Whilst the library codes employ one really to be aware of the name of the publication to see inside the library, then the domain name IP addresses additionally work marginally such a manner.
Ah, however, what's just a domain IP speech? Or, how an IP speech Generally? For its own information, the term IP means Internet Protocol. That really is the so-called domain name IP address because this is the numerical speech of almost any domain name online. Since it's normally noticed, domain IP addresses really are substantially similar to telephone amounts. I'm certain you are aware there's really a familiar name recorded from the phone book that's related to a lengthy series of numerals regarding a certain telephone number.
Basically, a website IP address can be some four amounts that can be broken up with arrows. Specifically, the domain name IP address appears like 203.23.56.166, and also all among these simple numbers might be between 1 and 255. Exactly enjoy the cited part of their phone numbers and also the mention amounts from the library, the domain name IP speech is supposed to be that relevant from the world wide web. For some type of computer system in order to be situated by another computer systems around the world wide web, it's very important it has to possess its domain IP speech that's different compared to other individuals.
Together with all the domain name IP addresses, you now might have the independence to variety either domain or your IP address into an internet browser and you'll unquestionably observe precisely the exact same webpage. It's for that main reason that once you sort a domain into the internet browser, then the Internet company or ISP will subsequently hunt the affiliated IP address into their Domain Name System server. That's how a domain name IP address operates.
Right after we discuss domain, we're fundamentally speaking about an address of the internet site that's primarily designed for straightforward and fast identification. Discussing those user-friendly addresses for internet sites, these assists join computers and people online.

Therefore, thus it is crucial that your domain must possess a fitting IP address in order for this to operate properly. Additionally, this is one of the most useful reasons which show how a domain and IP are all connected. DOMAIN NAME SERVERS- THE BASICS
Technically, domains are not essential to obtain an internet web site. That really is only because of or with them, all internet sites might be retrieved with their own corresponding IP address. What's the IP? It's a 32bit numerical identifier that signals exactly the what system that a site is around. The one issue is the fact that for many people those amounts, (that arrive in a set of 4 octets), might be particularly tough to consider. This can be the reason why domains are made. Using a site a person could get into an internet site by means of a sentence or term, that supplies far greater advantage than simply inheriting octets.
To sum up, the domain name server is thought of that the core of domain functioning. Without these, there wouldn't be any way that a domain name would be related to an IP, and that's what's responsible for pinpointing computers to your system. That doesn't signify it truly is vital to get a hosting firm to spend money on one, especially as you can find all those inexpensive domain services that they are able to use rather than But should they can buy yourself a domain server, they'd be able to market hosting in addition to domains with their clients.
for domain names to perform, they need to utilize domain servers, (also called DNS). All these are exclusive machines that save data regarding domains and also the IP addresses that they tip out. It does so by way of a procedure called reverse mapping. What goes on is that following having a domain is input, the domain name server may appear its own corresponding IP at a listing service. It's also going to correspond to additional domain services to determine whether they've'comprehension' of their IP address. The following procedure is called a distributed database, so due to the fact, no official' thing is trustworthy for upgrading info regarding additional domain servers.
A domain server has to even have client personal computers that will help run its own performance. These customer machines are known as name servers and resolvers. Name servers are liable to get a website name IP. Even the resolvers, on the opposite side, merchants alist of the other name servers online. This checklist has been utilized to contact those name servers if a domain name 's IP address not to be saved from the very first domain server.
If an internet hosting company annoyance about buying into a website server? It's dependent upon how huge their performance is. Smaller-scale web-hosting organizations probably won't receive far from this kind of investment decision. However, when a business would like to reach the sort of standing which internet sites such as Godaddy.com have reached, it may possibly wish to look at paying the cash. Organizations can obtain domain servers out of businesses that sell routine servers.
How does a computer system be turned into a domain server? It must conduct a DNS program. Even the absolute most frequently encountered DNS software is BIND, (which represents Berkeley Internet Name Domain). This, (and different sorts of DNS applications ), performs in a hierarchal way. The start of the hierarchy comprises the personality". It's known as the machine's origin. Under the origin, there would be the domain such as .com, .org, .net or even .biz.

Domain Name Server
DNS (Domain Name Server)
A DNS server may be a pc server that contains a information of public ip addresses and their associated hostnames, and in most cases, serves to resolve, or translate, those common names to ip addresses as requested.
DNS servers run special computer code and communicate with one another mistreatment special protocols.
