I can’t imagine what it’s like to grow up in such a quiet and cold place and to have it grow even quieter and colder when the one person you thought cared about you left because now he has other things that are more important than you (/□＼*)・゜

Edgar + Kyle: can love between people of different social statuses exist?

The rest of these aren’t released at the moment I wrote this, so I’m mainly just going to be addressing my predictions!

So it’s clear that Jonah and MC are considered to be from different social ranks, even though MC is “Alice the Second” and has the power to nullify magic. She’s probably considered as a “commoner” in the Red Territory, so I can see why it would be difficult for Jonah and MC to get married.

And you know what else this reminds me of??? If we look at Seth’s route, we finally find out that the whole reason Cradle got divided into two was because a Red noble fell in love with a girl from a different social rank. And that romance tore a country apart, so.

Dean + Dalim: about family

Aight here we go. Are Dean and Dalim really family??? Do we finally get to find out??? Or at least get some sort of clue??? Bc I’m torn between the theory that they’re twins with amnesia or if Dean was some sort of clone created by the Magic Tower when they experimented on Dalim. And I have no idea when their routes are gonna be released, so I really hope we get more hints throughout each Ever After route.

Lancelot: Jonah’s tears

THIS IS THE SECOND MINI TALK THAT WILL DESTROY ME AFTER THE LUKA + SIRIUS ONE.

Also this is a reminder that Lancelot was probably the only one who has seen Jonah at his weakest before MC came along. It’s probably to be expected, since they’ve known each other for literally more than half their lives and also since Lancelot saved Jonah.

And technically Luka has known Jonah for the longest time, but I doubt that Jonah will ever show weakness in front of Luka because he considers himself as Luka’s protector, but it’s different in front of Lance. I feel like he can show his weaker side to Lance, and it just emphasizes how deep the relationship between them is.

SO GET READY FOR THE JONALOT FEELS WHEN THIS ONE COMES OUT.

Jonah: what is your ideal proposal?

I just...literally cannot express my love for this summary.

First of all I’m just gonna talk about the tone. Right off the bat MC calls him “my dear Queen” and it was just. So. CUUUUUUUUUUTE.

Also, the question and theme of “a happy ending” is brought up, and the rest of the sneak peek answers that question (it’s when the people you love become your family and the people you meet becomes your allies), but also explores how they could find those answers (Jonah crying when he couldn’t find an answer and advancing forward bravely because they just want their happy ending). And finally we finish it off with a super Jonah-like statement, announcing that he’ll accept no less than the most perfect ending of them all!

Moving on to the information revealed...it’s pretty cool how there’s a special party for the next head of the Clemence family when they’re ready to announce their marriage and gain approval. Also, it’s kinda wild to think that Jonah will eventually become a head of the family just like his father and his grandfather before that.

AND THE PART WITH LUKA AND LEVIE ARE LITERALLY SO ADORABLE. LIKE, LUKA INSULTING JONAH BUT ALSO LEAVING HIM TO MC AND LEVIE DEFENDING MC FROM PPL WHO WOULD HARM HER IS 10/10 PERFECT

Also it seems that Dean and Dalim’s backstories might be explored more but won’t be resolved just yet. I guess we really do have to wait until their routes get released to find out.

In short, this was an amazing summary of the route. WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER MONTH UNTIL I CAN FINALLY READ THE WHOLE THING???????????????????????????

Also FYI, this is all completely new to me. For the other characters’ sequels, I played it through on Ikerev JP bc I can’t wait until the releases in the TW and English version that’s like, a year later. But I didn’t read Jonah’s sequel bc my Japanese isn’t super good and I wanted to read my man’s story in a language that I can completely understand so I literally have no idea of what to expect apart from what I found out in the campaign release :3

Hey there! My group of friends have been hardcore considering turning a passion project of ours into a real podcast, and I was wondering if you had any advice for newbies putting together a show. We’re a small, young team, but we have a lot of passion for our concept and some writing/sound experience under our belts. Do you have any tips regarding finding actors, the process of plotting, sensitivity readers, or anything else you’ve had experience with in your projects? Thanks for reading!

Ok, finally ready with this! Thank you so much for the question, I will try to share my ~wisdom~ in the following post, but feel free to ask any further questions!

How to start a podcast: 1. when you’re new and/or 2. when you have money!

1. It’s easier than you think! My first advice is to just go for it! Even if it doesn’t quite go as planned you’ll have fun, and it’ll give you great experience for whatever you want to work on next!

Casting:

I’m going to assume this is an unpaid project (hence the former part of this advice being for free podcasting!) but if that’s not the case please skip to section two!

