38?
38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
Hmm, that's a tough one! I don't necessarily think anything about my process is weird, but I get the sense other people might be confused by some of my methods. Like, writing out of order isn't weird, it's a great strategy if you want to get to the part you're really passionate about while it's fresh and then work backwards. Sure it involves a lot of editing, but it's worth it to capture the passion. But I've met a lot of people who don't approach stories that way and find it odd.
One thing I'm in the habit of doing is writing dialogue as pure dialogue first and then going back and adding in body language where it's needed. I'm someone who talks to myself a great deal, the mirror knows me rather intimately in the way of monologues. And as a voice actor, I've found it useful to say your dialogue out loud to see how natural it sounds. If you've ever heard me speak out loud, you'll know I type rather similarly to how I talk, but I also like imagining many different ways of speaking. Sometimes I worry it all sounds too much like me, but then again, there's always a part of you in your art, so I suppose that's not a bad thing. I remember some of my language choices threw people off in college, people were confused by why some of my merfolk characters constantly called each other 'cousin', and I'm just like, that's part of the world building, it's the culture!" In eighth grade I had to write a children's book, and everyone told me to remove the word "trekked" from my draft, said kids wouldn't know what that meant. And I'm still salty about it, I'm convinced most of them didn't know what it meant even though there were context clues. My use of language is very specific to set the vibe and I will not apologize for it!
And to illustrate it, I'm gonna give a little sneak peak of something I'm working on that's BATDR related (no idea when I'll be ready to share it). I'm playing with the concept of a Keeper doing a series of side experiments on my OC, Bella, and oh boy their dynamic is great. I love writing his dialogue, it's a great challenge. Thank you for the ask! I'm still accepting submissions for the writer's ask game over on @inkabelledesigns.
“It is standard procedure. You must remain in the testing facilities.” He stated simply.
She sighed and turned away. “I’m not gonna run away from you, that wouldn’t do either of us any good.”
The keeper quirked his head a little, looking her over curiously. “A rather logical conclusion you’ve come to.”
“Humans can be rational, you know.” She smirked, the glint of her teeth was somewhat fierce as his light shined over them.
“You are not human.” He replied as he got to work, organizing the tools that sat on his tray.
“I suppose not, not anymore at least.” She sighed. “The outside is ink, but that doesn’t change my soul.”
“I fail to see how such a thing matters.”
“Of course you would.” She huffed. “You’ve never dabbled with souls, have you?”
“I can’t say I have.” The keeper replied curtly.

20 questions for fic writers!
Thanks to @mycupofrum for tagging me!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
915, but only 426 of those are for HP >.<
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
2,340,018
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Harry Potter is the big one! Marvel is second (but idk how much longer that'll be true for since I don't like any of the recent stuff), and there's a bunch of little ones that I have WIP's for but don't finish much of
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
My top 5 aren't HP, so here are the top 5 that are for Harry Potter :D
It's Always Been You- James/Sirius, 2k Teen
Mister Potter, I Presume?- James/Sirius, 900 Gen (this is the first fic I wrote for the imagines blog!)
Moving Seats- James/Sirius, 2.4k Teen
In Hospital- James Potter/Harry Potter, 3k Explicit (this used to be my highest kudos fic for years lol)
Five People, Two Relationships- James/Sirius, 3.6k Teen
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! ...most of the time. Every so often, I'll leave a note on a fic specifying that I'm not going to write anything else for it but someone will leave a comment asking for more-- I don't always feel like responding to those :/
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
They're both James/Sirius: either I Know You which is canon-compliant, or Should Have Been Me where Sirius was the secret-keeper, got killed, and James is the one to find his body :(
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh geez I write so much fluff I'm not sure I can narrow that down. Throw a dart and you can hit a fic with a happy ending
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I do sometimes, but I delete those comments when I get them, so I tend to forget about them until it's brought up in conversation lol
9. Do you write smut?
Yes
10. Do you write crossovers?
Yes-- though I didn't used to
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, and I hope it stays that way
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, and it makes me grin every time
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, and I'm not sure it's for me-- so stressful to try and keep up so the other author isn't waiting on me
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
James/Sirius!!! I love them! They made me into a fanfic writer!
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
Can't Help Falling In Love-- it's an unpublished, modern soulmate AU for James and Sirius. It's not an instant happy relationship once they figure out they're soulmates, which is why it's so hard for me
16. What are your writing strengths?
Fluff!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Angst T.T i do my best but it's haaaard
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I only know one language, so it's a stylistic choice that I am not a fan of :/
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter! Like I said earlier, wanting more James/Sirius made me a fanfic writer :D
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Oh geez. Probably The Old Best Mate because who doesn't love a fic where someone comes back to life?
This was so much fun! All the names that immediately come to mind for who to tag have already been tagged, so this is just an open tag for anyone who wants to do it. Have fun! :D

The Barbecue
Request: I'd like to request a Bucky and reader just doing some groceries for the bbq party. Thank you~
Plot: You and Bucky go grocery shopping for the Fourth of July barbecue party.