Requirement:
Every host is understood by the ip address but memory numbers is unbelievably powerful for the people and in addition the ip addresses are not static so a mapping is required to change the name to ip address. So, DNS is utilized to convert the name of the websites to their numerical ip address.
Different types of domains:
1.Generic domain: .com(commercial) .edu(educational) .mil(military) .org (non-profit organization) .net (similar to commercial)
2.Country domain reminiscent of .in .us .uk
3.Inverse domain if we tend to would like to understand what is the name of the net web site. ip to call mapping.
Organization of Domain:
It is really powerful to hunt out the ip address associated to a web site as a result of their area unit numberless websites and with all those websites we should be able to generate the ip address instantly, there mustn't be many delay for that to happen organization of information is unbelievably necessary.
DSN record – name, ip address what is the validity?? what is the time to live ?? and each one the information relating to that name. These records are keep in an exceedingly tree like structure.
Namespace – Set of gettable names, flat or stratified. Naming system maintains a gaggle of bindings of names to values – given a name, a resolution mechanism returns the corresponding value –
Name server – it's Associate in Nursing implementation of the resolution mechanism. DNS (Domain Name System) = Name service in net – Zone is Associate in Nursing unit, domain is also a subtree.
Name to handle Resolution:
The host request the DNS name server to resolve the name. and also, the name server returns the ip address like that name to the host that the host can future connect therewith ip address.
Hierarchy of Name Servers:
Root name servers – it's contacted by name servers that cannot resolve the name. It contacts authoritative name server if name mapping is not acquainted. It then gets the mapping and are available the ip address to the host.
Top level server – it's answerable for com, org, edu etc and each one ranking country domains like uk, fr, ca, in etc. they have information relating to authoritative domain servers and apprehend names and ip addresses of each authoritative name server for the second level domains.
More data on DNS Servers:
In most cases, 2 DNS servers, a primary and a secondary server, square measure mechanically organized on your router and/or pc once connecting to your ISP via DHCP. you'll be able to tack together 2 DNS servers just in case one in all them happens to fail, when that the device can resort to mistreatment the secondary server.
Some DNS servers might give quicker access times than others however it depends alone on however long it takes your device to achieve the DNS server. If your ISP's DNS servers square measure nearer than Google's, maybe, then you would possibly realize that addresses square measure resolved faster mistreatment the default servers from your ISP than with a third-party server.
If you are experiencing network problems wherever it appears as if no web site can load, it's doable that there is a difficulty with the DNS server. If the DNS server is not ready to realize the right ip address that is related to the hostname you enter, the web site will not load. Again, will be} as a result of computers communicate via ip addresses associated not hostnames - the pc does not recognize what you are attempting to achieve unless it can use an ip address.

Building an online presence is like running a marathon. Those exhausting 26.2 miles require long-time endurance built over months of training. Marathoners train one step at a time and complete one mile at a time.
This guide is your training plan.
As your trusty web host and coach, we’re here to keep you on track as you build, grow, secure, and promote your new site. We’ve broken this website workout plan into goals and tasks to complete each quarter throughout 2020, but feel free to work at your own pace. You do the sweating, and we’ll be right beside you with step-by-step instructions, water cups, and cheese-tastic motivational signs.
· Build Your Website
· Grow Your Website
· Secure Your Website
· Promote Your Website
Step 1: Decide on Your Mission
Ready to race right off the starting block into building your website? We love the enthusiasm. But before even reaching the starting line, you need to get in some warm-ups and conditioning to establish a solid foundation. Every good website begins with a thoughtful plan. Open a fresh new digital doc (or grab a pen and paper if you’d prefer to go old school) and complete the following exercises.
Find Your Purpose
Why do you want a website in the first place? What do you hope it will accomplish? Ask yourself, “What is the purpose of this website?”
· Are you looking to sell a product?
· To share your art or writing portfolio?
· To share your thoughts on a blog?
· To promote your new business?
· Create an online home for your brick-and-mortar store?
Set Goals
Time to dive deeper into the reflecting and set some specific goals for your website. Grab your pen (or ready your typing fingers) and, below your website’s purpose, jot down a few goals. There are lots of options.
Outline Your Content
You probably shouldn’t bake a cake without a recipe. Likewise, you can’t build your website until you know what components you need to make it a success. So, go ahead and outline your content to make sure you hit your goals. Consider these components:
Start with your website’s menu. What should its offerings include? And in what order? Rank what’s most important to you — and your goals — at the top.