When I can’t offer any form of payment for a project I like to use friends as a cast. Not because my friends deserve any less payment! But because I can pay them in free chips and credentials for their portfolios, and it makes me feel slightly less bad!

Ways to go about deciding which friends to cast: I was lucky enough to do a lot of theatre work in my first year of uni, so I already knew a lot of people who were interested in both acting and production work. You’ll probably come across several actors who think voice acting is beneath them, but who wants to be friends with those people? What I’m trying to say is: if you have friends who are interested in theatre they’ll probably be interested in this! Especially given the past year.

I also poached people from my DnD group, because I could already gauge their acting specialities from that, and I knew what kinds of things they were interested in based on which DnD campaigns they enjoyed best.

If you know anyone who is interested in public speaking, whatever you all those reading awards where you read aloud dramatically, or something like radio and TV presenting then they’ll probably also be interested and do a great job! The great thing about podcasts is that all you really need is someone with a good voice - they’re free to do whatever they like with the rest of their face as long as they’re reading the lines!

You can, of course, also put out a casting call. It’s very important that you make it clear that it would be unpaid work. Even if you plan to set up a kofi, patreon, or kickstarter (info in the money section!), if you don’t have the money to begin with you shouldn’t promise it to people.

There are up and downsides to both. Casting people you know means you’re more likely to be comfortable working with them, there’s less pressure to offer payment, and your cast are more likely to have free time specifically for this project. However, you won’t have the draw of casting known industry voices, and (like I found!) your cast may not have any social media engagement whatsoever!

If you put out a casting call you’re more likely to get a pool of diverse voices, it will likely be people invested (even if not plugged in) to the industry, and you can request that they have their own equipment! However, you then have to work with people you don’t know, a level of professionalism that isn’t usually present on first time projects may be expected, and unpaid casting calls are not wildly well received.

Personally, for your first show, I’d try to use as many friends, or even friends-of-friends as possible. That being said, if you want advice on putting together an audition pack let me know!

Plotting:

It depends on what kind of show you’re aiming to write, but in general plotting a podcast is kind of like plotting a TV show. First of all you should plot out what’s going to happen in a season. Then plot out what’s going to happen in each episode. Ideally each episode will have its own arc, but things don’t always work out like that.

I like to plan things out in a fair amount of detail beforehand (this is especially helpful if you’re writing collaboratively.) Start with what’s going to happen in each episode. Once I know that, I then like to write how it starts and finishes, then the content in bullet points. If you ever can’t think of anything then don’t worry! A lot of things really come together when you’re actually writing.

The most important thing is to not worry at all about the first draft. Just get it down, editing is much easier and more fun once you have something to work with!

There are definitely much more qualified people than me out there giving advice about writing and plotting though; even if it’s directed at prose and script writers it’s still more than applicable!

Sensitivity readers:

If you have the option of sensitivity readers they’re always a great idea! But asking someone to read your work (usually for free) is both time consuming and potentially risky if you don’t know and trust them.

Tumblr, the writeblr community specifically, is a good place to find a sensitivity reader. A lot of people want the practise and are willing to do it for free if you put a call out.

One of the best ways to get feedback on your work is to cast/find people who are appropriate for the roles and then ask for feedback. Obviously they don’t have to, but you’ll find that usually they want to. You can aid in this by giving them some way to give feedback anonymously - maybe a google form - as no matter how chill and friendly you are as the prod team you will always be seen as In Charge.

If you don’t feel right asking someone, especially from a marginalised group, to read and comment on your work for free, you can always just ask general questions in forums or on social media. This isn’t as reliable, as people can lie online, but if you find the right communities and explain you just want to portray characters as accurately as possible there will always be people willing to offer some help. Reddit, for all its flaws, builds great communities, though remember to check the rules to make sure people outside of whatever group they’re aiming to support are allowed to post.

Of course, the first step to writing anything outside of your own experience is a tonne of research. The sensitivity reader should be picking up on small things, not telling you the basics of their experiences. And everyone’s experiences are different, which makes this even tougher! You can get things so spot on for a handful of people whilst inadvertently offending others. Be prepared to be adaptable and take on criticism, but also remember that you don’t have to bend to everyone’s whim; one person saying ‘but this wasn’t my experience!!’ doesn’t mean you’ve done a bad job.

Equipment:

I know you didn’t ask, but this was what I found scariest when I was Brand New.

If you have the money and you’re very serious about this I haven’t encountered a single person who wouldn’t recommend a Blue Yeti mic. However when you’re just starting out, and especially if you’re not planning to have all of your cast together record together/separately but with the same mic, blowing over $100 on a mic is huge, scary, and not always feasible.

