So I had this idea of Connor meeting adĂ©wale who gets a sense of deja vu but canât pinpoint from whereand the two of them teaming up to find the son of adewaleâs friend and Connorâs father both not realizing that they are looking for the same person until they have a run in with haytham and adewale having a lot of things of Connor suddenly make sense with the reveal
So this would be a bit hard considering Shay killed AdĂ©walĂ© while RatonhnhakĂ©:ton was just a kid but we can fudge it a bit. They did talk a bit after Shay struck him down so we can make this a case of âhe almost died but he didnâtâ.
Letâs say one of AdĂ©walĂ©âs crewmembers survived and found him, dragging him out of danger and helping him survive.
During that time, AdĂ©walĂ© dreams of Edward Kenway, of the past they shared, the letters they sent to one anotherâŠ
When he wakes up, months have passed and he was still too weak that he could barely walk.
He had been transported to Port-au-Prince and being taken care of by his son, Babatunde JosĂšphe. His son tells him to rest and that theyâre trying to get in contact with the Colonial Assassins but with no luck. Messengers either return empty handed, talking about the danger and the heightened Templar presence, or they do not return at all.
The Templars had the colonies under their control and it was becoming too dangerous to try and infiltrate the colonies while Shay Cormac, the Assassin Hunter, is on the hunt.
AdĂ©walĂ© canât do anything but try to heal his weak body, his mind dwelling deeper and deeper into the darkness the more news they hear about what had happened to the Assassins in the colonies.
The Assassins Adéwalé knew.
By the time he was strong enough, the damage had been done and the Brotherhood were too busy in France and Britain. Their letters asking Achilles if he needed help only being met with silence.
But Adéwalé knew he needed to go back there.
No.
He needed to see Haytham Kenway.
And kill him.
Even if it was the last thing he did.
Haytham Kenway had destroyed what the Kenway stand for, what Edward had worked so hard to create.
As Edwardâs friendâŠ
As his only remaining friendâŠ
It was AdĂ©walĂ©âs duty to destroy the last remaining Kenway before more damage could be done.
His son tells him he was projecting his guilt and anger to someone else.
His grandson did not understand why he was leaving.
Adéwalé was part of the past and he was dragging Haytham Kenway with him if it was the last thing he would do.
So he returns to the colonies and meets up with Achilles.
Thatâs when he meets up with the young man learning under Achilles.
Ratonhnhaké:ton.
There was something about him that reminded AdĂ©walĂ© of Edward KenwayâŠ
So he took RatonhnhakĂ©:ton under his wings as well and Achilles didnât say anything. RatonhnhakĂ©:ton never told AdĂ©walĂ© about his father by name because Achilles had told him months before AdĂ©walĂ© had returned that he should keep it a secret.
Being known as Haytham Kenwayâs son would only put him in danger.
So Ratonhnhaké:ton kept quiet.
And they formed a bond with Adéwalé assisting him.
Where Achilles pushed for caution, Adéwalé supported any way he can.
Ratonhnhaké:ton was free, like Edward. It would only serve to push him away if they try to chain him down.
The best way to support Ratonhnhaké:ton was to help him.
And thenâŠ
That faithful winter dayâŠ
In an abandoned churchâŠ
Ratonhnhaké:ton and Adéwalé come face to face with the man they were both searching for.
#and this is where shit goes down#dun dun dun#haytham could easily break their bond#⊠or so he thinks#you know what would hurt haytham?#if adĂ©walĂ© says that ratonhnhakĂ©:ton is more of edwardâs kin that he would ever be#like haytham wouldnât react to it#but internally?#dude has one of the biggest daddy issues in the franchise#both as the daddy and as the son XD#assassin's creed#ratonhnhakĂ©:ton#connor kenway#haytham kenway#adewale#i'm not tagging shay since he only appear in the beginning#fic idea: assassin's creed#teecup writes/has a plot

fav part of gideon the ninth is for the first pre-canaan house chunk of the book, she's all "ugh I'm so normal surrounded by all these weirdo goth freaks when I blow this popsicle stand everyone will see how cool and normal and charming I am" and then she gets to canaan house and realizes that while she might have been a normie jock in the ninth house she is not exempt from being a goth weirdo who hides important doors behind tapestries and sneaks around in the dark so she doesn't have to talk to people. like we talk about her being a jock forced to be goth but nature v nurture babey she's not shedding that bone freak skin anytime soon
#gideon the ninth#and she realizes this its really funny#every time she does some ninth house shit shes like damn this is some ninth house shit :/#and then she does it anyway#i actually think its a cool piece of character work: gideon goes from seeing herself outside of/in opposition to the ninth house#in the beginning of the book#to feeling a part of/a soldier for the ninth house (and harrow specifically who gideon sees as the epitome of the ninth)#even during her brief backslide where she goes and talks shit with the eighth she can't really separate herself the way she could before#and when the chips are down and isaac and jeannemary are dead she wants two things: her longsword (a relic of aiglamene's training)#and harrow#so#yeah shes a jock but shes a goth weirdo freak jock#and shes a jock of the ninth#shut up anna

Wayne takes in a Beat to Shit Steve Harrington after Starcourt as n Owed Favor to Hopper Part 4
Part Three: link
First Chapter (parts 1-3 on tumblr) on A03: Link
The kid was madder than a wet hen.
Just as slippery as one too, when he got like this--music pulsing like a living thing to signal all his rage and upset.Â
Not like Wayne hadnât expected it.Â
He just wished it wasnât quite so damn loud.Â
The music had started up almost immediately after Eddie had stormed to his room, startling Steve awake and nearly making Wayne curse for it.
