The sea was a vast, unforgiving expanse, where only the most daring and ruthless thrived. The ship, The Black Siren, cut through the water like a knife, its black sails billowing in the wind. At its helm stood the captain—a captain known for their steely gaze and unyielding resolve. Their reputation was one of fear and respect, a pirate who had never known defeat.

Milo Thatch had heard the stories, but they did little to prepare him for the reality. Standing on the deck, he felt a chill that had nothing to do with the sea breeze. The crew, rough and scarred, barely acknowledged him, their loyalty to their captain absolute. And the captain, was as distant as the stars.

“You there,” their voice, sharp as a blade, cut through the air, making him jump. “You wanted to speak to me?”

Milo turned to face them, his heart pounding in his chest. They were everything he’d heard—tall, with eyes that seemed to pierce right through him. Their hair was tied back, revealing a face that was both beautiful and terrifying. But it was their presence, the sheer force of their will, that made him hesitate.

“Y-Yes,” Milo stammered, clutching the maps he had brought with him. “I-I think I can help you find Atlantis.”

Their eyes narrowed, and they took a step closer, their boots echoing ominously on the wooden deck. “And why should I trust you, Mr. Thatch?” they asked, tone icy. “Men have died for less out here.”

Milo swallowed hard, his hands trembling slightly. “Because I believe I might know the way,” he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. “And because you want to find it as much as I do.”

For a moment, there was only silence. The captain studied him, their expression unreadable. Then, with a slight tilt of their head, they motioned for him to follow them into their cabin.

Inside, the atmosphere was no less intimidating. The walls were lined with maps, weapons, and treasures from countless voyages. They walked to their desk and sat down, never taking their eyes off him.

“Show me,” they commanded.

Milo spread the maps out on the desk, his fingers tracing the lines and symbols. As he explained his theory, the captain leaned in slightly, their eyes scanning the maps with a calculating look. But Milo noticed a flicker of interest behind their cold exterior.

“You think this will lead us there?” they asked, tone less harsh but still guarded.

“I do,” Milo replied, his confidence growing. “But we’ll need to work together. This isn’t something one person can do alone.”

They leaned back in their chair, regarding him with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. “You’re either very brave or very foolish, Mr. Thatch. But I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.”

As the days turned into weeks, the tension between them began to ease. Milo’s knowledge and passion for Atlantis intrigued them, and they found themselves drawn to his sincerity and determination. He, in turn, began to see beyond their fearsome reputation, noticing the intelligence and strength that had made them a legend.

One evening, as they stood together on the deck, watching the sunset, Milo gathered the courage to speak. “I didn’t expect this,” he said quietly, glancing at the captain.

They turned to him, their expression softer than he’d ever seen it. “Expect what?”

“To like you,” he admitted, his cheeks flushing. “To… respect you so much.”

A small, almost imperceptible smile touched their lips. “The feeling is mutual, Mr. Thatch,” they replied, their voice gentle for the first time. “You’ve proven yourself in ways I never thought possible.”

Their eyes met, and in that moment, something shifted between them. The distance that had once defined their relationship began to dissolve, replaced by a connection neither of them had anticipated.

Milo reached out, his hand trembling slightly as it brushed against theirs. They didn’t pull away. Instead, they took his hand in theirs, the warmth of their touch surprising him.

“You’ve changed me, Milo,” they whispered, their voice filled with a vulnerability that they had never shown before. “And I don’t know if that’s a good thing.”

Isn't all of the rabid BKDK shippers similar to that one pairing in Bleach where the loud shippers want one pairing and the Editors suggest that the Bleach's author should do it, but he explicitly stated that he wanted this pairing instead because its his story? At best, the official canon ship for Izuku would be Izuchaco or implied of it or no ships at all.

At least Hori agrees with us that the BKDK relationship is abusive and that the two would be treating each other as acquaintances who just happen to grow up together. And the thing is for that BKDK contest, he acknowledges the skills of the artists but the relationship is not romantic at all. So it's really just people being extremely obsessed with the idea that any and all relationships should be romantic instead of platonic. I wonder if he was expecting a badass action scenes between the two working together instead of causal romantic times?

