It's also, in my opinion, better than the Edge Lane one. And yeah you're not dealing with the mess that is getting a bus to the Edge Lane shopping park thing.
I was going to go to B&Q today but it's been snowing and it's cold and it always plays merry hell with the buses so we'll see
#spent like two months trying to get slate chips from edge lane b&q#their stock management thing is shite#if it says in stock it's probably still on the delivery bay#went to aintree and just picked up all the bags we needed#plus it's just like a larger shop#and yeah there's a Hobbycraft

Blacksmithing
I am 100% into the idea of learning how to blacksmith, like making knives, swords, maybe an axe. Medieval style blacksmithing is the shit. Oh, and you'll also probably get some form of jacked up with all the physical activity you do. Like, imagine you're bringing your partner home one day, they see a sword or a battle axe or something and they say and ask "Oh, thats neat! Where did you get the sword?" you can confidently say you made it yourself and now they're interested. Congrats.

18+ fem!reader — TANGERINE who likes to assert his dominance over you during sex
inspired by my trip to hobbycraft where I saw black ribbon😏
a black ribbon laid loosely around your wrists, a dainty bow securing you to his headboard. it was almost pointless really, the thin fabric doing a poor job of what it was intended to do. though there was something about it that made it that much hotter - both of you knowing that only a faint thrash could set you free.
it was your restraint and willpower that made it hot. how you'd keep your bent arms in that same spot above your head where he secured you - resisting every instinct to move. the way he toys with you, testing every ounce of self-control.
he's hovering atop of you, his cock thick as it rests inside your pussy - his hips still, the motion non-existent. his eyes are half-lidded as he peers down at you, gaze solely focused on you within the several-inch distance.
"this what you like?" he asks, voice teasing as if he already knew the answer. and he did know the answer. he just wanted to hear from your lips - he wanted you to tell him that you liked it.
he drags a little bit of himself from your cunt only to push back in again - the feeling making your brain scramble for words.
you hum, nodding - eagerly reaching up to kiss him, though he's quick to pull away. practically taunting you.
he responds with a tsk, a soft shake of his head reinforcing his subtle displeased sound.
you reply with a wavering, "yes," the sound almost strained.
his lips turn up into a faint half-smile, and the rest of his features relax. "yeah?" he hums, placing his thumb over your bottom lip - slowly outlining it, his eyes following the motion. his hips beginning to leisurely wind back into you. "I know you do."
gif creds to @/peachyspaceslvt for the never ending supply of crazy hot tan gifs. ur our saviour🫡