A/N: I’m actually pretty excited to post a BBQ party post on the Fourth of July.
Warnings: None!
Word Count Total: 549
Short Imagine #222
Title: The Barbecue
“Did you remember the list?” you asked, searching your pockets for the little slip of paper.
“Yeah, it’s up here.” He tapped his temple. You snorted.
“Thank you, but I need something to look at, my memory is not as perfect as yours.”
“Did you just say I’m perfect?”
“No, we were talking about your memory.”
“I heard you say I’m perfect.”
You laughed.
He reached into his pocket and fiddled a bit before pulling out the aforementioned grocery list. “Is this better?”
“Yes, thank you.” You grabbed for it, but he raised it over his head. “Bucky.”
“Tell me I’m perfect.”
“What? No.” You reached for the list.
“No list for you.” He winked.
“No cupcakes for you.” You winked back.
He pouted.
“Aw, fine. You are perfect.”
He leaned over for a kiss and you gave him one. “And so are you.”
You looked him over, man bun and all, and fell in love with him just a little bit more as he grabbed a shopping cart.
“Where to first, list-keeper?” he asked.
“Let’s pick up the meats, first, and while we’re back there, the ice cream.”
“Do we get to choose?”
“Tony asked for Rocky Road and s’mores, but other than that, it’s up to us.”
“And produce last?”
“Well, I was thinking we could also pick up some stuff for Steve’s birthday.”
Bucky lit up, and then dragged you to the back of the store first. He tossed in ribs, burgers, hot dogs, and steak.
“Babe, we don’t need that much meat.”
“We have how many people to feed and Steve and I consume how much?”
You sighed, defeated. “Alright, you win.”
He smiled, victorious.
You both grabbed the rest of the food and went just about in circles looking for stuff for Steve. Finally, you approached a young gal who was puling cans off the shelf, checking dates, and then putting them in one of two piles on the cart next to her.
You cleared your throat. “Could you direct us to the birthday supplies? We’re new.”
She smiled. “Sure! Just down the aisle with cards and magazines! Wow, you sure go all out for America’s birthday!”
You and Bucky looked at each other and snickered. “Well, sort of.” You recovered first. “Thank you.”
The young lady went back to filing cans of beans onto the shelf, leaving you to find the magazine aisle.
You nearly ran up to the birthday horns in excitement. “Perfect. Horns and rattles are as far from bangs as we can get.”
Bucky picked up another bag of multicolored items. “What about kazoos?”
You nodded and scooped up a few things, dumping them into your basket before you grabbed three numbered candles. Bucky laughed.
“For the cake?”
“Of course. Anything else we need?”
He thought, then shook his head. “Nah. We’re good.”
“Then let’s go. We have a surprise party to get to.”
“I am so glad we’re not doing fireworks.” He looked anxious at the mere thought. You rubbed his arm and walked in sync with him.
“Me, too. But Tony did get sparklers of all sorts of colors.”
“Good ol’ Tony Stark.”
“Glad to see you two get along, now.”
He laughed. “Sometimes.”
You rolled your eyes playfully. “Alright, well while we are still all getting along….”

Grazed
Plot: You and Peter are on a mission together and he pushes you out of the way of a bullet.
Blog Tag: @heyjess-marie
A/N: Part Two of Mom’s a Superhero. I had so much trouble writing this because of my writer’s block, I hope it doesn’t suck.
Warnings: Brief use of foul language
Word Count Total: 1225
Short Imagine #213
Title: Grazed
You chuckled, ducking around your mom’s staff swing. “I keep expecting to hear you say, ‘Constant vigilance!’”
“I may if you don’t start to pay better attention soon.” She took another swing at you and you just barely deflected with your staff. You tumbled out of the way, aiming your staff at her in defense, and your mother grinned, taking a relaxed stance. “Alright, I think today’s lesson has been successful.”
You stood up and nodded to her. She walked past you and swiftly swung her staff at your ankle. You deflected in the nick of time and your mother chuckled. “Very good. Okay, now we’re done.”
“Promise?” You grinned.
“I promise. Go take a break.”
You dropped your staff and hugged your mom, just in case she got any ideas to surprise you on your way out.
Natasha had finally come around to training you in the fighting style of a widow a few months ago. You had begun sneaking away to learn how to fight and when she found you, you were about two seconds away from twisting something. So, she had decided to train you in fighting properly.
It was useful, especially when they had need for someone to run backup on missions. Natasha had not been very thrilled about the prospect of her daughter on missions at first, but you proved you could sneak in anyway and had no choice but to say yes. With you and Peter Parker, stealth missions were much more successful. It was rare that anyone tripped the alarm on either side anymore.
Later that day, the mission alert came over FRIDAY’s speakers and you suited up.
