“Mary! Mary, the clothes are here, let’s open the box together!”
Your fiancé’s niece, practically daughter, immediately came rushing over to the front door, eyes wide with excitement. “Is Frank up in the nursery? Let’s look at everything up there, so he can see, too.” You told her with a smile, ruffling her pretty blonde hair as you picked up the package from the front steps. “Are you sure? You know he’s just going to complain about you spending too much money again.” The seven-year-old pointed out, and you laughed as you playfully made a face, nodding. “I know, but he’s going to have to get used to it, isn’t he? Babies aren’t cheap!”
Walking up the stairs of the new home the two of you had recently bought together, you turned into the first room on the left, right across from you and Frank’s room. The man was sitting on the floor, dutifully putting together your son’s crib, different parts scattered around him. “Are you sure you’re doing it right?” you nagged as you approached him, but the soft giggle afterwards told him you were only kidding; the man repaired boats as a living, so you were pretty certain he could manage a baby crib. “No. I have no idea if I’m doing it right, I’ve never even seen a toolbox in my life.” The native Bostonian drawled sarcastically, eyes still focused on the assembly before him. You laughed more, completely unfazed by his blunt attitude; it was one of the many reasons you had fallen for him to begin with, and considering you had never been the type to get offended easily, your relationship worked well. Frank had a habit of coming off as much ruder than he meant to be, but he was also incredibly straightforward and slightly gruff to begin with. He had a soft spot for you and Mary, and now, your son that was to be born in around three months.
“Alright, let’s open up this thing,” you said with a grin to Mary, plopping down on the floor a little further away from the busy man. Reaching over to grab a pair of scissors he had used to cut the crib’s packaging, you slid the sharp edge through the tape sealing the cardboard box, opening the flaps and already squealing in delight as you peered inside. “Oh my God. This is all so cute already.” Mary reached inside first, pulling out a tiny blue Ralph Lauren polo, a look of awe upon her features. “It’s so small! He’ll look so adorable in it!” she spoke proudly about the boy who would basically be her baby brother, her blue eyes gleaming with excitement. “And look!” you exclaimed, taking out a pair of small boat shoes, giggling lightly. “His style is going to be impeccable, Mary, I’m tellin’ ya.”
The two of you were squealing over a onesie decorated with tiny cartoon raccoon prints when Frank finally decided he was curious enough to know what was going on, pausing in his work and turning around with arched eyebrow. “The hell is all this?” he scoffed in amusement, eyes flickering over the small pile of clothes on the floor. “Babe, did you order the entire store?”
“How could I not, Frank? Look at this!” You pulled out yet another article of clothing, smiling widely. “Tell me this isn’t the cutest shortall you’ve ever seen!”
“I guess it is, because I have no idea what a “shortall” even is.” The male retorted with another scoff, but you could see that hint of fondness in his eyes as he gazed upon his son’s apparel, making you giggle as you moved closer to him to wrap your arms around him from the side in a koala bear fashion hug. “Oh, honey.” He clucked his tongue before you could even speak, looking down at you knowingly. “I know what this hug is. It’s the “I’m-going-to-shower-you-with-abnormal-amounts-of-affection” hug that comes along with telling me how much you maxed out my credit card.”
“Frank! I’ve never maxed out your credit card, don’t exaggerate.” You huffed with a roll of your eyes, but smiled at him cutely afterwards. “I spent ... about…. $250? That’s really not that bad, you have to admit.”
“Yeah, Evelyn spends way more on me!” Mary pointed out in an attempt to help defend you, referring to Frank’s ridiculously wealthy mother. The man sighed, standing up though playfully scooping you up with him, eliciting a happy giggle from your lips as he shook his head. “Evelyn is not a valid person to be compared to in this situation, and at least she’s spending her money on a child who has actually been born already.” Suddenly looking at Mary with his naturally stern expression, he ordered, “Out of the room. Go play outside or go over to Roberta’s or something, I need to talk to this little brat for a sec.”
You blinked, watching as Mary turned and left before looking to him innocently. “Am I in trouble, Daddy?” you questioned in the silkiest voice you could muster, and a low scoff escaped his lips as he swatted at your ass, replying, “You’re going to be if you keep talking like that, baby girl.” He carried you over to the changing table, sitting you down and standing in between your legs. “Frank, if this is about my spending, I promise I’ll ease up I just--” you started to say, but he cut you off, pressing his lips against yours as he lovingly rubbed your baby bump. “I just wanted some alone time with my sexy girl,” he admitted in a husky voice against your lips, moving his mouth down to pepper your neck in kisses. “Honestly? I love seeing you already wanting to spoil our little man, princess. It’s cute when you’re such a fucking spoiled brat.” He smirked as he briefly glanced up at you, pulling at your skin with his teeth.
You whimpered softly but gave him a playfully hopeful expression. “Does that mean--”
“No, you still aren’t allowed to max out my credit card.” He scoffed, and you made a face as you corrected, “Our credit card, thank you very much, we’re in this together now.” He blinked and chuckled, returning his lips to yours to peck them sweetly. “You’re right, sweetheart. And now, Daddy’s going to be bringing a little more money home to help further spoil our two beautiful children ...”
You blinked, taking his face in your hands to make him properly look at you. “What do you mean by that?” you questioned, suspicious and curious at the same time. “Are you a stripper now or something?”
“What-- no, babe, God no.” He rolled his eyes but kissed your cheek, moving his head to mutter in your ear, “I’ve been working on something for a while now… I didn’t want to tell you anything until I was positive it would work out, and now, I am.” Taking out his phone from his pocket, he pulled up a photo and showed you, barely biting his lip. You had to squint because of his old school flip phone-- typical Frank Adler, completely uninterested in new and modern technology-- but once you realized what the image was, your eyes widened.
“Is this… is this yours, Frank?”
“Sure is, doll. And it’s going to officially be open for business next month.”
You squealed in delight as you wrapped your arms around him, feeling pure happiness and excitement for his hard work and endeavors. “Your own repair shop, Frank? You’ve been wanting this forever! How did you…”
“A friend from the bar was renting out a space he owned, he offered it to me discounted because it was a little shabby and no one was interested. I’ve been fixing it up for the past few months, got that sign ordered… and, well, that’s the whole picture you just saw. Frank’s Boat Repair. Nice and simple, gets the job done.”
You were too thrilled to even playfully roast him for such a plain name, though you knew it was exactly his style. He wasn’t one to be extravagant, he didn’t care for material things or having items-- he was a simple man who loved his work, his niece, his fiancée, his one eyed cat, and his newest child. Hugging him even tighter, you kissed him lovingly as you murmured, “I’m so happy for you, babe, this is amazing.” You playfully tapped his nose, adding, “And I’m too happy to yell at you for keeping this from me, so well played, Adler.” He chuckled softly and brought himself down, now face-to-face with your belly as he pressed his lips against the swelled curve. “Mm, don’t worry little man, I’ll teach you all the ways to get out of being in trouble with your high maintenance mother. You’ll practically be a pro by the time you’re out of there.” You rolled your eyes, playfully whacking his head. “I am not high maintenance. You know you wouldn’t have proposed to me if I was.”
He smiled as he rolled his eyes-- a typical reaction in this household-- standing up straight again and leaning down to kiss you more slowly and passionately. “Mm. I would have. Because there are way too many reasons to be with you for the rest of my life than there are reasons not to be.”
You smiled as you kissed your fiance back, wrapping both your arms and legs around him and letting yourself melt into his hold, mumbling, “I love you, Frank.”
“I love you too, Princess.”

April 2020 Book Review - Quarantine Brain Fry Edition
This month of quarantine was much more challenging for me that last March... I suppose because we’re really in the throws of it, and the “extended spring break” feel has worn off. Between general World Anxieties and the incredible challenges of trying to adapt my work into an online setting, my brain has been absolute mush -- and I have a feeling I’m not the only one. Most of my books this month are either very easy reads (comics and children’s novels) or rereads or both! Honestly, I’ve been playing a lot more Animal Crossing than I have been reading...
