To Take Care
[Dew being soft. That's it, that's the whole fic.] Below the cut.
Dew settles into one of the plush, leather armchairs in the ghouls' common room, the one that sags a little when anyone sits in it, the springs so pressed down they awkwardly cradle his form instead of pressing back.
The bump of his head against the backrest elicits a groan, from the chair or his own mouth, no one could tell, even Dew himself, and he's certain he felt the air pass through his lips.
He's the kind of tired that leaves his whole body feeling like a heavy, immovable lump, and, in spite of that, he's carried himself quite well up until this point.
Mountain calls it a "boots off" situation; When you sit down, suddenly you don't have the energy to get back up.
Any and all motivation is gone.
Boots off.
Left by the door.
Not going back on.
...Barring an emergency of course.
With a long, deep sigh, Dew feels himself sink deeper into the thinning material, eyes half shut as he uses a fragment of his willpower to turn his arm over to examine a stray thread between his finger tips.
He could sleep like this.
He really could.
But he fights it, biting back a yawn as he surveys the room.
The new kids are asleep; Aeon on the couch, his lithe body stretched selfishly across the entire thing, while Aurora is tucked into a ball on the loveseat, pressed so tightly against the upholstery Dew knows it'll leave a mark on her face.
Despite the protests of his knees, Dew stands, stretching slightly, before popping the top off of a nearby ottoman and pulling out a couple of neatly folded knit blankets from inside.
He takes a moment to knead the material, remembering when Cumulus had asked him to come along with her to pick out the yarn she was going to use to make it.
"You'll probably use it the most, so you should decide." she'd said, and she wasn't wrong.
Back then, he had only recently transitioned from water to fire, and his body had decided that anything short of an oven wasn't warm enough for him anymore; Essentially, with everything being comparatively cooler than him, he got chilly quite easy.
How and why that was -and still is- the case, even Dew isn't sure, but having a blanket or two ready and available was always a good thing, and the fact that it was handmade made it even better.
He sniffs the fabric and hums softly.
Even after years of use and several trips through the wash, it still smells a bit like Cumulus' perfume.
The other blanket is a heavy thing, bought on tour years ago from some chain store in America when they'd needed to scavenge some extra supplies for the bus.
It's an unfortunate bedpan pink, it's big and can be folded to add a little extra weight across your body.
He weighs the two blankets in his arms before setting about covering the two sleeping ghouls.
Aurora snuggles easily into the fluffy white knit of the blanket Cumulus made, her lips turning upwards in her sleep, but doesn't wake.
Aeon, however, blinks up at Dew, purple eyes peaking through his lashes as the watches the older ghoul layer the blanket over him.
He doesn't say anything at first, letting Dew tuck him in, but mumbles his thanks when the other is done.
"Go back to sleep." is all Dew says in return, returning to his chair.
Now.
Now he can sleep.

AND ANOTHER THING, "fashion history" didn't begin at the industrial revolution. You can't just wave a hand and say "we can make a replica." Fashion history IS TEXTILE HISTORY.
Also, also! like, people identify knockoffs of high end brands because the creators don't use the right materials, or the same construction methods. You think someone who studies fashion or textiles isn't going to come into a museum and immediately clock that something is a replica? Do you think a teacher is going to send their students to study the items on display at the nearby museum if they don't show the techniques or materials under study?
This is SCIENCE! It's just...you can't just replicate it with modern methods when the yarns don't exist anymore. You can't just run a dress through a 3D printer. You can't replicate a hand sewn garment on an industrial sewing machine and expect it to be a stitch for stitch match! Hell, just trying to replicate lace can be a Process. Textile arts amd sciences are so badly underappreciated, and assuming that ACCURATE replicas can be obtained on the budget available to a museum just proves how much that's true. You might as well pick up a Flapper dress from a Halloween store and claim it's museum worthy.

Green Glam: How Recycled Wool is Changing Fashion for Good
In the ever-evolving world of fashion, a transformative trend is taking center stage, and it's not just about looking good – it's about doing good. Sustainability has become the buzzword, and recycled wool is emerging as a critical player, stepping confidently into the limelight. In this journey through style and conscience, we embark on an exploration of how recycled wool is not just a fabric; it's a movement, making waves as a beacon of sustainable chic.
The Essence of Green Glam
Let's dive into the heart of the matter and demystify the term "Green Glam." It's not a call for sacrificing style for sustainability; instead, it's an invitation to embrace fashion as kind to the planet as it is to your wardrobe. Here, recycled wool is versatile in this green movement, adding an eco-friendly twist to our chic attire.
