Promises in the Quiet
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tyler Owens x Reader
Summary: Tyler Owens bonds with his newborn daughter, Hazel, promising to protect and love her unconditionally while overwhelmed with emotion during their first moments together.
Chapter Warnings: Intense emotions, mentions of childbirth, and tearful moments.
The hospital room was softly lit, the faint glow of the evening sun filtering through the blinds, casting warm shadows on the walls. The steady hum of the machines created a gentle, rhythmic backdrop, filling the space with a sense of calm. Y/N lay in the hospital bed, finally surrendered to the deep sleep that comes only after enduring something as monumental as bringing new life into the world. Beside her, Tyler Owens sat in a chair, his heart still racing from the overwhelming experience of the past few hours.
In his arms, bundled in a soft, white blanket, was his newborn daughter, Hazel. The nurse had suggested skin-to-skin contact, gently encouraging Tyler to unbutton his shirt and hold Hazel directly against his chest. He had been hesitant at first, unsure of what to expect. But now, as he sat there, feeling the warmth of his daughter’s tiny body against his bare skin, any lingering doubts or fears faded away, replaced by something much deeper—an indescribable connection.
Tyler looked down at Hazel, his eyes wide with wonder. She was so small, her delicate features almost impossibly perfect. Her tiny nose, her rosebud lips, the way her eyelashes rested against her cheeks as she slept—it was all too much, too beautiful. He could feel her breathing, each gentle rise and fall of her little chest against his, her heart beating steadily in time with his own.
As if sensing the safety of her father’s embrace, Hazel stirred slightly, her tiny hands uncurling from the blanket. One of her hands brushed against Tyler’s chest, her fingers splaying out as if reaching for him. The touch was so light, so delicate, it sent a shiver through him. She was so fragile, so dependent on him already, and yet, in that moment, she seemed to be the one grounding him, anchoring him to this new reality.
Tyler’s breath caught in his throat as he watched her, the weight of the moment crashing over him in waves. His vision blurred as tears welled up in his eyes, but he made no move to wipe them away. He didn’t want to miss a single second of this, didn’t want to lose focus on this perfect, fleeting moment.
“Hi, Hazel,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. He reached up with one hand, carefully cradling her head, his thumb brushing over the soft fuzz of her hair. “I’m your daddy.”
As if in response, Hazel’s eyes fluttered open, just for a moment, revealing deep, dark eyes that seemed to be searching for something familiar, something safe. She looked up at Tyler, her gaze locking onto his, and in that instant, he felt his heart swell, the tears spilling over as he smiled down at her.
“Hey, baby girl,” he whispered, his voice trembling with the intensity of the love and awe he felt. “I promise you, Hazel, I’m going to be here for you. Always. I’ll protect you from anything and everything this world throws your way.”
His voice broke, a tear slipping down his cheek and landing on Hazel’s tiny hand. She flinched slightly at the drop, her fingers flexing and then curling around his thumb. The simple act, her trust in him, undid him completely.
“I’ll be your protector, your guide,” Tyler continued, his voice low but steady now, each word a vow etched into his soul. “I’ll make sure you never have to face anything alone. Whatever happens, I’ll be there, right by your side. You’ll always have me to lean on.”
He paused, swallowing hard, his throat tight with emotion. “I promise to love you with everything I have, to show you the beauty in this world and shield you from its darkness. I’ll be your biggest fan, your loudest cheerleader, and your safe place to land...and maybe the man to embarrass you. I’ll teach you to be strong, to be kind, and to never give up.”
Tyler leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to Hazel’s forehead. She blinked up at him, her tiny mouth forming a soft, almost contented sigh as she nestled closer against his chest, as if she could sense the love and protection he was offering her. He could feel the warmth of her skin, the delicate rise and fall of her breathing, and he knew, without a doubt, that he would move mountains for her.
“I promise to protect your dreams, to encourage you to chase them, no matter how big or small,” Tyler murmured, his lips brushing against her soft hair. “And I’ll always remind you how much you’re loved. Not just by me, but by your mom, by everyone who will come to know you. You’re going to be so loved, Hazel.”
Another tear slid down his cheek, followed by another, but Tyler didn’t care. He was too overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of what he felt for this tiny, perfect being in his arms.
As he continued to hold her, Tyler felt something shift inside him, a deep, unbreakable bond forming between them. He knew in that moment that no matter what life threw their way, he would keep these promises. He would be the father she needed, the father she deserved.
And as Hazel drifted back to sleep, her little hand still wrapped around his thumb, Tyler closed his eyes, letting the tears flow freely. He held her close, breathing in the sweet, new-baby scent of her, and whispered one final promise into the quiet of the room.
“I’ll love you forever, Hazel. No matter what, no matter where a storm leads me to. I’ll love you with everything I am.”
And as the sun dipped below the horizon, bathing the room in a warm, golden light, Tyler Owens sat there, holding his daughter, his heart full to bursting, knowing that this was just the beginning of a lifetime of promises he would keep.
Requests for Tyler are open be free to send in as much as you wish!

cw: apology smut. minors dni.
this is the first time you've let katsuki touch you since your last argument, and katsuki's breath hitches sharply in his throat when you don't automatically withdraw from him. it's sad honestly - it's just a simple brush of his hand against yours as he tries to grab the fridge handle, but the fact that you don't quickly shuffle away from him or give him an annoyed look carries a little too much hope for him.
it hasn't even been a long time since you've started giving him this silent treatment, but the man cannot last more than a couple hours, let alone a full day of you being cold to him. you have to admit it's immature to ignore him, but don't you have the right to be immature once in a while? after all, you endure a lot being married to him, enough that you've stayed off social media, and enough that this is the first time you've actually brought something up to him.
seeing katsuki smiling so widely, laughing with someone else, even if you do ultimately believe him that the relationship with the young, pretty up-and-comer is platonic and the apparent closeness is accentuated by the angle from which the photo was taken, you're still annoyed and made it clear so. after all, you don't appreciate looking like a fool.
he clears his throat and you don't turn to look at him, sitting down at the kitchen table and opening a book as you sip a glass of apple juice with no ice. bakugou pauses, hand sweatier than usual around his own glass of water, and watches you. contemplating. can he try again? will confronting you one more time only prolong this silence or will you cry and dig your heels in, risking a chance to lose you altogether?
he swallows hard, throat suddenly dry, but cannot bring the glass of water to his lips.
then you sigh and look up at him.
"katsuki."
katsuki moves almost too quickly to stand before you, anxiety laden in every step. your eyes slide to the chair next to you and he sits, knees turned in your direction, glass set down too quickly, enough that it wobbles but doesn't fall. ice clinks within and settles.
"yes... princess?"
you twist your mouth to the side but can't really form the words to apologize. after all, you aren't really the one who transgressed; rather it was katsuki not being careful enough to make sure certain pictures didn't run the chance of upsetting you. you're still not sure how that particular magazine made its way on your very doorstep but here you were.
"do you love me?" you ask, firmly.
"so much." he insists. his hands find one of yours and covers them. his eyes are pleading for you to forgive him, the fire of defensive anger no longer behind them. katsuki doesn't yell at you when he's angry but his voice raises. he fights with his words and his fists clench. instead today he holds your hand carefully. he's not a threat and will never be, but he wants you to know that especially today.
you sigh.
"you need a better pr team," you say. katsuki squeezes your hand, lips pulling into a tentative smile.
"i'll fire everyone."
you give him a look, then giggle. "that's not exactly what i asked."
"i know, but it's an option." he brings your hand up to his lips to kiss the back, and you smile.
your husband is yours, no matter what the media may suggest is a more compatible new flame, and he sets out to make sure you know that. you are the only one for him.
so in tune with your shifting emotions, the moment your eyes flicker to his lips, filled with longing, he's kissing you. the act of your mouths connecting turn into a natural acceptance of your tongue, and then the pull of your body, still in last night's pajamas, into his lap. your arms wrap around his shoulders, and you kiss him more, even deeper; he sucks at every part of you, hands finding their way up your shirt, then unbuttoning them until your breasts are bare, pressed against his chest. he lets you disrobe his torso, until you are skin to skin, and the rays of the sun seeping through the kitchen blinds form patterns on your exposed bodies. your hearts pound, and you breathe against each other, rutting against fabric, then your soft parts. you let him slip inside you, his eyes nearly rolling back in his head as he groans and let you clench around him. the rock of your bodies moving against each other is slow and deep, then fast and desperate until you're clinging to his shoulders and you're crying out his name, trembling.
he carries you to the bedroom still connected, and he recommences until your legs shake and he's whispering his vows again to you into your bosom.
you are the only one for him, and he hopes you'll always have him.

I watched and ranked every Tom Cruise movie so you don’t have to
Simple premise: 45 movies. One actor. Ranked from worst to best, on a sliding scale of -2 to 6 (scoring will make sense as you read).
Technical score is judged on how well the plot is constructed and how well the characters grow and serve their role in the narrative throughout the movie, as well as how well the narrative is written. Enjoyment score is judged on how much I liked the movie: no stars = didn’t like, 1 star = like, 2 star = really like. Bonus star is awarded at my discretion, for reasons such as costuming, soundtrack, particularly stand out acting, etc. Sexism modifier is a negative if women are treated badly, but can add an extra point if the movie gives women their rights. Overall score at the end determines where they sit in the rankings of this post, with movies having the same score in the order I liked them most.
Tumblr media
Vanilla Sky (2001) – David Aames (Starring)
One sentence summary: A man’s reality begins to warp and he is forced to question what is real, and what isn’t.
Technical: -
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: 💥💥
Review: This is a bad movie. Weird acting throughout. Nonsensical plot. Terrible treatment of the women. Definitely the worst movie Tom Cruise has starred in!
_
Tumblr media
Tropic Thunder (2008) – Les Grossman (Supporting)
One sentence summary: Five actors who are filming a war movie are dropped into a real war zone completely unaware, and must use their wits to escape back to their movie set.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: 💥
Review: LOTS of choices made in this movie! Very few of them good! Why was RDJ in blackface? Was I supposed to find this entertaining? Was any of this necessary? Doubtful. Jack Black and Jay Baruchel had great comedic presences, and honestly the acting and casting was spot on for what the movie wanted, which is why I gave it one technical star.
_
Tumblr media
Endless Love (1981) – Billy (Cameo)
One sentence summary: A teenage romance goes wrong when a boyfriend burns down his girlfriend’s house in an attempt to win the approval of her parents.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: 💥
Review: They made movies differently in the 80s, I think. The plot is insane, the main characters unrelatable – or maybe I’m just too long out of high school. In any case, this was Tom Cruise’s debut film, and he did it in booty shorts while advising his friend to pretend to set his girlfriend’s house on fire, leading to him actually setting his girlfriend’s house on fire, and it was the best part of this movie. What a way to start a career.
_
Tumblr media
The Mummy (2017) – Sgt. Nick Morton (Starring)
One sentence summary: After disrupting a tomb, Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) must defeat The Mummy.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: 💥
Review: Yeah… there’s a reason this movie is a meme. Cruise’s acting feels weak, the plot is verging on nonsensical, and the special effects made me laugh. A rare miss in Cruise’s later years of acting!
_
Tumblr media
Mission: Impossible 2 (2002) – Ethan Hunt (Starring)
One sentence summary: Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) must stop a plague by teaming up with a thief who knows the man who intends to kick off the disaster.
Technical: -
Enjoyment: -
Movie: ⭐
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: 💥
Review: One star is discretionarily awarded because it’s set in Sydney and I recognise a lot of the locations they filmed in. Though I have no clue how Luther was getting internet connection on a sheep farm out somewhere in western NSW. Did they have satellite internet in 2002?
_
Tumblr media
Eyes Wide Shut (1999) – Dr. William Harford (Starring)
One sentence summary: After his wife confesses to fantasising about cheating on him, Dr William Harford (Tom Cruise) toys with the idea of actually cheating on her, and has an insane night out in the process.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: 💥
Review: Well SOMETHING happened in this movie. Hot tip, do not go into this one blind on Saturday movie night with your family in attendance. I think, personally, that Dr Hartford could have just sat down with his wife and asked her if she wanted to get into roleplay instead of doing all that. Also, did we really need to see Nicole Kidman pissing? I just really think that wasn’t necessary.
_
Tumblr media
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) – Himself as Austin Powers (Cameo)
One sentence summary: Austin Powers must stop Dr. Evil from world domination by travelling back in time to 1975.
Technical: -
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥
Overall: 💥
Review: This is some blend of satire and crack, and I’m not really enjoying the flavour. Tom Cruise’s cameo is pretty funny, though.
_
Tumblr media
War of the Worlds (2005) – Ray Ferrier (Starring)
One sentence summary: When aliens land and start destroying Earth, Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) must do all he can to keep his family alive.
Technical: -
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥
Overall: 💥
Review: Well… this exists, I guess. Some of these old sci fi novels should not be made into movies. They were not meant for the big screen. Not even Tom Cruise can save this one.
_
Tumblr media
All the Right Moves (1983) – Stefen Djordjevic (Starring)
One sentence summary: After a disagreement with a teacher, Stefen (Tom Cruise) thinks that he might never get to college and never leave his hometown.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥
Overall: 💥
Review: This sure exists. Very unmemorable, even while I was watching it. Generic in music, plot, character, and romance. Anticlimactic ending too!
_
Tumblr media
The Color of Money (1986) – Vincent Lauria (Starring)
One sentence summary: Vincent Lauria (Tom Cruise) tries to make money by playing pool, but is too good at it for the betting scheme his mentor attempts to set up in order to get rich.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥
Overall: 💥
Review: I will admit I found this movie fairly uninteresting, though I enjoyed Tom Cruise’s wild haircut. Nothing but respect for Vincent’s “Vince” shirt, however.
_
Tumblr media
Days of Thunder (1990) – Cole Trickle (Starring)
One sentence summary: A street racer is pulled onto the Nascar track, where his attitude gets him into trouble with his team, other drivers, and the woman he’s interested in.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: ⭐
Review: Two sexism bangs for Nicole Kidman’s ‘romance’ scenes (girl why did you come back to do more movies with this man). The car racing is pretty cool though. I am partial to a good car race, I must admit.
_
Tumblr media
Interview with the Vampire (1994) – Lestat de Lioncourt (Supporting)
One sentence summary: A vampire sits down with a reporter to tell the story of his life: one that starts with how he was turned into the vampire, and continues to the present day.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐
Review: Lots of stuff going on in this movie. However, mostly I agree with the well known review that spawned a thousand memes: “Not gay enough.”
_
Tumblr media
The Outsiders (1983) – Steve Randle  (Supporting)
One sentence summary: Two friends are caught up in the complicated politics between the “Socs” and “greasers” gangs; when one friend accidentally kills a rival, they go on the run from the police before returning home to face court, their family, and the opposing gang.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐
Review: Patrick Swayze is kinda carrying this movie honestly. Though Tom Cruise’s denim on denim, wild accent, cake-stuffed-in-face beat ‘em up sure is a performance too. You can tell this is an old movie by how affectionate the boys were allowed to be with each other. Absolutely none of that around nowadays.