Do you want to include a blog? This will be helpful for search engine optimization (SEO) — more on that in a minute — encourage engagement and community, build your reputation, and establish you as an expert. If the blog is the cornerstone of your site, take some time to outline (or, for overachievers, write) your first few posts and plan some topics you might write about over the next year.
The “About Me” page is your place to tell your story and describe your business. Don’t skip out on this chance to connect with your customers.
Step 2: Choose a Domain and Platform
Ready. Get set. We are inching closer to launching your website, but before we can get going, it first needs a name and a place to live.
Pick a Domain Name
Basically, a domain is what you type into the bar at the top of your browser to point to a specific website. A domain consists of two parts:
The top-level domain (TLD)- The more common TLDs include .com, .net, .org, .info. You can even choose something jazzier, like one of the new TLDs:. party, .site, .pizza, .limo, .store, and more. At least for now, though, .com is still the most common TLD.
The second-level domain (SLD) — This is the keyword that will serve as the address for your website. Make sure it is specific, descriptive, and memorable so that customers can easily find and remember it.
Pick a Hosting Plan
If your domain name is your website’s address, hosting is the physical space (spoiler: a server) where your website lives. The hosting plan you choose for your website will impact many things — like how fast your site loads and what kind of maintenance you have to do.
For beginners, we recommend shared hosting. It is affordable, fast, and meets the needs of any basic website (and includes a free domain registration!). You can always upgrade as your website grows.
Step 3: Design and Launch
OK — with a set of goals, a content outline, a domain, web hosting, and a platform picked for your new website, it is finally time to get building!
You can also take help of a website development company India to get a professional and attractive website designed for your business.

Beginner’s Guide: What is a Domain Name and How Do Domains Work?
We are often asked by beginners: what is a domain name and how do domains work? If you are a beginner, then you may have heard that you need a domain to make a website.
However, many beginners confuse domain name with a website or website hosting service. If you are just starting out, then all these different terms may sound too technical.
In this beginner’s guide, we will answer what is a domain name and how domains work. The goal is to help you understand and choose the right domain name for your website.
Here is a quick overview of the topics we will cover in this guide.
What is a domain name?
How domains work?
How is domain name different from website and web hosting?
Different types of domain names
Who is responsible for the domain name system?
How to choose a domain name
How to buy a domain name
Frequently asked questions about domain names
What is a Domain Name?
Domain name is the address of your website that people type in the browser URL bar to visit your website.
In simple terms, if your website was a house, then your domain name will be its address.
A more detailed explanation:
The Internet is a giant network of computers connected to each other through a global network of cables. Each computer on this network can communicate with other computers.
To identify them, each computer is assigned an IP address. It is a series of numbers that identify a particular computer on the internet. A typical IP address looks like this:
66.249.66.1
Now an IP address like this is quite difficult to remember. Imagine if you had to use such numbers to visit your favorite websites.
Domain names were invented to solve this problem.
Now if you want to visit a website, then you don’t need to enter a long string of numbers. Instead, you can visit it by typing an easy to remember domain name in your browser’s address bar. For example, wpbeginner.com.
How Domain Names Actually Work?
To understand how domain names actually work, we will take a look at what happens when you enter it in your browser.
When you enter a domain name in your web browser, it first sends a request to a global network of servers that form the Domain Name System (DNS).
These servers then look up for the name servers associated with the domain and forward the request to those name servers.
For example, if your website is hosted on Bluehost, then its name server information will be like this:
ns1.bluehost.com ns2.bluehost.com
These name servers are computers managed by your hosting company. Your hosting company will forward your request to the computer where your website is stored.
This computer is called a web server. It has special software installed (Apache, Nginx are two popular web server software). The web server now fetches the web page and pieces of information associated with it.
Finally, it then sends this data back to the browser.
How is Domain Name Different from a Website and Web Hosting?
A website is made up of files like HTML pages, website builder software, images, and more.
If the domain name is the web address of your website, then web hosting is the home where your website lives.
This is the actual computer where your website’s files are stored. Such computers are called servers and they are offered as a service by hosting companies.
To create your website, you need both domain name and web hosting.
However, it’s important to remember that they are two separate services, and you can buy them from two different companies.
Now you may be wondering, how would it work if you bought them from two separate companies?
You just need to edit your domain name settings and enter the Name Server information provided by your hosting company. Name Server information defines where to send user requests for your domain name.
We recommend getting both your domain name and hosting from the same company. This allows you to easily manage them under the same account.