The Revolution in Fashion
Fashion is more than threads and fabric; it's a powerful statement. Recycled wool, in all its cozy glory, is making a profound statement in the fashion world, revolutionizing how we view and wear sustainable styles. Imagine your favorite sweater or coat boasting the latest trends and carrying a compelling narrative of environmental responsibility.
Leading fashion brands and visionary designers are swiftly catching onto this sustainable wave, weaving recycled wool into their collections. This isn't a fleeting trend; it's a fundamental shift towards fashion that conscientiously acknowledges and minimizes its environmental impact.
The Making of Recycled Wool
Understanding the intricate process behind recycled wool can deepen our appreciation for this sustainable material. It begins with the rescue mission of discarded woolen items – old sweaters, blankets, and the like. These treasures are then meticulously processed to create a yarn that retains the quality and warmth of conventional wool without the hefty environmental footprint.
Manufacturers are pushing the envelope, adopting innovative techniques to ensure that the production of recycled wool is as green as the material itself. It's not merely about reusing; it's about reshaping fashion's role in the planetary narrative.
Fashion for Good
The allure of recycled wool lies not just in its eco-friendliness but also in its undeniable style. Fashion for good is not a paradox; it's a tangible reality. From snug sweaters to trendy coats, recycled wool seamlessly proves that sustainability doesn't demand a compromise on style.
The surging demand for environmentally conscious choices drives brands to get creative with recycled wool. It's not a niche market anymore; it's a movement fueled by individuals who want their fashion choices to mirror their values.
Benefits for the Planet
Let's delve into the numbers, the unsung heroes that signify positive change for our planet. Opting for recycled wool is more than a fashion statement; it's a tangible contribution to a cleaner, greener Earth.
Recycled wool significantly diminishes the need for new raw materials. It slashes water usage, curtails energy consumption, and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional wool production. Every recycled wool garment becomes a small but impactful contribution to a healthier environment.
Making Green Choices Accessible
Sustainable fashion isn't a luxury; it's a necessity that should be accessible to all, not just those with deep pockets. The heartening news is that the industry is catching on. Brands are actively working towards making green choices that are not only affordable but also readily available.
Initiatives are sprouting up to bridge the gap between sustainable fashion and the average consumer. It's not about exclusivity; it's about inclusivity – ensuring that everyone can play a role in building a more sustainable fashion landscape.
The Future of Fashion
What lies ahead in the intricate dance between fashion and sustainability? If the current momentum persists, we can anticipate recycled wool playing a pivotal role in shaping the
fashion industry's future.
Predictions point towards increased adoption and continued innovation. As more consumers prioritize eco-friendly choices, the fashion landscape is poised to shift towards materials that are not just fashionable but also environmentally responsible. The future looks not just greener but also undeniably stylish.
Conclusion
In the grand tapestry of fashion, recycled wool is more than a thread; it's a narrative of style and sustainability. Consider the story it tells as you peruse your wardrobe for the following fashion statement. With recycled wool, your style becomes more than a reflection of your taste – it becomes a part of a broader movement towards a greener, more conscious world. Here's to Green Glam and a future where fashion doesn't just look good; it does good, too. Cheers!

heya! do you think you could do a shinsou x reader in which she's a 1-A student and isn't afraid of him, but instead treats him with kindness and they slowly get closer? bonus if you could have bakugou be her childhood friend and have him be protective of her. thank you so much
I was a First yearstudent at U.A. , class 1-A Hero Department, along with my best friend sincechildhood, Katsuki.Of course, he has a bit (a lot) of a temper and a sort of God complex, butthat’s mostly to hide his insecurities and some bad ideas that his motherimplanted in his head.
The better you are, the worse consequences yourmistakes have.
I try to calm him down when needed the best Ican, but it doesn’t always work…But hey, it’s at least really nice to havesomeone who cares and is protective of you in this new world of heroes!
The only problem, I think, is that there is aterrible hostility from class 1-B towards us, and worse, many students from thenon-hero classes are also incredibly jealous and look down on us, as if it’sour fault they got there.
Well…There is one person who is bitter, butnot in a negative way, but in a way that motivates him to strive forward andbecome better, to become a true Hero, to help others in need.
Shinsou Hitoshi.