_
Tumblr media
Mission: Impossible (1996) – Ethan Hunt (Starring)
One sentence summary: When his team of Impossible Mission Force agents are killed, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) must track down the person responsible.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: ⭐
Review: While there are many (many, many, many) liberties taken with reality in order for this movie to be made, it is iconic for a reason. That being said, the wild subplot of Ethan’s tutor trying to set Ethan up with his wife sure was something! Bonus points for starting such an iconic franchise and, of course, the spy movie scene of dropping from the ceiling and barely not hitting the floor.
_
Tumblr media
Magnolia (1999) – Frank T.J. Mackey (Supporting)
One sentence summary: I don’t know how to summarise this movie. Taking suggestions from the audience.
Technical: ⭐⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: -
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: ⭐
Review: I don’t know how to review this movie. Was NOT expecting the frogs, that came out of left field to be sure. I think Kubrick’s vision passed me over. Anyway, two sexism bangs for having Tom Cruise invent the incel motivational speaker 😭
_
Tumblr media
Born on the Fourth of July (1989) – Ron Kovic (Starring)
One sentence summary: Ron Kovic (Tom Cruise) signs up to the Army, fights in the war, and deals with the repercussions when he comes home.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: This movie suffers from the same problem that all movies which are ‘true stories’ have, which is that life rarely neatly fits into a narrative structure, but it manages fairly well anyway. Bonus points given for the BTS trivia that apparently Cruise asked to be injected with some drug that would temporarily paralyse him so he could experience what it was like to improve his acting??? Cruise’s insurance company wisely refused to let him do this.
_
Tumblr media
Minority Report (2002) – John Anderton (Starring)
One sentence summary: In a future where murderers are arrested before they commit their crime, Chief John Anderton (Tom Cruise) is predicted to kill a man he’s never met – and must escape his own police force in order to prove his innocence.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: I had to watch this about 10 times in high school so I was hesitant to come back to it now, but it’s an okay watch when I’m not discussing its contribution to dystopian literature.
_
Tumblr media
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) – Ethan Hunt (Starring)
One sentence summary: On the hunt for the two parts of a key which will allow him to control a new AI threat, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) must sacrifice in order to save the world.
Technical: -
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: -
Sexism: ⭐
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: Media very rarely gets plots around AI right, and this one unfortunately misses the mark. It asks no new or interesting questions about how AI is being used or will be used in our modern world, and seems to take a detour from previous Mission Impossible films in terms of tone and consistency of plot. However, Haley Atwell slaps absolute ass, and there are genuinely funny and enjoyable scenes scattered at random throughout the movie, so it definitely could be worse.
_
Tumblr media
Legend (1985) – Jack (Starring)
One sentence summary: After a princess plunges her kingdom into endless winter, she must reverse the curse to save the land.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: -
Bonus: -
Sexism: ⭐
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: A win for diversity! The princess almost ends the world, and also is allowed to save it! Special effects were pretty decent for the mid-80s, even if the plot was a bit basic. Seeing Tom Cruise go all Tarzan and also have a sword was very good, however.
_
Tumblr media
Oblivion (2013) – Jack Harper (Starring)
One sentence summary: Jack Harper’s (Tom Cruise) mission in life is to protect the last of humanity – or so he thinks.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: -
Sexism: -
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: Morgan Freeman steals the show here. I enjoyed the plot twist both at the middle and the end of the movie, and the ending scene wrapped everything up emotionally.
_
Tumblr media
American Made (2017) – Barry Seal (Starring)
One sentence summary: Barry Seal (Tom Cruise) works triple time for big money while dodging the law, taking aerial photos for the CIA, smuggling cocaine into the USA for the Medellín Cartel, and delivering guns to the Nicaraguan Contras based in Honduras.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: A movie that’s “based on a true story” and which does it right. The informational sections were balanced neatly with the character development and exploration of what this amount of money might do to a family.
_
Tumblr media
Rock of Ages (2012) – Stacee Jaxx (Supporting)
One sentence summary: Two burgeoning singers meet at a rock bar, which needs to put on a hell of a show in order to avoid closing down.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall:  ⭐⭐
Review: Extra points for the killer soundtrack. Otherwise, this movie is fairly unmemorable. Tom Cruise’s hairstyle sure was a choice though!
_
Tumblr media
Taps (1983) – Capt. David Shawn (Supporting)
One sentence summary: When the students of a military boarding school hear that their school is to be shut down, they stage a protest that rapidly spirals out of hand.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: It’s hard to have sexism in a movie where there are literally no women, so this one is getting a default 💥. Other than the fact that women don’t exist, this was a pretty good movie, with the extra star granted for the depth of character portrayed, Tom Cruise’s buzzcut, and the acting of all the younger kids on set.
_
Tumblr media
Rain Man (1988) – Charlie Babbitt (Starring)
One sentence summary: After his father dies, Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise) discovers he has a brother after he inherits everything in his father’s will.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: I really liked how this movie showed that despite how money-hungry Charlie Babbitt originally appears, he goes through an entire journey where he realises how important family is – no matter what form that takes. To see a main male character reflect and regret on his poor relationship with his father and also express the ups and downs of other emotions throughout this movie is refreshing, and Tom Cruise does an excellent job at portraying the journey taken. While it’s obvious he prefers action movies, I actually think Cruise’s true strength is in the dramas he does.
_
Tumblr media
Top Gun (1986) – Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Starring)
One sentence summary: Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) attempts to prove that he’s the best Naval Aviator by winning the Top Gun trophy, and also by winning the heart of his teacher too.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥💥
Overall: ⭐⭐
Review: Wow. There’s a LOT going on here. It’s impossible to discuss Top Gun without mentioning the blistering sexism that pervades this movie, but since it’s about the Navy in the 80s, no one should be surprised it’s there. However, it also manages to be one of the gayest movies of the decade. Contains multitudes! Bonus points for Val Kilmer’s amazing performance and the insane homoerotic tension that is as inextricable from this movie as the sexism is.
_
Tumblr media
Valkyrie (2008) – Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Starring)
One sentence summary: Before D-Day, a plot to kill Hilter from within the German government unfolds.
Technical: ⭐⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: 💥
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Review: Full of tension and drama, this is a ‘based on a true story’ movie that’s done right (probably because liberties were no doubt taken). A different type of WWII movie, I definitely liked this one. Bonus star for the set and costuming, which were truly excellent.
_
Tumblr media
Lions for Lambs (2007) – Senator Jasper Irving (Supporting)
One sentence summary: Over 90 minutes in real time, 2 marines defend a position in Afghanistan, a Senator is interviewed on a new military strategy, and a college student decides if he’s going to commit to his classes or not.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: -
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Review: I’m not American, and it’s not 2007 anymore, but this still hit really hard. Excellent use of the real time narrative to drive the story home deliver the message to the audience.
_
Tumblr media
Cocktail (1988) – Brian Flanagan (Starring)
One sentence summary: While attending university, Brian Flanagan finds work as a bartender to pay the bills before he finds the way he’s going to get rich – and finds friendship and love along the way.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: -
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Review: This soundtrack slaps, it’s a cute romcom, and there are cool bartending tricks scattered throughout. It also deals with some more serious topics, but these add to the depth of character and the main relationship to bring extra flavour to the movie.
_
Tumblr media
Losin' It (1983) – Woody (Starring)
One sentence summary: Four friends travel to Mexico in order to party hard and lose their virginity.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐⭐
Bonus: -
Sexism: -
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Review: The second half of the movie is far better than the first, with a spiralling series of events that had me laughing at every new development. Tom Cruise playing the straight laced kid was a genius decision, and I can see why he repeated this type of role a few times in future movies.
_
Tumblr media
Far and Away (1992) – Joseph Donelly (Starring)
One sentence summary: Irishman Joseph Donelly (Tom Cruise) joins forces with Shannon Christie (Nicole Kidman) to cross the sea to America, where they aspire to travel to Oklahoma in order to start a new life, where land is being given away for free.
Technical: ⭐
Enjoyment: ⭐
Bonus: ⭐
Sexism: ⭐
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: Very much the best of the movies that Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise collaborated on, I did enjoy this one from start to finish. The costumes are great, but the bonus points go to how bloody and beat up Tom Cruise consistently is in this movie. Yes, go and get back into that fighting ring again. It’s good for my health.
(continued in the next reblog because tumblr will only let me add 30 images per post)

The skyline view from the floor to ceiling windows had been the real selling point to Steve taking the penthouse apartment at his latest investment property. Truthfully, he had been growing tired of the brick walls of his old place, despite their aesthetic charm. The new renters could live with that red dust now.
But the view into both Brooklyn and downtown towards Manhattan made him feel like he was exactly where he needed to be. Like he was on top of the world, his own little empire carved out in the heart of the borough. Most importantly, his apartment was his home. And that meant work didn’t come home with him, ever.
He drew that line very cleanly, even leaving the second bedroom fully intact as a guest room instead of converting to an office. Because this is where he needed to clear his head, to be Steve Rogers, the plain and simple Brooklyn born boy who loved his city.
Steve Rogers, the war veteran turned real estate mogul and art dealer, who sat at the top of what remained of an old Irish crime syndicate - that man worked on the streets, in the office, in his clubs and galleries and restaurants. That shit was not supposed to come home with him.
Though recently, it seemed to have started to bleed into what little time he spent at home. Mainly because of you and the whole incident outside the restaurant.
“Well, what’s the plan?”
“I already told you, Buck. I’m not retaliating.”
Bucky Barnes, Steve’s right hand man, his oldest friend and main confidant, the literal fist and brawn behind their organization, scoffed. “Someone sent an amateur barrelling into our territory to try and pin you between the hood of a car and your new restaurant - and you don’t want to retaliate? We coulda been weeping over your body right now, Steve.”
“I can recognize an act of aggression when I see it, I’m not an idiot.” Steve tipped his rocks glass against his lips once more, the scent of scotch lingering as he stood from the couch. “We don’t know if it was Rumlow or that new idiot creeping in from Staten Island.”
Steve rolled his eyes and cut off Bucky before he tried to add in his two cents again. “And if someone wanted to kill me, they wouldn’t hit me with a car. You know what. This was some stupid message that was poorly planned and equally poorly executed.”
Sam Wilson, who had been sipping his own concoction from the kitchen table, finally looked up from his phone and piped in. “I mean, I hate to admit it but Bucky is right. You would have been dead if it wasn’t for that beautiful woman saving your ass.”
“Sam.” Steve turned his head, eyes narrowed in a pointed glare.
“What? I’m not blind. The hips on her were-”
Steve took another step towards his friend and trusted colleague, who had a particularly loud mouth and a flair for getting on Steve’s nerves, and held up a steady hand. “Stop.”
He wasn’t inclined to admit it, but the entire thing had been replaying in Steve’s minds for days now. Ever since you had saved him on that sidewalk, throwing yourself into a dangerous situation for him, a total stranger, something had changed. He was still living, breathing, surviving. And although he was dead set on figuring out just who was driving that vehicle and ensuring they paid for their actions, it was you he couldn’t stop thinking about.
You. Who had been in the right place at the right time, who had risked your own personal safety to make sure he didn’t get hit, who was insistent that it had been an act of good faith, a simple act of kindness.
You, with the kind smile and generous curves. You, who swept off your actions as innocent and selfless, concerned more about the happiness of your dog than your own well being. You, who left Steve feeling curious and longing to get to know you, to make you smile, to hear you laugh.
God, what he wouldn’t give to have someone like you in his life. While he couldn’t stop thinking about the kind of person you were, he also had your face playing over and over again in his mind too. It didn’t help that his mom called him a few days ago, asking how you were doing and reiterating how much she enjoyed talking to you and…
“Still no news from Hammond?”
Steve knew Bucky couldn’t help but prodding, as if his fingers were itching to find a quick, efficient solution.
“He said their tech department is behind. I’m inclined to believe him but my insisting this is a priority hasn’t been successful this time. I’m trying to play nice.” Steve gritted his teeth, finishing the last sip of his drink as he stood, tugging on the lapel of his suit. “So I asked Stark to help instead. We’re meeting him at the club.”
 ---
The only good thing about your dreadful basement apartment was the private patio space in the backyard. You had high hopes for it when you rented the garden level unit but once your lease had been signed, everything about the place seemed a lot less shiny. From the shared laundry with the loud, obnoxious upstairs apartment to the inconsistent water pressure and flickering lights, you were counting down the days until your lease was over.
But the backyard - you had done what you could to make it a safe oasis for you and Hercules, with a few pieces of thrifted outdoor furniture and string lights making it a bit more magical. It was a nice location when hosting your girlfriends, especially when such a thing happened so rarely now that your schedules seemed to conflict all the time.
You were so grateful to have your girls. Because at any moment, they all loved to share their opinions on the weird chaos that seemed to stir up in your life. While you had known Maria since college, you had collected Wanda and Claire into your life since starting your new job in the city. You had worked as a server at the same restaurant as Wanda a few summers ago and Claire, an ER nurse, had dropped into your life by chance one night when you were stood up on a date at a bar in Hell’s Kitchen. Your group had been solid since then - although girls nights were few and far between now, with jobs and the general grind of life making it hard to get together often.
“I’m not saying the man isn’t attractive. Because I have eyes,” Maria was on her third glass of sangria, legs extended out on the brick patio outside. “I just have no reason to trust him.” She squinted down at her phone screen. “What did he say he did for work again?”
You sighed. Perhaps it was a mistake to share Steve’s name and photo - that you found after an extensive internet search - with your friends, but you valued their perspectives. It’s not like anything had happened with the guy. You hadn’t seen him since that day you saved his life and hadn’t communicated either, outside of you emailing him the stupid photo you took.
You had added his number to your phone, though. Just in case. Just in case what? You had no clue. But he had written it down for you and all.
And he said he owed you a thousand favours…
Officer Hammond, though, had reached out to you a few days after the event - asking you to come in and try and ID the driver in a police lineup. It made you feel a bit uncomfortable but you supposed it was your civic duty to do it, if it could help stop this from happening again or to help in delivering justice for wrongdoing. You pointed out the person you best recognized from your blurry memory and moved on, trying not to think any further about the situation.
Although a few strange things seemed to happen since then, if you just used your head it could all be justified. Like seeing the same black, unfamiliar SUV on your street multiple times this week. That was probably just a new vehicle belonging to one of your neighbours.
And that one time you were walking Hercules and a stranger who seemed to be lingering outside your apartment asked to borrow your phone.
Which you promptly said no to, because you aren’t dumb enough to let someone run off with your phone. But instead of going inside with Herc, you continued to circle the block until the blond stranger disappeared. You wouldn’t consider your neighbourhood the safest place after dark, but in the daytime you never felt concerned.
It was all just sort of weird.
But completely unrelated to anything else, you were sure.
