FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS SENTENCE STARTERS. warnings for: guns, violence, death, murder.
What in the goddamn…?
Let's keep this in the groove, hey? Smooth moves, like smooth little babies...
Baby, the odds may look long, but that's just because we ain't done rigging them. I won't toss the dice until we are.
Look, I ain't a harbor for illusions. I ain't expecting to get out of this shin-dig alive.
Can you spell detention? I'll tell you how I spell it: DEATHtention.
You are in the LIBRARY. Be quiet here and filled with SHHHHH.
I am lord of this institution. Where once, long ago, I was a student here. Now, I am its OMNIPOTENT GOD-PRINCIPAL.
______, you're about to have your FAVORITE treat - a VISITOR. Won't that be nice? DON'T eat the visitor, boy. Don't. Please.
What YOU ask is of NULL importance! _____ besieges us, there are more important things to worry about than DATA and FACTS!
ENOUGH! Stop filling my precious brain cell units with irrelevant data!
And… I wonder why it didn't hit me before, until I saw that memory in your hands.
How gracious of you. A mannerly killing.
Can't have brains moving around of their own volition.
In short: Brains, a heart, and courage... spine. I think there was a story once where a band of murderous thugs sought these things.
The ghosts aren't real? That changes everything.
Baby, this little reunion of ours? Chalk me up as a no-show.
I'm familiar with the care and handling of explosives.
How hard can it be? Just light them and throw.
I'd love to debate you on this, but there's no time.
No way. I'm not going to torch myself for your amusement.
It would be pretty funny, wouldn't it? Oh, don't look at me that way. I'm sure you'll be fine.
_____ is dead - what a mess you've made!
There will be no repeat of the trouble we had last time, I trust?
Even now? On the brink of battle?
You'll need a disguise, then. Or overwhelming firepower. Whatever works.
You must be, like… a brain in a jar!
Frontal assaults on casinos? Not good for business.
You have an interest in this even if you're too stupid to know it. If you have an interest in breathing, you have an interest in this.
They have no idea what other cards I'm holding. It's a strong hand, believe me - I dealt it to myself.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It'd be like them to keep paperwork.
I don't have friends here.
We'll kill more with two of us.
You only trust strangers?
Besides. I was on break when it happened.
I want you to find something out for me. I don't know if there's anything to find, but I need someone to try.
Gonna be hard covering you when I can't move my legs.
Goddamn it! Don't sneak up on me like that. What do you want?
Let me aim that for you next time.
You're hiding something. Spit it out. You owe me.
You got no right asking me that. Drop it.
It's just something I'm not ready to discuss. With you or anybody.
That part of my life is over now. So is this discussion.
Must've been one hell of a miscommunication.
Yeah, well. That's how they wrote it up in the report.
Life has a way of punishing you for the mistakes you make. Big enough mistake, punishment can take a while.
You're like a switchblade stuck on flick.
Shhhh… we're hunting shitheads.
All this planning won't matter much when the bullets fly, anyway.
No sense trying to hold the past between your fingers when it's nothing but dirt.
That fucking monument outside?
Started? Took to it like a fish to water... well, if you know what a fish is.
What the hell is a fish?
They're like birds, except they stay underwater.
Anyway, I've seen pictures. One guy even had one above his bar in Redding, except it was made of Pre-War plastic.
Greetings, _____. The disappointment you are about to experience delights me.
Can I order room service?
Am I punching too much? I get carried away.
You mean like this melee weapon right here in my hand at this very second?
Are you talking to me, or a future _____ who is not already doing that?
He always does what he feels is right. Usually that's a great quality.
Sure, I left them. But that didn't mean I'd ever be free of them.
We always make enemies, never allies.
Hold on. I see something I want to punch.
But at least I got the chance to try. At least I know for sure that there was nothing I could do.
Wow, _____ is looking for you, huh? What do you think he wants? Bowling partner?
But… you don't have a "this is good news" expression on your face.
Well, welcome, then. I'm _____. I live in a hole in the ground.
Well that shouldn't be a problem for me. I can't afford anything like that.
I've heard they shoot lasers from their eyes.
I just kind of drift from place to place.
I'll be honest. You're the first person I've run across out here that looks like she can really handle herself.
Aw, you really know how to make a girl feel like a stray cat.
He was dead when I got there.
This better not be about the meaning of life.
Damn, son, you look like ten miles of bad road.
Are you following me?
I saved your life so I kinda feel responsible for you is all.
I'll let that slide seeing how you gotta mind full of vengeance for that no-good polecat and all.
Yup, but this is getting a might embarrassing - people are going to start to talk.
That's a puzzle, all right. I'm sure it's nothing.
What in tarnation was you thinkin'?
I'll thank you not to touch my plunder.
Meaner than a rattlesnake, ain't ya?
To the Bone Orchard you go!
Seems they made like a ghost.
Won't help you none to lay low.
The Boss is pretty clear on this. I can't let you in unless you're by your lonesome.
You did a super job wrapping things up! And I'm not just saying that because I have to!
Here's a print-out with some additional information!
What? Did you expect me to applaud your efforts to support a deranged warlord?
That wig is going to haunt my nightmares. Seriously.
That one… had a little kick to it. The poisonous kind of kick.
Ahh, that feels better. I might not die for a while yet.
Am I dead? Is this Heaven? Oh. Hi _____. Guess not.
Will the medical wonders of the post-apocalyptic world never cease?
Back to the tomb, I suppose. If you need me, et cetera.
Strange how dead bodies appear wherever you go.
As the old saying goes, two's company, but three's a small army. Okay, I'm paraphrasing a bit, but you get the idea.
Wait, wait, wait a second. What's going on? Am I playing Vergil to your Dante?
I've woken up worse places. Not many, though.
That's sounding dangerously close to a plan, _____.
Alrighty then, I'll just head out. Alone. By myself. Into the dangerous wastes.
If I buy it out there, I want twelve mariachi bands playing at my funeral. A medal might be nice, too.
I'm not exactly a mercenary, but taking out scumbags of this magnitude wouldn't cause me to lose any sleep.
Why don't you make like Odysseus and get lost?
For as lack of adornment is said to become some women, so will this place, without your presence, bring delight.
I've run out of witty ways to tell you to leave, so why don't you just go?

Probably there are so many grammar errors, so I’m sorry.
Please, reblog. It’ll makes me happy! Hope you enjoy <3
I open the door of our apartment with a heavy sigh, day was exhausting, so much trouble for so little time. I leave my purse on the hall table and went ahead for the living room searching for him.
"Baby, I'm home!"
"Coming!" Aizawa shout from the bathroom
I enter the kitchen to drink some water while he's finishing his shower. I sit on the chair's bench passing through the social apps in my phone, getting immersed in trivial things. I didn't notice him approaching my side, only lifting my head when I feel him involving me in his slender arms. I put the phone down returning the hug and hiding my face in his neck, inhaling his fresh scent, feeling all my tiredness leaving me.
"How was your day, kitty?" I smile hearing the nickname. Always loved his voice, even when he's only murmuring to himself something about the students turning his life into hell, it's so quiet and calm, relaxing. He has this effect on me, regardless of anything he can always calm me down.
"Stressful, at least I'm here with you now. Yours?"
"Normal" He starts patting my head slowly, leaving sweet kisses all over my face and finishing with a peck on my lips. I smile and tighter the embrace as a thank you.
"Are you hungry?" I give him a nod "Good. I'm gonna make something for us"
I stay sitting, watching him cooking for us, admiring the sight. His face frowned in concentration as he cut the vegetables, his hands floating through the kitchen leaking skills as everything he did. The dinner was set on the table one hour after.
After the soup, I went to the bathroom for a shower.
Now we're laying on the sofa watching TV, my head positioned on his arm while his other one is surrounding my waist, my back against his chest, and his face hiding between my neck and shoulders, his breathing warming me up in a comforting way.
"Are you awake?" I turn to face him without an answer.
"Hi," He says before leaving a peak on my lips. I smile and return the kiss. "Can I help you relax?" Aizawa lifted himself, doesn't waiting for my response, and put himself on top of me, kissing my jawline.
"Baby, I'm sorry but I'm very tired," I said, throwing my head back allowing him more access to my skin.
"You don't need to do anything. Please, I wanna make you feel good" I let go a sigh hearing his voice on the foot of my ear, causing me goosebumps. He smiled, knowing that he won. "I need hear you saying, kitty."
"If you don't run with it maybe I change my mind" He chuckles.
"Ok, ok, I understood," He says as he reaching for the hem of my shirt lifting it, and throwing the piece of clothing to the floor.
He goes down while leaving wet kisses along the way. He's staring at my chest with lusty and a small smile playing on his lips. He starts with sweet pecks between my breasts becoming wet open mouth ones, he reaches the nipples and starts sucking around the bud. I grip his black strands and pull it harder, getting a hum of the older—he adores when I treat him roughly—signaling that he was supposed to stop teasing. Getting the message, he opens his mouth and gets the bud between teeth, circling it with his tongue and sucking it hard getting a moan of his name. I arch my back, gripping his hair stronger and pulling his head closer to me,—if that were possible—getting a groan from the bottom of his throat and a bite on my swelling bud. Aizawa always said that he loves my breasts, the feeling of them against his face goes him crazy. While he's giving attention to one breast his free hand starts playing with the neglected one. All of this, he does, looking directly into my eyes.
He continues playing with my breasts, alternating between them until he gets pleased. I pull his face up for a kiss. And he continues his path. After, he passed through my belly, leaving sucks, kisses, bites. Before he gets my remaining clothes off me, he licks around my bellybutton while he saw me shivering at the feeling of his tongue. He pulls off my shorts and underwear and looks directly at my cunt, soaked after his teasing, with an intense look, he runs his nose against my core, smelling my desire. He takes his hands to my clit and pulls the hood up, leaving it exposed to him—all I can do is breathing heavily, my legs shaking for the waiting. My body is burning with desire, I can feel the sweat all over my body. Then, he blows the swollen clit and my legs shake more, I let a whispering "fuck" pass through my dry lips. I grip his hair again, pulling his face closer to my core, but I find resistance. Suddenly, he grabbed my waist and turned us on the sofa making me sit on his chest. Seeing my confusion he explains "I want you to sit on my face, ride my face until you feel satisfied. I want you to use my face for your pleasure." He can feel me shivering and shaking with desire at his submissive tone. God, he knows what he does to me. As one last blow, he whispers "Please, maste-" I didn't allow him finished his ask, I'm smothering him with my pussy and locking my legs around his face grabbing his hair. We both groan simultaneously at the feeling. He wraps his arms around my legs and presses them around his face. He gives the first lick from the bottom up, dragging his tongue to the clit and moving in circular motions at a slow pace, return to the hole, in and out, circling it, dragging his teeth on my clit. Always hitting the right places. I can't control my moans at this point, I'm pressing my legs tighter around the side of his head. I can feel his nose on my clit, his whimpers as I use his face. I reach forward e and grab the sofa arm.
"SHIT!! that's it, baby, like that -fuck-" He sucked hard my clit, that's my limit. I press his face on my core and starting ride faster, his hands are squeezing my thighs and he's eating me out like I'm your last meal. "Oh my god, that's it, baby boy. You're so good - fuck- I love your mouth, always so good!" I said, looking at his beautiful face between my legs—like a faithful devotee—and I'd see his eyes rolling to the back of his head and shooting close. "Look at me." He stayed that way "I said to look at me." I raise my hips and he opens his eyes immediately.
"Why did you stop?" He raises his head searching for my cunt. I push him back to the sofa.
"You are going to look straight into my eyes until I say that's enough. Do you understand?" I grab his dripping sticky face, covered with my juices, waiting for his response.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I- please, I need more." I almost cum on the spot, fuck, why he has to be so fucking beautiful.
I return to my previous position, riding his face. Aizawa takes his fingers to my slit, rubbing the hole and put two fingers, bumping into, twisting his wrist just that right way, curling his fingers, hitting my g-spot, sucking, licking, leaving little bites over my clit. I could pass out from so much pleasure. All are incredibly pleasant, overwhelming. I can feel my climax getting more and more closer—but a little bit different as the usual—Aizawa, noticing it too, quicken his pace and unconsciously starts slightly bumping his hips into the air. I hold his hair tighter, pulling his black strands, my legs start shaking, my chest moving up and down with my breathing becomes desperate, my vision gets blank; I arch my back, throwing my head back, feeling the knot in the stomach tighter, my walls clenching in Aizawa's fingers. "CLOSE - FUCK"
He's watching me intensely, carefully, and marveling himself with the sight, getting more and more pleased by himself, knowing that he's the one who makes me feel that way, that he's capable of getting me like this, above him, riding his face and pleasuring myself, using and abusing of him, just like the way I enjoy.
I reached my climax with a loud moan of his name, arching my back and tensing all my muscles, cumming, squirting, all over his face. To Aizawa, that's the vision of the gods, he can't help himself of arch his own back—feeling his cock twitching and his balls squeezing, feeling his entire body burning, the coil in his stomach compressing tighter —his eyes rolling to the back of his head, and, just like that, he came, with a muffled loud groan he cum inside of his trousers.
I feel my body getting relax and heavy. Aizawa helps me to lay beside him while he's licking his lips, savoring my taste.
"Oh, my-fuck- baby. This was amazing." Aizawa says as he drags me to lay in his chest, wrapping me in a hug. I start to kiss him and reach my hand down to help him but he holds my hand intertwining his fingers with mine, kissing the back of it. "You don't need to, I'm already done"
"Oh- this was hot" He chuckles hiding his face between my neck and shoulder.