So the theme for this month of reading? Treat your brain to a rest, and go reread that favourite comic or picture book or graphic novel from when you were a kid. We don’t have libraries or book stores at the moment, so dig deep into your shelf for something you love that you haven’t touched in a while. Here’s what I read:
Ghost Hunters Adventure Club and the Mystery of the Grande Chateau
I’m going to start with best and most unexpected book that I read this month (although this is actually a New Book and not a reread, so maybe it’s a bad start). It’s a Hardy Boys parody novel, and yes it’s by the Game Grumps. The only reason I even found out it existed was because my brother heard about it and we decided that this would be our next Sibling Read Aloud. It made a great read aloud. I was rather skeptical at first, but it was genuinely very clever and very, very funny. There characters were fucking delightful, as they bumbled their way through the mystery, and we ended up accidentally reading almost half the book in one sitting because we couldn’t put it down once we got to endgame. If you like satire and Classic Youth Mystery then do yourself a favour and give this a go. I am desperate for a sequel.
ISHI: Simple Tips from a Solid Friend
A picture book that was recommended to some of the local elementary children who are dealing with isolation from school and their friends. Its beauty is in its simplicity. It shows Ishi, a very simple white stone, experience challenges that it must then find ways to cope with. Things like loneliness, feeling empty or scared, being sad... all things children (and adults, I very much appreciated this little story) may be experiencing. This is definitely a picture book, not a self-help book, but it’s still very encouraging and makes me want to go and create my own Ishi. There’s a reading of it is online, and if you’re feeling like having a solid stone friend reassure you, I would recommend going to listen to it!
Bone 1-5
So, the first in my long list of books that I reread: I’ve started rereading the Bone series for the first time in years. Hands down one of my all time favourite graphic novel series. If you haven’t read Bone, it’s a classic and one of the best example of American graphic novels imho. It’s about Fone Bone and his cousins who, after being driven out of Boneville by Phoney Bone’s money-grubbling stunts, have found themselves across a desert and in a strange, fantastical valley where nothing makes sense. The three of them get drawn into the strange mysteries and adventures of Thorn, her grandmother, and the village of Barrelhaven. Such a perfect blend of beautiful art, comedy and off-the-wall cartoon-level hijinks, as well as really intense, dark adventure and tension as the story unfolds.
Also created this sequence, which may be the funniest two panels ever drawn in a comic
Here Is Greenwood v1
A charming ‘90s manga from my stash that I decided to reread. Honestly one of my favourite feel-good mangas, because it’s such a simple, pure, good-hearted slice of life without some of the gimmicks that other manga use. It’s about Kazuya starting at an all-boys school partway into the year, and moving into the school’s dorms. The entire book is just about him being constantly pestered by the well-meaning characters that share the dorm with him. It’s just goofy and fun, and has the fantastic aesthetic of a good ‘90s manga. Also, it was one of those books that, while technically not ~queer~ was also ~queer enough~ for my deprived teenage soul.
Blood Of Elves
The fourth book of the Witcher series that I’ve finished. I’ll be honest, not my favourite. I really enjoyed the beginning, the whole espionage thing with Dandelion, and then Ciri with Geralt, the Kaer Morhen witchers, and Triss. That was all really fun. It felt like it dragged a lot more though after Ciri joined Yennefer... And yet I love Yennefer as a character, she is hilariously snide and clever and really sweet with Ciri. But it felt like a scene that could have been done in a couple chapters took up half the book. Maybe that’s just because, as I said, my brain was mush and I couldn’t deal with it. I have the next book and as soon as my brain doesn’t look like chicken noodle soup anymore I will be starting it!
The Mouse and the Motorcycle
You know I love a good animal adventure story, and this is one that I adored as a child. The story of Ralph, a young mouse living with his family in a rundown motel, and how he and a young human boy discover that they can understand each other through a shared passion for vehicles... in particular a red toy motorcycle. There’s just something heartwarming about Ralph racing around a motel on a tiny toy motorcycle that runs when he makes motorcycles noises. I’ll have to find the second one as soon as libraries are open again.
Kit: The Adventures of a Raccoon
Another animal adventure story from my childhood, although this one is more of a chapter book than a true novel. This is a book that I’ve been lowkey hunting for years and finally came across in a school library. It’s a more realistic look at what a raccoon’s life is like, from birth to adulthood. Rereading it, it’s not a particularly exciting book and wouldn’t have otherwise stood out to me, but there’s still something that calls to me. It’s very gentle and makes this raccoon’s growing and learning feel very soft and compassionate, even if there are tragedies and death.
A quick edit because it was only just now that I realized that this is a Canadian lit book! Always exciting to discover that a favourite is Canadian!
Calvin and Hobbes: Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat
Calvin and Hobbes, yet one more bullet to add to the list of Comfort Comics that I’ve pulled out to keep my mind entertained while I can’t quite process Proper Novels. I doubt there’s anything I can say about Calvin and Hobbes that hasn’t already been said. You’ve either read these books already, and are nodding along with me, or you haven’t and therefore are not a human being I can relate to.
Spy vs Spy
I dug out some of the old Spy vs Spy comics we had as kids. They’re basically falling to pieces, but it was fun -- like so many other books on this list -- to revisit something so familiar but which I haven’t looked at in years. These were a very odd experience to reread, because on one hand Spy vs Spy comics have such a simple, goofy premise it’s hard not to just grin and laugh while you read them, but also like... yup they sure are old and kinda ~problematique~ eh? Whatcha gonna do.
The Twisted Ones
The read aloud my brother and I did before Ghost Hunters, although we technically finished reading it at the very end of March, but too late for it to make that book roundup post. Look, I’m not going to defend myself here. Yes, I’ve read an obscene number of Five Nights at Freddy’s books. The first one of this series The Silver Eyes was honestly better than I would have expected. This sequel was not as good, unsurprisingly, but the main character is still so fucking bizarre, so different than the sort of protagonist I would normally expect from a series like this, that I can’t quite bring myself to stop reading them. And when I had a moment of Realization, about what might be in store for the third book, I genuinely screamed at my brother who was reading at the time. So yes. Somehow this youth horror is better than it has any right to be -- not good but better than it should be -- and yes I will be reading the third the second the libraries open again.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Another reread! This was a book I got as a birthday present when I was in... probably preschool? It’s a cross between a large picture book and a chapter book. It’s essentially a “novelization” of the original Disney movie, and it has such cute art to go along with it. Winnie the Pooh has always been a favourite of mine, and reading this old book was like a warm hug. Makes me want to see if I can get my VCR set up so I can watch that old movie again...
Frog and Toad Together
A friend found someone reading this book in a very asmr-style on youtube and recommended I listen because they found it super chill. And they were right! It is ridiculously chill. I’ve never read a Frog and Toad story before, but it’s really just a very cute old book that immediately launches you right back into grade one.
The BFG
This is my first time reading the BFG and it has all of Dahl’s usual charm and quirkiness. A young girl gets plucked out of an abusive orphanage by the Big Friendly Giant, who brings her to the terrifying Land Of Giants... all of which are bigger and crueller than the BFG, and who have an appetite for human flesh. It was quick and fun, and it’s always hard not to fall in love with Dahl’s sweet characters, especially this big eared, dream-catching giant.

In your fic Simon and Rupert are technicians. How about a fic about the weirdest things they've seen on duty?
Sometimes even advanced androids do the weirdest stupidest things, and honestly those are the highlight of Simon's and Rupert's job as technicians.
The work of a technician often came with heartbreak. Post-Revolution androids would come in with all sorts of horrific injuries after enduring unspeakable abuse and violence.
For the most part, Simon and Rupert had gotten used to it.
As the most experienced temporary technicians at the tower, they had continued to offer their services to aid New Jericho whenever the medical ward was swamped with cases. The new staff was good, but some things required some improvisation and quick thinking. Street-smarts helped with that sort of thing.