Normally it was a good thing--music meant Eds was willing to listen instead of heading for the hills. Â
Normally, they didn't have a house guest who looked like he'd gone ten rounds with a bear.
They had a routine for this, was the thing and the music was a key part of it. It worked all the edges off for Wayne, and he'd long figured out that about thirty minutes was a the perfect length of time for Eddie to stew before he could actually talk things through.
Given the hand Harrington put to his forehead, Wayne wasn't eager to give him that thirty minutes.
Not when Steve deserved little peace he could have.
Unfortunately, so did Eds.Â
Still.
Strutting through the door and demanding to talk right now was a bad move and so, with a sympathetic look given to Steve, Wayne did what he did best
Gave space.
Let Eddie rage, as Wayne got up and shuffled about the kitchen.
Pulled out the soft earplugs he pretended werenât there for Eds to steal (playing that damn loud guitar all the time could not be good for his ears) and offered them to Steve, before making two cups of what Wayne privately thought was the Munson âchitchatâ drink.Â
One cup of hot water, one packet swiss miss, a small amount of maple syrup drizzled in, topped with little marshmallows they reserved for these types of situations.Â
Wayne took his time with it, thinking through what he wanted to say.Â
âI understand that this is a screen door on a submarine kind of situation...âÂ
Nope.Â
âSon I know you hate listening to anyone for anything but this is serious...âÂ
Absolutely not--that would end up with the boy bolting for sure.Â
âEdâs, I love you but could we please turn Ozzy off while we talk? That man wails louder than any damn cat I have ever met.â
That one was purely self indulgent, mostly because the wall was starting to shake.Â
Wayne put the finishing touches on the cocoa before staring at both of them.Â
Perhaps if he stared the Garfield mug in its eyes hard enough, the right words would come through.Â
They did not.
He kept trying, standing there long enough for the cocoa to reasonably have cooled and for Eddieâs song to flip over to something with more screaming in it than singing.Â
Wayne supposed that this was the hardest part of being a parent. You just didnât get to have the magical one liner. The right thing to say at just the right time. Â
The joke that would ease all the tension and let things progress forward nice and easy.
Instead, you got to fumble your way through the dark with a flashlight up your ass and hope you were going in the right-ish direction. Ideally without making things worse.Â
Wayne was here though, and that had to count for something.Â
(Knew it counted for something--because Eddie was still here.Â
They had cleared hurdles far higher than this when it came to trust. Theyâd get through this too, come what may.Â
Steve too.)
âCan I just ask,â Eddie started, aggressive as always when Wayne finally gave in and entered his room, feeling all sorts of awful for the migraine Steve had to have, âwhat the absolute fuck is happening?âÂ
Sure as fire he was sitting on his bed, leg bouncing a mile a minute.
An unlit cigarette hung between two fingers, looking a little chewed on, but otherwise undisturbed--as it should be, because one of Wayneâs few rules was that smoke stayed outside the house.Â
âYou could.â Wayne said loudly but agreeably, as he turned himself around and dropped down next to his kid. Â
Held out the Garfield mug, and was happy when it was taken from him.Â
âFigured you might have other things to say, though.âÂ
Likely a lot of things.Â
It was as good an opening as any, and his kid didnât disappoint, launching right to it.Â
âWhy is he here and not at a hospital?â
âHereâ was punctuated by Edâs hand winging towards the door, and while it wasnât the righteous fury Wayne expected, it was at least, an easy answer to give.Â
âSteve has some people looking for him. Bad people. Hospital makes him an easy target.âÂ
Wayne was still talking loud. Could only hear Eddie himself because he was looking at the kidâs lips more than he was actually hearing his voice.Â
Eddie took that in, swallowing it about as well as heâd swallowed anything he hadnât liked.Â
And thank the stars above, he finally reached a hand out and turned the music down. Not a lot--Steve wouldnât be able to hear them over all this--but enough that Wayne didnât have to struggle.Â
âWeâre hiding him from the cops now?!â Edâs spat.Â
âCops know heâs here. Hopperâs the one who asked me to take him.â Wayne reminded him, because it was the truth.Â
Not the full truth, but given how Edâs pissed off half the local PD on a good day, Wayne absolutely did not want to see his nephew take on Federal Agents.
(Particularly not the kind who were going âround killing kids.)Â
âSo--what?â Eddie yanked hard on his hair, a gesture that looked less intentional and more like he was trying to fight his own anger down. âHopper just called you up and said âHey, we had a whoopsie with the rich kid, the hospitalâs not safe anymore. Can we stash him with you for a few days?âÂ
Wayne nodded once, slow-like.Â
Always remembered how too fast movements had made Eddie flinch and jerk back when was littler, and given the way Steve was looking, figured it was a good time to be cautious again.Â
âHe did.â
âAnd you just--agreed? Just like that!?âÂ
âI did.âÂ
He pretended not to see Eddie boggle at him at the simple admission, so furious that he seemed to struggle for words when he normally had too many to say.Â
Wayne took advantage.Â
âWe did talk a bit more than that, Iâll admit.â
Edâs scoffed. âAbout the weather Iâm sure.âÂ
ââBout trust.âÂ
Eddie blinked at that.Â
âTrust.â He echoed flatly.Â
âWhat have I always told you? People like to ask you to trust them, but you they donât get to have it until--âÂ
âThey provide proof or a reason.â Eddie finished with an eyeroll. âSo which did Hopper provide then?â
Wayne took a noisy sip of his coca. Smacked his lips a little before saying: âBoth.âÂ
Didnât bother to say anything else, because he knew Eddie would finish the thought for him.Â
âOne of them was me, wasnât it.âÂ
Eds didnât say it like a question, but Wayne hummed in agreement anyway.Â
He wasnât gonna shame his boy, but he wasnât gonna sugar coat Eddieâs involvement in this either. Not when heâd already admitted that was half the reason Hopper had gone to Wayne to begin with.Â
âNo one is expecting Steve to be here.â He said, seeing the chance to hammer home the most important part of this entire shitshow. âSo long as no one finds out heâs here, heâll be safe. Everyone will be safe.âÂ
Steve from the Feds who were hunting him for while he was busy being involved in shit he couldnât control and Eddie because he had a mouth that most people didnât like.Â
Not small town people anyway, and absolutely not authority figures with guns.Â
âWhoâs even after him?â Eddie was theatrical as always, hands waving away as he talked. âDid he make a deal with the mob? Piss off some other rich guy? I know itâs not anything drug related, Iâd have heard about it by now.âÂ
After years of experience, Wayne knew exactly how far to lean away to stay out of range, too used to his nephew talking with his entire body.