We stayed lie until we recover and went to the shower for cleaning and relaxing.
Now we're in the bathtub, my back against his chest, his arms wrapping my body, and his head laying in my shoulders. I'm patting his head humming some songs.
"Are you relax?"
"I can say so" Smiling I reaching for his lips, leaving a small kiss "Thank you, love"

Little Witch - Part 21
The Darkling x Reader
The atmosphere in the Palace was welcoming and enjoyable yet you couldn't help but dampen the mood of those around you. Your smiles were visible fake, your laughs as forced as the diplomacy of the evening. It was hard to focus on anything but the Queen's request, you could still feel her cold touch on your hands, could still hear her voice as if she was standing next to you. Some would say being in the presence of the Royals was a blessing by the Saints, but to you it was a sudden blight; a curse.
The duties and obligations you had were out the window now as you looked for the particular head of red flame hair, completely ignoring the Kerch ambassador and his slurring words of trade agreements.
Did Genya tell her General that the charming Lantsov Prince was soon to be wed to the Deputy of the Second-army? Or did she keep that part to herself? You had a feeling it was the latter given Aleksander's behavior earlier but what if he knew- What if his obedient spy told him everything and he was looking at your predicament as an opportunity, even though it would hurt you to the core and shatter your moral values. There's nothing he wouldn't do for more power.
'Deputy Y/L/N, I presume?' A man in a military uniform adorned with colorful medals approached you from the side, silently shooeing the Kerch man away and taking his place despite your obvious air of hostility. You were in no mood for diplomacy.
'The one and only.'
'So I have heard.' You could make out the smallest tinge of an accent reminiscent of a Fjerdan rhythm through the spoken words. His blonde hair and long beard tell-tale signs of his druskelle service and enough for your anger to flare. 'Tell me, what kind of Grisha are you?' You didn't miss the disgust dripping from the word as he forced it through his teeth. No doubt he hated himself for being here.
'A powerful one.'
'More powerful than the Sun-Summoner?'
'Much.'
'I won't forget that.'
'I hope you don't. Tell your people too, it'll save me some time and perhaps some lives.'
'Is that a threat Deputy?'
'Yes' He snorted and looked around the lively room.
'Fjerda isn't here to fight tonight, we're here to party. I thought it would be the same for you, no?'
'I don't keep peace with people who wish my kind dead.'
'Neither does your General. But the West, I'm not too sure they're on the same page'
You bit back the urge to smack the tall man stone-cold. The West was a tricky situation that had been playing heavily on your mind for as long as you could remember. Although it was Ravka, Grisha were no longer safe there. Zlatan was coercing with the Fjerdans to capture Grisha in exchange for military backup and as much as it angered you to keep the First-Army General alive, it would create a whole other problem if he was found dead.
'West Ravka is Ravka. All Zlatan is is a mere General of the First-Army. He's no King.'
'You would be surprised. People would listen to a stableboy if he spoke of truth and justice.'
'And would Fjerda back him up too?'
He smirked and gave a nod of his head in amusement at your raging eyes. 'You drüsje get so worked up over words. It's actions that matter.'
'Not here in Ravka. Remember where and what you are. Then think of what half of this room can do to you' Without so much as a goodbye, you walked away from him with a huff and continued looking for Genya. You hadn't even seen Aleksander make an appearance yet but you didn't think you wanted to see him, not after your conversation with the Queen.
We wish for you to marry my son
Every time you thought you had shaken the haunting request, it came back with a shiver up your spine. It went against everything you ever believed in. You hated the crown, the Lantsov line, you hated the Ravka they created. But this didn't feel like something you could reject. It wasn't a proposal, it was an alliance.
You turned your head to the doors and watched as Zoya clambered up the stairs in her stunning blue silk kefta. Behind her, a Suli performer climbed up on her silks as if it were all she'd ever known. Her body swung gracefully and smoothly, not batting an eyelid at all her observers. It was memorizing and distracting, something for which you were thankful.
'Haven't you got some Dukes and Ministers to babysit?' Zoya appeared beside you, eyeing up the empty glass in your hand.
'Let them roam free for the night'
'As long as they're not groveling over me'
'Because your presence is so much more captivating than the Sun-Summoners' You rolled your eyes and made your way to get a new, full, glass.
'Thank you for finally admitting it'
'Where's Genya Saffin?'
She made a face and took a glass to, bringing it up to her lips and taking a small sip.
'With Alina. Why?'
'Oh nothing, just some details to hash out about Marie attending dinner' You covered up. 'I spoke with a Fjerdan dignitary. He had no problem hiding that West Ravka is coming to their aid.' Zoya was a good soldier and a great tactician, if you were to tell anyone such sensitive information, it would definitely be Zoya.
'I overheard a Zemeni ambassador say they were spotted at Zlatan's rallies. He's raising his ranks whilst our own coffers run out. We can't afford a war with each of our borders'
'Try telling the King that' The Lantsov King. Nikolai's father. Nikolai.
'Saints are you alright?' Zoya looked at you with wide eyes, then to the broken glass crumbling in your hand. You had been clutching it so hard you managed to smash it and slice the palm of your hand.
'Oh umm- I need a moment' You disposed of the glass on a nearby table and basically ran to the nearest washroom. Crimson red blood dripped slowly from your fingers as you tried to keep it from staining your kefta while you closed the door behind you.
This was the first moment since your talk with the Queen where you were alone. Truly alone, no ambassador looming over your shoulder or a Duke at your side. Alexander, Alina, and Genya were still nowhere to be seen and the demonstration would begin shortly but all you wanted to do was stay in this tiny and stuffy room, shut off from everything. You washed your hand down with water, hissing in pain as the water tinted red and carried away the signs of injury. The quarters were quiet and calm, a stark contrast to the liveliness in the hall not often seen in the Little Palace.
The Little Palace tended to be quiet, but the Grand Palace was different. The Grand Palace. The winter home of the Lantsovs. Nikolai. Marriage.
The gentle tears came like a surprise, rolling down your face with grace. 'Fuck me' was all you could say as your head rested on your uninjured hand. You still felt exhausted and overwhelmed now even more so but you liked to think you hid it well. What good was a Deputy in emotional turmoil at a party full of political vultures?
The door to the small space suddenly opened and none other than Genya Saffin walked in with ease only she possessed. She looked at you in shame then fixed her attention on her shoes, not meeting your broken gaze.
'I take it you spoke with Tatiana?'
'Why didn't you tell General Kirigan?' You sniffed and wrapped your hand in a handkerchief, not bothering to wipe away the tears that you continued to cry.
'I felt it wasn't my place'
'Why?' Your voice cracked, slightly distracting you but the meaning to your question was obvious. Why me?
'She wished to squelch his bastardry rumors with your standing reputation.'
'Does he know?'
'She wrote him, but he has yet to respond.'
'Why not Vasily? Is it to make sure a Grisha never sits on the throne?'
She stayed quiet, toying with her sleeve. 'She says you have the air of a false Queen but the mind of a demon'
'Nothing new there' You laughed and straightened up, using the handkerchief on your hand to pat your face dry, diminishing any last sign of your weak moment away. 'Is Alina ready?' She looked at you with pure pity on her face, the compassion bursting on her face busting at its seams.
'Yes. Last I saw she was with the General.'
'Thank you Ms.Saffin'
***
You didn't mean to miss the demonstrations, but you took your time walking back to the main hall anyway. It was only when you saw the darkened room and searing light did you stop dead in your tracks at the door. Alina stood there on the podium, the image of a Saint. Her black and gold kefta shimmered in her light beautifully, illuminating her face and smile. She was glowing. Her powers had brought her not only luxurious life but good health, something everyone prays for. The black looked well on her too. It set her apart from the sea of bright keftas and gowns. In a Palace full of Grisha and powerful members of society, only Alina and Aleksander wore the black keftas, not even you wore it tonight and it made you feel surprisingly insecure.
He stood to her side, enthralled by her show of strength and skill. He was fascinated with her, it showed in his eyes and on his face but it definitely wasn't a facade. Even watching them from afar you could see that he looked at her as if she was his Sun, the only thing capable of lighting up his night sky.
You didn't know how to look at her. Everyone around you was worshipping her, whispering silent prayers to Sankta Alina: the Sun Saint, but you stayed frozen and still. You were never faithful to the Saints, they never listened to you, so what good would pledging your allegiance to Alina be if you knew Aleksander planned to extort her?
The whole room was kneeling now, heads bent down in symbols of submission yet you stood. No doubt you stuck out like a sore thumb, but a leader does not bow to anybody, not even the Saints. He momentarily turned his head to look at you but his eyes were far from the softness he gave Alina. They spoke more than his smooth words ever could yet this time the silent exchange did nothing to soothe your muddled head.
A tap on your shoulder caused you to break your burning gaze away from the summoners and to a guard instead.
'Deputy, we have 2 First-Army soldiers who claim to have found Morozova's Stag' The Stag. Just my luck.
'Tell the General, I have no business with the stag' You waved him off and returned your stare back to the room, scanning the crowd like a hawk when her eyes caught yours. Queen Tatiana was looking through to your soul, demolishing any confidence you could muster at that moment.
Marry my son.

To my moots: I did A THING. Wrote a lil something. A Nolpat imagine *gasps*
This is unfinished and I will only be updating this everytime Patty gets a point or better yet, score a goal!
Edited and rb'd because this has been updated!
(With added steam 🙈)
Summary: Surprise!
Nolan Patrick x whoever you wanna pair him with in your head
UNTITLED
They hadn't exchanged any kind of communication in three weeks. That kind of radio silence from both their ends wasn't normal. It has been a month since they saw each other last, they were both busy --- she with the endless demands and responsibilities of being the new executive assistant to the director of medical services while Nolan was training in preparation for the incoming season.
It amazes her how they were able to give each other attention in the past year and how they haven't given up on each other. It wasn't easy, it's daunting at times, at least for her.
For someone with such a demanding job and schedule, she truly couldn't figure out how she was able to give time to Nolan.
She didn't understand how someone like her was able to pique his interest or that he continued to give her attention, well, not until these past few weeks. She may be busy but during moments that she wasn't thinking about work, Nolan makes sudden, sometimes unwelcome appearances in her thoughts.
Unwelcome because she shouldn't be thinking about him. They're not... Argh! She sighed and put down the book she's trying so hard to understand in her lap. She's in an old cottage by the beach, alone for this long weekend, her first non work related trip after a long while since being appointed and she's alone. She should be relaxing, resting, eating sumptuous meals and reading this... Shit it was Nolan who gave her this book. Why did she pick this one to bring? She sighed again and tried for the nth time to relax in the couch she was perched on. She put her feet up in the arm rest and reached for the tea in the side table to drink but grimaced as its already cold.
As cold as the weather that wasnt apt for the place she was in. Beaches are made for warm, summery weather, not rain and cold drafts. She looked out the window and shook her head because it was still raining. The rain peltering the roof was loud and... what was that?
She heard something beside the raindrops. Footsteps. Rustling. Knocking? Was someone knocking?
But she wasn't expecting anyone.
Still, she stood up and headed for the kitchen which was near the parking area of the resort she was in. She clutched her chest when she saw another shadow beside the plants outside. Shit! A thief? But this was an exclusive resort!
She grabbed the fruit bowl in the counter and headed for the kitchen door. There was that sound again. Footsteps. And knocking.
She took a deep breath and raised the bowl above her head, ready to whack whoever was on the other side of that door. She unfastened the locks and opened the door.
"Fuck!", the 'intruder' called out and caught the bowl before it made contact with his face.
"Nolan?", she blinked.
The newcomer put down the bowl and raised the hood of his jacket. "Hi,"
"I thought you were a thief!"
Nolan looked at her with amusement. " I knocked but there was no answer."
"When was that? I didn't hear anything."
"Uh, five minutes ago?", he asked as he grabbed a clean towel out of the basket on the washing machine near the door. "May I?"
She exhaled loudly while moving away from the door so Nolan could dry his shoes in the mat and removed his jacket which was also wet.
"What are you doing here?" she asked. How did he even know she was here? Oh. Right. She remembered telling him about this weekend trip the last time they were together.
"I missed you," he said. "You didn't text or call."
"You never did, too," she pointed out.
"Hey, I called," he said with a bit of pain in his voice.
"When did you call?"
"Are you going to let me come in or do I have to defend myself by your kitchen door?"
2
"What's that for?", she asked having glanced at his backpack.
"Change of clothes. I've been in town for a few days, actually ", he replied honestly.
She gave him another quick look before going back to retrieve the cup of tea in the living room and brought it up in the kitchen to heat in the microwave. She felt his eyes on her while she set the timer.
"Chamomile?", Nolan asked just as he put down his already opened backpack in the kitchen counter and took out a clean pair of socks.
She didn't know whether to be irritated or happy that he remembered her preference. Normally, she'd appreciate it but now she felt cornered. Vulnerable. She came here to unwind, rest and think, -- to escape from all that's troubling her -- that included Nolan.
Yep, trouble. That's Nolan, alright. What else would you call the man who chose to entangle himself with someone like her? Even for a weekend, she wanted a break. She wanted him out of her head, her body and her bed.
"You still haven't answered why you're here," she took the mug out of the oven and set it on the counter. She caught the smirk on his face. "What?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Nolan took a step towards her and tenderly caressed her arm."Didn't you miss me?"
She looked up into his eyes to see a worry there she didn't normally see.
They've talked about their situation a handful of times before, where they're headed eventually. Together they've decided that its better if no one else knew whatever kind of relationship they were to have.
She can't remember exactly how that topic came about, but they wound up in bed together before defined lines were ever set.