All doom and gloom aside, there were moments where androids did come in with less gory injuries and more peculiar predicaments.
Those were perhaps sometimes the highlight of their job.
At least Simon thought so when someone walked it looking guilty and sporting an odd injury from a bizarre activity or guilty pleasure, or even from accidentally getting themselves into a bit of a pickle.
That's why, while he and Rupert were cleaning Ralph's facial scarring (a job that required a lot of patience and care so as to not scare the fidgety WR600) Simon couldn't help burst out in laughter when Josh had to help carry Markus into the medical ward.
"What the hell?" Rupert gawked while Simon laughed at the sight. Ralph seemed very surprised as well, opening and closing his mouth in awe looking very much like a gasping fish.
Markus appeared to be wedged inside a vent. A vent that Josh had pulled out from a wall and carried all the way up to their floor while the RK200 kept his reddened face low.
"One of the YK500s dropped their doll in a vent. Our fearless leader here, thought the smartest thing to do was try to climb in and get it." Josh explained, trying not to giggles between sentences. "He uh, got a little stuck because if his... Volumptous assets."
"Oh my RA9, are you saying Markus got stuck because he's dummy thicc?!" Simon doubled over and howled with laughter while Josh snorted loudly and tried to hide the smile on his face. Markus whined in protest.
"I'm not thick!"
"With all due respect, dat ass says otherwise." Rupert snorted. "That poor vent..."
"Ahah... Very funny. Please just, just get me out! This is very uncomfortable." Markus tried to shift positions, but his arms were pinned and he could barely move his legs.
"Ok yeah. Hang on I'll get a saw..." Rupert looked at Ralph "We're not done with you yet, so don't go sneaking off."
"Ralph would like to stay and see the outcome. This reminds him of when he saw a fat raccoon get stuck in a window in his old home." The gardener smiled.
Simon knelt down besides Markus's face and tried to see how badly he was wedged. He whistled when he noticed he'd pinned one arm back while the other stretched forwards.
"Did you really not realize you'd not fit through?"
"I was busy trying to grab the doll... Then it just kind of set in that I couldn't move." The RK200 sighed in embarrassment and defeat. He was never going to hear the end of this when word got out.
"If it makes you feel better, Connor came by an hour ago with his head stuck in a pipe. Apparently his coin fell into the sink and he tried to get it back..." The PL600 grinned "Rupert had a good laugh."
"How did he get his head in a sink pipe?!"
"Hank tells the story better. When we get you out, you can ask him about-- Oh my god North where are your hands?!"
Josh turned to look at the door, positioning the vent in a way that Markus could see.
North had just stumbled in with two bloodied stumps where her hands should be. She didn't look all that bothered, but Daniel (who'd been the one to bring her to the tower) looked very unamused and was mumbling about some androids just not having common sense when it came to household appliances.
"Funny story. It involves a ring and the garbage disposal at Carl's..."
"Is everyone just dropping things where they shouldn't today?!" Josh shifted the vent again so that he could pinch the bridge of his nose while he propped his cargo against his hip. Markus yelped at the slightly tilted angle.
"That also reminds Ralph of another less fun time a critter got stuck somewhere in his home!"
Simon sighed.
Time to get back to work then...

Archive Project - January 7, 2014 - Most Anticipated 2014
Onto Day 3 of the First Annual Hummy Awards! To paraphrase Moviebob, 2014 looks like it's going to be the year filmmaking forgets. 2015 is shaping up to be the biggest year in film… well maybe ever. Major Blockbuster movies like: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode VII, Man of Steel 2, Ant-Man, Jurassic World, Fantastic Four and Fast & Furious 7 will be hitting the big screens. This year is the red carpet to next year's big Blockbuster Blowout but from the looks of it, it will be a fun walk into 2015!
Here I have assembled a list of some of this years biggest movies! Lets see what 2014 has to offer!
—————————————————————————————————————————
Upcoming Films in the Immediate Future! ————————————————————————————————————————— Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit 1/17 Hunt for Red October is one of my favorite books and movies! An awesome cold war espionage tale with a message on Soviet Communism. In the next two weeks we will be given a reboot of Red October's main character, Jack Ryan with Chris Pine dealing with his first mission. Given the circumstances of this movie I don't expect something great but i'm assuming if it is successful it will be the means of jumpstarting a franchise. Lets see where this goes…
I, Frankenstein 1/24
Justice League: War 2/4 Warner Bros Animation has been on a roll lately with it's animated movies: The Dark Knight Returns, Superman Unbound and The Flashpoint Paradox. I have a lot of confidence with them as they do the origin of the Justice League on this straight to video adaption!
The Monuments Men 2/7 Really cool concept and a lot of talent being put into this movie. Definitely worth a look!
The Lego Movie 2/7 This seems dumb, but also very awesome! CGI animation being made to look like LEGOs, from the animation team that made Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and that appears to be genuinely funny. Sign me up!
Robocop 2/12 Robocop is a classic. Rebooting it is probably a bad idea. This could go either way but i'm still excited to see this!
Son of God 2/28 The Bible really is a good source for potential storytelling for film. Unfortunately not a lot of movies about them get made. This one slipped through the cracks and it appears to be pretty interesting!
Mr. Peabody and Sherman 3/7 This movie offends my childhood on a deep personal level. I grew up watching Rock and Bullwinkle cartoons. THAT BEING SAID. It can't be worse than the Rock and Bullwinkle movie and if it's at least funny I MIGHT give it a pass.
Grand Budapest Hotel 3/7
Need for Speed 3/14 A movie adaption of a video game that isn't really story driven that looks surprisingly similar to Fast and Furious. Lets see...
Muppets Most Wanted 3/21 Your thoughts on this movie begin and end with the title...
Noah 3/28 Speaking of Bible movies.. Who's up for a little blasphemy? Russell Crowe apparently..
Captain America: Winter Soldier 4/4 YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.
Heaven is for Real 4/16 Based on the, i'm assuming, successful book, this Christian film looks to be a pretty cool drama with a lot of heart!
Transcendence 4/25 Johnny Dep is in this movie and it's not Jack Sparrow. Thats about all you need to know.
Earth to Echo 4/-- We don't know much about this film yet other than the title and general release date but it sounds pretty awesome!
—————————————————————————————————————————
Blockbuster Season 2014 ————————————————————————————————————————— Amazing Spiderman 2 5/2 I'm a vocal detractor of the first film as a movie that exists only to keep the rights to Spiderman movies from going back to Marvel and that it heavily ripped off a lot from Batman Begins and Twilight (to paraphrase Moviebob, once again..). This movie doesn't look all that great but its a Spiderman movie and i'd at least say its worth seeing once.
Godzilla 5/16 HOLY CRAP THE TRAILER IS AWESOME!!
X-Men: Days of Future Past 5/23 The X-Men movie's current mission statement is the wipe away X-Men Last Stand and X-Men Origins out of the movie's canon and it appears that this movie is one of the last steps to fulfilling the mission they set in X-Men First Class. I'm very excited for this!
A Million Ways to Die in the West 5/30 If your a fan of Family Guy and Ted than this is a movie that should interest you! Seth MacFarlane directs and stars in this comedy-western, along side Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson and Neil Patrick Harris.
Malieficent 5/30 Live action prequel into Disney's classic Sleeping Beauty? Hmm. Interesting.
Edge of Tomorrow 6/6 Tom Cruise stars in an action movie….. YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!
How to Train Your Dragon 2 6/13 This is one of the coolest concepts to a sequel i've heard in a long time! The first movie is a great animated film and i'm very excited for this!
Transformers Age of Extinction 6/27 LeBuff is gone! The transformers are redesigned! The Dinobots are showing up! If we are lucky this should at least match the quality of the first Transformers movie!
