- one of the biggest reasons keeping grizzly from agreeing to break the doctor out now is because hes really afraid he'll be super bitter against the family and augment himself to have some sort of powers and become a supervillain. and he thinks something like that happening would absolutely CRUSH dakota to a point where he wouldnt know how he would come back from that

- bizly had a real time epiphany, everyone was quiet for a minute and he just went "oh my god. i know exactly how this is gonna work. pick anything you want, i got this. i have a way to make everything work"

- grizzly has NO idea which option hes gonna choose, but he thinks hes leaning toward dakota getting a normal heart and just training really hard at martial arts. charlie and condi are saying that theyre really interested to see dakota before he goes and trains because theyve never seen him *weak* before

- grizzly: "if you ever call dakota stupid in character again ill cry"

charlie: "i mean i only did that because he was putting himself in danger! i think william heard him say shit like 'its cool. its okay ive got two years' and i think he just got genuinely really upset at that. william would rather keep his friend alive than spare his feelings"

anyway. hi :) prime defenders huh. this is gonna be less of an essay and more of a sleepy ramble but ohhh i have so many thoughts. they all process things so differently and none of them are good at it they all need therapy so bad. ms.g where is the hero therapy why didnt you build that into w.a.t.c.h ma'am

vyncent is probably the best at actually processing things out of all of them, he just internalizes everything to the point where he wont talk about it unless hes pushed past the breaking point. vyncent is actually very.. emotionally intelligent? i want to say mature but that feels like im singling him out because hes the oldest. i just feel like because he grew up on Fauna and had to be in basically survival mode in a world full of monsters trying to kill you.. that makes a person grow up quicker than they should. i think vyncent had a good childhood and for the most part his parents took good care of him but just.. living in that world doesnt seem like it leaves room for a whole lot of expressing emotions. vyncent is good at quick analysis of a situation, but unless a problem directly interferes with the current goal he doesnt externalize it to everyone else. but bottling up his feelings and emotions just builds up pressure over time until something like the lich makes him blow up and let it all out at once, usually in a dramatic monologue format bc condi is really good at those god damn it. also they played off the fact that vyncent said all of that to the lich and then missed his attack as a funny thing but i like to think of it as. he got too overwhelmed w his emotions and lashed out too soon it made his fighting messy. vyncent is so angry and honestly after what hes been through he deserves to be !!!!

william wisp. my boy. god hes just like me fr so much so that it physically hurts sometimes. anyway. i always think back to the scene where theyre all in the cabin talking about themselves/sharing backstories and william keeps desperately trying not to talk about himself. the fact that hes so ashamed of his powers he hides wisp form every time. two of his powers are LITERALLY a) turning invisible and b) turning intangible, usually as an excuse to leave whatever situation hes in ("accidentally" falling through the floor at opportune moments in season 1) . theres. a thing that happens at the end of episode 13/beginning of epidode 14 that youre really close to and i wont spoil yet but god it has to do with this so extremely much please come back to my inbox when you get there. youll know what it is trust me. um. yeah. so anyway. i think a lot of this comes from a place of. he doesnt want anyone to be scared of him. williams not stupid hes incredibly smart and insightful he knows his powers are objectively SCARY. hes scared of himself constantly, he doesnt want anyone else to feel that way about him, so he shifts focus whenever those aspects of himself are brought up because if someone were to think about it for any amount of time theyd realize the truth that hes scary and dangerous to be around (<< william logic. hey remember how one of the reasons he originally left deadwood was because the monsters there were attracted to the wisps and therefore Him so he left to keep his friends/family out of danger)

i think a lot about williams death and the immediate aftermath, i dont know how much you actually know and how much of this comes later but . how does he go home after waking up from that. his parents know about his powers, so they MUST know what happened. what do you think he told them when he god home muddy and dirty and broken and probably bloody after being missing for. god knows how long. how does he look his mother in the eyes and tell her her little boy is dead. but hes also not because hes standing right in front of her. how the fuck do you think he felt the first time he went into wisp form and saw his body laying there !!! of course he wouldnt want to talk about that!!!! youre gonna have to pry william wisps emotions from his cold dead hands !!!!!!!

