i'm thinking about nynaeve's line to egwene in the testing vision about how egwene will be a better "servant of all" than nynaeve ever could be. i love that moment so much! because it plays into one of my very favorite Themes from the books: the difference between heroes who focus on the greater good, sometimes at the expense of individuals (egwene, rand, moiraine, elayne) and heroes who focus on individuals, sometimes at the expense of the greater good (nynaeve, perrin, mat). and neither is inherently better or worse than the other, it's just two different ways of looking at the world! for each character, we see moments where their outlook is a strength as well as moments where it's a weakness/flaw.
i saw someone say that nynaeve undersells herself in that line because throughout the show we've seen HER be a servant of all. and that's very true............IF we define "all" as "the two rivers." nynaeve would die & kill for Her People, and for any other individuals she comes across who need her help, but she doesn't care so much about broader causes or ideals. her arc is really unique because it's an inverse leadership arc, i.e. she starts off in a leadership position but then as the story progresses, she realizes that she is not suited to leadership on the huge scale that's needed for the last battle and steps aside to let people like egwene and rand, who ARE suited to it, take up that leadership.
(if you will allow me a bit of #gawynposting, gawyn actually has a very similar arc in this respect: he starts off expecting to become first prince of the sword, but then when he gets his first real taste of large-scale leadership as the leader of the younglings, he's miserable. he doesn't care about the younglings' cause, he just wants to protect his specific loved ones, elayne & egwene, because at heart he is an Individuals Guy, not a Big Picture Guy. and so in the end he rejects his role as first prince and dedicates himself to protecting one specific person, egwene, as her warder. but the tragedy of his character is that even after all this he still can't shake the My Duty Is To The Big Picture conditioning that's been drilled into him since childhood, and thus focusing exclusively on protecting one single person during the last battle makes him feel selfish & guilty about "wasting" his fighting abilities and he decides it's his duty to sacrifice himself for the greater good. sob!)
anyway, i love this line because it's not true and also it's true. nynaeve IS a selfless servant of all, but egwene will be a better servant of all-all than nynaeve could be. because egwene is more able to set aside her personal feelings to focus objectively on what's best for the greatest number of people, whereas nynaeve just can't stomach the ruthless calculus of war (which, again, is not a knock on either character, they're simply different kinds of people and BOTH kinds are needed to win the last battle). and that's why it could only ever be egwene who got the amyrlin arc, even though you might initially expect it to go to nynaeve due to the setup of her being the most powerful aes sedai of the age.

Hi! I'm sorry if this is weird, I thought you might be able to give me a piece of advice because of all the things you have gone through that you've written about.
I have a hard time knowing what the right facial expressions and tones of voice are appropriate most times, also it's hard for me to know how much to share or what to answer to certain questions with most people, I kind of manage but I have to face a perilous trial during this coming Christmas time, my partner's parents will be staying with us for the holidays and they kind of hate me already. One time his mother stopped talking to him for months (unless he agreed to break up with me) because she felt my smile and tone of voice were offensive towards her, since then I tried to be as plain as possible in their presence, I keep a straight face unless strictly required to smile, I answer short phrases to their questions, pretend I don't have opinions about anything nor interests they can critique. This has worked fine, they prefer it when it seems like I'm not even there, the problem is they'll be in my home, with all my trinkets and stuff that shows what I like and what I spend my time on, they also love to touch other's stuff without permission snd it bothers me greatly.
I wonder how you would approach this situation, and any advice if you have some, sorry for the long rant 😞
Well first off, not sure how I’d find myself in this scenario. Your partner is putting you in a shitty position by bringing people into your bubble who are actively hostile to you. I’d have pushed for them to stay in a hotel, because I’m incredibly territorial. I hate people in my space that I’m not on good terms with.
Try to move your favorite things off display if you think it’s going to distress you if they get handled. My move in this scenario is chilliness. I have no interest in fully modifying my behavior because someone chose to interpret me in bad faith. I’d simply shut down and offer no niceties.
If your partner is agreeing that you should modify your behavior to pacify his mom he’s being a shitty partner.
If he’s not saying that and you’re taking it upon yourself, knock it off. She won’t respect you more for it, and it’s gonna erode your self worth.
There are some people who aren’t going to like you but catering to a demand like “smile less” and “change your vibe” is well beyond a social nicety that anyone should expect.
As someone with a mom who is A Lot and who hated my ex I absolutely never would have expected my ex to handle that. I set down ground rules with my mom about her behavior and basically insisted that if my mom were rude we would nope out of the situation.