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 7/11 Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a surprisingly great movie that in hindsight shouldn't have worked as well as it did. It ended up being one of the most notable Science Fiction films of this decade and a well done character drama. And now we get a direct sequel that ties that movie in with the classic Planet of the Apes movies! Thats something to get excited about!
Guardians of the Galaxy 8/1
SPACE AVENGERS! If the end credits scene in Thor: Dark World was any indication, this movie will be one of the most insane things ever put to film. Its the biggest risk Marvel has taken since The Avengers and some of the characters, despite their comic book origins, seem too weird for any film out of context: namely Vin Diesel as Groot the Tree and a Raccoon that runs around with Rocket Launchers!
TMNT 8/8 If I cared about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles i'd probably be offended by this. Whatever, this film is set to be a very notable film in any case.
—————————————————————————————————————————
Fall 2014 ————————————————————————————————————————— Intersteller 11/7 Christopher Nolan is a great director and this film looks to be his most original film since Inception and as his first venture after the conclusion of the Dark Knight Trilogy, its definitely notable!
Big Hero 6 11/7 Disney's first take at an animated Marvel movie! In the wake of Frozen and Wreck it Ralph, I could not be more excited!!
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 11/21 I really liked Catching Fire and i'm excited to see how the series plans to start finishing it's story.
The Hobbit: There and Back Again 12/17 Finally ending 2014 with a bang is the long awaited third part to Peter Jackson's trilogy based off of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein. If you DON'T know why this is a big deal than I DEMAND you go check out the first two Hobbit movies RIGHT NOW. Watch Lord of the Rings while your at it!!
—————————————————————————————————————————
And my personal pick for most anticipated movie of 2014 is…
of course..
Captain America: The Winter Soldier!!
Based on the famed Winter Soldier arc from the more recent Captain America Comic books, the choice of bringing the Winter Soldier into the Marvel universe brings forth a lot of interesting possibilities for upcoming stories concerning Captain America and their universe. This movie has me more excited than any other this year!
Runner-Up: Guardians of the Galaxy

It is one of the Fine Arts: I had almost said, the finest of Fine Arts. – Florence Nightingale Nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation as any painter’s or sculptor’s work. – Florence Nightingale • Nursing is great for so many reasons, but there is one reason that means more than any poll results, amount of money, or job security: Nurses make a difference. – Brittney Wilson • Nursing is one of the Fine Arts: I had almost said, the finest of Fine Arts. – Florence Nightingale • nursing was regarded as simply an extension of the unpaid services performed by the housewife – a characteristic attitude that haunts the profession to this day. – Gerda Lerner • O sleep, O gentle sleep, Nature’s soft nurse, how have I frightened thee, 1710. That thou no more will weigh my eyelids down, And steep my senses in forgetfulness? – William Shakespeare • Oh, those women! They nurse and cuddle their presentiments, and make darlings of their ugliest thoughts. – William Makepeace Thackeray • Okay. Now my skin is really prickling. I’ve read all the Harry Potter books, all five of them. I don’t remember any half-blood prince. “What’s this?” Trying to sound casual, I point at the ad, “What’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?” “That’s the latest book,” Garth the other trainee, says. “It came out ages ago.” I can’t help gasping. “There’s a sixth Harry Potter?” “There’s a seventh out soon!” Diana steps forward eagerly. “And guess what happens at the end of book six-” “Shh!” exclaims Nicole, the other nurse. “Don’t tell her! – Sophie Kinsella • On April 2, the nurses started my first round of five intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) infusions. The clear IV bags hung on a metal pole above my head, their liquid trickling down into my vein. Each of those ordinary-looking bags contained the healthy antibodies of over a thousand blood donors and cost upwards of $20,000 per infusion. One thousand tourniquets, one thousand nurses, one thousand veins, one thousand blood-sugar regulating cookies, all just to help one patient. – Susannah Cahalan • Our globe discovers its bidden virtues, not only in heroes and arch-angels, but in gossips and nurses. – Ralph Waldo Emerson • Panic plays no part in the training of a nurse. – Elizabeth Kenny • People that work in a business are likely to date somebody that is in the same business. If you are a doctor, you might go out with one of the nurses. Or if you’re a bank teller, you may go out with one of the bankers. – Lita Ford • Really, a young Atheist cannot guard his faith too carefully. Dangers lie in wait for him on every side. You must not do, you must not even try to do, the will of the Father unless you are prepared to “know of the doctrine.” All my acts, desires, and thoughts were to be brought into harmony with universal Spirit. For the first time I examined myself with a seriously practical purpose. And there I found what appalled me; a zoo of lusts, a bedlam of ambitions, a nursery of fears, a harem of fondled hatreds. My name was legion. – C. S. Lewis • Religions are often state-protected nurseries of pseudoscience, although there’s no reason why religions have to play that role. In a way, it’s an artefact from times long gone. – Carl Sagan • Requiring military hospitals to perform elective abortions exposes the physicians, the nurses, the military personnel to move against their own personal convictions of life in many cases. – Rick Renzi • Right, well, he’d been sick for a while and his nurse said to him, ‘You seem to be feeling better this morning,’ and Isben looked at her and said, ‘On the contrary,’ and then he died. – John Green • See the hand that nursed the serpent. The fine hasped pipes of her fingerbones. The skin bewenned and speckled. The veins are milkblue and bulby. A thin gold ring set with diamonds. That raised the once child’s heart of her to agonies of passion before I was. Here is the anguish of mortality. Hopes wrecked, love sundered. See the mother sorrowing. How everything that I was warned of’s come to pass. – Cormac McCarthy • She bought seeds and raided nurseries and mulched and composted and spent full days with her hands full of earth, coaxing life our of the dry, dull grass my father had spent years pushing a mower over. – Sarah Dessen • She had to live in this bright, red gabled house with the nurse until it was time for her to die… I thought how little we know about the feelings of old people. Children we understand, their fears and hopes and make-believe. • She pulled the bedclothes up as far as they would go and suppressed a perverse wish to have her old nurse come to chase away the darkness, perverse because she didn’t know if she wanted the shadows to be empty or not. – Megan Whalen Turner • She would always feel this wild girl was the truest of any of the people she had already been: adored daughter, bourgeois priss, rebel, runaway, dope-fiend San Francisco hippie; or all the people she would later be: mother, nurse, religious fanatic, prematurely old woman. Vivienne was a human onion, and when I came home at twenty eight years old on the day the monster died, I was afraid that the Baptist freak she had peeled down to was her true, acrid, tear-inducing core. – Lauren Groff • Sister Mary was a nurse and nurses, whatever their creed, are primarily nurses, which had a lot to do with wearing your watch upside down, keeping calm in emergencies, and dying for a cup of tea. – Terry Pratchett • So many nurses had turned into emotionally disturbed handmaidens of the war, in their yellow-and-crimson uniforms with bone buttons. – Michael Ondaatje • Some are reputed sick and some are not. It often happens that the sicker man is the nurse to the sounder. – Henry David Thoreau • Some people think that doctors and nurses can put scrambled eggs back into the shell. – Dorothy Canfield Fisher • Sooner strangle an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires. – William Blake • Stop the nurse like the monkey. – Jeff Lindsay • Take care, Jeffy. I’ll see you soon, right? Just remember not to throw food at the nurses. I don’t want to get any complaint calls, OK? Steven, I don’t throw food at…oh, that was a joke, right? Yup, buddy boy. It was a joke. But seriously, no kissing the nurses on the lips, either. It messes up their makeup. Eeeeeeewwwww! – Jordan Sonnenblick • That’s why I stand here tonight. Because for two hundred and thirty two years, at each moment when that promise was in jeopardy, ordinary men and women – students and soldiers, farmers and teachers, nurses and janitors – found the courage to keep it alive. – Barack Obama • The American dream is about achieving happiness. When you become a fire fighter, a police officer or a teacher or a nurse, you know you’re not going to become a billionaire. And what my parents achieved working as a bartender and a maid at a hotel after arriving here with nothing, no education, no money. The first words my dad learned in English where I’m looking for a job.You know what my parents achieved? They owned a home in a safe and stable neighborhood. They retired with dignity and they left all four of their children better off than themselves. – Marco Rubio • The best parenting advice I ever got was from a labor nurse who told me the following: 1. After your baby gets here, the dog will just be a dog. 2. The terrible twos last through age three. 