Mind you I WAS THERE when the shipping war between ichirukis and ichihimes was at its highest and believe me it was UGLY and for me who never shipped ichigo with either rukia or orihime it kinda destroyed the manga/anime for me back then and its one of the main reasons why I dont like shipping in generell anymore. But despite never shipping it myself I KNEW ichigo would end up with orihime, because kubo made it obvious. The anime cut a lot of canon ichihime moments and included tons of filler ichiruki moments, so its no wonder why so many people believed at first ichiruki was a thing. And to be fair to kubo, he made clear statements back then about ichigos and rukias relationship being pure platonic YEARS BEFORE the manga ended, but the shippers ignored that and played victim afterwards. Hori on the other hand would never make this kind of bold statement, because he is aware of the backlash that would happen. I like hori and I can understand why he wouldnt want to upset people because he was attacked and got death threads in the past already from stupid shippers, but I have to say tite kubo is clearly the braver one of these two. He simply gives a fuck what people think and just does his thing no matter if people like it or not.

The best part was how not that long ago he completly destroyed an hardcore ichiruki shipper on social media who attacked him and insultet ichihime and kubo was just like: "you know what? FUCK YOU! like, especially portraying a romantic relationship on screen, it would be very childish to still act disgusted by a co-star just to stop people around you saying 'ooooooh'... wouldnt it? unless you are genuinely repulsed by someone, once you become an adult you typically dont act that way. you get to an age where you can straight up say 'yeah, that person is beautiful' or attractive or what not, and you can say that about friends too, without anyone thinking you are falling in love with them.

i really remember the harry potter cast doing this and it was such a joy to see them grow up and acknowledge these things rather than just blush in interviews and pretend they never had crushes on each other.

or if you genuinely are repulsed by someone, you would deal with that in a mature way. especially if you were working professionally - i mean youre doing a job, but that still involves emotion and both disgust and attraction could be part of that.

i know the duffers hammed up the kiss between finn and millie, but hopefully that was cos they were kids (i didnt love that they did that, though we will never have full context), and hopefully for byler everything would be treated with respect. that also doesnt mean you totally lose the excitement and juice - love and attraction turns people of all ages into puddles - but rather that it is also still just a scene, and treated like any other scene, in service to the story.

for example, why is it taboo for an actor to be totally into a love scene, but not totally excited and joyful doing a scene on a ferris wheel or biking down a hill? why is there shame in the natural emotive expression, even when performing? and why is there shame in us discussing or anticipating that? we are essentially being spectators of the joy of human emotion - its why people love stories. stories are designed to make us think these people are real. why are characters, intrinsically, any different to real people in terms of the way we interact with them?

is it because they cannot be touched by us and we cant hurt them?

yes. but that leads us back to the nuance of shipping two irl actors and discussing human behaviour. this blog is unlikely to reach finn or noah. we are discussing them in relation to mike and will, not paparazzi'ing them outside their homes. this isn't a tabloid. its a tumblr blog.

maybe there are some people who edit together miniscule interview moments and invent fictions between real people. but again thats very different to just picking up on human behaviour and discussing it, as two people would over dinner, when they realise their mutual friends have got a thing going on.

hi, i genuinely hate people who diss shippers. first off, this is going to be basically incomprehensible so be prepared.

so i ship sunflower (OMORI). pretty popular ship, between sunny and basil. i'm sure we can at least acknowledge that tropes in which childhood friends become romantic. first of all, i'm sure you tumblr users (yes you) are at least aware of the jelsa (jack frost x elsa) phenomena (?) that was happening at some point even if you didnt participate yourself. obviously those people posting this type stuff either a. weren't around then (more likely) or b. got sent to ship conversion therapy (funnier?). because like how can one be so against such a normal ship. obviously theyve had their ups and down but that brings me to point 2.

so many people think that just because a ship could never work out, it means you can never ship it (cancel culture my enemy). THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND IT'S A NEED. a ship that has no angst between characters (controversial), is a dull one. what it's saying is "these characters have never had any obstacles to work around or to strengthen their relationship". in my humble opinion that makes it uninteresting. it's nice to see a relationship going well of course but its also nicER to see characters put in emotional effort.

part of the reason why fandom exists is so that you can make content that's not canon and that INCLUDES ships that'd be toxic in the actual media. genuinely if you think fanon has to follow canon silence your trap. if anything shipper who do this are more likely to mischaracterize characters for their own ship to work which goes against this mindset.