dakota's response to the ashe situation was to run away in the woods and do nothing but train for 10 months. he didnt think about it for 10 months. i dont even have a whole lot to say about dakota other than like. stunned silence whenever his inability to process trauma is brought up because grizzly does such an incredible job at being like "you ask dakota how hes doing and his face is just blank" << paraphrased actual quote from an episode i cannot remember which one. either 11 or 12 ?

also because im thinking about him im including ashe in this. we didnt get to see a whole lot of his canon reactions to extreme emotional situations so a lot of this is just coming from My Mind but ashe seems like hed be the type to repress a lot of his emotions too. being alone in your house/in your room for extended periods of time will do that to a guy. i think he feels a lot of things and will probably very openly cry/scream/get angry when hes alone but as soon as he knows another person is there he can immediately flip the switch to turn it all off like nothing happened. very much a deadpan "im fine." if someone asks how hes doing, even if hes got like. the remainder of tear tracks down his face. cannot physically express his emotions in the presence of someone else

I’m so glad you like them!!! I was really nervous about talking about them but I needed to get it out cuz none of my friends know I’m freak 😔. I absolutely adore them! And yes, mrs Williams having a first husband that Andy reminds her of!! I think he died, I’m not sure how, but I think that they already had kid together at that point and mrs Williams was desperate to get remarried so she married a man who had a good job who could provide for her but she had no real love for him. Then it was all for naught cuz he loses his job and they have to move to a ‘seedier’ neighborhood. I think however, that the time that Andy and her spent together was very beneficial for the both of them, not only just In the obvious way but also bc Andy is, at first, very sleazy, kind of a dirtbag but thru falling for an older more ‘sophisticated’ woman he learns that he wants to change, he wants to be a better man not only for her but also for his brother. He’s still kinda sleazy but he gets better. And on mrs Williams end I think thru having an affair and disobeying her husband, finally doing something for herself she become a lot more whole. After that summer I think she divorces her husband, moves away, and lives out her life a lot happier. It’s still very melancholy for the both of them but I think at the end they’re a lot happier and a lot better off after everything.

Enough rambling about them!!! It’s time for fucked up brother sister dynamics!! I honestly want her to be a lesbian, I think it would be really good for her. I think after the bachelorette party Annalise has a lot to come to terms with, she deludes herself for a while that she wasnt into it bc that’s Wrong, and that it was just a way to get back at her brother. She goes into full comphet mode and gets a sleazy grimy boyfriend who’s like 24 or something. She hates him so much tho and breaks it off after like 2 months. Annalise does eventually move away, goes to college, comes to term with her lesbianism, cuts her hair in a panic over her first girl crush. All that jazz. But I think her brother still haunts her sometimes. She’s mostly come to terms with it by now but after all, he’s still her family, she still has to go home every winter and see him and his wife. WHICH!! Btw let’s talk ab the wife!! I think her names some very basic name like shelia or something. She’s the real tragedy here, cuz while Annalise escapes to the Big City TM shelia can never!! She’s stuck, forever a wife, forever a daughter, forever a mother. And she hates it!!! But there’s nothing she can do! So she jsut has to sit there, picture perfect wife, over thanksgiving staring at the one woman who made her feel something. Staring at her and whatever girlfriend Annalise has brought over,, thinking about that night.

okay so get this i took an intro to psychology course 4 years ago so I clearly dont know what I’m doing bUT THAT HASN’T STOPPED ME BEFORE SO LET’S GET INTO SOME BACKSTORY AND THE COMPLEXITY OF RED’S AND MIKE’S RELATIONSHIP

