I do love when critical role et al decide to put travis willingham through The Horrors. they say "travis, it's been long enough. we have to scare you again." and he keeps agreeing to it

The Satanic Temple is very bad at court cases (December 2023)
Changes from November include:
Confirmation both Travis County, Texas, lawsuits have not seen any new filings in more than one year.
Ninth Circuit granted TST partial victory in form of an additional opportunity to make defamation claims in federal district court against Johnson et al Defendants.
Full list on The.Satanic.Wiki
Full list on r/TheSatanicCirclejerk
Moreover, we’re still being sued by The Satanic Temple in federal appellate court and now King County Superior Court.
TST is also still suing Newsweek and its reporter (but maybe not her anymore!) for writing about us. In addition, The Satanic Temple is now suing a TikToker in Texas for talking about our case. Check the pinned post for more.
While it looks bad on its own, compare how things looked just one short year ago for The Satanic Temple and notice how so many of those "ongoing" cases turned out.
When it comes to The Satanic Temple, there's always more and it's always worse.

I think Chloe et al was written before they got together. It’s literally just the fortnight of the anthology. People use that song to say it’s a decade of longing or whatever but like read the summation again and listen to that song. It’s about wondering what could be without acting on it. Fortunately or unfortunately for her, she acted on it and quickly got burned but at least she no longer has to wonder.
this is something I’ve wondered about as well, because the song definitely seems to be set in a pre-fortnight era, but that would mean the high school bully line has nothing to do with travis (and tbh it’s likely. calvin also happened right after matty 1.0).

Re: the bucktommy endgame tags. I agree it could potentially be a Travis/Emmett type break up and get back together thing. Though hopefully not as toxic as they have been lol
Yeah! Tbh I don't watch nearly enough Station 19 to be able to comment much on the nuances of Travis and Emmett's relationship, but yeah, if BuckTommy were endgame I think it would probably happen a little like that. Idk, the vibe I get from Tim et. al is that he was bored of what was going on with Buck's romantic life and wanted to inject new life into it through this storyline. Buck being attracted to men opens up a brand new avenue for Tim to be creative, and I don't think he'd want to cut off all those future possibilities for Buck by sticking them together in Buck's only relationship for the rest of the series so fast.
But I do think in a world where Buck and Tommy's first go-around ended amicably (which is sort of what I'd foresee for them anyway) and the show didn't intend to go forward with making Eddie the endgame, Tommy could definitely come back around later to become the endgame relationship for a lot of the reasons you mentioned in your tags. I don't think it would be very narratively satisfying for Buck to end up with someone who's not a first responder and doesn't have firsthand experience with that life, and I think Tommy would be a really good option that would make Buck's endgame LI fit seamlessly into the world around them through his connections with the other mains instead of just something on the side to tide Buck over in his own singular storylines. Very interested to see where they go from here with them, and I do hope we at least get the rest of this season with BuckTommy, if not more!

hello fellow members of the tortured poets department.
i shall now enter into evidence the alchemy and analyze it.
previous days:
fortnight; THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT; my boy only breaks his favorite toys; down bad; so long, london; but daddy i love him; fresh out the slammer+florida!!!; guilty as sin?; who’s afraid of little old me?; i can fix him (no really i can); loml+chloe et al. (part 0.5); i can do it with a broken heart; the smallest man who ever lived
this song despite popular belief is not about travis kelce but is actually about the ship royai- *gunshot*
okay, let’s get a bit serious.
this is a fun song about taylor coming back from being in a truly dark place to someone who is not only excited to be with her but also just as in love with her as she is to him. it is a fun silly song about falling in love and giving into the feelings because it feels so right.
there isn’t much else to add, but some highlights i do like are taylor saying “what if i told you im back? the hospital was a drag” as her saying she’s feeling like herself again. or “these blokes warm the benches/we’ve been in a winning streak/he jokes that it’s heroine but this time with an e” as her saying she’s done with those british losers and is back to america 😤.
and of course just the royaification of it. you either get it or you don’t.
that’s it. there’s not much to say here but i love this song cause it’s about riza hawkeye and roy mustang. i know this because taylor told me herself.