For more details, see our guide on the difference between domain name and web hosting.
Different Types of Domain Names
Domain names are available in many different extensions. The most popular one is .com. There are many other options like .org, .net, .tv, .info, .io, and more. However we always recommend using .com domain extension.
Let’s take a more detailed look at different types of domain names available.
Top Level Domain – TLD
Top level domain or TLD are generic domain extensions that are listed at the highest level in the domain name system.
There are hundreds of TLDs, but the most popular ones are .com, .org, and .net. Other TLDs are lesser known and we don’t recommend using them. For example, .biz, .club, .info, .agency, and many more.
Country Code Top Level Domain – ccTLD
Country code top-level domain or ccTLD are country specific domain names which end with country code extension like .uk for the United Kingdom, .de for Germany, .in for India.
They are used by websites that want to target audiences in a specific country.
Sponsored Top Level Domain – sTLD
Sponsored top-level domain or sTLD is a category of TLDs that has a sponsor representing a specific community served by the domain extension.
For example, .edu for education-related organizations, .gov for the United States government, .mil for the United States military, and more.
Who is Responsible for Domain Name System?
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) manages the domain names system. It is a non-profit organization that creates and implements the policies for domain names.
ICANN gives permission to companies called Domain Name Registrars for selling domain names. These domain registrars are allowed to make changes to domain names registry on your behalf.
Domain name registrars can sell domain names, manage its records, renewals, and transfers to other registrars.
As a domain name owner, you are responsible for telling the registrar where to send requests. You are also responsible for renewing your domain registration.
How to Choose a Domain Name for Your Website?
There are currently more than 350 Million registered domain names and thousands more get registered each day.
This means that all the good ones are already registered or will be registered very soon. This puts a lot of pressure on new users to come up with a domain idea for their website.
Here are some quick tips to help you choose a domain name for your next website.

However, buying domain does not automatically give you hosting service. For that, you will need a website hosting account as well.
Many WordPress hosting companies offer domain registration services as well. This allows you to manage both services under one account, and you also don’t need to worry about changing name server settings for your domain.
We recommend using Bluehost. They are offering WPBeginner users a free domain name and 60% discount on hosting. Basically you can get started for $2.75/month.
Frequently Asked Questions About Domain Names
Over the years we have helped thousands of beginners start their first websites. We have heard almost every possible question about domain names that you can think of.
Following are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about domain names.
1. What is a subdomain?
A subdomain is basically a child domain under the main domain name. For example, videos.wpbeginner.com is a subdomain of wpbeginner.com.
Once you register a domain, you have the permission to create subdomains for it by yourself.
Subdomains are commonly used by websites to create child-sites under the same domain name. For example, a business website can create a subdomain for their blog or their online store as store.example.com or blog.example.com
2. Can I cancel my registration of a domain name?
Some domain registrars allow you to cancel your domain registration at any time. If you cancel your registration, it will become available for others to register.
Other domain name registrars allow you to simply let your domain registration expire.
In most cases, you will not get any refund for the domain registration. However, some domain registrars do have refund policies which you may want to discuss with them before canceling your registration.
If you don’t have the auto-renew feature turned on, then your domain name will simply expire after the registration period you have paid for.
3. Can I move my website to a different domain name?
Yes, you can. You can point your domain name to your hosting server. You can also keep both domain names pointing to the same website.
However, search engines consider it duplicate content and that will affect your search rankings.
We have a step by step guide on how to properly move a website to new domain name and setup redirects, so you don’t hurt your SEO.
4. Can I sell a domain name?
Yes, you can sell your domain name. Domain names are like real estate for web. There is a huge demand for good brandable domain names.
Trading domain names is a multi-million dollar industry. Since domain names are so cheap, smart entrepreneurs are always looking for great domain name ideas to get their hands own.
If you want to sell your domain name, then there are many marketplace websites like Sedo, GoDaddy, and others where you can list your domain for sale.
Popular registrars like Domain.com also let you buy premium domains right from their domain search feature.
5. What is domain privacy? Do I need it?
ICANN requires people registering domain names to provide an email, physical address, phone number, and other personal information to be made available publicly.
Domain Privacy is a separate add-on service sold by domain registrars. It allows you to show proxy information instead of your actual personal info.
You don’t need to buy domain privacy if you don’t want to. However if you are concerned about privacy, then you can buy this service for a small cost.
6. Can I buy more than one domain name?
Yes, you can buy as many domain names as you like.