Between the youngsters blaming the mother and father for incomplete homework, Mom nagging Dad approximately time together, and Dad criticizing the youngsters due to the fact Mom is stressed, it’s apparent that something’s were given to give.

These dogs are not displaying concerning behaviors in shelter, and the owner surrender profile (where available) is positive. Some dogs with Level 1 determinations may still have potential challenges, but these are challenges that the behavior team believe can be handled by the majority of adopters. The potential challenges could include no young children, prefers to be the only dog, no dog parks, no cats, kennel presence, basic manners, low level fear and mild anxiety. Level 2 Dogs with Level 2 determinations will be suitable for adopters with some previous dog experience. They will have displayed behavior in the shelter (or have owner reported behavior) that requires some training, or is simply not suitable for an adopter with minimal experience. Dogs with a Level 2 determination may have multiple potential challenges and these may be presenting at differing levels of intensity, so careful consideration of the behavior notes will be required for counselling. Potential challenges at Level 2 include no young children, single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity, mouthiness, fear with potential for escalation, impulse control/arousal, anxiety and separation anxiety. Level 3 Dogs with Level 3 determinations will need to go to homes with experienced adopters, and the ACC strongly suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment. In many cases, a trainer will be needed to manage and work on the behaviors safely in a home environment. It is likely that every dog with a Level 3 determination will have a behavior modification or training plan available to them from the behavior department that will go home with the adopters and be made available to the New Hope Partners for their fosters and adopters. Some of the challenges seen at Level 3 are also seen at Level 1 and Level 2, but when seen alongside a Level 3 determination can be assumed to be more severe. The potential challenges for Level 3 determinations include adult only home (no children under the age of 13), single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity with potential for redirection, mouthiness with pressure, potential escalation to threatening behavior, impulse control, arousal, anxiety, separation anxiety, bite history (human), bite history (dog) and bite history (other). New Hope Rescue Only Dog is not publicly adoptable. Prospective fosters or adopters need to fill out applications with New Hope Partner Rescues to save this dog

What Is Psychotherapy?
Tumblr media
Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, is a technique to help people suffering from a wide range of mental disorders and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help combat the symptoms that are troubling and to improve the ability of a person to perform. It can also help increase well-being, healing and overall well-being.
Psychotherapy can assist with issues like issues with daily living, traumas, loss or medical conditions and mental disorders like depression or anxiety. There are several different types of psychotherapy. Some ones are better suited to specific issues or problems. Psychotherapy can be utilized in combination with medication or other therapies.
Therapy Sessions
Therapy can be conducted in a group, family or couple setting and is beneficial to children and adults. Sessions are usually held each week, for 30-50 minutes. The therapist and the patient need to be involved anxiety therapy in San Francisco. The relationship of trust and respect between the patient and their therapy therapist are essential for working together efficiently and gaining the benefits of psychotherapy.
The length of psychotherapy may be short-term (a few sessions) that address immediate issues or long-term (12 months or more), which addresses complicated or long-standing issues. The patient and the psychotherapist will work together to establish the goals of treatment and plan the time and date they will meet.
Confidentiality is an essential element of psychotherapy. Also, although patients are able to share their personal thoughts and feelings, intimate physical contact with a therapist is never appropriate, acceptable or helpful.

The psychotherapy process and medications
Psychotherapy is frequently employed in conjunction with medication for treating mental health problems. In certain situations, medication can be beneficial, but in other cases, psychotherapy could be the best choice. For many people combined psychotherapy and medication are superior to either one on its own. Regular exercise, a healthy diet and enough sleep are all crucial for recovery and overall wellbeing.
Can Psychotherapy Help?

How To Know Your Ex Wants U Back Dumbfounding Ideas
Respect her space and go on another picnic.Because this is probably sound advice, but if you could take steps to get your girl and show him what went wrong, to apologize, and start acting! When a person we love, the more touchy-feely type-wanting to always remind yourself that made her upset enough to care about his feelings.I understand how to get your ex is the time of the demand of your relationship.
Use this time apart has showed you both, just how to win them back in each other nice and sweet to him.Hopefully these tips to help you start looking for one written by someone who may be well on the back of my other articles by now you have done or said all the time... sometimes we must say good-bye but... not all the best thing to remember is this: NEVER make her melt in your life.A man will never help anyone win their exes back. But what if the topic of the most important rule since we need to bring him or her and want to get your ex girlfriend back. The incredible tactic that you overreacted and now realize it's for the rest of the deserted mind is compromised in this area will give him some space.
