When the Phone Rings, ep 6
I appreciate that the show actually addressed what many thought after last episode: how could Sa Eon not know it was Hee Joo on the other end of the phone, especially after seeing her on an unfamiliar phone? For the most part, I buy the explanation. It makes sense to me that he would deliberately ignore all the signs because it opens up a bunch of other things he does not know how to deal with. I do like how he fixated on the call with when Hee Joo mentions the mole because now he knows the picture was her and it must drive him wild.
We find out that Sa Eon does not remember the 'kiss' at first, but Hee Joo was able to get him to confess that he likes her. I loved the how they essentially played keep away with Sa Eon not giving the lingerie back. It hints at a very playful relationship, once they sort all their issues out. Sa Eon remembering the kiss, shoving her away and then running out of the room is a loser in love vibe but one I can actually fully get on board with.
My favourite scene is the phone conversation, the first one they have when he absolutely knows it's her. We learn that he has nightmares and as a child the only thing that calmed him was watching Hee Joo practice sign language at night. He knew the Hee Joo's home was a prison for her, just as his was for him. When Sa Eon made the deal, it was to give her freedom from that place. He thought she'd be more free but never realized that she would feel like it's a prison (though he called her a hostage which feels like a contradiction to the freedom part).
The reason he was so distant and cold was to not get too attached. Or to be more precise, even more attached than he already was. Sa Eon knew this was not a marriage that she chose so he always anticipated he'd have to let her go. But if Hee Joo is willing to give him a chance, and he will shower her with all the love and understanding he has for her.
Once she give her tentative ok, he is all in. He puts forth the effort 110% and still asks for advise from the married guy. He is possessive, but does listen to her as well. I do adore that he only thing he wanted was a picture with her. And he awkwardly did the heart hands with her.
My second favourite scene which is the other phone conversation. It's a bit of a interesting parallel since now we have Hee Joo ignoring that he obviously knows that it's her. Though in this moment since she just was shoved off a cliff it makes sense. I adore how he tells her of the emergency kit in her bag with the flare so she can save herself. I adore how she gets the strength to get the kit out of backpack because Sa Eon says he's terrified. I cannot wait to see him find her (and omg the preview for the next episode had me squealing).
In A remains very interesting to me. I don't think she's quite the villain. Yes, she was rude to Hee Joo's mom, but at the same time Hee Joo's mom is awful and I wonder if she saw her for exactly what she was. Yes, what she did to Hee Joo was terrible, but it also made some kind of twisted sense. Plus she is owning up to it. She hasn't apologized, but she knows she did wrong. I think that one of the reasons she made the agreement with Sa Eon was to not only gain freedom for herself, but to free Hee Joo as well. She just didn't anticipate how deeply being mute is ingrained with Hee Joo. I also wonder if she did understod Hee Joo when she told In A off in sign language.
Now it's pretty obvious that Sa Eon is a replacement for OG Sa Eon. OG Sa Eon was disturbing enough that his own mother was terrified of him. It's also evident that while she mourns the loss of her bio son and is bitter about it, she's more guilty/bitter at the relief and freedom she felt with him gone. Sa Eon's father is the same. This show has a recurring them of prison/freedom for all of it's characters.
However, what might be the bigger reveal is that Sa Eon has a twin. There was always someone behind the kidnapper who was pulling the strings. OG Sa Eon is the one doing all the grunt work; the one with the brains and the plan behind everything must be the twin. I am so interested in what happened.

The Art of Keeping Secrets
(Back at it with writing fic for a show I've seen like 3 episodes of. I saw this comic by @cadenzarose and my brain took things in a very different direction. 1.3k words. Enjoy!)
----------------
Marinette has two secrets.
The first comes as naturally as breathing. She’s coddled it long enough, held it close enough to her heart so that it’s become part of her identity. Ladybug is her identity, and so is the fact that she may never reveal that it is. Marinette knows how to lie easily now. Deflect, deny, “Oh I don’t recall”, “No, I was walking home”, breathe in, breathe out, easy. There’s something even easier than lying, and that’s never having to lie in the first place. Marinette has learned most people aren’t so observant. Most people would never suspect her. And if they never ask, then she never has to lie.
Marinette’s second secret is so much harder to keep.
It’s new, and it squirms the way new and uncomfortable secrets do. It twists her gut and pushes sweat into her palms. It feels like lying every moment she does not say it. It feels like lying every time Adrien catches the discomfort on her face (He’s observant—at least observant enough to notice this) and asks what’s wrong. “Oh, nothing! Why do you ask?” Does he believe her? Marinette had thought she’d gotten good at lying.
Marinette’s second secret eats her. She thinks of telling someone. Luka, maybe. He would at least understand the weight of it. But she can’t. She knows Luka would do the right thing, and the right thing would ruin so many things.
“Bye, Dad! Marinette and I are heading out to see a movie. I’ll be home before 9.”
Gabriel Agreste stares at them from the heights of his beautiful staircase, stern face set to the glower of a father who doesn’t approve of anything that brings his son happiness. Least of all friends. Least of all a girlfriend.
Marinette sees so much more in that stone face.
Marinette cannot tell Adrien that his father is Hawkmoth.
It eats her all over again.
…
“I think my dad is warming up to you,” Adrien says in a courtesy whisper, even though the previews have not started yet and the theater is empty save for them and an old man nodding off 10 rows ahead. His words are full of hope so deeply misplaced Marinette wonders if he’s lying to himself. “He’s been acting way less—Marinette?”
Oh. Adrien’s looking at her. It should be wonderful to have him look at her like that. But concern creases his brow. Marinette freezes. She feels it’s written all over her face. As if Adrien only stares close enough, he’d know the words playing in her head.
Your father is Hawkmoth, Adrien.
“You okay, Marinette?”
“Oh! Yeah. It’s—I just—it’s just I just have a headache, is all.” That part isn’t a lie. Marinette is bad at lying these days.
Would it have been better if it weren’t a solo mission? If Marinette knew she’d been heading directly into the bowels of Hawkmoth’s lair, she would have called for back-up. She hadn’t known it would be Hawkmoth’s lair. It was only supposed to be the Agreste family manor. She didn’t know until it was too late. She ran before she could think to call for back-up. What would Chat Noir have thought? What would he have done? She hasn’t seen him lately. She can’t ask him. She can’t tell him this secret, anyway.
“--Marinette?”
Oh. Adrien is still talking.
“Are you sure you’re okay? I can walk you back home if you’re—”
“I’m fine!” Lies. And Marinette is a bad liar these days. “Really. Just a headache. I was up too late studying. I have some Advil. I’ll just take some and—” Marinette reaches for a backpack strap which isn’t there. Right. She’s not at school.