Stick with a .com domain name as it is the most popular, easy to remember, and easy promote.
Make sure it is shorter and easy to remember
Make it easy to pronounce and spell
Do not use numbers or hyphens
Use domain name generators to come up with clever domain name ideas
For more tips and practical advice, see our guide on how to choose the best domain name for your website.
How to Buy a Domain Name?
You can buy domain names from one of the many domain name registrars. A domain name typically costs 14.99 per year. Some popular domain name companies are:
Domain.com
GoDaddy
However, buying domain does not automatically give you hosting service. For that, you will need a website hosting account as well.
Many WordPress hosting companies offer domain registration services as well. This allows you to manage both services under one account, and you also don’t need to worry about changing name server settings for your domain.
We recommend using Bluehost. They are offering WPBeginner users a free domain name and 60% discount on hosting. Basically you can get started for $2.75/month.

How Do I Send a DMCA Take Down Notice?
A DMCA take-down notice is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to have your copyright protected materials removed from a website hosting company servers, or a search index on Yahoo, Google, or Bing. The first thing you need to know about how to send a DMCA notice is that you must be the copyright owner in order to send the notice. The copyright owner is typically the person who put their fingers to the keyboard, their finger to the click button on the camera, or their pen to paper. The person who is the author of the work is most often the copyright owner. Sometimes the copyright owner will license or sign their interest to an employer or third party which may then have the impact of transferring the copyright to someone who is not the author.
The next thing you need to understand about how to send a DMCA take-down notice is who to send it to. As noted above, any third party who is a service provider with a DMCA copyright policy is potentially a target for a DMCA notice letter. So, for instance, the company hosting the website is often the primary DMCA notice target. People don’t realize they can also send a DMCA notice to Google, Yahoo, and Bing in order to have their materials removed from the search index. That often gets the job done since the infringing material doesn’t come back on search.
You must strictly follow the DMCA take-down policy and rules set forth by the third party provider in order to successfully remove copyright protected materials from the internet. If a provider does not have a DMCA policy, then they may not have immunity from copyright infringement claims. This means you could send a copyright infringement threat letter directly to that third party provider unprotected by DMCA immunity provisions.

An experienced DMCA attorney can help you understand how to send a DMCA take-down notice, who to send it to and what to expect by way of response. Understanding how to send a DMCA notice correctly will save you a lot of time and money down the road.
VARIATIONS OF CYBERSQUATTING
While you may know what cybersquatting is generally and what potential legal action you can take for remedies under the Anticybersquatting Protection Act (“ACPA”), not knowing specific techniques used by cybersquatters may leave you unaware that you are currently being or have been a victim of cybersquatting. Cybersquatters use a variety of techniques to benefit from your trademark, so it is important for you to understand the variations of a cybersquatting in order to identify if your trademark has been illegally infringed upon by a cybersquatter.
One common form of cybersquatting is typosquatting. Typosquatting as a practice can be defined through a few different methods, which include misspelling or phrasing, as well as using a separate top-level domain (TLD). Misspelling or phrasing occurs when cybersquatters change the spelling of words or phrases slightly to benefit from internet users common typing mistakes to attract attention to a fake domain based on a misspelled legitimate domain, such as traverslegal.com instead of traverselegal.com. Notice the missing “e” in the first spelling? If not, you aren’t alone.
Another variation of typosquatting is top-level domain swapping by simply changing a .com domain to a separate TLD domain such as .org, or .net. A notable example was whitehouse.com, which adversely affected whitehouse.gov by displaying pornographic material. Mistakes in knowing which TLD is associated with a site like this are common, and cybersquatters take advantage of these mistakes by setting up a fake website cosmetically designed to imitate the original, and adversely affect your trademark by stealing your web traffic, compel you to buy the cybersquatted domain, or simply by spreading malware using your brand name.
Another form of Cybersquatting is a type of Identity theft associated with the registration of domain names. There are software products that a cybersquatter can use to monitor domain registration expiration, and if the domain is not renewed in time, they can purchase that domain, and either imitate your website to make your site’s visitors believe that the cybersquatter is you, or perhaps worse a website with your competitor’s products or services and redirect them to that site or advertisements that contain your competitor’s products or services.
