If Settia is the one who holds the dess-memories, is she also the one who remembers Kris? Does she feel any particular way about Kris being back or being friends with Susie?

so actually settia's situation is more complicated than that lol. it DOES remember kris! in a sense. because settia actually starts out as a kris factive (a headmate formed based on a real person, in this case, kris as they were last noelle knew them).

i dont actually know if this lore has been dropped yet lol but if im ever gonna talk about settia (and i want to talk about settia) its sorta vital to know. noelle and poinsettia (who doesn't even name itself poinsettia 'til wayyyyy further down the line, like, we're talking the epilogue most likely) think settia is kris's ghost who is haunting noelle bc they have some sort of unfinished business she's related to.

the sort of 'why' behind this is that dess leaving with kris means (to a like six year old noelle) that dess chose kris over noelle. so all of noelle's memories with dess are just painful and hurt and dont make SENSE, so, like, of course they didnt happen to noelle! they happened to kris, and that's how poinsettia is formed--it holds all of the dess-memories because every memory with dess in it had to have happened to kris.

all of this to say: when kris comes back this is like, a HUGE breaking point for settia lol, who is basically confronted with the fact that its entire life is a lie, actually, because if kris is alive and well how can they ALSO be a ghost??? this event leads to a huge fight happening between noelle and settia and eventually the events of dark world number four, which takes place at the abandoned holiday house!

so poinsettia, uh, isn't kris's biggest fan at first. and this is not made any better by the fact that noelle's friends are NOELLE'S friends, because susie and ralsei don't know poinsettia is around (though it has fronted and interacted with them; noelle doesnt remember this, poinsettia does, but incorrectly, bc again, it thinks it is just a ghost and anything it does that doesn't fit that narrative is either forgotten, ignored, or rationalized away). so susie being besties with kris but fucking hating settia doesnt exactly make settia's life any easier, does it.

eventually settia and kris probably can become friends, but it's not until settia's figured out who it is as a person. which takes a lot of trial and error throughout the latter half of drk. and isnt any easier when the stakes in the latter half of drk are. as they say. rather large.

Hmmmmm that’s a tough question, since we never got to actually get to see the other kids down below, it’s kinda hard to think about how they could save them. As for doey bringing the others to the factory, keep in mind doey doesn’t want anyone else to know the horrors of playtime.co, especially since if he told the others frisk would want to come along, even though they’re a child, who already has family and friends, so he wouldn’t want her to ever step inside the factory, cause he’s terrified of the thought they wouldn’t come out.

He’d much rather not tell them, even if the guilt of leaving those kids would eat him alive. He’d think himself selfish for even thinking of abandoning those kids, but thinking about putting frisk and her family in harms way is also selfish.

I do know that toriel and asgore and papyrus in particular would feel sick to their stomachs upon seeing all the carnage, especially when they see the mountain of critter bodies surrounding the prison, knowing they were once children. “Why on earth would anyone build a prison under a toy factory!?” Toriel screamed, doey could do nothing but shrug, not knowing why either.

Just thought of a crossover between poppy playtime and undertale, where poppy playtime takes place in the same universe as the events of undertale. So I’m thinking the playtime factory would be stationed near Mount ebbot. And by this time frisk had long since broken the barrier and them and the others are already in the process of settling down on the surface.

Till one day, while frisk is wandering through the woods, they see something that makes them still. They find doey standing right in front of them, stuck frozen just like they are. The creature doesn’t look like any monster they’ve ever seen in the underground, but they could tell it looked scared, from the way it seemed to nervously fidget the more time passes. Eventually frisk breaks the silence by introducing themselves, and the creature eventually does the same, introducing himself as doey, which frisk thinks is a cute name.

They invite doey to meet their friends, which makes doey hesitate, since all he could imagine was a bunch of humans, who would no doubt be afraid of him. Noticing his hesitation, frisk reaches up and grabs his hand and explains how their friends are really nice. And looking down at the small child looking up at him with such kindness and sincerity something he doesn’t deserve he reluctantly agrees, letting frisk led him to the village where their friends lived, being surprised that all of them were creatures just like him, or at least similar.

They were of course surprised upon seeing him, but upon frisk explaining how they found him wandering through the forest, they reluctantly agree to let him stay, cause a friend of frisk is a friend of them, doey feels touched by the sentiment.

Since doey is the component of three consciences, in the undertale verse, that would translate to souls, the souls colors are as follows.

Michael: patience 

Kevin: justice

Jack: kindness

Dory’s relationship with the other monsters:

Toriel: doey thinks she is really nice, she has a soft motherly presence that all three need, and reminds Jack of the mother that he lost, which causes doey to cry one day while helping her in the kitchen (with safety gloves, cause toriel quite isn’t sure how her food will turn out if it has bits of doe stuck it in, doey understands) and toriel is quick to comfort him, he doesn’t explain why he got so sad all of a sudden, but toriel comforts him all the same, knowing that something is wrong, and promises him tjat she would do everything in her power to protect him, which just makes him cry harder

Asgore: doey thinks he’s really nice to be around, and enjoys the time he gets to hang out while trying his tea. Asgore doesn’t quite understand how sentient dough can be able to ingest tea and food, but he remembers that the slime monsters are perfectly able to digest food, and pushes it out of mind) that is till he inevitably finds out that he had killed children in the past, which causes doey to understandably be afraid of him, till frisk explains that he only did that so he could find a way to break the barrier to save his people, which doey understands. And while not liking the fact that asgore had to go to such lengths, understands the importance of taking care of the people you care about. At least asgore succeed where he failed…

Alphys: upon being told that one of frisk’s friends is a Scientist, he doesn’t react well to it, his only interaction with any scientists being the doctor, so he doesn’t want anything to do with her till frisk, after managing to calm him down, explains that she’s really nice, and is one of their closest friends, and says how alphys has no intention of hurting him. It takes awhile, but with frisk by his side, he goes to meet alphys, and is presently surprised at how nice she is, and while she has questions of her about him, backs off the moment he gets uncomfortable, which he deeply appreciates. She eventually introduces him to anime, something that doey is very surprised about, since he’s only known cartoons from the grainy small tv’s from playcare. So seeing a cartoon so vibrant makes him very happy.

Sans and papyrus: he likes both of them equally, he enjoys sans for his laid back nature, and his puns that he readily enjoys, exchanging some of his own, much to papyrus’s chagrin. Doey enjoys his time with papyrus, learning about the different types of puzzles, and papyrus make spaghetti, even if the kitchen burst into flames from time to time. The first time it happened, doey was so frightened that he wrapped his arms twice around Papyrus and bolted out of there screaming, all while sans calmly walks in the flaming kitchen with a fire extinguisher, acting like things like this happen all the time.