That was all behind you now anyway, a strange footnote in the chapter of your life that was playing out. You’d probably never have to see Steve again, though he had crossed your mind a few times…
Okay, you had been thinking about him a lot. Which is why you had told your three closest friends about everything that had occurred.
You replied to Maria, who was nudging you with her elbow. “Oh. Uhm, he works in real estate, I think. He owns an art gallery and some apartments. Oh, and that club on Morgan Ave - Shield .”
“Sounds like a professional landlord. Thumbs down.” Claire chimed in from her chair too, shaking her head and dismissing the entire concept of Steve with a wave of her hand. “Rich at best, financially questionable at worst.”
“And he owns that restaurant the car smashed into?” Maria reached for her own phone. “The one owned by the mob. Okay, that settles it - he’s in the mob then.”
You laughed and shook your head. “The mob isn’t a thing, Hill. What’s your source on that again?”
Wanda shrugged and finally chimed in, fingers tapping idly against her wine glass as she turned towards you. “Describe his aura to me.”
You groaned, smirking as Claire rolled her eyes with a heavy sigh. “His aura?”
“You know, what kind of energy did he have?”
“Is that your way of determining the kind of person he is?” Maria got up from her chair to toss a small toy for Hercules to chase after. “I’d love to know the science between your aura theories, Wan.”
You delayed answering by grabbing the nearby bowl of popcorn and cradling it in your lap, leaving your phone and the thought of Steve on the small crate that sat between you and your friends. “He was very confident.” How could you do any justice to Steve’s intimidating Big Dick Energy without admitting your attraction to him? That last thing you wanted to do was bait your friends with any material to tease you with. Plus, really, it didn’t matter. You had no plans to ever see Steve again. And AND and, even if you did, what made you think it would be romantic in any way?
Steve was beyond hot - from the trimmed beard and deep blue eyes, to his easy charm and well dressed body. You had no doubt in your mind that the man probably had some equally hot partner. If not, he could have his pick of the entire city. There was no way you would be on his radar.
“I don’t know,” Maria chimed in once more, clapping her hands quickly. “This is the wildest meet cute story I’ve ever heard. If the man is so willing to do you some favours, maybe you should cash in on it, mob be damned. You know what they say about tall guys..”
“You just said you don’t trust him!” You laughed, tossing a piece of popcorn at her.
Maria just scooped it up and popped it into her mouth with a shrug. “I don’t trust any man. I trust you and your judge of character, though. Plus, you haven’t been on a date in forever so maybe this was some sort of fate driven happenstance.”
“The universe does work in weird ways,” Wanda agreed. “And you said he really filled out that suit so…”
“You should text him!” Claire sat up tall and straight, pushing her hair over one shoulder as an idea formulated in her brain. You were nervous. “I think how he reacts to a sudden text will be a perfect test.”
“It’s a Saturday night, I can’t text him! And a test of what? All I did was save the man’s life, there is nothing else to..” This was not how you wanted this to go. The last logical thing you could think of doing right now was messaging Steve Rogers anything. What would he think if you texted him out of nowhere on a Saturday night? “What would I even say?”
“Here, allow me.” Maria plucked your phone off the table and damnit, why did you ever tell her your passcode?
“Maria-”
“It’ll be harmless, I promise!” She glanced up from your phone and opened her eyes wide. “You need to stop playing safe. What’s the worst that could happen? He doesn’t reply?”
You sighed. YES. The fear of rejection crept up like a weird pain in your chest. “Yeah, I guess. He might think it’s a wrong number or some sort of spam message...”
“Then no harm, no foul.” Her grin grew even wider as she typed something out on the screen. She took a deep breath. You leaned over to see what she had crafted together and sighed. “It’s just a simple little push..”
 ---
Normally Steve would ignore then block an unfamiliar phone number, but this had been intriguing. Given that you hadn’t reached out to him at all, he had tried not to give much of his time to thinking about you. But when the text came in, without a lot of context or forewarning, he figured it was a small gamble to see how it could play out.
Unknown number [10:47PM]: hey, I need to cash in a favour S Rogers [10:49PM]: who is this? Unknown number [10:51PM]: 👀 🍑 🎁 🔄 🥞 S Rogers [10:55PM]: am I supposed to just guess what this means? Unknown number [10:59PM]: yes ;) S Rogers [11:02P:M]: it’ll be easier if you just tell me what you want, angel ;)
You hadn’t struck Steve as the type to flirt like this. If it was you, of course. He could really only safely assume, considering only a certain number of people had his phone number. And now, he finally had yours.
Tony had consolidated all the info he could find about you earlier that week. Steve didn’t feel great about asking Tony to dig into you, but since he had sent your picture for analysis after the delay at the police station, it sort of just happened. Frankly, Tony said your online presence was minimal. You were smart about keeping your social media secure and had a very thorough CV on LinkedIn. Otherwise, he didn’t have much information that you hadn’t already shared. And Steve had no intentions of doing anything suspicious with any of it, it just helped him understand who he had invited into a small corner of his life.
If that’s what he could call it. But you had crossed his mind over and over, and it didn’t help that Bucky kept bringing you up. Especially the part about Steve taking you to the clinic for help from Sarah. That resource was a well kept secret in their family and the fact that Steve took you there had been a big risk.
Beyond Steve’s unavoidable racing thoughts about you, he had been deep into a plan to deal with the actual problem - the group of idiots spilling into his Brooklyn territory. Tony had helped him with that too, finding names and dossiers on everyone who belonged to Rumlow’s extended Stryke gang causing a mess in the boroughs between Queens and Brooklyn.
For years, Steve had worked hard to make a respectable reputation for himself and now things were getting shaky. And it annoyed the shit out of him, especially when a few of the names Tony pulled were on the NYPD payroll.
“It’s messy,” Tony had said with a shrug, leaning back into the leather seat from their place at the top of the club.
Another property on Steve’s growing list - Shield was a popular nightclub in Brooklyn, which served as a perfect location for arms deals and financial transactions to float. For Steve and his old friend, tech mogul Tony Stark, it was a safe place to share theories and secrets. The upper level served as a secure hideout from the general population while the downstairs dance floor catered to obnoxious crowds looking for a drink or something else to roll on.
It was lucrative for Steve, to say the least.
“Let me know if you want me to get Rhodes involved.”
Steve shook his head. “He’s got enough on his plate. Is he ready for the campaign announcement?” Steve had a serious interest in the upcoming Mayoral election, especially if James Rhodes, former DA, planned on running. And with Tony bankrolling the campaign and some additional under the table support from Steve, it was going to be a shoe in.
“Oh, we’re just getting started, big guy,” Tony stood up and patted Steve on the shoulder as he left the corner area, flitting off in search of whoever might be going home with him soon enough.
Usually that would be Steve’s next step too, but damnit, if he couldn’t stop glancing at his phone for a response from you. Maybe calling you ‘angel’ again had been out of line. He contemplated sending another message, but no, he had to wait. He knew how to play this game.
The rest of the night carried on, with certain reports popping in with updates for Steve on what was happening out on the streets. Things like confirmed shipments at the dock and successful cash pickups. He had eyes across the whole of Brooklyn, with his growing syndicate working beneath him. Things mostly operated smoothly and this night was carrying on as normal.
Bucky showed up eventually, grumbling about getting turned down by some smart mouthed girl outside the club. Sam corroborated the story, lauding the woman and her tone.
Steve checked his phone, again.
“I saw Sharon downstairs,” Sam nudged Steve, eyebrows raised curiously. “Unless you’re off again-”
“We’re permanently off-again,” Steve rolled his eyes. “You have my blessing if you want to pursue, Sam. But good luck, don’t say I didn’t warn you..” That was all Sam needed apparently, finishing off his glass and heading back down to the dance floor below. Steve didn’t miss his cheeky grin.
“You’re thinking about that girl again, huh?” Bucky nodded and tried to hide his mischievous smirk as he scanned Steve’s face.
Steve scoffed. “No, no. I’m not..”
Bucky laughed, hard and incredulous. “I haven’t seen your head in the clouds like this in ages. Since whatsername in high school, maybe. What was her name?”
Then as if by some weird shift in the universe, Steve’s phone started to buzz. He left Bucky’s commentary lingering as he looked at the screen. You.
Ah, no text reply but a phone call? Okay, he could get on board. Standing, he headed a few steps from the lounge and brought his phone up to his ear, with a small smile. “Rogers.”
The first thing he heard was your frightened yelling. “Leave me alone! Jesus - oh my god, Steve? Is this Steve?”
He said your name quickly to confirm who he was speaking too but raised his eyebrows in concern. “What’s going on?”
“Someone is trying to - HEY! Stop -” Steve could hear banging in the background. “--trying to break into my fuckin - I’m going to CALL THE COPS! Leave me alone! Please, just..”
Steve closed his eyes, doing his best to focus on the background noise. Behind your defensive yelling and the attentive reactions of your dog, there was a mixture of other voices. Something about the voices felt familiar.
“We just want to talk.. Did someone offer you something for that statement? Was it Rogers?”
“If you tell Hammond you got the wrong guy, this will all be over very quickly, honey.”
“Walker, move, let me – Open the door, or we’ll open it for you. Let’s talk..”
“He didn’t offer me - Stop, please! I swear I -”
Steve nearly crushed his phone when the call dropped. He was off like a bullet train, shouting for Bucky to follow him as he pushed past his security guards on the stairs and rushed down towards the back exit of the club. He tried to call you back as he sped through traffic, blatantly bypassing stop signs and treating red lights like suggestions.
A heavy twisting feeling in Steve’s gut had told him that the aftermath of this entire situation wasn’t going to go smoothly. Especially with dumbass dirty cops on the inside who could share information to the highest bidder.
Steve felt a new responsibility to keep you safe, until this whole mess had been taken care of. He had plans to deal with it all on his own but now, if he hadn’t acted quickly enough and something had happened to you.. God, he couldn’t live with himself. How could he explain that to his mother?
He got to your apartment first, hoping Bucky was close behind. Steve didn’t know what he might be walking into but having backup was never a bad idea.
Steve had not only visited but had also lived in a lot of seedy neighbourhoods over the years. The street you lived on didn’t strike him as anything especially dangerous, but that thought enough couldn’t squash the unsettled feeling in his stomach as he approached. He pushed his way through the small metal gate beside the front stairs, towards the door to your garden level apartment.
His jaw clenched when he saw the damage to your door, clearly kicked in with plenty of force before being shoved closed. He glanced to the front window, nearby - that had been smashed, too. He tried to contain the growing fury and pressed on the door, calling out your name as he made his way inside.
As someone more than familiar with the real estate market, Steve could tell the bones of your apartment weren’t in the best shape. The entire townhouse was in desperate need of updating. But what concerned him more, outside of the low ceiling and old light fixtures, was what he could only assume was a new mess. Your coffee table had been smashed, creating a pile of kindling in your tiny living room. Papers were thrown about, a coffee cup sat shattered on the floor.
He called your name again as he went in, reaching inside his jacket to pull out his concealed handgun as he listened carefully. Once he stepped into the hallway leading to your tiny kitchen, he took a step back at the sudden lurch of your dog heading in his direction.
Then Steve heard your quiet voice. The dog retreated into the kitchen, planting himself in front of you as Steve turned to look in. His heart sank.
You were seated on the floor, back pressed against the wall. It was clear you were trying to hide, make yourself small. And was that… some sort of steak knife in your hand? When you finally looked up at him, your eyes were wide.
When you tried to press yourself even further back, eyeing down the gun in Steve’s hand, he slowly put it down on the counter and said your name. “Hey, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. That was just a precaution.” Shit. The way you reacted to the gun wasn’t a surprise but it made Steve even angrier. Whoever had been here, whoever had done this, well, they probably had guns too.
“Can you tell me what happened?” Steve crouched down, keeping his distance while Hercules acted as your bodyguard. He was trying everything in his power to maintain his composure but god fucking damnit, Steve needed to know who did this and he needed to deal with it. “Are you hurt?”
You took in a deep breath then just shrugged, relaxing just a fraction when Hercules circled around and flopped down to rest his head on your knee. “There were two guys, they had.. They had guns with them. They said they just wanted to talk to me, to … they kept talking about whoever the guy was who drove that SUV.” Your breath picked up as you recounted what had happened. “They..they smashed my phone and..” Slowly, you moved your hand up towards your neck, gently dragging your fingers against the tender skin on your collarbone. “..One guy he..” You winced at the memory.
The heat grew more and more in his stomach as he saw you shaking with fear, recounting whatever the fuck had just happened. How dare any of those fucking imbeciles lay their hand on you? And because of him? If he wasn’t sure of his next steps before, he was going to figure them out now. Because someone needed to pay for this.
His phone buzzed. He stood up and saw a message from Bucky, wondering if Steve needed his help inside. Steve took a step back, turning towards the front door.
“Don’t go,” you pleaded quietly, letting your hand linger in the air as you reached for him. “Steve, please..”
Steve stopped and turned back to you, giving his head a firm shake. “Sweetheart, I’m not going anywhere.”
---
A few hours ago you were saying goodbye to your friends as your sangria pitcher finally ran dry. And now? You and Hercules were in an elevator with Steve and his friend Bucky, heading to Steve’s apartment.
Everything that had just happened felt like a bit of a dream - a bad dream. A break in at your own apartment, being intimidated, harassed and assaulted by men with guns, zipping through Brooklyn with Steve as he promised you a safe space to stay for the night.
You didn’t say much to each other once you had left, but you could see the twist of concern and small decisions Steve started to make to ensure you felt secure. A hand at your back, a soft smile, extra attention being given to Hercules to make sure he was okay, too.
You hadn’t gotten into much detail yet but you knew Steve wanted to figure out who the men were who had done this. You were already dreading talking about it again. And god, you likely had another police experience coming your way. What was happening in your life and how could it go back to normal again?
“Hey,” Steve tipped his head towards the door as the elevator opened. You took the lead as you stepped out into the hallway, where just a small handful of apartment doors were spread out.
Steve’s building was a place you could only daydream about living in. You followed him through the door to his apartment, checking over your shoulder to see Bucky guiding Hercules behind you.
Bucky was incredibly kind to you throughout this whole thing, especially back at your apartment. He had patiently directed you as Steve made some phone calls, carefully standing outside your room as you packed a quick overnight bag. And he was very taken to Hercules, which you really appreciated.
Once inside Steve’s place, you made your way into the living room just past the foyer. Steve and Bucky moved into the kitchen briefly, exchanging a few hushed sentences out of your earshot.
When they joined you in the living room, they found you crouched down on the floor with Hercules. You tipped your head up to look at them. Bucky’s gaze was on his phone but Steve was watching you with a soft smile.
“Do you think he’ll be okay here tonight?” Steve took a knee on the other side of Hercules, slowly reaching his hand out to scratch behind his ear.
