this post gets a warning for statutory rape & also child abuse bc scott’s dad is a dick
we open ch11 with stiles pov, he has been ditched by everyone, is alone in the woods, and terrified for all his friends
this is reading like night school tbh
aww he's talking about how he got booted out of cub scouts for being too talkative during meetings
LMAO
"I couldn't find them," Derek said, coming up behind him, and Stiles let out a shriek.
listen even though i dont like the ship this is honestly a great dynamic i love derek being terrifying let my boy have some comfort in being able to scare other people
derek say the alpha is setting the fires to throw him off scott's scent, or maybe the argents are, and stiles is like PFFFT you dont seriously think allison is in on this and derek's like you shouldn't be surprised you know who the argents are & what they do & he stares into the campfire and Remembers oh god here comes the flashbacks
"six years earlier" goodbye! this is gonna be so fucked up
so young derek is in the pool swimming laps and talking about the wolf moon where all the hales from around the country will be coming in to do a ritual where they honor their ancestor—and this is interesting—the beast of gévaudan
who is actually the argents ancestor in later canon lmao but it's cool that originally it was the First Werewolf. maybe this is like as close to religion as werewolves get
anyways derek and his cousin josh are gonna be competeing for some honor (derek's dad and peter have a bet going - peter's better against derek :/) so he's doing extra laps and workouts. apparently laura makes gentle fun of him a lot god im so sad
anyway the lifeguard has to leave the school for a few weeks bc his wife is having a baby soon and the sub might not let derek stay and swim after hours
obviously the sub is going to be kate i know this
awww apparently the swim coach keeps beggin derek to join the team but he's too worried about shifting at school and full moons to join
yep here's kte, wearing a Sexy Swimsuit and making eyes at derek when he happens to look at her from scross the pool. she lets out a "lusty chuckle" as he gets embarrassed and looks away
he thinks she's really pretty and can't stop looking at her body but he's content enough to just blush about it and swim it off UNTIL he realizes he's been swimming for ages, the pool is empty, and it's just the two of them, but she's still swimming in his lane
"He thought about reaching out, touching her. He wanted to, with all his straining body. But she was practically a teacher, and he was only sixteen. Of course she was just toying with him."
yeah fuck there it is jesus christ
"Flustered, even a little frightened, Derek ducked beneath the nylon lane divider, reached the side, and climbed out of the pool. He left without saying a word, heading for the boys' locker room. Her amused laughter trailed after him. He was almost afraid to shower, but he quickly rinsed off and changed into street clothes, still mostly wet. He practically ran out of the school, looking over his shoulder."
like this scene paints derek as instantly and deeply attacted to her which lol me over here in ace derek camp i don't buy it but GEEZ even with all that the fucking...predatory nature of how she acts—like she's standing in the parking lot staring at him and waiting for him when he gets out, and he runs away and leaves without a word
you could argue that he's shy and doesn't know how to handle a crush bc it's probably true but she's corraling him and cornering him. she's hunting him. FUCKED up
he's like in utter disbelief that she'd come onto him and you get the sense that he wouldn't know what to do if she was more direct
and then derek goes to the beaconburger, which i am absolutely putting into a fanfic, and meets laura for dinner, to ease the flow of traffic in their own kitchen at home
he actually does IMMEDIATELY tell laura about what happened when she asks why he's so upset and she's pretty scandalized that it's a teacher at first, but then she asks if they banged and just sort of gently teases him when he gets embarrassed because "in our world 16 is mateable" yikes that's some bad writing
laura: so she came onto you like a big slut? derek: [instantly shutting down]
man :////
i'm pretty disappointed lol for all the ways this book is good at depicting kate as predatory you'd think it'd make laura a little less "sure fuck a teacher thats fine"
lol and then she accuses him of being in puppy love and we end the scene alright then
oh my god baby scott!!!! i am highkey prepared to fight his father
scott and his parents are a few booths down
his parents are arguing about something, and they always argue, but today something Bad has happened but he doesnt know what
he like, says he isnt hungry and asks if he can go play at the arcades to get away from the fighting and jesus FUCKING CHRIST rafe says that they don't have the money, melissa says she has a couple of quarters, scott holds his hand out, and and rafe grabs his wrist: "I'm getting mixed messages. First, we don't have enough money to pay for cable. But we have enough money for Scott's inhaler. We don't have enough money for a down payment on a new car but we can stop in here at the Beaconburger instead of eating at home, where mac and cheese is a dollar a box."