A: Love it. Spend my time combing AO3 for it.

i love love LOVE trans izzy. he is everything to meeeee. but yes! the historical portrayal is important to me too in all of this, im particularly fond of fics where Izzy being trans is acknowledged as part of the plot, not just a thing he is.

i think being trans works for izzy because of his social position (being a pirate & criminal, its easy to shake off a past identity) & we historically know people could disguise their sex on ships! fics sometimes lose me with HRT & top surgery- im personally probably a no top surgery trans izzy truther- i dont see him as willing to risk the downtime for the recovery of an 'unnecessary' surgery in their line of work (also it gives me some time to nerd out over stays as binders which is so interesting to me). the hormones too, i suppose my ideal set up is izzy who already has hormone imbalances, making 'natural' solutions more believable. (my biggest trans izzy turn off is modern hormone methods just, thrown into history. have some fun with it!!!!) socially, i love the potential of trans izzy as a bonding moment with the crew, jim in particular, but any revealing of a secret involves a layer of trust that inherently aligns him with the crew. (on that note, forced outings can be a very touchy subject, but i think they can be done well with izzy- old crews where his secret was known, bringing it up to the revenge expecting them to join in mocking him (after all, they already were) but the crew suddenly turns on them & rally around him, finally breaking conflict between them) just in general, i love the layers it can add to his character, a forced portrayal of masculinity as armour to keep his secret safe- he cant possibly be seen doing anything remotely feminine because it would be a betrayal of who he is.

on the other characters- i generally only have major thoughts on trans ed & stede in canon era (& jim, but obviously thats not HC) with ed, i think he ticks a lot of the same boxes as izzy for me, but i personally much prefer transfem ed! i think theres wonderful potential with her, with the opposite of izzy in the masculinity- Having spent so long portraying perfect masculinity as a front to hide the fact that maybe, maybe, she doesnt actually really want to be a man.

with stede, i do like trans stede buuuut i very rarely see it done in a way i actually like fhfjfbfdfs for trans stede to hit for me personally i need him to have basically just started transitioning as he joins the revenge. i need mary to be a man and have no idea stede felt this way (i think he'd be accepting a la the ed thing, but those two do NOT communicate well enough for stede to have mentioned it before) i think stede would have no idea about most things to do with this, especially not that there were other people out there like him (he def wouldnt know he gravitated to a queer crew) theres a lot of fun there in combination with trans izzy or ed, having him learn from both experienced pirates & experienced trans people. but yeah i dont think in the fics i read ive actually seen a trans stede fic that considers how to play the precanon era in a way that works for me and it just. takes me out of the moment

Spoutible a few months later

Okay a few months out and I can really safely say Spoutible really is the best Twitter alternative out there. I also would like to point out some obvious misinformation I have seen going round. And give a bit of an update on my own personal experiences as well as what has changed.

The site is perfectly safe. The claim that your data is being stolen and leaked is all bullshit. I have yet to see any signs that my information has been compromised and the information Spoutible asks you for is relatively basic stuff.

The claim that Spoutible is hostile to romance authors is also complete BS since there are a good number of romance writers over on Spoutible that have posted with no issue.

Spoutible is a scam is also fake. You cannot tell me that the whale is a scam when the person behind it has been highly up front and transparent about the various issues and working to address them. Spoutible being largely funded by donations right now makes sense considering it lacks a proper advertising model and has yet to attract the support of any major advertisers. They don't even force you to give money either. Donating is completely optional.

Yes I will acknowledge the site has some bugs still but that's to be expected for any new platform really and they have been working on fixing them as fast as they can.

I don't really understand why people are throwing a fuss over Spoutible's stance on porn considering its basically identical to virtually every other social site out there. In case you didn't know Spoutible's TOS was crafted based on the input of users during the beta period and they made it clear they didn't want porn

I have seen people complain about too much political content or how it feels like a left wing echo chamber but there being a lot of politics right now isn't surprising considering a lot of first wave Spoutible users were political journalists and commentators who migrated over from Twitter. If you are wondering why a lot of Spoutible feels very left centric a lot of it likely has to do with the fact that I think many aren't used to being on a platform where more balanced political discussion doesn't have to worry about being constantly drowned out by right wing trolling and disinformation.

And personally, I think it is important Spoutible be allowed to grow as a platform for news and political activism with how much of a right-wing disinformation cess pit Twitter is rapidly devolving into. Its probably no coincidence that I am seeing many journalists jumping ship to the whale right now. Also, here's a tip dont be afraid to check the explore section and remember to look for accounts that match your interests. I can't help but notice a trend/pattern of people coming over to Spoutible just to start shit on purpose knowing they will likely be banned just so they can then run back to Twitter and proclaim how Spoutible is unfairly censoring its users.

What elevates Spoutible above sites like Twitter is that they actually have shown they are taking moderation seriously. I remember earlier a bunch of people showed up Spoutible just to spew racist crap and they all got bounced right away. You would never seen that sort of enforcement over on Twitter. Giving people more tools at their disposal to help cut down on harassment, trolling, and bullying goes a long way in making Spoutible a healthier and more inclusive platform especially for the more marginalized groups such as LGBTQ people.

And now as for what has improved, what I like, and what could be fixed.

Spoutible needs more celebrities and high profile figures. Getting someone like the POTUS would do wonders for raising its image.