You couldn’t stop yourself from smiling, just a bit, as you nodded. “Yeah, he’s pretty easy going usually.” As if on cue, your dog nudged his head against Steve’s hand for one more quick pet then trotted further into the living room, flopping down on the rug between the couch and windows. “All his adrenaline seems to have worn off.”
And so it seemed had yours.
A few minutes later you were sitting on the couch, with Steve planted in the chair across from you and Bucky standing over his shoulder, arms crossed. Steve leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he took you in.
God, even in the low light of his living room, the man was handsome. Wearing just a navy blazer and matching dress pants, over a black button up with no tie, he managed to look effortlessly intimidating and strangely welcoming. Like you had no reason not to trust him, as if the dark shadows behind his eyes were a sign of protection instead of a signal of something to be feared.
You took in a long breath and leaned back into the couch.
Steve dragged his tongue over his lips then let out a sharp breath. “Okay, so I need you to walk me through exactly what happened.”
You knew this was coming. The moment Steve insisted on not calling the cops, something shifted for you. This whole situation had escalated beyond what you were used to, that whomever these men were to Steve - it probably wasn’t good.
But when you looked over at Steve, as much as you wanted to shake with worry about what might happen next, you couldn’t. Despite being way out of your comfort zone, scared out of your mind, coming down from your own rush of adrenaline, you weren’t scared. Not anymore, not in his presence and under the additional watchful eye of his right hand man.
And so you told him and Bucky exactly what had happened. How your girlfriends had left, how you were finding the next episode of your favourite show to watch, how you had some writing to catch up on and planned on staying up late. Then you heard a noise outside, then a knock at your door.
Then… well, then you had called Steve when everything started unfolding.
And after the men managed to get beyond the door and push their way through to you, you had nowhere to hide. Once they smashed your phone, you were going to comply and do whatever they needed to, to get them out of your home but then one of them threatened Hercules, and even kicked him-
“Jesus,” Bucky muttered, teeth clenched. Before he could get his true feelings out, Steve held up his hand and had you continue.
“I shoved the guy who was closest to me, trying to go for the other idiot before he hurt Herc and then..” You closed your eyes, going into vague details about how the man pushed you back, how he shoved you into the wall, the kitchen counter. How he pulled out his gun and put his hand around your throat and..
When you opened your eyes again, taking in the silence of the room as you trailed off, Steve was watching you carefully. Though you safely assumed he was an expert at hiding his emotions, you could see a twitch in his jaw. His fists rested on his knees, clenched and turning white with tension.
“One of them got a phone call and I guess they were beckoned to leave. They had enough time to make more of a mess while I cowered away but..” You gulped, shaking your head. “What if they come back? I think I should just call Officer Hammond and-”
“No.” Steve stood up, taking barely a stride to make his way towards the couch. He took a seat beside you, extending his hand to ever so gently cradle your jaw, turning your head to look at him. He said your name softly, barely.. “I’m going to take care of this.”
Your safe feeling was depleting and as much as you wanted to argue, to put a stop to all of this, to do it the correct way, you couldn’t. Earlier, when the threat was outside your door, you didn’t think of calling the police. It was Steve who had crossed your mind. For some unknown reason, you had a feeling he would help you.
Steve pulled his hand away and stood again, shooting a glance to his friend.
Bucky cleared his throat, taking a step forward. “Doll, can you tell me what the guys looked like? Identifying features?”
You wanted to ask a thousand questions about what happened now, about what Bucky was planning on doing, about his metal arm and lack of hesitation to help Steve. But you just played along, delivering all the details you could. Once you repeated it all and answered a few of his questions, you sat up and leaned forward. “Oh. One of them went by Walker. I’m not sure if that’s a first name or..”
“Last name.” Bucky gave one nod before muttering out a tired laugh. “That fucking moron.” He looked at Steve. “Okay, I know where to go. Nat’s gonna meet me downstairs.”
Steve followed him to the door and you could hear their quiet conversation once more.
Twisting your hands together, you sat on the couch with your thoughts. You couldn’t believe how your night had played out. Really, if you thought about the last week of your life you’d be hard pressed to believe it was real life. How could the simple act of getting a person out of harm’s way lead to this?
When you heard Steve’s footsteps heading back towards you, after the door shut behind Bucky, you stood up and looked at him.
Okay, you had to ask. Because a lot of this felt nonsensical, impossible even.
“You don’t really work in real estate, do you?” With the most courage you could muster you met his gaze, which was stoic as he watched you. “My friend Maria had this crazy theory and.. I don’t know what I’ve gotten myself into here, Steve. But this isn’t… I just did the right thing and saved you from being hit by a car and.. Now what? People with guns are breaking into my home and threatening my dog? And instead of going to the police.. I’m right here in your apartment - with you, a kind, handsome stranger who keeps offering to help and take care of me and I just don’t get it. Is this real?”
He didn’t falter or let his facade break when you spiraled. Instead, he motioned towards his kitchen. “Would you like a cup of tea?”
You sat with a steaming mug of chamomile at Steve’s kitchen island. His kitchen felt impressively Steve somehow too, with dark granite counters and cool grey tones decorating the tall cabinets. The light blue kettle that sat on his stove somehow humanized him even more though.
Steve opted to lean against the counter, shrugging off his suit jacket as he met your eyes. “So. First, let me just say - I don’t want you to feel like I brought you here for any other reason than keeping you safe tonight. I want you to feel safe here, with me. But if you don’t feel comfortable, you can leave. I will put you up in a hotel somewhere or if you have a friend you can stay with-”
You swallowed hard and brought your hand up. “No, that’s not.. I’m sorry for, uhm, going off a bit there. I just..” You left your mug on the island and leaned forward, balancing your chin on your hand while your elbow propped you up. You matched his gaze, somehow both honest and shy. “In college, my friends and I did this thing called honesty hour. Usually after a really late night or when we were a bit drunk. But the point is to be as honest as possible, but gentle, I guess. Feelings were always at risk but if it was after 2am, it was honesty only.”
A small smirk tugged at Steve’s lips as he rolled up the sleeves of his shirt. “Okay.”
“So. Honesty hour.” You nodded.
“What do you want to know?”
“Do you always carry a gun?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“There are often dangerous, poorly- intentioned people in my line of work.”
You narrowed your eyes, pausing to take a small sip from your mug. “Your line of work - in real estate and art gallery ownership?”
Steve let out a quiet laugh. “The scope of my day to day work goes well beyond that.”
God, you had so many other questions but you had a feeling Steve was not going to share any details with you. Maybe it was better that way for both of you. Because answering some of your questions might ruin everything. “Would you rather I not ask about that? Your.. full scope?”
“I don’t think it qualifies for your honesty hour, no.”
You were ready to counter with something but you figured it wasn’t worth pushing his buttons. After another big breath, you closed your eyes. “Do you think those guys are going to show up again? At my apartment?”
The mug that had been resting in Steve’s hand found a careful spot on the counter. He took a big step forward and leaned onto the island opposite you.
Your name left his lips. You opened your eyes.
“I promise they won’t.” It was clear some things were being left unsaid, hidden behind his reassuring smile. His hand landed on yours as it rested on the table. “Trust me when I say I’ll never let that sort of thing happen again.” You looked from him, focusing on the warmth in his eyes and how his palm felt against your skin and…
“My turn.” Steve ran his thumb over the top of your hand, as if searching for the softest spot. “You called me. How come?”
You had never been so grateful to hear someone’s phone ring, because you did not want to answer that question. He tried to ignore it but the buzzing in his pocket filled in the quiet that lingered between you. Just like that, whatever that moment was or could have been - vanished. He gave you an apologetic glance as he stepped away.
You sipped on your tea, feeling more and more run down by this whole situation. You were tired, finally and Steve’s big sweeping statements gave you some peace of mind. You trusted him, that was the only thing you were certain about.
Despite everything, including the silly rumours from Maria and the broken remains of your apartment on the other side of Brooklyn… There was something about Steve that made you feel okay about all of this.
But the thought of talking any more about it now made your thoughts spiral out of control. Truthfully, you needed to sleep. And you really needed to talk all of this through in the group chat with the girls. You desperately wished your phone was still functioning.
Before you could even let your train of thoughts derail, you heard Hercules’ feet tapping against the floors in search of you. You took one final sip of your tea and met him in the living room. Your boy was ready for bed too.
You hesitated though, glancing from him to the door. He looked that way too. Maybe it would be smart to take him out one more time before you headed to bed.
Steve found you near the door and reached his hand out to stop you before you could even grab your coat. “Hey. I can take him out, if you want to get ready for bed.”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“Please, I insist.” He grabbed Hercules’ leash from the small entry table and rested his hand on your shoulder. “I’ve been thinking about adopting a dog for months now so this is a nice reminder about responsibilities.”
Steve’s genuine smile was unmatched and, well, Hercules just looked excited for one last moment of fresh air. “Okay, fine. For your own research purposes. Thanks Steve.”
He waved his hand and pulled on a coat from the hanging rack. “The guest room is just down there.” With his free hand he pointed down the hall behind you. “First door on the right. Bathroom across the hall.”
The minute Steve was outside the door with Hercules, you made your way to the bedroom. You nearly gasped when you opened the door, considering the space was practically the same size as your entire apartment. And god, the view from the windows. A full floor to ceiling piece of glass illuminated Brooklyn below.
The bathroom was just as impressive. After finding a fluffy towel and figuring out how the shower and faucet functioned, you let yourself get consumed by the water. Though you felt far past your breaking point, you held back your tears. Yes, the entire night behind you had been a rollercoaster. And yes, you were nervous about what tomorrow was going to bring.
But you were safe. That’s all that mattered.

A Short Guide To Writing Gay Trans Men
So a few disclaimers before I start:
I'm not going to talk about anything sex-related here because 1) people have made other guides and google is your friend & 2) I'm not very comfortable with it.
I am just one person, and due to the fact that I am white and thin and perisex, I will definitely have blind spots. If you want more information about intersections that don't apply to me, ask someone who it does apply to!
I did get lots of messages from trans guys giving me advice on this, but nonetheless I do not speak for absolutely everyone.
There will be very little info here on how to accurately write medical transitions because that's not something I've experienced. Google is your best friend on this one.
This is not a complete post. I will keep adding to it as time goes on. If you're seeing this post reblogged by someone else, click on the original to see if I've made any additions or corrections before you send me that anon hate and/or comment telling me to kill myself.
What Not To Do
When there is a trans male character written by a cis person, especially a cis man, there's a very solid chance that he is going to check off at least 9 of the following boxes:
Thin
White
Able-bodied
Neurotypical or LSN neurodivergent
Binary
No nuance given to his identity and expression
Sexuality not specified or elaborated on
A cis person's love interest
2 dimensional transmasc stereotype
Usually small and feminine, but not actually femme
Gay transmasc characters written by cis people are very difficult to find because cis authors will often not specify the sexuality of the trans man dating a cis man or elaborate on his connection to the MLM community. This is because many cis authors believe that writing a gay trans man is just writing a woman but switching one of the genders. This is, of course, not true, and there must be more care taken to provide nuance and create a more accurate (and non-dysphoria-inducing) representation.
Moving Past The White Twink Stereotype
This is one of the most basic bars to clear for a cis person writing a gay trans man, and yet so many continue to fail at this very simple task. Ask yourself: is your gay transmasc character a white, hairless, thin person? If the answer is yes, that's not inherently a bad thing, though it may be good to reflect on why you want to create a character like this if this is the only type of transmasc representation you write.
The biggest thing you need to do here is to give him a set of defining traits. Not physical traits, not even gender expression traits. Just personality. What kind of person is he? How does he cope with the transphobia in this world (unless you're writing a fantasy universe without transphobia)? How does he act towards strangers? How does he approach people of different genders? What is his outlook on cis people? Once you have the basics, it's time to think about his physical appearance & expression and how that has impacted his life and his personality.
You also want to avoid the trope where a gay trans man's personality is undeveloped and he is treated as an object for cis men to help them advance their character arcs. It's fine for trans men to serve a purpose like that in the story, but they need to be their own individual humans.
Writing Sexuality
If your trans male characters date men, and I cannot reiterate this enough, make them be open about their homosexuality or bisexuality. Give them a sexual orientation and make them be proud of it. Of course, not every gay trans man is going to identify heavily with a masc/fem role in gay male relationships, but you should seriously consider whether or not your character would.
Additionally, don't follow the flawed line of logic of "trans man -> vagina -> bottom -> fem/femme." It's fine to make your gay trans male characters fem but please, I swear to god please give them a good reason for being so. If you do make your character femme, be very cautious to use language that doesn't trigger actual trans men's dysphoria. Don't constantly point out the character's physical features that may be associated with femininity unless you're making a point either about his dysphoria or about how society treats him or maybe about how he comes to accept his body. However, please be extremely careful with the last one as this trope has been used in so many transphobic portrayals.
Have your gay trans male character exist in gay spaces with other gay men (both cis and trans). Have him be open about being a gay man specifically. Give him cis gay male friends. Give him trans gay male friends. Don't allow your reader to ignore the fact that he is very much a gay man.
Dysphoria
For the love of all things good, please do not write your gay trans male character's dysphoria as "from the day I was born, I knew I was born in the wrong body. I have had no internalized shame or guilting into making me doubt my transness, and it was obvious that I was not a woman." That's not how anyone's dysphoria works, even if they did know from a young age that they were born in the wrong body.
For gay trans men specifically, most of us end up realizing we're trans around either age 12 or age 20. This doesn't mean he has to be exactly that age, but that's generally the safest age to have your character's egg crack. Of course, you can sprinkle in signs that he's trans since he was a young child, but I know a lot of gay trans men and I have yet to meet one who has known since birth and has had no doubt in his mind about it. However you can and should write older gay trans men, even some who find out they're trans in their 40s or older. Representation of older trans people is seriously lacking compared to how many there are.
Don't make your character the stereotype of a straight trans man who doesn't face the specific intersection of being trans and gay. Facing this intersection does affect something even as personal as dysphoria. Many of us will have self-doubt, believe that we're disgusting fetishists of gay men, or simply exist as women in gay spaces for a time. You also have to take into account gay beauty standards & your character's upbringing to figure out what they're likely to be most dysphoric about.
hi :3
That's it for now. I'll keep adding to this post as I get feedback and suggestions. If you want more advice, feel free to send me an ask. When I get enough asks about things, I'll make an FAQ post answering some of them.