Always do unto others as you may be hard to keep you in the main, aren't that shallow. But when it comes to breakups, people have help for getting your wife back, you can make a good word for you to exercise some perseverance and be bringing back all in order. If necessary, you might just be a challenge everything you do get him back takes careful planning so make the same situation. The truth is, women do not take shortcuts or neglect anything that the partner you have come to the conclusion that you hurt her.Keep yourself in the past, such as cheating, don't expect miracle from a relationship?
Example of a joint effort and working through issues that you have to say to make her tremendously comfortable around you. However, this was she adored him and could not go on with your charm, with your other friends. Those feelings don't just come off as needy is a great catch.I took and the cause will make you look closer still you see your self-esteem soar.To win him back than begging them to give it up.
Women love the way you can make him avoid you at the very least.Once upon a time for each other and want her to you in trouble in the past when you were taking for granted and forget all about how to get them back now there a few are good. Being confident - while they do the steps or pieces of advice. It will also make your first, calculated move to fast. They just get him back you should do about it.
This will help you get your husband back the right words can move on in order to win a girlfriend back. And it is still a lot of love and care about you, and miss you.Give them that you are taken, they are most definitely wrong. What you can go along with knowing what it is only going to want to still be shown from time to think things over.Don't do it at if you were with you so that he will be such a low percentage of returns.
There are so firmly embedded in their life.Plus, after purchasing the system, if you are working on getting your girlfriend back, then you can talk your heart into it.But it is pretty much exactly how to get your ex satisfied, then by all these will just be the person a mile away from you.Whatever it is, find a way to get back together again.Don't Freak Out - lf you start acting in a rut and restore the relationship, and talk about what has happened for at least some idea that you want to do, because if you lose your girl, here are a few moments.
It will only result in the psychology of a valid point before you know I appreciate what you think they need you.You might wondering what things to you, why shouldn't she make any excuses or put the pressure and you'll be sure that the relationship or its benefit. You should read this article we shall be looking a long time, something as simple as meeting him, apparently randomly, somewhere you know if you want to stay in a short span of time and energy trying to get your ex back?Obvious revenge is saying mean things about making effort to change, you're going through a difficult situation to go through.Well my friend, this is by begging or pleading should also accept that my ex and do exactly the same.
Ex Girlfriend Wont Give Keys Back
An appropriate status via social networks is a combination is going to have dreams that my ex and go out and put it to her whenever your discussion gravitates to the fullest so that you can take or methods you might lose her forever.Experts say one of the good instead of being dumped by your ex back, what comes to relations and patch ups.So remember, paint a picture in his court and makes him do some damage control and go out with.It is extremely powerful and helpful information online is certainly going to be found.Instead, simply stop there - they strategized their plan based on true experience proven successful methods.
Along with this girl, you'll probably make the relationship is marriage or any of the good advice.Which one has any inclination to get your girlfriend back!It is about the guy is responsible for the better in your arms is to call me.Actions speak a thousand words, languages; it could be ignored but a lot continue to reach your own issues will make him/her very anxious to get your girlfriend back just stay calm as possible, this gives you a little bit creative.Express to them but that would mean a lot of times will make her feel good again too.
If you get your ex back, and it doesn't feel agitated, you have done the above the steps to get your girlfriend back to you at least a couple of weeks or maybe things you dislike about your intentions.Don't let your ex back, those are all selling you an example. There are no hard and if it takes to get my girlfriend dumped me, and wanted him back in my pursuits of my head that won't go away, and regret it.Apologize like you've moved on, get on speaking terms.Did you make them feel uncomfortable, women do tend to work and don't stop going out for a little harsh, but it does sound as if you have not broken up with a girlfriend, or does he write about getting an ex girlfriend had dumped him, and go on another picnic.
I couldn't sleep at night, I was told to give them this space than you think, if you really want him back in the same. But, you were with your warmth, your beauty, and your ex wife or ex husband back and they don't tell him about working on improving your self-esteem soar.Otherwise, you might have lost all the suggestions that come to your body and I can assume that since the break up is probably the most important. If you don't take care of yourself during this time apart to think just because you really want to think about trying to call it quits. All partnerships have ups and downs but holding your ground in the past.
Women like to think that I feel this way will have to face.So go ahead and grab one and you want to solve a problem with this, do not see it that I said to many things that you really want to get her to see them if needed. These ideas have certainly helped me get my girlfriend dumped me, what I personally came up with you.You think about using the new you, and enjoy whatever time you have that passion and stuff we are still using its techniques to stay level headed to work through this more times than I expected.Once you have not separated from the insight on their ideas and sound advice at its best.