Undying: safe to say doey was very surprised at how over the top she was, especially since she asked to spar with him in their first meeting, which he politely declines, content in watching her and papyrus spar from the sidelines, quickly awed at how cool they both are while fighting, it kinda reminds him often fights in alphas’s anime’s he’s watched, especially when undying suddenly strikes an iconic post from one of the characters in an anime, causing frisk next to him to cheer. One day he eventually he ends up sparring with undying, while making sure to hold back, not wanting to hurt her, finding out that he didn’t really need to, since the fish monster seemed perfectly in her element. in the process doey finds out that sparring is more fun then he expected, and he quickly looks forward to sparring with her more often.

That’s all I have rn, I just really want doey to be surrounded by people who grow to love and care about him, while not having to constantly be on guard. He deserves the world

bc of the alcohol scene people are FINALLY clocking that Toriel is also kinda shitty. for people who didn't pick up on it this is not new to Deltarune:

Toriel is incredibly stubborn especially about her beliefs and therefore she states very blatently that she is good and Asgore is bad and evil and horrible, meanwhile Asgore himself is a pushover and takes it like a pussy. Because she states it with such confidence people just kinda.. believed her.

Toriel's the one who left and decided to stew instead of actually solving any problems. it took six kids for Toriel to actually try to hold one back. When she comes back like. yeah a lot of this is Asgore's fault but what she says to him then could've been said six dead kids ago instead of basically ghosting him. Even after all of her worry she still doesn't come with you because despite herself and what she thinks, she's just as much of a coward delaying the inevitable as Asgore is.

These themes really continue in Deltarune. While Asgore is definitely too pushy, Toriel refuses to talk to him in any way at all, throwing away his flowers and trash talking him behind his back while also not talking to him at all. Similarly to Undertale she'd much rather avoid and trash talk him than make moves to fix anything.

Even though Toriel kinda does, it's not an argument of who was worse in the situation of either Undertale or Deltarune, if you start counting "sin points" to decide who was worse than you're loosing your media literacy. As far as I can tell at least in Undertale Toriel is just as at fault as Asgore is, even IF she tried and failed years ago and gave up, shutting herself off from the world and pretending it doesn't exist is no solution, and it's almost the same solution Asgore took, even right before he kills you.

We don't know the situation in Delatrune other than Asgore seems to have something he's involved with that Toriel doesn't want to talk about that Carol is "financing", very well could be an addiction of his own.

But I think the blatant alcoholism (that's in Undertale btw, in the alarm clock event she also got plastered) that people who know what alcoholism looks like noticed how Kris (and Susie) act in that scene has made it more apparent than ever that Toriel is an incredibly flawed character and one of her flaws is not being able to see that, something that Asgore does the opposite of where he's always wallowing in self-pity.

Toriel is really good at general mom-isms like making breakfast, taking the kids out, supporting interests, giving hugs, etc. However when actually worrying about Kris' safety and wellbeing she ends up falling short, as people have pointed out when we come home in chapter 4 she doesn't ask why either of them were out so late. Even a controlled state Kris has enough embarrassment and shame about the scene that they hide their face, meaning Kris has shown obvious signs of disapproval before that Toriel has not seen or ignored.

I think that's why her and Sans mesh so well together in an actually horrible way. Sans also likes to pretend stuff doesn't exist and brush stuff off with a joke instead of doing anything until literally the last minute. With how he acts in the scene he may not know, but weather he knows or not he is absolutely enabling her, which weather Toriel knows it or not is why she likes him and keeps him around. Finally a succinct way of saying why I believe their relationship, whatever you believe it is, is a toxic one.

TLDR: the only parent doing a good job here is Rudy unless we learn info later that changes that

'Ant' Tenna x Reader (Deltarune)

Notes: Horror undertones, but they're for things Tenna also does canonically. Happy ending...? I keep seeing people saying that this guy is going to be the new Tumblr sexyman, but I don't see anyone being feral about him yet. So. Here you go.

You’d gotten the TV from Toriel, practically for free. She’s well-known in the little town you’re renting a single-room apartment in, and had practically insisted you take it. (“My son… Is also a student, but he moved out. If he needed something, I would be happy knowing he got help from someone too,” she’d told you with a smile.)

Because, yeah, you are a struggling student, with a commute lasting about 4 hours a day, but you couldn’t afford any other place and were desperate enough to get away from home to take it. The town is beautiful and quiet, the rent is dirt cheap and the people are nice, though you can tell it’s not the same compared to if you had grown up here.

Your half a day long commute prevents you from doing much socializing, you’re always thinking about what time you’ll be home, how busy it’ll be on the roads and what the hell you’re going to be eating for dinner that night. Though, to be fair, even without that added hurdle you’ve never found approaching people the easiest. Like, ever. So, you spend a lot of time in your apartment, alone, doing homework or being online, either on the couch or in bed (which, considering they’re in the same room, kind of feel like the same thing). And, now, you have a television to add for entertainment.

It’s old. Toriel had warned you about ‘images that wouldn’t leave the screen’, and as soon as you turn the thing on there’s clear burn-in from the logos of kid’s tv channels and other things, an unfadeable memory. You can’t do a whole lot with it except watch cable… It doesn’t even have a HDMI port.

Still, you’re thankful for it and the old game consoles you’d brought with you from home out of pure nostalgia. Now you can finally dust them off and use them, remember what you loved about those games you played for hours and hours, on your own, as a kid. It feels warm and you find yourself smiling, face illuminated by the screen’s light.

But it always comes to an end. You turn it off, eyelids drooping, and the stress of your day-to-day with its rising expenses, loneliness, student debt and an already dead future career, rushes back to you all at once. You don’t want to leave your room, sometimes. It’s crushing. You don’t have any say in the matter, though, so you get up and keep going, every day practically the same. With a flicker of hope that it will, eventually, someday, get better. That’s what you’ve always been told.

One night, you fall in sleep in front of your television and have the strangest dream, one that feels as real as reality but surely cannot be. There, you’re chaperoned by a man(?) named ‘Ant’ Tenna, treated like the star of the show, the contestant in a quiz that has questions tailored specifically to your personal niche knowledge, and you absolutely blow it out of the park.

You’re not used to being the center of attention like this… Even if the crowd seems more like a mass of moving audience members, rather than actual people. Your knees are trembling for the first five questions and, even after, you struggle and stutter from time, but the host never calls you out on it. It’s surprisingly… Nice. To get this attention, to feel like you’re being acknowledged.