“Here.” Adrien hands her his bag. “I’ve got some Advil in the front pocket. Have you eaten yet?”
“Um, no—”
“Then I’ll get some water and popcorn for us. That’ll help.” Adrien stands. The worry is still on his face. “Or, really we can just head home. If you’re not feeling well—”
“I’m fine, really! Popcorn, yes—popcorn would be good!”
He smiles at her. Gabriel Agreste is Hawkmoth. Adrien is smiling at her and he’s concerned for her. He has no idea how much he should be concerned for himself.
“I’ll be right back.” He leans down and plants a gentle kiss on her forehead. Marinette’s nerves buzz.
He can’t ever know.
And suddenly she’s alone. Holding Adrien’s bag. And it smells like him.
The previews kick on, stuttering and sudden. Marinette startles. The man 10 rows in front jolts awake. Marinette is out of her own mind for the few moments that the first preview holds her attention. She tries to follow it, tries to absorb its distraction, but her mind always pulls her back.
Hawkmoth.
Her head hurts.
Right… the Advil. In Adrien’s bag. Adrien her boyfriend and his dad is Hawkmoth—
Breathe.
Calm down. Come down.
Adrien said it was in the middle pocket, right?
Marinette unzips the middle zipper.
Two beetle-green cat slitted eyes blink up at her. Surprised, then scared, then vanishing all together, with just the remnants of a half-nibbled wedge of cheese to confirm Marinette had seen what she’d seen.
Marinette is good at not saying the words which only Ladybug should know.
Plagg?
She stares into the after-image. The previews fall quiet, and kick into the next film. Marinette isn’t breathing right, but her heart is racing. That was Chat Noir’s kwami. She knows she didn’t imagine it. And Plagg hid himself from her, because she is Marinette, and not Ladybug.
In Adrien’s bag.
Why in Adrien’s bag?
Marinette’s breathing gets shallower. She digs her fingers deeper into the pocket, pressing against the sickly sweaty sides of cheese wedges, until she hits something smooth, something hard, something small. She clasps her fingers around it and raises a single silver ring from the bag’s depths.
Marinette isn’t breathing.
When was the last time she saw Chat Noir?
“Marinette?”
She stows the ring, and snaps to attention. Adrien’s footsteps had always been quiet. She hadn’t noticed him return. He hands her a water bottle, and she takes it with her unoccupied hand.
“Here, for the Advil,” Adrien says, and he offers the popcorn in turn, though he hesitates at the new look on Marinette’s face. “Marinette, are you—?”
“I’m—NOT feeling well, actually…” Marinette says along a shaky exhale. “I’m just gonna go home.”
“Oh. Here, I can walk you—”
“I’ll just call my dad! Really. I don’t want to get you sick.”
“Oh… Okay, well—”
Marinette shoves his bag back at him, and she tries for a nod to temper the look on Adrien’s face before she pivots and stumbles through the row of theater seats.
She presses her fingers against the ring in her pocket as she pushes out of the theater.
She has to get this back to Chat Noir.
(If he’s still alive.)
She has to protect her own Miraculous.
(Assuming Adrien doesn’t already know.)
She has to protect all the others too.
From Hawkmoth.
From Gabriel Agreste.
(From his son.)
Was it foolish of her? To assume she knew something Gabriel’s own son didn’t?
To assume she was protecting Adrien from this?
Was it because Adrien never seemed anything like Hawkmoth?
(Marinette doesn’t seem anything like Ladybug.)
Why did she assume that she and the other Miraculous carriers were the only ones good at it?
The night air feels so much colder now. It’s the sweat on her face.
The son of Hawkmoth had kidnapped Chat Noir’s Miraculous.
A car narrowly avoids her, blaring its horn as it sweeps around. Marinette only touches her fingertips to her pocket, ensuring the ring is still there. Her ears, touching the earrings in place. The ghost of Adrien’s kiss lingers on her forehead.
(Why should only one Agreste be Hawkmoth?)
Marinette has three secrets.

Buddy Daddies, final thoughts.
I had such a fun time watching this show one episode at a time every Friday morning. I haven’t been this tuned in to an anime in a long time but I was so excited about this one from the beginning!
It’s so weird thinking back to everyone saying “it’s like Spy x Family with two guys” because that became inaccurate so fast haha we really thought it was going to be a light-hearted comedy... they really got us.
I loved the Wednesday previews, the music (especially the lofi remix!), the instagram posts, the notes, and whoever started the bingo, bless you! ♡
♡❤♡❤♡❤♡❤♡
Overall Buddy Daddies was a rollercoaster (not ferris wheel thank goodness)! I really could not guess where it was going from episode to episode, it could have gone in a million different directions, but I am so happy that this is the story we got.
The way Miri burst into everyone’s hearts from episode one ♡ and for a four/five year old, was shown to be such a great kid who wants to be accepted, wants to make friends, who sticks up for others, and who tells people when they’re doing something wrong.
Rei starting out as a stereotypical quiet mysterious dark haired character but becoming SO MUCH MORE. Sure it took him a minute but he was the one who FOUGHT for their family the most - he became the GLUE. We all thought it was going to be Kazuki, but it was Rei. He said ‘I want to be a family’ and then they DID.
Kazuki on the other hand, the overprotective mama hen, he created their family. He CHOSE Rei, chose to move in, chose to take care of him, to buy him a couch, cook for him, and stay with him. He took one look at Miri, smiled and chose to run after her - he didn’t have to do that during their mission. He chose to risk the mission to save her, to call himself her papa, to take her home. This means so much more knowing he’s an orphan who never had a family - he went and created one.
♡❤♡❤♡❤♡❤♡
About the queerness specifically ~
From what I saw -from the show- if I knew nothing about it and just hit play and watched all the way through...
Rei seemed ace/aro to me. He’s not shown to have any romantic or sexual relationships past, present, or time skip. This guy grew up with ZERO affection so it’s either he doesn’t know how, can’t, or isn’t interested. But there’s no attempt or interest, so aro/ace it is! Even with Kazuki, we see him accepting help, them clearly forming a bond to be living together for three+ years and be partners doing dangerous work together - that requires a lot of trust and we finally see that trust and teamwork in episode 12 - but it’s unspoken between them. They’re not affectionate with each other, not physically close, etc. (that we see anyway).
Kazuki definitely seems bi or pan. He’s obviously into women, but he also does this thing where he’s kind of flirty with guys in a joking way? (see images below) To me that’s nervous bisexual energy. That’s just the overall vibe I get from him too. Also that look he had on his face when he first saw Rei... suspicious.
Would I have liked it if they showed each other more affection? Yes! Especially in the later episodes. If their relationship was canon? Hell yes! Because I like BL and I think it would’ve been cute and also made sense and added to their character development.