âThatâs his story to tell ya, Edâs. It ainât mine. Same way it ainât my place to tell him your story.âÂ
That at least got the boy to think for a minute. Put down that frustration he carried with him all the time, and use the brain they both knew he had.Â
âHow long is he staying here?â
Wayne shrugged. âDonât know.âÂ
Eddie sighed and mockingly mimicked Wayne, taking an obnoxious slurp of his cocoa. âThe neighbors are going to notice if heâs here more than a few days. The trailer park isnât exactly big.âÂ
âThey didnât notice that time you decided to make fireballs with the cooking spray and about blew up half the driveway. Donât think theyâre gonna notice someone being quiet in the house.âÂ
Eddie snorted, and probably rolled his eyes again, not that Wayne could see it given the kid was looking into his own mug as he thought it all through.Â
Wayne sat with him as he processed.Â
Eds worked at his own pace with things, and while life at large might be against that, Wayne was happy to let him do it. Found it easier that way, then trying to poke and prod and force him like so many father figures did.Â
Wayneâs patience was rewarded not even a full minute later, when Eddie turned to him and asked;Â
âWhat if he finds out?â Â
This in a quieter voice. An unsure one--words and body hunching in a way unlike the Eddie the world outside knew, but very much like the little boy Wayne had brought inside his home.Â
It took Wayne a moment to connect the dots--heâd been speaking out of the place parents and authority figures often do, and in doing so hadnât thought much of the fact his nephew had a real secret.Â
The kind small town minds didnât like--and would kill him over.Â
This all wasnât about Wayne taking in Steve, he realized abruptly. It was that Steve being here meant Eddie couldnât be himself.Â
Could not relax in a place he was accepted for who he was, because Wayne knew and made sure Eddie understood he was wanted here, had a place here, regardless of who he loved.Â
Now, Wayne had gone and removed it.
âShit.âÂ
âHe wonât.â Wayne said.Â
Knew that wasnât enough, and so, promised: âBut if he does, Iâll make sure he understands his safety here relies on your own.âÂ
Edâs chin jerked in a nod, the two of them sitting in silence for a moment before the boy did as he often did when he wanted a hug but felt too awkward to ask for one, and tipped himself into Wayneâs side.Â
âThanks old man.â Eddie whispered into his shoulder and not for the first time, Wayne wished things were easier for the poor kid as he put his mug in one hand and hugged his kid with the other.Â
Hoped that in the future, it would be.
Even if he had to force everyone and everything coming after him--and now Steve--to do it.
(Wondered vaguely, how bad it was that he was already getting as protective as Steve as he was of his own kid.
Probably very, given his kid clearly hated Harrington.)
xXx
Wayne took the first night of Steveâs stay off.
He wasnât the type to use his PTO lightly. Was used to rationing it for any possible thing Eddie might need him for.
A night up sick when he was younger, to a night spent chasing him down during some of their bad spots--but the last year or so Wayne had slowly realized he hadnât had to use it much.
He was still careful with it though, precious as it was, and was thankful for it now as it ensured his nephew didnât murder their house guest.Â
Or at the very least, didn't sit there pecking at him.
The kid might've failed English a few times, but he had a real gift with words and an even better one with insults.
(Wayne wasn't quite clear on what all the "King" jabs were about, and absolutely did not get why Steve looked far more hurt at the comment about his "sad ass floppy hair" but given the increasingly flat look Steve was throwing Eddie's way, Wayne figured it couldn't be anything good.)
Thankfully a pointed reminder about Steve's injuries had finally gotten them all some peace, enough for Harrington to drop back to sleep--and for Wayne to realize he looked a little too dead while he did it to be comfortable getting any sleep himself.
The kids chest barely moved, and that it ate at Wayneâs until he got up and shoved a hand under his nose.Â
Felt his breath, and told himself the poor sod was fine.Â
Hurt, absolutely, but alive.Â
Over and over again, until the sun had made its rotation in the sky, bringing the morning with it.
âBetter than nightmares, I suppose.â Wayne figured, as exhaustion scraped at his eyelids.
Those Wayne knew, would come later. When Steveâs brain caught up to the rest of him, and stopping dumping survival chemicals through his battered body.Â
He'd given up on sleep entirely sometime around 1 am, and now he sat at his small kitchen table, writing out a medication schedule for Harrington so he and the kid both knew when he could have his next Tylenol.Â
Wasnât even halfway through it before Eddie made his typically late appearance and blew through his door.Â
Had his back up from the moment heâd stepped a foot in the kitchen and it didnât take a genius to see heâd worked himself into a snit again.