I have three small desk mics that I loan out to my cast when needed. They cost ~£30 ($40) from (ew, I know) Amazon. You don’t need a mic for each cast member - you don’t even need a mic for the max number of character speaking in a scene at once. You could probably do it all with one mic, but the time that would take and the affect it would have on scenes may be worth the extra cost! These obviously don’t produce the crisp quality a professional recording mic would, but they have a pop filter and a windscreen and seem to do a good job at reducing background static.

Further noise reduction: Mr Alexander Jalexander Newall, when starting his podcast empire half a decade ago, got it in one: blanket forts.

If you can build a little fabric den for your cast to record in: perfect! If not, tell them just to stick a duvet over their head. This increases the risk of moving duvet sounds, but reduces everything else! And if they shift under the blanket you can always ask them to get comfortable then read the lines again.

And, info courtesy of the McElroys: you can also record in a wardrobe or a room with plenty of bookshelves if you don’t want to build the world’s most bangin’ blanket fort.

The most important advice you will ever receive:

Don’t be scared to ask for help! Join Facebook groups and ask questions! Join discord servers! Message people on Twitter and ask for advice (certain ppl are much more amenable to this than others, but this is pretty clear from their Vibe)! Heck, you can message me on Twitter (or here. Or send another anon. And if I don’t know the answer I’ll ask someone who does!) Everyone just wants to help everyone else, and if they don’t they’re probably not the kind of people you want to associate with. Good luck! Now, onto 2. Money stuff!

A lot of the info stays the same, but money kind of raises the stakes. Once money’s involved, especially once money and people you don’t know so well are involved, suddenly you have to operate like a business.

Casting:

If you’re planning to pay actors proper wages from the get-go you probably want to put out a casting call. Paid work will attract professionals, and professionals will not only do a great job, but will also help you gain an audience (and have their own equipment!)

You get to decide what the hourly rate is, but usually, depending on where you’re from, there is an average hourly rate voice actors get paid, and if you’re nowhere close to that people will be put off.

You should also make clear what the hourly rate includes: whether it is just recorded audio hours, or includes table reads and directorial time. A lot of people just have every actor record their lines separately, sometimes without direction, then edit them all together. This certainly saves on cost, and makes for a quick turnaround, but it’s no fun, and sometimes makes the show kind of soulless.

Kickstarters:

You can run a kickstarter on an unpaid project, in the hopes of eventually paying the cast and maybe funding future seasons. But I’m going to assume this is advice for ‘I can pay the cast, but what is a kickstarter for?’

Well, that’s up to you! It can be for equipment, for better editing, for podcast music, for podcast art, for a pay rise for the team, for bonus content. Depending on how many stretch goals you have, it can be for all of these things!

In short: backers give money, and get things in return, for example $5 might get you a pin badge, while $100 might get you a signed poster. When the kickstarter reaches a certain goal, maybe $5,000, then the team may then have enough money to produce a holiday special, for example. At $10,000 everyone on the team may get a 10% pay rise.

This is a great way to get people invested in the show, and a great way to make money! But if you want a really great kickstarter you’ll probably want to hire someone with experience in this area.

Contracts:

Money means contracts! Usually two will suffice, they just need edited for each individual team member:

An NDA, to prevent people from discussing the show in any inappropriate situations.

And a literal workplace contract.

You’ll be able to search how to draft these online, but it’s useful to have the help of a lawyer. There are people who do this specifically for podcasts who’ll be able to help you out, but again: you have to pay them!

Equipment:

As I said, actors will probably have their own equipment, but if you want them all recording together: you can rent a studio! They’ll already have all the equipment for you, which is The Dream!

Or you can convert a room into your own studio! Get some soundproof panelling on the walls and invest in a good mixer. I’m afraid I don’t have much advice on this, as I cannot afford anything close to a good mixer! But there are plenty of articles online with helpful information.

I wouldn’t recommend making a paid podcast as your first project, as it’s a lot of pressure, and would almost definitely mean bringing new people onto even the production side of things. There’s always the option to work on another project first, something smaller-scale, to work out any roadblocks you may run into during the paid show. But I’m not telling anyone what to do: if you’re ready, go for it!