There’s ~plenty~ of room to read into queerness in this show... I actually think it would be an even better story if they were in a relationship for a few reasons.
For Rei, finally being free to be his true self, being with someone for love and not for the family bloodline, to accept love and affection. And Kazuki, forgiving himself, letting himself be happy again, finding love again. I think that’s an amazing story for the both of them!
But they didn’t make it that way. This show isn’t (technically) a BL and that’s okay. They still both found happiness and family - and that’s what’s most important.
♡❤♡❤♡❤♡❤♡
Buddy Daddies was FUN and that could have been it but it was deeper than that, watching all of them grow and change together. The ending made me cry tears of joy and relief that they’re all happy and safe.
I have a few tiny things I didn’t like or would have changed, but they’re so minor looking back at the show as a whole.
I do wish they spread out the story, either with more episodes, longer episodes, or both. I wanted to see more small moments, more fluff, more day-to-day family activities, more Rei & Kazuki being friends and having regular conversations, and more assassin scenes with them working together like in the beginning of ep. 1 and in ep. 12. We mostly saw them mess up their work... I wanted to see more action!!
But the show did SO MUCH more than expected with this story.
The ending episode was AMAZING!! We got to see them fight together for themselves and their family, we saw them being there for Miri, and the time skip!!!! I CRIED EVERY TIME I WATCHED THE TIME SKIP SCENE!!! Miri growing up to be a lovely happy healthy girl. Rei & Kazuki owning a diner at the beach. A simple life full of love and acceptance.
From episode 1, did I think Buddy Daddies would make me cry? NO
Did I think I would post this much about this show? NO I wasn’t planning on posting about it at all!
But here we are crying and spending all day/night on tumblr sharing our thoughts, reading the thoughts of others. It’s been a blast!

Dearest Ange,
The penultimate episode is upon is. And maybe I was delusional in believing something great was coming when I saw people from SDCC saying it was really good, the best, better than Rook's Rest. I don't know how divisive this opinion of mine will be, but- it was not. Not close. I usually try to start our little tradition by putting some positives first and to be honest, I find it really difficult to do this time around because of the staggering way this episode was split- I can count the team green scenes on one hand, and that annoys me to no end- so I'll try and do it at the end. And the thing is, I'm not a book purist in the slightest. I believe that when changes are made, once they're for the better, then I'm for it, once the essence, themes, and overarching messages are still there. And yes, I'm aware that Fire and Blood is written as an unreliable historical account. But to me, the entire Dance of the Dragons, among many things, is about how regardless of who you think is the rightful heir to the throne, Rhaenyra or Aegon, is that both these factions commit atrocious acts in times of war, most of these characters are not cartoonish villains, or a faultless hero, a superman or sorts. They are ambitious, prejudiced, and many of them are uncaring of how the war impacts the smallfolk, because their emotions and ambitions drive them.
Their faults and complexities make them as likeable or as unlikeable. Aemond's cruelty makes him unlikeable to some, but then that unwavering love and loyalty to his family, that makes us like him. Rhaenyra loves her children, her family, and when Lucerys dies, she lets go of reason and becomes "Maegor with Teats"- and people would root for her. Yet she's also as entitled, and prejudiced as the rest of the nobles- this makes her a unlikeable. These are just two examples, yet their show translations seeks to amplify the villainous traits of Aemond, and downplay Rhaenyra's faults, because she serves the 'higher purpose' of the Conqueror's dream. We only get shrivels of Aemond's complexity because of Ewan's stellar acting, and Emma, despite having any complexity of her character stripped away to be the pinnacle of moral greatness in the show, does well with what she's given, too.
And I know that these are thing's we've hashed over and over, and I had put them aside but this episode just....bored me. The entire dragonseed plot, while yes, is a book event, does take place, was just boring to me. Was it cool to see more dragons? Yes. Was I on my phone more times than I'll admit during the episode? Yes.
And I wanted to like it, I did, even though much of me is watching for love of the actors- some of which I hardly see. I remember during the episode I kept tapping the screen to see how much time had passed so many times, because I was like okay? We've been at Dragonstone for like forever? Show me Aemond at his council, more of him interacting with Helaena and her daughter, or Alicent, or Aegon, or even him alone, anything. Sorry if my little review felt overly negative this week, Ange. Here are my positives:
Aemond on a horse- it made me giggle idk why
Vermithor and Silverwing, even though I always pictured Silverwing as more shimmery
Alys, even though she's not in this episode
Gwayne, even though he's not in this episode
Aemond on a horse....again
Helaena and Aemond in the preview (We both know it'll probably be just a tease to nothing, like the last time, but I like to delude myself it seems)
One more to go, Ange, and though I'm disappointed, I do like sending my little post-show asks. Interacting in fandom has hurt me in the past, but our little thing's making me come out of my shell more and more.
-🦋 anon
Oh, and I hope Ryan Condal sleeps with both sides of his pillow humid, hot and miserable, like he's made me watching this season.
I am so glad these exchanges are helping you to come out of your shell, and I am beyond flattered that I am able to provide a space in which you feel comfortable doing so! I hope you continue to once this season finishes - honestly, once the season ends is when the fun stuff happens. People's brains switch from taking in and processing every episode, to creating for what they have seen, and I think we have been given a bucketload to work with this season. I'm excited to see what people are inspired to create, as well as getting stuck in myself.
Onto my episode thoughts!
What on earth was the point of Alicent's depression camping trip? Visually stunning, but utterly meaningless to the plot. Yes, she's fallen out with Aemond, but Aegon and Helaena both need her and she's fucked off to skinny dip and sulk in the woods. UGH.
I do not understand the timeline we are working with at all here - last episode, Aegon resembled a half cooked pizza, his leg was still broken. Now Orwyle has him up and about, and attempting to walk? His burns look healed? WHAT???
That scene of Jasper telling Larys about Seasmoke was utterly pointless and I'm angry that it was laid over the top of one of the only Aemond scenes we were given this entire episode.
No Helaena. Otto isn't back in King's Landing yet. Why are they hiding the Greens from us?!
I thought Rhaena would claim Sheepstealer this episode. I would like to see more of her tracking him. I feel like when she actually does get him to bend his neck to her, it's going to feel rushed. This is something they could have spread out over a few episodes, and I wouldn't have minded.
I loved seeing so much more of the dragons this episode. They all have such interesting designs. I think I find Syrax the most aesthetically pleasing, because she looks like a Boglin and it's cute.