You linger after the show is over, unsure of what to do in the Green Room. You’re not really hungry or tired, which makes sense considering you surely must be dreaming. You wander outside, led by red carpet, and almost run straight into Tenna. He’s huge, absolutely towering over you, easily twice your height. You pull and tug a bit at your clothes as you crane your neck and smile up at him. “I wanted to say—Um, thanks for having me, mister Tenna! It was… Really fun!” Bright, white teeth shine at you from the screen that is his face. He folds his hands behind his back and leans forward, just a little. “Oh, sweetheart, just Tenna is fine! We don’t have to be all formal with each other, do we? I already feel like I know you so well!” You feel a little bit of heat rising to your face. The quiz had been perfectly finetuned to your interests… But that all makes sense, considering this is all happening in the safe confines of your brain, and this man is just a figment of your imagination. It’s all good. Tenna claps his hands in front of his body and you’re jolted from your thoughts. “If you were having such a good time, how about another round?”

And you do. You play and win at a whole variety of games, until your head is spinning—The dream seems to drag on, and on and on. More than anything, you’re having a good time shooting quips back and forth with Tenna, feeling seen and listened to. You don’t think anyone has ever laughed this hard as something you’ve said… Ever? It’s certainly flattering, to say the least, to have someone be so interested in you.

All good things must come to an end, though, and eventually you do get tired, and the life that you had temporarily left behind starts calling to you again. In your mind, it’s inevitable, so you might as well get it over with.

“Leave?” It’s the first time Tenna’s smile wavers during your… Day? Session. “But we’ve been having so much fun—” He laughs, stuttering over part of the noise. “Why do you want to leave?” His hand drums on the back of his head, making a dull clanking noise. “I can think up some more games, some more fun quizzes?!” Tenna’s voice shoots up in pitch. “We can save that for next time?” You say with a smile. This notion, the thought that you’d like to return, seems to settle Tenna somewhat. His hand drops back to his side, swaying back and forth. “Oh! You’d like to return… I mean, of course you would!” He beams at you. “I’ll—I’ll have some more time to think things over, for them to marinate! It’ll be great!!” “Yeah,” you say, a little breathless. “Thanks. Again. This was fun. I don’t…” you trail off and swallow. “I don’t really talk to a lot of people anymore. So this was really nice. Thank you.” You don't know why you say it. Perhaps because you don't think any of this is real. You've never been this vulnerable around anyone in real-life. Before you completely realise what’s happening, he lowers himself in a crouching position and pulls you into a tight hug. “I know,” he says softly. “I know. Me neither.”

You wake up with a sore neck and dried spit on your chin. It takes you a while to will your body to move. It’s heavy and sluggish. Unlike other dreams you’ve had, it remains crisp in your mind as ever. The world around you seems more gray-toned than ever in comparison to the bright colours and flourishes of the world you’d entered as you were dreaming… One where you didn’t have to worry about anything, with someone who has eyes just for you. Well, if he has eyes at all. Maybe that kind of saying would be considered offensive.

When you fall asleep that night, you do it on the couch in the exact same position, as if that were the reason behind the dream you had the night before. It takes ages for you to drift off. Embarrassingly enough, you’re so excited that your heart keeps racing. You fall asleep, going there again and again, a personal little place of peace you return to every single night. Maybe it’s all some kind of illusion your brain has conjured up to help you to cope and, if that’s the case, you could still have peace with it. You drag yourself through the days for the nights that offer relief.

“Why don’t you just stay here?” Tenna asks, eventually, uncharacteristic in his stillness. He’s an entertainer by his very nature. Even when he’s not on the stage, he’s always moving, always loud, always working to keep your attention on him. Now, he grabs your interest with nothing but quiet. “I know you’ll come back. You have so many times, but—Why even leave? What’s still waiting for you out there? A bleak future? People who don’t appreciate you? Stay with me…” For the first time since you met him, Tenna physically shrinks down in size, becoming close to your height. His head is hung low. “Please. I’d like, no, love for you to stay.” You reach up and stroke the glass of his face. “Me too. I’ll do it.” “You promise?” “Yeah. Definitely.”  He swoops you up and you screech as he suddenly increases in size once again, carrying you high up in the air all at once. As he breaks out in silly, impromptu dance moves, laughter bubbles up from your throat and fills your entire body. This is a happy ending, you tell yourself, though a little lingering bit of doubt retains. (Is this the easy way out? Have you chosen stasis over a life of infinite possibilities?) But… Well, if it’s lazy or weak or too easy, you decide that you deserve an easy life.

Agrotale Introduction Thread!! (Take Two)

Agrotale is an AU based on the Queen Alphys neutral ending you can get by abandoning a geno route in Hotland. Which means that Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne, Mettaton, and Asgore are all dead. The fallen human, Everett, must traverse the underground and avoid being captured by the Royal Guard and escorted to the Queen. The name Agrotale comes from the fact that Everett is a gardener and helps with the Underground's agriculture after a malfunction in the CORE limits food supply.

Climbed Mt. Ebott in search of rare plants, but accidentally fell in. Stuck in an unlucky situation, but tries their best to get on the Underground's good side. Uses the seeds in their pocket to plant food when the CORE experiences a malfunction. Got confronted by Muffet in the ruins, who was tasked by someone to take their soul, but was saved by Sans. He looks out for them to make sure they don't try anything stupid, and he makes it well-known that there'll be consequences if they do.

Muffet - Ruins Hermit

Muffet was banished to the ruins after her actions during the previous human's rampage led to countless more deaths, as well as the fact that she threatened to cannibalize the Queen on multiple occasions. Muffet is the same as ever- greedy, and willing to do anything for money. She may have even made a new business partner...? It may be best to grow eyes on the back of your head, I think someone may be watching you.

Dess Holiday - Head of the Royal Guard

Dess was inspired to take up head of the Royal Guard after Undyne's passing, and was able to secure her position due to hard work and determination- as well as some nepotism sprinkled in the mix. Dess is great at her job, but she takes a lot of breaks to goof off with her sister, Noel, in the forest. She finds Sans a bit annoying, but for the most part they are on good terms. She has a rocky relationship with her mother, and after Asgore passed, it's been worse than ever. She's glad that her job gives her an outlet, and she's glad that she has a bat on her at all times (lest she needs to take her frustrations out on random items in the forest). She patrols Snowdin.

Noel Holiday - An Angel, Wouldn't Hurt a Fly

Dess's sister and Carol Holiday's daughter, Noel. A bit skiddish, but it seems she made some friends at the library. And, she's well liked amongst Dess's Royal Guard friends, too. Noel gets babysat by Grillby whenever Carol or Dess are unable to watch her, and since Sans is a frequent visitor she's become pretty close with him as well (to Carol's dismay).