Merula being "just an angry child that's acting out" may have let her slide and "softened" her behaviour for some players in previous years (it didn't for me personally, i mean that's no excuse to be a racist bully that treats ppl like shit imo), but if she carries on like that in yr 7 then it's more of an issue cause she's not a little girl anymore, she's a young adult. there's a difference between a 11 yr old acting like that and someone who's 18 (or about to turn 18) acting like that even if it's completely unacceptable either way. being 17-18's more than old enough to know better, she shouldn't carry on being coddled at that age. 😒

Merula absolutely needs to be held accountable for her actions because without that, she’s not likely to ever change. I can understand if even the most forgiving players are out of patience with her by now. And since she’s a seventh year, then yeah, you can argue that the childhood excuse just doesn’t fly anymore because she’s almost undoubtedly a legal adult by now. That being said, I personally still consider her age in taking it easy on her, for a couple of reasons. 

First of all, and I mean absolutely no disrespect to any teenagers who come across this post, but...seventeen? Is not grown up. Not to me. It may the point that Merula officially comes of age, but that’s just a legality. The brain doesn’t finish developing until around the mid-twenties. And that’s not even getting into how Merula is stunted and her development is arrested. Part of this is a lack of (good) guidance in her life, part of it is her own stubbornness as well. Eighteen is certainly old enough to held accountable for some of her past actions, like the racist behavior...but the thing is, I seriously don’t think Merula is racist, at least within her core thoughts and feelings. I don’t think she gives a damn about that. Her problem is that she’s obsessed with appearing powerful, and blood status is an easy shortcut to dominate her peers. That is hardly an excuse, but it’s easy to see where this is coming from, and recognizing her flaws, righting her wrongs, is only going to happen if Merula deals with her deepest issues. Unfortunately, her particular flaws make it difficult for her to confront them. Because that would be admitting weakness, and to do that is unthinkable for her. 

The second reason I factor in her age has to do with R. We still don’t know when they reached out to her, and maybe I’ll be eating my words once we get that backstory, but I still think it had to be very early on, like, Year 1 early. Merula has been groomed and had all her worst impulses nurtured by an evil group that probably doesn’t actually care about her at all, and simply sees her as a means to an end. It’s MC that they want. Merula doesn’t know better because she’s always believed that power equates to “good” and weakness equates to “bad.” And it’s not surprising, now that we know who she’s been reporting to. Merula’s conversation with the Dark Witch about R being her new “family” is only making them sound even more like a cult. And I’m sorry to say this, but Merula is exactly the kind of person that a cult would prey on. A traumatized and lonely child with no adult supervision, someone angry at the world. It is clear from Merula’s own words that R offered her power. The thing she’s always wanted more than anything else. It’s also clear that even after all this time, she wasn’t an official member of the Cabal. “Are you ready to join R, Merula?” She probably did join over the summer but just...that means R has been dangling acceptance in front of her all this time, under the condition that she do their bidding. 

It’s messed up. This Cabal is preying on children. They did it to Jacob, and now they’re doing to Merula. After all this time, of course she hasn’t turned out to be the greatest person. She has a lot to answer for, and unfortunately, the reveal of her being the mole only muddies the waters even more. The fact is, she already needed to make up for her actions, but now she also has a lot of explaining to do. As a fan of Merula and someone who is sympathetic to her pain, I used to say that I would give her the chance to redeem herself, no questions asked. But now, because of this reveal, I have to retract the “no questions asked” part of that. Forgiving her for her actions and trusting her again are two different things. Luca is generally a merciful person and Merula means too much to them, for her to not get that chance if she genuinely wants it. But they would be incredibly naïve to trust her again so easily.

Carlos slashed at the man with his knife, quickly pulling back into a protective stance. Him and Jay had been ambushed by some of Yzma’s goons, the woman angered about them taking over some of her territory. The fight had been going fine, until Jay fucking got himself stabbed. 

(It happened so fast. One second they were fighting back to back, then the next Jay went down beside him. Carlos had let out a furious scream, and elbowed the man in the face hard enough to hear a crack. But his distraction gave the guy Carlos had been fighting an advantage, enough to back the boy into a corner.)

The guy took a step back, snarling as he brought a hand up to cut Carlos had just made. He looked pissed. But Carlos didn’t stick around long enough for the man to retaliate. He ducked under the goon’s arm, slashing again at the man’s ankle to slow him as he ran. 

The goon collapsed behind him, cursing Carlos out loudly. Carlos ignored him, running over to Jay. The boy was still collapsed on the ground from his injury, uncomfortably close to the guy who hurt him. Jay was conscious, though the blood soaking through his shirt made Carlos wonder how much longer Jay could hold on. 

“Hey…” Jay wheezed, struggling to sit up. 

“Hi.” Carlos let out a hysterical laugh. Fuck. He pulled the other boy up and wrapped Jay’s arm around his own shoulders. They didn’t have time to waste, not while the goon Carlos just hurt was pulling himself up close behind them, and the man’s other allies were regaining consciousness. 