Unfortunately for him, whatever scenario that imaginative brain of his had cooked up fell flat to the reality that was the poor kid on the couch.Â
Steve Harrington was one a hell of a sight.
Didnât help that he was doing his level best to make himself as small as possible, curled deep into Wayne's ancient couch.
The blankets covered the ribs and hid away most of the damage, but there wasnât much Steve could do to hide the shiners on his face--or the marks around his neck. Â
Not when theyâd grown worse overnight, practically inviting questions.
It was almost laughable how quickly Eddie ate whatever words heâd prepared, mouth awkwardly chewing around them as if they were tangible.Â
The less-than-sneaky looks he threw at the younger teen were equally amusing, and if Wayne wasnât trying to peace keep, heâd have given in and chuckled when Eds split attention caused him to pour half his coffee into the sink rather than a cup.Â
Looked utterly lost when, after finishing putting his coffee together and grabbing some junk food thing that absolutely was not a breakfast item, he came to stand awkwardly at Wayne's shoulder, openly staring as Steve blatantly ignored him.
Eds didnât know what to do, and Wayne couldn't blame him.Â
Seemed to keep thinking he was going to encounter a boy that likely no longer existed, and whose blood tinged specter just made things sad.
Shit like this, Wayne knew, took a manâs ego and warped it, shaping it to something else entirely.Â
At least for Steve, it seemed that getting wrapped up in whatever mess he had had shaped him for the better, instead of pretzeling him into something worse. That, Wayne thought, spoke to the boy's character more than anything heâd done prior.Â
(It helped to know what Hopper tolerated and what he didnât. That heâd vouched for Steve in the same way Wayne knew heâd vouched for Eddie, even if Eddie didnât yet realize the cop he antagonized so much would do that for him.)Â
That didn't erase the history his kid had with Harrington, though.
Wouldn't stop him from seeing the old Steve, first.
âDonât you got school?â Wayne asked when he decided Ed had stared enough.Â
âYeah, yeah.â Eddie waved him off, trotting out the door. âBye old man, house parasite!âÂ
It was clearly a jab, meant to nettle, but Steve barely acted like he heard it.Â
Wayne rolled his eyes.Â
âGoodbye, Eds.â He said firmly, much of a warning as he ever gave, and fondly watched his nephew scuttle out the door.Â
Turned to see how Steve was taking things, and was once again given a reminder that Steve wasnât doing a hell of a lot other than feeling his injuries.Â
âI think I promised you a game, son.â Wayne said gently, startling Steve out of the distant, dim look he had trained on the wall.Â
It wasnât a lot to offer in terms of a distraction, but it would have to do.

â even the gods bleed [ pt 4 ]
{â} characters arlecchino, furina, lyney {â} notes cult au, imposter au, multi-chapter, gender neutral reader {â} warnings blood {â} word count 3.7k {â} previous [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
Fontaine was bathed in darkness, not even the moon daring to illuminate where the common man fears to walk. The streets were bleak and empty save for the constant, rhythmic ticking and clanking of machines marching on endlessly, dauntlessly wading where even the bravest dared not to venture. Not even the sharp click of the Gardes boots followed the occasional hisses of steam as they walked the barren streets.
It was haunting, and it'd been like that for days now. It showed little signs of stalling in the slightest, too. Every inch of Fontaine was practically crawling with Gardemeksâ like a swarm of rats skittering about.
Arlecchino had secluded herself in the Hotel Bouffes d'ete for days at this point, waitingâ biding her time. Her nails clicked against the wood as she tapped at the table in a stilted rhythm, the subtle click of the clock mixing into the clanking outside, weaving in and out of earshot as the patrols slipped by. She reached forward after a moment of thought, reaching for the white king.
She leaned back against the chaise, tilting her head just enough to catch a glimpse of a patrol of Gardemeks as they vanished behind the rows and rows of buildings. It wasn't enough to keep her attention for long, however, her features twisting in disinterest as she glanced back to the chessboardâ and the letter neatly resting beside it. The seal was unmistakable and a sobering sight, demanding her attentionâ the soft hues of blue etched into the shape of a dragon stared back at her in a way that almost unsettled her.
She had already parsed through it's contents hundreds of times, but she was met with only vague, flowing script that only served to irritate her more then anythingâ it filled the page top to bottom yet managed to say nothing at all. Her hand reached out again, but instead of reaching for the letter she plucked the black rook from the board, setting it down with a soft click.
Arlecchino had all the time in the world to sit back and observe her prey, but all that time would be useless if she lacked the information to act.
And he was quite tight fisted about it, evidentially. None of her inquiries or attempts to decipher any potential codes in the letter left her empty handed. She could not act without even knowing the reason for his summonsâ it was almost worded like a personal affair rather then one would expect for a foreign diplomat. In truth, she'd expected a scalding report on her operatives, but it lacked any mention of anything of the sort.
She was no stranger to people masking hostility behind pretty words and compliments, not that it was ever unwarranted per seâ the Fatui did not create connections through honesty and genuine kindness. They have strong armed more then their fair share of people into cooperation to the point distrust is all the Fatui are met with outside of Snezhnaya. Every word was meant to conceal the deceit, every action meant to conceal the price later paid.
So she had been..skeptical of the letter, to put it lightly. She doubted the Iudex of all people would offer a hand to the Fatui without a price attachedâ a trap, perhaps, meant to lure in the most powerful piece left on the board. Her eyes narrowed, reaching for a white rook and moving it to the right.
