chris’ afternoon had been going smoothly. he lightly plopped onto the living room couch, ready to relax for the next couple of hours.

you had left to work on some brand deals with your team, leaving him to tend with your two daughters.

luckily for him your youngest had dance practice so he would only have to pick her up in a couple of hours. And your eldest was in her room, finishing up her homework.

everything had been normal when she came home. she greeted chris as per usual and rambled on about her day, which chris always listened intently to. then she finished the snack chris had prepared for her before she came home. Finally she thanked her dad and went to her room.

so imagine chris’ confusion as to when he heard blood curdling screams coming from his daughter’s room.

mid movie, chris jumped up and ran upstairs. of course he didnt want to barge in so he hurriedly knocked.

“honey? you okay?” he asked with worry. he could hear the light sobs of your daughter through the door and swung it open.

“dad, can you call mom?” your daughter asked through broken sobs. chris of course whipped out his phone and without a thought dialed your number.

as he approached further he could see the light patch of blood on the girls bed and put two and two together.

chris was still trying to find the right words to comfort his daughter and unfortunately you weren’t answering.

“hey, theres no need to cry, here.” chris said has he jumbled up the sheets and placed them in the laundry basket.

“your mom told you all about this before right?” he asked as she nodded. “so why dont you go clean up and ill get of some ice cream?” your daughter wiped away her tears and smiled.

chris gave her a light peck on the head and went to go wash the sheets.

in the end your daughter calmed down with the help of your husband (and ice cream), and you were in for a story when you came back home.

matt:

matt’s experience was similar to chris’, except his daughter was way more calm about it.

it was just a regular weekend afternoon and you had gone to brunch with your friends, leaving matt and your daughter at the house.

matt and your daughter had decided to spend some time together. playing board games, eating food they baked, and watching some movies.

it was on their second movie when your daughter had gotten up to use the bathroom. matt had taken this opportunity to send you a few texts since your daughter had a strict ‘no phones when watching movies’ rules. he stopped texting when he heard a faint

“daaad..”

“yes..?” he answered a bit confused. but he got up anyways and made his way towards the bathroom

“do you know where mom keeps the pads?” his daughter asked and honestly, it took him a minute to process what was happening. of course he didnt want to freak her out even more.

“uh- yeah, theyre in the bin on the rack.” he said with a cough, dialing your number in the process. lets just say, you were speeding home to give your daughter some emotional support.

let me tell you a very funny (slightly embarrassing) story that happened last week!!

so i was helping the english department at my school clean out their big and very outdated literature study books bc im best friends with all of them duh

anyway . im casually oohing and aahing at every book i see and stealing whatever poetry book i can find that they dont want anymore

until i come across this small pocketsized book! its teal and the spine is cracked and from afar the big S on the cover and the teal colour makes it look like fucking. Shrek. so naturally i was like ???? A SHREK PLAY???

and so i picked it up bc a gal got curious!! and i look closer and it turns out to be Henry IV part 1! and bc i cant keep my big mouth shut i yelled "OH M GOD ISNT THIS THE TOM HIDDLESTON PLAY???" and the entire office went. Quiet.

And they all turned to look at me. mind you these are women who ARE in Tom's age range so they pretty much grew up with his work!!! and ofc they KNOW him its tom hiddleston. and one of them was like " the??? the tom hiddleston play??" and trying to save my dignity (not that im embarrassed but also kind of) i was like yeah ? didnt tom hiddleston play in this?? to try and keep myself casual like no what im not an obsessed fan hello im So Normal about him!! i could feel my face burst into fucking flames bc how do i explain to these women that im obsessed with his work while they look at me like they know I read fanfiction (like THEY DONT. THEY DO. I KNOW THEY DO. BC THEY ALWAYS MENTION IT.)