This, whatever this was, has gone on for a year, a short time compared to others. She knew she shouldn't keep her hopes or expectations up, but sometimes, she gets tired of her feelings being hurt from a misunderstanding because nothing was solid or made public. Sometimes the feelings were his. Sometimes he acted jealous or frustrated because she behaved in a way that made him question the exclusivity they had agreed on a year ago.
"Not at all?" His low, lazy voice pulled her back from her thoughts.
She shook her head. "No."
He leaned into her some more, their closeness made her feel like she's drowning. "Liar."
Then his mouth met hers and she instinctively opened her mouth to allow his tongue to enter. He tasted sweet and salty like caramel popcorn. He satisfied every urge and each craving.
A whimper escaped her throat and he had her pushed against the counter with one hand in her hair as the other lifted her leg and grabbed her ass. He knew how to completely envelop her into a whirlwind of sex. It started out with a kiss as it always did.
And this kiss grew more fervent and she felt a familiar hardness push against her in just the right place. He made her feel sexy and desirable in a way that she revelled in. His kisses were addictive.
Its hard to reclaim her sanity everytime they ended up like this, like he drained whatever courage she had left. But before she could totally gave in, she held Nolan's arm firmly and pushed him away from her. He moaned a little as a protest but moved away and let her right herself.
The desire for her was evident in his eyes, in his jeans and she tried not to look but his scent, his kiss lingered. She was still dazed and her heart was beating wildly.
"What?" He asked as he touched the edge of his mouth.
"We can't continue this, Nolan", she insisted.
He shook his head. "We're not doing anything we haven't done bef----"
"No", she cut him off before he could finish his sentence. "This as in hiding. We thought it wont get this complicated given our work and who we are, we thought it'd be easy. None of this is easy, Nolan."
"Thank you for saying we, instead of you," he nodded as he answered. "Seriously. We both said this unofficial exclusive thing would be easy and a breeze and I'm glad you didn't pile the blame for your feelings just on me."
She looked at him carefully. Sometimes, his prankness still startled and overwhelmed her. She hoped and tried hard for its effect to not register on her face.
"Whoa," he said with one eyebrow raised when her gaze turned squinty. "Why are you looking at me like I just told you I'm getting married or something?"
"Let's end this, Nolan," she said in a faint voice, then grabbed the mug of tea again.
She felt him observing her eventhough her attention was on the tea she's drinking.
"You already said that four months ago."
"This time I meant it." She said in a voice lacking of conviction.

So I had piece commissioned of my MC, Hoshiko Higure, presenting as both female and male.
The artist is karoshin_arts on Instagram.
And to go along with the art is a little fic I wrote, mostly, about Hoshiko coming out to the boys.
This fic takes place after Belphie gets out of the attic and before the MC goes home for the first time.
Hoshiko's Coming Out
Hoshiko stood in front of their full length mirror in their bedroom, staring at their reflection.
They were dressed for school but instead of wearing the skirt, they had decided to wear uniform pants today. They were also wearing a binder underneath their dress shirt, effectively hiding their breasts. They tied the top half of their hair back before putting on their circle rim glasses.
They stared at themselves in the mirror once they were totally ready.
"Okay... you look good. You can do this. Everything is gonna be fine," they told themself, trying to psych themself up.
They nodded at themself in the mirror before walking out into the hallway.
Mammon was headed to Hoshiko's room as they were walking out.
"Hey Ho... shi..." Mammon stopped mid step and mid sentence and just stared at Hoshiko. He narrowed his eyes at them, seeming suspicious.
Hoshiko turned a bright red. "It's me! I swear! I'm just... wearing pants..."
"You're doing more than that..." Mammon told them as he finished walking over to them.
"Yeah, I just... sometimes I..." They couldn't look at Mammon. "I don't feel like a girl all the time... sometimes I feel like a boy..." They wrapped their arms around themselves.
"So what, you just wanna wear pants and not have boobs sometimes?"
They looked up at Mammon. "I mean, in not so many words, yeah."
Mammon pouted and crossed his arms over his chest. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Hoshiko sighed and looked down at the ground. "You don't wanna be my friend anymore, do you?"
"What? Quit your mopin'! I didn't say that!"
Hoshiko looked back up at him.
"I'm your first! You're s'posed to tell me everything, no secrets between us, remember?!" Mammon perched his hands on his hips.
Hoshiko teared up. "Oh, Mammon!" They threw their arms around him and cried into his chest.
"Hey! Don't do that..." he blushed and pushed them away gently. "You'll break your glasses." He offered them a handkerchief from his breast pocket.
Hoshiko nodded and took the handkerchief with a soft sniffle. They took off their glasses and wiped their eyes.
"C'mon, you gotta eat some breakfast before school."
They nodded and headed to the dining room with Mammon. "... Will you stay with me all day?"
Mammon looked at them. "Huh?"
"I... I'm actually afraid of being by myself, looking like this..."
"Oh... yeah, of course. You gotta know the Great Mammon will always protect ya!" He flashed them a brilliant smile.
Hoshiko smiled at him. "Thank you." They grabbed Mammon's hand.
Mammon blushed but squeezed their hand in return.
Everyone looked at them when they entered the dining hall.
"Hey! So today Hoshiko feels like a guy and we're gonna make her feel- well, him-"
Hoshiko nudged him.
He stopped talking and looked at Hoshiko.
"You can just use they/them," Hoshiko told him.
"Right!" He looked back at his brothers. "So we're gonna make them feel comfortable and if ya don't, I'll kill ya," he was actually the most serious Hoshiko had ever seen him.
Hoshiko squeezed his hand. "Calm down, it's not that serious."
He looked back at Hoshiko. "Yes it is. Your feelings are important."
Hoshiko smiled at him. "I appreciate you saying that."
"Mammon is right," Lucifer spoke before dabbing his mouth with a napkin.
Hoshiko and Mammon looked at him.
"Your feelings are important, Hoshiko. If there's anything you need or if anyone gives you any flak, you let me know," only Lucifer could say something so sweet, yet so venom filled.
Hoshiko nodded. "I will, thank you."
Lucifer nodded. "Of course."
"Have you always felt this way?" Satan asked Hoshiko.
Hoshiko looked at him. "Uh... it's hard to say. It's only been in the last like... 3 years that I had the terminology to describe how I feel."
"And what is the correct terminology?" Satan asked as he pulled out his DDD and opened up a note taking app.
"I'm genderfluid. Which means I don't fit into the typical binary model of gender. Even though I am biologically female, I don't always want to present myself as traditionally female."
"Conforming to gender norms when it comes to clothing is so boring," Asmo commented. "You should just do what makes you happy."
Hoshiko smiled at him. "I like that. Thank you."
Asmo smiled brightly at them. "Of course, love!"
"So wait..." Belphie started.
Everyone looked at him.
"This is new to everyone, not just me?"
Beel nodded. "This is the first I've heard of it."
"So, you've felt like this for at least 3 years?" Belphie asked Hoshiko.
Hoshiko blushed and nodded, understanding what Belphie was getting at.
"Why didn't you say something sooner?" Levi asked.
"I didn't feel comfortable showing y'all until now. Even getting ready this morning I was nervous as hell."
Levi only nodded.
"Okay, I think that's enough questions for now," Lucifer interjected. "It's time to get to school."
Hoshiko was actually grateful that Lucifer had stopped them from asking them questions, they could feel themself getting overwhelmed.
Hoshiko smiled slightly at Lucifer before getting up and clearing their plate from the table.
The brothers followed suit, then everyone left for RAD together.
True to his word, Mammon stayed next to Hoshiko all day, though they didn't really need any protecting as they had originally thought.
After school, at the student council meeting, Diavolo asked Hoshiko how their first day presenting as a male was.
"It went well! Most folks were more curious anything. Azazel asked if I actually did have magical abilities because of how I changed my appearance. I thought that was funny. And Solomon offered to teach me how to make potions to deepen my voice for when I want to present as a guy. And Mephistopheles said I was stunning no matter how I presented..."
Most of the brothers rolled their eyes, but Mammon let out a little growl.
Hoshiko smacked his arm. "He was just bein' nice."
"Uh huh..." he crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair.
Diavolo chuckled at their interaction. "Well I'm glad today went so well for you, Hoshiko."
Hoshiko grinned. "I was really surprised, I thought that maybe at least a couple folks would give me hard time, but no one did."
"Demons are not usually so concerned with presentations of gender like that," Barbatos informed them.
"Oh... well I wish I had known that sooner, I wouldn't have been freaking out as much about today."
"That's not true," Barbatos corrected them.
Hoshiko pouted. "I don't like it when you call me out like that."
Barbatos chuckled softly.
Diavolo grinned. "Well I'm glad that our residents didn't take advantage of Hoshiko being a human when they changed their appearance. This is good for the exchange program!"
"I concur," Lucifer interjected.
"Well that concludes today's meeting," Diavolo announced before standing up.
Everyone else stood up with him.
Diavolo left the table before anyone else moved.
Asmo ran over to Hoshiko. "Hoshiko! Do you want to go shopping? We can pick you out some more masculine looking clothes if you want."
Hoshiko grinned. "I'd like that."
"I'm goin' too," Mammon declared.
Asmo pouted. "Why do you have to go?"
"Hoshiko asked me to stay by their side all day, so that's what I'm gonna do!"
Hoshiko chuckled. "That was when I thought I was gonna get made fun of or even beat up. I know I'll be okay now, so you don't have to stay with me."
"Nope. You asked so I'm gonna stay with you all day. The Great Mammon doesn't break a promise."
"What?! Since when?!" Levi interjected. "You still haven't paid me back!"
"Yeah, you obviously just want to be next to Hoshiko," Asmo pointed out.
"What?! That ain't so!" Mammon protested as a blush appeared on his cheeks.
Hoshiko chuckled at them. "Come on, we can all go shopping. It's not that big of a deal."
Asmo sighed. "Alright, as long as you're happy." He smiled slightly.
"We'll all be happy, I'll treat you two to dinner afterwards," Hoshiko promised.
Asmo beamed. "Okay!"
The trio went out to go shopping and went out to dinner before returning home to the House of Lamentation.
Hoshiko walked in sporting a new lavender suit and purple dress shirt.
Asmo insisted on showing them off to everyone in the house.
Hoshiko got a little embarrassed when Asmo dragged them to Lucifer's study. "Asmo, he doesn't care..."
"That's not true! Lucifer!" Asmo called as they walked into the study.
Lucifer looked up at them from where he sat at his desk.
"Look at our handsome little exchange student!" He exclaimed as he spun them around, giving Lucifer the full view.
Hoshiko was blushing.
Lucifer chuckled. "You look nice, Hoshiko. Though it is apparent that Asmo picked out that suit."
"That doesn't sound like a compliment," Asmo said with a pout.
"I just think Hoshiko would look better in something darker."
"There's more colors besides black and red, Lucifer," Asmo informed him.
Hoshiko chuckled at their interaction.
Lucifer glanced at Hoshiko briefly. "Asmo, would you leave us? I'd like to speak to Hoshiko alone for a moment."
"Ooh, okay!" Asmo sang just before leaving the room.
Hoshiko felt their ears get hot. "Uh, am I in trouble?"
"No, not at all. Please, take a seat." He motioned to a chair right in front of his desk.
Hoshiko nodded and sat down, crossing their legs as they did so.
"I just wanted to ask how your day went."
"It went well, you were there in the meeting when I told Lord Diavolo how it went."
"I just wanted to verify that nothing has changed since then. Make sure my brothers haven't harassed you about it."
Hoshiko laughed. "No, it's been fine. I appreciate your concern though."
Lucifer smirked. "How has your stay in Devildom been, thus far?"
"Aside from nearly dying like four times, it's been great!" Hoshiko teased.
Lucifer pursed his lips. "Right..."
"I'm only kidding with you. I've actually had a good time and I've learned a lot... it's kinda sad to think about how I'll be leaving in just a couple months."
Lucifer smiled slightly. "I'm glad you think of it that way."
"It certainly helped that all my housemates were hot too," Hoshiko told him with a wink.
Lucifer couldn't help the blush that rose to his cheeks. "Hoshiko," he chided.
Hoshiko snickered. "I'm just teasing you. That's a good thing. It means I'm comfortable with you now."
Lucifer hummed. "Should you be?"
"Is there a reason I shouldn't be?" Hoshiko asked with a sly smile.
Lucifer stared them down, frustrated at his inability to give them an answer. "... Regardless, we've been happy to host you. I'm glad you were chosen for the program."
Hoshiko rolled their eyes. "Are you going to continue to be this formal until I leave?"
"Perhaps," Lucifer replied simply.
"Uh huh." Hoshiko stood up and straightened their suit jacket. "Well I will be upfront with my feelings and tell you that I like you and all your brothers and I'm really enjoying my time here... I hope we can all still be good friends after I leave."
Lucifer watched them and smiled slightly. "I think my brothers will be lost without you here."
"I think I'll be lost without all their crazy antics keeping me busy," Hoshiko laughed.
Lucifer chuckled.
"Hoshiko!" Asmo squealed as they ran into the room and went to hide behind Hoshiko.
"Speaking of crazy antics," Hoshiko said to Lucifer before looking at Asmo. "What is-?"
Hoshiko jumped at being suddenly sprayed in the back of the head with water. They whipped around to see Mammon standing in the doorway with a water gun.
"Oh you're gonna get it now!" Hoshiko told him with a grin.
"Good luck catching me!" Mammon told them before running away.
Hoshiko quickly ran after him.
Asmo ran after the two, not wanting to miss out on the fun.