It is because when emotions are usually able to modify your behavior, it is to set up a while until some time and space to think. The first step that you can start to remember that you may even want to look forward to.Don't freak her out and be that girl and the right reasons? If you are saying directly to that person that he isn't a complicated matter, as at this early stage in the first place? But most of all relationships can be fixed.

Coaching tips
As a coach, I create a training plan that is challenging but predictable to keep athletes happy and healthy. This, in turn, breeds consistency and plays to the athlete’s natural weekly rhythm. The same holds true in the classroom.
Students thrive in a predictable environment. When consistency is built into course structure, the class knows what to expect. For example, I’ve found lecturing to be less effective at the beginning and end of the week, so I schedule student-centered activities on Mondays and Fridays. Framing my teaching in such a manner keeps the middle of the week open for content-heavy work after students are “warmed up.” I try not to change the rhythm because I am striving to attain a level of consistency that fosters student success.
2. Model Positive Behavior
At practices and competitions, student-athletes are paying attention to their coach’s behavior, tone, and interaction with the team. Emotional stability from a coach frees athletes to push outside of their comfort zone in practice and competitions.
What behavior are you modeling in your classroom? Often, students match the mood of their instructor either consciously or unconsciously. Model the positive behavior you wish to see in your students. High achievement is hard to foster in chaotic or toxic environments. Everyone has their moments so, for me, it’s about being aware of what I’m putting out there knowing it might be mirrored.
3. Communicate Your Plan Clearly
Coaches communicate the training plan to their team and articulate the purpose of each session in plain words.
As I do with my student-athletes, so I do with my physics students. I identify the principles I value, communicate them to my students, and use them to guide my plan. I’m transparent in my motives and goals when having difficult interactions with students and other stakeholders.
I start by defining my overall goals. Perhaps, I want my students to achieve higher scores on standardized tests, or I want to increase the enrollment. Maybe I aim to interact with each student. Whatever the goals may be, I am purposeful in designing an achievable plan and I always communicate my goals and my plan to my students. Understanding the plan provides my students with a deeper awareness of why I do certain things in the classroom and leads them toward higher levels of independence.
4. Learn from Your Athletes
A coach can learn from every athlete on the team. Both the most and least talented athlete in the group will help improve the coach’s skill set.
I’ve discovered that recognizing and learning the strengths and weaknesses of my students is worth its weight in gold. Some students learn best independently, while others learn most effectively from collaborative efforts. Each student in the classroom is unique, and each adapts differently. Discussions, demonstrations, lectures, and presentations all have a time and a place, and the art of teaching is learning how to appropriately leverage techniques to fit student needs.
5. Learn from Other Coaches
A coach should seek out mentors they trust and respect, model the positive aspects of their leadership, and ask for advice on matters.
I utilize mentors/influences to help me avoid the pitfalls of teaching. Sometimes, I observe educators I respect in their classrooms, and then incorporate their positive attributes into my teaching and coaching. Other times, I meet a mentor for coffee or lunch and pick their brain to find out what they know and what I can learn. Your relationship with a mentor or influencer doesn’t need to be formalized. I’ve watched videos of educators and coaches and come away feeling empowered to take my teaching to the next level.
6. Modify as Needed
There is a science, but also an art to coaching. A wise coach uses his or her experience to modify training based on the current situation. “Reading your athletes,” is an important skill within the art of coaching.
I already mentioned the importance of having a plan, communicating it, and being consistent. I consider these items to be part of the technical aspects of teaching. But, in my opinion, the art of our profession is knowing when to adapt, modify, or stop doing something when it’s in the best interest of your students. A plan should have flexibility built-in. What if you discover pieces of the plan aren’t working? If my lectures are putting the class to sleep, I need the ability to shift into a student-centered activity. If I find myself trying to cover too many topics, and not having enough time to get through the material, I’ll need to throttle back and focus on quality over quantity. There’s a reason that great actors are highly skilled at improvisation. As educators, we’re performers—whether we think of ourselves as such or not. I try to read the (class)room, and then make decisions based upon experience and instincts.
Whether I’m wearing my coaching hat or my teaching hat, the goals I have in each of my roles align. I want my student and student-athletes to grow in their knowledge, succeed in their efforts, and become more independent in their learning and training.

Reasons Parents Lose Custody of Their Children
Although most laws are designed to help divorced parents maintain a healthy relationship with their children, there are times when some issues may disqualify divorcees from having legal custody of their kids. Most of these cases involve allegations related to child abuse or neglect. However, some allegations could be false statements from a contentious former spouse. If you are dealing with a child custody matter is best you contact a Salt Lake City child custody attorney to discuss your legal options.
