SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3 OF SWEET HOME UNDER THE CUT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
what the actual fuck was that ending dude. sure i was kinda always expecting Eun-yu to become a monster at some point or another but dude? her illusion and just the way we DIDN'T GET TO SEE THAT WITH THE REAL IRL EUN-HYUK??????? HOW FUCKING DARE THEY. ALSO WTF WHY DID THEY MAKE YEONG-SU A MONSTER AND KILL OFF JIN-OK????? AND THEN THEY KILLED OFF YI-KYUNG AFTER GIVING HER THE LOWKEY BEST REDEMPTION ARC IVE EVER SEEN (I dont watch a lot of tv) LIKE WTFFF.
anyways... im mad about the ending and i hate how it feels so lazy and just thrown together. the rest of the season was great but wow. shitty job producers. wtf.
I am thankful eunyu and hyunsu never kissed because i would have thrown my laptop to the floor and broke it into a million pieces.
anyways, the entire thing made me really want to write an Eun-hyuk x reader x Hyun-su story like i was going to do originally but now im going to do it for real but probably only for season 3 so watch out for that! it might be a multi-parter but it also might not be :)

Hi Lexi :)
What is your opinion on other TWD media? - mainly the comics and the TV series? If so, do you have any favorite characters from them or is there anything in particular you like about um? Or do you like the telltale game only?
Tumblr media
i have not read the comics mostly due to lack of time. and ive heard conflicting things about them so i havent gone out of my way to read them
but i HAVE watched.. most of the show. had problems with it but it did get me to cry a few times. the beth and daryl stuff comes to mind. carol and daryl too. and i didnt even like daryl at the time 💀 also the early stuff with rick and morgan. i do love michonne tho :) i liked her and andrea. and her and carl becoming friends was sweet. and i liked how it came before her relationship with rick. her relationship with rick was boring tho 😔. like. it wasnt bad theyre cute but like.. i was expecting it to have more prominence i guess. i watched it last summer so my memories of the earlier stuff that was actually interesting is hazy
i pretty much binged it until season 7............... negan killed the show for me i hated him so much. such a carver but with the attitude of a 14yo boy on xbox live. insufferable. it then became a slog and i gave up like halfway through season 10. and i only made it that far because i wanted to know wtf was up with the whisperers. actually the first episode of S10 with the introduction of them was like... The Best episode i had seen from the show since before i lost interest in it. but then it immediately went back to shit. because every character was forced to relive the same arc over and over again like they were trapped in a fucking time loop. and apparently thats STILL HAPPENING????? saw an ad the other day for a new rick and michonne thing. please put this show out of its misery
i at the time wrote some draft posts about my opinions but i deleted all of them except for one it seems. carls death was my breaking point and i didnt even love his character or anything
Tumblr media
i Have heard that in the comic its rick who dies instead of carl which like.. the comic gets points for that at least
watching the show retroactively raised my opinion of seasons 2 and 3 of the telltale games and i had a really good laugh about it at the time. but its true. even when i Was interested in the show it was like.. by a Thread. but it Did have good moments that i just kept hoping would come back. instead we got negan
do you ever think about how before the outbreak rick was a cop and lee was going to prison. an interesting difference. especially when it comes to the mindset of a main character. i much preferred lee

HELLO, IVE JUST FINISHED WATCHING WEDNESDAY
because i am the biggest dumbest nerd when it comes to the addams family: ive made a crappy list of why wednesday is everything i hoped for and more and why it is absolutely fucking perfect. spoilers.
im not entirely sure on how to start slow with this one so im getting right fucking into it. enjoy reading the disaster of my thoughts on this masterpiece:
AMAZING CASTING. jenna is incredible as wednesday, catherine and luiz are the perfect morticia and gomez, i adored seeing christina ricci KICKING ASS. gwendoline christie was amazing as weems, fred armisen as fester???? lost my shit he was so perfect. i don’t think there was a single cast member i wasn’t amazed with.
no genuinely i loved all of the nevermore students
fell in love w enid so fast omg i was rooting for her so hard her arc was so awesome (her and ajax are so cute too)
rip rowan you would’ve loved wenclair
THING!!!: its not the addams family without thing, and its especially not the addams family if thing isn’t being a little shit stirrer the whole time. perfect beautiful i love him A++
THE WEDNESDAY/PUGSLEY DYNAMIC WAS SO ON POINT they literally have the actual best sibling dynamic
i now know that you have not lived until you’ve seen wednesday addams stuck in a love triangle. she is not a character that you would expect to have a romantic interest but now in my mind she’s just beautifully a-spec and probably demiromantic. yes obviously i love xavier.
don’t get mad at me but i don’t ship her w enid that much?? at least not romantically but hey i would not complain if we had a polycule or qpr!!!
also it was genuinely so cute to see wednesday making friends like. why was i sobbing so much when she hugged enid. holy fuck.
THE DANCE SCENE. SHES AN ICON SHES A LEGEND AND SHE IS THE MOMENT
i am referring to both her actual dancing and ofc “they couldn’t even spring for real pigs blood. its only paint.” so real.
cant even stop myself from mentioning that jenna ortega looks very hot covered in blood which happens a lot in this series. like almost every episode. jesus fucking christ i am so in love with her.
i am a huge edgar allen poe nerd so i fucking adored every little reference to his works. also the idea that he was an outcast is so real to me.
speaking of outcasts: ngl definitely could’ve come up with a better name, “outcasts” just made it sound weirdly like some awkward teen high school drama but you get used to it
wednesday’s visions were so cool??? i loved the whole goody addams thing their interactions were really cool and god i just was not expecting that at all.
ok tbh it was really weird that her name was goody, since “goody” is the puritan equivalent of “mrs.” (its short for goodwife) so idk why they did that but ok i’m still here for it
honestly in general they do a really good job of keeping you guessing. i was suspicious about almost every single character throughout the whole series.
in retrospect i should’ve known tyler was gonna be an asshole from the start cause. i mean. his name is tyler. no offense to my tylers, but be real when have you ever seen a tv show character named tyler that wasn’t a douche. i’ll wait.
i’ve typed tyler too many times and it no longer looks like a real name
episodes are nice and long but i obviously wish the series was longer, but it was super bingable and i’m probably gonna rewatch it 3 million times until the next season inevitably comes out.
not to be dorky but i loved how every episode title was a pun w the word “woe”
i have really horrible media literacy in the sense that i overthink EVERYTHING so to me like almost everything in that was beautifully executed symbolism and maybe it was but when i say i lost my shit when i noticed wednesday stand on enid’s side of the room and fsr thats the only example i can think of rn BUT STILL
overall 5 stars 10/10 show i cant wait for more i love the plot i love the characters i love the cast i will be recommending it to everyone ik and more

i want to hear ur thoughts abt object terror, you philosophor
Tumblr media
so disclaimer i havent seen OT in fucking months so this insane ramble isnt gna be. the best but
object terror is one of the best worst fucking object shows ive ever seen, literally the PRIME example of some edgy kid trying to make an object show that isnt ur grandmas object show. no. this is the REAL shit and they say SLURS and theres BLOOD and GORE (yes im serious theres blood and gore and death but itsnot that bad, definitely a bit shocking if u didnt expect it to happen tho)
theres also shitty voice acting and terrible mic quality galore, EX: theres a fucking cup that had this dogshit mic for the longest fucking time and it deadass sounded like bro was talking into a washing machine ohmy god, i remember there was a clip of him going around on twitter a while ago cuz of this (i think that was my first time seeing anything from OT too so theres that)
OH and theres cactus, i barely remember anything abt him but he had this fucking emotionless voice that made me HYSTERICAL. there was a scene where someone got him pissed and he said "you take that back" with. absolutely no emotion at all and since then me and my friends keep fucking quoting that line cuz its the funniest fucking shit ever
btw that slur line i said earlier wasnt a joke, one of the characters straight up drops the R SLUR in the FIRST EPISODE (funnily enough, that character became the creators objectsona i think? ik they kinda used him as a mascot for a bit which is so fucking funny) tho i dont think they drop anymore slurs after that but dont take my word on it
anyways i gotta talk abt my favorite fucking part abt this fucking show before i get to. mint
Tumblr media
THESE FUCKING CUNTS.
before i watched object terror i got fucking warned abt these two because there was a . homophobic scene w them or some shit and i had NO idea what it was for the longest time so i was really excited to see what object homophobia was gna be graced upon my faggotly eyes
and then theyjust. started making out randomly. LIKE OUTTA NOWHERE and there were other characters there that were gna try to attack/kill them? but then they saw them kissing and were like omg ewww boys (i think. the stuff that happens after this scene is kinda blurry tbh and im NOT gonna go back and watch the clip to see what happens ok. i REFUSE) and im sorry but thats the best fucking object show scene ever
AND LIKE? IDK? MAYBE ITS JUST ME BUT I DONT GET WHY I SAW PPL SAY THIS WAS HOMOPHOBIC???? i dunno maybe its just me but like these two just kissed while watching tv and eating chicken AND NOTHING BAD HAPPENED TO THEM!!! THEY LITERALLY WON IMMUNITY BY THE END OF THE EPISODE TOO. THEY WON. THE GAYS WON. and its so fucking funny to me bro object terror LOVES the gays
ok now i need to talk about mint im sorry i hate this fucking thing so much I NEED TO KILL HIM WITH A ROCK!!!! FFFUCK!!
Tumblr media
hes literally just taco ii but 100x worse, i dont even like tacos evil arc or whatever cuz i always found her annoying BUT MINT IS SO MUCH WORSE
never in my. almost 2 years of watching object shows have i ever hated a character so fucking much LIKE GENUINELY THIS THING MAKES ME SO FRUSTRATED. hes just that. lol XD random character FOR THE WHOLE SERIES. just annoying and loud and does literally fucking nothing AND THE JOKES W HIM ARE SO FORCED I SWEAR THEY STOPPED . EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOING ON IN AN EPISODE JUST TO FOCUS ON THIS MOTHERFUCKER CUZ HE WAS GONNA DO SOMETHING FUNNY. im not mad that im missing out on some "juicy" object terror "lore" im just pissed that i have to see this fucking disgrace on my screen
oh and in the latest episode (as of now, the series isnt actually finished yet and i hope to god it never gets continued) SUDDENLY mint has a fucking arc THAT WAS NEVER FORESHADOWED AT ALL IN THE SERIES!! SO SUDDENLY HES A SMART GENIUS THAT COULD DO ANYTHING CUZ HE HAS MACHINES N SHIT AND A WHOLE ASS LABORATORY ??????? THEN HE FUCKING DIES
do you know how many fucking. mid and uninteresting characters we had to lose for him
Tumblr media
DO YOU KNOW THE LOSSES I HAD TO DEAL WITH CUZ OF HIM
Tumblr media
he lived for too fuckig long in this show dammit it pisses me off that he's even a character that exists . i blame him for being the reason why i hate joke characters (except david ily david bfdi)
i dont wanna talk abt him anymore im gonna
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OK OK BUT. 1 more thing. smore
smore is this guy that they introduced later on in the series and hes a FUCKING. DEMON FROM HELL and i need him so bad actually
Tumblr media
i think at some point he tries to . kill mint too so im literaly making out with him rn oh my god HES SO
im so mad hes in object terror IM GETTING YOU OUTTA THERE BABY ‼ ‼ 🗣🗣
honestly tho he was so cool im a little mad that they introduced him so late into the show CUZ WE ONLY SEE HIM FOR LIKE 2 EPISODES GRAHHHH RAAGHHHH babygirl
anyways thats it i feel like theres more but im not gonna wring out any more object terror knowledge from my brain i think that'll kill me
hope u enjoyed my insanity anon heres a loser . hope this heals you