Or he was hiding something. Something that he simply couldn't risk getting out to anyone, not even the Divine themself. A tempting prize, whatever it was.
..A dangerous prize, too.
She'd considered burning the letter and forgetting it all togetherâ the risk was great, and she couldn't risk getting caught up by whoever else the Iudex may have on his side of the board. But she could hardly pass up the challenge and the prize that he fought so hard to keep from prying eyes and ears. Even her agents came back empty handed each time. She lazily picked up a black rook, sliding the white pawn aside.
"Lyney," Arlecchino drawled, crossing one leg over the other and turning her gaze to the door as it slowly creaked open. The pale visage of Lyney stepped through, though his siblings were noticeably absent. The weariness that weighed down on his shoulders was apparent in the slightest furrow of his brows and the subtle creak of leather as he clenched his fists behind his back. "Father." He choked out, the title dragged out by the sharp inhale and shaky exhale.
He looked out of breath, she noted.
The silence that lingered after the small exchange was punctuated only by the click of another chess piece being moved. She sets aside the black rook, letting it sit among the dozen other pieces that had been wiped off the board. She can see the conviction glinting beneath the fog of exhaustion, but if he would utilize it was another matter all together.
He had seemed to make his choice quickly, at the very least.
"Our contacts and operatives within the Fortress of Meropide have gone silentâ all we have is their final confirmed missive.." His voice is confident, but it is rigid as the words spill from his lips. He takes a sharp step forward, unfolding his arms from behind his back and opening his handsâ the small, water stained and messily folded note catches her eye, plucking it from his palms with a half hearted interest. "They believe the Duke left the Fortress of Meropide..and that he may be coming to the Court of Fontaine."
Her eyes narrow dangerously, nearly crumpling the thin paper in her handsâ yet just as quickly, she collects herself.
But she cannot get rid of the bitter taste on her tongue, lingering as she sets down the note and slides it to the side, her lips pursed into a thin line.
So the Iudex had shown one of his pieces..she tightly grasps a black rook, tipping over the white rook, letting it roll against the board.
If the Duke was involved, things were much more complicated then she expectedâ he would be a problem, she was certain. She couldn't blame the lamb for fearing the wolf, either. Whether her agents had been killed or captured by the man mattered little. He had his ways, and he was a force that could instill fear in even them.
Which meant the possibility that her operation was already compromised was far too real.
What had the Iudex so concerned he had gone through the trouble of bringing in the Duke and herself? The Fatui was one thing, but to specifically request one of it's Harbingers..
The Prophecy? The thought had her clenching her fist, but..no. If it were to rear it's head now, the Iudex could simply not afford to waste time on his contacts deciphering his nonsensical scriptâ If the prophecy were to be the issue, there time would be limited to mere minutes in the worst of cases. Which meant it was worth biding his time in order to ensure absolute secrecy.
So if not the prophecy, then what?
Her next moves were..limited. She was already walking on eggshells considering her position and the reputations of the Fatuiâ especially with a Harbinger in the midst. If they caught wind of her operations, they'd weed out her operatives and be on guards for any snakes that lingered in their garden.
She reached for the chessboard again, picking up one of the white rooks from the board with a scowl. The sharp click as she sets down the white rook and sets aside the black pawn draws a shaky inhale from Lyney as she moves another black pawn, the dull click of the pieces drowning out the distant clinking of machines.
..A draw, perhaps.
The pieces were all falling into placeâ the players of this game were slowly being revealed. Whether she could secure her victory..she was unsure.
She wasn't even sure who her opponent was. Only that the Iudex himself was but another piece in their game.
Arlecchino reached for the board again, yet this time she hesitated. Perhaps she could still swipe the win from beneath them, if she played her cards right.
She would simply have to capture the kingâ or, if need be, let it end on a draw. Either way, she would not concede. She could not afford to concede. Down to the last piece, she would drag out this match until she was in a position to force their hand into the outcome she desired.
She stood slowly, picking up the king piece and observing it for only the briefest of moments before she set it down on the table, taking measured steps around the table and across the room. She was hunting a much more dangerous quarry todayâ it would be no simple runaway traitor this time.
"Do you remember the directive?" She inquired coldly, her hand lingering on the door for that long, tense moment. "..Yes, Father." Lyney faltered, taking a hesitant step back and bowing at the waist. "Then do not stray."
All that was left was the silence and click of the door shutting behind her as she disappeared down the hall, her boots clicking harshly against the floorboards. The rest of the agents knew better then to linger in her path as she stepped down into the lobby, adjusting the cuffs of her sleeves. She barely even acknowledged the Fatui agent standing at the ready by the heavyset doors, their gloves hands held out with her cloak held loosely in their palms. She quickly snagged it from them, tugging it over her board shoulders and clasping it around her throat.
With a quick tug, she brought the hood up over her head to conceal her sharp features, lifting her hand and placing a neatly folded note within their waiting hands. She had only one chance to make the right moves and secure her victoryâ no matter the cost.
Each piece had it's purpose.
Oft, that purpose was a bloody and horrible endâ but for the grand goal of the Fatui built on the backs of the dead, it was an honor.
She didn't bother speaking a word as she dismissed them with a wave of her hand, pushing open the heavyset doors and stepping out into the barren, damp streets. The rhythmic clink and whir of Gardemeks was still distantâ she needed to move. Her boots clicked and splashed in the rain soaked stone of the streets as she slithered between the buildings, ducking through the openings in the patrols.
It was almost too easy.
She tilted her head back, taking in the towering Palais Mermonia with a scowl, her hands clenched into fists. The final moves were being playedâ the king was within her reach, yet she felt no more confident then when she began.