He dragged Jay out of the alleyway as fast as he could, putting distance between them and their attackers. A significant part of him wanted to go back and finish beating the shit out of the guy who hurt Jay, but Carlos knew it was more important to get Jay to the hideout as fast as possible. 

Once they were a safe enough distance from the ally Carlos started awkwardly pulling off his jacket, his rush to keep them moving while supporting the larger teen making it difficult. 

“Do you have any apple on you?” He asked, finally managing to rip the jacket off. Jay shook his head, giving a pained groan when Carlos pushed the sweatshirt to his wound. 

“Fuck.” Carlos cursed, genuine fear creeping into his voice. They’d run out at the hideout, not having enough magic yet to replenish their supply, and his stash was in his treehouse. 

“I’ll be fine.” Jay slurred, rather unconvincingly, but Carlos didn't call him on it. 

It wasn't a far walk to the hideout, but Jay's labored breathing and pained expression made it feel like an eternity. Carlos actually had to lift Jay up the stairs, the older teen too weak to make it up himself. 

When they finally got inside Carlos practically dumped Jay on the couch, racing to find their medical kit.

“I’ll be right back!” He said, breathless as he ran into the other room. 

“‘Los... it's… fine… just come over here….” Jay mumbled from the couch, delirious from blood loss. Carlos ignored him, hands fumbling to grab the medkit.

“Got it!” He tripped over himself in his rush to return to Jay’s side, trying to keep his breathing under control. Jay was losing blood fast, and they had no failsafe right now. No sleeping death to hold them frozen between worlds until their bodies healed, nothing to protect them. 

Carlos cut Jay's shirt away with his knife, displaying the bloody wound. He got to work almost immediately, hands shaking as he held the needle, even though he’d done this a thousand times before. 

“It’s fine, this is totally fine. You're gonna be totally fine, okay? And then I'll call the girls and we’ll all yell at you for being a fucking idiot and it’s just gonna be fine.” Carlos rambled as he worked, crooked stitches forming on the other boy’s stomach.

He’s lost too much blood. A voice told him, but he forced it away, closing off the final stitch. He reached for bandages, knowing that even though he should probably clean the blood off first, keeping pressure on the wound was more important now. 

As he tied off the bandages Jay’s hand grabbed his wrist, catching his attention. Carlos’s breath caught in his throat, looking down at the other boy. Jay looked up at him with clouded eyes, intense in their darkness. 

He pulled Carlos’s hand to his mouth, and kissed it, whispering against Carlos’s blood crusted skin. 

“You’re so beautiful….” Jay said, closing his eyes. Panic swelled up again in Carlos's chest. 

“Jay?” He wheezed, shaking the other boy. Jay’s breath hitched, his face scrunching up in pain, though his eyes stayed closed. 

Carlos let out a wobbly breath. “He’s just asleep…. He’s fine. Just asleep.” Carlos said, voice shaky and chest tight. Jay was alive. He was ok. He kept reminding himself, again and again, eyes trained on the boy, as if he’d disappear in a moment. He could. He could die, and be gone in a second. 

Carlos took a strained breath, lying his head on Jay's chest. He knew he should clean up, but he needed to stay here, just a moment longer. Just remind himself that Jay was there, that he was alive.

Jay blinked awake slowly, an ache making itself predominantly clear as he became more lucid. He looked to the side to see Carlos half-kneeling on the floor half-lying on the couch, his head pillowed on Jay's chest. Jay couldn't see Carlos’s face, the younger teen’s head tilted away. Jay’s shirt was clean and didn't have a huge hole in it, so he assumed Carlos had changed it. 

Jay shifted slightly, alerting the other teen that he was awake. He heard Carlos's breathing hitch. The boy lifted himself slowly, turning to face Jay with wide, watery eyes. 

Jay’s own breath stalled, as if it was stolen from his chest. Fresh tears overflowed down Carlos's face, joining ones dried there already. His face scrunched up, as if he was in physical pain, and Jay felt his heart twist in his chest. He reached out to the other teen, gasping as Carlos leaned down and pressed their lips together. 

It wasn't his first kiss, not by a long shot, not even truly the first he’d had with Carlos. But there was something desperate about it, something that made him wrap his arms around Carlos’s smaller frame and hold him close, remind Carlos that he was there, he was alive. 

Carlos pulled away, slightly, pushing their foreheads together instead of their lips. Jay reached up, wiping away the other’s tears with gentle fingers. 