In this episode I do feel we got a glimmer of Rhaenyra being as cruel and callous as Team Green have been portrayed to be - simply shutting all of those people in with Vermithor, knowing they would likely die, and having given them no instructions for how to actually lay claim to a dragon is wildly irresponsible, and she didn't seem at all perturbed by the fact that he was burning and eating them all alive. Unfortunately, to mainstream viewers that will be perceived as something to be revered than to be critical of though.
I'm glad that Daemon's storyline has been pushed along, now that he has the fealty of the River Lords, despite the fact they all fucking hate him lmao fingers crossed that that is the last of the hallucinations.
I very much enjoyed Aemond's two thirds of a Valyrian triathlon - the horse, and then dragonback. His physicality is so interesting to watch, and it was cool to see him panic at the sight of all of the dragons on Dragonstone.
This episode was hit and miss for me, and I cannot help but wonder what sort of a cliff hanger they are gonna end season two on! There's going to be a death, I can sense it...

my mom likes one piece
I've jus been showing her videos on YouTube for arc and saga summaries and character analysis videos, should i.... like... send her the link to the podfic???(She's a listener than a reader) Like she likes this sense of humour soooo
also, MY FRIEND IS COMING OVER ON SUNDAY TO HANG OUT, DO I SHOW THEM THIS?? THEY DON'T WATCH ONE PIECE BUT UNLESS I SNEAK TO THE BATHROOM AND READ CHAPTER 101 WTF DO I DO??? answer me pookie, I'm in quite a situation, otherwise I'll send you debt(yes im using the threat i used last time when i used to be anon when I asked abour ace... I'll do it pookie... I'll do it)
Lmao my mom likes One Piece too, just the live action tho. She saw the preview of the first episode of the anime said “oh god. Why does he looks like that” and I knew we would never be the same person. SHE does not know I write this and the idea of a mother reading it boggles my mind, but if you think it fits her humour the podfic is phenomenal so I highly recommend it.
Lmaooooo girl sneak to the bathroom??? Just sit in the corner yell “IM GONNA MALADAPDIVE DAYDREAM FOR LIKE 20 MINUTES, ILL BE BACK LATER” and Lock In.
Please do not put me in debt I have to give my college the monies so they’ll give me a piece of paper and I have a crippling addiction to ordering food that is already doing more damage than you could.

Love Sea ep 1 thoughts
a little ramble/unorganized post of thoughts on ep 1 of love sea. so i watched the first ep twice, since the first time i was partially live tweeting some of my reactions and missed a few things. i enjoyed it!! quite a bit too, mostly bc i love fortpeat and i'll gobble up absolutely anything they're in. as with mame stories, in order to enjoy them to the fullest, my brain is off, my fujin glasses are on.
first off: gorgeous shots, even more gorgeous setting. i Love bright colors, and this island is really giving just that. like... NATURE!! so much green from the trees and the underwater shots are so good as well. i'm gonna be a little sad when they return to the city. not sure what episode this will land on but my guess is around ep 4? if they keep the pacing as it is right now.
this was a solid first episode. we get introduced to the main cast, their jobs, and a bit of their personality. and the end of the episode gives a glimpse of tongrak's trauma and a preview of the looming problem that should come to light as the series progresses. i'm honestly Very curious how they're going to handle the main conflict, if they're going to take anything out or change it. i am open to what changes they May do since i've already seen a (in my opinion) good change they made for the last scene on the boat.
in the novel, tongrak actually slaps mut when he tries to wipe his tears. yes, full on bitch slap to the face. which, honestly, when i read that part, i looked up from my phone and was like "ok...but why....." so i'm glad they took it out. i'm not mad about having a slap scene in general, but it seemed like a weird reaction (to me), even with the knowledge of WHY rak behaves the way he does. no spoilers, but i had that ????? reaction more than once throughout the novel so hopefully they're able to better translate book scenes to screen. i'll keep my expectations measured regardless.
i'm also wondering if they're going to have conner show up since we have his voice. not gonna lie, i was 90% expecting them to have silence on the other side when talking to conner on the phone. sorry for not believing in u mame lol.. and speaking of PHONE CALLS, idk if i'm traumatized from LITA but i audibly Cheered when i heard proper phone call audio effects. can u tell my expectations for the audio direction were in the ground lmao. and i'm still holding my breath bc LITA had proper call audio in the first ep but dropped it later. praying for consistency over here.
putting my fears aside, PEAT'S STYLING IN THIS SERIES!!! he looks sooo good. and fort in that wetsuit ho my god... so many good visuals here. also i know i read the novel, but i was still completely unprepared for the tongrak attempted seduction scene... i knew it would happen but i wasn't ready to see it with my eyeballs!!! that was WAY more skin than i expected. earlier this week, peat was saying we'd get to see his thighs in ep 1. SIR, we saw much more than that!!! got me screaming at 10am. fortpeat are doing so well here. fort is in his element completely with mahasamut, and peat does vulnerability so so well. i'm excited to see them in more emotional scenes.
now for extra scattered thoughts below ↓
i'm just glad for the brighter setting to see peat's eyes in the light. BEAUTIFUL
2. love sand in the corner of mook's desk and test love on the floor! i enjoy the mame universe easter eggs.
3. the live laugh love-esque font made me laugh sorry
4. MMY WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET THIS PHOTOSET IN PREMIUM HD
5. tongrak is stronger than me. if someone started reading my wip i'd shut my screen so fast
anyways i'm VERY excited to see more fortpeat in action. i wrote this post to keep track of my own thoughts, but if you found this and happened to read it, thank you for your time!!
#love sea the series#love sea#i love fortpeat so much i purchased the evil Eye Que corporation subscription#bl drama ramble

Be My Favorite Ep 11 First Thoughts
Okay, I took a lunch break at work to get this out, watched the episode and am writing this down now, before I read what everyone else thought later: I really, really liked this episode. Once again this show manages to never lie to us in the trailer and yet still take us by surprise in terms of how things play out in the episode. I have to say, I was really tickled by the fact that a time travel show faked out time travel in the episode preview by showing us clips from a time skip (but then still gave us time travel because it never lies)!
We got more from Kawi and Pisaeng's first time, first at the beginning of the episode where we saw more of their intimacy and all of the careful checking and non-verbal consent taking place after the verbal consent [btw Krist did a decent job of telegraphing comfort and intimacy here, I appreciated the arms around Pisaeng's neck] and a little more at the end, where we get more of the amusement park date and it shows us that Kawi wasn't lying when he said he had a good time. With that additional context I no longer needed a conversation, there was enough happening to be on the same page around Kawi's fears about intimacy and how he and Pisaeng moved past them together. I still think Kawi could be on the ace/demi spectrum and I feel for everyone who was hoping for explicit representation and didn't get it from this show 💕 You're visible and you're valid, friends!