Carol Holiday - Royal Advisor to the Queen

《 Carol Talksprites , Sans and Carol Doodle , He's Just Annoying (Twitter) 》

Is not handling Asgore's death well at all, and she's a pain in the Queen's ass, but, she's exceptionally good at her job. So, she keeps her position as the Royal Advisor swiftly secure. Becomes frustrated with Alphys easily, but does make an attempt to keep her composure, as she knows that this isn't Alphys's fault. Sans, on the other hand, she can't stand. In any other context, maybe she would have taken a liking to him, but in this situation? He never takes anything serious, and it irritates her to no end.

Birdly - Works at the Library

Works at the library whenever the owner can't make it. Definitely breaking multiple child safety laws, but his family needs the money, and the owner needs a break. So it's not like anything'll change anytime soon. Birdly lives with his mom, Bird. She's at Grillby's majority of the time, so he makes himself at home at the library. He even made a few friends too! Once Suzy came to town, she was a bit of a loner, and she wasn't up for conversation. She took a liking to Birdly when he started giving her recommendations for books he thinks she would like (and was correct). Noel also comes in for books pretty frequently, and it seems like she started showing up more once Suzy moved in.

Suzy - New Kid in Snowdin

Moved from Waterfall for a change of scenery, and because it's where everyone else was going. Doesn't talk about her home life, and no one knows where she lives. Friends with Birdly and Noel, and, she won't admit it, but the only reason she still comes to the library is to see either of them.

Grillby - Professional Cook and Babysitter

Still works at Grillby's, except now he has a new unofficial job as a babysitter for Noel. He became close with the Holiday's since Rudy was such a frequent visitor of his restaurant, and he used to watch Dess as well when she was younger. He enjoys the break away from his job, and he believes it's good for his daughter to get some work experience. He doesn't appreciate all the free handouts she gives to her friends, but I guess he'll let it slide. Especially considering he technically does the same thing for his. Sans and Alphys visit the restaurant frequently, and he's always happy to make them food even it's for free. He appreciates all the work they're doing for the underground, and he likes to help wherever he can.

Fuku Fire - Grillby's Daughter

Works at Grillby's whenever her dad can't. Friends with Dess, and gives her free food during her breaks. Pretty close with Sans, since he's known Grillby for a while, and she's been getting closer with Alphys because of how often she visits Grillby's nowadays.

Was inspired to join the Royal Guard after they watched Undyne die in front of them. Suffering with intense survivors guilt, MT swears that they won't wimp out this time when the next human falls, even if it means disobeying their orders. Deep down, still just a dorky kid, but they put on a tough exterior to seem more intimidating than they actually are. Really close with Dess, and Dess helps train them (and helps force them to take breaks when they push themself too hard). Alphys is very empathetic towards them because she knows exactly how they feel. Sans also helps train them every now and then, but his training style isn't nearly as serious as MT would prefer. They still live in Snowdin, but are assigned in Waterfall typically (per their request).

Gerson - Royal Guard Trainer

Wise old man with a lot of fighting experience, trained all of the new Royal Guard members, starting with Monster Teen, since they were the first to ask him. Of course, he obliged. Talks to Sans and Alphys often when they pass through Waterfall.

Mad Mew Mew - Vigilante / Future Royal Guard Member

Was killed by Frisk just after she fused to become Glad Dummy, however, she brought herself back to life out of spite and possessed the Mew Mew doll in a last-ditch effort to survive. She's now falling apart at the seams, and she is determined to get revenge. When she's not causing chaos, she's hiding in people's sinks or messing with fast food workers on their breaks. She patrols Waterfall, illegally.

Catti & Jockington - (Honorary) Royal Guard Members

Jockington is an official Royal Guardsman, however, Catti is not. She just follows Jock wherever he goes, and became an honorary member in that way. They both patrol Hotland.

Sans - Queen's Assistant / Bodyguard / Jester / Royal Scientist / ....uhhh? What the hell's this guy's deal, anyway?

The Queen's right hand man, almost never leaves her side. Says it's for Alphys's sake, but it's also for his, too. In contrast to his True Pacifist counterpart, Sans is secretly longing for a Reset to occur, and in a painful set of irony- no longer believes it to happen. Once he had this revalation, it took him weeks to catch up on all the months of grief he prevented himself from processing. But, Alphys was there to help, just as he was there for her. He's an all-rounder in terms of occupation, he does whatever Alphys needs whenever she needs it, no questions asked. Well, maybe some questions- like why she needs a flatscreen TV installed in the lab, and why she thought Sans was the right guy to call for help.

Sans proposed a new rule for humans, stating that there is no need to kill on sight unless they are shown to be outwardly aggressive or a genuine threat. He and Alphys are both smart enough to know that not all human children that fall down will be dangerous, and they don't want to continue the cycle of violence that ended up getting the people of the Underground nowhere in the end. And since they never made a promise to their people that went against their morals, they are free to do so. And since Asgore's plan didn't work out, the general public decided to give it a chance as well. Sans and Alphys put evacuation procedures into place for whenever a human were to fall down, just to be safe. They also installed cameras in the Ruins as well, so they can monitor whether or not that has happened yet, and plan accordingly.

Sans visits Toriel's home every now and then, keeping it as clean as he can for her. He does the same for the catacombs, since he knew she watched over the Ruins like a second home. He also found her joke book, and he writes a new entry every day to keep it going. He bumps into Muffet every now and again, but she knows to keep her distance.

The new Queen of the Underground. Tries her best to do what's right, but most of her good decisions come from the hands of Carol, who's really doing all the work behind the scenes. She was allowed to move into the Castle, but her room is too... imposing for her liking. It reminds her of everything that happened, of all of her new responsibilities as Queen. So, she uses it as a work station instead. And elects to sleep in Sans's room right next door, instead.

She tries her best to live up to Asgore's expectations, but seemingly falls short each time. She's grateful for Sans being around again, but she's upset that these are the circumstances that led to them getting back in touch. Not to mention that most of their interactions are work-related nowadays. But, she would rather it be Sans than anyone else. She made her armor as if she was making a cosplay, which is why it's so extravagent. It IS functional, but its very inconvenient, so she only wears it if she has to. Typically, she just wears pajamas under her cloak. She changed the Delta Rune symbol on her cloak in order to honor Undyne and Mettaton, along with all the others who fell to the human. Instead of a triangle in the middle, a star takes its place. Symbolizing their sacrifices.

With an unlimited budget and an engineering degree, Alphys & Sans spend a lot of their free time building gadgets. A lot of which ended up being weapons. Hotland has gotten a large revamp since Alphys became Queen, and it is one of the safest parts of the Underground due to all of the security measures in place.

More Kids in the Orphanage. ^^

More children of the Delta Orphanage. Either found or saved. Scars of their pasts clearly visible.