He is in class 1-C and since the Sports Eventswhere he went against Izuku, and everything he’s done to get to the finalstage, I had my eye on him since he intrigued me greatly.
He looked like a cute, sleepy kitten withlavender hair, and of course, that made me approach him one day andcongratulate him on his performance there. He isn’t the most sociable one, so our conversation wasn’t too long, but fromthen on, whenever lunch started, I’d go pester him, trying to be friendly, andoffered to help him train in hand-to-hand combat, since if anything happens andsomeone with a Quirk like Aizawa-sensei’s appears on the enemy fronts, we haveto know how to defend ourselves, and thankfully, he agreed!
This made us get closerto each other, him warming up to me, and all I can say is - JACKPOT!
Of course, just like Sensei, he’s a fan of cats,so I suggested to go to a cat cafe, to relax for a bit since we really neededthat.
There, small tables weren’t available anymore,so we had to stay almost cuddled together on a comfy sofa with two incrediblysmall and fluffy kittens who were playing together, which I can’t stay muchbut…It melted my heart completely.
(Also, I’m not gonna give this away to anyone, but the owner ofthis place is my friend so I reserved this place and told her the plan inadvance so this particular scenario would happen~)
“Thanks for showing me this place, Y/N. I didn’t know our city hadsuch a nice Cat Cafe.” hemuttered, a passive, calm smile on his face.“I come here at least twice a month. It’s my favourite place torelax and I thought you’d like to see it as well.” I grinned at him, letting one of thekittens climb up on me and snuggle against my neck.“How did you know I liked cats?” he asked, looking at me, his head tilted slightly like oneof the little kittens who’s confused.“Because you remind me of a kitten. Fluffy hair, your scarftangled around you like a kitten with a yarn ball…And I just guessed, really, you seem like a Cat person.” I shrugged, smiling up at him, seeing a small blush creepingon his face.“O-Oh…I see…Thank you, Y/N.” he muttered, hugging the little kitten in his hands.“Your Quirk really intrigued me when I first saw it. I could onlyimagine how powerful it could be against Villains. Say, someone attacks acivilian, then you pop in, make him talk and BAM, he can turn against hisallies. I was surprised you weren’t in the Hero courses, but I guess this onlyserves as a strong motivator to show everyone that you can be better than theseguys and get in 1-A or 1-B with your own forced and determination.” I told him, pouring tea into our cups.“You don’t think it’s a Villain Quirk?” he asked, snapping his head at me, lookingsurprised.“To be fair, I got kinda mad when I heard people say that aboutyou. I mean, U.A. is a place for all people to show that they can be Heroes, and do good for others. The fact that you’re here just proves this.Y’know…Being childhood friends with dear Bakugou Katsuki means that I getcertain…Perks, let’s say.” I winked at him, giggling slightly as I drank the hot tea.“What do you mean…Perks?” he asked, an eyebrow arched in confusion.“Gods, you look more and more like a kitten…Well, he was #1 atthe Sports Festival and his Quirk is really flashy and dangerous. Mine as well, you could say. So really, if anyone annoyed me, he was there to scare them off. That also meant whenever someone thrash-talked you. I don’t take lightly peopleberating people I care about, you know?” I shrugged, playing it cool.“Why would you defend me…? We didn’t even talk back then…Whyare you so nice with me…” heasked, looking down, trying to understand.“I mean, at first I just really admired you, I guess…But otherthan thatCan you think of no reason?” I tried to nudge him with my question, asanother kitten jumped in my lap.“You can’t possibly like someone like me…Could you?” he suddenly raised his head to lookdirectly at me, his face rosy and eyes wide.“I don’t see what’s not to like about you, Shinsou. Really…Ithink you’re a role model many should follow. Maybe it’s you who needs to seethe good in yourself.” Iwinked holding the kitten in my lap and getting it closer to Shinsou’s face, tonuzzle his cheek.“I suppose no matter what I say, you’re going to retort, hm?Then…I guess I could get used to this…To you…To us…” he muttered, nuzzling with the kitten.“Then, would you like to give it a try? I can’t see anything goingwrong anyways. We’re the cool people of U.A. and nobody can tell me otherwise.” I beamed, leaning back on the sofa seat, smirking at him.“Mhm…Thanks, Y/N. If you wouldn’t have said all these things, Idon’t think I’d have ever had the courage to properly confess to you. I mean, Ididn’t actually, but close enough.” he chuckled awkwardly, which only made me smile at how cutehe was, and kiss his cheek.“I can’t say no to Kittens, okay? Oh, which reminds me…Thesecats are for adoption, so if you ever wanna-” I try to imply, but my words were cut short by him noddinghis head vigurously.“Yes. No more questions. We will adopt these two kittens.” without thinking twice, he said that, hugging the kitten in his arms protectively.“I knew you’d say that. Ah, I swear, I’m so happy I planned forthis date for one month…So worth it!” I smirk in victory.“One month-” hetried to say but I shushed him quickly.“Shhh! Don’t fret the details, just enjoy this day and all theones that are to follow!” Ireplied with a wink, getting closer to him and leaning to his side.“Sounds good…I like this. Just you, me and kittens.” he nodded, leaning his head on mine.