OKAY SO I've gotten two asks about my Noisette cosplay AND THANK YOU SM FOR THE KIND WORDS !!!!!!!! It was sm fun to make this cos, so I will gladly explain everything I did in hopes that it might help someone else!! also both anons please share your cosplays with me when theyre done i would love to see them....
I've tried to link everything where I can, where I got stuff etc... I only rarely cosplay (although I am thinking of going as the noise in May Comiccon) and this was my biggest ever project so!! It's very trial-and-error! But without further ado
KATES EXTENSIVE(ish) GUIDE TO COSPLAYING NOISETTE FROM THE HIT GAME PIZZA TOWER!!!!!!! (warning its kinda long)
THE HAT
Okay i’m gonna be real my mum helped me so much she basically did all the sewing for me. Sewing is the fucking bane of my existence I hate doing it so much so we planned it out together and she basically executed it. Props to her for that she’s so real… She also wrote down what she did!! So i’ll just paste and colour that in for you to read!!
“The black material (seen in the above image) was originally a beanie hat that was picked apart to use as a template…
This was game changing basically. We had experimented with making the hat from scratch but it was far too difficult and we were both too stupid so we just unstitched a pre-existing hat and stole the template. The hat we cut up was one we had lying around for years so i cannot tell you where to get one from, but any beanie that is stitched together will work i guess! So I would recommend finding a hat that fits you snugly and doing the same thing!
…and the wool fabric that was utilised gave the finished product was stiff enough to be structurally sound.
I just got this from my local fabric shop, I would recommend wool over something like felt because it’s super sturdy and I was pulling on my mask a LOT.
Once sewn together, I attached a stiff card facemask to the front to help provide some structure, and to locate where the eye holes should be cut.
I think this picture shows it pretty well, my mum was able to curve the shape of the fabric to fit a pre-existing mask- we got ours from Hobbycraft, just one of those stringed white template masks yknow. We cut off the string, made the eyeholes a little bigger and just stuck it straight on!! I should mention this was pretty much all done with a sewing machine as well!
After that, we made two ears from a paper pattern, stuffed them and put some wire inside to allow them to be positioned, before sewing them onto this headband, which was then sewn into the hat. The bottom of each ear was also stitched to the crown to give it some additional stability and to secure the headband correctly in position (having fitted it on the wearer).
Yeah it was actually less of a mask and more of a headband!! That was what gave it most of the support and meant the ears would stay up, I’m not sure how it would work without it!! The ears were the only part that I could actually help with LMAO i just freehanded a little template, stuffed it, and then put in some modelling wire to make them able to be posed :)
Then it was a lot of hand sewing, and glueing the eyeholes to the mask to create a cohesive look.
AND YEAH that’s pretty much all it was! I also attached some little felt eyelashes to add to it as well. Honestly I could never come up with a step-by-step guide for the process because it was such a trial and error thing (i’d made two test-hats before we even came up with the method) but it was so fun!!
I would 100% recommend if you want the ears to stay UP to stuff them AS MUCH AS U CAN and/or put wire in them!! :) I also made some cute little bows to clip into my wig in the same fabric to make it more cohesive!! I also put a bow (and a bunny tail heheh) on the back of the dress too!!
THE DRESS
Super simple! I just found one online (okay for some reason the link has been taken off of the website, but just look up "overall dress" on google shopping and you will 100% find something super cute)- I made sure to buy the dress first, and then take it to the fabric shop to try and colourmatch the mask fabric as best as I could. Then it was just buying some big ol buttons off eBay and sewing them on!! (I could actually do that bit by myself, I'm bad at sewing but im not THAT bad)
EVERYTHING ELSE
Cute patterned knee-high socks cuz shes cute like that. Leg warmers, I think I got them both off of Amazon... Converse I got from Depop and I had wanted to buy a pair anyway so I was super stoked to get them cheap!! I chose converse over a pair of high-heels or Mary Janes just for comfort reasons, I was walking around loads at the con so... Everything else apart from the shirt was from Amazon or just. Somewhere online(I have no idea where to get fancy white gloves LOL) and the shirt was from Depop as well! I liked how frilly it was, re: Noisette is cute like that!!
oh yeah and the wig. I hate wigs it was awful. I have no idea how to style them. underneath the hat was the most awful bowl cut ever I just. It wasn't my best moment. Dont ask me about wigs please .
Also I should mention I got this bag for the cosplay (which I now use all the time cuz its so cute) because i needed space to store shit and I wanted something on-brand with her cafe... this isnt the exact link I used but I just got it off of ebay :P
PROPS
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of WIP pictures of my props but they were pretty simple to make!! The coffee cup was literally just spraypainting over a reusable coffee cup and using POSCA pen to draw on the front! Fun fact the cup says "To Peppino" because originally my boyfriend was gonna go with me as Peppino before the Cruetly Squad brainrot got to him so. YEA
And the tip jar was also pretty simple, I just painted on the lid a plastic jar (can't be glass, not allowed at ComicCon) and cut out a bit of vinyl to work as the sign. The cobweb was just hot-glued 3D printer filament, and the spider was made with foam modelling clay (literally the best thing ever if you're making small models like that) and i stuck him to the lid of the jar with Kandi string so he'd bounce around :]
AND I THINK THATS IT!! i may as well post a pic of the full cosplay since I dont think many people would have made it this far.... But I think it turned out pretty cool!! I got recognised a few times as well which was amazing!! (cropped out my bf cuz idk if he wants his face on tumblr gfhhfg)
SO YEAH!!!! if anyone has any questions please let me know.. but GOOD LUCK IN UR COSPLAY MAKING FRIENDS!!!! :D
#ask#pizza tower#noisette pizza tower#noisette cosplay#pizza tower cosplay#Yes this is very longwinded! But I really wanted to include all the details!!!#also second anon im so sorry it took me so long to reply i completely blanked on its existence#I HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL TO SOMEONE... ANYONE#re:noise cosplay in may? i'd love to try out making a mask (like out of paper-mache of his whole face) rather than a fabric one#might be fun? not sure#also face reveal ig i hate How i look in the cos cuz i rely so much on my hair to look half decent but.#IN THE NAME OF HELPING SOMEONE... ough#anyway ill stop rambling#thank u for the asks!!!!!