“Don’t ever do that again.” Carlos croaked, voice ruined from crying. Jay frowned, tilting his chin up to peck Carlos's lips. He couldn't make that promise. The younger boy shook his head, closing his eyes in the face of Jay's refusal. 

“You promised Jay, you promised you wouldn't die.” Carlos's voice cracked. Jay reached up, placing his hand on the other’s cheek. 

“I’m not dead.” He said, thumb moving to catch Carlos’s tears. The boy took a shaky breath, moving to bury his face in Jay’s neck, despite the awkward angle. 

“You almost were....” Carlos said again, muffled into Jay's skin. Jay tightened his hold on the other boy. 

“But I’m not.” Carlos huffed a broken laugh into his chest. 

“I guess not.”

Jay leaned down, pressing his lips to Carlos’s. The other teen was practically underneath him, pulling Jay deeper into their breathy kiss. He squeezed Carlos’s hip, tilting his head for a better angle. 

He pulled away, breathing deeply. He looked down, studying the other’s face, Carlos’s half-lidded eyes. 

“You’re so fucking beutiful.” 

Carlos blinked up at him, surprised. Jay felt his face heat up, but then Carlos laughed, bright and musical, pulling the other boy down to kiss him again. 

When they pulled away again, Carlos grinned up at him. 

“You’re so fucking handsome.” He laughed, grin cocky. Jay groaned, burying his face in the other’s neck. 

“You’re mean.” 

“I thought it was sweet!” Carlos laughed. “Although I was serious about you being handsome.” 

“Fuck off.” Jay mumbled, blush hidden in Carlos’s neck.

Can you help me with one kind of stupid thing? How can I start rping on tumblr? Like... How do i plot and interact?

we all had to start somewhere, so this is a more than valid question ! first off, here and here are two pretty extensive guides to tumblr rping, but i’ll try to cut everything short under the read-more and have it be more up to date. also if you have any more questions or want more details on a certain topic, don’t be afraid to ask again !

i. types of rps.

since you found this blog i hope it’s safe to assume you somewhat know your way around the rpc ? but just in case, the following tags are most popular for different type of rps: appless rp, bio rp, skeleton rp, semi appless rp, twitter rp and lsrp. there are also a good amount of subcategories for rps, for example apartment rp, mumu rp ( multi-muse ), new rp, pairs rp, etc. it all kind of depends what you’re looking for but for starters i’d recommend appless rps as they’re the easiest to step foot in.

all of the above are group roleplays with set rules, but if you’re not into that, there’s also indie rping. the main tag is indie rp with different subcategories as well. the indie com is more laid-back as you basically write down your own rules ( always make sure to read other ppl’s rules as well ) and you can take as much time for your replies as you’d like opposed to groups where the time limit is 2 - 5 days nowadays. though, i’d only rec the indie com for people over 18 as it has many muns who like to post smut starters without properly tagging them but using nsfw gifs. also there are quite a few nasty ppl out there who like to write inc*st or non-consenting threads which just .. yikes Blocked.

ii. joining a rp.

as you’re browsing the tags, you’ll hopefully find a rp you like and would like to join. please, please make sure to read the plot, rules and if applicable faq pages completely and if it’s a new rp also scrolling through the blog itself just to avoid possibly joining a rp that allows something ( or someone ) you’d rather not be affiliated with. in case everything’s fine and you went through all the pages, it’s best to have the taken / characters page open along with the application format just to avoid using a faceclaim ( the celeb you’d like your character to look like ), name or even label that’s already in use. 

most admins are very adamant about the app format not being changed ( ex. all lowercase or certain words in uppercase, etc ) so please listen to them otherwise they’ll ask you to resend the app or they’ll have to change it on the taken page. it’s always good for an admin to see that their members actually care about what they created.

most apps ask for a faceclaim, name, age, gender, pronouns, label ( + tag ), occupation, positive and negative traits ( + tag ) and sometimes a fun fact, their zodiac sign, what they googled last, a movie / song / show they love, etc. basically just send in your app as soon as it’s finished ! below you’ll also find an old app of mine for an appless rp.

iii. setting up an account.

hopefully you know how to set up an account on tumblr, but if not, the first guide covers it  well. as soon as your account is set up, install new xkit ( without it you basically won’t be able to write replies ). select xkit on your dashboard and install the following extensions ( click ‘ get extensions ‘ ): anti-capitalism, drafts+, editable reblogs ( the most important ! ), go-to-dash, no recommended, old sidebar, old stats, one-click reply, outbox, timestamps, tweaks, xinbox. as for tweaks, go back to ‘ my xkit ‘, find ‘ tweaks ‘ and try to see what you like best.