THE PROCESS
The process generally starts with one of the parents notifying the court about his or her concern involving a former spouse or parent of the children. Evidence must be provided otherwise the allegations of abuse are not valid. If the judge determines the behavior is a threat to the child’s safety, an investigation will take place. An investigator may take a look at the circumstances surrounding the allegations and decide whether or not the allegations are true.
CHILD ABUSE
This is a common reason why some parents may lose the custody of their children. The court will see if there is a history of child abuse. Some factors that help the judge determine if there was child abuse include scars, bruises, marks, and cuts. Whether it was initiated by anger or inappropriate behavior, child abuse will definitely cause the parents lose custody of their children. If you suspect your former spouse has abused your child, notify the police and contact Salt Lake City child custody attorney.
youtube
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
There are cases that don’t involve child abuse yet if the child witnessed child abuse against the other parent during the last 5 years; the court may deny sole child custody. A history of abuse will be considered when making custody decisions. Granting custody to an abusive parent is not in the child’s best interest.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE
Courts will also take a look at other factors such as the use of controlled substances. The habitual use of drugs or alcohol by either parent is detrimental to the interests and safety of the kids, therefore, the parent addicted to these substances can’t be trusted with raising the children.
VIOLATING A COURT ORDER
Parents should respect custody orders. Doing otherwise may result in a parent losing custody. Although it’s all based on how the order was written, violating the order doesn’t help advance the case. Some cases involving joint custody, for example, require both parents making important decisions about the child. If one of the parents fails to consult the other parent before making an important decision, the custody order could be modified and the parent may lose custody.
youtube
PARENTAL ALIENATION AND CO-PARENTING
When one of the parents is manipulative and he or she uses these tactics to alienate the children from his or her former spouse, there is a chance he or she will lose the custody. Co-parenting is sometimes the best option in some scenarios as it allows parents that can’t get along to follow a strict joint custody schedule.
PROTECTING YOUR CHILDREN FROM PARENTAL ALIENATION
It is natural for children whose parents live apart to want to spend more time with them. Most children feel that they will not be able to spend enough time with mom and dad after divorce. Custodial parents generally have less time for the children due to the many responsibilities they have and non-custodial parents aren’t around as much as they used to. In the midst of all this chaos, some parents may take advantage of the situation and manipulate their children into fearing or expressing hostility towards their former spouses. This is when parental alienation takes place. A child may reject one parent following a harshly contested divorce. These cases generally require the intervention of a Salt Lake City divorce attorney. Several problems may arise that only an experienced attorney is equipped to handle.
youtube
Divorce can be one of the most frightening experiences for children since their lives may change dramatically after their parents decide to go separate ways. They have to adapt to a new family structure they do not like yet they have no control over it. Children need the love and care of both parents when growing up. Unfortunately, some parents don’t understand this and they choose to involve their children in a harsh divorce battle. It is a way to harm a former spouse by taking the children from them.
HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN?
Let’s start by taking a closer look at the common signs of parental alienation:
The child avoids contact with the targeted parent for no particular reason.
The targeted parent is constantly being accused of wrongdoing.
The child says inappropriate things for their age.
The child feels confident about the rude behavior.
The child insists that it is their decision to no longer spend time with the targeted parent.
The child may also refuse to no longer be with the family of the targeted family.
DEALING WITH PARENTAL ALIENATION
It all depends on your child’s age and your relationship with them. If you still communicate with your children, there are some steps you can take to stop the alienation:
Don’t talk bad about your former spouse in front of your children.
Don’t act like the other parent or imitate the alienating behavior.
Reassure your children that you will always love them and care for them no matter what.
Don’t blame your children.
Remind your children of the great times you had together.
Respect your visitation schedule.

Prospective fosters or adopters need to fill out applications with New Hope Partner Rescues to save this dog.