The air carried a sense of unease, thick and heavy, filling her lungs until she felt her breath still in her chestâ listening to the empty, bleak night that seemed so..quiet.
She'd done her fair share of research, had more then her fair share of her agents try to peer into the Iudex's office or the Archon's supposedly hidden chambers, but every attempt was a failure. She had to give them credit, they were quite elusive when they wished to be. Though now she only thought about it bitterlyâ this was all a risky gamble, in the end, and only time would tell if it paid off.
With minimal effort, she'd managed to pull herself to the flat, tiled roof, eyeing the massive tower peaking out of the center cautiously. At least here the wandering patrols down below weren't likely to notice her..she could hear them passing by the spot she'd been in only a few minutes ago, just beneath her. She pulled the hood further over her face, peering through the sheer darkness of the night for any oddities, but it was almost impossible to see in the dark.
Her boots clicked softly against the tiles as she approached the tower jutting out from the Palais, her hand gliding along the smooth stone, pressing against odd indents or crevices. If it was for the Archon's chambers, she doubted they made it very difficultâ she'd only met the woman once, but she doubted the Iudex make it all that complex just from a brief glance. And it surprised her little when one of the stones sunk into the wall, gears whirring as the walls split open to reveal a stairwell straight into an inky black hall. Only the barest hint of light peaked under the door at the bottom, but it's occupants must have heard her, considering it went out not a moment later.
She cautiously stepped down into the small crevice, her breath visible in the bitter cold airâ her shoulders tensed at the subtle sound of muffled footsteps behind the door, her vision flaring with a molten heat between her shoulder blades as she reached for the worn handle of the door. The heat of her vision was enough to just barely heat the metal, her vision flaring like a quickly building inferno.
Arlecchino was prepared for a fight, if it came down to it.
The door creaked as she pressed against it, shoving it open with a grunt of effort and surveying the room with narrowed eyes and a biting remark on the tip of her tongueâ the lavish opulence was expected, she supposed, but the lack of the towering figure of the Iudex was not.
Yet before she could get a word in or even take in her surroundings properly, the light flickered back on and she had to squeeze her eyes shut with a hiss at the sudden brightness. She could hear the door being shoved closed behind her, the hurried footsteps retreating just as quickly as her eyes adjusted to the light.
..This was a joke, wasn't it? It had to be.
She'd expected the Iudex, perhaps even the Duke if she'd been unlucky, not the Hydro Archon. She had half the mind to test her worth as an Archon then and there, her temper flaring like an uncontrollable blaze, barely kept at bay. It took all her self control to force herself to smile politely at the woman rather then snarl.
"Miss Furina," She sneered beneath her hood, x shaped pupils locked onto the startled, trembling Archon with thinly veiled contempt. "What a..pleasant surprise. You'll have to forgive my manners, I assumed I was meeting with the Iudex." She observed her body language carefullyâ the way her eyes darted about like a frightened rabbit seeking escape, the slightest tremble of her lips..
Arlecchino opened her mouth to offer another scathing remark, but her jaw audibly clicked shut as her entire body seemed to lock up. Even her vision went cold against her back, a chilling feeling creeping up her spine as someone, or something, crept up behind her. Their footsteps were almost silent, the slight rustling of their clothes the only thing she could hear over her heart pounding against her ribcage.
Arlecchino had always prided herself on being on the other end of that sensationâ she was the monster, and her target was the prey frozen like a deer between the hunters crosshair.
It was a chilling feeling to have the dynamic shifted on it's head.
She couldn't even swallow, her jaw clenched so hard she could hear it creak as she tried to reason with her quickly splintering mindâ a futile effort, her joints locking up almost painfully. Black spots were quickly swallowing her vision from the lack of air in her lungs, the sound of shuffling behind her barely audible over the ringing in her ears.
For a moment â a moment too long to have only lasted the seconds that it did, yet so quick it gave her whiplash â she thought she would hit the floor dead before she could even glimpse her assailant.
And then it was gone. She came crashing back into reality with a startled inhale, her lungs burning and her knees nearly buckling under her. The instinct to lash out and kill whoever had done it was intense, yet she couldn't bring herself to move even a fingerâ it would be so easy to twist around and ignite them with searing flames, but her feet were rooted in place.
She almost didn't notice the surprisingly gentle hands unclasping her cloak, tugging it off her shoulders, if not for the sheer intensity of the presence still lingering behind her. Her mind was still fractured, struggling to right itself after the ordeal, and it had her seething.
"..Are you certain you held back enough?" Furina croaked, the normally soft lilt raspy and almost hoarse. "Notâ not that I doubt your capability, most Divine!"
Arlecchino felt her nails dig harshly into her palms, heat swelling beneath her skinâ Divine? Had she lost her mind? The Divine was..
The Divine was upon their throne where they belonged. She'd seen them!
"Hm. Well, maybe? Sorry, I didn't think it'd affect you too." Their voice was sickeningly soft as they stepped around her like she wasn't even there, focusing their attention on the Archon who seemed more then delighted about it. "What gave you that impression, most Divine? Aha, I..was completely unaffected, as you can see! Perfectly fine."
Furina let out a small squeak when they pinched her cheek, but the almost affectionate smile that tugged at their lips revealed the lack of malice behind the action.
"You're a bad liar, Furina. You might want to sit down..please?" They didn't take her protests for an answer, gently pushing her to sit on the bed before abruptly turning to face Arlecchino once more, a forced smile on their lips. "Oh, good, you're..uh, not dead. That's good. I thought I fried your brain. Sorry?"