Shifty: A StoryShift Chara from a geno route where they failed and was gruesomely cut down because they were “In the way”. Coding corroded too much and had to be pieced together by hand. Scars visible and missing arm implications of lost coding and can’t be easily healed or fixed. Has nightmares a lot and usually found in the medical ward.

Swapy: Storyswap Chara saved before the AU they were saved from imploded. Has been so traumatized that they developed anosognosia and has the delusional belief that they will be picked up by their dead parents… Which sadly will never happen. (Not sure if I got the condition correct. If it wrong I apologize will see if we can fix it)

Seller: Storyfell Chara. From an AU that had a bad virus, she out of desperation destroyed it and fell into the trash void. She is friends with Skara, Dhara, Fara, and Dalla. Sees Skara as an annoying little brother.

Fink: Ink!Frisk is much like ink sans. However due to ink sans popularity and more attention he was gonna be forgotten. Unlike ink!sans Fink does not need paint to have emotions. However they have a crippling phobia of being alone. They don’t have their own paint brush but their hand can color and paint things but he prefers showing his art rather than doodles. He was found after wondering the white void for a long time and was brought to the orphanage. Now he can share many of his magical drawings and paintings with everyone.

Buttercup: Flowerfell Frisk variant (not frans au). Due to their AU having a glitch, they constantly died the moment they fell down to the underground. They were saved and brought to the orphanage helping stifle their disease. Their blindness was chronic but they are very sweet to everyone.

Felly: Firefell Frisk. First child saved by CC and brought to the orphanage. Her Toriel was too strict and burned her for any small mistake she made. After finding out the AU was long discarded and the universe was completely empty. After defeating Toriel Felly was happy to stay at the orphanage. But requested to keep her scars. Despite everything, she still saw Toriel as a good mom.

Now that I think about it, it’s ironic that in Twin Runes (and also a bit in "Standard" Undertale), even though UT!Toriel and UT!Asgore believe their children are dead, both of them are actually "alive" in some way. However, for one reason or another, they can’t (or won’t) reunite with them.

Chara has become a Determination ghost (I think that’s what it’s called), visible only to Kris, Frisk, and perhaps anyone with a red soul. Even though they now have a physical form in the Dark World, it seems implied that they can’t maintain this form in the Light World. Also, I doubt UT!Toriel or UT!Asgore would visit the Dark World anytime soon—unless something unusual happens (like Sans inviting Toriel, or Undyne involving Asgore). And even if they did, I don’t think Chara would appreciate it, considering that UT!Toriel tried to "replace" them with the first human child they came across (seven times, no less).

Asriel, on the other hand, became an emotionless and completely insane flower, to the point of killing his own father (though I doubt he even saw him as his father anymore by the time of Undertale’s events). Even in the True Pacifist Route’s ending, when Frisk meets Asriel after the battle, he asks them not to tell his parents that he’s actually Flowey, further highlighting the emotional distance he now has from them.

Im sorry, I know this is but a simple rb blog but I need to rant about this to SOMETHING.

End of ch4 DELTARUNE spoilers and rant under cut

Why are people acting like sans having a fling with Toriel is some new, out of character thing? Did we play the same undertale? The same Deltarune? Of course Sans is a bastard that dates your divorced mom. i feel like even though it must be hard for Kris to move on from the divorce it’s perfectly understandable for Toriel to seek something more and move on from Asgore, is it sad? Yeah, is it reasonable, also yes! Everyone is focused on Sans in this interaction, I barley see people talking about how Toriel feels. She ended a relationship some time ago and ever since her dead beat ex husband has been trying to get her back and she’s so over it, THAT day Asgore tried to offer her flowers, I wouldn’t be surprised if Toriel was fed up with it and when Sans (presumably) started flirting with her (LIKE HE DOES) she let him. Toriel is not a sailor being encapsulated by a siren’s song, she let sans in, she invited him over and offered him a drink. Sans is not some terrible guy here, he is just a guy flirting with a single woman. Is that what you’re mad about? Really?

Sans was probably aware of Toriel’s and Asgore’s relationship, and in that yes it is a kind of bitch move to flirt with a somewhat recently divorced woman BUT this isnt outside of his character, since Undertale he has been a troll and a bastard, even in Deltarune he has some pretty prick-ish tendencies. I think a lot of people are forgetting that.

Anyways, yeah I feel terrible for Kris, I have a divorced mom and when my (now ex) stepdad came into the picture I hated him so much and never once called him dad or considered him family, so I know how it feels, but I think its good for Kris to move on from their parents being… together. I think especially after chp3 Kris has a problem with moving on, and I think Sans and Toriel being together is a genuinely good plot point to force Kris into moving on from Asgore and Toriel. Which, who knows what that might lead too.

LIKE Kris obviously struggles too move on, in chp4 we get the info that even if placed in the same location, dark fountains alter based on the emotions felt at the time, and Tenna’s whole thing is that he cant move on. He cant move on from cable becoming irrelevant, he cant move on from Kris and Asriel moving on, he cant move on, and thats shows how Kris feels about moving on from their childhood, So Sans and Toriel becoming a thing might help Kris understand that they HAVE too move on, and might even help Asgore too

The whole game has a theme of “moving on” in the sense that every main character (Kris, Susie, Noelle, Berdly, and Ralsei)

Kris has to move on from their childhood, Ralsei needs to move on from the prophecy and his ‘purpose’, Susie needs to move on from her mean ways and tough personality to be more like herself, Noelle needs to move on from Dess and Berdly has to move on from Noelle and the idea that hes not actually as likeable as he pretends to be

That being said, (besides Noelle) all of these are being actively challenged, Berdly getting rejected and kinda like put in his place, Susie is having a whole character arc with Ralsei, who in turn is also learning to be more selfish and see himself as his own being, and Kris gets to move on from their mom moving on.

Sorry this is just rambling and ranting but I’m sick and tired, also this somehow devolved into a theory at the end? I dont know, I have so many thoughts I cant barley catch them to type them out. I hope you enjoyed, if even a single person is reading this

my fave part about soriel in both universes is the contrasts, contrasts everywhere!, things that are so different, so similar, familiar but opposite and then back around again.

An optimist and warm person beaten down by the world, and a nihilist that wanders around aimlessly, perhaps too aware of the futility of fighting a godlike anomaly. And yet somehow, despite the different origins, and the same situation, they pull each other out of the hole. Someone so maternal imbues some of her Care to someone who is so detached- but in his detached-ness still deeply cares about his brother... it's like two paths that go in wildly different directions but converge at similar points.

They are both so old- not just in literal age, but spiritually- yet have this almost fantastically romantic, shy, childlike romance. They have seen so much, yet they fluster each other with dumb puns.

