to be honest petrigrof wasn't the only relationship they fumbled after the main series was over. obsidian was cute but it did feel way more like fanservice than a true continuation of the relationship between marcy and pb, imo. even the way they portrayed their break-up felt a bit strange to me, since episodes like 'varmints' made it seem that they drifted apart gradually because of pb's responsibilities and marceline's refusal to grow up and never really got to talk about their frustrations with each other, not that they had a huge, bombastic (and honestly humiliating, for pb) fight about it in public