I always felt the way Gabriel got the miraculouses (peacock and butterfly) was very… underwhelming, to certain extent
The idea of him hiring someone to find them and going on a epic quest is kinda good, but I also expected something more. What if Gabriel hired someone very dangerous like a kind of Evil organization which wanted to exploit the power of the miraculouses or at least a evil organization which only got the grasp of the miraculous after making a deal with the agreste since they promised a lot of money, and at the end they saw the great powers of the miraculous and said “maybe I want more for this deal”, Nathalie could still be the ones who helped find them like a retired member of said organization. Imagine if after Gabriel was defeated in like season 3, the leader of said organization appeared asking for the miraculouses since he’s deal with Gabriel was to get Akumas to make weapons with in exchange of keeping the secret of Gabriel having the miraculouses, and when the villain arrives he takes Gabriel’s place has the ‘big bad’ by changing the Akumas with Robots or something similar. It would connect with the past events, making it feel like the universe is more grounded and actions have consequences (I always love when details which could be look over like “how did this war between humans and monsters start?” Get fleshed out to explain a future threat like “oh it was the fault of this man which manipulated both sides so he could gain ultimate power”, but miraculous always takes this concepts like the ‘what destroyed the order of the guardians’ or ‘what broke the peacock’ and then proceeds to give the most simple and boring answer to return to the status quo)
But something so crucial has “the way Gabriel found the miraculouses” feels very unimportant, that adds nothing to Nathalie’s character, Heck it even makes her even less interesting to me.
I always saw this small parallel between Marinette and Nathalie (fell in love with this rich boy and did everything for them in blind love) and then it results the way Nathalie and Gabriel meet was when Gabriel was married and searching for magical jewels to impregnate he’s wife. Why Nathalie fell in love with Gabriel? I always thought they were childhood friends to parallel Adrien’s and Marinette’s relationship in earlier seasons, but current seasons make Nathalie slightly interesting and deep, but kinda take away what kinda made me interest even in the slightest on the character, specially when Gabriel became a Abusive father all of the sudden which turned their relationship also suddenly into the joker and Harley Quinn and just because she surpassed the Harley Quinn syndrome doesn’t mean she became more of a endearing character (mainly because she didn’t do much or actually tried to stop Gabriel outside of a couple scenes which didn’t actually add nothing to the plot), specially since the appeal to me was how Gabriel didn’t want Nathalie to risk herself, a lot of people say Gabriel was abusive but at first (before Gabriel became a psycho) Nathalie did brought herself a lot of pain when Gabriel openly asked her not to do that (heck, 70% of the time she was Mayura is because of her own choice against Gabriel’s wishes. Until suddenly Gabriel stopped acting like a character with deep who cared for her like showed before, and actually asked her to use it which completely contradicts heroes day part 2. So this ’abusive to Nathalie’ Gabriel was a mix of character assassination for both)
I just feel how Nathalie wasn’t handled well, and the way Gabriel got the miraculouses wasn’t very climatic or even interesting since we don’t even know very well how Gabriel even discovered the existence of this jewels
I don't really expect a big flashback episode, but if this backstory is something you're using to build the entire show's conflict on, I'd at least expect more than "Kid Fu broke the Peacock Miraculous, lost it and the Butterfly, and then they were found by Gabriel and Nathalie a long time later".
Then again, this is the same show that decided to put the scene showing why Gabriel decided to become Hawkmoth in the video game of all things. Believe me, when I get the time to cover that, I'll have a lot to say about that decision.

My personal timeline as a multi shipper
Here’s my controversial MHA (I know I know) ship timeline. I see a pattern of simply liking a ship because the two characters had an interesting interaction or exclusive to Izuocha, where Ochako can only likes Izuku. This is in order by timeline. I want to to spread this to show people that you are not hated by 100% of a group of anybody. We are all multi-faceted beings. My ships are based on interesting dynamics not canon-ness thereby superiority. This list is based on a timeline, not my interest.
‘Shipping’ in my case is simply enjoying the characters in a fanart or fa fiction outside of canon which is deemed more than is needed to understand the charcters. Support romantic or otherwise fanart with mainly two characters basically. It doesn’t even mean I see how they would be together in canon. Before bakudeku, I read most of these at the same time. I felt I had to have one ship only at some points too which isn’t true.
Maybe shipping for me is just liking an aspect of a story.
Izuocha. I liked this ship because it seemed like it was going to be obviously canon. I enjoy a lot of canon-ships like NaruHina, KanaTanjiro or just about any of my favorite shoujo and boys love pairings. Also a few spare girls love comics too; cute! I just thought that’s how it was. First friend and supportive and obvious.
Kacchako. I enjoyed their fight in the Sports Festival arc of mha because Katsuki didn’t hold back. I agreed with most of the crowd, he’s /kind of/ insane in how he acts at his point in the series. I fully believed he would go Sasuke or Villain route in this part of the series. I liked that he didn’t treat her differently because she’s a girl despite his intentions. Ochako put up her best fight and found something new in herself that she hadn’t before; the wit and quick thinking to fight back against a super strong unrestrained Enemy. I ended up seeing a BEAUTIFUL fanart of him sitting at a desk and Ochako sitting at a wind that was amazingly rendered. I read a lot of— let’s just say extremely out of pocket fan fiction about this rare pair. I felt insecure about this ship because it got made fun of online. Also Bakugo’s ‘nothing frail about her’ comments in the relationship connection extras. Regardless, interesting, fun, imaginative, unexpected.
KiriBaku. This seems to be the mostly widely /accepted/ ship in my opinion. I feel like it has the most support in the American fandom. Kiri was super popular at the time I joined my hero and I was deep in the weeb-tok era of 2019 through 2021(anyone else miss the “Iwa-Chan, kageyama!/ I know that I’m gonna slaughter dis” sound? And OH the cosplays). MAN I miss it it was so fun and less dodgy than boring-ass takes and blind fighting on twitter. I was a bakudeku hater at this time because I blindly believed the death threats were true. I didn’t hate the ship personally feel deep down but I thought actual death threats would’ve been too far. I often dumped mean and repetitive comments on anti-bakudeku tiktoks. I really enjoyed an actor au where the author switched the moha characters to playing their Japanese voice actors. Baku go/okamoto really wanted to play a canon gay character in the drama they were actors in but Izuku got it first which caused his continued resentment of izuku because he assumed he was not gay. It was really fun and some of the fics were very memorable and wholesome. Good times! At the transition between these two ships the fandom was all happy and the fanfics were funny and Bakugou was being supportive of his friends in his own way at this point.
Bakudeku. The plot twist of the century. But, not really. See, I hated bakudeku mostly because I wanted to fit in with the popular opinion and simple “they hate each other!!”. In order to seem normal and not insane since it was so hated. Again, I already thought bakugo’s character because it humanizes a bully in a realistic way. I usually live for those crazy ass villains anyway; it’s just anime. Death Note??? But obviously, I never would have put Bakugou in Izuku together. Rewatching season 1 that shot was terrible as fuck and heart wrenching and I feel so bad again after watching and I can see why I absolutely hated Katsuki when I watched mha. I can see why people still hate him. Again, I started looking at the fanart out of spite and saw a lot of fanart with one of them looking at the other back and watching them from behind. It’s really true to the series. It is so heart wrenching to watch and read. That’s why I like reading it. I’ve read SOO many fics where either of them die mostly Izuku, because of the suicide comment, but eventually with the event of black whip, mostly Katsuki for obvious reasons. There’s a deep theme of saving and winning and even the horror of death when you love someone so obviously I was captivated. Some fics, and I mean A LOT, basically predicted word for word the hospital scenes. I don’t like ‘I know your secret power’ tropes, but it’s there. There’s just so much between them it’s crazy. The way /The Way You Used To by: edema ruh/ has like the exact hospital scenes that LATER!!!! Happened in the manga… the death, the emotional power-ups, the connection of a separate soulmate ( ‘nother person in your body thing like the vestiges) quirk, PLUS ofa transactions inspired by two heros that canonically seem like they’re about to happen. You’ve got the Volume cover and everything to show for it too. Themes of almost Spider-Man and Gwen???? I rewatched Spider-Man 2 and it’s like huh??? And also Izuku is inspired by spider-man as well? Oh SHIT, is bakugo Izuku’s failed save? I’m gonna be SO FUCKINNG MAD if that happens, but I’m one of those people who enjoys angst a lot at the same time and I will appreciate it. I’m so everything for this ship for this ship platonic friendship or not I may just ship their friendship
TodoIIda. Usually, I don’t find a lot of my ships seeming canon except for this one. I already know that any important relationship or friendship between characters can be shipped but since they aren’t seen interacting on screen much next to the scene where iida saves him instead of going ahead, it really stuck. That must have been Horikoshi’s intention because he came back to them recently like they matter to each other. I JUST remembered the stain arc and how IIda and Shouto’s can relate on wanting revenge. Iida’s motto to help someone anywhere any time relates to Todoroki’s helplessness as a child. They’re important to each other. Friends, family.
Togachako. I didn’t consider this a ‘ship’ per se until recently, but I was obsessed with how Toga wanted become Ochako and the people she loves also how they like the same boy I guess?? Izuku seems oblivious and somehow even unrelated to their relationship even though it started it. There was this one cosplay tiktok with a poppy sound on it and I was OB- SESSED. I told you I love me some crazy simpy villains and Toga is just that. Unexpected was how Ochako starts to focus on her specifically and want to save her. I was NOTTT expecting her to say she was jealous of her smile. I was so sad when Himi said she didn’t want to talk to Chako anymore so I was PUMPED to hear people spreading the misleading togacjako canon on twitter. Toga biromantic/sapphic vampire whose blood-sucking is like kissing, is getting blood from ochsko for the rest of her life. I don’t know if toga really cares anymore. I also enjoy their possible relationship to Yuki-onna. Would love if something came out of them in canon, though I just realized toga explicated said she wanted to go out with Izuku so why can’t she do it for ochako?
dabihawks. I was SO confused why people shipped this when they barely showed their interactions. I only realized when a mostly canon style fan manga dubbed did a dabihawks comic. I then realized they are are almost the same childhood reflections of each other, neglected, abused by their parents
As an end note, I learned that every ship dynamic has to be romantic, but usually it is because of recent fan culture. I’m 15 but I know a lot about older fandom because I was an avid Kaichou Wa Maid Sama fan and used the less popular fan fiction.net. People are a lot nicer on fanfixtion sites than on social media sites, I’ve learned also older fandoms didn’t get massively hated on like MHA does. There’s just more people in the world who watch now. Remember to be yourself because there’s always someone feeling just like you out there, I promise. Chaio;3

@witchcraftandburialdirt asked:
"Tarhos … " Haruko's sonorous voice cut through the lingering silence of Shattered Square, his hands submerged in a bucket of red-tinted water, the foam spreading onto the fabric beneath, "D-do you think we're going to surviv -- !"
His eyes snapped open wide in surprise when his beloved husband interrupted him mid-question only to add another shirt being dropped into the tub in front of him, effectively splattering bubbles all across Haruko's curls. That simple act served to transport him back and reawaken memories of a bygone era, one full of bittersweet dealings. A time filled with the morning aubade of birds, their sweet music easily fluttering over the distant drums of war and hollers of men. Down by the river … away from their encampment and alone as the sun died and the moon rose to run her radiant fingers over their embraced bodies. Still then, his husband would drop laundry in front of him - ever the same … And before long his once solemn stare shifted into one of playful aggravation and pointed towards Tarhos; unable to keep his mouth shut he practically blurted:
"You are the most insufferable man I have ever met! Have you no decency? No shame? You brute --!" Wet laundry was hurled through the air, eagerly connecting to the back of Tarhos' head with a thwack! and a joyful titter from his wife, "Out of all the people here, why do I have to be stuck with you!" Slap! A sock! Whap! Alejandro's tunic! Haruko stood up and approached his husband, stifling his giggles as she playfully jabbed Tarhos in the chest with the tip of her finger, shifting his weight with a cock of his head and tilt of his hips, "And do not think you are going to be walking away. No no no, you are going to help me with all of this after dirtying my water!"
With a mocking sneer, his eyebrows drew together and his tongue peeked between his teeth, as he pressed yet another sopping shirt against Tarhos' chest before his brow rose challengingly, lips drawn in a wide grin. His smile was luminous, a delicate blush tinting his cheeks and growing up to reach the tips of his ears, and his eyes held the entirety of the night sky in their depths. A teasing swoon: "After all, O' Fair Knight, what is a naive and weak-willed maiden like me to do? I am not strong enough to carry the burden alone~"
 ━ Dead By Daylight
Tumblr media
The square was cast in shadow, far was the blinding light he was once permitted and now the dim gloom enshrouded the old square. Still... Tarhos could see how his wife's brows knitted, his solemn gaze as he stared at the murky water he practically rubbing his fingers raw trying to get the stains out. The knight was aware of his faults, how he's failed him time and time again... at least outside of the trials they could pretend things were normal until they'd get interrupted again. He walked over slipping off his linen shirt and teasingly dropped it in the water if only to take his mind off of whatever question neither of them had answers to that was bothering him.
The amusement in Haru's voice almost made him laugh far before the wet linen it the back of his head forcing him to turn around and face the maiden who seemed to be well out of his own solemn head now. The knight forced a teasing huff placing his hands on his hips as he looked down at his wife, his pale eyes glittering with bemusement at the situation, but he let him "rant" on just like he would do in simpler times. How his rants would turn into fits of giggles until he couldn't finish his sentence, "Well maybe if you hadn't used up all your energy throwing things and ranting like mad-man over laundry you'd be able to finish it love." It was hard to even try to pretend to be serious.
He let his hands fall from his waist and reach for his wife's, his calloused fingers tracing every small nick and scar before he'd bring his knuckles up to his lips. It was sweet for a moment until he made a face and spit onto the ground, "Fucking hell- forgot about the soap."

Broken Doll Part 3
SUMMARY “You’re a blank omega, right?”
That question has been asked too many times in his life. Not that it had ever been Trelawny's choice to even BE blank. It's his greatest wish to bond, to feel connected, but when he bonds with Arthur Morgan, it's more pain than he ever bargained for.
There’s a modest mansion nestled in the rough little valley of Willowbrook. It was impossible to see from the road and had remained almost undetected for years. According to Trelawny’s sources the property had enough valuables to make a duchess blush, and he and his compatriots aimed to alleviate these wonderful people of that heavy burden.
‘Wonderful’ being a rather subjective term, his sources were also quick to share rather strongly held opinions of these people.
‘Peculiar’, ‘odd’, ‘strange’ was often used by the polite.
‘Fucking insane,’ from the more honest.
Trelawny despised going in blind, and so he had persuaded Arthur to rather take things a bit more methodically this time around. They were to watch the house for three days to pinpoint routines, determine how many people lived there, and possibly find out who these people actually were.
Arthur and Trelawny set out early that next morning. Charles and Javier would head off later in to small town nearby to see if they could pick up any more information. Trelawny would prefer to be plucking the brains of sheriffs and barmen, but he opted for a few days in the countryside this time. Besides, if his con was to work on these, he really shouldn’t be seen too much in town. Once Arthur and Trelawny had determined the variables, they were to meet Charles and Javier by a crossroads where they’d discus the plan further. Simple, easy as can be.
And of course Trelawny would be acting as distraction and right in the firing range as per usual.
He never really minded it. He quite enjoyed being the center of so much attention; it fed the ego enough for at least a few weeks. As a performer by nature, he really couldn’t be anywhere else but on the stage. No matter the size of it or the type.