I think sans and toriel both suffer over caring too much (sans to the point that he stops caring like some odd stack overflow, because not caring is easier than caring), and in having each other they get the rare, precious opportunity to stop caring, for a bit; the anomaly and the dead children aren't front and center for once. Something they can't usually afford. a brief respite. And in their being able to stop caring, soothing a heavy heart makes it so they end up caring even deeper.

Sans doesn't try to stop you at all even if you kill his brother- not until literally everyone else has also died and it's just you and him, and he's forced to stop avoiding the horror and confront them directly. The one reason he doesn't harm you, other than his nihilism, is his promise to Toriel- he doesn't care at all, but she made him care enough to watch for your well being. He did all that for what was effectively a voice behind a door. It is simultaneously so chaste, innocent, and so terribly romantic, almost soap opera-esque. I don't think Toriel and Papyrus, each on their own, could defeat Sans' lack of giving a fuck due to depression over giving too much of a fuck, but I think them together is exactly what sans needs to not really stop being lazy, but start actually enjoying life a little again. And someone who's also been so through the wringer being able to do that for him is sooooooooo...

Of course DR soriel is far less insane and more domestic- but i find it telling that toriel is willing to let loose, forget for a minute about her strained/dead friendship with carol, about asgore, the divorce, asriel, the suffering of her teen child she so desperately wants to understand and help but doesn't quite have the tools to do so. Toriel still cares too much- see susie and her checking in with alphys to make sure kris is ok- and yet one weekend she can throw everything to the wind and dance the jitter bug. For a moment she is young again. That's the magic of soriel, for a moment they're young again.

I know that kris is suffering, and I feel for them, I feel for susie, because the two were worried sick and I can't blame them, but man soriel is magical.

I definitely have a soft spot for people who make each other better in the direst of circumstances lol.

SPAMTENNA REVIEW (CLEAR DELTARUNE CHAPTER 3 + 4 SPOILERS)

No one asked me for this one. This ones for me.

Yaknow I think its beautiful, we all DROPPED THE ZERO and got with the hero... I'm just trying to warn you all.. Tony will soon brainwash us all to the point where we ask:

"Who's Jevil? I only know Pluey."

Some may be skeptical, "How would they be gay...?" Well I'm glad you asked.. I have NO DOUBT in my mind thats im wrong. (Until another chapter releases and we have to fight one of spamton's exes as if we were scott pilgrim)

I'm gonna list some evidence of these two characters being gay, If thats okay with everyone.

EVIDENCE 1: I'm just gonna say it. The divorce was Spamton's fault.

Going into Chapter 3 is like helping your friend through couples therapy, and after you show up and listen in on their session, you realize that your friend was definitely the problem.

WE (yes, we.) ALL thought that tenna was gonna be irredeemable. The way that spamton talked this guy up made us feel like tenna is someone who kicks puppies on weekends and uses money from their job to donate to organizations that are trying to bring back public hangings.

Then we meet the guy and he just has abandonment issues, yeah SURE he fought two kids but WHO hasn't?? (I surely have!)

In Tenna's battle, if you have one of spamton's equips on, the check dialogue will say this

Spamton wants him DEAD. The kids weren't enough for him he wants to take his life too!

In the scene where Tenna and Spamton interact, spamton says

As someone pointed out, this is REALLY messed up since the entire chapter, Tenna is scared of being thrown out and spamton's just here casually bringing that up

Its like the equivalent of your ex saying "Hey Aquaman how's it hanging! Wanna get back together?" when you told them while you were together that you're deeply afraid of the ocean because both your parents died in a shipwreck with you as the sole survivor of your family

His greed sickens me.. thats all I'm saying..

Don't act like you cared about the kids you sick fuck...

EVIDENCE 2: THE SIMILARITIES

They just have a lot in common in a nutshell. Tenna and Spamton have so many similarities in dialogue its insane...

Theres a lot of things in Chapter 3 to insinuate that they were once business partners, like how the Z room (which you could only get if you REALLY SUCK) was most likely a room for spamton, and about how the glitched out posters were almost definitely of spamton and tenna together making out sloppy style

Another thing that I've seen people point out is that the poster nearby Spamton's dumpster probably had Tenna in it also, but Spamton only ripped the queen part down that blocked him in a drunken rage, probably because he didn't want to see tenna's part

The main biggest similarity that you most likely noticed during your playthrough was the usage of "HEY EVERY !" in a good chunk of songs in deltarune chapter 3. You wanna know who ELSE shares leitmotifs like that..? Toriel and Asgore.

Atleast they have shared custody over one thing..

EVIDENCE 3: THE DIVORCE

We don't know much what went down exactly between them but we do know that they ended off rough.

In the secret boss (or mantle side thing your choice) quest, a digital version of tenna will start talking about spamton

After the phone call, spamton's face became pale, DASHED out of the room, and it seems like Tenna didn't see him after that (not including the divorce court)

Theres two options what could've happened, the likely one was

Gaster just called him: Maybe to just take control again, or to tell him to knock it off with the gay stuff. Maybe gaster's homophobic who knows!

Spamton did this little thing called acting: His ego couldn't handle telling Tenna how to be a big shot, and so he ran away when it was his turn to do his end of the bargain (This probably isnt the case)

Tenna helped Spamton all he could (from what we know) and spamton DINED AND DASHED when it was his turn to help Tenna, when he most likely didn't have any control over himself

I dunno if he could blame gaster when he told Tenna to invest into cryptocurrency though thats a LITTLE bit up in the air

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Let's have a tour of what Edge thinks of all his fellow skeletons.

Undertale Sans - Clearly a pale copy of his brother, but without anything to look scary. What is even the point of his existence? He would be long dead in his world. He swears the guy is hiding something though. He always feels uncomfortable when he's staring at him for too long.

Undertale Papyrus - He thought he was a pale copy of himself until his Undyne challenged him to fight with Lesser Papyrus and Edge got his butt kicked so hard he ended in shock. WTF. He has no LV and he swears he was still holding back to not hurt him. How strong is that guy??? Edge doesn't like him.

Underswap Sans - Unsufferable little shit that thinks is more clever than everyone because he's super fast. How the hell is he a royal guard? One of these days, he will show him he's not that clever when fighting a real royal guard. And he's not saying that because that little shit arrested him one day for driving too fast without a license. Not at all.

Underswap Papyrus - A decent one. Edge loves to hang out with him, especially in front of Blue to make him mad. Honey is a good cook, and he's not impressed by his edgy face. He doesn't consider him a friend; he has no friends. But if he had friends, they would be Honey-shaped.

Underfell Sans - What? You expect him to say he loves his brother or something? Get out of here, that's none of your business!

Horrortale Sans - He can respect that guy. When Edge bullied him, he for sure never expected to almost be beheaded by the largest axe he had ever seen. He stays out of his path now. That guy knows how to fight, even though he's not showing it.