and so then. the entire fucking department spent the day picking up whatever stupid Shakespeare book they can find and saying really loudly IS THIS A TOM HIDDLESTON PLAY?? and i guess they ALL assume now the ONLY WAY I KNOW ANY ENGLISH LITERATURE is through Tom Hiddleston.

absolutely embarrassing. but i got to keep the book so WHATEVER.

but oh my god i think a part of my pride died that day. it was REALLY FUNNY but oh my god. no i DO know english literature i JUST HAPPEN TO KNOW THAT TOM HIDDLESTON PLAYED IN A FEW OF THEM!!! leave me ALONE.

i cannot believe i had to out myself like that. no actually i dont care but its the fact that these women KNOW the sort of stuff going on out there i am 90% sure some of them HAVE WRITTEN FANFICTION BEFORE and i had to sit there and act like i didnt just finish reading the most filthy panty melting smut of some tom hiddleston character. like hello. oh my god. it was funny but also horrifying.

The wheel ORIGINALLY chose angst but I didnt want to tear your soul more after yesterday's daily hobie hc so I spun again:)) Training was fun tho! Daily Hobie HC! Imagine if you have a 'secret' piercing and Hobie just one day notices it! (Doing a tongue piercing for this one cus why not) I bet it'll happen randomly. You wouldn't even be doing anything, perhaps you just licked your lips briefly and he noticed the flash of silver as you're both cuddled up to each other watching a movie. He'll try to be subtle about it at first, taking quick glances at your lips, curious if he'll possibly be able to figure out if it was truly a flash of silver, or if his mind was playing tricks on him. After around 20 minutes, he can't help himself but ask if you had a piercing, his eyes trained on your lips. To tease him further, you press your lips shut, shaking your head to try deny it. He can tell by your smirk that you're teasing him and lying to him. Hobie, deciding to play into your tease, pouts at you, distracting you as his arm slithers around your shoulders, his thumb trying to part your lips to no avail as you shake him off and bury your face into the crook of his neck. You can feel him chuckle silently, his hand resting on your back, spreading warmth along your spine as he presses sweet kisses to your temple, before his other hand latches onto your hips, dragging you down as his fingers immediately attack all the soft, ticklish spots on you, determined to get you to laugh. Once you do open your mouth, he gets his confirmation, slowly stopping to let you catch your breath. Hobie lays beside you on the couch, his arm wrapping around your middle and pulling you in, murmuring questions into your skin, as to how come he's never seen it before or felt it when you both would kiss. Either way, whatever your answers were to his question, he thinks you look absolutely breathtaking with it. Or, if you've got poofy/thick hair, if he's ever playing around with it and eventually digs deep enough to get a glimpse of your ear, with a few piercings that he never knew you even had. I feel like Hobie would be very intrigued by your 'secret' piercings, often asking questions as to when you got it, or how come he's never noticed in the first place. He makes sure to listen closely when you state when you got it, since he doesn't want to be the cause of it getting infected at any point. Once he discovers you have a certain piercing, like tongue, helix, septum, etc, his eyes are open for any cool jewelry he can snatch for you:) -🐦‍⬛

This one is quite obscure (and might be a reach) so I dont expect you to add it 😅 just thought I would share as a fun fact.

"Jeleń" means "a deer" and the song is about a girl who says she cannot apologise/make amends with a boy she was mocking even though she fancies him. Its not explicitly stated why she cant, she could be simply too proud or she could be feeling too guilty about the mocking and isn't sure if an apology will help at all.

It gives me strong 6th year jily vibes when Lily starts fancying James's bc she learns about his good side that she didnt notice before (or when James matures and changes his behaviour) but they are still not on good terms. There is also this once one sentence about a deer immediately followed with the girl's declaration of love /devotion for the boy.

i mean the devil all the time was def not safe either, and completely diff. idk most of his films outside the MCU came out 2020 and early 2021 the height of the pandemic so i feel like that didnt really help promotion but regardless his acting was certainly NOT a problem, if anything it stands out, cherry was not my fav movie but his acting was outstanding. hes def got the talent. (CW was not the best choice though)

And yea, even when the movie was lackluster, Tom's performance was never the problem. He always usually stands out to me in films.