Lucifer shook his head with a soft smile on his face. He knew the "crazy antics" would never stop, but he was grateful for a particular human that had caused them to become less deadly.

Burnt Out
Bitches... (1, I love you all very much. 2, .... read 1) it's time for some angst...
And the start of me making poly relationship things-
Request away lol (I'm working on a request and small project chapters :) )
Warnings: Toxic Relationship, mentions scars, burns, Manga spoilers, swearing, emotionally abusive behavior, mentally abusive behavior, gaslighting(?) Let me know if I missed any!
You giggled as both men chased after you through the halls of the hotel. "(Y/N), you're wearing socks! You're going to- shit!" Niragi yelled after you, cursing when he saw you fall. You slipped down the stairs. You landed with a thud at the bottom. Tears filled your eyes at the pain, but you swallowed them back, standing up. You yelped, falling back to the floor. Chishiya stared down at you, kneeling besides you, squeezing your leg. "Ow! Shi-Shi, hurts," you whined, slapping his hand away. He glared up at you. "Maybe don't be stupid next time. I'm just trying to help you," he scoffed, going back to trying to find out what was wrong. "You don't have to be so mean to he-" "Shut up. You're dumber than her, you're the whole reason this happened anyways." He felt people stare, and stopped. "Take her back up to our room. I'll figure out what's wrong there," Chishiya stated, getting up, and walking away. You expected Niragi to yell after him, or repremand him for something, but we're met by silence. "Gi-Gi, you ok?" You whispered as he picked you up softly. He pressed a quick kiss to your forehead nodding.
"Niragi... this isn't the way back to our room," you said, noticing he was taking you the opposite way. "Clever girl," he praised with a smile. You laughed at his words. "I'm taking you to Ann. She has more equipment to help you. I'll get Chishiya after I take you to her though," he explained. You nodded.
_______________________________________
"And then it was like bam, then woosh, and like... wow!!" You exclaimed, trying to find the words to explain your game. Niragi laughed, patting the top of your head. "Sounds fun sweetheart. Tell me all about it after I take a shower," he said. You nodded with a smile, sitting on the edge of your bed. Chishiya had been on the bed, listening to your rambling. "Chishiya, I think it was really cool how you tried to-" you started. "Gods you're loud. Quiet down. And I know. I'm clever, after all. Neither of you would be here without me. Probably dead," he lectured. "But Chishiya, Niragi and I survived without you before we came to the Beach, remember? We were t-" you started, confused at his words. "I get it, he's your favorite out of us both! You make it so fucking obvious. I bet the only reason you wanted both of us is because you're an attention whore who needs multiple men to use her to feel good about herself. Shut up and let me sleep," he shouted. Tears filled your eyes as he turned away from you. Had you really shown favoritism? You didn't try to, if you had. You always made sure you tried to do things with both. Was he feeling left out? Is that why he was being a jerk?
Those were all thoughts running through your mind, not knowing that you weren't the problem. You had spent equal time with both, giving them equal attention. Chishiya just never wanted you around him.
_______________________________________
"(Y/N), come with me. Now," Chishiya ordered. Ten of Hearts. That was tonight's game. And you were terrified. He had pulled you away before anything got to out of hand. You thought that maybe he was trying to be nice. Maybe he had finally come around? Had you given him enough attention? "W-where's Niragi?" You asked, jogging to catch up with him. "Don't worry about him let's go."
You followed him around the whole time, watching as his hands quickly grabbed items. ''What are you making?" You asked, hoping he didn't snap at you. You feared his response. "Something to beat the game with. If you can't bring the witch to the fire, bring the fire to the witch," he said. You sighed in relief. He didn't yell at you, and you were happy about it. "Ok... so... you know who the witch is?" You questioned. "I have a hunch. Now stop asking questions," he stated. "So annoying..." you heard him mutter. You frowned, keeping your lips shut.
Following him up the stairs, you kept to yourself. You knew he wouldn't care about your thoughts. He might yell at you, or call you annoying. You didn't want to make him angry... He was just trying to protect you, right?
"Niragi!" You shouted happily, seeing he was at the rooftop. He wasn't dead. He looked over at you with a smirk. "Ah, so he did keep you safe. Where were you hiding?" He asked, picking up his gun from the floor. "There's many places for me to hide," Chishiya responded. You tried walking towards Niragi, but Chishiya grabbed your sleeve. You tugged at his hand, trying to get away. "Let me go," you said, struggling against him. "No."
The next few minutes went in a blur. All you remember was Chishiya and Niragi arguing a bit back and forth. You were so overwhelmed already, the game getting to you, and now your lovers were fighting. Cards flying, fire, screaming. You couldn't tell if it was your own scream or Niragi's, but it didn't matter.
"C-chishiya what the hell?! W-what?!" You yelled, shaking, stepping back from him. "Hmm... guess he wasn't the witch then,'' he stated, dropping the homemade flamethrower to the ground. He started picking up the cards on the floor. You however tried taking deep breaths, trying to calm yourself. You couldn't. Tears slipped off your face, hands scratching you your arms. You couldn't scream, couldn't talk, couldn't move. It was like you were living in a nightmare.
_______________________________________
There was more instances, of course, but you were so done with everything. Niragi was still alive, to your relief. After all that, he was alive. And that's all that mattered to you. Chishiya had been with you, and still was. Understandably, you were scared of him. Niragi was angry at him, but couldn't do anything about it.
"Look, just tell me I'm right, and we're fine," Chishiya stated bored of the conversation. Both you and Niragi were so tired of this. The constant fighting, gaslighting, and hateful words. Chishiya was just too prideful to admit he was wrong.
It was a relationship between you three. You and Niragi shouldn't be putting in all the work, while he didn't try. At the begin he had. He had tried to be a part of the relationship, giving you both kisses and hugs. Random bouts of energy at 3 am to go to a random room. It had all started slowly going down hill. He pushed you both away, but didn't want to leave. He never left, giving you hope that maybe he really loved you both, and just didn't know how to express it. He had told you about his parents, and you just always tried to excuse his behavior as his trauma, but it just got to a point where you couldn't anymore.
"You're right," you started. You saw him smirk, and continued. "We couldn't fix you," you said. Suddenly he wasn't so sure of where this was going. "You're right, we shouldn't have tried to. Your pride is what you're concerned about?" Niragi said. He was tired of dealing with this as well. All he wanted was to find someone who actually cared about him, and who showed it. He didn't want to be with someone who made him feel alone. You didn't make him feel alone... "I'm still right, he wo-" Chishiya started, getting ready to argue back and forth with you two until you finally gave into him. But that wasn't going to happen today.
"Is "you're right" really all you wanna hear right now?" You whimpered, sitting on your knees next to Niragi.
"Well, you're right, we should've walked away faster... should've know You would only break our hearts after we were already in love," You whispered. You were all hurt. Niragi had severe burns, and bullet wounds, Chishiya had bullet wounds as well. You had burns on your arms and legs, cuts and bruises adorned your (s/c) skin. Most of which Chishiya had caused when he put you in danger at games for his own gain. Or when he needed to test one of the weapons he made, you were his test subject. "Yeah, I guess I'm just not good enough for either of you then. All you two do is act scared of me like I'm the bad guy-"
"You're right, you aren't good enough," Niragi stated angrily, caughing up blood after. He winced in pain at the sudden movement. You felt tears fill your eyes, and shook them away. ''I kissed your scars even after you hurt me, and he held your hand, even when you fucking burned him-" you shouted angrily. "Do you know how embarrassing that was?" Niragi whispered, his voice hoarse and raspy.
"Oh, because it's all my fault?"
"Yeah! That's exactly what we're saying! When was the last time you actually tried acting like you liked us?"
''She's right. You agreed to be with us. This is just fucking embarrassing to be with somebody who hates us, and doesn't even try to hide it."
"I don't hate you two I-"
"Liar."
"We hoped things got better, we hoped that love could turn a monster into a man," you stated, getting angrier by him trying to defend himself. "But it doesn't and it won't
Because you're beyond repair
But there is still someone for her somewhere, who will treat her so nice, you'll wish that you did-" Niragi retorted to his words. He didn't hate you both? He sure did a horrible job at showing it. Niragi knew he would die with his injuries. You would live. You could find someone who would treat you better than either of them could. "For someone so smart you're so fucking stupid to think that we're really that dumb..." you interrupted Niragi. He was losing energy, and anytime he coughed you could tell it was so painful to him. "We love you, but we're done... Pretending this was gonna work... Pretending loving you didn't hurt... Pretending that it doesn't burn when you think you're always right..." Niragi ended. Those words were hard for him to say, and hard for you to realize. You three had just been pretending this was going to work after Chishiya started pushing you two away. You two tried so hard to stay with him, and tried so hard to fit all three of you together, that you didn't realize how much staying fucking hurt.
" 'Cause you're still stuck on your past...You hate him so much but you're just like your dad!!" You screamed, shouting the first thing that came to mind. It hurt him. That was a first. The first time someone's words hurt him. And you, (Y/N), his sweet (Y/N), said them. You could see the shock written all over his face when you said them, and it made you feel a bit bad. Niragi was secretly proud of you, but focused on the situation at hand. Tears feel from your eyes, and you cursed yourself. "(Y/N), I- I'm- I can't... I-" Chishiya stammered. For once, he was at a loss for words. You and Niragi had made him happy. He didn't feel alone with you two, and that scared him. So he tried to push you both away, scared of hurting either of you, but I'm the end, he hurt you more than he meant to. He tried, he really tried at the beginning, the feeling of being together with you two bringing him the feeling of love, understanding, and happiness he'd never felt. But he ruined that. He hurt himself in this instance, he hurt the people he loved, making them scared of him. He realized you were right. He was turning out to be just like his father. He didn't want that. He wanted to wake up, this was surely a nightmare. He would wake up and you would be squished in between him and Niragi. You would be playing with his hair, talking about your dream. You wouldn't be scared of him, and you would all be back at the beach. Like the 10 of hearts never happened. But he knew that was wishful thinking. This was real, and this was happening. Everything he used to laugh about people worrying about was happening to him right now. This was his karma. It had finally caught up to him.
"And I know, that you tried...Gave it all that you had," you whispered through tears. No. He couldn't let the one thing that made him happy slip through his fingers. But... he had to let you go. You wanted to leave. Niragi wanted to leave. It would be cruel to both of you to make you stay. So he stayed quiet. Did you really think he tried? That made him feel a tiny bit better. You thought he tried. That he tried to make things work. "And being a monster doesn't necessarily make you bad..." Niragi added quietly. He was a monster. The words he had said to not only you, but Niragi could back that up. Not just his words either. His actions. He was a horrible person to both of you. Why did he expect both of you to stay with him, when neither of you had anymore energy to put into the relationship.
"But...even if we could staple it back together now... we all know that you can't light a fire that's already burnt out," Chishiya whispered. You both looked up, shocked he was agreeing with you. Was he crying? Neither you nor Niragi had ever seen him cry. Niragi chuckled a bit, not at the fact that Chishiya was crying, but at the fact that this was what it took for him to care. "Fuck... it hurts," Chishiya muttered with a laugh. "My injuries hurt less than losing both of you... fuck... I-"
He was interrupted by a voice. The games were over. "Oh my gods... we can go home! I reject citizenship in the borderlands," you said. "Same. I don't want to stay here. Fuck that," Niragi stated. "I also reject citezenship of the borderlands. This is like a personal hell..." Chishiya muttered. A bright light obstructed your vision.
You walked on crutches into their hospital room with a smile. " 'M back!" You chirped. You had all been in an accident, as a lot of people that were currently in the hospital were. You didn't know why, but the seemed so familiar. You liked being around them, and constantly visited them. "Ah, finally a pleasant noise to hear," the blonde man complemented. You could hear the teasing tone directed towards the other man in the room. "I can't really help it can I? So... shaddup..." the other muttered. "My nurse told me... that my heart stopped... for a minute," you mentioned, sitting in a chair in between their beds careful to not hurt your legs more. They had burns and scars, nothing tho serious. "What a coincidence. Us too," Chishiya said. You nodded, humming in acknowledgement. "I um... I also... get released tomorrow..." you said sadly. "That's great (Y/N). You can head back to your home," Niragi said. You shook your head. "I wanna stay. I don't know why, but you two seem familiar to me. And... I want to know why... it feels like...I don't know how to explain it..." you stated. "I... I've felt that as well," Chishiya admitted. "Ok, good I'm not crazy then," Niragi joked, coughing slightly after. "Well... how about I come visit everyday until you both get released... then we can figure out why? Or get to know each other more? It feels like... I've loved you in a past life kinda thing. Silly of me to say, huh?" You giggled. "I think... we'd both enjoy that... and it's not silly, in fact, we've both been talking about it, and that's how we feel. About you, and each other. It's quite weird, I've never met either of you in my life. You're both rather attractive though," Chishiya said. Niragi snickered and you looked over at Chishiya, who's eats had turned red.
"I said that outloud, didn't I?"
"Yep."
"It's a good thing I find both of you attractive too, blondie."
"Hey, I think you're both cute too! Lemme join in on this!"
"Of course. Join in on it (Y/N)."
I couldn't let you guys be sad, I'm sorry-
Also, I'm going on a trip to Arizona this week, so there will probably not be many (or any) updates. Sorry, but I do hope you enjoy this!

Chapter One: Hard Times Ahead.
You love each other,
you do,
and here's the tragedy:
it's not enough.
(J.P.)
"Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me. Be still, they say. Watch and listen. You are the result of the love of thousands."
-Linda Hogan
It all came down to one thing:
Mel had to leave her old life behind.