from here on i recommend following the steps from the first guide, starting at ‘ THE ACCOUNT: AESTHETICS ‘ as i basically do the same. here’s also my theme tag along with a general one.

iv. writing your intro.

now before you’re able to plot with others, you’ll have to write an intro. it’s essentially just to introduce yourself with a small blurb and then elaborating on your muse ( character ). below you can find an example in the form of an old blog of mine, it was for a skeleton rp, but basically it’s the same for appless rps ( except that i never write a bio or create a headcanon page for those ). if you follow the link to the intro, you’ll see a load of text.

the first thing i always do for my intro is add a gif icon ( usually 100x100 pixel or below and you can find them by typing in https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/danielle-campbell-gif-icons for example ), write something small about me / the rp and then add the app format under a read more. everything underneath is the muse’s backstory, personality and wanted plots. ( also as a tip it’s always good to trigger warn your writing. )

v. plotting.

this is often dreaded due to bad past experiences or anxiety but honestly.. keep calm during this. plotting is actually one of my favorite things and i tend to ramble a Lot while talking to strangers so as long as you’re passionate about your muse it’ll work out. and if someone’s not interested in plotting with your muse someone else definitely will. as a true flop i didn’t include any wanted plots in my intro, but i’m also very spontaneous regarding connections aka i’ll read their intro and think of a plot that could work and let them add onto it bc only the mun knows their muse best. if you need any connections idea though, here and here are a few.

as for approaching someone, most of the time i’m looking for something in their intro i could use to bond over outside rping, like with my intro it could be a shared interest for dc and / or marvel. or honestly just compliment them on their muse bc i love doing so when you can really feel they put a lot of effort into creating them. alternatively just quote a vine in all caps.

one thing to avoid doing is sound soo very monotone when you can clearly see that they’re excited to plot and you just don’t seem to care. sharing excitement is a good thing while plotting and the rpc in general !

vi. replying.

plugging in this guide one last time bc the last part covers all of it !

vii. extras.

make sure you’re only following blogs from the main rp’s blogroll to avoid confusion.

if you want to leave a rp, please message the main. a simple ‘ hey ! i’m afraid this rp isn’t for me ‘ or ‘ i won’t have time to dedicate to this rp ‘ will do. it’s always better than to just delete or switch to another rp.

it’s nice to check the starter tag from time to time to make sure new members feel welcome ( most if not all rps have their own starter tag which can be found on their blog ).

in case you join a rp that has meme days, don’t be afraid to ask the admins for help even if it’s just to find some to reblog ( museinspo has a tag for them as well along with other musings blogs ). in addition it’s polite to send everyone a meme to answer / reply to.

museinspo’s navigation might also help clear up a few things, plus it’s a great blog for character creation and development.

AN: OMG remember when I said I’d have this posted in a few days almost three weeks ago? Do you ever have moments when you’re like, “Yes I have time to do this.” and the universe is like “....The F*** you do.” Well, anyways here we are, Midoriya takes Y/N on their first date. (should also note here Y/N can be whomever you want but my inspiration is my typical Melanin Queen <3)

Midoriya, the ever calm, ever sweet little bean of Class 1-A sat eagerly in your hospital room, admiring the work he had done while you were in physical therapy. He hoped you’d like it. He understood that underneath all of the streamers and hero décor it was still as stuffy hospital room, but he had made a promise to you and damnit (dare he say it), you were going to have nothing but a good time.

It was Monday. Midoriya’s time to shine. 

Taking a step out of your room and sliding the door closed to not ruin the surprise he sat in one of the gray chairs in the hospital hallway, his mind wandering back to how he, Todoroki, and Bakugou ironed out the details to this unique event...

Several Days earlier

“L/N made it out of surgery as expected.” The doctor began only to be cut off by the rather battered group of soon-to-be heroes that stood eagerly outside of the surgical unit. 

“Y/N....did they...did they die?” 

“He said as expected you moron!” Bakugou’s brash voice cut through the air, causing Midoriya to bristle and Todoroki to sink in his chair with slight embarrassment.

THe doctor cleared his throat slightly before continuing, “Yes Young Shoto, the surgery went well and we were able to stabilize their injuries'. It will be a difficult road to recovery, but seeing as they’re in the care of our hospital staff, and you three, I think they’ll be just fine.” 

All three of them began to light up at the cheeks before turning away to some object other than the unsuspecting doctor. Midoriya, the tile floor, Todoroki, a lamp, Bakugou, he was practically burning holes through the ceiling. 