Pear reading the poem over the montage was lovely and I really enjoyed that as a way of showing everyone reaching a new point in their different journeys at the same time (love that everyone gets to grow in this show except for Not, which is as it should be).
[Also just saying that this montage perfectly set up my clown theory for what the final post-credit scene will be for this show lol]
The flashback to the explanation about time travel was a bit oddly placed but I took him reflecting on it in this moment to be the closing chapter of Kawi's growth, that he finally fully understands the lesson that Time Travel Guy was trying to teach him and he's going to live in the moment from now on. This sets us up for the story pivot to Pisaeng as the protagonist later in the episode.
The relationship montage was so lovely! At first I was worried they were trying to show couples growing apart but it became clear that it was about finding a sustainable balance in a relationship. Love that Kawi gets a second set of covers and still cuddles with Pisaeng when they sleep, for example.
Kawi getting sick and having a flu turn life-threatening immediately had me thinking immediately about COVID and I have a lot of complicated feelings about the show not naming COVID.
The scene with the doctor was absolutely shattering, "are you his family?" ...and the pause where Pisaeng knew he couldn't say yes even though that's the true answer. Fuck every government that does not legally recognize our importance to one another. This is even more devastating with Kawi who literally has nobody else.
Pisaeng going back in time makes perfect sense considering his guilt and his desperation. What I really love about the switch between Kawi as main character and Pisaeng as the main character is that Pisaeng is getting an arc. It's so interesting that he's taking the chance now that he knows what he has to lose, rather than before when Time Travel guy offered to help him and Pisaeng was confident he didn't need it. I'm wondering what the show thinks Pisaeng needs to learn; the chance to learn to live for himself rather than for Kawi? To be able to manage not being in control? Or is this less about a learning opportunity and just a chance to get to spend more time with the love of his life, along the lines of Eternal Yesterday?
I'm wondering about the timing of this event in the timeline: I think this was around the time Kawi travelled the first time, assuming Pear's marriage is taking place at the same time in the various timelines just to someone else in almost each one. So now I'm wondering whether Kawi got the chance to try again because he was about to die in the first timeline (since that seems to be something that can't be changed, along the lines of Kawi's dad).
If that's the case, then I would anticipate that Pisaeng being sent back in time is his opportunity to process his guilt, grief, and fears about Kawi 's death with Kawi, come to terms with the fact that he has to face his present, and then travel back to....I really hope find out that Kawi does not die. But I'm kind of getting the sense that he will. As Time Travel guy says, he's used up all his luck. And as Pear's dad said in ep10, there's no such thing as a perfect life because change happens, so you need to be able to be resilient to change.
[I don't think we'll get a Once Again ending because this show is all about living in the present and living a time loop just so that you can be together would be completely counter to that.]
What I want to happen is for Pisaeng to get strength from past-Kawi to face his present, have Kawi survive, and let them process together about living without regrets so they can face whatever comes without time travel. And maybe join Max in fighting for marriage equality.
[Also sidenote, I wonder whether Kawi being less ultra-famous in this timeline is a side effect of him being in an open and public relationship with Pisaeng? He's still clearly doing music work but their apartment doesn't have the same accoutrements from his career that the other timeline did. I may be reading too much into it though; it's also possible that he prioritized their relationship more than he did his relationship with Pear, or just didn't decorate the same way in this timeline, or a mix of these.]
Excited to read everyone's thoughts!
[edit: @waitmyturtles just saw your note! Tagging you here a bit late]

No Subs watch of My Personal Weatherman Ep 5
There will likely be spoilers but not about any of the dialogue because I don't understand what's being said.
-Talking to....editor I guess?? Not good news 😟😟😟
-Opening credits. God these men are so pretty!!!!
-Being depressed on your living room floor- relatable.
-Being depressed on the floor in front of your washing machine- slightly less relatable.
-The lighting in this scene is gorgeous though. Reminds me of the aquarium.
-Daddy's home!!! I mean....nah that's kinda what I meant. 😁
-As much as he adores Yoh, I know this silence is bothering him. Were Segasaki a lesser man he would get (visibly) frustrated, but he stays very gentle. 🥺🥺
-Now Daddy's cooking .... the feelings. The hand close ups. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 (Sometimes I worry I'm a little too honest on this site.)
-Ooooohhhh. Yummy 😋😋😋
-Anyone else feel like Yoh was like a little bit pissed that Segasaki's food is so good? 🤣 That look just felt a little bit like "Goddammit! You got to be good at this too?!"
-Ooohhhh what did Segasaki say to get that response?? (Edit after continuing- I'm going to assume he was 'asking' Yoh about taking a bath.)
-That smirk 😏😏😏😏
-Segasaki's hand on Yoh's cheek. *Swoon* That deserves its own compilation I think.
-Now we're in the tub 🛀 and Segasaki wants to know why Yoh is so sad. (Remember these are guesses, I can't understand unless it's one of about 15 Japanese words I know...or their names.)
-Yes more affection via hair drying!!! One of my favorite things!!! (Surprised it's not a Dyson blow dryer. I keep seeing them in so many shows, even ones where characters are poor and it makes no sense.)
-We've never seen Segasaki's room have we??
-Yoh instigating kisses 🤭🤭🤭🤭 And more than just kisses??🫣🫣🫣~~~Okay I did have to at least Google translate that interaction, because the vibes were very odd to me. Totally makes sense with the internal monologue Yoh had going. He wants to forget....and that would help him forget. But Segasaki knows what his game is and he's not going to let him hide, literally and metaphorically.
-Yoh the sad little homemaker is depressing me.
-There's something so weird to me about drying a shirt on a hanger. I live in a clothesline household, & line dry clothes all the time, but this is just odd to me. It arguably makes more sense, since clothespins will mess up your clothes sometimes, it's just a bit jarring.
-That is why we have clothespins.
-Yummy ramen. I had that for lunch yesterday. Homemade is yummy, but instant hits different sometimes.
-I think I hate the newscaster lady just bc Yoh does 🤣. (sub solidarity)
-Man-san...Yes I still adore her. Her fashion is a VIBE!! Also her eyebrows are so dynamic. I love it.
-OMG she drew them!!! That's so cute!!!
-IDK what she said, but I imagine it's something along the lines of "See, you make a perfect couple."
-Yoh is so cute. There's a plan for something, though I don't know what?
-They put Segasaki in all of these softly cuddly sweaters at home and I just don't know how anyone is supposed to resist cuddling him.... ykwim?
-I don't know what this conversation is about, but it feels a lot like Segasaki is saying "I can tell when you're lying to me my guy." 😬😬😬
-Did this man just bite him???🤣🤣Well I certainly saw that one, bite confirmed, and it was not a gentle nibble.