⭐️ mini ask post (sorry some of these are late)!
i'm glad you found it helpful! i work full time as a studio designer now but as a freelancer it would depend on the project... a lot of times clients would have a budget, so they'd set a flat rate and i'd negotiate from there (with varying results). disclaimer that these are junior rates and i live in the uk where the pay is notoriously bad, even in london:
for context, i mostly did hand-drawn animation for social media/marketing/tv ads - i had jobs ranging from £2k for ~12 secs of animation (though this was inclusive of storyboarding and character designs) to £600 for a whole-ass 90 sec film (also including storyboards/designs/edits). i wouldn't use the latter as a reference point because i was definitely being lowballed and if it were up to me i'd charge way higher LOL but as a graduate i ended up taking on those briefs for my portfolio and they did lead to me getting more work, for what it's worth. for comparison, i've talked to more established freelancers who'd ballpark £8-12k for a 2 min animation over a ~2 month production schedule.
my illustration work (mostly editorial gigs) would vary depending on the drawing's complexity/usage/client budget... but it was typically about £100-150 per illustration (also not great, but people kept telling me this was normal for a graduate so i just accepted it, despite being, like, fully rendered illustrations with bgs). again, i would price things differently if it were completely up to me, especially since i'm more confident with my style now, but i would honestly ask more experienced illustrators for better reference. i wanted to offer up my experience anyway bc i think it's beneficial to have transparent conversations about pay in this industry.
oh, and i do basically all of my illo/animation work in photoshop on my 8 year-old laptop (+ premiere pro for compositing), with a wacom intuos tablet... i don't necessarily recommend this equipment because 1) adobe is dudu, and 2) i recently started drawing on an ipad with procreate and it feels so much better than drawing on desktop, and i will probably upgrade my setup when i can comfortably afford to lol
in reference to these figurines - i used white air dry clay from hobbycraft! painted over with acrylics (and clay varnish, though that didn't seem to do much)
yeah... i salute akechi fans who are like, "i like akechi but i don't condone his actions" etc. because he could kill another 5 people and i'd be like, "that's literally iconic"
thank youuuuu! 💛 i'm glad people like my p5 art... even though a lot of it is old and ooc... i'll always keep it up because i like that others still enjoy it... goro akechi foreverrrrr
#re: the first ask#i'm hesitant to open commissions on here even though i want to#bc i keep seeing (skilled!) artists charge like $40 for their drawings and it's so crazy to me.#and here i am complaining about being lowballed for higher lol#ask#anonymous

sometimes i really wonder what the hobbycraft people think im up to when i come up to the counter with a highly eclectic mix of craft supplies
like, when i’m buying armfuls of yarn in the same one or two colours then yeah, i’m starting a new project
but when i go up with a mix of beads, felt, edible glitter, feathers, grass-texture terrain fibres and a needle-felting kit, i feel like there should be at least 1 question involved

Jfc I’ve forgotten to update this at all !!!
Uh yeah so some of the embroidery stitching on the front of the coat took much longer than expected so now I’m only just attaching the hood
Quick PSA if you are in the UK and a cosplayer who might buy supplies from Hobbycraft, whatever you do DO NOT get this fabric for your own sanity. It does look very cool and I’m stuck using it now but it is nearly impossible to pin??? and yeah chalk doesn’t show up on it
Wig styling really needs to happen mutuals please spam remind me to do it
also need to practise makeup because the con is in TWO WEEKS and I am Behind.
Yikes hope I can sew at the speed of light.
JESTER COSPLAY MASTERPOST!
bidet! So. I’m going to see Critical Role at MCM Comic Con in November and what would it be without a fun cosplay project?! Well, I’m your local little blue tiefling enthusiast - let’s go!
I am making Jester’s LV10 outfit, from a pattern made by CosplayWithMaridah on Etsy. So far it has been one of the easiest patterns to follow I’ve ever used - it’s so straightforward but just a warning it will definitely take a while to print!
When I get to it I will be using Ginny Di’s makeup tutorial.
I’ve been working on a lollipop prop as well but so far it’s been a bit of a disaster - will update when I can.
So! Just to clarify I am not an expert at sewing or cosplay in general so this is gonna be a learning experience for better or worse.
So long for now!
#jester cosplay#critical role#cosplay#jester#jester lavorre#cosplay wip#wip#mutuals I am SERIOUS bully me into getting this done

I think it’s sooo funny when people ask about your « five consecutive vowels » tag because like. One of the main features of tumblr is its queue system. And that word already has FOUR vowels in a row…. I never read your faq and even I could figure out what that tag probably meant LOL ?!
it is kinda funny but also afaik most people are not looking for the secret patterns in words! and like you said. “queue” only has Four consecutive vowels. the connection “queue” -> Four Consecutive Vowels -> “queue......ing?” -> Five Consecutive Vowels is not the most obvious even in that order so i’m not expecting anyone to figure it out Backwards!! it’s just a bit funny to me bcs. faq. it exists. this is The most Frequent question i get and it’s right there. read the standing orders! read them and understand them!
#but also congrats on figuring it out. next step go insane over words w many consecutive consonants#hobbycraft is sexy bcs yeah craft supplies............ but look at that consonant cluster! nice!#(y counts as a consonant for these purposes yes i know it is a semivowel no i will not be discussing it)#(you can only say y doesn’t count if you Also say w isn’t a consonant. That I Can Respect)#beeps