..Had she hit her head on the way here? The Divine should still be on their throne, yet she couldn't shake the weight of their stareâ it felt tangible. She felt like she was standing face to face with the starsâ galaxies and constellations bearing down upon her.
She grit her teeth and clenched her hands until she felt the sting of her nails against her palms, grounding herself in the pain through the sheer overwhelming nature of their existence.
"You.." She croaks, reaching out with a shaky hand and grabbing them by the collar of their shirt, lifting them up until their feet left the floorâ she pays no mind to the startled protests of the Archon. Arlecchino would crush her like a bug before she even got the chance to intervene and they both knew it. "You shouldn't existâ you aren't them, and yet you..you're the imposter, aren't you?" Her grip tightens yet they face her without an ounce of fear, meeting her unyielding glare with a pondering look.
Arlecchino wanted to make them bleed just to see if she could, the urge to sink her teeth into skin welling up in her chest to the point she visibly snarled, her mask of politeness long . "You're the imposter." Her expression falls for a moment before she schools it into one of apathy, setting them back down and holding them there for a moment, finally releasing them after a tense moment. "Or you were supposed to be."
Hers brows furrowâ she wants to demand answers, to throttle them for damning them to being nothing more then dolls for the supposed Divine to break at their whim, but none of the words come to her.
"..Why now? The current Divine has been in power for years, yet you descend now?" Her shoulders tensed, lips pursed into a thin lineâ it's impossible to ignore the truth that lay before her. The Divine is a fraud and this..imposter is the true Divine. How many years had they been in power, now? How many years were they waiting? Why did they wait? Was the suffering of Teyvat not enough? Was the blood that painted the steps of their stolen throne not enough?
She'd personally been on the wrong end of the Divine's wrathâ she wonders..had they watched? Had they seen the cruel hand of their imposter and turned their back on Teyvat?
"I.." They hesitated. It made her seethe, her hands clenching into fists at her sidesâ her vision flickered, flames swelling within it's casing just to be smothered by the presence of the Divine. But once that spark had been lit, she refused to let it go out. "I didn't know."
The answer does not satisfy her. There is an itch beneath her skin that she cannot scratch, a fire that burns in her chest so hot it scorches even herself.
"And what about now? Are you content to cower like prey in the safety of the Palais Mermonia?" She snapped, taking a step forward, her brows furrowed and her glare intenseâ she can see the slightest bit of worry in their eyes. She revels in it. "Will you let them use your acolytes like pawns? How many more need to be broken on the steps to your throne before you act?"
Again, her vision flares and dimsâ it refuses to be used against the Divine that created it.
"Have you no answer?"
The room is silent. They do not speak and neither does she.
Even the world itself seems to quiet in the face of her accusations, fury boiling to the surface so hot it incinerated all it touched.
"I will kill them myself."
Their words are quiet, but they are not softâ there is a vindictive, searing anger that explodes out like dying stars within their eyes. The sight of constellations replaced by a void that would not be . The smell of ichor grows strongerâ to the point she feels almost lightheaded.
"..I am aware that I have failed in preventing this, but I had no choice in the matter. Still," They muse, their voice like the tolling of bells. A solemn melody that stills the swelling fury burning in her chest, if only for a moment. "I will rectify itâ I will tear down their throne of lies and let not even the earth tarnish itself by burying their corpse among it's soil."
They pause for a moment, holding out their handâ scarred and bandaged by the weapons of the devout, yet still they take upon the burden of dirtying their hands to save those who did not save them.
"Do you trust me, Arlecchino?"
Did she?
"Will you help me?"
She exhales heavily, meeting the starry iris' of the Divine with a scowl still tugging at her lips. Arlecchino trusted no one but herself.
"..Yes."

yall are about to piss me off by not having any PASSING basic knowledge of the way the u.s. military manipulates its recruits into joining by typing up one of your uninformed, unresearched, unempathetic, individualistic, unbelievably annoying posts about how 100% of the people in the military ended up there because they just Love America So Damn Much! they're extremely mature and informed at time of recruitment, they can totally leave anytime they want, they totally had tons of other avenues in life they could've taken, there was no rush at all to get income as fast as possible, and everyone in the military also totally is part of the combat divisions and personally enjoys being IN the military very much, big believers of violence. everyone in the military is shooting guns all day, that's how that works. they LOVE BLOODSHED. also I love the "amewicans haha" twang to this type of shit because you're actually TOTALLY stealing our Thing, which is turning systemic issues into Individual Issues. Instead of talking about the powers that be, it's so Personal Choice up in here. It's, "well you shouldn't have done it then. I totally wouldn't because I know better." you don't wanna talk about the military industrial complex as a whole, and you don't want to talk about recruiters, you just want to pin the blame on Specific Individual People one-by-one, as if they're responsible for the system that they're being ground up in. someone was in the military? bad person, no matter what. it's easier to believe that, I guess, than to acknowledge that Normal People (with high school educations) are manipulated and incentivized into joining a system that is Bad. at like age 18. but yeah no that 18 year old should have just been smarter lol haha anyway here are some screenshots for no particular reason
side note this reply of someone going "umm just get loans and go into a high paying field it's easy XD" as a direct response to someone trying to explain how most americans joining the military are being funneled in that direction out of a need for money.
and another person who Decided that americans join the military just CLENCHING their teeth thinking of other people, and not thinking completely selfishly about their own selves and their own income/housing/healthcare.