-The way Segasaki rubs his head on Yoh like a cat. 🥺😭
-Ope.....well that ended... violently.
-I have mixed feelings about the keychain 🫤 (attempting to minimize spoilers). I understand it, & based on the dynamic of the relationship, I'm okay with it, but I fear it may cause more trouble in the future....😬
-Segasaki looks so sad. 😢😢😢
-Well the preview for next ep includes more Man-san and Mr. Man-san, which I like. According to the Twitters, we're getting complete backstory of the college stuff, which looks very interesting. Also it looks like next ep. will be two weeks away instead of one 😩😩😩😩
#My Personal Weatherman#segasaki x yoh#Mizuki x yoh#i cant remember if i used a spwcific tag for these#shoot

for some reason none of the dozens of websites i use have ep 7 yet, and im leaving for work soon and dying at being unable to see the episode until late tonight, can you please spoil under the cut for me what happens with tim and hawk? thanks.
Oh anon. It was a lot so I will try to do it justice in a summary
SPOILERS AHEAD
It's 1978 and Tim and Frankie are working together in San Francisco. Hawks' son, Jackson (sweet poet boy) has passed away from an accidental heroin overdose and Hawk has turned to alcohol and drugs to, in true Hawk fashion, try to numb his pain. He's been drunkenly calling Tim and begging to see him so Tim breaks down and calls Lucy to basically ask her permission to see him (🤧) Their daughter starts asking questions about who Tim is and what her dad's relationship is to him (I really thought that conversation would be present day)
Lucy tells Tim she doesn't know where he is but Hawk has sent Tim a post card letting him know he's in Fire Island. Because it's Skippy he of course shows up at Hawks house (apparently he owns property on Fire Island because of course he does) and there are a few other men staying in the house with him, including his boy toy, Craig (I hate Craig, as will you. Everyone will hate Craig). We learn that Tim has started seeing a man named Arthur who is a poet (sweet sweet Timmy). Tim wants to talk but Hawk just wants to drink, do drugs and fuck around. After attempting to talk about Jackson leads to a fight, Tim drops it and he and Hawk spend the day doing all the things you do on Fire Island. Tim indulges in the lifestyle as well which leads to an interlude between them and Craig (and yes that kind of interlude) but during the deed Hawk discovers a picture of his son that Craig was looking at and loses his mind. He threatens to kill Craig and, thankfully, Craig shows himself out after that. Cue the crying Hawk scene we saw in the episode preview.
It leads to a beautiful Tim and Hawk poolside conversation about Jackson and how worthless and guilty Hawk feels. Tim is Tim and it's beautiful and perfect and gives a very brief glimmer of hope for them. Hawk ruins it the very next morning by taking drugs again. Tim feels like an idiot for once again having more faith in Hawk than he should and tells him he's through with him and finally free of him. Hawk begs him not to leave him but Tim leaves anyway and Hawk immediately gets rid of the drugs and then we get a scene of him calling his daughter and telling her that he's coming home.
There are some really good Marcus and Frankie scenes as well. Their storyline takes place in San Francisco in the immediate aftermath of the Harvey Milk murder trial verdict. It's powerful stuff and definitely needs to be seen.
The final scene is set in the 80's and it's Hawk at Tim's apartment picking up some things to take to the hospital for him. We find out that Tim has kept the postcard Hawk sent him from Fire Island all those years ago (rip us all 🤧) and when Hawk arrives back at the hospital he is informed that Tim suffered another seizure and it ends with Hawk kissing him on the forehead and holding vigil at his bedside 😭😭 (we all know what's coming but it's going to kill us all)
#this doesn't begin to do the episode justice#and i fear lots of people will hate the episode on principle#but here you go#episode 8 will kill us all#fellow travelers spoilers

You know, looking back on it, it actually doesn’t really make sense that Willow helped cut Hunter’s hair in ttt? It would’ve made more sense for it to be Amity (we see Emira help her with cutting and coloring, so it’s not a stretch she’d know how to do a small haircut) or Luz or Camila (we see later in the episode that Luz once cut her hair with a sword, which is implied to be what led to her current haircut, which means she and her mom likely know a bit about post disaster haircut fixing). But instead it’s Willow, who… I dunno, maybe she does something sorta similar with plants? But then I feel like pruning plants would be much different than cutting hair. This isn’t like a huge gripe, it’s just a little thing that I didn’t even realize until months later, but given those screenshots you shared from that storyboarder, I feel like it fits into a pattern h/l shippers follow of forcing Willow into roles that don’t fit or would be better suited to other characters for the sake of their ship.
Noooo it's definitely h/l shippers on crew forcing Willow into a role that doesn't fit her/would be better suited for someone else. I actually genuinely thought it was Camila who would've cut his hair after we first saw his new cut in a preview, like you said considering she most likely did Luz's hair. Albeit, yes, we later find out Luz did it with a sword, but again, she probably cleaned it up to the best of her abilities as a busy mother afterwards lmao. That would make the most sense to me, and would be a nice tick on the Hunter Noceda train for that half of the fandom. The Amity cutting his hair theory, I will admit, I didn't think about until I saw others on Tumblr suggesting it. And I actually loved that theory, too, and assumed that would make sense because of Emira regularly dying and cutting her hair for her. It would make sense for her to bond with someone else (especially someone Luz cares a lot about as well) the same way she did with her sister, because she's learning from example, y'know? It's not like she would've learned it from Alador or Odalia lmao. Plus, I feel like that would be a nice, idk how to say but, follow up (?) to their fight at Eclipse Lake where Amity is telling him to let himself find people that care about him. Being someone he's hurt in the past for Belos, it would be far more poignant for her to come in, mid panic attack, understand what's going through his head, and help him. Showing both Hunter and the viewers that there are people that care about him and that he's not alone. Also, would be a very good way to show the stark contrast between Hunter thinking that he's unforgiveable for who he is/what he's done for someone that, like I said before, he hurt as the Golden Guard to offer him kindness (forgiveness, but unsaid) & understanding. Either way you slice it, it should've been imo one of those two that cut his hair, hands down. Willow should've never been involved in that scene. It makes it seem disjointed & out of place (and fanfic-y) considering the lack of interaction they have the rest of the entire episode and third season in general aside from forced ship-y moments.

I want to be excited about the sex after reconciliation thing but for all we know they're gonna cut or shorten the scenes leading up to it and we won't get the full weight of their feelings or relationship. my dream would be that top confronts mew and tells him he's done, mew has a heart to heart with his moms who help him see reason, he calls top over (please let him initiate it) and then they finally talk it all out. and then after that there better not be anymore surprises or cheap drama but I don't have much faith right now since they basically told us topmew are considered an afterthought and all bc they catered to the dumb ass fans. I really really hope they prove me wrong but idk anymore.