Newish Comics:
Batman #149: this tied off storytelling for a year very neatly. Things I'm optimistic about - it looks like Zdarsky is planning to get more into why Vandal Savage as Police Commissioner is a terrible idea after we get through Absolute Power.
I'm also actually interested in Pennyworth Manor (sorry to all the haters) in terms of several aspects: it's going to keep Bruce et al in a base in Gotham proper, rather than over in Bristol, which I do enjoy in terms of being 'part of the community'; and Bruce offering a home for EVERYONE to move in is actually new territory for main continuity. I think the previous record for Batfam actually living in the same home on panel is Dick, Tim and Damian (in the Penthouse during Reborn). Tim and Cass theoretically have an overlapping period in 2008-2009, Dick and Tim lived in the Manor together during Prodigal, but for most periods it's Bruce-and-one-kid at best.
Do I think it's WFAish? Yeah. But I think it creates opportunities for family storytelling and hopefully conflict in terms of ACTUALLY getting this family of only children having to interact regularly.
(also lol Jason didn't turn up)
Batman/Superman: World's Finest #28: I dunno. Maybe I've hit my fill on Silver Age silliness.
The Warlord #57: this week in Skartaris I am promised bondage. Thanks, Mike Grell!
A conspiracy has locked Travis up, and seduced Tara with her old boyfriend! They have someone impersonating Travis so that Tara doesn't realise anything's amiss (but replacement Travis doesn't understand how guns work).
I keep giggling at that spiked helmet. Oh no! The spikes!
Also Mr Definitely Not Fagin, I Said Darvin has his little band of streetkids guarding the prison that's holding Travis. Joshua disappears though off to go run around the streets, followed by one of the other kids, and we get this interaction.
Yeah. You totally aren't fraternising with royalty right at this very second, kid.

I would be surprised if she wrote Chloe et al after the last Matty split. The lyrics sound more applicable to when she was thinking “what if” while with Joe. I think once she moved past the turmoil last summer she closed that chapter. People really think she was fantasizing about Matty when she got with Travis and wondering why he stood by and watched? I know she did this at the end of relationship with Joe, but it was a dying relationship and not a new one she seemingly was excited about.
i think it's about multiple situations? i could see it being about jake, about matty, about joe, about many other situations we have no idea about. like how many albums and songs does she have to write before the fandom realizes that the WHAT IF of all her past lives, past possibilities, haunt her lmao

to be completely fair, (and this is aimed to certain other blogs, not you) if after listening to LOML you are still LSK, that’s totally on you!!! And not on taylor. Accusing taylor of manipulating kaylors into believing she is still with karlie, when she released THAT song (and chloe et al), makes no sense. It just means y’all are stubborn and delulu.
I mean Taylor has manipulated every faction of her fandom into thinking every album or song is about the muse they think its about—The Joes, Karlie, Travis, MH, Diana, etc etc etc
None of us actually know anything—but she knows how songs will be perceived and she works with very specific visuals/call backs for that exact reason—if no individual fandom can be proven wrong 100%, every fandom gets to be right and everyone gets to keep giving her money & support