Right now I think its highly premature to claim Spoutible will flop just like all the other Twitter altenatives considerings its still relatively young as a platform and still has much potential for growth. I feel I cannot stress enough that Spoutible really is the best Twitter alternative out there. It doesnt have the stability and security problems of HIVE nor does it suffer from Mastodon's server based bullshit and gatekeeping problems. The whole platform was perfectly designed to make migrating from Twitter as painless as possible so once again I will encourage people to give the whale a chance if they are tired of the bird.

Cant believe I have to make a statement like this but if you use MY OCS without permission I will be unbelievably pissed. Im not talking about fan art of my ocs or characters like Jingle who I let Quakey draw freely because he was made with her oc in mind.

I mean people using my ocs without knowing me or my characters to make content. Im talking about people using my ocs to make fetishitic content. Because yes this has happened before. But its getting so nerve wracking waiting for some rando to see my oc on google and call dibs. It happens the MOST in the care bear community. Its so bad I get actual anxiety about people adding my oc art to Collections on DA. Geo and an Au design of Bluster were added to collections marked with a project title. DONT FUCKING USE MY CHARACTERS OR MY DESIGNS WITHOUT ASKING ME. Geo HAS been stolen before and it was frustrating having the same person and their friends contact me several times trying to talk me into letting her be used for their content after I said no.

This is far beyond my redesigns or aus being stolen or heavily copied which also frustrates me to no end. But Ive come to expect it because it always happens to my work. People have gone out of their way to edit my watermark or sona out of art to repost it.

But my ocs are fully mine and I have extensive lore to them I dont want some stranger shipping my 14 year old character with one of my 30 year old ones because they dont know their ages. I dont wanna see Geo being used for personal projects because her 'design is cool'. I dont want to see my canonnically lesbian ocs being paired with my canonically gay characters. Im not a content creator or artist whos making a popular media peice, Im not making a show. So people do not know these designs trace back to me. When you see art of welcome home or h*lluva b*ss you know who their creators are. You know whos characters those are. You know Amity and Luz are Dana Terrace's.

But I'm a hobby artist whos following is barely over 1000 followers most of whom arent active. I wouldnt be so pissed if i had some huge popular project under my belt where people recognised my ocs and knew this content wasnt canon. A ship I have with said character: gonna be honest despite the fact he's one of those characters who's shipped with pretty much every character under the sun, i don't...?? really have any licorice ships im super passionate about. there's redlico but i personally prefer it as more of a qpp thing- and then theres licofait which i guess i like but i think its at its best when you characterize parfait and licorice as equally pathetic which the fandom doesnt do at all in preference of a malewife/girlboss dynamic that feels ooc with them. idk im just going to do a safe bet and say licovamp because my partner likes it

A BROTP I have with said character: as mentioned prior... i really like redlico as more of a qpp type thing so i'm going to talk about it here Grins and Smiles. the dynamic of red velvet as someone whos really detached from the real modern world as someone who's spent all of his life under dark enchantress and in the cake tower and licorice who i feel like Definitely is up to date on modern things so basically what im saying is red velvet falls for updog incident 3 dead 15 injured

A NOTP I have with said character: i've implied my distaste for it before but ill say it again. darklico kind of sucks. i understand that licorice hasnt treated dark choco as badly as like... pomegranate but that doesn't make him exempt from still having contributed to treating him like ass and wether licorice intended to or not, in turn still enabled people to do the same. i think people often forget that unlike someone like dark choco or even pomegranate, licorice is stated to have very much *willingly* joined dark enchantress and revels in being a villain so i genuinely don't see the chemistry or how they can properly work in a romantic setting. the pairing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth as much as i do enjoy both characters.

General Opinion over said character: i like him a lot he's one of those goofy cartoon villain henchmen that are sooo into their job and i feel like people don't acknowledge that enough in favor of making him ultra angsty. sure he has an implied tragic backstory but he's goofy and that's what makes him a fun character!!!!! he is goofy and pathetic and a bit of a shithead and i like him a lot

it's great that this is a Foah-friendly space but also not obsessive about it? you seem very byler-centric but accommodating of foah (or rather, discussion about the actors who bring byler to life, because i dont see how shipping can ever truly apply to real people. like even if noah and finn got together, their relationship still wouldnt be 'foah' yk? if that makes sense lol)

i'm sad today because a favourite fic author vehemently shamed me for asking a noah and finn related q about their world building, which is vast and also an au which appears to me to be heavily inspired by noah and finn as actors rather than mike and will in-show. its not about their lives, but it's so removed from mike and will that it would essentially be like if noah and finn acted in a different movie together but were just still called mike and will.

but i think if you have reached a level of infatuation with a pair of characters to the point of writing (damn good) fanfiction about them which involves a LOT of kissing etc, then some part of your brain must be infatuated with these physical human beings that bring byler to life? i wish more people in fan spaces could just admit that theyre kind of in love with byler and the actors who play them and just own it lmao. like, no one would be here if they werent happy to think about these two men kissing. c'est ça!