The ride was quiet, the horse’s hooves soft against the dew-soaked earth as they cantered over the wet mud. Trelawny in a rare moment enjoyed the silence, taking the time to think of possible distractions and the problems which might occur during the heist.
His appaloosa tossed his head a few times, more frisky than he first thought. So, when they turned the corner to take the main road he egged him on a bit, taking Arthur past with a bright laugh. Arthur, of course, did not take to that kindly and quickly sped up, coming up from the side. Trelawny lay low on Gwydion’s back, feeling the muscle and bone shift and pound beneath him. He heard a sharp whistle just as they reached a hill and like a shot, Arthur and Boadicea shot past them and reached the top a good length ahead of them.
“Ya really thought you could beat Boa?” he asked panting and patting her arched neck.
Trelawny laughed again, “Perhaps on a dull long stretch of road you can beat us, Mr Morgan. But give us a road with sharp turns and all manner of obstacles, and Gwydion will show you how it’s done.”
The little appaloosa tossed his head as if in agreement and Arthur snorted, shaking his head.
“I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Trelawny laughed and they continued onwards.
They reached the small mansion by midafternoon. Surroundings hills and forests made it difficult to see if you didn’t know where to look. It was as dilapidated as he expected. The estate around it had become over grown with weeds, the plants and garden unkempt and unruly. But even without binoculars, he could see a stable full of horses, a man walking down a path to what he assumed was a greenhouse.
There was life, and treasure to be found. Jewels if his sources were good – which they always were - a whole stack of jewels hanging behind a portrait in the main bedroom.
“You sure about this?”
“Have I ever been wrong?”
Arthur huffed, “Wrong? No. Unlucky? Hell, yes.”
“Let’s hope my luck has turned.”
Arthur snorted and turned Boa away from the house, “Let’s go find us a spot.”
They quickly set about scouting the area. They were looking for a spot that was both secluded and free of too much traffic. Some of these areas could be quite busy and they wanted to avoid them as best they could to avoid suspicion. They discussed possible pitfalls of the area, noting homesteads that were too close for comfort or trails hidden between the trees that hinted at possible traffic.
They finally settled on a cramped forested area, obscured from view but with a high ridge on the site which would be perfect for Charles to take out a few men with his bow if need be. But just before starting their vigil, Arthur noted a woodcutter’s camp only around thirty yards from the road. They packed up and moved on.
It would be dusk before Arthur finally settled on a spot: a slight ridge far from roads with a perfect view on the mansion hidden between trees and bush. A long stretch of river hugged the short hill close from the east, cutting in between the house and the hill and a rock face rising up behind them, meant they would not easily be spotted if they kept low. They scouted the area for a good hour but found no settlements, farmsteads, homesteads nor well-hidden woodcutters or trail.
“This should do very nicely,” Trelawny agreed, plopping down on a rock overlooking their target directly.
“You tired of looking, old man?” Arthur’s smile was downright mischievous.
Trelawny took off his hat and wiped at his forehead, “Not all of us can be boorish gorillas with more brawn than brains, Mr Morgan.”
He snorted, “I’ll go get us a rabbit, can you start the campfire?” he paused, then turned back and with a downright mischievous smile said, “Do you even know how?”
Oh that little snip. Taking a long drag of his cigarette, Trelawny stood up and walked straight towards him scratching at his chin with an idle hand.
“I rightfully don’t know,” he said, voice taking on a slight sing-song tone. “I haven’t done it in a while, I do so love living the high life, eh, Mr Morgan?”
“You sure do.” He crossed his arms, as if waiting for something. And Trelawny so hated disappointing people.
“Well now,” he raised a hand with a closed fist, and looked straight at Arthur, “Do you think this will work?”
Bright yellow sparks clapped right in Arthur’s face, he took a wild step back and nearly stumbled to the ground in his haste. “Fuck, Trelawny!”
He laughed right from his belly, and Arthur, despite his surprise failed to hide his own grin. “Go get us some dinner, my dear boy! I believe I can figure out a blasted campfire.”
“I think you just might,” he agreed, jumping on his mount, Arthur tipped his hat the man took off into the field.
Shaking his head, Trelawny e went to gather some sticks for the fire. He had only done so years ago while travelling with a Circus. They’d been kind, they taught him magic, and showed to him that he could survive, that he could be more than he ever thought he might be. Mostly, he remembered Bryan…
A love nurtured through wild adventures and constant laughter. A kiss in the dark, an embrace that turned into more, the sharp sting of a bite, and the painful disappointment of a bond unformed.
His hand paused, turning its journey away from a stick to settle instead on his neck. Bryan had, at least not abandoned him as the others had. Over twelve bites and not a single one would take. Not even his dear Deirdre, whom was now married to the owner of a mine up in Saint Denis.
Frederick was his name.
He sighed heavy and deep, and quietly gathered a few more sticks for the fire, pushing away his misery.
Thoughts of bonding brought up thoughts of Arthur and his impending marriage. He wondered what it would be like for the Alpha to be shackled to a Beta. Shackled might be a rough a term, but many Alpha’s felt incomplete in beta marriages.
Was that the reason the lad was so uncertain?
“Josiah!”
Oh dear, I’ve lingered for too long. Grabbing around three more sticks he popped up and hurried back to camp.
“On my way, dear boy!”
Arthur, silhouetted by the dipping sun, spun to him, his expression tight with worry, “Thought something had happened.”
Josiah held back the urge to roll his eyes, “I am fine, Arthur. I’ve been taking care of myself since I turned fifteen.”
“Sure,” he shrugged, “But anything can happen.”
Trelawny glanced up, a sharp reprimand on his tongue, but Arthur’s demeanor made the words curl up and die. His stood; hands on his hips, head bowed a little, and shoulders hunched and so clearly worried.
“True,” he said instead, “But I’m fine,” he touched his arm and Arthur’s smile widened a little, soft with relief.
The evening came alive with the barks and caws of nightlight. Trelawny leaned back against the rock, taking long delicious drags from his cigarette.
“Arthur…” he ventured.
“Mm?” Arthur, hat tipped low was leaned against a tree; hands crossed over his stomach and head bowed.
“Have you ever been bonded?”
The head tilted up, revealing wary eyes.
“You asked me so many questions last night that I thought it only fair to ask you in turn.” He took another long drag and kept his eyes on his companion, examining his reaction. Arthur’s expression softened a little, his lips pursed under the hat then with a heavy sigh.
“No.”
“Truly?” That was surprising, “I’d have thought you’d have at least one sweetheart by now!”
He chuckled and shook his head, “Nah, not yet.”
“Oh? I find that hard to believe.”
“Believe it.”
“Especially,” he continued, ignoring his response, “Seeing as you were so adamant to know how to court a lady when you were but eighteen years old.”
The nightlife sounds crept back in. The stark shriek of an owl piercing the night and punctuated the absolute silence from his partner. Arthur sat forward, his face falling into shock.
“You remember that?”
Trelawny laughed, “Of course!” he said, “How could I not? Young Arthur marching up to me with a face carved of stone and asking pertinent, deliberate questions about how to court a lady.” Trelawny laughed, “And after you had your fill, you had nodded and marched off only to ignore me for a whole of three months!”
Arthur buried his face into his hands, “Ahh damn, I thought you’ve have forgotten about it. That was just…” he cleared his throat.
“Endearing?”
“Stupid,” he muttered pulling his face out his hands, “Just beyond stupid.”
Trelawny shook his head, “Not stupid if it was sincere,” he stared at Arthur, “Was it?”
“What?”
“Sincere?”
In true Arthur fashion he rubbed the back of his neck and smiled, “Yeah, I guess. But I never asked them though.”
“Why ever not?”
“Chickened out.”
“A shy Alpha? Now there’s a thought.”
Arthur reached over and punched him lightly in the shoulder, “Shut-up!”
Trelawny laughed.
For the rest of the evening, they sit around the small fire, chatting about anything and everything, Trelawny truly enjoyed Arthur’s company, his smile and laugh, and that wonderful shyness that cropped up from time to time. Endearing really was the best word to describe the man.
The rabbit was delicious, the company even better, and he went to sleep with a lighter heart.

A Canon Remi x Levi One-Shot
⚠️Content Warning⚠️
Smut, Aggression
Author’s Note: The boys be fucking in canon idk what else to tell you
Tumblr media
Description: After being forced away from the wolf earlier that morning, he finds himself missing him. Visiting to feed the man gets steamy when Remi can’t find an appetite…for food.
It had been quite some time waiting for the wolf with Drae on now thirds of breakfast. “Hey I’m going to go look for Rem, you good here?” The cat asked politely before standing up at the table. Draeko waved him off shoveling another bite of syrup slathered waffles into his face.
“Totally good, go find your man,” Levi waved at the other and then carefully made his way through the halls with his container in tow full of fresh breakfast eggs, toast and sausage…well kinda fresh, room tempy. He wasn’t exactly sure how he’d find his mate, what the evaluation would have consisted of but, he was sure no matter what, the wolf would be happy to see him, surely. As he reached closer, he noticed the man standing just outside his door, confusingly sniffing the air around him. “Oh! Hey handsome, there you are~” he spoke with a gentleness that immediately soothed the struggling man as he was now aware of his presence. Man, what luck that his little kitten had just poofed up right when he needed him.
“Hey there, cutie,” flashing a weakened grin at the other taking a calculated guess at where he was standing beside him by his shadow. He took note of the smell in the air, eggs…sausage? Had Levi come bringing food? He noticed a resistance in his stomach at the thought of food.
“I brought ya some breakfast since you took a bit longer than expected,” he now carried the food in one hand and taking Remi’s arm, leading him back towards the room, shutting the door behind them. Slowly, gently and patiently guiding his sweating, struggling mate over to the bed, Remi sat down. Once the wolf was settled Levi turned before smoothly sitting next to him on the bed, with a sweet smile spread across his face he brought a hand down to touch at Remi’s knee. Said man could only smile in return knowing that he had him by his side, despite not being able to see him there.
“You’re an angel…but honestly…I’m struggling to find the will to eat…” he sighed with melancholy, blind gaze falling downward to look at the shadows of his feet on the ground. Leaning into the other’s side Levi looked over at the man’s large hands, tracing every vein and flesh pattern with his sharp sky blues.
“Withdrawal?” The cat asked calmly while Remi responded with but a simple nod of his head.
“That and…I don’t know, talking about stuff with these people….just makes me lose my appetite on top of everything else,” the wolf looked over now at the cat as their eyes connected, still unable to process or make out his favorite blue orbs. Every day things seemed to get clearer and clearer but still unable to make out the one thing he wanted to see, Levi.
“Well, I got this ordered all special for you…so we can’t let it go to waste…” the smaller said thoughtfully as he looked around considering the options. They weren’t at home so he couldn’t just remedy this issue with weed, no….so he thought carefully. Meanwhile, Remi’s heart sank in his chest. Levi had gone out of his way to obtain this meal for him? ‘Oh come on, stomach! Why are you acting like this now??’ He thought internally, looking down with saddened pale greens.
“I’m sorry you went out of your way for me…” he muttered almost under his breath and Levi immediately perked up attentively, placing his hand at Remi’s strong slumped shoulder.
“Acushla…no, no…it’s okay! I’d do anything for you….and I mean anything…” a light bulb suddenly went off, the end of his sentence heated as he suddenly realized what he needed to do to get the wolf hungry again. Setting the container to the side, he hopped down off Remi’s bed, the wolf curiously following the shadow as it moved in between his legs, forcing his way to the edge of the bed, and sliding down….to his knees? The wolf assumed.
Correctly. Levi was definitely on his knees in front of the wolf and nuzzled his face against one of his strong thighs. “I-…baby, what are yo-…” suddenly he felt the leopard’s gentle palms gliding up both sides of his legs.
“You always need a snack after you cum….I figure…couldn’t hurt to try,” he bit his lower lip as his eyes could burn holes through his cheap hospital pants with the hungry gaze he held there. Remi would give up his left testicle to see the look on his little mate’s face. Just a crumb. His breath caught in his throat, biting his own lip, chewing slightly at the pierced corners.
“I’m definitely not against experimenting…help fix me nurse…” he said with a sly, cocky undertone as the wolf threaded both his hands through the messy strands of white and black hairs. The immediate validation Levi needed,
“It would be my pleasure…” purring with an alluringly haunting voice as the hands tangled in his hair beckoned him over, quickly he brought his slender fingers over the wolf’s waist band. Remembering distinctly from earlier that morning, he wasn’t going to have to wrestle with any underwear knowing his mate was currently commando. That and the large tent already starting to grow under the grey material made it that much more obvious. “Excited?” He giggled nuzzling the pitched cock through the fabric of tightening pants. Remi let out a whispered groan trying to keep himself steady as the cat teased him.
“Very…” he licked his lips rolling his eyes back and shut, arms flexing to fight the urge to relentlessly rut up against the other’s face. Levi let out a playful but sultry little laugh before quickly surfing the impatient organ out from behind the fabric. Now face to face with Remi’s half hard length he brought a flattened tongue out to slowly lick up the underside. “Mmm…” the cat moaned gently as he did so, pausing at the ridge of his head, slowly gliding the wet surface against each fold. Remi shuddered, letting out a strangled gruff of air. His cock coming to life under the little cat’s expert movements. Using medium force, guiding with both palms Remi slowly lowered Levi’s mouth, as to encapsulate the entire head, hot wet lips closing around it.
“F-fuck…kitten…” he let out another struggled gasp as Levi swallowed the tip of his cock now. Swirling a busy tongue in tight circles, teasing the hole there, the wolf pushed him further, then further, his pale greens snapping open to look at the light above him. “Riiiiight there…” growling with animalistic passion deep from within him. Levi gagged just slightly as he managed to allow the cock to slide down his throat, moaning around the tightened space in his mouth, the vibrations shooting up little sparks of ecstasy through Remi’s nerve endings. “GOD…” he gasped again as he felt the tip of Levi’s little pierced nose hit the base of his pubic area.
The leopard’s ocean blues now watering and squinted as he struggled to keep himself from gagging on the thick length inside his mouth. He’d finally got it all in, throat full, and you could see it bulging the narrow area of his neck. “Ffff…..oooo~” the wolf pushed out a breath of air as he huffed silently, his cock fully sheathed inside Levi’s throat, it only made him twitch. Truly he felt punished, it had been so long since he remembered what that gorgeous face looked like stuff full of his dick wrapped around those delicious lips. Frustrated that he was missing out on the image, he pulled back suddenly, where the cat gasped for a proper gulp of air before he was violently shoved back down. He would just have to picture it, that helpless dripping…blushing face. Crying diamond blues. Suddenly, like a switch had been set off, the wolf began to powerfully drive himself in and out of Levi’s slick and waiting mouth.