Horrortale Papyrus - Fuck that guy. He came to find him after he bullied his brother and lectured him for two hours like a child. Does he look like a child? Anyway, when Edge tried to escape, he grabbed him by the arm with his gigantic hand and Edge realized that maybe it would be best to listen to him after all.

Horrorswap Sans - Looks too similar to his younger version but gets really mad when accidentally called Blue. Edge did the mistake once and got surprise by how fast that guy is despite having only one leg. That's a horror movie cryptid.

Horrorswap Papyrus - He doesn't like him or anything, but can't help but feel protective around him. I mean, look at him. He's like a lost puppy or something. The big bad world is going to eat him alive one of these days.

Horrorfell Sans - He's glad he could take his brother out of hell before this. Edge actually respects Copper a lot for surviving through the famine despite being as weak as Red. Edge tries to help him and his brother when he can.

Horrorfell Papyrus - He has a hard time thinking he could have been in that situation, but he admires Chief for not giving up. He's not sure he would have been strong enough to stay as optimistic despite the pain. Chief is a little bit like his model, and Edge likes to hang out with him when he has some time.

Swapfell Sans - Finally a good training partner that is both challenging and competitive. Edge has a lot of fun training with Nox (who is definitely not his best friend at all). However, he can see Nox is very haunted by his role in the Royal Guard. Edge saw that look in old soldiers he trained, who are here only because it's paying well. Except Nox is not old at all. He's worried he might make a big mistake one of these days and is in negotiation with his Asgore to sort of hire him in his guard, so he can take his distances with his Toriel. He can tell his Toriel is not a good person.

Swapfell Papyrus - He's so similar to his brother that it hurts. Lazy, loud, pranking people all day. It's not even a surprise Red spends all his days with him. Ok, maybe one or two of his pranks amused him at some point, and maybe that guy is somehow charming enough for everyone to eat in his hands, but that's definitely not Edge's case (yes. yes it is).

Fellswap Gold Sans - He sees himself a lot in Wine, maybe with a little (LOT, A LOT) of manipulation. He's not sure Wine sees him as a friend, but Edge is definitely going to him when he needs advice. He's a bit the father figure he never had even though he looks like his brother and it's really weird. But at least he is always (brutally) honest with him and Edge needs that sometimes.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He can tell Coffee is following him everywhere like he's some sort of role model. That made Edge uncomfortable at first, but now he's worried when Coffee is not there to follow him around, asking a hundred questions. He is used to that.

Outertale Sans & Papyrus - He doesn't know them. But they look like pale copies of his brother and him. Except these ones fly for some reason. How though? Skeletons don't have wings???

Dancetale Sans & Papyrus - How many of these pacifist guys are there out there? Why the hell these ones are dancing???

Dancefell Sans - Uh... He didn't think there could be a weaker version of his brother honestly but here is Rumba he guesses. He got confused that one time he asked him to show his fight move and the guy started dancing??? How the hell did he survive so long???

Dancefell Papyrus - What the hell is that. That guy looks like him but he acts like Mettaton somehow. Edge is very disturbed and doesn't like him.

Farmtale Sans & Papyrus - They are decent. He expected yet another version of those pacifist weaklings, but somehow Sam is a lot more interesting than the others, not scared to talk back to him or fight him when he gets too insulting. Edge can respect that. Ben reminds him of himself when he was younger, full of hope and very shy. He's worried he might get crushed by the world at some point.

Mafiatale Sans - Annoying as hell. Literally exploded his wall once because he insulted his brother. Edge is holding back everytime he sees his stupid face, he wants to fight that guy so bad.

Mafiatale Papyrus - Creeper is scary. He only feared Asgore before, but that guy is even scarier. He doesn't say anything. He keeps staring at him. Menacingly. Edge doesn't like him.

Mafiafell Sans - He wishes his brother was similar to him, a little more active. Too bad Fang hates him because of what happened with Torpedo. Edge wanted to know him more before it happened.

Mafiafell Papyrus - Torpedo is the version of him he for sure doesn't want to become. Insulting, condescending, thinking he knows everything and clearly has too much power. The first thing Torpedo did was to laugh at him, saying he looks like a clown in his royal guard armor, in front of all his friends. So yeah, Edge got mad and attacked him. Maybe he underestimated the crazy amount of LV this guy has. You can only reach that by killing for fun, Edge saw that LV in the monsters he executed for Asgore. He doesn't like him, he knows Torpedo is a ticking bomb that will cause at some point a lot of damage because, with so much LV, it's impossible to stay in control for long. Edge hates him and hopes he will never turn like that.

Ink - ???????? His brain can't understand what that Ink guy is. He prefers to say out of his way.

Error - He can tell he's dangerous, but he's not sure why. He's uncomfortable around him and doesn't want to know more about him.

Disbelief Papyrus - Despite clearly being a clone of the pacifist guy, he can tell this one went through a lot and is a lot more similar to him than he would like. That Papyrus lost a lot of things and sacrificed his life so his universe could survive. Edge respects him a lot and tries to show him he's there if he wants to talk, even though he's not the best at that.

Killer Sans - Even though his brother likes him a lot, Edge prefers to keep a safe distant. He saw that guy LV, it's way too high for someone who pretends so well to be a jokester. Edge is not fooled by his little game. That Sans is dangerous.

Dustale Sans - He acts like Doomfanger??? He fights with Doomfanger??? Is that skeleton a skeleton or a mutant cat? He's not sure.

The first thing to remember is that despite the jokes in both the Fandom and the games, the Dreemurrs are NOT actually 'Goats'. The Dreemurrs have a mix of caprine (horns, ears, general head-shape) and leonine (feline paws, fangs, Asgore's mane) traits... I actually have a lot of thoughts about this design, about how it's inspired by the Chimera of Classical Myth, subverting typical 'satanic' imagery, and a sort of concept that all the Dreemurrs having a sort of Internal Contradiction about them, as symbolized by the fact they are modeled on two animals with very opposite cultural connotations... It's very much not a simple matter of 'goats'!

The Holidays, in comparison, are very blatantly Just Reindeer. They don't really have any traits that aren't andromorphic or Reindeer-like. It even seem to extend to their Diet, since Noelle dislikes eating meat and enjoys a salad because it's 'something to graze one'.

As for the question of 'could they be Boss Monsters', well.... here are the three traits we know for certain define 'Boss Monsters' (not just stuff we infer from the Dreemurrs, but stuff that was stated to be specifically traits of Boss Monsters)

They are the strongest type of monsters.

Boss Monsters only age as their child mature.

Their SOULs are the only ones strong enough to persist after death.