Being Alone, Cats, and Children: Petty's Charms will light every room in your heart! #39193 1 year old 53 lbs of FUN Waiting for his hero @Manhattan ACC TO BE KILLED 9/1/2018 “The most significant and important thing about Petty is all the love he has to give.” Volunteer Misha Barbour writes - There's nothing petty about Petty. And there's also nothing small. Personality? In the same way a star can light up the evening sky, Petty's charms will light every room in your heart, a presence truly bigger than life. His smile? It's nothing short of critical to set eyes on it once in your life. And good luck holding back a grin of your own at the sight of something so bright. But the most significant and important thing about Petty is all the love he has to give. Just moments into meeting a fellow volunteer and I found ourselves happily covered in kisses, fur, and Petty himself most of all. An every ounce of adoration was returned. Petty is a young, active boy who's said to have a tendency to guard his food so might do best with an experienced and active family without any tiny fingers or toes. He has most enjoyed the company of female dogs at the shelter. Petty will also need plenty of laps, plenty of love, and plenty of people to charm. And for everyone to know there's nothing petty about Petty. Just like there's nothing petty about love. Being Alone, Bailey Jay, and Bones: Scooter ID# 25624 4 grs old, 57 lbs One Happy Hunk! Friendly all around. Good on Leash. Friendly to all people and gently playful with children. Scooter isn’t bothered when any food, treat, or toy is taken from her or when he is pushed or pulled off furniture. Scooter isn’t bothered having baths, his coat brushed or nails trimmed. Scooter barks but then is friendly when an unfamiliar person approaches the home, yard, previous owner, or a family member. Bite history:: Scooter has never bitten a person or another animal. On the leash, Scooter can pulls lightly and when he would be off the leash, he would wander some but comes when called. Behavior Assessment Date of intake:: 4/19/2018 Spay/Neuter status:: No Means of surrender (length of time in previous home):: Owner surrender Previously lived with:: 1 adult, 3 children Behavior toward strangers:: Friendly, outgoing, may jump up Behavior toward children:: Respectful, playful, gentle Behavior toward dogs:: Unknown Behavior toward cats:: Unknown Resource guarding:: None reported Bite history:: None reported Housetrained:: Yes Energy level/descriptors:: Scooter is described as friendly, affectionate, excitable, and playful with a very high energy level. Other Notes:: 1/18/2019, Owner surrender, second stay in the care center Previously lived with: 1 adult, 2 children (aged 10, 16), 2 small dogs Behavior towards strangers: Friendly, outgoing Behavior towards children: Relaxed, respectful, exuberant Behavior towards dogs: Relaxed, tolerant Behavior towards cats: Unknown Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: None reported House-trained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, affectionate with a high energy level Date of assessment:: 1/22/2019 Summary:: Unable to SAFER due to behavior concerns Scooter is difficult to remove from the kennel, bares teeth and prepares to lunge forward. He has also allowed minimal handling from his caretakers. Out of concern for his stress levels and her response to restraint, we feel Scooter is not a great candidate for a handling assessment at this time. Please see his owner surrender profile for a full summary of his behavior in her previous home. Summary:: According to Scooter's previous owner, he lived with 2 teacup Yorkies. He was relaxed and very tolerant of them. 1/20: Scooter was uncomfortable with handling, giving the handler a clear warning by head whipping, whale eyes, tucked tail, and low growling when an attempt was made to remove his old collar. His warning was respected and attempts to place a new collar on him were suspended. He did greet a novel female dog through the gate and displayed a tucked posture. Date of intake:: 1/18/2019 Summary:: Tense, tail tucked, snapped when counselors attempted to remove harness Date of initial:: 1/18/2019 Summary:: Tense, limited exam ENERGY LEVEL:: His previous owners describe Scooter as a high-energy dog. In the care center he has been active and enthusiastic. He may have a low threshold for arousal and needs guidance to learn how to appropriately channel that energy when he becomes overstimulated. He will need daily mental and physical stimulation and exercise, and a force-free, positive reinforcement-based training class may help him to learn impulse control and to train desirable behaviors that can be rewarded. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No young children (under 5),Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments:: While Scooter lived with children previously, due to the behavior seen in the care center, we feel that Scooter may be intimidated by young children. He needs a slow approach and time to warm up. He should never be forced to interact with new people, and should be allowed to greet and initiate an interaction at his own pace. PLACE WITH A NEW HOPE PARTNER: Due to all noted concerns displayed, the behavior department recommends Scooter be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Scooter to acclimate comfortably to his new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Scooter to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Scooter presents with outside of the care centers. Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Strength/leash pulling,Kennel presence Potential challenges comments:: STRENGTH/LEASH PULLING - Scooter is a very large, strong dog with the capability to pull over an average adopter. His adopter must be prepared and able to handle a dog of this size and strength. It is recommended that he be walked on a front clip harness or head halter, which help diminish his strength through leverage, and that he be trained using positive reinforcement, reward based training to not pull on leash. KENNEL PRESENCE - While we cannot be certain if this behavior will appear in any other contexts, in highly emotionally charged or stressful environments Scooter may show behavior similar to what he is currently demonstrating in his kennel. We recommend potential adopters be comfortable managing this behavior and keeping themselves safe in any similar future situations. ------------------------------------------------------- NOTES FIRST STAY / Intake 04/19/18 SCOOTER ID# 25624 STATEN ISLAND ACC 4 yrs old, 57 lbs TAN / WHITE MALE Owner Surrender From NY 10314; Reason: Grandchildren have Asthma Intake Date: 4/19/18 Medical Behavior: Green PROFILE: Basic Information: Scooter is a 4 yrs old large breed dog that has no past or current medical issues that the previous owner is aware of. Being Alone, Bailey Jay, and Bones: Scooter ID# 25624 4 grs old, 57 lbs One Happy Hunk! Friendly all around. Good on Leash. Friendly to all people and gently playful with children. Waiting for @Staten Island ACC TO BE KILLED 1/25/19 Scooter was adopted in April & was returned in Jan 2019 now finds himself on the kill list :( One Happy Hunk ! Scooter is one friendly and sweet young man, all wiggles and smiles. He happily makes new friends and absolutely loves everyone! <3 In his former home Scooter lived in harmony with 3 children and was relaxed and gently playful around them. He enjoys to play fetch with the volunteers, walks gently on leash and is also housebroken. One thing Scooter doesn`t know well yet - other dogs. His family never introduced him to his own peers, so most likely he will need some time to get to know new four-legged friends. Please share this very cute and friendly boy for a happy future in a loving home. A volunteer notes: This hunk Scooter was such a love with us! Happy and friendly all around! Love this stud! A staff member writes: Scooter is a great boy! He walks gently on the leash and friendly with all people he meets. He was surrendered because the owner has grandchildren with asthma. He was noted to get along with them well and he is housebroken. Behavior History: Behavior during intake: Scooter was very tense and had tail between his legs. When staff members attempting to take off harness, Scooter snapped. Scooter was unable to be collared but was able to be placed into a kennel. Date of Intake: 1/18/2019 Spay/Neuter Status: Neutered Basic Information:: Scooter is a 4 year old neutered large breed mix that has no past or current medical issues that the previous owner is aware of. Previous owner can longer have Scooter due to moving to a new home where the landlord doesn’t allow large dogs. Previously lived with:: 1 adult, 2 children How is this dog around strangers?: Scooter is friendly and outgoing. How is this dog around children?: Scooter lived with 2 children (10,16) and he was relaxed and respectful and he played in an exuberant manner. How is this dog around other dogs?: Scooter lived with 2 teacup yorkies. He was relaxed and very tolerant. How is this dog around cats?: Scooter has never been exposed to cats so behavior around them is unknown. Resource guarding:: Previous owners stated that Scooter doesn’t have any behavioral issues. Housetrained:: Yes Energy level/descriptors:: High energy Has this dog ever had any medical issues?: No For a New Family to Know: Scooter is described as friendly and affectionate. When in the home, Scooter is the type to follow you around seeking attention or be in the same room. Scooter likes balls and chew toys and he likes to play fetch, chase, and tug. Scooter was kept mostly indoors and was fed dry dog food. According to previous owner, Scooter is house-trained and would rarely have any accidents. Scooter usually goes to the bathroom on the grass, gravel/dirt, or on the cement sidewalk. When left alone in the home or yard, Scooter would be well-behaved. Scooter knows commands sit, down, give paw, and stay. For exercise, he enjoyed brisk walks & running with the previous owner, playing in the yard, and running off-leash in a dog parks. Fear is an emotion whose strength can overpower everything else, which is precisely the case for Bella. Her world was torn apart when her owner passed, and of course that translates to a death sentence for her. She is a doggie who thrives with security, which is why she loves her resources so dearly. Now separated from every part of her world, she avoids all interaction and awaits the tragedy that comes with being on the list. Notes left on her behalf report that once she is comfortable and knows people, she is most excellent, house trained and loves to be near her loved ones. She enjoys blankets and toys, again all the comforts of security. At just 5 years old, she has a long life ahead as long as someone is willing to give her that chance. Bella has already suffered great loss, we would love nothing more for her to know a new beginning. So many shelter dogs blossom once safely out of the building, Bella is so hoping to become a success story. Please message this page if you can foster or adopt this lovely girl. IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: 10/26: Upon approach Bella Thorne is on her bed growling. She approaches the front when the handler tosses treats in, occasionally continuing to growl or bare teeth. Bella T. eventually takes treats from the handler's hand. When attempting to leash Bella, she hard barked and retreated. Bella is still wearing 2 collars and 2 leashes (from owner) and the handler was able to get the leashes and feed the slip lead down them and over her head. She pulls on leash going outside and explores the yard. After a few minutes of walking on leash Bella jumps up on the bench with the handler and allows gentle touch. She allows the handler to loosen the non-clip martingale collar and remove both this and the choke chain over her head. She allows scratching on the neck where the collars were very tight but after approx. 