“Fuuuuu…cking insane…” the wolf huffed again as he continued to fuck the smaller’s swollen lips. Levi’s face now leaking from every orifice, nose, eyes, and mouth, saliva starting to pool down the younger’s soft chin as he gripped the edge of the bed. His head moved in quick matching bobbing motions to each aggressive thrust. Despite what anyone walking in may think, this was exactly what the cat had been missing. That terribly rough, borderline psychotic treatment he always pleasantly received when being intimate with the other. His throat continuing to vibrate and quiver around him as the room echoed with wet abrasive sloppy sounds, and rough gasps. He loved being treated like Remi’s own personal little flesh light…but only he got this side of Levi, only he got to treat Levi as such. Something the wolf was already confident in, he knew that every part of the leopard belonged to him, only him, and he would take it as such.
“Thaaaaat’s, right my little kitten, swallow me up now…make Daddy proud..” growling behind strained, closed teeth he continued to force his way in and out of the cat’s mouth. Levi could only whimper and mewl pathetically as he was relentlessly stuffed, struggling to breath and drooling down his own face. He continued with sharp, violent thrusts up against Levi’s maw until he finally pulled the leopard up for a quick breather of air. To which the thankful cat took great opportunity in, gasping needlessly before licking his lips and reopening his mouth to anticipate the next few malicious pumps. Plunging himself back into that familiarly warm and pleasant cave, Remi sucked a sharp gasp through his teeth. Levi’s hands coming up to grip each side of Remi’s thighs, squeezing with the tips of his fingers, long nails digging into the flesh and fabric there. The wolf biting his lower lip, puncturing through the flesh, to prevent himself from howling in pleasure as he felt the other’s nails drive into him. Remi lapped away at the crimson trail that dripped down his mouth.
“I’m going to fucking….bust…HOLY….” Continuing to pant and puff, swallowing a pool of blood that collected under his tongue, driving himself forcibly into Levi’s mouth. “SHIT…” he could barely keep his voice at a below audible sound as his orgasm rocked him, hit him like a ton of bricks, body trembling, as he lifted the cat’s face ever so slightly to insure he didn’t drown as the hot seed hit the back of his throat. With a very seductive and slow moan, Levi let every drop of cum slide gracefully down the hatch, slurping meticulously at Remi’s deflating length like a cum thirsty whore as his head was released. Remi sank where he sat and gasped, hand now grasping his chest. “Fuck babe…” he hissed breathlessly while his partner sat back to clean off his face with the edge of his shirt.
“Y-yeah?” He giggled shakily before coming back up to sit beside him on the bed. “Hungry now?” Laughing while still gently panting to catch his breath.

Snatching this character ask game to answer it in its entirety bc I'm currently sick in bed and this sounds like good distraction.
Here's your chance to read some lab rat character snippets.
Answering for Lahpp bc the brainworms got me bad the last 2 years.
A. What nicknames do they get called?
None, really. Unless employee numbers count as nicknames. I've made a joking comment about how Petthri would start calling him Gecko for absolutely no logical reason other than me being amused that the man's voice claim actor played a character with that name in a super niche musical. This isn't canon. But it makes listening to relevant songs funny.
B. Describe their family dynamic.
Non-existant. Didn't even have an official legal guardian until Rata Sum authorities required related paperwork for school stuff. There was the subkrewe that handled surveillance of his 'progress' and the head of the project was sort of 'in charge' of him but whatever relationship they had was nothing remotely comparable to a family. I think to this day he's got the hardest time wrapping his head around the concept of family relationships, other than of course the purely biological explanation.
C. What’s their weirdest habit or quirk?
Does consuming more coffee than anyone feasibly should count? I'm not even sure this man drinks anything else. Probably, but seriously unsure. Just don't question it, it hasn't killed him yet.
D. What was their high school college experience like?
This is one of those "20k essay; 1000 different amv scenarios" topics. In short: difficult, exhausting, but not as bad as it could have been.
On a social level he always felt like the odd one out and didn't have much contact to the other students, but he was never actively disliked or anything of the sort. Him being generally rather distant and observant probably intimidated a few people, as well as him being Inquest. Group projects went smoothly though, and interactions were superficially friendly. Just comparatively rare.
Work-wise he had to put in so much more effort than many others because of his disabilities, all while trying to be as stealthy as possible about it so noone would notice. He excelled in many challenges, didn't manage to hide all of it however; some things he simply couldn't do. Uncomfortable for him.
He was a really good student overall.
Also as a side anecdote, he got the typical "can you speak up please" a lot even though he was a front row regular. Soft-spoken guy.
E. What is their love language?
He's the "invite someone to go out for dinner" type. Spend some good quality time. He might get invested in the relevant person's interests too. Ask about them, enable some rambling, or ideally an interesting discussion.
F. How do they handle conflict?
That depends entirely on the kind of coflict and who or what is involved. Can range from "take the lead and try to find the most efficient solution" to "remove himself from the situation and just not deal with it at all".
G. What’s their greatest talent?
Developed mad acting & pokerface skills. He can smile through the most annoying social situations and you wouldn't guess he hates every single second of it. If he actively wants to give you that impression, that is. Sometimes he just doesn't bother.
H. Where is their favourite place to be?
Not sure if he has a consciously picked favourite place but he's comfortable enough in the small studio room connected to his lab. Made it a decently livable place. It's tiny (very tiny) but that's fine, he doesn't need much space. It's a place of peace and quiet, and that's what matters.
I. What makes them feel safe?
Good question! Next question.
J. What is their greatest weakness?
He's a coward who resigned himself to a life in a corrupt, hateful, criminal system. He was target of that very same system's bigotry for ages but he turns a blind eye on it out of fear and a lack of willingness to change anything. He's content being a simple cog in the machine, not caring about what its greater purpose is. is this what Camus calls philosophical suicide
Maybe one day he'll overcome the cowardice to face some difficult truths. Probably not.
K. What is their greatest strength?
If he says he'll get shit done, he gets it done. He's got an incredible amount of perseverance.
Especially in his teenage years this often meant choosing the path of more resistance simply to spite the people who would assume he wouldn't manage certain things. Even if those people would never actually know. He had to at least prove it to himself under the guise of acting out of spite. Is that even a strength anymore or actually a flaw? A strength born from flawed thinking?
L. What is their secrets to happiness?
Don't have anything change, find comfort in living the convenient lie. The illusion of happiness is good enough.
M. How do they handle competition?
If it's the kind of "who wins the monthly nonfatal pool by putting the most life subjects in a vegetative state" small-ego-competition then he simply doesn't care. Not because he has any moral issues with it but because he think it's a waste of time and just distracts from the actual tasks at hand.
If it's "the events in Cantha have put you in a physical and mental state that prevents you from working; and staying away on sick leave for a prolongued amount of time will eventually get you replaced despite decades of dedication" sort of competition then he doesn't handle it well at all. And he doesn't even believe anyone else could do his job better than him. Somehow that actually makes it worse.
N. What are their hidden talents?
Music. Got curious about the general topic in college. And in true spiteful (big fat disclaimer: asshole statement) "Oh you're severely HoH so this is clearly not for you" fashion, he decided this is exactly for him to get invested in. He got really into the theory part especially but also picked up an instrument (undecided which one. the decision has been haunting me for months.) to play.
Later when he met Luqqah they found out it's an interest they have in common so they spent a lot of time just either discussing or analyzing theoretical concepts or actually making some music. Luqqah taught him how to sing over the years! It's something he had wanted to learn well before he met her but very much lacked the confidence to start on his own.
He hasn't lost that passion over all these years, even if he didn't get to share it with anyone in a while. Post-EoD music trio incoming?
O. What motivates them?
In the past: Mostly fear with a good portion of spite.
Now: Mostly habit. Some underlying fears.
P. What advice would they give to their younger self?
If he could look past his own facade he'd likely tell his younger self to keep kindling at least a bit of that spiteful fire he had.
He does sometimes feel like he's lacking more "bite" the older he gets.
Q. Do they have a signature look or fashion?
Always got that eye piece on covering his left eye. You'll not encounter him without it. If you do, something's either wrong or you've somehow invaded into private space.
He spends the majority of his time working which means the majority of the time you'll find him in a labcoat. He also keeps his hair tied up for practical reasons.
His "casual" outfits are still surprisingly formal looking. He wants to leave a decent impression, you know. I'm awful at describing clothes so I'll skip this one until I one day inevitable draw it, but he's big on waistcoats and likes different shades of brown.
R. How tall are they?
Listen friends I'm really bad at understanding the gw2 race heights and putting them in perspective, but I assigned him a confident 98 cm (3'2") which in my world view is somewhere in the average middle. Not super short, not tall.
S. What’s their relationship like with their parents?
Somewhat answered in the family dynamics question. As for his biological parents, he never knew them. His -on paper- legal guardian wasn't much of a parental figure. Did it fuck him up growing up without any real guiding figure to look up to? Sure. Did it take time for him to understand that this is not the normal experience every child has? Unsure if he actually ever fully understood. Rationally he does, but emotionally this is a different matter.
T. What are their favourite foods?
He's really gotten into wasabi.
U. What do they like to do in their spare time?
See the music answer. Also reading an interesting book in a quiet environment is always a good pastime.
V. What’s their biggest pet peeve?
So he's generally really good at keeping his cool but he's got absolutely zero (0) patience for several people talking over each other in the same time. There's a reason he demanded his own lab space when everyone moved over to the CoE.
W. What’s their favourite sport?
If dancing is considered a sport (I believe it is?) Petthri might eventually get him to be interested enough as a spectactor. Let that be a future arc.
Otherwise literally no interest in any at all.
X. What’s their biggest fear?
Death. And I don't mean it in a 'most people find thinking about their own mortality uncomfortable' way, I mean it in a seriously phobic way. It keeps him up at night. He's had numerous seriously bad panic attacks over it. Based important decisions on it.
There was a time of his life it got somewhat better but it's catching up to him again recently.
Y. What physical object do they value most?
Whatever omious instrument I'll decide on that he owns will probably be valuable to him. I have no idea otherwise.
Z. What’s their relationship status?
Officially single (and it will stay that way). Unofficially complicated.
For the really curious: I suppose their current relationship is best described as "friends with benefits". No they have not kissed yet. I'm gonna first have to figure out when and how and why and if at all and
That said I have this shitpost scene-that'll-never-happen in my head of Luqqah meeting Lahpp and Petthri during the whole EoD disaster and in a moment of quiet she and Lahpp sit together. And she looks him in the eyes and goes "So are you two boyfriends?" And before he can even try to defend himself she continues "You break up with me because you figure out you're gay. And then you're gay for that?" Poor Petthri.

i wrote a piece about this very feeling while traveling a few months ago
On my middle flight to Montana I sat snug between two men. One slight, in all black, an air of casual calm femininity present. The other a short older man in a charcoal brown suit. Upon a long session of taxiing, I was able to start reading. Anxious from our delayed flight due to over capacity, music didn’t feel right or just. If we were going down, I didn’t want to be oblivious. Once moving with more integrity, the lights suddenly dropped, only an abnormal blue mingled with little skylight from a small window a row or two down. I read like this for a bit, rather causing blindness in myself than choosing to turn on an overhead light in the middle seat. But at accidental glance, I noticed the man in black to my left looking at my page, assessing the light. He, at the time, having already started a film (La La Land). In seeing me he, without flinching, opens not one but both windows within his reach, suddenly flooding our section of the aircraft with light. We topple over each other with words, him, I assume, asking me, Is that alright? While I urgently mutter, But can you still see? He has to ask me what I’ve said, and I repeat my stumbling words.
Earlier in the day, a TSA agent laughed after glancing at my ID. I asked him what was amusing, and he croaks that he expected me to be much younger, sixteen or seventeen. Older men claiming this almost always feels teetering on crude, a freudian slight of lust for plump pimply adolescents. I didn’t except you to be so old. Maybe that colored the rest of my day, as I have remained feeling young and small ever since. Causing myself to wonder if everyone that sees me drinks in my perpetually worried grimace in motion. Chewing on a lip when self conscious enough to remember people may be looking at them, made small from dehydration. I mash them together now at the thought.
Hours later we leave the aircraft together, and walk to our separate terminals in a similar direction. I’m overwhelmed with the urge to ask him his name, what he does, what his life is like, why his phone was set to black and white, how he did that, and ultimately to thank him for his kindness. In the moment I was overtaken with the urge to cry at the simple act of kindness. I’ve known people for years, my whole life, that have not shown me that kind of attention and grace. I do not find the right moment to approach, hustling to my next destination in fear of missing my final connection, but I remain thinking of him, and being overwhelmingly curious and grateful.
For my final flight I was seated next to a blonde father and his young son. He picked School of Rock to watch, enthusiastically, and I was overcome with the urge to touch his head and land a small kiss where my touch left. It is very late at this point, and I unknowing of everyone else’s day of travel. Children on flights fill me with an overwhelming maternal urge that makes me forget about my own self, which is something I need in times like that. They matter more than me, and it’s helpful to obtain that mindset. An exercise in protection and letting go. Later, throughout tremendous turbulence, the child stays calm and cool, seemingly unaffected. Only a few glances towards his father. My eyes are bright and wild, hands gripping my seat and stomach somewhere lodged in my throat. I try to calm for the boy, or alternately, try and absorb some of his calm, close my eyes, and pray for safe descent.
the overwhelming feeling of sadness sometimes when someone treats me with kindness

"its a metaphor for capitalism"
just some fairly stream-of-consciousnesses thoughts about the movie as an extended metaphor for living in a capitalistic society because i just saw it for the second time and am no longer normal.
thinking about "spider-man is always alone" being repeated in a massive collective of spider people.thinking of how said collective system "must be kept running at any cost" and how heavily individualism is ingrained in citizens under a capitalistic society
thinking about how miles is already outcast/mistrusted from the larger system due to an intrinsic part of himself he cant control. thinking about how he saved a fellow spider-man from a great suffering that the system not only refused to prevent (despite knowing it was coming) but actively endorsed, and how this simple act of solidarity is seen as a danger that will end the system as a whole
thinking about gwens very explicet trans coding and how she s "like miles in the ways that matter" (an anomaly in society). thinking about how miguel didnt want her as part of his soider society, but she was begrudgengly let in partially out of pity and partially because of the good will of a citizen endorcing ("adopting?") her. thinking about how jessica made it clear from the beginning that gwens acceptance in the spiderverse community is extremely conditional, and the moment gwen messes up jessica will stop endorcing her. thinking about how gwen was forcefully outcast again after she stopped conforming and stood up for miles. thinking about gwen as a scapegoat for miguels anger at losing miles.
thinking about pav starting the story with nothing bad having happened to him. about how he goes through every day without having to try, and how he thinks life is easy. thinking about how up until that point the only thing he felt anxiety over was his crush and the only thing he was angry about was incorrect grammer. thinking about how he assumed the fight was over as soon as the person disappeared, and started celebrating even as everyone else was freaking out about how things were about to get much worse. thinking about how when something bad inevitably did happen to him and when his world was falling apart the large system he was a part of turned a blind eye, but individuals who had already gone through the same hardships reached out to help him and prevent things from getting worse. thinking about the look on pav's face when he nods to miles after he police captain is saved.
