)
Tumblr media
The second trial captain on Akala island.
Honestly, while I love the change of pace with Trial captains instead of Gym leaders... it did feel like a huge piece was missing when playing through Sun and Moon. Kiawe provided a hilarious trial as well as what I found to be the most amusing Trial challenge.
He also just has the second coolest design.
(If not for my self imposed rules I would have picked Olivia but she is sadly an elite 4 member so I will pick one of her trial captains instead)
7. Clemont (Kalos)
Tumblr media
The electric Gym leader in the biggest city in Kalos. Lumiose City.
His gym has the most interesting gimmick, with a quiz show that made nostalgic for another genius Gym leader, but what set him apart and put him on this list was his dynamic with his little sister bonnie. The two are a delight when playing off each other and Clemont is actually a decent fight in the game, unless you have been spamming mega evolutions.
He also has a unique design with the backpack, and he is one of the few on this list hurt by the fact I am not putting anime appearances on here, since he is my third favorite companion for Ash.
6. Volkner (Sinnoh)
Tumblr media
The final step before the elite four.
Volkner is the Electric Gym leader of Sunyshore.
He is said to be strong enough to challenge the elite four. His personal Rival, Flint is a member of the Elite four.
At the time the trainer arrives, he has been on a winning streak where no one has been able to best him for a while and he found it super boring, when you talk to him he says that if he wins one more battle, he will go an challenge the Elite four.
His fight is also quite a tough bout regardless of which version you pick, his team is fast and has a lot of super effective moves, so if you think a few earthquakes will be enough to take him down, you best be packing some durable Pokemon.
He also just looks like a serious rival in an anime so its all the more fun to crush him.
5. Elesa (Unova)
Tumblr media
I have a crush on Elesa, Fight me.
Yes I know another Electric type Gym leader, but damn it they are the more interesting ones.
This model/ Gym leader of Nimbasa is a hella badass strong woman that will call out injustice anywhere she sees it.
She helps Bianca escape her a**hole father, Her first Gym is a roller coaster, then a Walk way!
She also Loves Puns! (Yes I am a simple man okay. Don't @ me)
She even goes through multiple costumes which is always a plus. Out of the rather mediocre line up of gym leaders in Unova, Elesa is a shocking change of pace.
4. Raihan (Galar)
Tumblr media
The dragon gym leader of Galar, and the undisputed Strongest Gym Leader in the region.
The guy exudes a swagger that gives off that he is hot s*** and he knows it.
He is considered by Leon himself to be his rival.
Even his trainer card says that if he wanted to he could easily be a champion of another region but stays in Galar so to one day best Leon.
Having battled his team, I can say that this isn't a BS statement. He uses weather teams.
The guy knows how to change up the weather and capitalize on a situation. His gym challenge is the hardest out off all of them because he knows how to use his Pokemon well.
He is an amazing final challenge before going to face off against the league challenge and the best battle before fighting Leon.
This was a VERY hard spot to pick, since I also adore Opal and Nessa (If I allowed Anime appearances, Nessa would be here instead of him because Nessa is amazing and deserves all the love )
But when it comes to strength, no one can top the strongest gym leader of Galar.
3. Jasmine (Johto)
The Steel Type Gym Leader of Olivine city.
The term Don't judge a book by its cover is the best example to  describe her.
Jasmine is a kind hearted soul that was nursing a Pokemon back to health at her first introduction.
She asks you to get the medicine and won't battle until the Pokemon in the light house is 100%
And its a good thing she does, because if you tried fighting her first, I doubt you would win. Her Steelix is a MASSIVE tank and you will need a strong water type if you want to stand a chance against it. She is also cute and she was my childhood self’s first Pokemon crush.
I still find her the most fun gym leader to meet. While not a difficulty spike like Whitney or an unfair cheat Like Clair.
Jasmine is a tough yet fair gym leader.
2. Norman
Tumblr media
The petalburg city gym leader, and most importantly. He is your in game Dad.
He is the fifth Gym leader in the game and you cant battle him until you have four gym badges. He is also arguably the toughest gym leader in the game at this point since his two Slakings could one shot most Pokemon unless you grinded like hell.
The emotional weight of the battle is what really brings it home. It is a clash, a father vs child moment in which you have to show your dad that you have surpassed him, that you are ready to be the best. That you are a true trainer.
He really does test everything you've learned up to this point, and thats what makes him so memorable.
1. Giovanni
Tumblr media
The leader of team Rocket, and the Viridian city Gym Leader.
The two sided man that tried to conquer the region.
Ground Giovanni.
By Games alone he is the most competent Villain, considering he created team Rainbow Rocket, which consisted of ALL the criminal organizations and their respective leaders who had succeeded in their respective universes.
Giovanni also stands as the final gym leader of your journey, your time in Kanto you always seemed to barely stop him, but he still is powerful and you always got the feeling he wasn't trying.
But then, when you get to the 8th gym, fighting the toughest gym trainers do you see, the boss of team Rocket, glaring at you.
The real final battle with him begins.
And that victory, which is your key to the indigo league, the defeat of his criminal empire, and your conclusive win.
Thats what makes Giovanni so powerful.
He was your real final test.
(Plus if we counted the manga, geez he is like 100x more epic. Seriously, if you have not read the Pokemon manga, READ IT. Its like Stand battles with Pokemon. Anything goes. It is nuts!)