Winter 2021 Anime Opinions
As always its that time of the year I pretend to be an anime connoisseur and leave my review on this seasons anime so take it with a grain of salt asdfgh from the one I enjoyed the least to the most.
Wave!!: Surfing Yappe!! (TV)
Tumblr media
You are seeing currently the only probably best thing about Wave asdfghj Tanaka bby I am SO sorry you got stuck here,,,,, Its bad because I had so many expectations for Wave but it just...... isn’t very good? The characters feel 2 dimensional, animation is veeeery average and the plot is all over the place? Dont even get me started on the Shou situation plot device that they just brushed over and went on with and,,,,,big sigh
Urasekai Picnic
Tumblr media
To be honest is not very fair to compare this one to the rest as ive only watched the first 2 eps but ill catch up eventually asdfghj its not bad just that the plot didnt capture me as much as I hoped but the two main characters cutiess the plot just confuses me asdfgh but I don't have much to say about it
Yakusoku no Neverland 2nd Season
Tumblr media
So uh anyways Chile I don't wanna talk about it the only reason this is not dead last is because RayEmma cute moments but yeah don't watch this clown show go read the manga for self care ✨
Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun
Tumblr media
The only reason this is here is because she. The main girl I cant remember the name of sucks and main dude is very normal asdfgh the plot is basically “Want people to like you? change everything about yourself and become a normie robot!!!” ASDFGHJ Like its so over the top and cringe at times it becomes very confusing but hey I am not caught up either so I may change opinions (x doubt tho)
2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu
Tumblr media
From this point onwards I basically like everything. 2.43 Started suuuuper strong for me, definitely thought it would be one of my favs this season but as the eps went by I just.... kinda lost interest asdfgh? Like its not bad, but its a sort of mix between Stars Align and Haikyuu where I would have loved a more character based story with dark subplots like Stars Align but got the parts I always criticize about Haikyuu were there was a point I didn't really knew any of the characters? ASDFGH like the enemy team is super cool and Love their designs but if you ask me to tell you anything about them I already forgot rip. Its still cute and the animation is cool but yeah it kind of disappointed me in the end a bit ;w;
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season
Tumblr media
AOT Is so sexci because it keeps on hurting me and I come back every-time for it ASDFGHJ Not much to say that hasn't been said, characters are super interesting, plot is a bit confusing at times for me to follow but amazing and I just :))) could go on about certain characters :))))) but I wont :))))
Wonder Egg Priority
Tumblr media
Wonder egg priority is very talked about right now so I wont get too much into it other than definitely give it a watch if you like the more philosophical and “makes you reflect on your life choices” sort of anime ASDFGHJ the visuals are stunning and the characters very well build, although I am very confused at times I am still enjoying it tons ^^ Trigger warning however for some heavy topics I recommend checking the warnings before watching it <3
Kemono Jihen
Tumblr media
I LOVE THEM OKaY? asdfghjk Kemono Jihen gives me the found family topes and I eat them all right up, I love the characters , their designs, the plot, everything. To be fair tho, I did enjoy the manga more than the anime but maybe its a pacing thing? idk but I definitely recommend 100% taking on the manga and maybe after watch the anime but I am enjoying it tons!!
Kai Byoui Ramune
Tumblr media
This one may come as a surprise lol?? Like I haven't seen a single soul talk about Ramune but like??? I am actually enjoying it a lot?? and look forward every week for the ep? asdfghj Like yes I will be the first to admit the animation isn't really the beeeeest out there but the plot is funny while also being serious, the characters are quirky and interesting to keep the flow going and I am liking the undertone heavy messages? the soundtrack also slaps imo and yeah I would definitely say to watch the first ep and if you like that sort of dynamic take it up on the rest!
I★Chu: Halfway Through the Idol
Tumblr media
Okay I will be the first one to admit this is just me being trash for the idol shows but like?? its my list so I get to decide which found family I am screaming about next ASDFGHJ. As an avid A3 stan this gave me serious vibes of my boys (plus they were made form the same company so like not very surprised there loll) and like I think the characters are cute with adorable relationships and cute songs and its just a lighthearted show I sit down every Wednesday and smile through the 25 minutes so yes I Chu deserves a high spot and yes I recommend it even if it has like a 6.3 on myanimelist sksksks
Dr. Stone: Stone Wars
Tumblr media
Look at Gen!!!! enough reasons to watch dr stone!!!! ASDFGH but in all seriousness I....... love them okAy? The plot is amazing and the characters are super entertaining (hiiii Ukyo Gen Senku and Chrome muak) and although it may seem a bit slower paced than first season the arc is gonna get better and better and the finale is gonna be great if they stick to the manga. Only sad that I dont get to see my pirate fuckboy but we better be getting a third season
Bungou Stray Dogs Wan!
Tumblr media
when I say this is the happiness of all my Tuesdays I ain’t even exaggerating ASDFGHJ Does this have an important plot? no. Is it transcending to animation? not really. Is it BSD content I've been starving for? absolutely!!! Tbh I see my favorite anime characters in chibi version and I go feral, go watch BSD pogg!!
Horimiya
Tumblr media
Me?? searching for that one gif of the side ship scene am obsessed over?? more likely than you think ASDFGH Horimiya holds a special place in my heart because it was the first manga I ever read and the nostalgia is stroNG,,,,,, The plot isn't anything really transcending but the way the characters are captured the feelings just,,,,,, stan!! Also Yuki x Tooru supremacy !
Skate-Leading☆Stars
Tumblr media
Okaaaaay this is also me being a bitch for sports anime but like, again, are we surprised?? ASDFGHJ It may be my love for Hayato speaking but ive absolutely loves Skate Leading Stars, I love the group, the main characters, the ships, the routines and its so pretty and they are in love and like the competition and asdfgh its gOoD OKaY??? Watch it if anything for Hayato 👉🏻 👈🏻 My bastard bitch I love the gremlin.
Beastars 2nd Season
Tumblr media
I think we are all sleeping on Beastars brushing it off as a furry show. I don’t speak enough about it and I am not one to go about poetic cinemaness on main but beastars is a very poetic cinema show and yall sleeping on it. Coming from someone who was uncomfortable at first with the whole animal relationships part at first, just know beastars is so much more than that, it has a complicated plot with critics about the society within the show with amazing characters, great soundtrack and animation plus banger plot. Pina, Jack, Juno and Legoshi best characters and every week I look forward for the next eps so I hope yall go give it some love.
SK8 The Infinity
Tumblr media
If it wasnt clear from my spam every Saturday that I am absolutely in love with this show I dont know what to tell you ASDFGHJ. Sk8 has an amazing range of characters I find fascinating, specially Reki, very much so everything Reki asdfgh but yeah!! Its super entertaining with an interesting plot and its definetely becoming one of my favorite animes because the amount of times ive rewatched the episodes to cope is kind of embarrassing lmaooo, definetely give it a try although I understand its not for everyone but like,,,,, do it for Reki? 🤧👉🏻👈🏻