In this picture my bedroom looks unbearably dark but the scale of my yarn stash looks completely reasonable, which is reassuring. In fairness, this picture doesn’t show most of my WIPs, just a slate grey ripple bralette (top, middle, barely visible) and the sleeve of a wave-stitch V-neck that I’m making from an 80s Vogue Knitting book.
I ordered some sock yarn from Indie Yarn Club and because my order was delayed, I was sent a free sample of merino DK - the little twisted hank with blue and green specks. I thought that was a really kind gesture and I’m going to use it in a pattern from Hilary Grant’s Knitting From The North* - the “Icelandic Jumper” which is a terrible name because guess what? It’s very difficult to search for other knitters’ projects. The main yarn I’m going to use for that jumper is a navy Bergére wool/synthetic mix which I have knitted two different projects with and frogged both times.
The two beige-gold balls are the Indie Yarn Club sock yarn. There’s also some Wool And The Gang Shiny Happy Cotton and some of that organic cotton that was incredibly affordable at Hobbycraft last summer and sold out rapidly so that I had to buy it in lilac. I really like the ripple bralette pattern (I have knitted it before and messed it up but I think I just have a confusing bust size) so I might purchase a pattern for a looser fitting cropped vest from the same designer.
What else? I find the rosa pomar yarns incredibly nice and the labels super cute. There’s also lots of wool that I’ve just been lugging around for ages and have no memory anymore of where it came from (other than in the broadest possible sense: Birmingham and Bristol). After getting super into sock knitting in winter lockdown I’m excited to use up my smallest scraps on socks and mittens with interesting fair isle.
Oh yeah: the tiniest scraps that I could still use in a project are in the jar, half cropped out of the frame, that originally held chipotle salsa.
* Not a mind-blowing book (and the amazon reviews suggest its riddled with crucial typos) but I picked it up for about £5 at a budget book shop (think The Works but not The Works) and I'm probably going to experiment with scrap yarn anyway so I won’t suffer too badly from those errors.

Well, I finally got around to collecting my stuff from Uni this week, which means I can get on and finish a few of my WIPs. The first of which has already been completed!
I bought this hedgehog latch hook kit from Hobbycraft last year. The last time I did latch hooking was in Year 6, so I was really excited to complete another project. Latch hooking does take forever, but it’s very therapeutic and produces some stunning results! I’m really pleased with this, but I don’t think I’ll be doing another one any time soon...
In other crafty news, my Sophie’s Universe blanket is progressing nicely! I got to the end of Part 3 this week, and I’m really pleased with how it looks so far. It’s introduced me to some new stitches too; crab stitch took a little bit of time to get the hang of but it turned out alright in the end!
Games wise I haven’t really been up to much. I haven’t been on Animal Crossing in a couple of days so I really ought to go and see my islanders, and I currently can’t play on Ring Fit as my hoop happens to be at the back of the conservatory, which is currently FULL of my stuff from Uni. Yeah, I have a lot of stuff... I’m excited by the new Story of Seasons game and Paper Mario, but I don’t think I’ll be getting hold of them for quite a while.
In the spare time between gaming and crafting, I’ve been having a lot of fun learning HTML and CSS coding. It feels good to be doing something constructive during all this time away from Uni, although I really ought to think about doing some Maths...

my opinion is requested and thus i will answer
cotton is pretty good. reliable. good for making appliqués and patches and such. nice in wool blends
merino goes crazie it's soft and bouncy and luxurious and you can get it for waaaay less than you'd expect if you know where to look. if you do fibre arts get a merino blend it is a joy to work with
alpaca. ok. listen to me. if you are in the uk and you do fibre arts or want to you qre going to go to the wool warehouse site. and you will click on the drops alpaca party sale. and you will order yourself a skein or a few of alpaca yarn. whatever suits what you want to use it for. i got 8 skeins of drops 100% alpaca and it is so, so soft do you understand. and it's ~£2 on sale. hobbycraft will try to sell you synthetic nasty shit for more than that price do not take their offer. get some alpaca. it's very nice.
oh yeah and most synthetic yarns* kinda just suck for most purposes ive found. hard to work with, scratchy, just generally not worth it. if you're looking to start crocheting or knitting go with cotton. or alpaca. it's on sale. i put another 8 skeins on my christmas wishlist i cannot stress enough it is so good
*if it's something like chenile then that's probably gonna be better than your standard polyester dk because that one's fluffy and it's hard to get fluffy yarn that isn't synthetic. but if it's plied get anything else i am so serious
i need someone to poke me into crochetposting more. it's like most of what i do at this point. i have two separate cardigans in the works at the moment. i made a snowflake decoration the other day. i just put together two seperate yarn wishlists for a lace shirt. i have opinions on types of yarn now. ask me my opinions on types of yarn