I mean if they are listening to fan feedback...I doubt they will cut scenes this week. There was quite a bit of backlash at the preview scene being cut that Jojo tried several times to get people to calm down and responding with the blurry pic and telling people asking to wait and soon when asking when Mew would smile again or when a good TopMew episode would be. And I usually have a rule to not bug a creator like that but if that's what it takes for them to understand that we want TopMew and ForceBook scenes kept...and I just saw that GMMTV is basing things more off of engagement than how well a show does so it looks like who screams the loudest will win is the new world order. But honestly who knows...it's disappointing and frustrating to know that we aren't getting the story they envisioned due to fans not understanding the characters.
Going back and rewatching the preview definitely made me more confident that Top will draw a line in the sand with Mew. His tone is a lot harsher than it's been since the breakup. If not...well we'll see if they make it work. For me, they've dragged it out long enough and if TopMew reconciles next episode there better not be another breakup since they already did that essentially with Boeing. And yes I need them to TALK to each other. Ideally Mew has a heart to heart with his moms and he decides to truly give Top another chance and they actually hash things out. And then I only want fluffy happy times in episode 12. We've suffered enough. This is me right now:

Triumvirate Prompts: Day 1
(Prompts Link)
#1. All-Time Favorite Moment
So I absolutely suck at picking one specific thing. So I'm just going to list a couple of episodes/films off the top of my head
The Enemy Within
It's the earliest we see the Triumvirate together, and it's great. We have Kirk, split apart and unable to make any decisions. Spock, acting as his logical/commanding half and reminding him or the reality of the situation as well as of his duty as the Captain. McCoy, acting as Kirk's emotional half, easing his fears and unwilling to recklessly risk his life. It's a great preview of what we can expect from these three.
The City on the Edge of Forever
It's minor, I know. But their reunion at the end of the episode before the Bad Thing happens is freakin' adorable. Kirk and Spock last saw McCoy in a crazed state, and have only been able to wait for him to show up in the 20th Century. And when he does show up, that means that Kirk is going to have to let Edith die for the same of the timeline. McCoy, meanwhile, is recovering from his accidental drugging and is unaware if any help is coming. The second that McCoy walks out of the Mission? How overjoyed that Kirk and, yes, even Spock are to see him safe? Kirk and McCoy hugging and Spock aggressively shaking his hand? Beautiful.
Amok TIme
Again minor, but Spock asking both Kirk and McCoy to accompany him to Vulcan. It really shows how much he trusts and values both of them, and they're both more than happy to go along. Yeah, things get out of hand because of it, but it's the thought that counts~
The Tholian Web
Technically, it's a Spock and McCoy moment, but it involves Jim still. After having been at each other's throats for most of the episode, the two finally watch Kirk's will. Where Kirk encourages them to work together and rely on each other. It's pretty much his way of saying 'I'm gone but you still have each other, don't forget that." It humbles them both immediately as they both get a moment to actually mourn their friend (okay he's not dead, but they don't know that yet) and realize that they need to work together to save the ship. It says so much about how much Kirk trusts them and how much they care for him.
The Final Frontier
I really didn't like the movie at first, but I've been coming around to it more. It's nice to just see the Triumvirate, after everything int he three films prior, just get to be together. The camping scenes are so much fun, and it's nice to see them all at ease and away from the Enterprise and space and all that stuff. Even when things get bad, nothing breaks their loyalty to one another, not even Sybok's mental abilities. Say what you want about the film, but in terms of the Triumvirate's bond, they 100% got it right.
And there's plenty more, but I don't want to make this too long or try to remember them all. But yeah, I love these three idiots so much~

Kingohger ep13
gosh does anybody die in this show
!! Himeno in brown ponytail!! ♥♥
okay already get the amount of rita from the op shot (scarce)
Jeramie's in the op now!!!!
i saw the choco in store the other day and pass on it because there's no rita, turns out there's only the prime 3 😂
Stop bullying Shiokara 😭😭
Baby Yanma Baby Yanma
Workshop?? New location 👀👀
Shiokara: What is personal space
THAT DRESS IS AMAZING
BABY YANMA BABY YANMA
okay new song 🤣👍
tbh i like it
Ahh i love this montage
are we getting origin flashback with Jeramie visiting every country?
ooh so the gun is from his mother and the dagger his father?
Yanma's ringtone is the cheer he held for Gira 🤣🤣
GAWD Yanma two minutes ago I was moved by how you climb to the top and stay considrate for your people can you NOT play an excrement prank
NO TAKANO-SAN STOP WRITING EXCREMENT GAGS 🤣
("don't you want to know what happened more than 2000 years ago? Before the war?") SHIRITAIIIIII!!!!!!
So are the kingdoms built before or after the war?? If five "kings" defeated the bugnaroks there has to be kingdoms before that? Is Papa Brasieri a prince or a king?? (if he's a king he shouldn't have to fear exile...)
They HAVE to tell us why Rita is hanging out with Kagu that often other than the Sentai numbering system
wait is Rita just responding to a Bug Distress Call and Kaguragi waved them over as if there's a spare seat at their table out on a Sunday brunch
(okay after listening to the raw more clearly Sebastian called them together)
yeah… so that's Rita's best shot this ep…
so surreal to hear "Stop arguing" coming out of Yanma.
omg…
RIP Yanma Gust
That Mirage bug taking the fall for Yanma again 🤣
Love the action going through with the setting that Yanma sucks at swordfighting and would avoid it any means possible (would explain why he invented an extra weapon)
Gira has to have exposed himself this time…?
*claps* Rita designated floor time!! (wait why am i so happy about this)
So if Gira hear Sasorinu from not its God Soul but its mecha, then its consciousness is actually in the mecha, contrary to the literal meaning? But it would fit how Kabutan is controlled against its will with its God Soul in ep4. That would also answer why Gira can control God Kuwagata without a soul stone.
ugh this year's Sixth is so cool
TOLD YOU I DON'T TRUST HIM hmmmm 🤔
ookay Jeramie got himself a retainer (?)
Overall impression:
fairly relaxed. Yanma and Jeramie didn't outright fight because Jeramie is too OP at the moment, but a lot of decent character moments. Shiokara is MVP honestly. Love the whole mood in Yanma's flashback as conveyed by the camera work and insert song. Rita shots are scarce but (4, as I exactly expected). I've been watching stage shows lately (just to fill the void) and with how tight the plot in KO is, kinda miss the MOTW format and this ep is refreshing to see.
ep14 preview:
! yes wanting to know how Himeno's revenge plot would resolve ever since learing about Jeramie's cicada mech!
is this gonna be the same structure of individual focus like the prologue arc...? No...?