Final Fantasy VII Review
Tumblr media
 Year: 1997
Original Platform: PlayStation One
Also available on: PC, PlayStation Store
Version I Played: PlayStation One
Synopsis:
The Shinra Electric Power Company rules over the city of Midgar, and the eco-terrorists AVALANCHE stop at nothing to try and prevent the life essence of the planet from being used as energy. Barrett, leader of AVALANCHE, hires a mercenary named Cloud Strife for their bombing mission on a Shinra Mako Reactor. Cloud doesn’t care much for the greater cause and only wants his pay. But then, after a mission goes awry, he meets Aerith, a flower girl who is the descendant of the Ancients. He quickly finds himself wrapped up in the greater conflict against Shinra.
Tumblr media
 Gameplay:
Final Fanatasy VII utilizes magic spells via Materia – little orbs that come in a variety of colors pertaining to the natural elements. You can mix and match them on your weapons and equipment, which gives you access to different spells and stats. All your equipment varies with the number of slots for how many Materia orbs you can put in. Leveling up not only upgrades the character but the equipped Materia as well.
Final Fantasy VII also uses an ATB system but is known for introducing Limit Breaks – finishing moves that build up after the character gets hit over time. Final Fantasy VI had a prototype called Desperation Attack – but it was very rare as it only appeared when your character had 1/8 of their total HP, and there was a 1 in 6 chance of performing the Desperation Attack after selecting Attack. I actually had no idea that was a thing until long after I finished the game, and never experienced it when I played Final Fantasy VI.
Graphics:
Out of all the Final Fantasy games, I have to say that this one has not aged well. It has the worst graphics of the entire series. The battle and cinematic graphics are passable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Most of the graphics power seemed to be put in Tifa’s, uh, bosom.)
Tumblr media
But the characters in towns, the overworld, and in-game cutscenes are incredibly blocky. PC versions are supposedly sharper, but the PlayStation One version makes it nigh impossible to see any facial expressions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The graphics are definitely a product of its time. I always say that the beginning of 3D gaming was essentially like puberty – awkward and full of zits. It wasn’t yet at that stage where it could be aesthetically pleasing. We marveled about it when it was first released, yes, but then we cringed in retrospect.
The environment backdrops however are probably the strongest points, where they capture the industrial nature of Midgar, the reactors and other such buildings.
Tumblr media
Story:
Final Fantasy VII became legendary the minute Square released it. Every aspect was memorable. Part of it could be due to the fact that it was the first Final Fantasy game to enter the 3D realm. Another part was Tetsuya Nomura’s character designs, which hit the cool meter to the point of sub-zero.
Tumblr media
The cinematics blew our minds. The opening action scene with Cloud, Barrett, and the rest of AVALANCHE attacking Shinra’s mako reactor is the most memorable opening to a Final Fantasy game. Period. Final Fantasy games really do know how to start at the right spot, no matter how good or bad the overall game is. The opening is always the best part.
Then there was the motorcycle chase. Cid’s airship. The gun fights. Battles with Sephiroth. The extra stuff to find, like summons and extra bosses. So much was jam-packed into the game.
But the story was the primary factor in making VII famous. It’s definitely one of the better ones. Man, the story became so famous that even gamers who haven’t touched a Final Fantasy game knew the major spoilers. It is the equivalent to knowing Darth Vader’s line, “I am your father” without having actually watched Star Wars.
Aerith (Aeris in the English releases) Gainsborough – the innocent flower girl who holds the secrets of the Ancients – develops a romance with Cloud and fucking dies at the end of Disc 1 by the main villain – Sephiroth. The scene shocked everyone and practically made headlines. Everybody has seen the horrible image in one way or another.
Tumblr media
It seems to me that since Final Fantasy V, the stories have gotten more and more used to main character deaths, ultimately transforming into a heavy-hitting TV series rather than simply a video game series. In other words – it matured. Looking back, Final Fantasy IV appears to be child’s play and a prototype of later dramatic storylines with fully realized worlds.
Final Fantasy VII was also the first Final Fantasy game to create a world much like ours – one with cars and trains and airplanes and machine guns and even cellphones. The main city of Midgar reflects industrialization at its worst, with miles of slums and claustrophobic cities. Shinra Electric Power Company is a reflection of capitalism at its worst - a single entity in charge of so much that it’s pretty much the government. For the first time in a Final Fantasy game, you play as characters who dance between the morally ambiguous line of terrorism and activism. Funny enough, the theme of neglecting the planet resonates with us now more than ever. This game ended up being rather prophetic about the uncontrollable growth of corporations.
While the story is memorable with many intriguing elements, the plot itself is a tangled web. In my opinion, they really hashed in so many things that it’s easy to forget crucial details. It’s not straightforward, but at the same time everything does connect by the end. While Shinra is the driving force as a whole as the villain, Sephiroth takes over, then you learn about his backstory and then with the evil scientist Hojo and the extra-terrestrial Jenova and then “Weapon” and then the planet’s history and this and that and the other thing.
Tumblr media
If I were to put Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy VII together and contrast them, as many gamers do, I would find that Final Fantasy VII is the summer blockbuster and Final Fantasy VI is the Oscar winner. Final Fantasy VII started introducing the sappy romance subplot to the series. A love triangle forms among Aerith, Cloud, and Cloud’s childhood friend Tifa. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with having a love triangle, the writing is like watching middle schoolers trying to express their feelings. Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy IV treated any romance with dignity and realism.
But maybe I’m being a bit harsh. After all, Cloud Strife did go through some suffering as an adolescent. His backstory clearly drives his antisocial behavior, so that becomes a good arc.
The goofiest but memorable part of the story deals with Don Corneo and Wall Market and running around store to store doing tasks in order to free Tifa from Don Corneo. It ends with Cloud needing to cross-dress as a woman to get inside Don’s mansion. Because, you know, it’s not like Cloud can just break in with his sword and Aerith’s magic or anything like that. But whatever. It’s anime.
The recent Final Fantasy VII Remake for the PS4 seems to streamline the story, and actually enhances the emotions they were trying to deliver in the original. I will be talking about the remake in a separate post altogether since I’m almost done with it at the time of this writing. But there’s a lot that I want to say about comparing and contrasting the remake and the original.
The latter half of the plot takes a couple weird turns. At one point, Cloud became catatonic and confined to a wheelchair.
Tumblr media
That part of the game became the sluggish part for me. Sephiroth also tries to confuse Cloud, which confused me. Cloud apparently suffers from some alternate subconscious mumbo-jumbo and like. . .ungh. I get an aneurysm thinking about it sometimes.
Complicated plotlines like Final Fantasy VII start showing up from here on out in the Final Fantasy series. The trend of bishonen characters also begin here, bishonen being the Japanese term for “beautiful boy.” Cloud and Sephiroth have that look. The series starts hashing in sappier romances and much more of an anime feel.
Final Fantasy VII ultimately marked the start of a new era for the series – introducing both cool and overused tropes.
Music:
Hands down the best Final Fantasy soundtrack of all.
The entire soundtrack of this game is memorable. The opening tune, with its light twinkle when the stars show up, is enough to make any gamer know exactly what that’s from.
With a story set in a more modern world, we have music that is more modern. After Final Fantasy VI had a more serious and operatic score, Uematsu displayed his love of progressive rock here. The motorcycle chase incorporates a lot of synth, which was fitting for zipping through the streets of Midgar. However, Final Fantasy VII is the first Final Fantasy game without that familiar starting bassline for the battle them. The battle theme is instantly recognizable but also radically different from its predecessors. It’s dramatic and displays danger.
Meanwhile, the boss theme is one of the best boss themes in the series, or any video game really. It’s an electrifying progressive rock piece, and it’s my personal favorite boss theme.
youtube
The more instrumental pieces are somber, given the dreary atmosphere of the planet. The world map music is very different from its predecessors. It’s romantic one moment, soaring the next, and then dips into foreboding terror. I guess that sums up the story of Final Fantasy VII.
And we cannot leave out One-Winged Angel, which I will talk about below.
Notable Theme:
Without a doubt, One-Winged Angel – played during the terrifying final battle against Sephiroth – is the most memorable piece of music in Final Fantasy VII.
youtube
It may very well be the most popular song of the entire series. Nobuo Uematsu was inspired by Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. It’s a whopping 30 something minute classical piece. If you look it up on YouTube and browse through it, you can definitely note the similarities. However, Uematsu didn’t want some boring classical introduction to the piece. He wanted to add the destructive impact of rock. The theme has a very distinct stamping-your-foot-down quality to it.
I had noticed a certain piece-by-piece feel of the song and that’s exactly how Uematsu composed it. This is the only song that Uematsu has composed where he created several tunes in his head and then rearranged them to make a single comprehensive song.
If you want to get technical, One-Winged Angel is the first Final Fantasy song with lyrics. The chorus sings in Latin about Sephiroth’s burning anger, with some lyrics actually taken from the medieval poem Carmina Burana. It sounds fantastic when fully orchestrated.
In Advent Children, the animated sequel to Final Fantasy VII, the music is accompanied by hardcore metal. This new rendition really illustrates the destructive power of Sephiroth. Uematsu changed the lyrics for Advent Children. They are more original now. I specifically noticed the lyrics “Veni, veni, mi fili”, which translates to “Come, come, my son.” Sephiroth is inviting you so he can kill you.
youtube
Uematsu has stated that the original orchestration didn’t sit well with him. As I suspected, Advent Children’s hardcore metal version is the one he preferred, the one he would have composed had he the technology at the time of Final Fantasy VII.
Verdict:
Another must-play for any RPG fan, even if you think it’s overrated. It’s a must-play because of its popularity, in the same way that people are wide-eyed when you say you haven’t seen Star Wars or such-and-such other popular movie. It’s a whole lot of fun, especially in the scenes that involve other forms of gameplay, such as the motorcycle chase and even a battlefield strategy game in protecting Fort Condor.
Direct Sequel?
Yes – first there was the CGI movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
Tumblr media
I actually watched Advent Children before playing Final Fantasy VII. I had already known most of what happened in the game and Advent Children became a monumental craze when it first came out. Everybody was talking about it. Watching the sequel before playing the game skewers your interpretation of things. My first impression of Cloud was that he was always whiny and angsty, and meanwhile Tifa kept nagging him to move on. I felt really bad for Cloud losing Aerith.
Then when I actually played Final Fantasy VII, I saw that Cloud starts as this badass mercenary. Tifa is spunky and clearly is the better choice (IMO) but Cloud is enamored by Aerith after only meeting her briefly. WHAT? Cloud. Bro. Make a move on Tifa, you nitwit. Tifa is AMAZING.
Tumblr media
Square Enix then continued the story with Dirge of Cerberus – Final Fantasy VII. This video game sequel focuses on Vincent Valentine, a fan favorite of the original game.
Tumblr media
Let me remind you about something – the original game revealed Shinra’s inner deep secret experiments, namely with Sephiroth and Jenova. Dirge of Cerberus introduces an even deeper research team within Shinra called Deepground. I don’t know about you, but it already sounds like the start of a terribly redundant string of sequels, like how the Jason Bourne movies keep revealing an even deeper level of conspiracy theories. Vincent’s mysterious background is now fully revealed. He is defined by – guess what? – another angsty lost lover story, this time with a woman named Lucrecia. Now, okay, look, maybe I’m just being a dick about these types of love stories. But when it keeps popping up within the same series in the same manner, I start asking if you have anything else to offer on your menu.
Lastly, there is the prequel for the PSP – Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Of all the games in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core has received the most positive reception. If anything, play that after playing Final Fantasy VII before bothering with anything else.
Tumblr media
Oh, and of course there is the Final Fantasy VII Remake, which we thought wasn’t going to happen for the longest time but they finally released it in April 2020. More on that later after I finish it, and after I post my entire series of Final Fantasy reviews!

ok what is black sails and where do i watch it
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Black sails is a tv show that encompasses the story of Captain Flint approximately two decades before the events of the book Treasure Island
Its a story about love, rage, war against civilization, piracy, and most important of all its a story about how stories come to be, it has such complex characters, all of them realistic in their own way, and it has some of the best characters arcs that ive ever seen on tv and i cannot, i cannot recommend it enough because it is a delight to watch
BUT ALSO IMPORTANT it can have a lot of triggering scenes!!!! Violence, blood, nudity, sexual assault in s1, so bear that in mind of you really want to watch it!!!
And i watched it on Netflix!!!!!! Its on Netflix spain but i dont know if its also on other countries (if not I Will Find It For You)
Please if you watch it come talk to me about it im sad i came this late to the party 😭

ok i feel like youve mentioned this before + i am not looking to get into dbz for a while but if i was going to (like selectively bc i do not have the patience for tv shows) whatre the best arcs and stuff i should look into?
THIS IS LIKE.. a lot of personal preference but something that is Not preference and is just fucking fact: if you want to watch dbz just watch dbz kai. original dbz is full of a lot of mistranslation, filler, and Bad Voice Acting and its suuch a pain to watch on your first run, you can def revisit it later but... dbz kai cuts down so many unnesecary episodes and is much better for the first watch
ALSO you don't need to watch original dragon ball!!! db has a lot of.. uh. Issues. and ive only seen very little of it despite being such a big dbz fan, but db & dbz are way different and dbz explains itself pretty well. you'll understand 99.99% of dbz w/o ever touching db, and the things you dont understand are probably just small references, so dont worry about that. apparently the last few arcs of db are good but id have to get back to you on that whenever i feel like watching
NOW FOR ARC STUFF!!!!! to be honest the only arc id reccomend skipping and then coming back to later if you wanna jump straight into the action is the raditz arc/early saiyan saga straight to the vegeta arc/later saiyan saga!
if you want to watch selectively id say maybe watch late saiyan saga for the setup, the last few episodes of the frieza/namek saga to get the whole super saiyan thing, and then to whatever you want next (which would just be cell or buu saga after that). im not like a huge "ururgh dont skip anything" type of person as much as i love db cuz i Get it but like. if you really want to jump in anywhere you CAN you just have to do some quick wiki reads before that so youre not totally lost. basically if you dont mind being a little confused jump in wherever the Fuck you want
as for best arcs... i am biased towards the like. Entire 'cell saga' (so future trunks + androids + cell games) obviously. it certaintly has its weirdness (cough toriyamas tail vore kink) but like. its so good. its so good to me, cell is such a fun villian and the little things you can look into in the episodes are just.............. I REALLY LOVE IT ALL
the majin buu arc or like. the entirety of the final chapters bc thats basically what it is is ALSO really good there are SO many good fights and fusion comes in here so its all around a fun time but its something i would say to watch after youve already watched some of basic dbz? just some of the character points and stuff hit a little harder if you know things the characters have gone through before. but again you can really jump in anywhere.  im sorry if literally none of this makes sense and im sorry if this doesnt rlly narrow it down dbz just has like. long arcs and i love it all. i dont often make sense when i speak abt my hyperfixes liv laugh lov <3