3. Never ask your child an open-ended question, such as “Do you want to go to bed now?” You won’t want to hear the answer, believe me. “Do you want me to carry you upstairs, or do you want to walk upstairs to go to bed?” That way, you get the outcome you want and they feel empowered. – Jodi Picoult • The billionaires pay an effective tax rate lower than nurses or truck drivers. That makes no sense at all. There has to be real tax reform, and the wealthiest and large corporations will pay. – Bernie Sanders • The character of a nurse is just as important as the knowledge he/she possesses. – Carolyn Jarvis • The doctors may be mapping out the war games, but it is the nurses who make the conflict bearable. – Jodi Picoult • The idea that boys want to sleep with their mothers strikes most men as the silliest thing they have ever heard. Obviously, it did not seem so to Freud, who wrote that as a boy he once had an erotic reaction to watching his mother dressing. But Freud had a wet-nurse, and may not have experienced the early intimacy that would have tipped off his perceptual system that Mrs. Freud was his mother. The Westermarck theory has out-Freuded Freud. – Steven Pinker The most important practical lesson than can be given to nurses is to teach them what to observe. – Florence Nightingale • The most work he did on [the urinals] was to run a brush once or twice apiece, singing some song as loud as he could in time to the swishing brush; then he’d splash in some Clorox and he’d be through. … And when the Big Nurse…came in to check McMurphy’s cleaning assignment personally, she brought a little compact mirror and she held it under the rim of the bowls. She walked along shaking her head and saying, “Why, this is an outrage… an outrage…” at every bowl. McMurphy sidled right along beside her, winking down his nose and saying in answer, “No; that’s a toilet bowl…a TOILET bowl. – Ken Kesey • The nurse is temporarily the consciousness of the unconscious, the love of life of the suicidal, the leg of the amputee, the eyes of the newly blind, a means of locomotion for the newborn , knowledge and confidence for the young mother, a voice for those too weak to speak, and so on. – Virginia Henderson • The nurse of full-grown souls is solitude. – James Russell Lowell • The nursery rhyme ends when a spider comes along and frightens Miss Muffet straight off her tuffet. I have wondered about what kind of lesson this is for a young girl. If you’re eating your curds and whey and a spider comes along, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with picking up a newspaper, smashing it, and going back to your breakfast. – Sloane Crosley • The nurses were all angels in my eyes. – Randy Castillo • The nurses, I have already learned, are the ones who give us the answers we’re desperate for. Unlike the doctors, who fidget like they need to be somewhere else, the nurses patiently answer us as if we are the first set of parents to ever have this kind of meeting with them, instead of the thousandth. – Jodi Picoult • The plot is so tired that even this reviewer, who in infancy was let drop by a nurse with the result that she has ever since been mystified by amateur coin tricks, was able to guess the identity of the murderer from the middle of the book. – Dorothy Parker • The pretty nurse had just injected her with something that totally rocked, and if she wanted to think about boinking a bronzed, tattooed, impossibly handsome doctor who was so far out of her league she need a telescope to see him, then screw it. Screw him. Over and over. – Larissa Ione • The trained nurse has become one of the great blessings of humanity, taking a place beside the physician and the priest. – William Osler • The world that used to nurse us now keeps shouting inane instructions. That’s why I ran to the woods. – Jim Harrison • There is no human relationship more intimate than that of nurse and patient, one in which the essentials of character are more rawly revealed. – Dorothy Canfield Fisher • There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something tomorrow. – Orison Swett Marden • There is not much you can say about a baby unless you are talking with its father or another mother or nurse; infants are not part of the realm of ordinary language, talk is inadequate to them as they are inadequate to talk. – Ursula K. Le Guin • This will sound like I grew up on another planet, except for those people who are past 55, 60 maybe. When I was growing up, my mother and her generation basically felt that you should only work as a way of passing time until you got married and had at least two children. And the only careers that were open for women at the time was teacher or nurse – which are fantastic careers, I mean fantastic and I actually am a former math teacher. – Sherry Lansing • Time is the nurse and breeder of all good. – William Shakespeare • Time, that aged nurse, Rocked me to patience. – John Keats • TO ALL THE ambulance drivers firewatchers air-raid wardens nurses canteen workers airplane spotters rescue workers mathematicians vicars vergers shopgirls chorus girls librarians debutantes spinsters fishermen retired sailors servants evacuees Shakespearean actors and mystery novelists WHO WON THE WAR. – Connie Willis • to feed, help, protect, comfort, console, support, nurse, or heal to be fed, helped, nursed, protected, comforted, consoled, supported, nursed, or healed to form mutually enjoyable, enduring, cooperating and reciprocating relationship with Other, with an equal to be forgiven to be loved to be free – Sarah Kane • Too much sadness hath congealed your blood, and melancholy is the nurse of frenzy. – William Shakespeare • Um, Dr. Alexander, there’s a couple out here who say they’re related to you. They…um…they’re biker people. (Nurse) Hey, Julian. Tell Attila the Hun here that we’re okay so we can come and ooh and aah over the babies. (Eros) – Sherrilyn Kenyon • We are all of us obliged, if we are to make reality endurable, to nurse a few little follies in ourselves. – Marcel Proust • We are talking about one of the greatest threats of all. But people can stand up to the school nurse; you can stand up to the teacher; you can stand up to the principal; you can stand up to them with the facts and the right books. – Michael Savage • We cannot be secure by limiting our liberties, as some of our political leaders are demanding, but only by expanding themWe should take our example not from the military and political leaders shouting ‘retaliate’ and ‘war’ but from the doctors and nurses and firemen and policemen who have been saving lives in the midst of mayhem, whose first thoughts are not violence, but healing, and not vengeance, but compassion. – Howard Zinn • We got a commitment that 3 million nurses are going to be trained to better identify these signs [of PTSD], because, you know, when these troops come home and they become veterans and they go back into the civilian community, they’re not always going through the VA system for medical care. They’re going to show up at community hospitals and clinics. – Michelle Obama • We know how to be doctors, nurses, lawyers. We know how to be tweeters. We know how to be everything. But how do you just be people? How do you be present with one another? How do you be honest with one another? How do you be compassionate towards one another, forgiving towards one another? We know what to do. We don’t know what to be, how to be. – Iyanla Vanzant • We were equals once when we lay new-born babes on our nurse’s knees. We will be equal again when they tie up our jaws for the last sleep. – Olive Schreiner • We’ll bury our mothers and fathers – shuttling our children off for sleepovers, jumping on red-eyes, telling eachother stories that hurt to hear, about gasping, agonal breaths, hospice nurses, scars and bruises and scabs, and how skin papers shortly after a person passes. We will nod in agreement that it is as much an honor to witness a person leave this world as it is to watch a person come into it. – Kelly Corrigan • What if she stepped on a needle and it went right into her foot and Roberta would not feel it and the needle would rise and rise and rise through the veins leading up to the heart and then the needle would STAB HER IN THE HEART and Roberta would DIE and it would be VERY PAINFUL this according to nurse mother a medical expert on Freaky Ways to Croak… The mother shouted that she knew several people who died from the Rising Stab of the Unfelt Needle or RSUN she has seen cases of it many times and not ONE PERSON HAS SURVIVED IT. – Lynda Barry • When I was in nursery school, the teachers asked me, y’know, ‘What does your dad do for a living?’ So I said ‘He helps women get pregnant!’ They called my mom and they were like, ‘What exactly does your husband do?’ – Natalie Portman • When I was in the hospital they gave me apple juice every morning, even after I told them I didn’t like it. I had to get even. One morning, I poured the apple juice into the specimen tube. The nurse held it up and said, ‘It’s a little cloudy.’ I took the tube from her and said, ‘Let me run it through again,’ and drank it. The nurse fainted. – Alan King • When less than four years old I was standing with my nurse, Mary Ward, watching the shadows on the wall from branches of an elm behind which the moon had risen. I have never forgot those shadows and am often trying to paint them. – Samuel Palmer • When you hold a child to your breast to nurse, the curve of the little head echoes exactly the curve of the breast it suckles, as though this new person truly mirrors the flesh from which it sprang. – Diana Gabaldon • When you nurse a grudge it is not good for your health. – Desmond Tutu • When you see those in healthcare who don’t get this burn-out, they are very motherly, fatherly, or loving and attentive with the patients. [These] wonderful caretakers, doctors, and nurses don’t get as much burn-out as people who are more defensive of the feelings and suffering of others. – Matthieu Ricard • Where’s Lori?” he asked when he saw the nurse wasn’t there. “She’s not avoiding me, is she?” His grandmother slipped off her glasses, put down her book and stared at him. “Amazingly enough, the whole world doesn’t revolve around you, Reid. Lori’s sister is sick and Lori took her to the doctor. She’ll be back in an hour or so. Can you survive on your own until then, or should I call 9-1-1 for emergency assistance? – Susan Mallery • White… is death. It’s hospitals. It’s my terrible nurses. White is absolute horror. It is just the worst. – Joan Mitchell • Wholesome solitude, the nurse of sense! – Alexander Pope • Why do you mention my father?’ screamed he; ‘Why do you mingle a recollection of him with the affairs of today?’ Because I am he who saved your father’s life when he wished to destroy himself, as you do today-because I am the man who sent the purse to your young sister, and the Paraon to Old Morrel-because I am the Edmond Dantes who nursed you, a child, on my knees. – Alexandre Dumas • You can’t change laws without first changing human nature.’ -Nurse Greta You can’t change human nature without first changing the law.’ -Nurse Yvonne – Neal Shusterman • You either fainted or you wanted a much closer look at the cracks in the tile. Either way, you hit hard.” “Seriously?” He nodded. “Maybe you shouldn’t have been trying to make out with him,” he suggested. How did he know that? “I was kissing him good-bye.” He snorted and exchanged glances with the nurse. “That’s not what it looked like to me.” Probably not. But what happened? Could Reyes Farrow take control over me even from a freaking coma? I was doomed. – Darynda Jones • Your developed countries are taking teachers from South Africa, they are taking nurses, because people are better paid where they are going. – Thabo Mbeki

• A good culture in a hospital can absorb and manage a few bad nurses, but once the culture becomes bad in itself, bad nursing practice is much harder to hide. – Jo Brand • A man’s home may seem to be his castle on the outside; inside is more often his nursery. – Clare Boothe Luce • A woman’s life isn’t worth a plateful of cabbage if she hasn’t felt life stir under her heart. Taking a little one to nurse, watching him grow to manhood, that’s what love is. • A young nurse, someone new whom he didn’t recognise, came up to Henry and patted him on the arm. “Are you a friend or a family member?” She whispered the question in his ear, trying not to disturb Sheldon. The question hung there like a beautiful chord, ringing in the air. Henry was Chinese, Sheldon obviously wasn’t. They looked nothing alike. Nothing at all. “I’m distant family,” Henry said. – Jamie Ford A. A. Milne • after several months of probation work, standing on my feet some ten to twelve hours a day, I decided that as a nurse I was a pretty good entertainer. – Kate Smith • All four of my grandparents were educators, my mom was a school nurse, and I went through the public school system. – Erin Cummings • All writing is by the grace of God. People do not deserve to have good writing, they are so pleased with bad. In these sentences that you show me, I can find no beauty, for I see death in every clause and every word. There is a fossil or a mummy character which pervades this book. The best sepulchers, the vastest catacombs, Thebes and Cairo, Pyramids, are sepulchers to me. I like gardens and nurseries. Give me initiative, spermatic, prophesying, man-making words. – Ralph Waldo Emerson • Always keep a-hold of Nurse For fear of finding something worse – Hilaire Belloc • Always thank your nurse. Sometimes they’re the only one between you and a hearse. – Warren Beatty • America has the best doctors, the best nurses, the best hospitals, the best medical technology, the best medical breakthrough medicines in the world. There is absolutely no reason we should not have in this country the best health care in the world. – Bill Frist • And as a nurse, I know very well the importance, for example, of electronic medical records. – Lois Capps • And for adults, the world of fantasy books returns to us the great words of power which, in order to be tamed, we have excised from our adult vocabularies. These words are the pornography of innocence, words which adults no longer use with other adults, and so we laugh at them and consign them to the nursery, fear masking as cynicism. These are the words that were forged in the earth, air, fire, and water of human existence, and the words are: Love. Hate. Good. Evil. Courage. Honor. Truth. – Jane Yolen • And I also felt that no one in an audience could abuse me worse than the sort of abuse I had had at work as a psychiatric nurse. – Jo Brand • And just like that, I’d been assessed and judged. Nurse Fashoda didn’t know the first thing about me but she’d taken one look at my face and now she reckoned she knew my whole life story — what had gone before and what was yet to come. – Malorie Blackman • and she’s a nurse. do you know how hard nursing school is? it’s like medical school. so she’s obviously smart. – Augusten Burroughs • And so when Mrs. Darling went back to the night-nursery to see if her husband was asleep, all the beds were occupied. The children waited for her cry of joy, but it did not come. She saw them, but she did not believe they were there. You see, she saw them in their beds so often in her dreams that she thought this was just the dream hanging around her still. – James M. Barrie • Another person is, at the heart of it, unknowable. And if you cannot know a person enough to always guess what they’re capable of, you certainly cannot know them enough to hold them in your hands, to control their behavior, to fight, manipulate, cajole or nurse or soothe them into doing what they should or shouldn’t. People will do what they will do. The trick is admitting your own helplessness about that little fact.- Deb Caletti • As a comic and as a nurse, it’s important to look calm on the surface when you’re absolutely crapping yourself inside. So, if someone is waving a machete at you, which has happened to me when I was a nurse, it’s important to make that person feel that you’re in control. – Jo Brand • As a father, physician and nurse, I have a special place in my heart for children, and I know the brief window of opportunity we have to teach them simple lessons that can lead to a lifetime of good health. – Richard Carmona • As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may not remember your name but they will never forget the way you made them feel. – Maya Angelou • As in ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’?” The skull howled with laughter. “You just got your ass handed to you by a nursery tale?””I wouldn’t say they handed me my ass,” I said.Bob was nearly strangling on his laughter, and given that he had no lungs it seemed gratuitous somehow. “That’s because you can’t see yourself,” he choked out. “Your nose is all swollen up and you’ve got two black eyes. You look like a raccoon. Holding a dislocated ass. – Jim Butcher • As readers, we remain in the nursery stage so long as we cannot distinguish between taste and judgment, so long, that is, as the only possible verdicts we can pass on a book are two: this I like; this I don’t like. For an adult reader, the possible verdicts are five: I can see this is good and I like it; I can see this is good but I don’t like it; I can see this is good and, though at present I don’t like it, I believe that with perseverance I shall come to like it; I can see that this is trash but I like it; I can see that this is trash and I don’t like it. – W. H. Auden

When my brother, the crazy chicken warrior, turned into a falcon and went up the pyramid’s chimney with his new friend, the fruit bat, he left me playing nurse to two very wounded people—which I didn’t appreciate, and which I wasn’t particularly good at. – Rick Riordan • Beside Mama, in my own folding chair, with my feet sticking out in front of me, I thought about my own innards. Just a few months before I’d had no idea whether my reproductive equipment worked. There was no evidence. But that week I had become a full-fledged bleeder and was still absorbed by this first change in myself that I had ever noticed. The click and buzz of my synapses kept making the same connection. If you can change, you can also end. Death had always been a theory to me. Now I knew. The terror hurt good and I nursed it and played it like a loose tooth. – Katherine Dunn • Birchfall lapped at his wound “You’re not very sympathetic for a medicine cat” “I’m here to HEAL you. If you want sympathy, go to the nursery” Jaypaw mewed – Erin Hunter • But Jude,’ she would say, ‘you knew me. All those days and years, Jude, you knew me. My ways and my hands and how my stomach folded and how we tried to get Mickey to nurse and how about that time when the landlord said…but you said…and I cried, Jude.

