For the record, we love making games and want them to be approachable.

This whole debacle has had us discuss trigger warnings for the future because some people are only sensitive to certain sub-sets of issues, myself included.

On a store page and in fane, however, these warnings could be lengthy.

Would it be good, I wonder, to have the lists on the store page and at launch, as we have thus far, and then each respectively direct you to where you could read more about each trigger type?

For example, a longer warning might be:

Transphobia:

Depiction of violence against a transwoman; scene includes aftermath of physical altercation

"T Slur" appears twice if player interacts with [PC in Chiyo's room]

Online abuse against a transgender individual (Sexual harassment and dehumanizing language)

In-game, I think it should be fairly easy to do a trigger warning directory with breakdowns and possibly examples of each?

It's time consuming, but if it's something that would make people feel more comfortable playing horror games, I am always looking to explore new options.

I don't think doing this would have mattered in the recent abuse, but it does matter to us for making sure players are comfortable moving forward.

I mentioned these things in my itch.io response on Mare's page before comments were closed.

For what it's worth now, the "T slur" was used because people who tear us down really don't give two shits if I'm nonbinary, trans masc, or whatever. Being trans is enough for them to hate me.

Maybe it's regional, generational, or whatever, but it's been applied plenty to trans masc and nonbinary people around me as much as transfemmes because people who hate us don't really see a difference.

As far as trigger warnings in games though, I am always happy to discuss ways to improve on it further. Z and I are both neurodivergent, queer game devs and I am also disabled.

Making stuff accessible is very important to us, so I would genuinely like to have a conversation about what makes approaching dark subject matter feel safe.

However, given the recent targeted hate campaigns, I will Not be engaging with anyone who comes to this in bad faith.

You will be blocked immediately, and I encourage others to do the same rather than engage.

BNHA Observations, speculations and assorted info: U.A. High School (Part 1: Infirmary)

So, in order to write my fic, I spend much time observing canon scenes, comparing the manga and the anime version, take note of details, translations and info in them as well as finding out how are some things called.

Since what I noticed/speculated/found out can be of use for other fic authors I thought to share as well.

OBSERVATIONS, SPECULATIONS AND ASSORTED INFO:

As all the Japanese schools U.A too has an infirmary or helath room (保健室 ‘Hoken-shitsu’), though the English version prefers to call it Nurse's office.

There aren't many pictures about in the manga and the anime, as it's a place that appears only 4 times though the story but they're enough to give us an idea of how it is.

THE ONE IN CHARGE OF THE INFIRMARY

Youthful Heroine: Recovery Girl (妙齢ヒロイン リカバリーガール Myōrei Heroine Recovery Girl), real name Shūzenji Chiyo (修善寺治与) is in charge of the U.A. infirmary.

Chapter 4 refers to her as ‘Kango kyōyu’ (看護教諭 “Nurse teacher”) where normally, in Japan, nurses in charge of the infirmary are called ‘Yōgo kyōyu’ (養護教諭 “Health Teacher”) or ‘Hoken-shitsu no sensei’ (保健室の先生 “Infirmary Teacher”) and this person provides first-aid treatment for injuries, illnesses, etc. of students and monitor their physical and mental health through medical examinations, health observations and so on. Recovery Girl is likely raised to the rank of “Nurse teacher” because she also has a nursing licence and provides much more serious nursing care to the students than just first aid help in fact during the sport festival, when Midoriya is injuried she says she did surgery on him.

Also, in Japan the person in charge of the infirmary is part of the teacher body and, in some cases, can teach to classes, though this would risk leaving the infirmary empty.

INFIRMARY SIGN

To point out the place is an infirmary, outside the door there's a sign saying so.

We don't really get to see the corridor in which the infirmary is but it likely looks like one of the many corridors in U.A. with the rooms on one side and giant windows on the opposite one. Actually, even if it's not said, this could very well be the corridor that lead to the infirmary as the view from the window seems the right one and it would make sense for the students to go visit Midoriya but as it's not clearly stated this is just my speculation.

DOOR (FROM THE INSIDE)

The door is a sliding one. In the manga there's either a glass on it or something attached to it but the same can't be said for the anime. Ironically while in the manga the door opens in one direction in the anime it opens in the opposite one. In the anime it's shown that the window on the corridor is so clear and large you've the impression the door opens on the outside.

WINDOW (FROM THE INSIDE)

The infirmary has a large window on the wall opposite to the one of the door. In the manga we can't see out of it, but in the anime treetops are visible, hinting the infirmary is placed on one of the upper floors of the school.

INSIDE

Inside there's Recovery Girl's desk with a deskchair as well as two infirmary beds and a stool for patients or visitors to sit on.

On Recovery Girl's desk there's the screen of a pc but I can't see any keyboard. Possibly it's a touchscreen. She also seems to have books on her desk.