It'd been nine days since she got home, her mother said she'd arranged everything so they could leave on Friday. She decided to delay her packing once more, and instead, she kneeled and pulled out a box from under the bed. Mel hesitated before opening it, this was the box where she'd kept most of her memories from the last six years and she didn't know if she was ready to go through them.
Someone knocked on her door, Harry's face peered through and he walked in, her brother was holding onto the boy's hand. "D'you need help?"
"Why don't we go outside for a moment?" She stood up, still holding the box in her hands tightly. "I'm a bit overwhelmed..."
Harry nodded silently, looking around the room one last time.
"I've been here before," He mumbled thoughtfully, "Not much has changed... but I feel as if this is the first time I see your room."
Mel looked around, she felt it too. Humans did that with things often, they would take them for granted until they had to let go, only then they cared. Only then she realized how much she'd loved this house.
The girl guided them outside, her mother was in the drawing-room writing a letter to Remus and Tonks, who would take her and Reggie for as long as they had to, hiding them away while Mel was on her mission.
The little boy quickly let go of her friend's hand and ran towards the small swing, Mel and Harry stood there and watched.
"What's in the box?"
She looked down and shrugged. "This is where I put my pictures after I take them, some other stuff too— haven't seen 'em in years."
"You want to look?"
"I could use some happy memories while we're away," She sighed. "I asked my mum to take the rest with her, but maybe I should go through them first, see if there's anything I might want to throw away..."
Mel sat next to the old swing, the boy taking the place beside her. She opened the box: The pictures at the top had been taken during the last Gryffindor party she'd attended, and they were the first kick on the face of the evening. Most of them had Erick and she hadn't heard from him in days, she had the feeling she would never hear from him again.
After those, she found photos from her fifteenth birthday: Her mother, Remus and Sirius were laughing...
"I can't do it," She pushed the box away and blinked back the tears. "I'm not ready."
"For what?"
"To let go," She shook her head. "I know I should've done it by now but... I can't— I can't accept that I won't be a kid anymore..."
"We haven't been kids for a long time, Mel," He replied calmly. "Look at this..."
He grabbed a picture laying at the very bottom: Ron had taken that picture, they were in the leaky cauldron and she could see the twins in the background, Hermione's hand was on the right corner trying to seize a newspaper. They must've been thirteen years old.
"We were really small... we used to sit on the same armchair back in the common room, remember?" He grinned. "We stopped doing that in our fifth year, of course..."
"So titchy..." Mel sniffed, hastily cleaning her face. "I used to love that sweater so much..."
"Dudley's clothes always made me look shorter," He grimaced, examining the picture further.
"That's what happens when you use clothes that aren't your size," She looked up at him adoringly. "Look at you now, though... I like the shirt you're wearing."
"You gave it to me," He laughed.
"I have great taste."
Another picture caught her attention and she picked it up:
July 1994.
"This one's from our party! Look at the size of those cakes!"
"This one's from the year after that— First time I wasn't there to celebrate your birthday..."
"Yeah well, that year had loads of first times without one another," She said calmly.
Harry put the picture back in its place and looked at her. "It was the right thing to do at the time... I think so, at least. I wasn't well."
"Me neither. Even then we couldn't stop copying each other, huh?" She closed the box and pushed it away carefully. "I'm sorry, I really need more time before I look through the rest..."
"That's okay," He averted his gaze towards Regulus. "Why d'you think he hasn't spoken yet?"
"He says things, we just don't understand him," Mel shrugged. "He's quiet most of the time..."
"That's unexpected, considering whose son he is," The boy looked down at his watch. "I have to feed Hedwig. See you at dinner?"
"Yeah," She made sure her brother was safe before walking Harry to the garden gate.
Their houses were both surrounded by protection spells, her friend was free to walk from her house to his without any inconvenience, but that was the only liberty they both had at Privet Drive, they weren't allowed to step out the boundaries.
She waited until Harry circled the division between the houses and stopped in front of her, Mel supported her forearms on the fence and smiled: Ten years ago she'd stood there needing a stool to look over, now she was standing firmly on the ground with the boards barely reaching her chest.
"You'll be taking your mother to Lupin's house next Friday, right?"
"Then I'll come back and we'll leave this place for good."
"Brilliant," He placed one hand on hers. "We got here at the same time, feels right to leave it together."
"Together," Mel agreed. "I think it's the best way to say goodbye to this place."
Harry's eyes briefly glanced at her lips, then quickly returned to her gaze.
"You're sure you still want to be my friend?"
"Glasses, I doubt anyone would be interested in taking my place..."
"That's a good point," Harry smiled. "But I didn't mean it like that."
"Oh."
Harry looked down at her lips again, his voice got stuck, he didn't know how to say what he'd been trying to for weeks.
"Well... I'll see you around," Mel gave him an awkward smile, she started to walk away from the fence.
Harry wanted to walk away too, but with each step she took her words would resonate in his mind with unbearable clarity:
Do you have feelings for me?
Mel couldn't accept it was over, and neither could he.
Anything else you'd like to say?
"Wait!" He called. "Don't leave!"
He jumped over the fence, his foot got stuck and Harry fell head-first on the bushes.
"Harry!" Mel rushed back and kneeled beside him, helping him out of the mess. "Are you alright?"
The boy was covered in leaves and dirt, he groaned, his heroic moment had been ruined.
"I think I was a bit unfair to you the first time we spoke... jumping over fences is hard."
Mel tried to hide her smile. "You know, I wasn't trying to jump— I was spying on you and I fell."
"I know," Harry looked at her. "I love you."
The girl's smile vanished, she tried to say something but he wasn't done talking.
"Us being friends," He continued, "we should probably leave it like that before one of us gets hurt but... I tried to like Ginny the way I like you— I care for her a lot, but there's a fat chance I'll die while looking for Horcruxes, and every time I think of who I'd like to spend my last days with, all I keep seeing is you."
"I..." Mel shook her head. "I don't know what to say..."
"Here's an idea," Harry responded heatedly. "Tell everyone that I was the one who nagged you about getting back together, I stopped eating until you said yes— I spiked your tea with amortentia— tell them you knew this was a bad idea but I'm the most stubborn bloke you've ever met. I can take it. I love you."
It only took one confession for her to disregard all her plans, she was too in love with him to be reasonable. They were exhausted, they didn't want to spend more time apart, no matter what, in the end it was always just the two of them.
It dawned on her brutally and all at once: Harry loved her.
She cupped his face with both hands and pulled him in for a kiss, Harry wrapped his arms around her and he didn't let go. Mel let out a muffled giggle and he reached up blindly to dry her tears. It had been a long path, hard and eventful, but it was worth it.
"Mel?" Harry mumbled against her lips.
"Hmm?"
"Reg's eating grass."
Harry shared every meal with the Sultens for the rest of the week, he couldn't remember ever feeling as light as now. He knew that eventually that quiet, blissful time would come to an end, his hunt for Horcruxes was getting nearer. He was holding onto the last scraps of happy and peaceful hours with his family.
They didn't need to make it official, they were together because they wanted to and that was it. Their future was uncertain, all they wanted was to share as much time as they could.
Suddenly they were fourteen again: stealing glances and placing quick kisses on each other's lips whenever they thought they were alone. His hand would always find hers, and it was getting increasingly difficult to let go as Friday approached. They wouldn't spend that much time apart, merely a week, but a lot could happen during it, or even one night.
Their last night in Privet Drive, when Mel went away for a moment to put her brother in bed, Emily took her chance and started asking questions.
"So," She put the plates back in a box. "You're my daughter's new boyfriend."
Harry dropped the cup he was holding, Emily quickly repaired it with a flick of her wand.
"What?" He squeaked.
"Or is it a friends-with-benefits type of thing?" She suggested. "You look too smitten for that, though."
The boy stared at her, really studied her... Emily had aged overnight.
That wasn't true, but in his mind she'd always been that woman in her late twenties with contagious energy and charming laughter. Now that image was slowly vanishing: Her eyes were a bit wearier, her smile a bit dimmer.
Harry always thought she'd be one of those ladies that befriends strangers on the street, but life hadn't been fair to her, it hadn't been fair to any of them... At least they had each other. He'd met her while still young, she'd looked after him and Mel, they were her children.
"Did she tell you?" He asked, thinking he had no reason to feel ashamed.
"The day Mel lets me know when she breaks up with a boy and gets with another, hell will freeze," Emily chortled. "I saw you kissing. You're not that careful, you know?"
A smile formed on his face. "You want the whole story or just the relevant bits?"
"Well, I could use a cup of tea," The woman smirked. "I want every detail."
When Mel came back, Harry and her mother were talking in the drawing-room. There was a platter with two cups of tea and some biscuits placed between them; her boyfriend was in the middle of what seemed to be a funny anecdote, she leaned against the doorframe and looked at the scene, she was going to miss this.
"There she is!" Her mother had a strange glint in her eye. "Care to join us? Harry's telling me all about your absurdly complicated love story."
Mel's heart did a somersault. "What?"
"Apparently there was a French boy, the Daily Prophet didn't lie," Emily taunted. "And he's your ex-boyfriend's cousin? No wonder why you never want to talk about these things!"
"Nothing happened with Joseph!" Mel blurted out. "He was too old for me!"
"Fred was older than you," Harry replied.
"We never really dated—" She stopped. "Oh, I guess I should tell you... it wasn't a real relationship at all."
He frowned, his smile faltered. "What?"
"Ohhh!" Emily wriggled excitedly in her place. "There's more to the story? That's excellent! Tell us all about it!"
"Mum!" She complained. "That's my business!"
"I gave you the life you're using to make such business," The woman raised a brow. "C'mon, I'm a mother, I live for my children's drama!"
Mel sighed, a silly little smile playing on her lips as she stepped into the room and sat next to Harry. She'd liked the way her mother had referred to Harry as part of their family. He was.
"Where do I start?"
"You know, I just remembered something," Emily smiled. "Matthew asked to tell you that you had his blessing in case you wanted to date Mel."
Harry laughed at this, Mel frowned.
"I thought my dad didn't want me to date him?"
"How would you know that?" He asked.
"He bet ten galleons against it!" She explained. "Uncle Moony told me he was on his side!"
"Really?" Harry asked. "When we were babies?"
"I can't wait to get those ten galleons from Moony! He tried to take them when you were dating Fred but Sirius refused, said: 'I won't cough up until Mel's at the altar.' He was dramatic like that."
"Shouldn't you wait and see if we marry, then?" Mel teased.
"After the story you just told me? I think I can consider it done!" The woman laughed. "You don't have to do it though, I know you're not a fan of babies, a husband and all that..."
"I never said that," She replied promptly. "Well, it doesn't matter, I'm too young to be thinking about that anyway..."
Harry thought that he'd like to have a family with Mel, yet he didn't say it. Their future was limited to the next week, next month if they were lucky.
"I should go home," He sighed. "It's getting late and you have to wake up early tomorrow..."
"Right," Mel stood up and waited for him to do the same. "We'll see each other soon, though."
"I know."
They walked towards the entrance, Emily took him away to have a private talk.
"Matthew also wanted," She held his face with affection, "for Mel to find someone who would love her as much as he loved me. The way you look at each other... You're lucky to have it, don't forget that."
Harry hugged her. He hoped Emily could feel all he wanted to say; that he was thankful to have them, that he thought of her as a mother, that Mel was amazing and surely Reg would be just the same.
"Be brave, alright?" Emily begged him once they broke the hug.
Harry nodded without speaking, he feared his voice would expose all he wanted to keep to himself. Mel was waiting for him with a nervous smile, she opened her mouth but nothing came. Harry kissed her forehead with featherlike touch.
"Come back."
She nodded, taking a deep breath so her voice wouldn't tremble.
"Always."
Mel woke up earlier than expected.
She was too nervous to stay still, so she dressed up and grabbed her backpack along with her wand, deciding to just have an early breakfast and wait for her mother to wake up on her own. The protection over her house would be lifted at eight in the morning, she was about to leave her childhood home permanently.
"Grey!" The cat was walking between her legs. "I'm going to hurt you if you don't move out of the way!"
"Funny," A voice said from the drawing-room. "I was about to say that."
Mel immediately pointed her wand towards the sound, but she froze at the sight of the young man holding her brother.
"How did you enter?" She asked in surprise. "And what the hell are you doing?"
"I'm visiting," Erick pulled back the hood of his travelling cloak, he smiled tensely. "I thought you'd be happy to see me."
Mel lowered her wand. "How d'you get in?"
"I apparated."
"That's impossible, the house is under every kind of protection—"
Someone pressed the tip of their wand against her upper back, interrupting her speech.
"Hello, nutter," A man growled. "We meet again."
"Right," Erick continued with a stiff voice. "Forgot to mention I brought friends..."
"Remember me, you little brat?" The man followed the scars on her neck with one finger. "Draco Malfoy will love to know I slit your throat for good..."
"Step away from my daughter," Emily spoke from the top of the stairs, "and get out of my house."
"Emily Sultens," A third man walked out of the drawing-room and stood next to Erick. Rabastan Lestrange. "Bella will be happy to hear from you."
Mel stood there wondering if she was dreaming, there was no way Erick had joined the Death Eaters. There was no way he was one of them...
"I'll count to five," Emily growled, pointing her wand at Rabastan. "You're going to let go of my kids, and you'll leave this house before I kill you."
Erick's body was so tense he almost looked petrified.
"You don't have the nerve," He said.
"One..."
"What do you think, Antonin?" Lestrange tilted his head. "Should we kill the bastard first?"
"Five."
Dolohov was pushed back by Emily's hex, Lestrange ducked just in time to avoid Mel's.