Natasha poked her head into your room. “Ready to head out?”
You nodded, tightening your wrist braces built into your suit before following her out.
Right before you made it to the jet, Peter just about ran into you, adjusting his suit over his shoulder.
“How did you get here so fast?” you asked, brow furrowed.
“I was already here.”
“And I didn’t know this?”
“I got here ten minutes ago to discuss some upgrades to the webslingers with Mr. Stark.”
“Have you asked Bruce yet?” You stepped up into the jet with Peter right behind you.
“Dr. Banner? He’s back from his trip?”
You nodded. “Yeah. It’s the first time in a long time he’s had a stress-free conference to go to and he got back two days ago really relaxed. I had to do a double take because I almost didn’t recognize him.” A laugh left your mouth.
Peter grinned and buckled himself in. “I’ll make sure to meet him. Do you think you could introduce me?”
“Any friend of mine is a friend of Uncle Bruce’s, he likes to say.” Your buckle clicked, too.
He looked alarmed and you laughed again. “Don’t be frightened. It’s been a while since I had anyone I trusted to be friends with and he already likes you.”
“He does?”
“Yeah. Not only have I told him about you, but so has Uncle Tony.”
“Unc – Mr. Stark has told Dr. Banner about me?” he squeaked. You grinned.
“He sure has. All bad things, right Uncle Tony?” you called out to Tony.
“Terrible, terrible things. Only the worst.” He winked back at you. Peter chuckled nervously, looking back and forth between the two of you.
“Oh, don’t worry so much.” You hit his chest with the back of your hand. “He likes you. They both do.”
He smiled nervously.

The mission went sideways. No one knew how it happened, but shit hit the fan and you and Peter were dodging bullets, running away from the cement building. Natasha and Steve were sharpshooting nearby from some underbrush, taking out those running out, guns blazing, and any hidden guns in the outer walls. The hard rain falling made it hard for the bad guys to see you, but also made it hard for you to see where you were going or where the bullets were aimed.
“Y/N, move!” Peter slammed into your side, a bullet grazing his upper arm. You both, dazed, sat up slowly as the others converged on the shooters, taking them down quickly.
“Y/N, are you okay?” he asked quietly. You nodded.
“Are you?”
He nodded.
“Did you get hit?”
“Uh, I don’t think so.”
“Lemme see.” You walked on your hands and knees behind his back and looked him over. On his right arm, you saw a small trickle of blood. “Peter, you’re bleeding.”
“I am?” He turned to look. “Oh. I am. Well, it doesn’t look too bad.”
You looked up at him in bewilderment. “What? A bullet just grazed you.”
“I’ve had worse,” he said. “Tis but a flesh wound.”
You stifled a grin, trying not to encourage him. “You need medical attention nonetheless.”
He smiled. “When we’re safe.”
“Uh, lovebirds?” Cap said over the coms. “We’re good to go.”
You chuckled and stood up, pulling Peter up by his non-injured arm.
“Wait,” Peter said.
“What?”
“It’s raining. I-I’d like to kiss you on the cheek.”
You grinned and nodded. He pressed a quick kiss to your cheek. Before you had a chance to return the gesture, your mother made an all-call for you both to get to the jet and head out before enemy backup arrived. You grabbed his hand and both made a run for it.
The door closed up behind you two and you made him sit so you could take care of his scratch. Your mother handed you the first aid kit.
He pulled the suit over his shoulder and gingerly pulled out his arm. You dabbed at his wound with a cotton swab dipped in antiseptic. He hissed, but didn’t move away.
“Sorry.”
He smiled up at you, causing you to smile back. As you bandaged his arm, you saw goosebumps rise on his skin and he blushed when your fingers brushed his shoulder. You winked and his blush got deeper. When you declared your work done, he thanked you and you took the kit back to the other side of the jet. You snapped the kit back into its place on the wall.
“He got shot for you, huh?” Natasha smirked coming up from behind you.
“Grazed. It’s different.”
“Mm, not really. He could have gotten hit.”
You rolled your eyes, trying to keep a smile hidden. “Okay, maybe.”
She patted your shoulder. “He’s a keeper.”
“You’re okay with it?”
Your mother nodded. “I am. I know him well enough that I don’t have to worry that he will break your heart. If he does, which I doubt, you’ll break him.”
You laughed. “Mom.”
She shrugged. “What? It’s true. You could do it.”
“I don’t think I will need to.”
“No, I don’t think you will, either.”
You thanked her and walked back over to Peter to sit down.
“What did your mother say?” he asked.
“She said she approves of you.”
He turned to look directly at you with wide eyes. “Did she really?”
You couldn’t hide the smile on your face. “Yeah. I think you got brownie points with everyone, in fact.” You kissed his cheek, resulting in a few resounding ‘aw’s from the Avengers crew.
“I’d better not find any tom-foolery happening at the compound between the two of you,” Natasha said sternly. You and Peter snickered.