Seeing that, he gulped and sighed, getting the courage to wrap his arm around my side so I could lean on his chest.
“Good luck tomorrow on your exam. I mean, I will be there…Hell, we might even get to be in the same team. 1-B vs 1-A… I know you’ll be accepted, there’s no doubt about that…But…I really hope Aizawa-sensei will let you get into my class from Year 2. “ I smiled in content, thinking how nice it would be for him to finally achieve his dream of being in a Hero Class, and I to have him close to me.“It would be nice…After all, you’ll be there. Not much more that I could want in life.” he grinned, petting my hair like he would pet a kitten.
How great it is when all your carefully planned plots all go soperfectly well~.

I think there is a conversation to be had about the availability of books and libraries in different countries, especially the global south, because you can't get access to books as easily everywhere as you can in the US for example. But we've had the conversation about pirating books in bookish communities for ages (studies show that people who pirate actually buy more books, people who pirate because they have no other access wouldn't buy the book anyway, yada yada yada) so I don't wanna talk about that anymore.
But the yarn and by extension fiber arts conversation... I feel like fast fashion has really destroyed our understanding of the labour that goes into creating clothes and how much it would really cost if everyone was fairly compensated. Nobody forces you to buy a 30$ skein of handspun yarn for you to be able to continue with your hobby. It sucks that not everyone has that kind of money, but demanding that other people, who do this either in their free time or have a small business, sell their products to you at a loss because you think the price isn't justified is nothing but entitled. Heck, I would love to purchase some Harris tweed for a dream sewing project, but I currently don't have the money for it so I won't be able to. And that's okay because the people who weave it deserve to be fairly compensated for their labour, I don't demand to get it cheaper/for free just because I can't currently afford it
loving the internet progression where the meaning of “poor people deserve nice things” went from “poor people are also allowed to buy things like fast food, video games, and brand name items instead of eating gruel and sitting on the floor lest they spend their money frivolously” to like, “if you charge money for your labor youre classist bc i cant afford to pay for it” especially when it comes to art, books, and clothing
#long post#ofc clothing needs to be accessible for everyone#but the harsh reality is that with the way it currently is a lot of people aren't fairly comoensated for their work#also like to really drive the point home let's take my most recent cosplay project as an example#it's glinda's bubble dress from wicked#to give you a rough idea what it looks like: the skirt is made up of 36 petals that have sequins handsewn onto them in a gradient effect#taking just the labour cost for the hand sewing of the sequins witj the current minimum wage in germany which is 9€ something#that task alone would cost almost 1400€ if you commissioned me#and i don't hate myself enough to do that for others at minimum wage#and it's only one part of the costume#also materials were over 300€ alone

@simplyghosting red heart acrylic yarn used to at least be cheap (it isn't anymore), but it's coarse, and rough, and irritating. I used it pretty much exclusively growing up because it was what was available to me, and I got used to carrying bandaids around with me because the friction from the yarn would drag gashes in my hand. It's also very inconsistently sized, which means a pattern made in red would come out significantly larger than the same pattern made in light pink or a variegated yarn. And heaven forbid a pattern call for more than one color.
HL ILTY is extremely soft acrylic, and all as close to the same size as possible (dye has a lot to do with it, but rh doesn't even try), and so easy to work with. Even their 100% cotton is very soft. It's also terribly expensive.
The best alternatives were Bernat and stitch studio by Nicole, but Nicole doesn't exist anymore, and Bernat is almost impossible to find.
I had a dream about crocheting but I actually spent the entire time trashing red heart yarn and bemoaning not being able to afford I love this yarn.
I can't even afford I love this yarn in my literal dreams.
#Nicole had its problems but i made an enormous afghan for $20#bernat i made an average afghan for $100#twice