I’m supposed to be writing a paper, here I am writing more for Endgame. I needed this - It’s my only way of coping. Thank you for the feedback, and enjoy!
CONTAINS ENDGAME SPOILERS - I WILL FIGHT FOR TONY STARKS RIGHT TO BE LOVED UNTIL I AM DEAD
Tag: @robertdownyjrs
***
“When I come back, you better be here.” His words are spoken with fervor, a desperate promise that he needs you to be able to fulfill. You are the only person in Tony Starks life who has been there since the start, the only one who stayed, and the one he vowed to spend the rest of his life with.
You have to be there when he comes back from Titan, because he might literally call it quits if you aren’t. You have to.
Your reply comes in a searing kiss that quite literally makes him weak in the knees. “I already told you, you idiot.” You whisper as you force yourself away from him, lips hovering over his own so closely that he almost wants to take you right then and there. “I love you too much to leave.”
And unfortunately, he loves you too much to stay, and that is what prompts him to board the ship that will take him to Titan.
Given what happened during the Civi War between your fiancé and Steve Rogers, you’d give anything to be with him on Titan instead of protecting the outskirts of Wakanda. Steve has vowed to look after you - whatever that means - and somehow lost track of you after the battle, completely oblivious to the fact that you decided to remain with Thor. You and Thor had grown rather close over the last 8 years and often spent time training together when he came to Earth because of the similarities with your powers.
Your darker nights, the ones where you cried until you couldn’t anymore, were spent in the safety of Thor’s bedroom at the Avengers Compound. Steve still fulfilled his duties and checked in on you just as he had promised he would, but he never went further than that. The man knew you didn’t trust him, and with good reason.
It’s mere days after the Snap that you feel it, the tremble beneath your feet as you indulge Thor by telling him stories about your life. It distracts you from the lack of Tonys presence, and it distracts him from wallowing in his misery brought upon by the losses he’d endured.
“Y/N!” Your gaze flickers upward as Steve sprints into the room and urges you out the bedroom door to the main yard, where a massive ship is being carried by a glowing woman who you are unfamiliar with. She sets it down with ease and meets your gaze, and you give her a firm nod in thanks.
The hangar door opens, and all the blood drains from your face. The air crackles with static electricity from where you stand before Steve, Natasha, Bruce and Rhodes, completely paralyzed as you watch the occupants of the Benatar file off into the open night.
Your eyes flutter shut as you resist the urge to sprint across the clearing and jump into his arms. It’s something you’ve had to learn to control, but just seeing Tony standing there actually speaking to Steve sparks something deep within you that urges you forward and across the clearing.
  “Y/N?”
Aching arms fling outward to envelop Tony Stark in the most bone crushing hug he’s ever experienced, and it takes all of his willpower not to crumble in your embrace as you whisper in his ear. “Home. Home. Home.” His hands sink into the tresses of your hair, breath ghosting over your skin as he hides his face in the crook of your shoulder.
The other Avengers don’t bother to pry the two of you apart, not after what you’ve been through. There was no possible way of moving through the despair and anguish without people. Or more specifically, the people you love.
“When you need an anchor, you count to three.” In the midst of Tony learning to deal with his anxiety, you’d given him a solution. Of course it had come in the most unconventional way - seated at the bar - and drunk enough to make your head spin. But he was here, warm and alive, and so very... very real. “Count five things about me. Anything goes. Physical traits, things you love about me, things I’ve taught you. If it helps you cope with whatever is plaguing that beautiful mind of yours..” Your fingers curled around the curve of his jaw and brought his eyes up to yours, thumb dragging across the apple of his cheek to settle in the divot of his lips. “You do whatever it takes.”
“One, hands that have held my heart since the day you stumbled on my front porch when I was 7 years old.”
He tries to make nice with Steve, he really does. But after being left for dead in Siberia and alone in the fight against Thanos, Tony holds a considerable amount of resentment for that very same man who had once said that if they were to lose, they’d do that together too.
You’re always lingering in his line of sight when things go awry, and just as he suspects, you are immediately at his side when he rips the IV from his arm and stumbles in Steves direction. Fury courses through his blood and despite the fact there are stars dancing behind his eyes, Tony still rips out his arc reactor and slams it into the hands of Steve Rogers.
It’s only when his knees give out from beneath him and he lands on the floor that the second thought comes, when he looks up into your eyes and sees the terror lurking within them just before he slips into unconsciousness.
“Two, even when I am least deserving, you are always there. Always lingering for that moment when I need you most desperately, and present when I fall to my knees.”
Recovery is never easy, but having someone there when you wake up makes it just a bit more bearable.
Shaking fingers extend outward as Tonys eyes slowly flutter open, blinded by the light of dawn as he struggles to adjust to the brightness. His eyes follow the billow of the curtains at the open windows and slowly travel the length of the incredibly bland medical wing up until he catches the TV - where his favorite TV show is softly playing in the background.
His fingers tighten in the mess of hair laying limply at his bedside. You sleep at Tonys side with your hand loosely wrapped around his calf, almost as if its your only security that he’ll be there when you wake up. Eyes drift over the curve of your parted lips, breaths coming slow and steady. Tony hasn’t seen you sleep so hard since you were younger.
When life was a little bit easier.
“Y/N?” His voice rumbles low in his chest, and its enough to jolt you upward at the sound. Tony nearly topples over the side of the bed because his hands are still tangled in your hair, and the sight of the shock written all over his expression is enough to send you into a fit of laughter. “That was not funny-”
Your eyes soften as they meet his. “I have never been so happy to see your eyes open in the forty some years we’ve known each other.” You whisper. He can see the reluctance to open up when you dip your head toward your chest, extending your hand outward into the open in hopes he will oblige and take it.
He does.
“I nearly lost you, Tony. All this time after Thanos snapped.. I really believed you were dead. And do you know how disheartening it is to be stuck in another country with people you once called family, left behind by your husband with your only company being the God of Thunder?” You settle a knee into the mattress and bring yourself up to hover over him as he lays supine beneath you. “Seeing everyone disappear, screaming so loudly to someone who might hear me to keep you safe.. I have never experienced true fear like that. Fear of believing that you would never come home.”
That’s when thought number three comes. Trapped in the cage of your arms, breath ghosting over his face and sunshine reflecting in your eyes. He realizes right there, in that moment of silence, that your presence is the only home he has ever known.
And that despite your darkness and your regrets, despite his failures to both you and the greater good, you will never part from his side willingly. You are here and real and you are never leaving. It’s the best freakin’ news he’s heard all day.
  “Y/N, I need-”
  “What do you need?”
Tony swallows the knot in his throat and lets his tongue dart out to wet the cracked flesh of his lips. “I need you to kiss me.” It’s spoken with the same desperation you heard before he boarded his ship for Titan. That same desperation that pours from your own mouth when he tries stumbling down a path you can’t follow him on. “Please.”
It’s hard to pick a word to describe that moment - that moment of solitude where it’s nothing but you and him. How you succumb to his desires and lower yourself on top of him, careful of aggravating his injuries. He arches his back into you as you claim his mouth with your own. Hot, heavy, full of need and the ability to convey the fierce loyalty the two of you held for one another since the day you’d met as young children.
  “What about you?”
  “What about me?”
Tony swirls a single finger around the rim of his glass as you pour yourself another. “Whenever you need a anchor, what will you count to?” You believe he thinks something absolutely ridiculous, like 72 or 191. Something completely unrelated to what you’ve just said.
“I’ll count to three too, but for me it’ll be in the moments we pull together instead of apart. When I need you the most.. when I need to breathe, I’ll count to three.”
His tongue breaks past the seam of your lips and his hands tangle in your hair, and if you listen quietly enough, you can hear someone whimper. You don’t know if it’s him or you.
It’s only when you are forced to pull apart for air that you whisper, “Three.”

PREFERRED NAME — nora. i think i started going by it in like, 2009?? my full name is eleanor but i hated it n thought it was way too pretentious n i never felt like it fitted me so when i started writing on forums i decided i’d be a nora rather than eleanor and then my school friends called me it and it just kinda stuck, the only person who calls me eleanor is my mum
PRONOUNS — she / her / ethereal being beyond comprehension
AGE — 23 but i tell everyone im 21 because even tho time is literally fake im desperately clinging to that fleeting thing we call youth trying to catch it like smoke in my hands

NAME A RANDOM ROLEPLAY THAT STICKS OUT IN YOUR MEMORY — me n my friend ellie made this really cool group the summer before we left for uni which was loosely based on a concept mentioned mayb once in the divergent series, but it gave us loads of freedom to make it our own thing. it was called the fringe n it was like..... this dystopian society where people with different genes were cut off from the rest of society n lived in overrun slum cities where different groups had like, a monopoly over weapons, produce, etc.... my character jack was the leader of this lost-boy-esque tribe called the wolf pack who were hunters n used to run across the rooftops wearing the skins of animals they’d killed and engage in tribal rituals with sacrifices to the gods n shit. sounds lame but everyone there was so invested in their character arcs that it was a shame to see it go. but ! it kind of reached its end point so we blew it up w nukes n they all died. tragic.
WHAT WEIRD ANIMAL WOULD YOU HAVE AS A PET IF IT WAS REALISTIC — a fox?? do ppl keep foxes? idk i’ve always just felt a sense of connection w them like when a fox stares at me im like this shit is life i am living and breathing in this bitch.... visceral

WHAT TV SHOW DID YOU RECENTLY BINGE? — im not a big binger bc i find it jst makes me depressed if i watch tv all day but im nearly finished stranger things season 3 n i recently finished euphoria (big rec but proceed w caution as quite triggering content)
FAVOURITE QUOTE — cool girl speech from gone girl. but also “there’s something dangerous about the boredom of teenage girls” i know its like.... such an overused quote but it really encapsulates this kind of feral girlhood that a few of my characters like bridget n greta have tapped into. i also loved the line “i feel like i could eat the world raw” from song of achilles, that really captures this kind of.... pure n childlike enthusiasm tht i wanna achieve w rory
LINK TO A VINE THAT EXUDES YOUR ‘ENERGY’ — this is my energy completely am always covered in glitter n staring broodily out of the windows of ubers at 4am like im in the sad bit of an indie film
DO YOU WRITE OUTSIDE OF RP? WHAT DO YOU WRITE? — uhh.... not as much as i shd.... i want to be a writer so i shd be makin some effort to get my stuff Out Into The World but im just not.... lol. ive done a lot of poetry collections . i wnt to finish a novel @ some point too.
THREE YOUTUBERS YOU STILL TRUST — bold of you to assume i trust any youtubers
A CELEBRITY CRUSH THAT JUST WON’T QUIT — id literally die for saoirse ronan n timothee chalamet :/ chance perdomo also owns my ass.
EVER MEET A CELEBRITY? SHARE YOUR STORY — i once high-fived dani harmer, the actress who played tracy beaker. today my sister text me tryin to make me guess what celebrity she just saw on holiday in wales and for ages she let me think it was timmothee but it was actually bradley walsh from the chase :/
WHAT’S YOUR PICTURE-PERFECT NIGHT? — i am in a bomb ass crop top and mini skirt, several scrunchies in my hair, glitter all over my face, wearing cowboy boots. we eat dinner in a trendy but affordable pub that doubles up as a cocktail bar n then we drink zombies or sex on the beaches n go to a rave where everyone is on the same wavelength n i share drugs with girls in the toilets and we swap numbers knowing we will never text each other but its ok bc in that moment we feel like we are soulmates and everyone is super drunk n touching everyone else n its all very visceral and we walk through the woods when the rave ends and lie in the grass because we wish to suck out all the marrow of life
A CONSPIRACY THEORY YOU KINDA BELIEVE IN — princess diana was murdered
ARE ALIENS REAL? — maybe the real aliens are the friends we made along the way
PLAY ANY PHONE GAMES? WHICH ONES? — love island game im addicted and way too invested in my fictional relationship with bobby, a cartoon
WHAT’S A FILM YOU LOVED WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG AND RECENTLY WATCHED, ONLY TO FIND OUT YOU DON’T ANYMORE — bold of u to assume i remember my childhood. but if we’re talking last 10 years angust, thongs n perfect snogging is so so cringe