Midoriya was first to speak, “The date! We promised Y/N dates!” 

“But they’re in the hospital for the next several weeks at least.” Todoroki added, “I don’t think they will let them leave.” 

“We’ll plan them here!” The green haired boy smiled, “It will be fun!” 

The three of them spent the next hour ironing out the details. And by ironing out the details it meant heavy arguing, Todoroki’s deadpan replies, Bakugou’s screaming, and Midoriya using several pages of paper to write and rewrite the arrangements. 

“Okay I think we got it!” The scribe let out a heavy sigh, staring at the piece of paper, “I’ll take Y/N on Monday, Todoroki, you have Wednesday, and Kacchan will finish on Friday...so strange Kacchan usually you’d like to go first in everything.” 

“That’s because Bakugou likes Y/N.” Todoroki said without blinking an eye.

“WHAT! Take that back you IcyHot bastard you don't know squat!” 

“Oh I guess that does make sense.” Midoriya nodded, “That way you can see what we’re planning and have something to top them all. That’s so sweet Kacchan-”

“Don’t agree with him Deku!” 

“You two would make an odd couple.” Todorki chimed in, ignoring the heated blond,  “But maybe having a girlfriend would calm you down a bit.” 

“I’LL KILL YOU BOTH!”

Present

“Oh hey Midoriya.” Your voice caught the student by alarm, shaking him out of his trip down a rather loud and painful memory lane.

“Oh, Hey Y/N - wait! Dont open that yet!” He jumped to his feet, scrambling over to the door.

You narrowed your eyes, rotating the wheels of your wheelchair in an attempt to nudge the boy out of your way. 

“Give me one second! Just have to-finish up one last thing!” Midoriya quickly slipped through your hospital room door, leaving you bursting with both irritation and anticipation. After a few moments he finally slid the door open, “Okay its ready!” 

“Better be.” You huffed while wheeling yourself forward, “I had a long as day and I’m-”

Before you could finish your words your mouth hung open, taking in your once bland hospital room, now adorned in purple, white, and yellow decor. 

“I hope you like it.” The student asked while smiling and scratching the back of his head, “I know Mirko is your favorite hero, after all.” 

Everything in your room was Mirko themed, your bedsheets had a Mirko themed blanked strewn across it, purple streamers hung from the ceiling, there was even a basket of fresh carrots at your bedside. Midoriya knew how to impress when it came to heroes. 

“Oh, and this is for you!” Before you could protest, he slipped a pair of signature Mirko ears over your head, causing you to laugh as you glanced at your reflection through your window. 

“Midoriya, this is too much, really?” 

His smile grew even brighter; you couldn’t believe that people could smile that big, “We’re just getting started!” 

He helped you into your hospital bed before placing a bento box filled with sticky rice cut in the shape of mini rabbits while you two settled into the ‘Ultimate Rabbit Hero montage’, which basically was a bootleg movie Midorya put together of all of Mirko’s interviews, fight scenes, and press conferences. After that, Midoriya even went a step further with dessert,

Carrot Cake. Because he’s Midoriya, and you don’t deserve a friend like MIdoriya. 

“I don't know how anyone will top this. This is very sweet Izuku.” You spoke while setting your plate at your nightstand. Midorya sat beside you in a chair, also finishing up the dessert. 

“Please don’t tell Kacchan that.” Midoriya looked your way, half joking, but also half serious. Honestly, the poor boy had enough praise in relation to Bakugou that’s caused way to many fights between the two of them. 

“Well. Both he and Todoroki have quite the standard to live up to. You gonna tell me what they’re planning?” You asked while leaning forward, hoping you could get something out of the sweet boy next to you.

“They didn’t tell me anything, I swear.” He smiled while holding his hands up defensively, “But knowing them I’m sure you’ll have a great time.” 

Seeing the truth behind his words smirked, “Well, we’ll see. But seriously, this was beyond wonderful. Thank you Midoriya.”  Your hand reached out to give him a gentle pinch at his freckled cheeks. 

“It’s not nearly enough Y/N. You saved our lives back there. I just feel bad that you got so hurt. If only’ I’d been there sooner I’d-Ouch!” He winced slightly as the hold on his cheeks tightened in your grasp,

“Don’t worry about me okay. I’ll be fine. The doctor actually said I was making quite the progress for someone who should have died.” 

Midoriya turned your way, smiling that heroic smile, “That’s amazing Y/N. No wonder why you like Mirko so much, you’re just like her! You always bounce back even after the toughest injuries.”  

 You laughed softly, “I thought you were going to say I’m like her because of my foul attitude.” 

“Well...that too I guess.”