I think that he took on a lot of roles while he was still green in the industry (CW, Uncharted, etc) and riding off of the Spider-Man casting high lol. 😂

Hi mod i dont know if you happened to hear deux new podcast(her voice is just no, so i dont blame you if you font). But she invite someone from backgrid and in general say that most of the celeb photos are not stage and no pr, the publicist dont call them and pap just happened to be in good place and good time or they are locals and they know they way around the city. Why in rome they were looking, at least aw straight into the camera, in such big turistic place a lot of people have cameras and took photos and they for sure could be in the background of some turist photo yet they somehow were able to find the pap? I have never actually seen the original movie, but this description makes me realize that the Adventures in Odyssey radio show’s version, “It’s A Pokenberry Christmas,” may be the most genuine homage in tone. It focuses on George Barkley and his family, who were longrunning characters in the show and then moved from Odyssey to a poorer town called Pokenberry Falls after George feels called to become a pastor. In this two-part Christmas special, George is at the end of his rope. The church is struggling, he’s feeling like a terrible father who cant provide for his children, he feels bitter that God had them move to this rougher town and has allowed things to get this hard for him and his family, and a banker is planning to buy the land the church is on and turn it into a golf course if George doesnt come up with the money for the church’s rent. Things keep going horribly when the guy who is the treasurer misplaces the money, and George is defeated and feels nothing he’s done has made any difference. His friend Eugene, who is visiting from Odyssey, is talking to him about it and George in frustration says, “I wish I’d never come to Pokenberry Falls - in fact I wish Id never become a pastor.”

Well, instead of an angelic being showing up, Eugene falls in the river and George jumps in to save him. When they both surface, the town has changed. He can’t find his family, the guy who was the church treasurer is homeless living in cardboard boxes, the church is gone and replaced with a golf course. Eugene acts the part of the angel, realizing before George that he got his wish and this is the town without him becoming a pastor and coming here. There is a really striking moment where George is protesting like, “This can’t be, we stopped that from happening,” and Eugene goes, “You werent here to save them!” I wish I could remember his next words exactly, but they are something along the lines of, “Our lives and our decisions have more impact on those around us than we know.”

Desperate to find his family, George goes to the library and is ripping through the phone book desperately looking for their name until he’s arrested for causing a scene. He finally gets in touch with Mr. Whittaker back in Osyssey, who is shocked to hear from him and has to explain that they havent heard from him because he left Odyssey, and that George (in this timeline) became so bitter that his family left him. The final blow is George learning that they never had Stuart, his third child they had after moving to Pokenberry. So George discovers that not only has the path God set him on helped many people around him, it also helped HIM from going down a much darker road.

I forget exactly how he comes to, but I think he is alone on the bridge where they fell in, begging God to forgive him and put things back how they were, and I think he and Eugene suddenly surface from the river, as if it had all happened while they were underwater. They go to his home, and George’s whole family is there, and the neighbors show up because they heard the family didnt have enough stuff for Christmas. The treasurer guy shows up and has found the check, and I THINK even the scroogy banker appears and has a change of heart. (It’s been a little while since I listened to this.)

George is overjoyed, not just because he found his family but because he understands now that his calling IS important, that God does have a purpose and is at work even when things are incredibly hard, and that the people around him really do care about him and his family and are grateful for them being there. His sacrifices and struggles weren’t for nothing - people’s lives were really being changed for the better because of the Barkleys.