UNDER THE CUT BECAUSE I RAMBLED WAAAAY MORE THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD

I never bothered much on how close Mike and Red are- they’re siblings after all! And of COURSE Red is overprotective of Mike- look at how much trouble Mike gets into! And Mike is super affectionate towards Red because- he’s Michael! He’s affectionate to all of his loved ones! BUT WHAT IF WE TOOK IT A STEP FURTHER AND GAVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP MUCH MORE CONTEXT

ENTER: CHILDHOOD

Red is a very interesting perspective to look at- being trans and autistic, sadly, made it hard to connect with others in a social setting. It was hard for him to make friends as not only was he trying to convince his peers that he was a boy, he also had a lot of trouble with social cues. This caused him to focus a lot more on schoolwork since he didn’t spend much time with peers. He especially excelled in math and science, after all numbers are concrete and don’t change, numbers make sense, it’s people that are complicated(*sweats in self projection*) So because of this, he tends to be a straight A student. A “pleasure to have in class”, if you will. He’s not spending every second of every day studying, but he finds that good grades come pretty naturally to him.

Michael, on the other hand, is a bit on the opposite. Due to having ADHD, he still had trouble socializing, but found it a bit easier to make friends than Red. In school, Mike was more of a B-C student, very average. He’s intelligent, but due to ADHD often had trouble remembering to do homework or focusing in class. His grades didn’t bother him much, though.

Once their mother died, things got complicated.

Michael, understandably, had a lot of trouble coping. Who wouldn’t? When his father became a lot more aloof, he didn’t have anyone to turn to. He tries to keep up friendships, but in being desperate to have any connection with anyone, he gets some… not-so-good friends(the fnaf 4 bullies)

Red is having just as much trouble coping. Unlike Michael, who looks for external sources of comfort in his grieving, Red internalizes all of his feelings. He bottles them up, fakes the smile, and thinks that that… is okay. Even though it’s not(keep in mind they’re like 13-14, far too young to understand emotional maturity in coping). With William far more distant, Red takes it on himself to force himself to grow up, to take care of not only Michael but also Elizabeth and Anthony.

Michael’s grades begin to slip as his depression worsens. He gets increasingly frustrated because his father doesn’t comfort him anymore, he’s not proud of him anymore because he’s failing all of his classes… while giving a “good job” to Red for another round of straight A’s. His shitty friends make fun of him for crying or accusing him of being gay(which, he is, but in his friends’ eyes that’s “bad”). He then starts to internalize this toxic masculinity: trying to work out more, trying to look and act more tough, bullying Anthony for crying, etc.

And Michael… really starts to hate Red. Red seems to have it all together: the good grades, being comfortable in being LGBT and not worrying about fitting in, taking care of the family- Red becomes more and more of the “good” twin while Michael becomes the “problematic” twin. He hates Red out of jealousy and his inferiority complex, not because he has anything against Red himself. 

Red, who has been internalizing his feelings for so long, begins to develop severe, crippling anxiety, though he’s very good at hiding it. This causes him to develop insomnia, which really starts to make him a lot more… agitated. Especially with Michael getting worse and worse and William doing jack shit to stop this(other than occasionally yelling at Michael… which makes things even worse as Michael will deliberately get in trouble since getting negative attention is better than no attention in Michael’s eyes). So Red, forcing himself to be the “responsible” one, and not understanding social cues enough to understand why Michael is developing such shitty traits, begins to chastise the hell out of him. He’s the one calling Mike out on everything and scolding him whenever he’s bullying Anthony.

This makes Mike really start to abhor Red since- now he’s starting to think that Red thinks he’s better than Mike. This isn’t true of course, but Mike’s inferiority complex is starting to tell him this. This makes Mike develop even more of a rebel complex, and really drives that wedge between then. 

Michael and Red hate each other.

Then 1983 happens. And everything changes. Michael, of course, fucking breaks. He just killed his little brother over a stupid prank. His friends leave him, his father is- Michael is currently dead to William, and overall Michael is alone. Red can’t even bring himself to chastise Michael because everything William says to him- everything Michael says to himself- is so, so much worse than anything Red could ever say.