and scott begins to have an asthma attack but he tries not to show it bc he doesn't like to have them in front of his dad
and melissa is like "u let go of my son" and tries to give him his inhaler but his dad is like "you baby him, it's all in his head"
and melissa has to threaten to hit rafe before he finally lets go and lets scott have the inhaler jesus fuck like he was seeing spots he nearly passed out
"Her eyes narrowed. She hated his dad. Anyone could see that."
rafe gets mad and gives him a five-dollar bill and tells him to go play his damn games. and he passes by a table with a boy and girl talking about being in love (laura and derek, obviously)
and he promises himself that eh will never, ever, fall in love, end chapter
jesus CHRIST
scott mccall who has so much love in his heart it is bursting full and running over i'm SO SAD for him
#personal#teen wolf#on fire#derek hale#kate argent#laura hale#scott mccall#melissa mccall#frankly i wish chris had fucking decked RAFE in season 6#i know this book isn't canon but like...for two seasons#they implied kate committed statutory rape and rafe smacked his family around#and took it all back in season 3 which was really shitty#so like while These Events did not happen in this exact way i feel like this book has a fair amount of emotional truth in it??#at least re: what they were going for in season 1 & 2#and they can try to joss their own damn selves if they want but like fuck canon these are my emotional truths and i'm fucking sad about it#since we can take and leave what we want lol i'm gonna leave laura being so 'whatever' about kate#i'll stick with rafe being a shitheel tho and im real glad melissa was ready to deck him#she needs a good man who doesnt pull that shit (chris)#look...he'd absolutely deck a guy when he found out said guy had laid hands on the woman he loved im js#like she wouldnt really need him to. she's out of that relationship & fine now#but he would#i would really enjoy that.

The Talons - Mirror Universe Batfamily General Concept
I’ve read Batman: The White Knight because I heard it’s supposed to be a “liberal power fantasy”. And I think it doesn’t really do it well. It tries to draw parallels between Batman and police brutality but I think it goes only halfway through and it leads to some confusing moments like “Here are two TV hosts arguing. One is whining about “those damn SJWs”, the other is defending the fucking Joker.” And I’m like “who I’m supposed to side here with?” I think you can do that metaphor and “good Joker vs evil Batman” story at the same time. But you cannot have cured Joker and Batman going mad. You need to go full on Earth-3 for it. Mirror Universe, Jack Napier vs the Owlman.
Which got me thinking about it for a bit and how mirror universes work. And I started to come up with ideas of something I don’t think we’ve seen in full explored.
How would a mirror universe Batfamily look like?
Okay, so the idea with Mirror Universe characters in this is that I won’t just flip their good-evil alignment around, I also want to flip what I feel are some of their recognizable characteristics and give their mirror selves the opposite. I won’t be doing everyone, I basically have only a few ideas, but if anyone is willing to pick it up for a something or add your own, feel free to use these as guidelines.
Okay, so for the starters we need to describe this version of Owlman. There are several of him but I think that Crisis on Two Earths version is a good one to take inspiration from. But we add to this, maybe some inspiration from that article how Gotham would make more sense if it was Owlman’s origin story. This Owlman is a nihilist and a fascist. The idea is that after the death of his parents this Bruce was raised by Alfred who worked for Court of Owls and he was raised to become Owl’s champion, hence the name.
He appeared as Owlman as an adult and simultaneously as Bruce Wayne entered politics, riding on the promises to finish of the crime in the city and supporting brutal and violent vigilante whose methods were not unlike that of Crazy Steve Batman. Once he became the mayor, he proceeded to officially approve and sponsor Owlman, who is now officially recognized a member of the police department.
Owlman thinks nothing really matters and everyone are just pawns for his enjoyment. He enjoys breaking people, pushing them to let their worst instincts come out and take over, make them realize how clinging to old morality and values. Once the restraints are gone, they can release their full potential. And then he makes them fall in line.
His Jim Gordon is...well, basically Gotham Jim Gordon, if he was portrayed as an actually vile bastard who deludes himself into thinking he does the right thing. He thinks he cleared GCPD out of corruption, but in reality surrounded himself only with most violent cops and his police happily employs profiling and police brutality to keep citizens in line.
Owlman has military backing as well, thanks to general Kate Kane. While main verse Batwoman is about, as Margeritte Bennett pointed out, owing to your mistakes, her mirror universe has a bit of a problem with it. You see, she initially backed Owlman, thinking him to be a force of good and once she realized what a mistake it was, she made too many sacrifices for the sake of the cause. Sunken cost fallacy kicked in and now she supports this madman hoping, one day it will worth it.