what's this? a deprivation verse entry? over a year since the last one? well, it must be someone's birthday!
... @jomeimei421‘s birthday, to be precise. Mei requested an exploration of Wash's nightmares AGES ago, and I've been saving it for a special occasion, and so here you go!
Happy birthday Mei, you dancing queen you! <3
Warnings for: violence, captivity, electrocution, and nightmares, as well as the broader universe warnings that continue to be around!
From the beginning
Also on Ao3
Wash has only been back with them for a short while when they figure out that Wash has nightmares.
The problem is, of course, what to do about them.
It’s horrifying, watching Wash sleep.
Tucker had bunked with Wash for months, back in that canyon in the fucks-forsaken jungle, back at the crash site, before everything went so horrifically wrong.
Wash had nightmares. Wash woke up yelling and swinging at whoever dared to wake him up. Wash woke up on the floor in a tangle of sheets more than once, and even when he didn’t, the sheets were a knot every morning from all of his tossing and turning.
Wash… doesn’t sleep like that anymore.
Those first few nights, they’d kept him in the infirmary, under Doctor Grey’s observation.
Tucker sits on the uncomfortable hospital chair, staring at Wash, trying to catalogue everything he can.
There’s more grey in Wash’s hair, there’s new scars, the dark circles under his eyes look like they’re permanent now, and there are new lines of stress carved into Wash’s face.
But it’s still Wash.
Wash turns his face towards Tucker, steely grey eyes flickering around the hospital room uncertainly.
“I know you hate hospitals Wash,” Tucker says, because they’ve had this conversation before, a long time ago, back before Valhalla, even. “But try to sleep, okay?”
Wash rolls away from Tucker, not even putting up a fight or a noise of protest, and yeah, death was too good for Locus, there’s no doubt about that.
Grey calls Tucker away eventually, to check on his own injuries. Caboose takes his place in the chair, because honestly, none of them want to leave Wash alone.
After Grey has been convinced that no, Tucker did not lose any limbs or enough blood to warrant a transfusion and after she’s cleaned up his scrapes and threatened him with a scalpel until he went and took a shower with only a minimal amount of flirting, far too much time had passed. Sure, Tucker admits, he did badly need that shower, but the whole time he’s standing there, he’s just thinking about Wash, and wanting to get back to the hospital to make sure he’s still there, still alive, still with them.
Tucker races through his shower and then puts his underarmor back on, because fuck if he’s going to go back to his room to get his clothes and spend more time away from Wash, and then heads back to the bed.
Wash is asleep—the heartbeat monitor, which Sarge has obliging programmed to make the beeping noises like on TV to keep track, because otherwise Caboose gets nervous if it’s quiet, tells Tucker so.
“Hi Tucker,” Caboose says, in the closest thing he has to a whisper.
“Hi Caboose,” Tucker says, pulling up yet another one of those chairs—are they uncomfortable on purpose? Is that a thing? “Caboose, have you eaten yet?”
Caboose looks guilty. “Well, but Tucker, Wash hasn’t eaten—”
“He’s on an IV drip right now, Caboose. Seriously, go get some food. I’ll stay with him.”
It takes him half an hour more to convince Caboose, and in the end, Tucker ends up having to call Church and Carolina for reinforcements. But in the end, Caboose leaves for the cafeteria, and Tucker is left alone with Wash and his thoughts.
“Wash—I’m—” Tucker whispers, bowing his head. “Fuck.”
This shouldn’t have happened. None of this should ever have happened.
This whole planet is a fucking disaster, and everything that’s happened since they’ve arrived here is the worst.
“I’m sorry,” he says, finally, even though the steadiness of the heart monitor tells him that Wash can’t hear him. Wash is asleep, and he’s battered and silent and was wearing the fucking Meta suit, but he’s back with them, and they’re going to figure this out, one way or another.
Tucker puts his head in his hands and just… listens, to the sound of Wash’s breathing, steady and almost familiar, and the blip and beep of the monitor, and the distant sound of Grey moving through her rounds. It’s almost hypnotic, the way that the sounds all blend together, and Tucker’s been awake for over a day, now, with everything that’s happened, and…
Well, it couldn’t hurt to close his eyes for a moment, could it?
The heart monitor’s spike in volume and speed has him on his feet in an instant.
“Wash?”
Wash’s breathing is sped up, coming in short, painful sounding pants, his jaw locked so tightly that Tucker thinks he can hear his teeth grinding. His eyelids are fluttering, his eyes darting back and forth, his fingers twitching frantically, as if he’s trying to do something—
But his hands stay firmly at his sides, and nothing louder than a whimper escapes Wash’s mouth.
Tucker doesn’t even stop to consider what Locus and Felix must have done to Wash, to make him like this, to make him quiet and still and compliant instead of tossing and turning and screaming and hell, even occasionally stabbing in response to his nightmares, but instinct takes over, and Tucker grabs ahold of Wash’s wrist.
“Wash!”
Wash’s eyes fly open, giving Tucker a glimpse of two circles of grey ringed entirely in their whites, and Wash sits upright, and then immediately flinches, as if expecting to be struck.
“Wash, it’s okay,” Tucker says, reaching for Wash, who’s staring at him like he’s never seen him before, and Tucker’s stomach is in revolt at the wrongness of this whole scene.
Even the time that Wash had stabbed him, Wash had never been like this. Then, Wash had been hoarse from screaming, had kept his back to a wall, but he’d also been ready to fight or flee, been practically prepared to run screaming from Blue Base in nothing but his pajamas or fight his way out if Tucker had decided to take offense at said accidental stabbing.
Now, he’s just… sitting there. Watching Tucker with those wide, steel eyes, waiting for something to happen, prepared to take it without complaint or resistance, whatever it was that Tucker will dole out.
It’s sickening and terrifying, and Tucker wants to run away this time, because this isn’t right, nothing about this is right, fucking Chorus, fucking Felix, fucking Locus, fucking Freelancer, fucking every single last circumstance that led them to here, in this room, in this situation, with Wash perfectly still and silent, as if expecting to be slapped for having a nightmare.
Tucker presses his hand against Wash’s face, and Wash leans into it immediately, the heartrate monitor slowly returning to something that sounds reasonable, and Tucker tries his best to get his own heart under control.
Felix is the one who gets tired of Wash screaming in his sleep.
“If you don’t shut up, I’m going to seal up your mouth with tape,” he threatens. “Maybe your nose too while I’m at it, because if I wake up in the middle of the night because you can’t handle things, I’m going to—”
“Felix,” Locus reprimands, and Felix drops Wash to the ground to cradle his throat. Bruises shaped like armored fingers are blossoming there, and they’re going to hurt for a good long while.
“Fuck—you,” Wash hisses out, even though he knows he’s going to pay for it.
Sure enough, Locus’s armored boot collides with his diaphragm, and Wash’s back slams against the wall of his cell, leaving him sick to his stomach, winded, and bruised.
“He’s not supposed to talk, let alone at night,” Felix whines to Locus. “Surely there’s something we can do?”
Locus pauses, and Wash’s blood runs cold at the considering tilt to is helmet. “I suppose.”
The next day proceeds as normal—Felix is gone, off doing whatever it is he’s doing when he’s not tormenting Wash or mocking Wash or needling Locus—but that doesn’t mean that Wash’s day is any easier. Wash almost hopes that he’s going to be left alone in his cell that night (he’s ignoring the back of his mind, which is already upset at the idea of being alone) when Locus comes into his cell with a strange pad.
“Your new sleeping arrangement, Washington,” Locus says, and wow, Wash hates him.
Wash isn’t left cuffed in his cell very often, but tonight, Locus cuffs his arms to the wall as he’s lying down on the pad, making sure that Wash can’t leave it.
“Remember, Washington,” Locus says, before he leaves. “Not a sound. And stay still.”
Wash has slept in worse positions, he tells himself, even though he doesn’t allow himself to dwell on those times in Recovery, in the hospital, in the desert with the Meta. He just forces himself to close his eyes and try to sleep.
His hands are covered in blood, and he knows, somehow, exactly who’s blood it is, and it’s Tuc—
The electric shock that pulls him out of his sleep causes him to cry out again, which electrocutes him again, and Wash bites his tongue after the third time, his breath coming through his nose in heavy pants as he tries to calm down.
“Not a sound,” Locus’s voice says, from far too close, and it’s dark in his cell, and Wash kicks out, his foot leaving the pad and—
Every inch of his body is on fire, arcing off the pad, his tongue is bleeding with the effort it’s taking not to scream.
“Stay still,” Locus says, and Wash locks down his limbs, until the only sound left is his own heartbeat, racing in his ears.
He stares up at the dark ceiling.
He can’t escape his captivity, even in his sleep, it seems.
Wash closes his eyes and goes to sleep again, knowing, deep in his bones, that he’s going to be woken up again soon.
There’s a comfort, to not sleeping alone, these days.
It’s not always Tucker, but it usually is, just because it’s an easy pattern to fall into, even as slowly, Wash pulls himself back together.
Spending the night with Grif means spending the night with Simmons as well, and now that Wash is a little more aware, with more of his pieces back in place, he’s more reluctant to introduce, when Carolina or Caboose or Sarge or Donut are all there, willing to keep him company, even if each of them have their own methods.
Carolina sleeps with her back pressed against his, a show of trust on both of their parts, and, if the nightmares get too bad, it’s becoming easier and easier as the days go by, to reach over and grab her hand in the middle of the night, knowing that, no matter how asleep she is, she’ll squeeze back.
Caboose wraps Wash in his entire body, his chin propped on Wash’s head, and it’s great, except for the occasional drooling. But it’s warm and enthusiastic and soothing, and Wash really can’t ask for more, not from his teammate and friend.
Sarge sleeps with his shotgun on one side and Wash on the other and is proud when Wash puts his pistol under his pillow or sticks a knife in the wall for easy access in the morning, unlike the others. Despite proclaiming loudly to be “not a cuddler, goddamnit Grif! A man’s got some dignity!” Wash wakes up with Sarge sprawled across his chest more often than not.
Donut… has way too many pillows, and honestly, Donut, it’s not an insult that Wash moved to the floor, he just likes not drowning in feathers!
(Tucker and Donut were both proud of him for asserting himself, and when Wash spends the night with Donut after that, he gets out the sleeping bags and declares it a sleepover instead of addressing the somehow impossibly fluffy bed that Donut has managed to get in the middle of a warzone.)
But…
Tucker’s side is still the most comfortable. They spend most nights in Wash’s room, where Caboose has put glow-in-the-dark-stars on the ceiling, and there are blankets upon blankets, because Wash is always cold these days, and he falls asleep with Tucker’s arm thrown over him, and his body pressed against his back, and when he wakes up screaming, all Tucker ever does is hang onto him tighter.

How Batman Evolved During Tom King's Run
https://ift.tt/2Pxp0je
Bruce Wayne's adoptive father is the key to Tom King's conclusion to his run on Batman.