It’s then Mike finally opens up to Red about everything(while having an emotional breakdown, of course). Michael comes to the realization that he can’t push his twin away from him, and taking out all of his insecurities on Red was- really not okay! He needed to start to communicate his thoughts and feelings! Red also realizes that he hasn’t been empathizing with Mike whatsoever. In trying to take a constant moral high ground, he realizes that he was acting more like a strict parent than a twin brother/best friend to the one guy who just needed a good friend more than anything!

At this point, Michael really starts to get more attached to Red(who doesn’t bully him for crying/being feminine/being gay! yay for basic human decency!), and Red starts to become really protective of Michael(he’s still overbearing at times, but he does try his best to just be a good brother/friend rather than a good guardian). Of course, the recovery process is excruciatingly slow, especially when Elizabeth dies and all they have is each other, but it is a step in the right direction.

Oh, Ilhan Omar, what have you done? Yes, speaking the truth in the halls of Congress has always been hazardous to your health, but when little Ilhan, newly elected representative for the fifth district of Minnesota (basically Minneapolis and environs), remarked that “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country” (meaning, of course, Israel), the walls of hypocrisy in DC really began to shake and sway.

From my perspective, it’s perfectly okay to “to push for allegiance to a foreign country,” as long as you’re willing to admit that that’s what you’re doing.1 But U.S. Likudists like Bill Kristol and Jennifer Rubin—both of whom I vehemently agree with on some issues—insist that, when it comes to Israel, simply making the charge of “dual loyalty”, as it’s usually framed, is in itself anti-Semitism in its purest and most vicious form. Old-fashioned liberal Jonathan Chait, whom I very often praise, writes furiously that “Ilhan Omar’s smearing of pro-Israel activism as a form of dual loyalty” is evidence that anti-Semitism may rip the Democratic Party apart as it has done to the Labour Party in Great Britain.

But nothing is more obvious that many champions of Israel, both Jewish and non-Jewish (e.g., evangelical Christians), insist that the U.S. has a moral duty to support Israel’s interests as defined by Israel, regardless of this policy’s effects on U.S. interests. Every recent secretary of state, upon retiring, writes a memoir in which she complains about what a pain in the ass the Israelis were, how they never give and always take. But such statements are never made in office—not, at least, since Secretary of State James Baker, serving under George H. W. Bush, uttered the immortal line “Fuck the Jews. They never vote for us anyway.”

The furor over Omar’s comments, nicely dissected/discussed by the Washington Post’s Paul Waldman, “The dishonest smearing of Ilhan Omar” and New York’s Eric Levitz, “Ilhan Omar Has a Less Bigoted Position on Israel Than Almost All of Her Colleagues”, coincides with another Israeli-related furor, the “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” movement, directed against Israel, and the anti-B.D.S. movement, pursued by pro-Israeli groups through state and federal legislation, as well as pressure on universities and colleges. I understand that Omar supports B.D.S., which is not an encouraging sign.

I don’t see the point of singling out Israel for punishment when the U.S. (for example) is surely just as wicked, if not more so. The B.D.S. movement, though not entirely anti-Semitic (it seems), is largely so, and appeals to (some) academic types, particularly in the, uh, “liberal” arts,2 who are discovering that, well, nobody gives a damn about what they have to say any more, so they want to start making a racket about something. What (I suspect) mostly worries pro-Israeli groups is that B.D.S. appeals to frustrated academics desperate to prove that they “care”, particularly if they can do so in a way that offends conventional opinion, but, more importantly, in the arguments that will be/are ensuing over B.D.S., publicity will be given to the many less than savory activities that Israel engages in. Under Benjamin Netanyahu and his merry band of Likudists, Israel has slid steadily towards a deeply conservative, anti-secular culture that is bound to offend any woke folk and could significantly tarnish the Israel brand. And so we see a collision between two groups who both want to significantly stifle free speech. Charming!