How To Wear Puffer Jacket? 31 Chic Outfits With Puffer Jackets
How to Wear Puffer Jackets For Women? Oh the weather outside is frightful, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to look delightful (ly fashionable). Even when its bone-chilling cold with temperatures in the teens (bbbrrrr), many ladies really don’t want to skip fashion for warmth.
But we have very good news – it is possible to wear a puffer jacket and not look frumpy and out of style. Believe it or not, you can look and feel unstoppable in a puffer jacket. According to a recent Boston Globe piece, “Any woman who has shopped for a puffer understands there are tiny style distinctions that take on outsized importance, which sometimes allow a woman to think her coat is — however marginally — cute: The slightest shaping at the waist. A faux fur ruff around the hood. A sophisticated silhouette.“
What To Wear With Puffer Jackets
Here are more than two dozen ways to brave the elements this winter and remain super stylish while wearing a puffer jacket.
↓ 31. Go for the gold!
The Skyler down filled bomber jacket by Sam-NYC is crafted from a densely woven nylon. The surface has been treated to obtain a lacquered look. It is lightweight, yet protective of wind and water, and filled with goose down to achieve warmth and an ultra-soft feel. The jacket features a raccoon fur trimmed hood, center front zip closure with snap placket, 2 lower pockets, a knit waistband, and spandex thumbhole cuffs. This pretty little number will cost you a suggested retail price of $695.00.
↓ 30. Champagne Tastes on a Beer Budget
You can never go wrong in a neutral monochromatic coat, especially one that comes from H&M for as little as $124. Pair with asos high waist jeans, Nike air max thea sneakers, a.p.c geneve bag, and who what wear collection top. You’ll look like a million bucks while barely even trying. And have money left over to splurge on guilty little pleasures, like lattes, all month long.
↓ 29. Living in a Material World
How cool were the 1980’s?! Channelling Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Boy George & Culture Club. Life would be so much better if neon pink could reappear in every decade! This jacket brights up your complexion and turns you into a ray of sunshine. The best part is, it’ll be super easy to identify which coat is yours at the end of the night.
↓ 28. Jewel Tones
Sometimes we just need a break from basic black. Michael Kors understands this and offers this winter coat in rich jewelled hues which can easily be matched to your amethyst and emeralds. Treat yourself to a matching mani too! You’ll sparkle like the precious gem you are.
↓ 27. Go big or go home!
Stay toasty warm from head to toe. This belted “puffy compilation” from Imgur lets you flaunt your tiny waist and not look like a big shapeless blimb. Dress it up with pumps, boots with a kitten heel or keep your feet planted firmly on the ground in a pair of Uggs or fashionable kicks.
↓ 26. Show The World You Have the Winter Blues
The colour blue is having a moment in home décor. Pinterest boards full of cobalt blue kitchens. Fashion follows the interior design. Step out looking boho chic in this warm 90% duck down warm parka quilted coat. Best part if the removable scarf. On sale for only $125.55 at Boho Gipsy Store.
↓ 25. Sorry, I Wanted to Stay in Bed
For those cold, raw days when you really wish you could stay under your duvet covers, throw on this stunning coat from Add. Changing out of your oh so comfy pyjamas is optional.
↓ 24. Pinkies Up, Dutchess
Let them question if you’re part of the royal family in this majestic purple hooded winter white duck down jacket with natural fox fur collar. It’s even available in plus sizes. They will be shocked if you tell them it’s only $217.27 at AliExpress.
↓ 23. Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery
Wish your closet could be filled with Balenciaga, but worried if you can even afford this month’s rent payment? The Orolay is the thickened $100 down jacket that looks a little bit Balenciaga, a little bit Sacai, and is selling like hotcakes. I spotted three women checking into spin class on the upper east side of Manhattan, New York City this morning. Snag it for only $99 (was $250, now 60% off) at Amazon.
↓ 22. Keep Your Hands in Your Pockets
C’mon, admit it, what girl doesn’t go crazy when they realize their dress has actual pockets?!? The H-line Casual Pockets Hoodie Coat offers front pockets. What a score! Gloves optional. Did we mention this jacket has front pockets?!?
↓ 21. Eye See You
Ward away fromthe evil eye and make sure everyone is watching you closely while prancing through the streets in this very noticeable puffer from Rivaynyc.com | Rivay® Official. Pairs nicely with a classic Chanel bag. The girl who wears this is certainly an “It Girl” wanting to be viewed, admired, appreciated and remembered.
↓ 20. Headed to the Gym
Puffer jackets are the perfect way to winterize athleisure, which continues to be so in style right now. This Aritzia super puff jacket comes in so many different colors options. The key to styling the perfect puffer jacket is to get one that is slightly cropped, because it emphasizes your waistline and creates a feminine silhouette.
↓ 19. Wine Time
Easily a perfect jacket to throw on before a girl’s wine night out or meeting friends at the pub. Pairs well with black pants and heels. It’s practical and unfussy, even if you’re not.
↓ 18. Grading on a Bell Curve
This trusty quilted Alice + Olivia is by far my absolute favorite. The jacket means serious business both in terms of warmth and sensational style. The bell curve on the hips adds just the perfect amount of flounce and flair. A great pair of shoes is all that’s needed. What’s she’s wearing underneath is meaningless because this detailed jacket screams, “Here comes a fashion plate.”
↓ 17. Green with Envy
Strut yourself in a big bold emerald green jacket and skinny black stirrups. It’s almost possible to feel the heat radiating off of this classy lady. This seriously could be Meaghan Markle in her pre-Dutchess days. Do you see the resemblance?
↓ 16. It’s a Long Shot
The long puffer is a must-have staple in every female’s closet. It protects you all around, exposing only a tiny portion of your legs. Keep that part of your legs covered in heavy tights or thick wool pants. There’s no better option for those living in a city with lots of precipitation and/or low temperatures. Feel free to take a bold chance on your shoes and accessories since the majority of your body will be covered up the coat. Puffer coat + cropped jeans + ankle boots equals a winning equation every time. Now you do the math.
↓ 15. If You See a Shiny Penny, Pick it Up…All Day Long You’ll Have Good Luck
Glossy magazines will never be completely out of Vogue. There’s something so rich, luxurious, eye-catching and worthy of shine and that definitely includes shiny nylon down jackets. This is a bespoke shiny/PVC/vinyl down winter coat which is made of high-quality 4-way stretch vinyl. It has an oil slick look with really smooth touch (latex imitation). In a class by itself and not your usual nylon puffer. You may think it looks familiar because it mimics the Moncler style, but is much more glossy.
↓ 14. Even Runway Models Walk on Paved Streets
An eccentric design could really polish a plain, boring coat. Gigi Hadid provides us with some awesome tips with this bold, sassy and comfy puffer coat. Remember that you don’t have to put too much effort with your other clothing because the coat itself can do the magic. Just like that, you can look effortlessly chic.
↓ 13. Walk as if You are a Painting in a Museum
Patterns can be risky, but there’s just something so beautiful and unique about this White Floral Turtleneck Long Sleeve Coat. Definitely meant for the condifent fashionista who wants to stand out from the crowd and differ from the masses all huddled togethjer in their basic, boring, black winter gear.