This Batman article contains spoilers.
Tom King did the impossible. In a comics industry founded on the bedrock principle that only the appearance of growth should ever be shown, he’s told a massive, three-year, 85-issue story that has Bruce Wayne actually develop as a character.
With Alfred’s death earlier in the final story arc, "City of Bane," many would have expected Bruce to shun his supporting cast and dedicate himself to revenge, leaving Gotham littered with shattered criminals as he pushed his grief through his fists and his enemies’ faces. But that’s not what happened.
We got a chance to talk with King about character growth, how his epic tale developed, and what’s next for Batman, Catwoman, and King himself in the DCU.
Den of Geek: You talk about Vision, Omega Men, and Sheriff of Babylon being a thematic trilogy, right?
Tom King: Yeah.
Can we look at Mister Miracle, Heroes in Crisis, and Batman the same way?
Oh yeah, 100% yeah. That's what I think of it. Yeah. I'm glad someone noticed.
It's about heroes managing trauma, right?
It is. I call it the Trauma Trilogy. That's just too easy, maybe. I feel like the first story about my war experience and [the main characters of each book] were all someone naively going into a situation and finding it much more complicated than they thought. And then these three were all about, I’ve said this publicly a billion times, about this nervous first-season-of-the-Sopranos breakdown I had in 2016 when I first started on Batman, and sort of how I recovered from that. And I sort of wrote it three different ways. Yeah, it's like some fancy dish, you know. The Trauma Trilogy.
Read More: How Batman Will Change in 2020
So the breakdown in 2016 happened after you had already started on Batman. How far is what ended up on the page drifted from what you initially conceived it to be?
I mean it's pretty close. There's some stuff that didn't quite pan out. Batman isn’t like a series like Mister Miracle or our upcoming Strange Adventures that we're doing. You have to write Batman with some degree of compromise because it's a much bigger platform and overlaps a lot of other books. You have a lot more eyes on it in terms of editorial control. And so yeah, it wasn't entirely a straight line, but considering it was 85 issues of DC's best-selling comic, I think it was a lot straighter than I thought it would be in terms of going from one spot to another.
It was always supposed to be about a love story and that was there from day one. I remember talking about that with my first editor, Mark Doyle...being like, “What is this book about?” And me literally just searching and searching until I found an old clip of the Batman ‘66 TV show. It was just like, “Oh man, I love this." The Catwoman, Batman dynamic.
And it hadn't been in the books in a long time. Not since, like, Judd Winnick, New 52 stuff. So that part about it, the fact that it was just one big love story. That was the same and Bane was supposed to be the main bad guy. But the stuff with Flashpoint, Batman evolved as we went along. I'd say that's the thing that's evolved the most.
We talked that second arc, I think, about Bane, Catwoman, and Batman being three sides of the same shitty coin. But now with Thomas included in there, it feels like it's kind of four points on a graph, labeling each axis. You've got like Batman who had privilege but lost everything at a young age. You have Thomas on the other end who had everything for most of his life and then lost everything. You've got Catwoman, who was born into nothing and kind of hangs on to everything but keeps it at arms length. And you've got Bane, who kind of grabs whatever he can and crushes it to death. As Thomas evolved into this, does that sound like what you were thinking at all?
Yeah, I do think they all represent this idea of who's top of the mountain in their own way. I guess you could say who does Gotham belong to? Bane sees Gotham as a prize that he has to win. Thomas sees Gotham as a burden. For Catwoman, Gotham is just who she is and she's sort of queen of that city. And then for Batman, it's ... I mean that's what the whole question is. What does he mean to Gotham?
With Alfred's death, was it kind of a backdoor way of you taking a look at Bruce's origins? You know, using the death of a father figure to kind of shock him out of being Batman the way that he was shocked into being Batman?
Yeah, but it was also a way to show what the difference is between Bruce losing his parents when he was young and connected to them, and Bruce losing Alfred having been raised by Alfred. To me that was a tribute to sort of Alfred's parentage of Bruce for all these years and him guiding him through that trauma. Because you expect Batman in that moment to bury himself in anger and go insane and do all the things that drove him to be Batman in the first place. But instead of that, he hears Alfred's voice and he composes himself. To me it's sort of about the maturing of the character and maturing of it through the love of Alfred. I know I said this in the book, there are no good deaths. There's a nobility to death if you've treated your children right.

Well, I would quibble with that only because I think you could have killed Batman at any point in the last 85 issues and whatever was happening would have been a hell of a way to go. Right? Like he has a heart attack on a ferris wheel with Superman. That's a pretty okay way to do it.
Wait I did kill Batman! I killed him in annual number two.
Oh yeah! Yeah.
I gave him my ideal death. He dies instead as an old man surrounded by his family.
And that's the good death.
That's a good one. That's as best as you can do with no other choices.
After 85, it feels like that's kind of the direction, right? Batman for so long has been that traumatized little boy, to the point where it's almost a parody, and many of your predecessors have done something interesting with that. But it always feels like the traumatized little boy has been the dominant perception of him, at least in my adult life. Is this your way of kind of trying to push him through it?
The story of Batman is unending conflict. I'm sure whoever comes after me will embrace the Batman of their own and I bless him for doing it. I know James [Tynion IV, the writer taking over Batman with #86]’s stuff is going to be, from what I've seen, amazing. Batman's not a story that I have the power to end. I just kind of come in and take the reins for a while and then pass it onto someone else as brilliant as James and Tony [Daniel, the artist on the first arc].
But I can sort of, I don't know, tell my story. I don’t know, maybe I'm too old to write Batman. Frank was 29 when he wrote The Dark Knight Returns. I'm 41. But it seems like as you get older and you actually see your parents pass, you see your loved ones pass, you realize that everyone has to go through that trauma. Right? You sort of realize that it can become part of you and something you're proud of as well. The grief never leaves you. It never leaves Batman. It's a wonderful metaphor. But also there's a certain joy to that grief because it sort of unites you with your lost ones.
So hopefully, as you go on, you sort of mature into that. I hate to say that the greatest hero America's ever created, which is Batman, never got a chance to mature into it like the rest of us hopefully get to do. Yeah, I mean that's what that's about. He says, when I was a child, I did childish things and now it's time to grow up a little bit.

So the action sequences have been phenomenal through the whole thing. There have been some stellar fight sequences, especially Jorge [Fornes'] last ten issues. Every time he comes in it's incredible.
He’s ridiculous.
They've been phenomenal. When I think back on the run, what I think is going to jump out at me are going to be the quiet moments. The double date, 12 Angry Batmen, Bruce and Selina grabbing a beer and watching football at a bar. What do you think was about those quiet moments that let you make them sing?
I mean, the first thing is the art. All three of those things you mentioned, you've got Lee Weeks...there's not a lot of people who can draw a dynamic room with just 12 people talking. Clay Mann doing the double date. Just him elevating himself and becoming the best artist in comics while I was watching. And then Mikel [Janin]. I've been with Mikel for five years now since Grayson. He did the first Batman I did and he’s doing the last.
It's really hard. I mean, as dumb as it sounds, it's probably easier to draw a dynamic fight scene than a dynamic quiet scene. So those guys are doing the heavy lifting.
As far as the other stuff goes. You know, it's ... DC Fontana died yesterday, right? The Star Trek author, and she's famous for saying, “Star Trek is not about objects. It's about characters.” Like, that's her thing. If you're writing an episode of Star Trek, don't make it about the thing. Make it about the people's relationships. So I think that that's what those moments are about is we've had a lot of conflicts. Fantastic, amazing conflicts about things. But I try to make my conflicts about the characters. Just trying to follow what she told me to do. What she said. Not that I ever met her but I remember what she said to do.
So looking back, is there an issue that stands out in your mind as something that you just absolutely nailed? Like, it's the Batman/Elmer Fudd issue, right?
No, I hate it. [laughs] I love that issue, but there's two typos in it. It still drives me crazy. I'll never manage to get them to fix those. When I first got the comp finished, I threw in the trash I was so pissed. "Oh, I ruined this one. Oh well. I'll try again next time." And then I won awards for it, it was ridiculous.
All three of the annuals I really like. I like the dog story that David Finch and I did in the first annual, which was suggested by my daughter when she was like five.
And I liked the second annual, which has sort of the first dates and the beginning of the end of the Catwoman/Batman relationship. That annual's the jumping off point for the whole Batman/Catwoman series. So that's how much I like it, I'm trying to copy it.
And I like the fourth annual I did with Jorge, which was just sort of like a chance for me to do a thesis statement on what Batman is. And there was seven days of Batman in seven different genres and then it continued sort of forever. I like those three.

Similarly, is there an issue that you wish you could get another crack at?
Oh man, there's a ton of issues I wish I could ... I mean, I look at the dialogue and I’m like, "Oh, I could have done that better."
It took me a while to learn how to work with Joelle Jones, who's one of the most talented artists out there right now. And I think, I feel like I did a Wonder Woman issue with her and I feel like I wasted two of them first of all, because the story I wrote turned out to be very similar to a story that Joe Kelly had done. I hadn't read the story but I was very...I would have changed it if I had known. I sort of understood how to write for [Joelle] by Batman #44, which I think is really nice, but I think it's 39 and 40, the two Joelle Jones issues, I wish I could have another shot at doing well.
I really liked those.
TK: They're beautiful! They're drawn beautifully, but I don't know, we could have done something...it was really fine, but I feel like it could have transcended. I missed it.
I guess. The Justice League flirting between the two of them in the cartoon is high on my list of preferred pairings. So like the way that you played with that made me happy. Is there a character you feel particular ownership of now? Like if somebody comes in and changes Kite Man, are you going to throw the issue across the room and scream, "Fuck no, that's not how this is supposed to be done."
No, I think that's kind of silly. It's kind of like when you sign up for this gig, that's part of the agreement and coming into comics is realizing that this is a medium that extends to other people and no one has benefited more from that than me, who's twisted the work of Jack Kirby and Marv Wolfman and Bob Kane and Bill Finger for my own benefits. I feel like denying that to others would be hypocritical.
Gotham Girl's named after my daughter Claire. Claire Clover is her name. So I do like her. Like I have in my daughter's room a David Finch piece or a page that he did and a page that Clay Mann did they gave to me for her. So I like her because she's named after my daughter.
Wow. That's got to be pretty sweet.
I know. I try to tell her brag, brag to your friends! But does she brag?
Read More: Why Batman Still Matters
She'll get there. As soon as she shows up in a movie, everyone's going to be like, "Oh, you're so cool." Would you do it again? Marvel comes to you tomorrow and says, “We want a hundred issues of Spider-Man. Do whatever the hell you want.” Do you jump at or do you run screaming?
I don't remember anyone ever saying, do whatever you want with Batman.
Well, fair.
It never happened. Would I do it again? I mean I have no regrets about doing it. On many levels, I feel like I'm artistically satisfied with what happened. I feel like I made my career and made my life and I had fun.
But it's that second thing you said, the control of it. As I move forward, I kind of want to do, I don't know, like, I want to do super ambitious stuff and it's hard to do super ambitious stuff in that environment.
I feel like I got as close as I could get with [Batman]. I had a brilliant editor in Jamie Rich, huge support from Dan DiDio, but I don't know if I'll ever get that much again. Going forward, we'll see. But I just want to do something, I don't know, big and ambitious and literary and I don't know if that's possible anymore. If it is, I'll go.
You did the Sheriff and Omega Men and Vision Trilogy. You did the Heroes in Crisis Trilogy, or the Trauma Trilogy. Where are we going next?
Yeah, something new. I'm trying to move on. I'm trying to move on from fat middle aged men looking out windows, thinking about their lives. I think it'll be like another trilogy of books. It will be Strange Adventures, [Batman/Catwoman], and another book that hasn't been announced yet.
And all of this will be these 12-issue miniseries, like these little novels and they'll all be focused on a new, bigger theme. The way things develop when you're writing, you can write it one way where you're like, "I'm going to write about this theme," then you go write it. But when I do that, it just turns out shitty.
The best way I think to do it is just to write straight through so your unconscious mind brings it to the surface while you fight doing the same thing over and over again. So I'm not 100 percent sure these things are still forming as they form, but it's going to be a lot about all the shit that's in the news every single day.
As much as Mister Miracle was about sort of the trauma of looking around our current environment, thinking, "My God, this can't be real. I feel like I'm trapped here," Strange Adventures will be about how do we fight back this pernicious stuff that seems to surround us. And I think that's what Batman/Catwoman will sort of be about too.
Read More: The Actors Who Have Played Batman
So hopeful.
Hopeful is the wrong word because some of them are dead dark books. I don't feel hopeful right now. But I feel like, I don't know, it feels like we're in the middle of the war and you don't feel hopeful in the middle of the war, but you still feel like you'd have to fight. You know?
Yeah.
It's more about that feeling, not the feeling that, "Oh God, we're going to win." But the feeling of, "Oh God, we can't lose or else."
And Strange Adventures, I've read the first one and it's ... I couldn't love it more. It's 28 pages. Doc [Shaner] and Mitch [Gerads] are doing crazy new stuff you haven't seen in comics before, which I think is cool in terms of mixing the two arts together. The two, I don't know, styles or whatever.
I couldn't be more proud of it. I remember Garth Ennis famously saying that with The Boys, you out-Preacher Preacher. So we're going to try to out-Mister Miracle Mister Miracle, to steal from Garth.