Thess vs the Proving Lab
Welp. That happened.
And here we are - what's left of HADES. I mean, I'm surprised there's anything left of HADES at all, honestly. But I guess Sylens doesn't have so much a concept of mercy.
HADES, you are a shitheel. I mean, the Derangement and the Mysterious Signal probably contributed to that, but I don't think getting mucked with by Travis Tate et al helped all that much.
So ... wait ... Sylens, are you seriously telling me you left HADES alive (insomuch as an AI is alive) specifically so you could keep your word way back when you said you'd give me the means to destroy it? ...Well, if I'm running around settlements that look like Dreamer's Terrace, I guess it's fitting that I've got Fae-wording bargains coming from this dipshit.
And now you give me a schematic to let me ignite firegleam. Only when it suits you. Ugh, fine, I'll go hunt Leaplashers. (I hate Leaplashers.)
Best way to deal with Leaplashers - from the next post code over.
"Story and Easy Mode: you do not have to shoot off the power cores--" Can I ... do it anyway?
Right. Firegleam ignited. In we go!
So ... there was no mechanic for just ... letting me swim there? Really?
We're really hammering home the parallels between Sobek and Aloy, aren't we. Also ... why can I not punch Travis Tate in the face? I mean, really, I want to punch him in his face.
.........Well, this wasn't what I was expecting the "We still have dozens of hours of gameplay to give you so we'll contrive a problem" to be, but I'll take it. This game really enjoys kicking one in the metaphorical balls.
Sylens ... these are unknown quantities trying to come through the door, and you're not tellng me nearly enough, but I've done enough reading to know that the little you say you know? Is complete bullshit.
Yeah, see? Though now I'm almost regretting having crunched that particular Focus because I want a very good, very solid, "I TOLD YOU SO" right now.
(Also, if she was carrying around a spare Focus - or several, given what she told Varl at the beginning - why did she not do that six months ago? Or even when she discovered what he did to HADES? She knew Sylens had spyware! If she wanted to keep getting answers from him, she shouldn't have destroyed the spyware-filled Focus; she should have shoved it in a belt pouch and used a different one - at least until she wanted to pry answers out of Sylens again.)
...What the fuck are you people wearing? Did you get all your ideas on future fashion from Star Trek: TOS? That's tacky as fuck, guys.
Except you, Mini-Me. ...I have a Mini-Me. Great. And someone really needs to give you some actual shoes. Your feet must be cold.
(Yes, I notice this shit.)
Okay, these are not the machines I know, and ... yeah, I read a review at some point that talked about the "new machines" and how disappointing their designs were, and ... I get what they mean now. Robots should not ooze.
"One is trouble enough". Oooooh, Sylens, I wish I'd left you eavesdropping. Just because of how much you fucking hate being wrong.
Oh, so your horrible blingy jumpsuit has a forcefield on it. So this is going to be the most annoying fight ever.
...I get Aloy wanted information, but why was there no option to just jump in the damn water and swim?!? Why did she have to play some demented version of Tag to crash an entire ... whatever that fucking thing was when it wasn't even going to hurt him?!?
So jumping puzzle plus oxygen management plus stealth out the ass. This has been the most annoying fucking thing ever and I hate it. Good thing I'm way better at stealth.
...Crippling by Cutscene. THANKS FOR THAT.
Ah. Hi, Varl. Guess you're feeling better. I personally feel like shit. But I'm going to Do The Thing anyway--
Okay, that's fucking clever. The Utaru name their settlements for music because they remembered the old "do-re-mi" scale-singing from their ancestors' Cradle teachings, and let it live on in the name of their "land-gods". And this is the first civilisation that actually acknowledges what the machines were supposed to do. Everyone else treats them as a hazard at best; the Utaru worked in concert with them. So ... basically it's the Utaru that have it right. Neat.
Yeah, go be with your girlfriend, Varl. I will stay put, I promise. If only because a) the cutscene wants me to and b) I don't want to be that much of a hypocrite given everything I've said to you and Erend over the last little while. Also, c) someone ought to have a romance option that isn't one throwaway bit in the DLC.
(YES I KIND OF WANT TO ROMANCE EREND SHUT UP.)
Aaaaaaaand my ribs are better. And little green exclamation mark. Hi, Xenophobe Lady.
...Aloy? Why could you not just explain to the Xenophobe Lady what a 'thrush' is?!? Maybe she'd stop being such a bitch!
Right. I know there's all this saving-the-world stuff (though I have to admit I'm a lot less jazzed about that when I'm fighting Futuristic Techno-Gods or whatever), but I'm going to take a break and then I am going to go and ignite every bit of Firegleam I have passed so far. It has been taunting me.
(No, seriously, Futuristic Techno-Gods who bring all of the mindsets of the Old World with them? I don't want this. I am in this game for seeing how civilisations might shape themselves outside of the influence of the Old Gods - this is speculative fiction at its finest! And now you're giving me Futuristic Techno-Gods who are, in point of fact, generations old? And where were they all this time?)
(...They were in space, weren't they. IF THIS GAME SENDS ME TO SPACE I AM GOING TO THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW. METAPHORICALLY.)
Right. Yes. Break. Then, Firegleam and hunting. I ... am weirdly less jazzed about this game now that we're bringing the Old World this far into it. There's still enough for me to love, but none of it's the main plot. It's getting space-opera convoluted here - more clones, advanced technology, people treating the civilisations that formed without APOLLO as lesser--
...Wait. If we have APOLLO and DEMETER and HADES and HEPHAESTUS ... why do we have MINERVA? Every single one of the subordinate functions, and even the rogue AI Nemesis, were named for Greek gods, so why didn't they go with ATHENA?
Anyway, we're going into a vaguely colonialist direction far beyond shit like the Carja being stuck-up about everything and I am not sure I like it. Also I want to punch Sylens in the face for effectively arming the rebel Tenakth. What does he gain from destabilising the region? More to the point, what do these Techno-God dipshits gain from it? They have to be helping with that shit somehow.

Okay here is the final list of all the books I’ve finished this year! (since it doesn’t look like I’m going to get anything finished or even started this week.)
I tend to not finish things if I’m not enjoying them (two exceptions on this list because sometimes I am spiteful), so I liked all of these—but the ones in bold are those I particularly loved (I only bolded one per series or it would just be a wall of The Murderbot Diaries lol).
LGBT+ books read: 48
wlw books read: 22
trans/nb books: 17
I’m very happy with my year in reading. I hit my new year’s goal of 52 books finished. And I read a lot of things that I really fucking loved. Lots of robots. LOTS of scifi/fantasy sapphics which I am SO happy about. Some good horror, some good fucky “romances”. A lot of things written in response to the Trump era or written during 2020 lockdown.
I also enjoyed partaking in online book fandom for the first time in possibly ever! Especially Murderbot fandom, which is very active and creative and lovely.
(If you followed me for my bookblogging, thank you for enduring my Thai BL vroom vroom omegaverse brainrot. It will not be stopping anytime soon.)
For 2024, I am going to keep my goal at 52 books and save any extra time I have for rereading old things.