It also ends with a funny riff on the whole “when a bell rings an angel gets his wings” line, where the little boy says it and some of the other start debating how that would work and which bells count and so on 😂

Anyway, I think from the sound of it that they did the best job of honoring the original spirit of the movie while making it their own story. The message that what we do does matter, even when we can’t see it, and that God does have a purpose and doesn’t abandon us when he allows us to go through difficult times, is important. To be honest, I dont ENJOY listening to this story for the same reason I’d have a hard time watching It’s A Wonderful Life: It’s very raw emotionally in some parts. But it’s an excellently written radio show, in my opinion.

Anyway, thanks for bringing up these great points about the original movie, and Merry Christmas!

Pop culture reduces It's a Wonderful Life to that last half hour, and thinks the whole thing is about this guy traveling to an alternate universe where he doesn't exist and a little girl saying, "Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings." A hokey, sugary fantasy. A light and fluffy story fit for Hallmark movies.

But this reading completely glosses over the fact that George Bailey is actively suicidal. He's not just standing there moping about, "My friends don't like me," like some characters do in shows that try to adapt this conceit to other settings. George's life has been destroyed. He's bankrupt and facing prison. The lifetime of struggle we've been watching for the last two hours has accomplished nothing but this crushing defeat, and he honestly believes that the best thing he can do is kill himself because he's worth more dead than alive. He would have thrown himself from a bridge had an actual angel from heaven not intervened at the last possible moment.

That's dark. The banker villain that pop culture reduces to a cartoon purposely drove a man to the brink of suicide, which only a miracle pulled him back from. And then George Bailey goes even deeper into despair. He not only believes that his future's not worth living, but that his past wasn't worth living. He thinks that every suffering he endured, every piece of good that he tried to do was not only pointless, but actively harmful, and he and the world would be better off if he had never existed at all.

This is the context that leads to the famed alternate universe of a million pastiches, and it's absolutely vital to understanding the world that George finds. It's there to specifically show him that his despondent views about his effect on the universe are wrong. His bum ear kept him from serving his country in the war--but the act that gave him that injury was what allowed his brother to grow up to become a war hero. His fight against Potter's domination of the town felt like useless tiny battles in a war that could never be won--but it turns out that even the act of fighting was enough to save the town from falling into hopeless slavery. He thought that if it weren't for him, his wife would have married Sam Wainwright and had a life of ease and luxury as a millionaire's wife, instead of suffering a painful life of penny-pinching with him. Finding out that she'd have been a spinster isn't, "Ha ha, she'd have been pathetic without you." It's showing him that she never loved Wainwright enough to marry him, and that George's existence didn't stop her from having a happier life, but saved her from having a sadder one. Everywhere he turns, he finds out that his existence wasn't a mistake, that his struggles and sufferings did accomplish something, that his painful existence wasn't a tragedy but a gift to the people around him.

Only when he realizes this does he get to come back home in wild joy over the gift of his existence. The scenes of hope and joy and love only exist because of the two hours of struggle and despair that came before. Even Zuzu's saccharine line about bells and angel wings exists, not as a sugary proverb, but as a climax to Clarence's story--showing that even George's despair had good effect, and that his newfound thankfulness for life causes not only earthly, but heavenly joy.

If this movie has light and hope, it's not because it exists in some fantasy world where everything is sunshine and rainbows, but because it fights tooth and nail to scrape every bit of hope it can from our all too dark and painful world. The light here exists, not because it ignores the dark, but because the dark makes light more precious and meaningful. The light exists in defiance of the dark, the hope in defiance of despair, and there is nothing saccharine about that. It's just about as realistic as it gets.

Oh nice! For me it started in college, just with how classes and stuff worked out, I spent most of my time alone and had to go out of my way to hang out with friends, and I started to enjoy some of that alone time, I like just vibing sometimes.

I don't game much these days, but I like a lot of the Nintendo stuff like Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, but also smaller series like TWEWY, Style Savvy, all sorts of games!

Dancing is so fun I love it a lot!!! Ooo those are really cool!!! I'm nowhere that good I just do it for fun, but I love seeing good dancers, it's so amazing to see all the things they do!!!
