that “chromebooks are the reason kids can’t use computers” post is a little dumb. not a single school i’ve worked in had had chromebooks, not even the ones with 1-to-1 classrooms.
and i know to some this will sound like i’m an evil dictator but blocking websites and not allowing kids to download software is a necessary evil if you’re going to use laptops in class.
to blame it all on google is a little weird and conspiracy like imo.

(your most recent iPad anon) oh my goodness yes!!! MacBocks look nice and have some cool things with them but your better off just, getting a different computer. And even if they were the best thing ever, the half of the StudyBlr community could be replaced with a Apple ad and there really would be be a material difference.
another anon said:  i’ve been so tempted to get an iPad + apple pencil for notetaking and minor video editing, but being a film student i already invested in the macbook pro for editing 4k video etc... it’s helpful to see your true opinions on it bc i honestly was almost giving into the trend! do u have any recommendations for digitizing written notes (is scanning them the best way?) or of any good ways to take notes on a laptop while still retaining as much info as writing by hand?
another anon said:  Ok I'm not like a studyblr person but YES IPADS ARE THE WORST!!!! my school gave me one last yr for assistive tech and it sucked ASS half of our school programs didn't work and it was really awful for my disability needs even with a keyboard bc I couldn't use a mouse. We got chromebooks now bc of covid and those aren't the best but dear God I HATE iPads for school like if ur disabled and they offer ipads for aac don't get one the only good thing is the voiceover program but if ur not b/vi ipads serve no benefit imo i much prefer my dinky lil chromebook this has been a accessibility psa uwu

another anon said:  I have the “budget” ipad the cheapest version that u can get...thats great but the apple pencil the case and the keyboard that you have to buy to make it work is not worth it. And the appstore is a monopoly so yeAH. IPad pro is really a loss tbh i just like that most of the time the features they introduce to it, are watered down to cheaper ones (apple pencil support etc) like unless you need extra storage or bigger storage space go for the cheapest one- (I have had mine for a 2 years and it is yet to filled up)
another anon said:  Re: iPad though, I'm from India where even if Apple was popular (it's more of a status symbol really, people in my circle associate Apple with having too much money lel) it's so gosh darn expensive, like an additional 2000 dollars expensive, that not many are gonna buy it xD
i’m compiling all of these ipad-related asks together bc they’re all abt the same topic and offer interesting insights into the whole ipad thing :0
as for the anon curious abt digitizing handwritten notes / maximizing information retention, you could maybe try typing out your lecture notes but then hand-writing mini summaries of each lecture + creating review summary sheets for each unit / exam. that way, you could combine the speed of typing out notes with the information retention from handwriting things. if you want to keep a digital copy of your handwritten stuff, you could take a picture of it or scan it + combine it with your digital notes. i use an app called office lens, but i’m sure there are loads of scanning options out there!