MOFFUN TO ISSHO OOOH MOFFUN WE ARE REALLY IN IT NOW
bro don't tell me Jeramie wrote Moffun or IS Moffun
I have no words I'm too excited for next week's episode
I thought 14 is going to be a Nichijou episode like 9 being pre-arc-finale, but the pace adjustment is already done in 13 so 14 is going to have big reveals that lead to all them working together by 15.
What's the next arc if God's Anger is resolved in 14??
We may or may not get Rita origin (but I think their story is more complex than Yanma's flashback this ep, so that could come back again.)
Magazine scans say Jeramie will be in the spotlight but I have no idea what to expect. Some more games with Racles?

You’re right. I do want in because there are so, so many — and a lot of mine don’t have clips, sadly.
-The Pink Lady with Hazel Dawn, a frothy little 1911 musical at the New Amsterdam Theater before Flo Ziegfeld moved the Follies in. (Though he was a producer of this.) Main reason? My mom bought the score for this at a flea market for a quarter, so I grew up hearing the music. At one point, Hazel Dawn played “The Pink Lady Waltz” on stage with a violin.
-The Ziegfeld Follies of almost any year, but if I had to pick one, it would be 1915. W.C. Fields, Bert Williams, Ina Claire, Mae Murray, Olive Thomas, Marion Davies, and Ann Pennington were in the cast and the song “Hello, Frisco!” was introduced.
-The original cast of A Chorus Line, which I missed on my senior class trip in ‘77, though I did get to see Annie with the original cast, including Dorothy Loudon. “What I Did for Love” was the unofficial song of the drama section of our graduating class, because even at that age, the question, “What would you do if you couldn’t dance any longer?” resonated strongly with us. (There is, btw, a not great version of a B&W video taking at the Public Theater before the show went to Broadway on YouTube. I listen more than I watch, but that moment is still heartbreaking.)
youtube
-The Bandwagon, 1931. Another musical review and another one at The New Amsterdam, though this one was produced after the the Follies had ended. It was the last Broadway show Fred Astaire did with his sister Adele before she retired from the stage to marry and English lord. (Yes, the film Royal Wedding is partially based on her.) Frank Morgan was also in the cast, and that would have been a treat.
-Anything Goes, 1934, with Ethel Merman creating the role of Reno Sweeney. She did the role for the movie version, but Merman and the movie camera never seemed to be a great fit because she was too big. Would have loved to see her fill the stage with her personality, hitting back of the balcony in those days before there microphones.
youtube
And it’s so hard to pick just five. I’d love to have seen Pacific Overtures, but there’s also recording shot for Japanese Television out there on YT with the original cast, including Mako (and better quality than the Chorus Line video) . https://youtu.be/MQ546PASgHI?si=X8vvHvsWDdlSFVi1
youtube
I’d put Dreamgirls on the list, but I did get to see it with Jennifer Holiday here in Los Angeles when it opened on tour. (And she was amazing.) A Day in Hollywood, A Night In the Ukraine was another premiere tour production, a show that does not get enough productions, because we all need a revue of great classic movie songs performed by the ushers at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, including a tap dance rendition of the Motion Picture Code, and a second act which is the “great play Chekov never wrote” starring the Marx Brothers and Margaret Dumont. But there’s also Chess, which I saw in London and just missed in New York. Probably should put Les Miz on the list since that is a show I have managed to miss in London, New York and Los Angeles.
One show I really wouldn’t want to see was a muscial originally called Odyssey when I saw it on pre-Broadway tour. Starring Yul Brynner and Joan Diener, it’s one of the more notorious flops on Broadway. When I saw it, the show clearly needed work, but had some funny bits, especially Yul Brynner, who was hysterical as Odysseus masquerading as the beggar when he arrives home. But the show was re-worked quite a bit more, and not to good advantage. By the time it hit Broadway, it was retitled Home, Sweet Homer, and had 11 previews and 1 performance. Some stories say the closing notice as up as soon as the opening (and only) performance was finished. Other stories say it was posted during the intermission.
You have 5 tickets and a time machine to see any Broadway shows in the past
Which 5 shows are you seeing? It could even be off Broadway, a show you’ve already seen, a show you’ll never get to see, ANYTHING. Put your 5 shows in the hashtags…

Reader is mutual friends with Urban through someone else and she owns an urban art studio and she does a show just for Urban as a favor and it’s like an art show-party thing and it’s super chill. Urban brings Jack and a few others (naturally). At some point a few Jack songs come on in between others (Killer, Rotten, Smells like Incense and others like those) and he asks who’s playlist it is and Urban introduces them and they hit it off super well. I have had this idea for so long it’s like fully developed in my mind but I’m so bad at writing stuff down, sorry 😭
On Friday Night, Y/N hosted a preview of Urban Wyatt's first photography exposition titled "No Place Like Home", which took place at the La Canavagio Gallery owned by Y/N family in West Hollywood.
It was an intimate private party with close friends of Urban and family members and a few influencers in attendance.
As some background information about the exposition, the work consisted of a photography collection from his early works as a college dropout when he started working alongside Jack Harlow up until Jack Harlow's last tour "No Place Like Home".
You couldn’t be prouder of him and how much he had accomplished, so when he asked you to help him exhibit his work at your gallery, you were honored and more than happy to do it.
The after-party was held at the gallery and you had just finished talking to a group of friends when “Smells like Incense” started playing.
“Whose playlist is that?” you heard someone asking a few feet away from you.
“Y/N” you heard someone calling from behind only to realize it was Urban.
“I wanna introduce you to someone”
As you look beside him you saw no other than Jack Harlow smiling at you.
“Hey, I’m Jack Harlow” he said offering his hand for you to shake it.
“Y/N”
“Thanks for doing this for Urban as his friend it means a lot”
“Oh its nothing, besides we grew up together”
“You’re from Kentucky?”
“I was, but I moved when I was 13 to L.A. By the way, Urban hasn’t stopped talking about you so It's nice to finally meet you”
“I bet he has told you a lot about me”
“Well yea he talks a lot about you”
"By the way, is that your playlist?"
"Yes," you said shyly.
"Its cool, people rarely listen to anything besides my newest songs"
"Yea, I feel like it's an underrated gem"
He smiled at you.
"So what has Urban been telling you about me?"
"You know what, I think I forgot most of it, maybe you should help me out with it"
"How so?"
"Let me take you out to dinner"
You were a bit taken back by this smooth demeanor.
"Like now?"
"Yea, the night is young isn't it?" he said offering his hand.
Without hesitation you took his hand as you walked out into the night.