Oh no, that's so sad that someone was rude about it :( That's no fun. I can understand if someone is uncomfortable personally with the blatant concept of RFP but this doesn't sound like that? I think there's a natural progression in fandoms that are non-animated with this topic? There are real people playing them so you almost can't help but use some of the real person's traits if you are expanding on what we see in the source media. There's a limit to what we get from a show or movie and the jump to fill in the gaps with interpretations based on the actors portraying them isn't weird at all.

Will's facial expressions, while based upon the scenes scripted in the show, are Noah's expressions. Mike does things because Finn does those things. And they really look like that. Yeah, there can be a desired disconnect when you get into a fanfic where it dips into descriptive or explicit territory where yeah, some people might not want to acknowledge that the body descriptions we are reading are the same that might be happening if this was actor/actor and not character/character. But that's reality. It's not that big of a deal, honestly. And I also think that yes! There's some really good writing out there. But there are also definite times where you try something so removed from the actual source material that while these are very well depicted characters, it's almost something else entirely. And that's ok. Fanfiction! Transformative works! And maybe the character reminds you of the actor. Subconscious inspiration. Why be mean?

I made this blog so I can rant about things without embarrassing myself, so here’s my ranking of the first year duos (not including Yachi sorry sweetie)

1) Tsukishima & Hinata

Obviously this is a tsukihina blog so I enjoy them as a ship, but even if I’m not looking at it romantically, those two are a lot of fun together. (See Miyagi Camp) We have sun and moon dynamics, the super hyped and energetic passionate heart versus the quiet thinker. I also call it the SquidBob dynamics lol. Also the fact that they are literally opposites physically, but are super jealous of each other. (*clenches fist* the way Tsukishima is always thinking about Hinata) 

2) Hinata & Yamaguchi

They’re not a common duo because both parties have their respective partners already but out of the other 3 first years, Yamaguchi is the least offensive one to Hinata. (Not including when S1 Guch would laugh at Tsuki’s mean comments.) Anyway, theyre a good bunch of boys who are teammates and friends and know how to not be at each others throats. Just seeing them go around during slow times in Nationals was cute and lots of fun.

3) Kageyama & Yamaguchi

Not saying this as a KageGuchi shipper but the fact that they don’t interact nearly as much (I’m anime mostly, I know About That but I’m not going to talk about it) as the other first years makes me want to see more of them. The fact that Yamaguchi (though not out right) isn’t afraid of Kageyama (doesn’t put a suffix on him, is casual enough to push him off the court when he had a nosebleed) while Kageyama doesn’t hold any animosity towards Guch, despite being attached to Tsuki’s hip.

4) Hinata & Kageyama

The fact that they are the prominent duo makes me not need to think about them since I’m over exposed to them in canon. They are funny though and I’m still not sure why I never jumped aboard them as a ship (I can point out a few reasons but we dont have to get into that) but I acknowledge that they are probably each other’s best partner on the court. Work husbands, as I like to say. (I also know about certain future teams, lets not get into that)

I mainly prefer these two from S2 and up, I think, because Hinata seems less afraid of Kageyama.

5) Tsukishima & Yamaguchi

Not a huge fan of childhood friend dynamics. (Even less when its turned romantic.) Yamaguchi, even though he’s learned to stand on his own in court, still feels very Tsuki orbiting to me. His initial appearance was supposed to be Tsukki’s lackey and yes he does mellow out and get his own growth, but even then he’s still stuck on Tsuki’s hip. (I don’t like how every time Guchi gets on the court, there’s always a scene that makes it looks like he’s doing it for Tsuki.)

I do like when Tsuki does acknowledge their friendship (When did you become so cool) but it makes me a little sad that he doesn’t do it as often and still calls him Yamaguchi (vs “Tsukki” and how close his is to Akiteru that he’s Tadashi)

6) Kageyama & Tsukishima

Theyre the lowest on my list despite both characters being my top favs (4 and 1 respectively) Their dynamics are just too... hostile for me. I compare it to the ZoSans/HijiGins/ImaNarus, the ones where theyre always butting heads but secretly and would never in front of the others’ face let them know that they actually respect each other. They’re just a little too snarky for me, and both pretty socially/emotionally stunted to have a nice pleasant moment.