For the first point... Hmmm... I mean, Noelle isn't particularly stronger than Susie as a Party Member on the surface... but Queen sure is obsessed with her 'strength', and then there is the Snowgrave Route...

For me, the reasons behind these two points have always been "Queen was partially created as a manifestation of Noelle's Mommy Issues so she is metaphysically predisposed to see Great Potential in Noelle and be obsessed with her" and "Snowgrave/Noelle's Ice Magic in general is a Dark World manifestation of her trauma, and its intensity is what makes it so dangerous. Also it's not necessarily indicative of how powerful her Magic would be in the Light World". But if you wanna assume it's because she's a Boss Monster, I guess that works too?

For the second thing... Now the thing is that the explanation (and demonstration) of the way Boss Monsters age has always used one offspring as an example.

When they have an offspring, the SOUL power of the parents flows into the child… Causing the child to grow as the parents age. But ASGORE doesn't have a child. So he's been stuck at the same age… And probably will be forever.

So... we just don't know how this process would be affected if the Boss Monsters had two children like the Holidays have (had?). Part of me is like "If Boss Monsters could only make one child without dying that would mean every generation would have at maximum half the Boss Monsters of the previous one which mean they'd go extinct pretty quickly, so they should probably be able to reproduce at least twice?" but also... Boss Monsters are already very rare, maybe even already close to extinction?

Still, I just gotta ask myself, does that mean Rudy and Carol are physically older than Toriel and Asgore? Cause even if Dess is dead, they had double-the-children the Dreemurrs had for 10+ years? What would happen when Rudy dies? Would that mean Carol will start aging faster as Noelle's only growing up using her energy? Can characters know if Dess is dead or not based on the Holidays aging?

...Okay honestly the last one sounds intriguing, but outside of it, the mechanics of Boss Monsters aging brings up a lot of Complications to the Holiday Family Drama that you'd think would be at least implied/hinted at by now if they were really Boss Monsters... At least that's what I think.

(Again in contrast to the Dreemurrs in Undertale, for whom all this Lore was crafted in the first place. Between the simple plot-need for Asgore and Toriel to be considerably longer-lived than basically any other major character, and the whole thematic thing of Asgore and Toriel's life literally and metaphorically 'stopping in place' when Asriel died, the idea that they were both somewhat 'cursed' with the burden of immortality due to the destruction of their family and the sort of inherent tragedy that Toriel is still destined to lose any new child she has... I really cannot emphasize enough how this is wonderfully crafted Lore specifically for Asgore and Toriel's plotline in Undertale)

But the third one is obviously the Big One... And is the main reason I am pretty 'ehhh' about this idea. Specifically because we know the Holiday family exists in the Undertale timeline as well, with Noelle and Dess being alive when Frisk frees the Monsters.

Because a LOT of Undertale's emotional drama was based around the idea that there are only two Boss Monsters (and only one the Player can contact once they leave the Ruins). Asgore is specifically the one Monster a human would HAVE to kill in order to escape to the Surface because that's the only Monster SOUL that doesn't disappear immediately upon death.

...Obviously if a Player's only three options are Asgore and then two innocent deer girls that hardly makes the moral dilemma easier, but it would certainly be relevant for less morally scrupulous players! Flowey destroys Asgore's soul at the end of every Neutral Playthrough to stop the Player from acquiring it... which wouldn't necessarily matter if there were 2-3 (I don't think we have info on whatever or not Carol is still alive in the Undertale timeline) other possible Boss Monsters out there!

That's without even getting into questions of when Rudy "Fell Down" and hey, wouldn't a dying Boss Monster be relevant to Alphys' research into making Monster SOULs lasts...

It just... kinda like how the Lore about Boss Monsters Aging was perfectly crafted for Asgore and Toriel's trauma in Undertale but will be needlessly complicated if transplanted into the Holiday Family Drama, the existence of Only Two Boss Monsters is perfectly crafted for Undertale's narrative and would get needlessly complicated if you added Noelle and Dess into the mix!

...Of course, none of this actually matters for your theory, Anon, since this is all about the idea that Dess took Kris' original SOUL... which is NOT actually a Boss Monster exclusive thing! This has never been an implication in the text!

Mettaton's plan also hinged on taking Frisk's SOUL to become more powerful than Asgore so he could defeat him and save humanity.

And the Mad Dummy had somewhat similar plans as well.

Any Monster could take a Human SOUL. If you wanna theorize that Dess has Kris' original SOUL, allowing her to become a "a horrible beast with unfathomable power" (The Knight), it absolutely does not require her to be a Boss Monster for it to work.

(Now, the Undertale Lore also implies there is no way to extract a Human SOUL without killing a Human, which was ALSO very important for it's plot and themes... but clearly there is SOME sort of a way around that in Deltarune)

I think UT Asgore also just...also hates himself and his mistakes? Even though he obviously feels compelled enough by his duty to DO what he does, he clearly doesn't think he's RIGHT about it in the same way that DR Asgore does. In some ways they're almost like foils. UT Asgore thinks he's wrong to the point of self-destruction while nearly everyone else around him thinks he's right. DR Asgore is convinced that he's right, so right that things will HAVE to go back to normal as soon as he proves it, but no one else agrees. The truth of what happened is still unknown, but even if he were somehow proven completely 100% correct - which I seriously doubt will happen - he's still dead wrong about what the results would be. His own actions have ensured that.

I'm also remembering how UT Asgore (if Flowey doesn't kill him first) realizes nearly immediately that his dream of regaining a happy family with Toriel is nothing more than an impossible fantasy. It is a little different (His Kids Are Dead, it's literally impossible), but DR Asgore seems completely unable to come to the same realization even though Toriel is actively right here divorcing him.

The UT version just seems like a far more grounded and mature character - not too surprising, maybe, considering the vast differences in situation and backstory. It's a little hard to picture DR Asgore doing something incredibly painful just because he believed others needed it from him. I mean, wouldn't that just be...accepting the divorce and letting go?

yeah absolutely... i think because he feels like he's never had the chance to try to prove himself right, therefore he's never had to like question it the same way? not sure how to put it. after six souls, UT Asgore was heavily full of doubt because things just kept getting Worse despite his decision. DR Asgore hasn't had that space of time of trying the same thing over and over and burning out on believing it will work.

maybe dr Asgore should hate himself more.

Are there any Canon ships in your story, like the Undyne × Alphys ship?

Alphys has a big old nerd crush on Undyne. The dork even cosplays as her fishy crush! Kinda awkward with the whole anti-human crusade bit... but it's well made at least!

Toriel and Asgore are also happily married, though it's been ages since they were able to be together for more than a few minutes. I remember getting a bit of hate for this despite this being an AU and there was no declaration of war or dead kids to cause the separation.

Oh, RG01 and RG02 are doing well too!