Rewatching season 5 of Game of Thrones
Rewatching Game of Thrones
1. Dany has some sense, not 100% on the ball but still not quite up to last weeks standards. She's constantly being advised on how to rule and simply refuses to actually pay attention. She arrives in cities and just assumes she knows how to rule them even though all she has ever lead is the Dothraki. Poor Hizdahr zo loraq 🙁 he tries to advice her on how the city runs and she just won't have it. She threatens to feed him to her dragons purely on the grounds that he is the head of his family. She then tells him he is going to marry her and he doesn't have much choice as the alternative is being a dragons lunch. Dany also openly still sleeps and flirts with Darrio just making herself look ridiculous. Hizdahr still tries to educate her on how the city works and she thinks she knows better. Well the poor guy had a tragic end. Dany tells Tyrion when she meets him she has dragons and that's how she'll take Westeros, hint hint there. She also punishes people by burning them alive whether she knows if they are guilty or not. Dany never really learned to listen to advice. She didn't know how to rule because she never had.
2. Tyrion has some sense, he even said he trusted Varys more than anyone else 😑. He told Dany dragons were not the way to go when it comes to Westeros. He spoke sense nds seemed to stop her in her tracks when he asked her why the common people should support her at all.
3. Jon has what counts as sense for Jon. He brought the wildings past the wall. He was a good Lord Commander.
4. Say what you will be about Qyburn but that guy was loyal to Cersei, probably the best friend she ever had. His death by his own Frankenstein creation was very underwhelming. But he stayed loyal to Cersei to the very end.
5. Stannis just burned that wonderful angel Shireen!! 😭😭 And not one soldier stood up for her! Remember when Stannis was boring and even the characters thought he was borning? But he was the one who probably would have made the best king. He was going to make Jon a Stark. He even gave his ships to Jon to save the Wildlings. Stannis didn't want to be king, he simply believed he was the rightful heir and that it was his duty to take the throne. Remember he knew that Cersei's kids weren't Roberts. So his only legitimate rival would have been Dany and she wasn't around. Renly was a younger brother and therefore a usurper. I believe without Melisandre Stannis would have been much better and level headed, he was taken in by a fanatic. Without her? Renly would still be alive and so would little Shireen!
6. The Dornish plot was horrific!! What were those Sand Snakes? Prince Doran was so boring! He had the potential to be much more exciting. But all his scenes were just him talking. What he was talking about made sense, but he was ridiculous when it came to Elira Sand, he should have locked her up the moment she disrespected him and took it upon herself to send threatening messages to Kings Landing on his behalf. Prince Trystane wasn't much better, all he did was walk in the gardens with Marcella and then lounge around with an entitled, pompous look on his face. He met a crap end as well. They missed such a good opportunity here, in the books Doran has three children. The eldest is a daughter named Arianne and she is his heir. Dorne doesn't practice male primogeniture. Arianne believes that Doran wants his second son Quentyn to be his heir and Quentyn goes off to court Dany. If I remember correctly he believes he can just say hi to a dragon and he pays the price. Arianne then decides she wants to crown Marcella as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Marcella loses an ear at some point. That would have been way more interesting than what we got.
7. Poor Sansa 😭 watching her scenes with Ramsey is still so uncomfortable. But man she still sasses him! The girl has strength and I will stand up for her no matter what!
8. Ollie sucks! We get it his fam were killed by Wildlings, Tormund led the raid. Ollie should have a beef with Tormund then. But he doesn't under and neither do the majority of the Nights Watch that leaving the Wildings beyond the wall will result in more white walkers. It's simple math! Grudges don't mean a thing when you're all dead!
9. Sam got laid lol good for Sam! Also Ghost came and saved Sam from being beaten up and Gilly from being raped.
10. Remember when the Night King was an actual threat? 😂 Remember when Jon and him had the longest stare down in TV history? We all thought that meant Jon would kick his ass at some point. Yeah.... I'm all Team Arya and everything but really? All that for Arya whose arc never included the Night King to be the one who killed him?
11. I have one episode left to go on this season and I can't remember if ive even seen Bran??? That right there says it all.
12. Margery got cocky! She was stupid to antagonise and humiliate Cersei of all people.
13. Tommen was sweet but entirely useless. So easily manipulated by Cersei. He sat around crying that Margery, Loras and Cersei were locked up but didn't actually protest once when Margery was dragged away. Say what you want about Joffrey but he never let Cersei manipulate him after he became king. Joffrey would have done something.
14. Theon got over being 'reek' pretty quickly. Also in later seasons it seems to have been forgotten he's supposed to be missing fingers and toes.
15. I don't entirely disagree with everything the High Sparrow was on about. He wasn't wrong about the wealthy lording it over people. When he said we are many you are the few it's a lesson that still applies today but people don't realise it. Those in power are there because we put them there and we let them stay there. He was a fanatic on other things though.
16. Uncle Kevan Lannister is such an underrated character! He didn't recognize Cersei's non existent authority and left Kings Landing and her to it. Then he came back and dealt with things quite well while she was locked up. Kevan should have been around more.
17. Sooo Margery, Loras and Lancel didn't have to do a walk of shame but Cersei did??
18. Little Finger sucked ass! He sold and tricked Sansa and actually believed she would forget that?
19. Olenna Tyrell is the queen of sass!
20. Ser Allister Thorne was a nob to Jon Snow. But he believed in his duty. He obeyed Jon when he became Lord Commander, he didn't stand with or up for Janis Slynt when he ridiculed Jon. He could have kept that gate shut to Jon and the Wildlings. He even told Jon he had a good heart. What he did was wrong, the same thing applies here as it did will Ollie, bigger picture! But he died with dignity and he died for what he believed in.
21. Why did Roose Bolton have Ramsey legitimatzed? He knew he was getting married and that could result in a legitimate heir. So why run the risk of your psycho bastard son (who you know is psycho) killing your true born heir?

hey katie--could you do a ranking of all of the amber benson movies you've seen, from favorite to least favorite? :)
This is an EXCELLENT question, thank you, Clem! I took it a little too seriously maybe (and i’m a little drunk and long-winded), but you asked, so I’m giving a good answer ;)
I pulled out my handy dandy masterlist of Amber’s work and started categorizing her movies! (fun pic to clarify that i am the world’s biggest nerd)
Tumblr media
Also please note that these are just my opinions - I am by no means a film critic or an expert on anything, I’ve just seen a lot of Amber Benson movies!
Never seen: (if anyone has links, send em over please)Hollywood, PennsylvaniaLong Island Confidential
Not yet released: The Griddle HouseSelling IsobelThe Nightmare GalleryGlossary of Broken Dreams
Here’s where it gets fun!
Terrible:Act Your Age - this movie is not very good, and she’s hardly in it, so it gets a “terrible” ranking, yikes!
Meh all around (worst to best):The Blue Tooth Virgin - she’s in literally two minutes. i couldn’t watch the restDon’s Plum - i’ve only seen her parts! and apart from her face, i found them pretty unlikeable. :/ SFW - she’s in like ten minutes at the end. looking very adorable with round cheeks and round glasses. the rest of the movie is just okJack Reed (all three) - TV movies. She was SO YOUNG but she’s only in a couple scenes each. From what I’ve seen, they’re fine, nothing groundbreakingSimple Things - this is just bad, and she’s not really in it that much, but it could be worse. somehow. don’t ask me howKiss the Bride - again, i’ve only seen her parts, and they’re underwhelmingThe Crooked Man - so she plays a nice mom, and then she has a shotgun, and then she wears scrubs and gets murdered. she’s so pretty and tragic. but the whole movie is just…. so shitty and she’s only in 10 minutes of it. so it’s meh
Okay for plot, not for Amber:The Prime Gig - this is actually a pretty good movie! i enjoyed it. she’s really not in it much at all - definitely a background character, and she only has a few lines. but i sat through the whole movie and she looks super badass in her few appearances.Imaginary Crimes - another background character, but with many more lines this time. she’s very young and very adorable. another movie where i watched the whole thing, because it was good all around, and not just for her face!
Okay for Amber, not for plot: Taboo - oh my god, Taboo. I rewatch this all the time because she’s extra hot in it - she plays drunk the whole time, and at one point wears a nightie and a collar - but oh my god it’s so bad. the plot is weird, the dialog is stilted, the acting is so wooden. just a terrible movie, but with one hot amberIntermedio - see above! she had a broken foot when they filmed this, and is on crutches the whole time. her hair is super long and she wears a pretty short skirt. those are the biggest selling points…. oh and she gets chopped in halfTripping Forward - ugh, i kinda hate this movie, because the leading guy makes me feel uncomfortable. i just don’t like his face or voice or personality. but amber is beautiful and cool and has streaks of blue in her hair. honestly you should skip watching this movie and just look at the beautiful gifs maria made insteadHoliday Wishes - this is hard, because it’s pretty bad, but i want to like it! it’s a christmas movie, she’s in love with a ghost, there’s some body switching, ugh. the plot just really irritates me and i find different things to complain about every time. and whoever dressed her should be fired. but she’s pretty and she’s the lead actress, so that has to count for somethingOne-Eyed Monster - never tell amber this, but i don’t like this movie…. she really likes it so it makes me feel bad to dislike it :/ it’s about these people shooting a porno in the mountains. she’s the makeup artist. ron jeremy’s dick gets possessed by an alien, and it impregnates amber and kills everyone else. it’s so weird and so not my humor…. but amber loves is and amber looks great in it, so, watch it i guess? Attack of the Gryphon - this would be ranked better if the gryphon wasn’t so flipping bad! the cgi just ruins the whole thing. well that and the evil sorcerer’s weird slutty sidekicks. i dunno. amber plays a badass, sword-fighting princess, and at one point (where she’s kissing a mediocre guy) you can see her whole back, which is lovely. she does a cute accent too. this is ranked highest in this category because she worked so hard to do the accent, ride a horse, fight with the sword, etc, but she couldn’t save this movie. Pretty decent:Latter Days - a heartwarming film about gay love! amber isn’t a huge character but she’s good.Another Harvest Moon - another heartwarming one, this time about folks in a nursing home. amber has blue hair again (what’s with her and blue hair) and it’s very sweet! The Crush - just. iconic. watch it. she’s so little and it’s just a really really good filmDust Up - a slightly weird Western horror type movie. lots of gore and drugs. she is a total badass at the end. and holds a baby! mom!amber! Desire Will Set You Free - the biggest selling point is the lesbian sex scene. i don’t super love most of the movie, probably because i’m a boring old lady who’s not involved in the berlin gay party/drug scene. but her parts are excellent and she kisses a lady!!!! and protects a beautiful trans lady! she’s so good! King of the Hill - possibly her favorite film she’s ever worked on, and one of her first. it’s really good. young Jesse Bradford is the lead character. she’s got a small part as his neighbor. she got to dance with him and kiss him! and then have a seizure on the floor. she’s very good and the film as a whole is excellent. long and slightly depressing, or maybe just bittersweet, but definitely a good one. House of Demons - this is high on the list because i literally just watched it. she’s a hippie! who time travels! and she trips on acid! she’s very pretty and angelic, and the film has a really interesting premise. definitely will watch again. The Killing Jar - oh i unabashedly love this. she’s a small-town waitress who gets held hostage at her restaurant. no spoilers but she doesn’t die, woohoo, and is a lowkey badass. add her pretty face and southern accent and it’s just great.
Amazing:Can’t Hardly Wait - ok forget the fact that she’s in it for like two seconds, i fucking love this movie, it’s so goodBye Bye Love - tiny teenage amber and eliza! ahh i love this. another heartwarming one. she has a decently big role and she’s just so cuteChance - YES. love. so much respect for amber. she wrote and produced and directed and starred and edited. and kissed james marsters. and was amazing. go watch this! it’s on youtube! she’s incredible! Lovers, Liars, and Lunatics - all of the above (minus the kissing) but better. funnier and tighter. she’s an adorable clumsy burglar. it’s excellentStrictly Sexual - ohhhhh god oh god. she’s not the most likeable character but holy fuck is she sexy. there’s just…. a lot of sex and drinking and smoking, a lot of excellent outfits, a lot of cursing, a lot of amber being to-die-for sexy and gah. plus she’s in the whole thing! as ¼ of the main cast! lots of sexy amber! Race You To the Bottom - !!!! i love this movie!!! so much!!!! she is just incredible. and it’s a good movie too! i mean again she’s not the most likeable, and neither is her love interest, but it’s okay because she’s so hot! and she’s again in the whole thing, but this time as ½ of the main cast, and therefore she gets almost ½ of the screentime and it’s so so so good7 Things To Do Before I’m 30 - MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE AMBER MOVIE. oh my god it’s just the most amazing thing i’ve ever seen. she’s so adorable through the whole thing, and she’s IN the whole thing! as the star! the lead character! the one who all the plot revolves around! !!!!! do you know how groundbreaking that is for an amber movie!!!! not to mention she looks SMOKING the whole time. i mean how many times have i reblogged the bikini scene??? watch it for that alone. you’ll start it for the bikini and then continue for the adorable love story and her character arc. oh my god just go watch this movie now
to anyone who read this whole thing… bless your heart. thank you clem for letting me yell about amber so much. i think ive spent my whole tumblr career building toward this ask. thank you thank you and i love you clem and i love you all and i love amber benson the most!!!!