Afterwords For decades, Israel’s most fervent supporters—The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), in particular—took it for granted that no one in Washington would dare defy them. Now they are attempting to claw back by force what they lost through vanity. UPDATE The New York Times' Thomas Friedman, in his column today, confirms Omar's unfortunate (unfortunate and amusingly nuanced) embrace of "B.D.S." and offers copious detail on AIPAC's sins. I very largely agree with what Friedman has to say, except for his notion (Friedman is, of course, Jewish) that Israel's existence is justified on the basis of “the right of the Jewish people to build a nation-state in their ancient homeland,” a “right” that I suspect Mr. Friedman does not extend to anyone else—the Algonquins, for example.

Israel is the solution to a Western problem (anti-Semitism) imposed on a non-Western people, a very clumsy one, excusable only on the grounds that no other feasible solution was available. It would have been much better if the U.S. had just accepted all the remaining European Jews into the U.S. after World War II, but unfortunately that was politically impossible. That influence was given mainstream corporate backing on Monday when Nike confirmed that Kaepernick would be the face of a new ad campaign for the 30th anniversary of their Just Do It slogan.

The big reveal ahead of the NFLs regular-season opener on Thursday night came as more of a surprise than it should have, given the lengthy track record of the sports apparel company, which has been out in front of social trends for decades. Nike put money behind prominent African American coaches like Georgetowns John Thompson before doing so was popular. They made a black teenager the face of their company when Tiger Woods turned professional with the provocative Hello World campaign that sparked controversy (and, lest we forget, even boycotts) by leaning into Americas thorny racist past.

They made Spike Lees Mars Blackmon character the face of an Air Jordan campaign, throwing their support behind a 30-year-old black filmmaker who challenged America to wake up with desperate urgency, showing us the right thing isnt always the easy thing. Now three decades on, theyve aligned themselves with a 30-year-old black quarterback whos done the same thing with his silent protest against police violence, one thats ushered in an era of athlete activism unprecedented since the 1960s.

What these signposts all have in common is that they are social statements, not political ones. Nike dont answer to Fox News. They dont answer to Donald Trump. They answer to the consumer. And the broader implication of their decision to stand with Kaepernick is evidence of what we already know: the #MAGA crowd are vocal but they are a minority. Nike may be brave but theyre not stupid. They know the number of those who will be aggrieved by Nikes endorsement of Kaepernick is small on a global scale, even if it costs the company a few points on their stock in the short-term (the companys share price fell 2% on Tuesday). On Tuesday, some people posted videos of themselves burning Nike products on social media, but huge numbers of Americans are with Kaepernick. Look no further than the ovation he received on Friday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium when he was shown on the JumboTron raising his fist as Serena and Venus Williams faced off at the US Open.

The NFL wont die because of Colin Kaepernick the concussion epidemic, maybe, but thats a different issue yet it has bungled its handling of the issues he has raised. The league may have the smartest marketing people in the business, but the cabal of billionaire owners continue to demonstrate theyre so out of touch its embarrassing. How quickly could they have avoided their ongoing headache if theyd pulled Kaepernick aside from the beginning, made a good-faith effort to understand the issues of police brutality and pledged, say, to match every donation made by a player to social justice causes? He succeeded by starting a conversation, but now the free-agent quarterback is more powerful than ever.

Last week Kaepernick won a legal victory in his grievance against the NFL, in which he alleges the owners have conspired to keep him off the field because of his protests, when an arbitrator denied the leagues request to throw out the case. Proving collusion by the leagues 32 owners will not be easy due to the high legal standard of the claim, but the decision by one of the NFLs top partners to make Kaepernick the face of a prominent campaign wont do much to back up the argument that he is radioactive for business.