And then there are the Talons. Imagine those Court of Owls had, only now their outfits look more like uniforms a bit on the Hitler’s Youth style. because Talons become a sort of youth movement orchestrated by Wayne to draw young people with great potential into his hands and twist them into his movement. There are no colorful costumes or nicknames for them, everybody is a Talon, everybody wears the same outfit., everybody is part of Owlman’s army. I’m thinking of them as trying to nail down what’s making every batfamily member unique and how terrifying would they be if you either twisted or took that part away.
Richard Grayson is the leader of the Talons. Do not. ever. call him. Dick. When Nightwing is the happy one in the Batfam, his mirror universe counterpart is extremely serious, cruel and brooding. Where Dick is a safety net of the rest of the Batfamily, Richard is more like a leash, keeping other Talons in line.
While Batgirl was, at least originally, a Batfam member who didn’t have any scars or damage to motivate her to pick up the costume. So Mirror Universe Barbara is possibly the most messed up of the Talons. Fittingly, being raised by this world’s Jim Gordon. Imagine all creepy undertones Bruce Timm and Briana Azzarello put into the latest movie with her and add all the crap we’re all expecting Joss Whedon to give her in his movie. Yes, this is a jab at those guys.
Tim became Robin to help Bruce regain stability and he was sort of a stabilizing element to the entire Batfamily. Mirror Tim is the one who needs others for stability, being super aggressive and emotional. He doesn’t have main Tim’s knowledge or skills but is possibly best fighter - he shows how dangerous would Tim be if instead of science, strategy and everything else he pulled all his dedication into fighting.
Ras Al’Ghul was leading League of Heroes, a secret organization with the purpose of helping the world. He saw potential in Owlman and tried to redirect him towards the path of good. Owlman killed him and destroyed his organization. Talia fleed, but carrying Bruce’s child. Mirro Damian Wayne was raised and trained to defeat his evil father, but he fell under his corruptive influence and ended up becoming one of Talons. But he still carries morals instilled into him by Talia, being the most humble and restrained of them.
Mirror Cass is possible the one most different from the original. She’s a daughter of two heroes (maybe even members of League of Heroes?) whom Owlman corrupted for his sick amusement. Where main Universe Cass is a skilled fighter who has problems with communicating with people, Talon Cass actually abhors fighting and instead is a skilled manipulator who can talk herself out of almost any trouble and serves as mayor Wayne’s main spokesperson. While main Cass attaches to people, Talon Cass has her versions of Tim, Steph and Harper warped around her finger.
Duke Thomas is rising quickly in the ranks of Talons, recruiting several new members and gaining their loyalty and getting the attention of both Richard and Owlman himself. Duke is actually aware that Owlman’s supposed claims of order and law are bullshit and he saw right through what kind of nihilistic bastard he is. However, that’s okay with him. Gotham took his parents away from Duke so now he put all the drive and focus his main-universe counterpart has, to one goal - see it razed to the ground. He sees Owlman as means to do exactly that and hopes his actions will escalate.
Now, for the people opposing them, there are few superheroes fighting Owlman and Talons. Mister Freeze, Poison Ivy, Clayface (although Owlman is hatching a scheme to corrupt him recently) and Mighty Croc. That team has also included fire-powered Calamity until Owlman killed her. It’s possible her daughter, Olive Silverlock, has inherited her abilities, but she also fell under Owlman’s sway. She’s currently at Gotham Academy, secretly recruiting young people into Talons and keeping Owlman’s secret operations there as a secret. She’s bitter enemies with Maps Mizoguchi, young but a politically-minded vocal critic of Owlman and Mayor Wayne.
Then there is Jack Napier, an FBI agent who is determined to end Owlman. He has a team of specialists - agent Selina Kyle, persecutor Harvey Dent, genius cryptologist Edward Nigma, brilliant psychologist Harleen Quinnzel and psychiatrist Hugo Strange - on the case. Owlman says he could crush them at any time, but he is fascinated by Napier’s idealism, iron will and actual, honest faith in by the book approach - he keeps them alive because he wants to see what will finally make a rare honest agent finally crack. Napier’s latest success was pushing a charge against a high-ranking member of Talons, Jason Todd, and having him get a life sentence.
The final force opposing Owlman is Bane, mysterious, leader of people’s movement that started organizing in response to Owlman’s militia. Starting from Latino-Americans it spread among all groups oppressed by mayor Wayne, cops or Owlman and his Talons. Militant in their approach, they’re willing to respond to force with force and managed to ensure few districts are currently off-limits to Talons, who know they’ll get shot the moment they set their foot in there.