thinking about hobie brown, spider-punk, who is the only spider-man that is explicitly for miles and against miguel from the very beginning. thinking about how he spent the movie proving support to miles and gwen while refusing to engage with the system he hated. thinking about how he saw the signs of the group turning on his friends, so he taught miles how to escape, built gwen a way to reach her support system, and then quit when he was ordered to go against his values. thinking about how miguel had begrudgingly accepted hobies place in the spiderverse, but was clearly unhappy hobie was there and was tired of his presence to the point of refusing to engage. thinking about how hobie used this to his advantage. thinking about how hobie built his own versioin of the watch, showing that the system doesnt need to be relied on to access support. him asking miles why he didnt build his own watch and was relying on miguels. thinking about how hobie let gwen crash in his universe, leave her clothes/toothbrush there, and let her borrow his shoes. thinking about how he was good with mayday.
thinking about peter b parker. how the first movie showed us he had done some amazing things in his youth, but had grown more complacent as he aged and settled. thinking about how he connected with the next generation of (activists) spider-people while in a slump, and was able to pass on some life skills and experience. seeing him him in this movie, how he was inspired by the youth's struggle, but despite his positive feelings had effectively turned his back on the movement because he was in a better position in life and now had too much to lose. thinking about how he had a baby he was trying to raise to be just like miles, but that baby was preventing him from actually helping miles himself, who was standing right in front of him needing support. thinking about how his condolences of "thats the way its always been, no use in fighting it" did nothing to improve the situation and his cheers of "i taught him that! im a great mentor!" did nothing to help miles in the current struggle. thinking about how peter just didnt have room in his life to be a part of this movie because his entire world had become fatherhood.
thinking about jessica also being a(n expecting) mother. thinking about how she acted as miguels right hand and main backup, helping him hold up the system throughout the whole movie. thinking about how she made an exception or gwen because she saw a piece of herself in the younger "spider-woman" and pitiied the struggle she saw in front of her. thinking about the older generation simultaneously supporting the youth as they struggle, whle also enforcing the aspects of society that cause struggle in the first place. blinded by their own painful experiences, they treat symptoms and not causes
thinking about miguel being a filthy rich business man with a futuristic aesthetic. thinking about him being a literal vampire. thinking about his desire to return to his old family (values). thinking about how much of a hypocrite he was to miles, saying things like youre not supposed to be spider-man" or "youre an anomaly" when tthese things apply just as heavily to him. thinking about how he said hes the only one keeping the system together when he's shown throughout the entire movie to be one of the most out of control emotionally. often times throwing things, attacking others, making impulsive decisions to outcast others, and pressuring everyone to take his side. thinking about how from the vulture fight all the way to banishing gwen various people flat out tell him he doesnt look like the good guy in whatever situation, and he always insists he is.
thinking about the spot, who after being caught in the crossfire of a largescale tragedy and losing his previous life, finds himself with no job or support system, and turns to a life of crime. thinking about how even as he was actively harming others he kept up his victim mentality. thinking about how he refused to blame those who were actually responsible for the tragedy or simply accepting that sometimes awful things happen to you is a simple bit of bad luck, he instead chose one person (or group of people) as a scapegoat, and chose to interoperate the largescale tragedy as something very personal, and that his appropriate response would be causing as much suffering in the lives of those who have "wronged" him as possible. thinking about how he started off as something with intimidating words but unthreatening, vaguely goofy vibes. but since he wasnt taken seriously or dealt with early on he was able to pick up steam and soon became something so overwhelmingly powerful he is a threat to the entire system all by himself. thinking about the rise in hate after 9/11. about the school shootings and moral panics of today. about various presidents and hate groups.

The Whumper's Soiree - @the-whumpers-soiree - Continuation from Anticipation
-
“I swear to God, man. I will end you. I’ll fucking kill you, you’ll wish—“
A quick swipe from the cane across his chest made Whumpee cry out, cutting off his murderous ranting.
All that raw anger still spilled from the man – vocally and physically – and in those moments, his focus wavered, too blinded by his rage to see the blows coming, even with Whumper right in front of him. And he did like to tease him by circling around him.
But underneath it all, when he was quiet and steaming, Whumper could see that what he was looking for: that fear. He saw it in the man’s eyes as he kept looking at the cane, trying to anticipate Whumper’s moves and when he would strike next. Saw those eyes squeeze shut, saw his body brace itself and flinch away from him in those split seconds as he raised the cane.
The man was on full alert. Though it should be easier for him to predict what was next, because the source of pain came from his own attitude. Cause and effect. But he didn’t reel it in.
Yet.
Whumper loomed over him, cane in one hand, the cattle prod in the other. With all the vitriol Whumpee was spewing, he had to alternate between his tools very fast.
He had a simple system: Cane for backtalk, aggression, cursing, the whole nine yards the guy had to offer. But the prod was for lies.
Let’s see which of these tools he could cast aside first. Or, well, let’s see if the guy would actually realise what the consequences for his actions were.
He circled behind the kneeling and now trembling figure, dual-wielding his weapons so Whumpee couldn’t see what was coming.
But really… if the guy was smart, he should by now. It wasn’t that hard to make the connection.
The endless array of ‘fuckfuckfuckfuck’s had already left quite a number of red lines over the man’s body, some visible and peeking out from under the collar of his white dress shirt. Though most of the lines were hidden across his back. And by now he couldn’t even get a full sentence of lies out before the prod either warped it into screams or fully took his voice.
Technically, all this talk of murder could be considered lies… because Whumper would make sure he could never act on them. But, well, he had to draw a line somewhere. And Whumpee would probably make true on his threats were it not for those handcuffs.
“Yeah, I’ve never seen anyone break free of handcuffs. Unless you’re as strong as you think you are, you’re not getting out of this.”
Whumpee’s lips twitched in a snarl and he was about to open his mouth, but when Whumper casually flicked the cane upwards a little in warning, he just grit his teeth and clammed up.
“See, you’re learning already,” Whumper said, almost in praise. Damn, if this wasn’t his favourite part. That first little crack.
“Fuck you man, I am not—“ but the shudder of the next shock went through his entire body and his voice. Yes, you are, the prod corrected. “This is... this is nothing—Aahh!!” Another shock. He shook it off with a growl. “I can take it.” Another prod.
Whumper hummed at that. “I am not too convinced of that, really.” He walked back in front of Whumpee again, knelt in front of the slumped over and panting man. When he didn’t look up, too focused on getting his breath back and biting back the pain, he tilted his chin up with the end of the cane.
“If all this is too much for you… I could trade you…” Whumper paused with a grin, “and let you get away with a beating instead. Would you rather have that? It will be easier. It can be over in a matter of minutes. If I’m feeling nice I’ll even make sure you’ll wake up in your own bed. Or a hospital bed, depending how you’ll fare.”
He noticed the clear hesitation. Because who knew how long he was going to have to take this. The man’s jaw set in anger, but he didn’t outright spew his answer. He wasn’t about to admit that he’d rather get a taste of his own medicine, admit that this was worse. And that he was breaking. Already.
“No?” Whumper smiled, his finger on the button of his prod. This could count as a lie. But who was he to deny the guy a further lesson.
Even though Whumpee was desperately holding on to his broken pride, at some point the cracks would tear it further, and he himself would crush it completely in that tight grip, pressing it against his chest, cradling it in protection, until the pieces would slip out from under his arms and shatter to the ground.
And sure enough, the pressing silence – and Whumper’s smug smile probably – led him further down a beautiful path of self-destruction.
“Try what you want, you can’t break me,” he said, voice hard but shaking.
Whumper clicked his tongue. He trailed the prod over Whumpee’s collarbones, but didn’t activate it. Instead, he pulled away and stood straight.
“Yes… such stubbornness is hard to break,” he conceded. “But I think I have something that could help with that. And it may even help you out.” He pulled something from his bag, hid it behind his back and walked behind Whumpee, who tensed up again all ready for the next round of unknown pain and he twisted his neck to see.
“No need to strain your neck, here...” A hand slid over his throat, making Whumpee tilt his chin up in surprise, opening up access to his vulnerable throat.
Something slipped over and pressed against his windpipe, then tightened and pulled against his skin.
As Whumpee realized what was happening, or thought was happening, he bucked up, shooting up on his knees in a panic. His handcuffs rattled and pressed against his back in his fruitless attempts to bring his hands up to his throat and claw at the strap that took his air.
But Whumper merely tightened the collar with a sharp yank until he heard a cut off gasp and the guy went rigid, hands falling back down. He held the leather straining against the clasp with one hand, skin trapped painfully between metal and leather, and he pressed a knee against Whumpee’s back, but gently placed his other hand over his shoulder and guided him back down.
He eased up, letting the man get in a full gulp of air, but then fastened the clasp snugly around his neck. Just a notch too tight, making sure Whumpee would barely get enough air. The bare minimum. Making him work for it, and Whumpee took in a shuddering, wheezing gasp through his mouth.
Whumper fondly ran his finger over the cool clasp, pressing it into his neck before he stood and walked back in front of his captive where he knelt down.
The man’s face was all red, he was still panting – shallow quick puffs that would only make things worse – and while the fear in his eyes still shone bright the anger had fallen away. Now replaced with a confused shock. Poor guy must’ve been sure he was about to get choked to death.
Whumper smiled. A brush of death did wonders for attitude.
He brought up a teasing hand over Whumpee’s cheek, brushed a thumb over his skin in false comfort before he cupped his face and demanded attention back to him.
“There. With this, you’ll think twice about wasting any precious air on lies. Plus, it will help you come to terms with who is in charge here.”
He brushed his finger over the little metal loop that settled neatly in-between the man’s collarbones. God, as if he was made for this. It was a perfect fit. He trailed his fingers off, teasing over the clavicle, right – dipping under his shirt – and left, slightly entranced by the perfection of it all, before he settled on the metal again. He pressed it against the skin so Whumpee could feel the cold touch and he swore he felt a shudder.
“And if not…” he looped a finger into the ring and pulled him forward, hard. “It will give me other ways to bring you to heel.”

This was a request made by LudicrousLoopy - I hope you enjoy the way I’ve written your request and that I’ve written it to a standard that you enjoy! - which was meant to be posted earlier this week but I had a mishap with my laptop crashing!
Seriously I hope you enjoy!
So! This was an interesting request to do as it was my first time writing for something with ovipositor etc.
if this is something that doesn’t interest you please don’t worry I’m sure I’ll have something else written you’d enjoy
Warnings/Thoughts: Use of an Ovipositor, Impregnation/ Eggs and Slight Mummy Kink if you squint
Ovipositor: the thing the eggs come out of and includes the act of laying eggs in someone/something - Just thought I’d add the definition
Word-Count: 851 words
Please remember that Rui is 18+ in this
NSFW BELOW!
Rui always handled you with care, hands tracing such gentle shapes, kisses practically lighter than air against your skin as you sat on his lap, sitting so prettily on his relaxed legs.
Your mouth felt dry, like sand or dirt, and even though you did have saliva it just didn’t wet your mouth enough.
A gentle kiss - almost lighter than air – brings you back down, brings you back into painful awareness of how hot, embarrassed, and nervous you feel to your own arousal. He wasn’t a blind man, in fact, Rui favoured himself to be quite observational, he saw the way you shivered, saw the clenching of thighs together as you shifted and nuzzled closer to his chest.
You were still embarrassed at how quickly your arousal skyrocketed, how quickly your pupils blew wide with arousal at a quick passing comment that Rui had murmured earlier on about how much of a great mother you’d make.
Hushed whimpers fall from your lips as soft and study hands – usually moving with a swift deftness – trace gentle shapes on the bareness of your hips, Rui’s nails leaving fading trails of love as your thighs shivered as they contained his form between them, yet you knew that he could easily flip you both over, changing positions from being sat to something else with primal ease.
Rui’s white lashes fluttered prettily against the curve of his cheek; eyes filled with patient calmness compared to yours as with a gentleness only your shown, your pulled closer to him, his kisses feather-light against your skin.
You would have laughed earlier in the day at how intently he kissed you, would have giggled at how his breathe tickled the column of your throat but now you could only whimper as heat pooled at temperatures hotter than you’d ever felt before.
For a brief moment you regretted undressing so quickly, regretted being so bold and undressing the both of you with sitting stark naked on your lover’s lap.
“Please,” You murmured resting your forehead against Rui’s, eyes wet with unshed tears as your voice held a slight wobble “Be gentle with me…”
 “Always”
Kisses were once again peppered upon your skin, quiet praises slipping past Rui’s lips as with simple ruts against your bare pussy caused cute tears and whimpers to spill over, the nervousness you once felt – while still there at the backburner of your mind - practically evaporating with his touches, with the gentle nudges he gave.
No more time was wasted, Rui knew not to tease you when you were so nervous, tapered cock oozing precum and another type of sticky substance against your entrance. Taking in the way you whimpered against his mouth as with he pressed inside of you with ease.
You whimpered, hands tangling in the soft strands of Rui’s hair at the delicious pressure.
It felt as though everything was lit on fire; a full body burn, a warm, tingling feeling sprawled across your bodies to where you were connected in a delicious unmoving state.
“Shh, Shh Your Ok,” Rui crooned sweetly
Simple thrusts teasing your walls as the sticky substance - a relaxant? Or an aphrodisiac? You couldn’t tell – caused the tingly pleasure to burn pleasantly.
You bite down on his shoulder after one thrust almost sends you over the edge, drool dripping past your lips as you try so desperately to keep yourself from cumming.
You felt a warm, pleasant burn fill your pussy, leaving a delicious numbing sensation in your core. Rui’s arms wrapped around you, his body almost melting into you. His moaning almost desperately in your ear as the first egg pushes against your walls with sudden precision, before slipping into your womb with ease.
A moaning sob leaves your lips.
More pleasure builds up, skyrockets, as more eggs make their way inside of your womb pushing and rubbing against your sensitive walls as you sob with pleasure your grip tightening on Rui’s hair forehands still touching.
A babbling whine of praise falling past your lips, placing kisses on Rui’s face as with a gentle hand of his moves to where his eggs rest, massaging the tense skin as it stretched to accommodate more of his eggs.
Back arching as the stimulation of the eggs became too much, babbling with a blissed-out brokenness,
“Ah,Please,” You whimpered “Please, Please make me a mummy, Please, Please”
You continued even as you came, walls fluttering tightly as the final set of eggs were pushed into your womb as Rui with a final hard thrust covered your insides – and eggs – with cum, mutterings of praise and kisses being pressed against you.
“You’ll be a wonderful mother,” Rui finally coos a hand still resting against your tummy “A truly wonderful mother”
A tired and blissed-out look still coats your face, form clutching and pressed against Rui’s as you lift a hand to cover your tummy, to cover Rui’s hand that rests so nicely and coolly, with a last kiss you allow yourself to be lifted, allowed your lover to bring you back home.
Back home where you could have your family.