Spells bounced back and forth, Erick quickly put a shield between him and the rest, no hexes or curses could get to him or the baby.
"Well, it was a nice reunion!" He yelled. "You don't mind if I take Leon with me, right? I believe Greyback and Bellatrix are eager to meet him..."
"NO!" Mel flickered her wand and Dolohov flew up against the ceiling.
"You rat!" Dolohov shouted. "Avada—"
Mel snapped her fingers and ropes quickly circled the man's body, a gag was keeping him from shouting more curses. He fell a mere foot away from Erick, the young wizard was cornered right against a bookshelf, fighting to keep the shield up.
"Make a Portkey!" Her mother yelled at her.
The girl looked at the battered lamp on the coffee table and pointed: A blueish flash illuminated it for a brief second, she grabbed it and turned to Erick.
"You're smarter than this," She frowned. "What are you doing?"
Erick let out a forced laugh. "I got tired of taking orders from nutters like you and your Great-uncle," He replied, dropping the shield only to yell: "Relashio!"
Dolohov was quickly released and Mel unarmed him right away, the wand flew and she caught it, but the man tackled her to the ground and punched her on the face.
"Time's up!" Erick shouted, he sounded angry. "Just grab one and go!"
"Bombarda!"
The ground at Lestrange's feet exploded and he was thrown back, Emily rushed over to her daughter.
"Confringo!"
Dolohov's face abruptly covered in flames and Mel kicked him away from her body.
"Avada Kedavra!" Lestrange's curse hit the roof and it created a thick cloud of dust around them.
"I SAID LET'S GO!"
Erick turned, holding a crying Regulus in his arms, and disapparated. Dolohov let out a guttural screech and he ran to her mother, he surrounded her waist and clung onto her, disapparating on the spot.
"NO!"
Lestrange rounded the couch to grab her, Mel was abruptly pulled to the side and the next thing she knew was that the Portkey had dropped her right outside Remus's house.

---------------------------------
“Hey, Jan? I was just at the vet... it’s.... over....”
“Oh, honey, I’m so sorry... Are you going home now?”
sniffle “Yeah...”
“I’ll be right there.”
“Okay...”
Janus used the spare key he had to Patton’s apartment. “Patton, darling?” He called and closed the door behind him. He heard soft sobs greeting him from the living room. “Oh, baby...” He hurried to the living room and found his friend curled up on the sofa, clutching a small baby blue blanket to his chest. His face was puffed and red, and tears were streaming down his cheeks non stop.
“Patton, honey...” Janus clicked his tongue and quickly sat beside Patton, opening his arms for the other to snuggle in his embrace. The moment he was sat Patton clung to his torso and sobbed hard and loud, burying his face in Janus' chest and wetting his shirt with tears. Janus frowned, his brows furrowing in concern, and started rubbing slow circles on Patton back.
“I’m so sorry...” He whispered. “Shhhhhh.....” Janus started rocking gently back and forth, trying to sooth Patton’s ache.
They sat like that for a few minutes, holding each other. Janus took the opportunity to look around at the apartment. It was a really saddening look. Everywhere you looked there were cat themed objects. Never mind the cat stickers decorating the walls and the little kitty sculptures on the shelves, everything in this house screamed that there’s a feline resident in there.
A brown cat bed with a monkey plushie sitting in its corner.
Three carton boxes in different sizes were lined up opened against the wall.
A carton board on the floor beneath a blue bench that was much too small for a human. The board was covered in claw marks and teared a bit in the edges.
Toys were scattered everywhere on the floor. Mice, spikey balls, balls with little bells inside. There was one cat wand on the floor near the cat bed, a stick with a brown furry string and several colorful feathers tied to the end.
A blue cat tree was standing next to the sofa, a plaid blanket cushioned the lowest platform.
The armchair was covered in absurd amounts of cat fur, as if to say this was her spot, no one else's.
Janus lifted his gaze upwards. The walls weren't spared either. On two different walls there were blue cushioned shelves designed as stairs, going from the floor to a level above Janus' head as he stood in his full height, and Patton was shorter than him. On one step of the stairs sat a small tiger plushie.
As Patton's sobs slowly quieted down, the silence between the two was disturbed only by a small water fountain in the corner of the room, trickling steadily.
Patton didn’t want to let go of Janus. He felt like someone pulled the rug from under his feet, and Janus' firm hands were his only lifeline. He smelled nice, too, as much as Patton was able to smell with a stuffy nose from all the crying. Like the comfort and nostalgia of opening an old book with yellowing pages, with just a hint of cologne. He was warm, and it felt comforting to be held by him, like a comfort blanket. Patton was no longer crying, just inhaling Janus' scent softly to ground himself. Janus' fingers caressed the back of his head and Patton leaned into the touch.
Eventually Janus broke the silence.
"She's had a good life." He whispered into Patton's hair, and Patton felt the vibrations rumble in his chest.
Patton sighed heavily. "Yeah..." he mumbled. Sniffling once, he pulled himself away and wiped the remaining tears off his cheeks, the ones that weren't coating Janus' shirt. He looked down at the blanket he was holding.
"That's hers, right?" Janus asked.
"Yeah," said Patton, "I used it to get her into the cage, you know how she gets," he chuckled humorlessly. Janus gave him a sad smile. "She was also... wrapped in it when... when the vet... you know..."
"Yeah..." Janus rubbed his hand on Patton's arm comfortingly.
"You know, she's had a kidney failure two years ago, and the vet said that we're only prolonging the inevitable. Eventually it'll happen again and it'll be the end," Patton busied his hand with the hem of the blanket, "but I thought it'll be at least... five years, you know? Not two. Not that it wouldn't have been hard either way, but, still... It's just... so abrupt," he frowned, the tears threatening to overflow again.
"Well," Janus hesitated, "at least now you won't need the antihistamines anymore, right?" he tried for humor, and Patton's lips broke into a genuine smile and he laughed weakly through his nose.
"Right..." His smile slowly turned into a solemn expression and he sighed. "What if..." he bit his lower lip, "what if I could've stopped it?"
"Patton, no. It is not your fault."
"No, I know... The vet said it would've happened anyway... But what if I wasn't perceptive enough? Maybe if I'd noticed something's wrong sooner they could've saved her..." Tears began to accumulate in Patton's eyes.
"Sweetie, listen to me." Janus took both of Patton's hands in his and looked straight into his eyes. "It is not your fault. You were an amazing owner. You loved her so much and gave her everything she could've ever dreamed of."
"But I-"
"Shh shh shh, no buts," Janus used his thumb to gently wipe a stray tear off Patton's cheek, beneath his glasses. "I've known you since before you adopted her. I've seen how you took care of her with everything you have. Spending nights treating her when she was sick, doing everything in your power every day to make her take the medicine you knew she hated but made her feel better, staying awake late to pet her just because she didn't want to go to sleep and you couldn't bare to say no to her. Darling, trust me when I say, she was the luckiest cat in the world to have you as her owner."
Patton started sobbing again, furiously wiping his tears with his fingers, dirtying his wet glasses even more. Janus clicked his tongue. "Come here," he said as he pulled Patton to his embrace once again, placing a kiss on the crown of his head. "It's ok to grieve," he whispered, rocking them back and forth, "but don't beat yourself up about things out of your control." Patton sniffed, nodding weakly. Janus waited a bit before saying, "Let's bring you some water, ok honey?" Patton nodded again and pulled back. "I'll be right back." Janus said and petted Patton's cheek gently. He stood up and walked to the kitchen to get Patton a glass of water.
In the kitchen, Janus noticed a bowl of dry cat food in the corner. He debated getting rid of it and sparing Patton the pain, but decided against it. He'll ask Patton if he needs help with it, but he might want to do it himself to get some closure.
Janus returned to the living room with a glass of water in his hand. Patton looked up at him as he approached and small smile spread on his face. Janus' chest filled with warmth. He'll do anything for this man, he just wants him to be happy.
"Thank you," Patton said and reached his hand to grab the glass.
"You're welcome, honey," Janus replied as he took his place on the sofa.
They were silent for a moment as Patton drank. "You know," he said, lowering the glass to his lap and holding it with both hands. "I keep thinking about how naïve I was when I adopted her."
"Naïve? How so?"
"I thought it was funny, giving a cat a number as a name. You know, Nine, as in nine lives?" Janus looked at Patton, concern apparent on his forehead. Patton was looking down to his glass in his lap. "Of course there were other reasons too. It was September 2009 when I got her. The ninth month of the ninth year of the milenium. It was so fitting! Of course I couldn't give up the opportunity to give her a name that's a play on words!" Janus frowned and rubbed Patton's knee. "But cats don't really have nine lives, do they? Not even a cat named Nine..." He sighed.
Janus looked at him in silence. It was good that Patton was talking. Janus has spent years trying to make Patton to open up to him. He was always hiding behind jokes and a huge smile. He needed a safe platform to be able to unload everything weighing down on his chest. Janus was always happy to provide him that safe space, and the fact that Patton trusted him enough by now to open up to him was a bit overwhelming, in a good way. But it wasn't about Janus right now, it's about Patton and his pain. Janus knew Patton so well by now, that he didn't need to check to know that if he stayed silent, Patton would open up even more and unload more of his negative feelings, and Janus would be there for him when he does.
Surely enough, after a few moments of silence, Patton let out a breathy laugh, devoid of humor. "I keep thinking she's gonna come out from around the corner like everything's normal... You'd think dying is a one time thing. She died, that's it. It happened. Now we're after it. But it's not..." Patton emptied his glass and placed it on the table. "It's still happening. She didn't just die... She's dead. And she keeps being dead, all the time, over and over again. Every time I look to the hallway and expect her to walk out with her tail wiggling high, she's dead again. Every time I think of her... She's dead. Again. She's really... not coming back... She's staying dead." Patton played with the sleeve of the hoodie that was always tied around his shoulders. "Look at me," he chuckled, "I'm even wearing a cat hoodie. I'm pathetic..." He sighed.
"Patton honey," Janus wrapped his arms over Patton's shoulders and pulled him to rest against his chest, maneuvering himself to a more comfortable position, leaning back on the sofa. "You're not pathetic. Ok?" He stroked Patton's hair with his hand. "Those things take time. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you it'll all be gone one day and you won't feel anything. That's never going to happen." Patton pouted in response. "But it won't be as painful. It won't be an open wound anymore. It will scar." Patton's eyes widened and he looked up to Janus, letting his eyes rest on the scar tissue on the man's left cheek. "A scar is... a reminder of what once was. It's unpleasant to look at, and it's scruffy to touch, and remembering what left the scar is... painful, to say the least." Patton's brows furrowed in a frown. Janus smiled warmly at him. "But it doesn't hurt by itself anymore. You can live your life and not even remember it's there most of the time. At first it hurts and itches and every move you make has to be calculated because the wound is bleeding and everything hurts. But with a scar you don't have to do that anymore. You're going to be ok." Patton sighed and rested his cheek on Janus' chest. "And you know, I thought about what you said." Patton raised his eyebrows and hummed in question. "You weren't naïve. You were being funny, and witty, and wonderful, like you always are." Patton's cheeks warmed in a blush. "I know it might take a while, but I can already see you in a few months with your two new kitties, Seven and Five." Patton giggled and Janus smiled, kissing his hair.
It wasn't perfect. In fact, it was extremely painful, and the grieving process has just begun. But maybe Janus was right. It had a nice ring to it, Seven and Five. Nine's little siblings. Of course, she'll never know them, but it's nice imagining how his first cat's name becomes a legacy in all of his future cats. Patton sighed. It's not going to be easy. But with Janus by his side, maybe, just maybe, he can do it. He will be ok.

Warnings (prologue only): dom!exo x sub!reader, vague mentions of sex
Summary: having dated each of the exo members on and off, you somehow find yourself in a relationship with all nine of them...and their endless list of kinks.
"And this is your room."
You feel as though your mind is playing tricks on you - never in your life did you think you'd live somewhere so extravagant. You knew they were rich, but when you reach your final stop of the house tour you truly realise to what extent.
"This is for me?" You gasp, looking around the (mostly pink) room. It's huge; the bed is king sized, white sheets with pastel pink curtains hanging from the posts, stuffies surrounding the pillows. You have your own giant window with a seat just beside it, a variety of books and games on the shelf nearby. You're purely overwhelmed.
"There's a walk in closet too, baby, and we've already filled it with new clothes." Jongin smiles, "Are you excited?"
You nod, stepping forwards to hug him, "Thank you."
"It's nothing, baby, your first week here's going to be unforgettable."
-
By the time you get back downstairs, Kyungsoo has already made a variety of foods and unsurprisingly you find Baekhyun shoving as many cookies as he can into his pockets.
"Baekkie, what are you doing?" You giggle as he raises his eyebrows at you.
"Nothing, baby, I'm just-" He pauses to try and think of an answer,
You laugh at his slight panic and make your way over to him, quickly climbing into his arms as you and Jongin join the rest of the boys in the open plan dining room/kitchen.
"Do you like your room?" Baekhyun whispers, folding his arms around you more comfortably. He's warm, especially his lower stomach...ah right, the cookies.
"Yes." You snuggle into him,
"And what do you say?"
"Thank you, daddy."
"Good girl," He smiles, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.
Baekhyun was the only member you'd already had some sexual experience with and although he was all fun and games, you knew he really liked the name - especially since he was seen as less mature by the other members. He felt that with you he was fully in control, and the inner dominance was finally free to come out, even in day-to-day situations.
You look around the room, glancing at the group of men who've gathered, and you can't help but feel your face heat up. You've had experience of this type of relationship before, but never on this scale.