And that’s it from me. If anyone wants to use it for roleplays or fanfics or ran with how would other characters from Gotham be in this Mirror Universe, be my guest. If you have any questions or criticism of some of my ideas, feel free to say it in reblogs and comments

Everything's Terminal, Isn't It? () Yumie () Trial MM.2 () RE: Kimiko, Coroner's Circle () ATTN: Coroner's Circle
{CW: intense meltdown, swearing}
...welp. That hadn't worked. Unfortunately, the only aliens Yumie really could gauge the abilities of were grey skinned and fictional, not horrific and right there with them. And ugh, why did they have to tear it apart on specifics? She wasn't trying to be morally superior, she was tossing out a theory. Hoshimi themself might've never been too violent, but they were well aware of what her two friends had done, right? Wouldn't it have made sense to guess that Yumie meant their brood in general, not Hoshimi specifically? And during the investigations, when it wasn't immediately clear that the killer had killed! Naturally the killer would try to act disgusted or something so their crime wasn't pointing to them like a giant billboard! Yumie grumbled to herself in frustration. What she'd said hadn't matched what she'd meant, but as far as she knew, what she'd meant should've been clear. She realized then the gravity and skill of Robin's work as editor -- kudos to him.
But here was Neo, with his theory, their clincher, hopefully enough to make him crack...
...so that was wrong too. Rats. Now where did that leave them all? The one who the evidence had implicated so strongly wasn't involved in the way that they'd thought he'd been, and she could sort of understand where he was coming from...though, in her personal experience, she'd found that acting came a bit easier when you paid really careful attention to everyone, what they were doing, and what subsequently happened, then made sure to remember all that for when you had to potentially copy it. Of course, following Akira's lead had helped in that regard, and Arthur probably hadn't had anyone like that.
Okay, so he was telling the truth. But then what? The counter-plan the coroner had proposed seemed ridiculous to Yumie, which is why she'd been so quick to think it a last-ditch attempt to save his own skin. What else did they have? What else could they do?
A...attack Neo, apparently? What? So proposing a possible theory and reason is deplorable now? Or were that many of the students really on Arthur's side? Either way, it was absolutely bewildering to her. Her breaths grew quicker as she watched it all go on, and she gripped at her podium. This was too bizarre! It didn't make sense! Was she in the Twilight Zone or some -- nope, wait, bad question to ask here. In any case, Yumie was getting more and more agitated, and she couldn't stay quiet anymore.
"[JEGUS!] Stop it, all of you! Just shut up! It's like you people have all never been wrong before in your lives! [Fuck's SAKE!]" She had to take a couple of harsh, quick breaths before continuing. "Okay, we were wrong. I see that now. But we were throwing something out there, okay? Sure, maybe it didn't work, but it was something! It was a thought! It seemed plausible! And it's a lot more than you all seemed to be doing!"
She pointed at Kimiko especially with that last sentence. "If you have to ask what sort of evidence there was and what it means, I don't really think you're in a position to criticize people for 'not contributing to the debate.' And it was an honest to god contribution! Now we know for sure that that's not the case! We've got more in the way of proof now that he didn't sell us out, other than just his cheap-ass word!
"And would you please just shut up about Morita-sensei? I honestly think he's the least important mystery out of all the shit we have to untangle here! If these fuckasses can whisk twenty kids alone away to a different dimension by train without any of them noticing? I think they're more than capable of beaming away a teacher, or making sure he didn't come along! If you wanted us to focus on something else, then why did you even bring him up in the first place? Why did you open your fucking...hole...that, has fangs in it, to just say that!"
She didn't really have anything to say to Gernot, he was practically preaching to the damn choir at this point! And as for Hoshimi and those other two...!
...she...she needed to calm down so she could ask them. there's no way they'd answer her questions if she was screaming at them like this. she had to pull herself together. pull herself together, pull herself togehther , pull herself toghether...
It took much longer than she would've liked, but eventually, the storm blew over, and she could ask the question. She looked up at Hoshimi, Joss, and Arthur, her face still flushed and tear-streaked. "I...I don't understand...what...what you're suggesting. You want us to vote for the Benefactors...but, uh...what will that do? Are we trusting...th-them to execute them, selves? Or is that just an Ultra-40...opening, thing, for them to come in? It won't execute anyone, that's good, but it...seems...uh, uhh, figurehead-y? Symbolic? I, I don't...see what voting for them is supposed to do...What's your logic? If you say something about that, I'll probably understand better."