↓ 12. Make Love, Not War
This camo puffer jacket from Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren Down Snorkel Jacket is guaranteed to keep you toasty warm. It’s also available in a men’s version, if you want to twin with your mate. Requires nothing more than a chic pair of jeans and rugged combat boots. Spend less time getting ready and much more fun having fun.
↓ 11. You’re Making Me Blush
Puffer jackets with a slim silhouette like this blush pink renew lightweight puffer jacket prove endlessly versatile. Simply toss it on over workout gear on your way to or from the gym, or style it with a sweater and your favorite jeans for the perfect, low-key weekend look. The mock neck collar complements so many different layers, from turtlenecks, to crewneck shirts, to button downs, to hooded sweatshirts. Add a little extra warmth on cooler days by wearing it over a simple cashmere sweater. Pure perfection.
↓ 10. Two Tone
This two tone puffer is so attractive and easy on the eye. Roll up the sleeves for an extra pop of color. I can’t help but wondering if it’s reversible. That would mean two fabulous coats for the price of one!
↓ 9. Mid-Length
Mid-length jackets can be worn by any type of individuals, whether you are a plus size or a petite woman. The length still keeps the whole ensemble more flattering because it provides a complimentary balance. She looks put together in a pair of black leggings, big handbag and eye-catchy boots.
↓ 8. It’s a Cinch
Puffer coats with belts are really attractive and convenient. You can manipulate the comfort and style level by adjusting the belt. This accessory promises that you will never have a hard time finding the perfect fit because the coat itself is adjustable. Zippers and belts are a fantastic combination to lay emphasis on your body.
↓ 7. If you got it, flaunt it!
From the upper to the bottom, you can certainly affirm that this girl knows how to style a puffer coat. The design of the top and the colors of the coat perfectly mesh together. And oh, the flare long jeans were ideal match to the mini short puffer jacket.
↓ 6. Don’t Skirt the Issue
One might wonder: can you pair a puffer jacket with a skirt? Apparently so! (All while keeping your legs warm too!)
↓ 5. Mad for Plaid
Plaid is always current. Bring it out for hayrides and bonfires in the crisp fall weather. Add a red or green scarf for a true festive holiday feel in December. Rest assured, you don’t look like a lumberjack. But you may just get picked up by one.
↓ 4. Got a Problem with the Paparazzi?
Hmmm, is it possible that the puffer coat has made its comeback courtesy of celebs being spotted in them right before stripping off for red carpet event to get photographed in their revealing dresses? Or, because it’s this jacket they choose to wear when running errands in cold temperatures and hiding from the paparazzi? Well… they’re obviously wearing them for style reasons.
↓ 3. Don’t Throw Shade at Me
What if I told you all you all need is a great pair of shades to compliment your puffer coat. So stick your chest out a bit more and stay incognito hidden behind a great pair of sunglasses that flatter your face.
↓ 2. Countdown to Spring
Better days are coming. They’re called spring and summer. Let winter know you are breaking up with him. Show him, it’s not you, but I’m gravitating towards warmer weather filled with lilacs and pretty flowers.
↓ 1. Invest in Your Future
If you can afford it, go above the budget and treat yourself to a timeless and classic beauty such as Moncler, Canada Goose, etc. Be vigilant about taking extra good care of it and plan to pass it along to your daughter once she’s grown into it. Because when your daughter covets your clothing, you know you’re a super cool mom! Now if only she could give you her perfect skin.
Bundle up, stay warm and have the best winter ever!

The Best-Dressed Men Of The Week
http://fashion-trendin.com/the-best-dressed-men-of-the-week-27/
The Best-Dressed Men Of The Week
Who: Tom Holland
Where: Avengers Infinity War Film Premiere, LA
On the never-ending publicity machine for Marvel’s new Avengers film, actor Tom Holland has come out as a new style icon (and a recurring fixture on this list). Here he sports a fine racing green double-breasted suit paired correctly with black dress shoes and a well-considered maroon undershirt. The fit is, as always for Holland, exquisite. Go on Tom, give your stylist a raise – this is some Oscar-worthy costume work.
Who: Leonardo DiCaprio
Where: CinemaCon, Las Vegas
Leo was attempting to go incognito at this year’s CinemaCon, making a surprise appearance at the announcement of Quentin Tarantino’s new film. When you’re going to an event as a surprise act you don’t want to go all-guns-blazing in a tux, so it’s a dressed-down all-black affair for the A-lister – with white sneakers and a green suede bomber just unassuming enough to slip past unwanted glares.
Who: John Legend
Where: Tribeca Film Festival, New York
Legend’s reputation as louche lounge lizard du jour continues this week. We would normally say that animal print shirts are a bit too dad-overseeing-the-BBQ to pair with a suit, but we’ll make an exception when it’s a masterful, floaty Yves Saint Laurent creation. The pink hue of the flamingos complements the beige of his breezy jacket nicely, while roomy, pleated trousers are ideal for summer.
Who: Tom Hiddleston
Where: Jimmy Kimmel Live, LA
“You will put me on your best-dressed men of the week list”. Alright Tom, put that hand down – there’s no need for the hypnotist act. We work purely on merit here, and that Ralph Lauren linen suit speaks for itself. Mauve is a difficult colour to wear, but anchor with brown Chelsea boots like Hiddleston and complement it with a sky blue shirt. There’s no need for mind games when you know your colour wheel.
Who: Common
Where: Tribeca Film Festival, New York
There is a debate to be had over whether the top button of a shirt should be done up or not. If it’s patterned you risk looking too hipster for your own good (it’s a look to be had, just not on the red carpet), but rapper Common has the right idea, doing it up only when the shirt is plain. The rest of the outfit is fresh, resting on steady neutrals and a relaxed Fendi gabardine Harrington, which is just the right side of statement.
Who: Bradley Cooper
Where: Avengers Infinity War Film Premiere, LA
Bradley Cooper has been less visible on the red carpet than his Avengers co-stars, mainly because his turn is confined to the recording studio as the voice of the raccoon, Rocket. Yet, trust Coop to turn up and instantly throw a spanner in the works of our best-dressed Avenger sweepstakes. This three-piece is a modern, slim fit with just a slight half-break at the trouser hem. Plus, the shirt colour goes well with those baby blues.
Who: Sterling K Brown
Where: Time 100 Gala, New York
Owner of possibly the best name in Hollywood, actor Sterling K Brown picked up a Golden Globe award last month for his role in the heart-tugging TV drama This Is Us. When you make that step up to award winner, you have to ensure your red carpet look is on point, e.g. with a tuxedo that fits like you jumped out of the womb in it. Brown is doing it well – those shoulders fall effortlessly (no jutting out pad in sight), and while we never thought we’d see cropped suit trousers look this formal, they work with the overall fitted look.
Who: Eddie Redmayne
Where: CinemaCon, Las Vegas
A pair of Gucci leather sneakers is probably the closest we’re going to get to seeing actor Eddie Redmayne showcasing streetwear. It’s not a slant on Redmayne, he’s just a well put-together guy who looks better in a preppy jumper and some tailored trousers. The fashion lesson here is: don’t force yourself to be anything you’re not. Can you imagine Redmayne in an oversized Supreme hoody? Not a chance, and that’s why he never gets a look wrong.
Who: Luke Evans
Where: Strictly Ballroom The Musical, London
On the wrong guy, a brown leather jacket can look a bit mid-life crisis. On Luke Evans it looks every inch the menswear classic it deserves to be. The light scarf is another little touch of roguish swagger, while the all-black bottom half means the outfit isn’t overdone.
Who: Darren Criss
Where: Lorraine Show, London
Going from starring on the show Glee to playing a serial killer in true crime drama The Assassination of Gianni Versace is a bold step to say the least. But while actor Darren Criss might be taking risks in his career, style-wise this is a steady look (long-sleeved polo, slim black jeans, Chelsea boots). Then there’s the V-shaped stripe emblazoned across his chest – you don’t want to play it too safe, after all.