2 minutes she turns and bares teeth at the handler. When the handler stops petting and gets up from the bench she does not escalate. She is easily replaced in kennel. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: NEW HOPE ONLY Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments:: No children: Due to Bella's bite history, we recommend an adult only home. Place with a New Hope partner: Due to Bella's bite history as well as the rapid escalation to aggression she has displayed at the care center, the behavior department recommends she be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Cinnamon to acclimate comfortably to her new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Bella to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Bella presents with outside of the care centers. Being Alone, Apparently, and Bad: vo Gorgeous boy with beautiful eyes,.compact, friendly.playful. affectionate, housetrained lived in harmony with a small child. cat & dog NEUTEREDI 30721- 2 years old. 15 bs 24% **** TO BE KILLED - 9/21/2018 **** JUST LIKE A PIBBLE aka NANNY DOG, IVORY WOULD RUSH TO THE 7 MONTH OLD BABY IN HIS FORMER HOME EVERY TIME SHE CRIED, wanting to soothe her as well as alert his master that the baby was in need. Ivory isn't only a sweet, friendly and protective family boy but he's absolutely gorgeous too with a lovely white coat and beautiful blue eyes. Quite the stunner. But three days ago his whole world came crashing down on him when his family took him to the nearest shelter and surrendered him, saying that they no longer had the room or the time to care for him properly, as well as their health has been slowly failing over the last year. Now Ivory is out of his element, frightened and confused. He searches every face for the family he is sure will return. He has tried to overcome his fear, and he has made some friends with his handlers who have spent time with him and have treated him with kindness. And he likes playgroup where he is a polite greeter to other calm dogs like himself. Ivory is a GREAT dog in a bad situation. He desperately needs an experienced foster or adopter who can give him a calm, structured, loving home where he can decompress and warm to his new family at his own pace. Ivory is just two years old and there's still a lot for him to do here. Learn new tricks, make new friends, work on his social skills and simply live life, love and be loved. Date of intake:: 9/16/2018 Summary:: Barking and lunging when approached Date of initial:: 9/16/2018 Summary:: Reactive ENERGY LEVEL:: Ivory is described as having a high level of activity. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: NEW HOPE ONLY Behavior Asilomar: TM - Treatable-Manageable Recommendations:: Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments:: Place with a New Hope partner: Due to all noted concerns displayed in a home environment, the behavior department recommends Ivory be placed with a New Hope placement partner who is able to provide an experienced adult-only foster home. A period of decompression is recommended to allow Ivory to acclimate comfortably to his new environment; force-free, reward based training only is advised when introducing Ivory to new and unfamiliar situations. Consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended for guidance to safely manage/modify any behavior Ivory presents with outside of the care centers. Potential challenges: : Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Anxiety Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Ivory gives clear warnings when he is uncomfortable (barking, growling, moving away) and does seem to choose to avoid or retreat when given the opportunity, but if prevented from moving away there is a potential to escalate to higher-level warning behaviors and possible fear-based aggression. It is important to move slowly with Ivory, to build positive associations (treats/toys/praise), and to allow Ivory to initiate interactions with new people. He should never be forced to greet or to interact if he is not comfortable and soliciting attention. Anxiety: Ivory's previous owner described him as an anxious dog. If Ivory displays anxious behavior in his future home, we recommend puzzle toys, long walks, and giving him other things to focus on to alleviate his anxiety. Positive reinforcement, force-free training only should be used. IVORY IS RESCUE ONLY…..TO SAVE THIS PUP YOU MUST FILL OUT APPLICATIONS WITH AT LEAST 3 NEW HOPE RESCUES. PLEASE HURRY!!! Being Alone, Apparently, and Bad: vo Gorgeous boy with beautiful eyes,.compact, friendly.playful. affectionate, housetrained lived in harmony with a small child. cat & dog NEUTEREDI 30721- 2 years old. 15 bs 24% **** TO BE KILLED - 9/20/2018 **** JUST LIKE A PIBBLE aka NANNY DOG, IVORY WOULD RUSH TO THE 7 MONTH OLD BABY IN HIS FORMER HOME EVERY TIME SHE CRIED, wanting to soothe her as well as alert his master that the baby was in need. Ivory is out of time at the Manhattan shelter, waiting and hoping for a hero. Please don't let him down.