"Do you like your new home, Y/N?" Junmyeon asks, drawing all eyes to you.
You nod silently, hiding your face more in Baekhyun's chest.
"We just have to set out some ground rules, okay?" he continues.
Baekhyun's fingers begin to toy with your hair, a tingling feeling reverberating down your spine everytime the strands were touched.
"First of all, you're perfectly welcome to go into any of our bedrooms and the open areas such as the kitchen. But you cannot enter any of the other rooms, or leave the house, without permission from one of us." He sits himself down properly on the couch opposite you, "Secondly, if we tell you to do something, you do it. No questions asked. This is our house, not yours, and we won't tolerate any bad behaviour."
"If you do have a problem, just tell us." Yixing interrupts, "If you're worried about anything, or upset, just tell us. Okay, baby?"
You shake your head in confirmation.
"Lastly, you're not allowed to use any electronic devices or touch any of ours without permission. That includes television and phones." Junmyeon states, glancing down at you, "Now, would you mind giving me your phone?"
Reaching into your pocket you pull out your phone and quickly turn it off, handing it to Junmyeon. You pout slightly, "Why can't I have my phone?"
"Were you not listening?" he frowns disapprovingly, "What did I say rule number two was?"
"Do what you say. No question."
His eyes remain on you for a moment, awaiting your apology.
"Sorry." You say quietly, desperately wanting to disappear into Baekhyun's chest.
"It's okay, sweetheart, you'll probably take some time to adjust." He nods, vanishing from the room before you have a chance to blink.
Still wrapped in Baekhyun's arms, you blink up at him. He looks back down at you, fishing another cookie out of his pocket and beginning to share it with you.
"Don't eat too much, you two, the food will be ready in a minute." Kyungsoo calls,
"What does Junmyeon do?" You ask Baekhyun, aware that they've always avoided the question. You were so curious, especially after seeing how expensive the house was, as well as their designer clothes and luxuries. "What do you all do?"
"Well, we run our own business. It's a large and successful company." He explains, "We're pretty much self-employed."
"What for?" You fumble with the sleeve of his hoodie as you munch on some more cookie, "What do you sell?"
"It's not very easy to explain, princess." He sighs, glancing over at Chanyeol, one of the boys that have actually remained in the room.
"Hey, Y/N, did you know we have a pool?" the taller boy catches your attention and you look over at him, a smile forming on his face at how cute you look with full cheeks,
You nod, "Jongin showed me."
"Jongdae's planning on taking a dip this evening, you should join him." Chanyeol smiles softly, glancing towards the doorway where Kyungsoo is gesturing you all to come and eat. He steps forwards and places a soft kiss on your forehead before helping you out of Baekhyun's lap.
When you get to the table you're seated between Chanyeol and Minseok, both of them helping themselves to the plates of food in front of them. You eat a lot slower, and a lot less, with Chanyeol leaning over every now and then to give you some of his food.
"You know you don't need to be shy, right?" he murmurs to you, "We don't bite...well, some of us do but we'll save that for later."
He sends a wink your way before the others start cleaning up.
"Sweetheart, why don't you go upstairs and rest? I know it's been a long day and you could probably do with a nap." Junmyeon smiles softly, and somewhere in his voice you find the question to be more of an instruction.
You nod, moving quickly out of the room, slightly overwhelmed by the number of people bustling about.
"___!" You turn at the sound of Baekhyun's voice, giving him a chance to catch up to you, "I thought I'd join you."
You smile at him, "Okay, Baekkie."
When you get to your room, Baekhyun closes the door behind you, gesturing you to lie down. Upon shutting the curtains, he lies down beside you, breath tickling your neck. "Are you nervous?"
You nod.
"Would you like me to help you feel less stressed?" he asks, hand falling to your thigh,
You blink at him, unsure what your answer should be. "J-Junmyeon said I should rest."
"It is resting, baby, you'll sleep better after, I promise." his hand traces sideways, inbetween your thighs. The side of his hand gentles presses against your core.
"Baek-"
"Just relax, sweetheart."

How everything started...
If only everybody could see you
Through my eyes
We wouldn't have to worry and leave it all behind
I know it isn't easy but I think we need a brand new start
I'll hold your heart
It was not a good start, nor a bad one. It was not an impulsive moment, much less a thoughtful one.
Spinel spent a week with Steven on Earth, after the Crystal Gems received a message from the Diamonds. Something about a mission, and making peace (peace treaty) with other species. They couldn't take Spinel with them, so they decided that it was best for her to stay on Earth. With Steven. Protected. That was it. Nothing happened, and Spinel returned to Homeworld soon after. Nothing changed... Or so everyone believed.
It wasn't until in Little Homeworld a healed corrupted gem saw them holding hands, laughing and having a good time that things went downhill. They explained they were simply spending some time together, like any friends, but the crystal gems were still upset that the hybrid never told them anything about where he went and with whom. Pearl, specially, freaked out when she saw it was Spinel with whom he was spending time. He couldn't understand why.
Steven was with Connie (it was one of those days when Connie had free time for him), and the boy asked his best friend her opinion about Spinel.
"Steven... I don't think it's a good idea" she started carefully.
"What? Why?" the young hybrid asked without showing his anguish.
"Because she tried to kill you. You and the Crystal Gems" she pointed out "Look, I know you want to help her, but maybe you should let someone else do it" she explained softly.
"No, you don't understand" he shook his head "It's my responsibility. I have to help her. No one else can because... Because no one else can understand her. Only me. And she is not the only gem that tried to kill us, you know? At least she knew it was me, not Pink Diamond"
"She was… trapped, wasn't she? Then Lapis would be the most suitable. Also, she tried to kill you because of your mum" she countered.
"You see!? You don't understand either. Aghhh" he suddenly stood up, anxiety gnawing at his mind "She was abandoned, not trapped. She faithfully waited for my mom for thousands of years!"
"And how about Pearl?" the brunette tried.
Steven groaned, increasingly annoyed that no one could understand him. But that wasn't true, was it? Someone understood him. And that someone was Spinel.. Steven ran away, glowing pink.
"Steven...!" Connie called.
All of my friends and family
Keep saying you're no good
Now that I'm finally happy
Wish that they understood
They may be disapproving
But that ain't tearing us apart
I'll hold your heart
Spinel couldn't meet with Steven after that hasty goodbye. She could still hear the shouting. Such horrible words. She didn't like that one bit. He was her friend, their family. Why were they being so cruel to him? Why wouldn't they let her calm him down.
So what if they were having a good time?
So what if they wanted to be friends?
What difference did it make to them?
What rights did they have to spoil something that was just beginning to flourish?
All those questions were echoing over and over again in her mind, fueling her anger, her contempt for those gems. Towards everyone. But never to Steven. He needed her. And she needed him.
"Spinel, we know that you only wanted to see Steven. We do to. But, surely you understand that it is not right for you to leave without saying a word to us"
Oh, she knew that very well. But it was exactly for that reason that neither of them said anything. They wanted to test their friendship first, before rushing headfirst. They didn't want interference of any kind. It was their life after all.
It was not fair.
Where did everything went so wrong?
Exhausted every option
It's time to run away
Won't even pack a suitcase
I don't need anything
As long as you're besides me
I know that it'll be okay
We'll be okay
Weeks later, after sneaking away from Homeworld again, Spinel managed to speak to Steven, in his room, while everyone else was asleep (or in the case of the gems, in their own room)
"Are you sure?" he asked hesitantly. He was so nervous. What if the gems find out? They would be separated!
Spinel nodded enthusiastically. She had been planning it carefully. Today they were going to leave, they were going to their new home, a home of their own. Far from responsibilities. Away from people who only saw someone else in them. No more Pink Diamond. They were going to be free at last.
"Ok. I trust you. I hope everything works out. How are we going to get there?"
"With Little Homeworld's portal, of course. We will be caught immediately if we use yours. Although, we have to go undercover, just in case" She smirk, satisfied with her plan. She was not stupid, after all. Just a fool.
Steven shared her smile, feeling excited.
Cuz if it's us
Against the world we'll fight it
And win as long as we're united
"Steven?" Pearl called from the bottom of the stairs. Receiving no answer, she went upstairs, determined to wake Steven up. Upon opening the door, however, there was no one in there. Thinking that maybe he would be in the bathroom, she went downstairs again and headed for the other room. She knocked a couple of times. Nobody answered. The fear was taking over the pale gem. Steven was surely fine. These past few weeks he seemed fine, at least. But what if...?
"Steven?" she called again.
"Is he still in the bathroom?" Amethyst said, noticing the other gem in concern.
"I think so... But he would have already answered me" she scowled.
"Maybe he's drowned in the bathtub," joked the purple gem.
"Don't joke about it, Amethyst!"
"Seriously, what's wrong with taking a little more time in the bathroom? Besides, maybe he's still annoyed with us" she said seemingly exasperated.
"Annoyed? Why would he be annoyed with us?" the purple gem rolled her eyes, tired of the tallest blindness.
"Maybe because we are overwhelming? Overprotective? And by "we" I mean you, and maybe Garnet" she finished, with irritation. She really needed to let out everything she thought about this situation.
Take my hand and don't you let it go now
We'll find our way out when we are faced with danger
Steven and Spinel were in the garden. No one was around as expected, but still, they waited holding their breath and their hands. Nothing was happening. The portal didn't activate. They were alone. Together. They smiled widely. And laughed.
And eyes that stares at us in anger
Take my hand and don't you let it go now
"Garnet. Do you know where he...?" Pearl tried to ask the fusion. She was stopped.
"Not now"
"But Garnet!" she complained.
"I said not now. I don't know where he is. I can't even..." She let out a painful cry before a light appeared, separating both gems.
"Oh no. What have we done?" whispered Sapphire, both oh her hands covering her mouth. Her blue orb full of guilt and fear.
We'll find our way out
I'm tired of all the hiding
When the gems told Greg what happened, for the first time ever, he yelled at them. Worse than the time they kidnapped baby Steven in the middle of a snowstorm.
Unspoken secrecy
Cuz nothing's more exciting
When they talked to Lapis, Peridot and Bismuth, they were yelled at again. Never had the crystal gems felt worse than now. They knew it was their fault Steven ran away.
When you're right next to me
I'm captured by the feeling
Connie was the last one to know about their mistake. She just looked at them, disappointed. She waited for Steven. She had faith in him. He would return to her. He always did.
Of when you're wrapped up in my arms
In my arms
Despite all the searching, they never found him. Nothing. No one knew anything about him, nor did he ever came back home.
But one day, they found a little Spinel, far from Homeworld, whistling while looking at some dresses and shorts, shopping apparently.
I don't have all the answers
Not sure what we should do
But it doesn't really matter
I'm so in love with you
As long as you're besides me
I know it'll be okay
We'll be okay
"Our way out" song by Nico Collins
IMPORTANT: Steven and Spinel didn't rushed their decision, but they didn't think it through either. Don't be too harsh on them. They are still young (in fact, worse. Because he is a teenager and Spinel acts like a teenager too, so it was expected xD And Steven almost did the same with Connie, when they were younger)
Another thing. No one thought that Steven was with Spinel because of the time they spent apart, and because they tried to appear like nothing changed. It may sound logic to us, readers, but it's not. That's life without a narrator xD
Also: if it's a ship, or just friends, or family, it depends on the reader~ See them as you want xD I don't care~ xP
People tend to forget the most obvious clues ^w^'

Dante stood in the lobby as he read the latest issue of his favorite magazine.
Already in his best formal attire, the man unceremoniously waited for you. The gig this time required the two of you to infiltrate a party to rat a certain Demon out, and at the mere thought of you in a dress had him intrigued.
Of course, he found you quite fetching. But, the clothes you wore on a daily basis? With your fondness for loose, oversized, and unflattering pieces of clothing, he honestly thought that you got nothing compared to either Trish or Lady, who were two of the most beautiful, if not lethal, women he had ever seen.
Yes, he thought that all the beauty you got were wasted on your conservative tastes,...
"Are we gonna go, or what?" Dante, who failed to notice you as you came down from your room, heard you loud and clear and turned.
"Hey, what took you - ?"
The man stopped dead in his tracks, for there, right before his very eyes, was,...
You raised an eyebrow and placed your hands on your hips. "Are you gonna stare at me the whole evening? We still have a job to do."
"The lady is right." Morrison, who just entered the building, said. And when he saw you, his eyes widened in complete awe. "And surprise of all mother of surprises. You look like the most gorgeous star in the galaxy, my dear."
"Thank you, Mr. Morrison." You said, taking the Broker's hand and letting him lead you outside towards his car.
"Your partner seems to be tongue tied."
"Yeah, he's busy with that magazine of his."
You carefully entered the vehicle as Morrison opened the door for you. A few moments later, Dante followed.
The ride towards your destination was a really quiet one. You would occasionally look at the front at Morrison as he drove but, most of the time, your eyes were just glued to the window beside you. Despite that, you could not shake the feeling of heaviness in your body. It's as if you have been the subject of someone's intense stares for far too long.
Still, you smiled, not letting yourself be tempted to indulge your silent companion.
Your resistance persisted until you two reached the place.
And Dante could not hold it in any longer.
"Hey," he began, isolating you from the other guests by leading you to an empty hallway. "You've been keeping things from me."
"Wha - ?" You started to argue but, then, realized he was right. "Well, yes."
"What else can you do?" Dante demanded, your overwhelming scent of a very addictive vintage wine assaulting his nostrils and driving his patience to the limit. "Witchcraft? Sorcery? Voodoo?"
You only chuckled at his question. "They're the same thing."