Manga and anime seem to more or less agree on the design of the room for the left wall. Things change when we move to the right wall, as it wasn't shown in the manga early on and so the anime had no references when they drew the first series and had to make up the tiny glimpses of it we see and then decided to stick with what they made up. The result is the anime has a room with less space than the manga and a closet in it.

We can also sign a sign which I think is the one to check eyesignt, what should be an instrument to measure height and a message board.

The anime shows us there's also a clock on the wall and a speaker.

Also, the anime shows the recycle bin.

OUTSIDE

In the manga we aren't shown where the infirmary is located. The anime, showing the treetops from the windows, seems to imply it's on a upper floor. This image from which ballons of what Recovery Girl is saying come out from the last floor seems to imply that's where the infirmary is but it's likely not the case or it would be in such a high place they wouldn't be able to see the treetops. But well, this is just me, I can't say for sure.

i love that we got this whole flashback with son goku and his previous jinchuuriki who was the first human to treat him like an intelligent being instead of a monster, but we never once got a flashback of how mito became the very first jinchuuriki ever and how that must've been for her

i love that we got a whole founders flashback and where hashirama talks abt his and madara's story in detail but not once does mito, his wife, even get mentioned and funny enough, there are no women during the flashback except for a standstill image of touka whose name we only know thanks to the data books

i love that during the chuunin fight all fights got shown, some longer, some shorter, except for the temari and tenten fight where all we got was a "30mins" later and then a cut to tenten laying defeated over temari's fan (anime addition doesn't count)

i love that jiraya is a badass in his 50s and that his age doesn't hinder his shinobi skills, but that tsunade, who's the same age, is super vain and uses a jutsu to appear as if she was in her 20s (with big boobs she's fine to show off) and the few times her jutsu falls all we see is her hand that kishi drew like she was 1000yo and not merely in her 50s

i love that 2 out of 5 hokage are women and both love to show off their deep cleavage and one of them is obsessed with marriage and pretty boys, while the other male kage all are of different ages and despite their ages show how strong and capable they are

i love that during the grief/revenge arc shikamaru got to shine and defeated hidan all on his own, while ino (and chouji) were useless against kakuzu and just standing there while kakashi was there to save them (and then naruto)

i love that neji got a whole arc, got to talk to hiashi, got to change to instead of succumb to his fate and try to actively change the clan, while we never got hinata's view on any of that at all, but hey, at least she grew and got really pretty and has now massive boobs so that naruto's final love interest is aestethically more pleasing bc that's all that matters amiright

i love that none of the medics are male (random no-name background characters that all look the same don't count) and only female (tsunade, sakura, rin, chiyo etc)

i love that we got some background info on the parents' of konoha 12, but only the fathers are cool fighters (shikaku, chouza, inoichi, fugaku etc), while the mothers are all housewives happy in their roles (yoshino, mikoto, kushina) - except for tsume who is made fun of her brash personality and that this is the reason her husband ran off

i love that all shinobi and kunoichi have cool and practical outfits, except for kushina whose outfit is literally an apron bc she's just naruto's mum that's all there to it

look, credit where credit is due - kishi writes women still SO much better than a fuckton lot of other male mangakas. when sarutobi died, jiraya was considered as hokage but he said he knows someone better for that job; and that someone is a woman in her 50s who can crumble mountains, is loud and brash and a drunkard and gambler - and doesn't even stop being any of that even after becoming hokage. she continues being loud and punches stuff and drinks a lot! and she's loved by the village! she shows madara who's boss and srsly if he hadn't been edo tensei'd and therefore unkillable, she would've obliterated him. that's huge actually!

sakura is shy and sometimes naive but she's also smart and she comes out of her shell and she becomes strong and independent (in theory), and she learns not to focus on romance and looks so much, but still keeps the feminine side of her while being loud and proud!

shikamaru is defeated by a girl and saved by another one who defeats the girl easily and cockily and he stops being an airhead!

kishi also draws the women and girls well. these gals look their age and wear age appropriate outfits that are practical to fight with, instead of some skimpy outfits (*cough* that one cover of sarada from boruto *cough*) and the women with the big breasts at least look normal and anatomically correct, instead of being firm and bouncy

but the problem is that he created such amazing, well-thought out, sometimes downright iconic male characters, that in comparison all his female characters pale, despite leagues ahead of the female characters from other shounen mangas

and i generally agree with the post "i don't care how bad naruto is - it has heart" bc yeah, i wouldn't be here if that weren't the case. but sometimes it gets incredibly frustrating when i think of all the potential these gals and women had and never got bc kishi couldn't be bothered to at least try

i'm sorry i'm still not over the fact that kishi couldn't fit sakura's parents anywhere in the manga, so he gave the creative rights over to sp, but he had plenty of space to fit in a catholic background for kabuto, which we all clearly needed thank god

it's also so important he included the hanzo vs. mifune fight and gave them a whole backstory but the girl from suna whose name i don't rmbr anymore sorry vs. her dead sensei pakkura only got a single shocked "sensei!" and nothing more bc uuuhhhh,,,,, plot reasons. they're just some unimportant background characters whereas hanzo and mifune aren't