What are Kaos's feelings for Feuriah? We know she loves him very much, but Kaos comes off as very aloof and disinterested. Naturally not everyone has to be a super romantic type and sure Kaos doesn't seem the type to be very affectionate through his ego, but really ive never seen any evidence that Kaos really cares about Feuriah beyond her being a good companion and minion. (there have been a few small instances i will admit)
They argue and bicker a lot, but most of the time they get along. They just aren’t super affectionate in front of others, Feur’s a LOT more subtle with little nips at Kaos’ cloak (gentle bites are a dragon’s way of little kisses, though she bites at his hood/shoulder instead of skin since metal+flesh not a good mix 8,D), nuzzles, deep purring (a sound mixed with a lion/tiger purr and alligator hiss/growl), and just being close and around him she’ll wrap her tail or wing around him protectively. Again, usually done in private when they’re hanging out watching TV or she’s doing all the fun paperwork of being Queen. Feur’s pretty reserved on reminding him that she loves him though, she prefers showing affection then telling.
Kaos... tries 8,D obviously he’s had zero experience. But after all they’ve been threw (blog canon have them together for like, 30ish years 8,D), they’ve rounded out to a chaotic (har har) but loving relationship. Kaos isn’t the best, nor near perfect partner (reminder, they actually aren’t married), he’s still VERY much flawed but after the Trap Team arc, he’s made more of an effort to stay Feuriah’s Emperor.
I’d honestly like to show them being a couple more, but I’ve always got like a MILLION things going on at once 8,D so with them, I’ve shown them more as a long term couple, where it’s more casual and relaxed. Again, they’ve been paired for like 30ish years, they’re more affectionate towards each other than ever before but they’re very comfortable and onto each other’s sheit more 8,D Kaos shown in the show/games is without knowing Feur, and he has to go through some serious character development, but it’s smoothed over all those years with rough patches.~Weird Hyenas

I was tagged by @lionheartedghost!
List 5 TV shows and answer the following questions, then tag 10 people to do the same.
i. Shadowhunters ii. Game of Thrones iii. Fullmetal Alchemist iv. The 100 v. Law and Order SVU
Who is your favourite character in 2?
Jamie Lannister, colossal dumbass. I’m obsessed with his redemption arc (or the arc as it should’ve been, and yes, I still have faith in GRRM to correct the wrongs of 8x04 and 8x05). For me, he is the embodiment of a classic Greek tragedy and there’s something incredibly compelling about that - the tragedy, the familial trauma, the knightly values, the battle between right and wrong, between love and duty ... all the good stuff.
My other favourite character is Sansa Stark because she is beautiful and intelligent and powerful and kind and a Survivor.
Who is your favourite character in 1?
Alec Lightwood. I love characters whose personal journeys involve chasing their own happiness and coming into their own as a leader, especially when they show their detractors wrong. Seeing Alec grow in confidence is special to me. And I love a powerful coming-out story.
What is your favourite episode of 4?
This implies that I can differentiate between any episodes of this God forsaken show. I did enjoy the season finale of season 2, with Bellamy and Clarke forced to make the impossible choice to save their people, together, but at the expense of so many others. I also really liked the episode in season 5 where they reunited after the 6 years apart ... my heart is weak.
What is your favourite season of 5?
Season 17. The eye contact. The shrewd and crooked smiles. The holy grail of Barisi episodes. The overflowing potential for more that was then cruelly dashed upon the rocks in seasons 18 and 19.
Who is your favourite couple in 3?
Royai is the og pairing for me. Doesn’t get better than “I will follow you, even into Hell”. Doesn’t get better than “Can I trust my back to that?”. Doesn’t get better than “Don’t go where I can’t follow”. The trust they share is Profound.™
Who is your favourite couple in 2?
Romantically, I’m a sucker for Braime, but we all know this. I love two people who bring out the best in each other, especially when that best is seen and understood by so few others. Jamie’s redemption arc is superb, and it’s because of Brienne that he is able to see his own self-worth and finally reacquaint himself with that vision of knighthood he sacrificed at age 17 in order to save King’s Landing. The respect they have for each other is paramount to why I enjoy them together.
Theonsa is my other favourite ship because I love a pairing built on shared tragedy, and who manage to overcome trauma together - that’s very beautiful and powerful to me, and Sophie and Alfie have brilliant yet subtle chemistry, all spoken in the eyes. I also enjoy the Jon/Sansa dynamic a lot, but then Jon’s characterisation was shot in the head in season 8.
What is your favourite episode of 1?
2x06 - Malec’s first date. The tentative flirting and the nervous energy and the Superior Kiss. 2x18 - the breakup episode because the flashbacks are gorgeous and the angst is THE GOOD STUFF. 2x10 is also a favourite because it’s very well acted and has more gravitas and consequence than a lot of episodes on this show. Honorary mentions to the end of 3x20 (spectacular), the Edom sequence in 3x21 (the hug! the surprise Jace/Meliorn! Izzy saving the day!), and the wedding scene in 1x12 (iconic).
What is your favourite episode of 5?
Heartfelt Passages (17x23) is probably my fave because (a) I love some pain and Dodds’ death on his very last day on the job hurts like a mf and (b) it has that 2 second scene of Barba and Carisi at the bar after the funeral, toasting their drinks, and the look in Barba’s eyes is ... something else, okay? It’s so soft and curious and you can feel how safe he feels with Carisi and ... it should’ve been a stepping stone for something more in season 18.
Some other episodes I like are Manhattan Transfer/Unholiest Alliance (good Carisi character development), 911 (first time I watched it, I was on the edge of my seat), and literally any episode that is Benson-focused, like the William Lewis arc (Liv seems to get kidnapped or caught in hostage situations so often but they’re always SO GOOD).
What is your favourite season of 2?
Season 6 was some good stuff (especially coming out of the shithole of season 5). It had a lot of fan service (the R+L=J reveal, Bran’s time travelling, Hodor, Jamie and Brienne reuniting, Sansa finally escaping and finding Jon, Cersei pulling out all the stops to get rid of the Tyrells at fucking last, Yara flirting with Dany, and the entire BOTB sequence), but the writing still made sense and I still had hope for some clever twists hahahahaha
How long have you watched 1?
I binge watched season 1 in May 2016 when I was living abroad and feeling a little lonely. The show really came into my life at the perfect time.
How did you become interested in 3?
I watched the ‘03 series way back when (around 2007, I think?) and then got heavily invested in the manga, followed by Brotherhood. Honestly, it is without a doubt the best and most pitch-perfect story that has ever been told. I was immediately absorbed in Team Mustang and their dynamic, and who doesn’t love some political subterfuge with a large splash of religious symbolism that ends with a fist fight against God?
Who is your favourite actor in 4?
Bob Morley. He’s so endearing in real life and he is such a good role model in terms of mental health activism and surviving depression/anxiety.
Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?
Ask me three years ago, and it would’ve been GOT. Sadly, season 8 happened.
Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?
Purely because there are more FMA episodes in existence ...
If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
I feel like I connect most with Clarke, but if I could be anyone, I’d be Raven because she’s hot and smart and is played by Lindsey Morgan and what more is there tbh
But also, all the characters have fucking terrible lives, so I don’t really want to be any of them.
Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?
I can’t really imagine it, but that’s because I always find it hard to make AUs and crossovers with FMA because the story is absolutely perfect the way it is and any way you change it detracts from its perfection. If you put other characters into the FMA universe, it loses some of its meaning, yknow? Same with taking the FMA characters out of their universe, because who they are is so inherently tied to their in-universe experiences and their development with the story.
Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?
Unlikely but strangely okay ... I mean, I’m a sucker for Jimon, but that’s not all that unusual. I like Izzy with literally any of the girls (Clary and Aline, especially). But I feel like Magnus and Izzy would fit “unlikely but strangely okay” - I can imagine them flirting if Malec was never a thing, and they would look hot together, let’s be honest. A power dressing couple. Very intimidating. I’m into it.
Overall, which show has the better story line, 3 or 5?#
Clearly FMA because (a) it’s FMA and its narrative themes and characterisation are Absolute Perfection, and (b) FMA actually *has* a story line. SVU does not have a story line. SVU barely has coherent writing.
Which has better theme music, 2 or 4?
The GOT soundtrack is iconic, so there’s no question here. The use of leitmotifs for individual characters, and hearing how those are combined and overlapped and developed with the story? Spectacular.