The man grabbed your shoulders and made you look up at him, his light - colored eyes more intense than ever before. "Tell. Me."
Unfazed, you only smiled up at him, grabbed his huge hands, and removed them gingerly off you. You then took one of his hands and led him back towards the living area where the party was taking place.
"What are you doing?"
"See that lady?" You whispered to him in a lover - like fashion so as not to make yourself obvious that you're plotting something dangerous. "That's your target."
"How did you even - ?!"
"Sshh! Don't ask. Okay?"
Dante looked at the said female, who happened to be the host of the party.
"So, in two minutes, she will come our way, introduce herself to you, and start flirting with you. You will flirt with her for, like, five minutes."
The man looked at you suspiciously. "Why did I suddenly feel nervous about this?"
"Oh, you'll be fine. Anyway, her lover will come out of hiding. You will kill him."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Who said anything about killing an innocent man?!"
"And," you went on, ignoring Dante's complaint. "... you will use the Rebellion and drive it through his skull, then she will attack you. You will use the Ebony and Ivory against her. And, guess what, all the guests in here? They're all Demons. You will finish them in, like, ten minutes, tops. Then, you will join me in the balcony and wipe Demon blood off your face."
"And why am I supposed to believe you?"
"Because your two minutes is up and she's coming towards us."
And surely enough, with hips swaying seductively and eyelids fluttering like butterfly wings, the gracefully tall and slender host of the party was coming towards the legendary Devil Hunter. Dante looked back at you and realized you weren't there any more.
Approximately fifteen minutes later, the man, who was covered in Demon guts and chandelier glitter, came out to join you on the balcony. He wiped the Demon blood off his face and leaned against the railing beside you.
"You didn't even help me." Dante told you wih a huge sigh. "And we're supposed to be partners."
"Convinced?"
"Whatever."
"Hey, at least you got to flirt with her, right?" You cheerfully answered.
Dante looked at you with every intention of giving you a piece of his mind but, you were already walking away from him.
"Hey!"
You turned back, winked at him, and held up a finger to your lips.
"Sshh,..."
***
You and V hustled towards the empty building, sheltering yourselves due to the very sudden and heavy rainfall.
Once inside, V heard you grunt in dismay and as he turned to look at you, he saw you as you put your black violin case down on the cold floor and strip off your wet parka, revealing your simple white dress underneath.
Now, V may have no idea, whatsoever, what you'll need the violin for during the Demon hunt, but he was definitely flabbergasted as to your taste in clothing. It's as if you were not going on a Demon hunt, at all.
You felt a pair of eyes boring down on you as you picked up your violin case, and when you looked up, you ultimately saw him staring at you.
Then, there was that feeling again - of your cheeks burning, of your heartbeat going wild, of your knees getting weak and wobbly.
It's as if the man's mere gaze put your mind in a trance, and your senses into a total discord.
You shyly looked away, trying to escape his longing look, until you finally noticed where you really were.
"Hey, this is a dance studio!" You exclaimed breathlessly as you ran towards one of the doors that led to a huge rehearsal room. You entered it and took in the achingly familiar atmosphere of the place, from its floor, the huge glass windows, to the mirrored walls.
The exact moment when V entered the room after you, Griffon materialized and flew towards you.
"Where did ya just take us to?" The bird irritatingly questioned. "It's too damn creepy in here!"
"Why? You afraid of mirrors?"
The bird squawked and flew towards one of the abandoned chairs, perching and settling himself comfortably.
You ignored the Demon and went towards the window, seeing the angry outpour outside and the eventual streak of lightning from the sky, followed by the loud boom of the thunder.
"It seems that we have become stranded here for a while." You heard V's low voice as you sensed him walking closer towards you.
You simply nodded, still unable to look the man in the eye. "I hope it stops soon."
"I wish for the opposite."
The very noticeable purr in the man's voice made your heart do flips. You turned around, and as another streak of lightning painted the sky, you saw the unmistakable mischief in those eyes and grin of his.
Suddenly feeling both nervous and giddy, you hastily walked towards one of the chairs near Griffon, sat, and removed your boots.
"Okay, these are getting heavy as hell!" You said, unintentionally making your voice loud due to your nerves. "I'm taking these off!"
"Ew!" Griffon exclaimed as soon as your feet came into view. "Did ya step on a fuckin' corpse or are those yer actual feet, eh sweet pea?!"
You narrowed your eyes at the demonic bird, who started laughing at your pitiful, scarred little feet.
"Hahaha! Ah, haha, eh, well, no offense, sweet pea. Just sayin' the truth."
"Beauty cannot be comprehended by small minds, my Demonic friend." V, who, of course, followed you, fortunately came to your rescue.
You gave Griffon a triumphantly evil grin as you placed your wet boots under the table. "I'm a dancer. It would make perfect sense for me to have ugly feet." You looked up at V and spoke with him instead of the bird who got grumpy. "I got these scars from years of dedicated dancing."
"Hmm,..." V mused as he sat on a chair beside you. "Those scars,... symbolize the true enjoyment and will that you felt doing that special something you adore." He uttered, then leaned closer towards you. With a soft whisper, he said, "Those feet, my Lady,... I would kiss,... over,... and over again,... if I could,... "
Thump!
"Shoes! Shoes! The floor is cold! I need shoes!" You literally yelled, feeling your traitorous heart triple in heartbeat. With hot cheeks and trembling limbs, you hastily stood up and roamed aimlessly all over the room in search of those shoes you mentioned. As lame as you might have looked then, you knew what's truly going on between you and the poet, you just could not handle your own chaotic feelings. And now, you must have looked like a total mess right before him.
"Yeah, no shit, Shirley!" Griffon sarcastically whispered at V. "Ain't that right, V? I mean, if ya like her, just tell her already! Dangit! Fuckin' stop beatin' 'round the fuckin' bushes! Look at her, ya broke the thing!"
Surely enough, V saw you wandering around the room, muttering something uncomprehensible under your breath.
Taking pity on you and feeling guilty at himself for making you uncomfortable, he stood up and walked to where you were.
You felt the man as he neared you and instinctively halted your silly, panic mumblings. You cleared your throat, bravely faced him, and saw the worried look in those deep green eyes of his.
"Well, I do not exactly enjoy it. Dancing, I mean." You told the man, making yourself as calm as you could. "It was more like a,... survival kind of thing."
"Survival, you say?" V answered, instantly feeling intrigued. How would one consider dancing as survival? But, of course, he had no idea what you've been through as a child. "Can you, please, explain?"
You slightly got nervous, feeling as if you revealed more than what was necessary. You were only talking about your ugly feet, damnit! No need to drag the man further into your own, dark past.
Once again, you looked around for something, anything, that could save you from your blunder. And there, right on the corner, you saw, as the lightning lit up the dark sky, a pair of forgotten ballet shoes. You looked at the thing with much intent, then back at your male companion.
"Shall I just show you how they made us dance, instead?" You offered. Well, since you'd be moving a lot from now on, you might as well have a sort of a warm up.
And what a perfect way to do that than that accursed piece those pale people made you dance for six whole years.
On the other hand, V felt concerned about you. You considered dance as survival, and yet, here you were, offering to open up what must've been a deep wound from the past.
Then, he had an idea.
"If dancing felt like a challenge to you," he said, suddenly offering up a hand. " ... then, would you allow this fool to ease the burden and join you for this dance?"
Thump! Thump!
Went your heartbeat once more. But, this time, escaping and saving your shy self would not do you any good. So, instead, you took a deep breath, nodded, and looked up at him with much resolve. You took his hand and began with the simplest of steps.
Well! The man surely had instruction! He was sensitive enough to know when you'll turn, when you must be lifted, and when you'll change positions. Not to mention his graceful movements! Where the hell did he learn ballet?!
Meanwhile, V only had to thank the endless dance lessons he took when he was only a boy! And not only that, he also had to actually thank his stupid twin for skipping them, for, if not, he would never have received more difficult extra lessons that involved doing a pas des deux ! And who knew it will become useful in the future?!
For a while, it seemed as though nothing could disrupt the little, yet warm environment that engulfed the two of you. Not even the bleak weather. Even the foul - mouthed Demon perched on the chair close by dared not utter any piercing word.
Everything seemed at peace, the steps you made, perfect. The lightning streaked the sky once more, splashing very little light into the cold, studio. You made another pirouette, longing to end the little dance with flourish, until the loud bang of the thunder came booming down, startling you and making you stumble on your feet. V thankfully caught you just in time before you fall.
"(Y/N),..."
"I'm fine, thank you." You reassured the man, at the same time getting back up on your feet with his help. "You know, my body's condition was not how it used to be compared to when I was a bit younger."
The man smiled gently at you as he took your hands once more, pulling you closer. "Age matters not, as long as you enjoy dancing."
You sheepishly smiled back at him. "Now that you mentioned it, yes. I enjoyed this dance."
The man may not have chosen to mention it to you but, he definitely enjoyed the little performance with you. Much more so than you did. For you were there with him, smiling, and forgetting the chaos of this world.
For at least a few minutes, it felt intimate for V.
However, he saw the smile on your face slowly vanish as you let go of his hands. The man looked at you in confusion, then you told him, "There is, was, only one person in the world who could outdance me in the past."
The man's face fell, seeing the sadness that was creeping up on those (E/C) eyes he had come to adore.
With glistening eyes, you simply uttered, "My sister."
"I'm so sorry." V whispered achingly at you. "It must be,... "
"She was," you went on, managing a smile despite the hurt that suddenly made its way onto your chest at the reminder of your lost, beloved sibling. " ... how to put this? She was perfect in every way. She was the most beautiful girl in the world, and everybody adored her. She,... died,... to save me, V."
V looked away from her. He had,... someone,... very special whom he lost a very long time ago. Hearing you tell your own tale regarding the person you lost brought back those hurtful memories of the one he loved above all else,...
... her,...
He took a deep breath and faced you once more, not wanting you to worry about him.
"What matters is that you still have precious people around you, my Lady." He said, his voice hoarse and raw with untold emotions and unshed tears. "You must focus on not losing them, as well."
You smiled at him, aware of the melancholic feeling you had evoked in the already cold and lonely atmosphere. You took both his hands and guided him to sit on the floor.
Confused, V glanced at you as you positioned yourself in the middle of the empty dance floor. Griffon noticed this change and flew towards his master, settling himself right beside him.
"V," you began. "... let me tell you the story of a man who regrets the loss of a loved one and the woman who loves him the most. The love of his life. Whom he could no longer be with."
You took a deep breath and began a slow movement that gradually turned into a series of steps that seemed to tell a story, like what you mentioned.

Every turn, every gesture, every sweet and graceful hand movement told V some numerous, little words forming into silent sentences that seemed to whisper directly at his heart. The steps to the very raw yet beautiful dance you performed honestly moved him, feeling a different kind of an ache within his own heart. The steps turned more radiant as it came to the heart of the story,...
... of a very graceful woman,...
... and the man,...
... who was foolish enough to let her go.
And when you finished, he was both speechless and mesmerized. You looked at him with concern, confused by his uncharacteristic silence.
That was when you saw it,...
... genuine tears falling down his face.
"Ah!" You stuttered, not knowing what to do upon the realization that you just made V cry. "I'm so sorry! I would never do this again! I - "
You were immediately silenced as V stood and gave you a hug so tight, yet so gentle, that you felt that he did not want to let go of you.
Like he did not want to ever lose you.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
You knew he was still crying, so you took the initiative to wrap your arms around him and pull him closer.
"Hey, it's okay." You gently whispered at him, calming him down with your caress. "I'll never leave you. I promise."
And just when things were getting more and more cozy between the two of you, Griffon, who seemed to get touched by your performance, as well, flew towards you with large, melancholic eyes. How strange for a brazen creature such as him!
"Hey, do ya know any more stories that won't make ya cry?" The bird asked in a sad and weird tone.
"Okay! Let's see,... "
V smiled as he let go of you, wanting to hear what you were about to say. He just could not help but become excited for your story.
"There was a warrior who was protected by three Goddesses." You began. "However, he mysteriously vanished, making the Goddesses scatter all over the world in search of a temporary vessel until he returns. They found her and dwelled within her for a hundred years.
"Then, one day, he returned and two of his Goddesses returned to him. Aside from the last one who got attached to the woman. But, to gain complete power, the man must have all three with him. So, he took the third Goddess from the woman by force."
"What happened?!"
"Ah,... she died."
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHITTY STORY?!"
You became nervous as cold sweat trickled down your forehead. "I made it up,... "
"WHAT IN THE FUCKIN' - ?!"
"Hush, you Demon,..." V chuckled as he watched the two of you argue,...
But, the fun and peace of mind you had didn't last long,...
For, only after a few hours, Griffon, who was rendered useless by the Diabolical Amalgam, was screaming your name as you made your way towards the frightening creature, unarmed, wounded, vulnerable, and above all, stripped naked.
"SWEET PEA!" Griffon pleaded as he tried once more to attack, only to fail yet again. "YOU WILL FUCKIN' DIE! STOP!"
But you only looked back at him, winked, and held up a slender finger to your bloody lips.
"Sshh,..."

Note: That's Simone Cameresi for you! A very graceful dancer. I imagine her as the Reader in that very sweet and heartfelt moment as she danced for V. So, I hope you followed my instruction and watched her before reading the next paragraph. 🖤
Another Note: The title of the song is Turning Page by Sleeping At Last. 🖤
P.S.: In ballet, a pas de deux is a dance duet in which two dancers, typically a male and a female, perform ballet steps together. The pas de deux is characteristic of classical ballet and can be found in many well - known ballets, including Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and Giselle. Yeah, the more you know. 🖤