Two years after Kaepernick, following a dialogue with a military veteran, first knelt during the Star-Spangled Banner, American news organizations continue to a mischaracterize the movement he launched as anthem protests. But thats an intellectually dishonest sleight of hand intended to divert the conversation from state violence, a misdirection seized on time and again by Americas president. They have actively framed Kaepernicks actions as inconsistent with patriotism when in fact patriotism is at the movements very essence. Its also codified in the document comprising Americas DNA: the belief in a more perfect union. That we can always do better. That without struggle there is no progress. That the job is never done.

Which makes Mondays announcement a triumph for clarity over obfuscation, for advancement over regression. For many, what it means to be an American is less and less some dude riding a tractor and more Kaepernick and Serena and LeBron. Thats what the people burning their shoes on Tuesday are upset about. For all the bluster about respecting the flag, they have never been more nakedly exposed: its quite obviously not about respecting anything at all.

I am so excited to be competing! Everyone seems like such nice people and I can't wait to play in the challenges and do my very best!

Mattie is such a Basic Bitch(TM) and it's killing me. Like I'm not that great of an actress, I am a superb liar but I am a shitty actress. Why? because humor is the only thing that keeps me from going insane and I made Mattie such a basic bitch that she can't use any of my "quirks" or fun thoughts and theories. And now Mattie just mentioned death by dehydration, motherfucker! I am so going to be first boot it's not even funny. UwU

I just wanna talk about my feelings about being on the neutral tribe... I do consider myself on the Chaotic Neutral/Chaotic Good side of things. The chaos comes from my crazy emotions. I'm a Pisces so I'm sensitive and emotional. Also I'm actually kinda happy about being on a tribe of 6 people. I NATURALLY gravitate towards Bianca. I know who Paul is cause he slipped up in the tribe chat. So I feel good :)

OK SO i said i was retired but i adore logan and i wanna see what i can do without my baggage of the past that fukt me in ts all stars so phew. the people on my team seem chill, idk why but for some reason i get the feeling that theyre younger than me which doesnt make sense since im only 20 but anyway. So I've spent all day at Disney World today and I finally get back to the hotel and come online to speak to my tribe.  No one has talked to me one on one yet so... yeah,  no idea.  I said in the main chat I just got off work and I checked online to see Chick-fil-a's hours to make sure my story checked out too. :* We'll see what happens, on to figuring out this challenge!

okay, i've been trying to be a super sleuth to figure out these identities...  I really think that Misty is really Nic.  Misty is from Georgia and Nic is from Georgia, and I think they are from around the same area.  Nic knows that I am from Georgia and now he knows that Gabby is from Georgia too so I hope he doesn't put it together, I think that I'm typing differently enough and I lowkey think he believes that whoever is behind Gabby really works at chick fil a because I've been doing my homework. I'm not sure who Mattie is yet, but I'm having a hard time NOT mentioning how much I love Glee because then I think people would obviously know who I am- or they would think that I'm Ashley Sarah, but Mattie was talking about Scream Queens and I desperately wanted to say I LOVE LEA MICHELE but I kept my cool. Not much has happened so far. I've talked to a few people but nothing has really moved forward. I was happy to go to the devil's hole, although I didn't end up finding anything. I'm glad I got a chance to meet people from the other tribes though. It was interesting to find out that they have people who haven't even spoken in tribe chat yet? That's crazy. Also it's fun to try to guess who's who. I mean, it's possible I don't even already know the people on my tribe, but it's still fun to try to figure out who they could be. I haven't really gotten there yet. Although I wonder if Alex Raine is a bit new to the community because he's a comp beast, yet he's showing it and making it obvious and making himself a target. I don't know, he seems cool and we've talked a bit, but come merge that could be tricky for him. In terms of alliances, there aren't any yet that I'm really aware of, but Jenny and Alex are the only ones I've talked to that much and I'd be happy to work with them, despite being a little nervous that Alex is a target. He's nice and hopefully his social game is as good as his physical.
