So I, an Adult, only got drawn into School Spirits (2023) because the first episode title was a My So-Called Life pun (and also it turns out the pun is a plot hint!) and now I can’t stop thinking about an AU where the characters from My So Called Life go through the plot of School Spirits, with Angela disappearing mysteriously and waking up as a ghost. This post is definitely for an audience of me, but the AU works surprisingly well, so here goes.

The My So-Called Life x School Spirits AU:

- Angela is Maddie

- Jordan Catalano is Xavier (Bad Boy BF who cheats on Angela/Maddie)

- Rayanne Graff is Claire (former friend of Angela/Maddie who sleeps with her boyfriend)

- Brian Krakow is Simon (long-haired best friend who wears a lot of nerdy sweaters and is secretly in love with Angela/Maddie)

- I guess Sharon Cherski is Nicole? Friendship on the rocks, character who may never repair the relationship with the main character

- Instead of Maddie’s mom, it’s Angela’s dad who’s a suspect in her murder but really he’s acting shady because he cheated on her mom (emotionally if not literally)

- The ghost boy from So-Called’s Halloween episode, which IS the best Halloween special of all time, is one of the ghost students that haunt the school and Angela befriends when she dies. Probably the Wally character but with no kiss.

- It feels almost homophobic to say that Rickie Vasquez is Charley, but like… he kinda has to be? (This kills me, nothing bad should EVER happen to Rickie Vasquez. Or Charley, tbh. I’m actually so sorry, my poor boys.)

- The only problem is this AU makes it so Angela, Rayanne, and Rickie can never be an actual friend group all three of them, which crushes my heart, but it can’t be helped. :(