#I had a longer post w more bullshit in it but ukw nobody's even gonna read THIS one. so.#dumb ass cunts seriously LMAO just the individualism of it all....#we're all just selectively forgetting that most people join the military straight out of high school / after failing to kickstart#their lives so they don't know shit yet and they are categorically not educated and don't have money#you NEED money and have been groomed by recruiters ALREADY into believing this is#The Best and Only to make a survivable amount of money without a college education-- bc they can't afford college btw#and they don't want to take on student debt either bc everyone already knows what a big fuckeroo that is#recruiters WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET YOU TO JOIN. they will KEEP CALLING YOU. they'll answer your questions#to make it sound like this is going to be a GREAT life decision. you can get all KINDS of jobs (true)#they love to say the thing about how only about 15% of the military will actually see combat in any way#they love to list all the jobs where you will literally just be working at an office or a pharmacy or in tech etc etc etc#the recruiters are offering housing healthcare steady pay and BONUSES if you sign on for longer.#so you let your guard down because you were so scared of the actual fighting. BECAUSE YOU'RE 18 IN THIS SCENARIO BTW.#you cunts will not meet anyone who hates the military as much as people who are NOW DONE working in the military#you don't know enough when they get you and then either you stay placated by the benefits or you scramble away as fast as possible#the number one military haters are people who know what goes on bc they already did it#source: I LIVE NEXT TO A MILITARY BASE LMAO PEOPLE HATE IT HERE!! they are NORMAL PEOPLE#I need you to get it into your head that the people committing atrocities in war were NORMAL when they joined#and that for every person in the military who's actively shedding blood there's 20 who do PAPERWORK#and they both are being put in the same category by you!! and they are BOTH being controlled by the same system!!#sergle.txt#I hate yall I really do.

WAIT WAIT WAIT CHERIK MPREG IS CANON
i cannot stress enough how canon cherik mpreg is, yes my friend
#snap chats#i could elaborate in the main body but i cant distract from the epic statement 'cherik mpreg is canon'#ill elaborate down here tho LOL. not extensively Just Enough to provide context#anyways 90's run where erik's on his bullshit as per usual and at some point rips the adamantium out of logan's body#which causes charles to . how do you even describe what happens Like He Invades Erik's Mind To Get Him To Cut That Shit#cause this was just The Final Straw at that point#but the problem is while charles is in erik's mind. And I Quote. Paraphrase Whatever Its Been A Minute#'something implants itself within charles' and onslaught just kinda festers in the back of charles' mind for a while#and onslaught is basically just. every evil/dark/wrong thought charles has ever had + erik's rage and 'lust for power'#my exact memory of events gets hazy here but im p sure charles abandons his body for a bit which enables onslaught to take over#aaaand yeah we have that thing running around now. kinda. we made a pocket dimension to escape it.#onslaught returns in krakoa after being implanted in a mutant named lost#and onslaught would feed off the lost time in-between resurrections#like say you die monday and get brought back wednesday- all of tuesday goes to feeding onslaught#he doesnt actually Show Up show up for most of it hes more of a looming presence which i fw#and then he tries to get everyone to kill each other at the gala while making charles delete back-up data#onslaught does physically appear by the end of onslaught revelation once charles snaps out of the mind control at the gala#and erik's checking on him and Im Pretty Sure just by virtue of them being next to eachother onslaught manifests#cute shit really !!!!! but yeah thats a very VERY quick (and prob a lil wrong) rundown of onslaught's premise

sure, Akemi holding a grudge against Mizu even after Mizu tries to bury the hatchet is harsh. but also from Akemi's POV here's a random young dude who seduced her fiancee, ruined any hope she had for a happy life, bullied her at a brothel, gave her a lecture on how to be a woman, kept her prisoner at the aforementioned brothel, and then refused to kill a couple of guys trying to kidnap her after he just mowed down a small army
#AND THEN tries to convince her TO GO BACK TO HER STRAYING FIANCEE. like pls#cant describe the elation i felt when i realized they would both be at a brothel at some point. you know that's where shit goes down#no explanations no reasoning just an asshole beating her at her own game (figuring out motivations and desires)#bes liveblog

getting mad at a 7 year old video essay for misinterpreting a character i love and also for displaying a fundamental misunderstanding of that character's politics and place in the world
#this guy is saying that because hancock has anarchist tendencies that hes okay with theft from innocent farmers and shit#which is literally not true at all????#he actively protects vulnerable people and his affinity with you goes down when you steal#he keeps implying that hancock doesn't understand that full-on anarchy can be bad#because he had ONE line where he said he admired the player character's anarchist actions#UGH its fine. hes my girlfriend i understand him better anyway#fo4

Coming in hot with more fight-or-flight content let's fucking go
#hi fi rush#hi-fi rush#rekka hi fi rush#mimosa hi fi rush#fightorflight#there's like. 5 different ways i can take this ship and Mimosa fell first Rekka fell harder is one of them#Mimosa to me is like. pretty experienced in relationships. but also unfortunately experienced in rejection breakups and situationships#she knows when she starts to catch feelings and knows how to mask them well and tries to gauge their interest#and when she thinks Rekka doesn't reciprocate she just goes 'same shit different day. ow oof why does this one hurt' and tries to move on#meanwhile Rekka bolts upright at 3 AM one morning drenched in sweat realizing she likes Mimosa and she is NOT TAKING IT WELL#she takes after QA-1MIL and starts gnawing on defects to let out that stress#also i just imagined them like. physically falling. and it's still very ic for them#Mimosa's graceful with her wings and is slow and precise about floating down into the romance pit#and Rekka comes hurtling down at 500 mph and leaves a crater where she landed and she's fine physically just very dizzy