i think it's sooo cool how team 7 became the new legendary sannin but only naruto and sasuke got god-like powers and it was kakashi who actively helped against kaguya without god-powers and even formed a whole ass susannoo deapite not being an uchiha while sakura. got to punch kaguya once (1) (which was not even needed in that situation either)

i think it's so interesting how bee had this sad backstory with that dude from the turtle island, but the backstory of kurosutchi (?) and deidara and the kind of relationship they had considering she calls him deidara-nii is clearly not relevant to the plot, please be realistic

konan could obv not be brought back with edo tensei bc she blew herself up to the smithereens and nothing was left of her anymore but deidara could be brought back bc.... uhm. hm. bc he clearly did not completely blow himself up nope

these are all perfectly reasonable explanations and have clearly all to do with plot and absolutely nothing with the fact that they're women nope

It's tragic to see a character who has had just two panels in entire series and is being blamed for bloody mist mess😞

Third Mizukage is an outright mysterious character. He was around the same age as hashirama and madara,was guarding byakuren in first kage summit ever and still the mizukage title was passed over to gengetsu. Perhaps he had the longest reign compared to other mizukages as he became the mizukage for more than twenty years.

But was he truly responsible for ninja academy's bloody ritual?

I tried to research on his character design and i found out some interesting info. Kishimoto is a genius so he might have left info for us to judge this character based on his looks.

This badass had black eyes,which show a dark and strong character in shonen animanga,with black sclerae,he can be either crazy overpowered like thor from record of ragnarok. Long hairs and purple clothes are sign of nobility and royalty,and pearls represent loyalty,purity,wisdom and serenity. Closed are sign of wisdom,and his famous hands clasped behind his back show his fearlessness and that he's preparing for a possible tension,and to make him look even more intimidating.

Serenity,loyalty and wisdom... Why would he make kids kill each other to graduate from academy?

I doubt he did that.

Hell,he must've been more than 70 if he was alive during that time,and we got to see his soul in war arc.

He looks like he's in his 40s/50s. Characters like fugaku and sakumo look the same as him,jiraiya and orochimaru being other examples.

We've seen 70 years olds like danzo,hiruzen and chiyo. The difference is clear as day.

Yagura on other hand was only victimized in boruto filler episode,where raiga' daughter who must be over 20 years but is just a teen exists.

Yagura is a young adult. Young adult's age range is 18-39. Very broad range. And he could be old enough to become mizukage at that time. Hell,he was very skilled shinobi even before becoming mizukage. And he didn't became jinchuriki when he was a child,but when he was young.

I dunno,maybe when third died they didn't have a mizukage and did crazy things like ordering kids to kill each other,which traumized mei,zabuza,etc in result.

Just wanted to say don't antagonize my man.

He deserves more love,and a name too.

I wish you would write... Hmm maybe Sakura getting sent to be Itachi's handler (somewhat against his will) when they uncover what Danzo did there and Tsunade decides she wants to tap him for info, except Sakura ends up getting caught and having to improvise and join the Akatsuki.

I love this one, haha.

Why would Sakura get this job?

She wouldn't. It's a clerical error. The scrolls got swapped. Oop.

The fic will start with Sakura thinking about how hard and scary this job is, but reassuring herself, "Well, if shishō has faith in me... I can't let her down!" She is very determined as she sets out.

Then there would be a scene break as we cut to Tsunade screaming in the admin office. But it's too late by then. Sakura has made contact. She's stuck.

Sakura doesn't know what she's doing. She gets caught immediately. The Akatsuki recognise her. Itachi clearly thinks she's a dumbass, and he won't even talk to her because he didn't want a handler getting themselves killed in the first place.

Sakura declares she's a missing-nin wants to join them. She panicked! It was self defence!

They, ostensibly, take her on.

They don't partner her with Itachi, though. No, of course not, that would be too easy.

They give her Sasori, who has an entire spy network and a very meticulous memory. His secondary mission is to assess her truthfulness and eliminate her if she's fucking around. (Elimination would be the "finding out" part, I suppose.)

He does, of course, figure out that she's trying to make contact with Itachi specifically, and it's not hard to determine her loyalty to her village.

She holds her own in the ensuing fight, but without Chiyo to help, she doesn't know enough about Sasori to turn the battle to her favour.

Itachi shows up out of nowhere and steps in to prevent her dying.

So now they have like. Sasori, and a hundred other puppets, to hide or destroy, before anyone—not Deidara, not Zetsu, not Kisame—comes looking. The 3-mile stretch of forest Sasori and Sakura filled with poison is a horrifying giveaway. Even the trees are dropping like flies. It's fine. It's totally fine. Definitely amaterasu isn't noticeable or anything. It's fine.

(Itachi has to genjutsu half the Akatsuki just to prevent them from realising what the fuck happened.

And that's just, like, Monday.)