A final type of cybersquatting is known as reverse cybersquatting or otherwise known as reverse domain hijacking. This is the practice of brand owners attempting to secure a domain name legally owned by another person and who is not otherwise a cybersquatter. A brand owner may claim that they own the rights to your domain, and threaten legal action unless you transfer that domain over to them. This practice by the brand owner is often perpetrated by large companies or famous individuals and is an abuse of their trademark rights making wrongful claims against your rightfully held domain name.

Registering Your Domain Name
Registering your domain name is the first step in establishing your online presence and reaching visitors and potential customers. I'll show you how to create and register your domain, avoid some of the pitfalls and stumbling blocks that can arise, and choose the best domain name to make sure that your site reaches the most people.
Why Register A Domain Name?
Registering your domain name requires choosing and purchasing a unique name. It allows you to secure your unique domain name so only you can use it to build a site or create a custom email. It is an extremely important part of designing your website, because that becomes the name and brand of your website. To buy a domain name, you can do so directly from your web hosting provider or through a separate domain name service (a recommended option for those using their own servers). Your domain is what you type into your web browser's navigation bar to take you to your site. For example, our domain is www.techshrewd.com.ng. People sometimes refer to the domain name as the URL or website.
How Do You Register A Domain Name?
When you register a domain name, you pay a registrar to secure the domain on your behalf from a registry. Each TLD (Top Level Domain) such as .COM, .NET, .NINJA, etc has their own registry that controls all their names. Registering a domain name means you are securing it for a set amount of time, usually a year. You can renew the domain indefinitely so it stays in your possession. However, you can only register it for as long as the registrar allows, which is usually a max of 10 years. Once you've wisely determined that building a website is an essential part of your business, you need to make another important decision: What's your domain name going to be? You know, it's the .com Web address by which all your (hopefully) many customers will find you. Furthermore, how do you go about staking your claim for it? Purchasing a name is a relatively simple process (although finding one that isn't already taken can be a challenge), but there are many factors that you should consider. Since your domain name is, in effect, the name of your website, you want to make sure you get a good one. But what makes a good one? And since it's also the address of your website, you want to make sure you understand the contract between you and the domain name registrar. Is it starting to sound a little more complicated? Don't worry: This primer can help you get started. Definition Of A Domain Name Domain names put a friendly face on hard-to-remember numeric Internet addresses. Every computer on the Internet has a unique Internet Protocol (IP) number. A domain name represents one IP number or more. For example, the IP number for the domain name techshrewd.com.ng could be 107.134.178.24 (Don't expect me to use my actual IP address. lol). The whole purpose is to give users an easy-to-remember handle so that when sending an e-mail to, let's say, the administrator of techshrewd.com.ng, you can type [email protected] instead of [email protected]. Anyone can buy a domain name. To do so, you visit a domain name registrar, such as QServers, key in the domain you want to buy, and pay a fee. You can't buy just any domain, of course—only one that isn't already registered by another person or business and that bears a valid domain suffix. In general, you'll want to buy something that is catchy and short so that it's both easy for people to remember, and easy for them to type in. You might discover that most of the shortest and catchiest names are already taken, especially if you are entering a niche that is well represented on the web space. To make things even more difficult, cyber squatters most times scoop these attractive names as an investment with a view of re-selling them later to legitimate would be site owners. Suffix Factor The suffix identifies the name as belonging to a specific top-level domain (TLD). As at this date, there are more than one thousand (1,000) TLDs available in the whole world. The most common TLDs include; .com, .edu, .net, .org, .tv, e.t.c. The most popular of these by far is .com, which is supposed to indicate commercial sites, but in reality has come to include almost everything. Web Hosts and Domain Names You needn't go to a dedicated registration service to buy a domain name, though. Web hosting services such as Qservers, DreamHost and HostGator, routinely offer a registration mechanism as part of the sign-up process. Hosting services typically offer a free domain name when you sign up for a Web hosting package. Keep in mind, however, that free domain names are usually free only for one or two years, after which the registrar will bill you for the annual or biennial fee. In other words, the provider of the free domain name pays only for the first billing from the registrar. Also take note of whether or not the provider charges a fee for setting up a domain name. Most services offer to transfer an existing domain name to their servers at no cost, but sometimes you'll find a setup fee over and above the registrar's fee Registrars offer a wide variety of registration durations—one year, three, five, and even ten. Be careful about registering for more than a year, though. First, there might be restrictions on your ability to transfer the domain name should the registrar give poor service. Second, the registrar could go out of business, leaving your domain name without a host. Check the policies closely. Domain Contract There is common notion that once bought, a domain name is our forever under all circumstances whatsoever. This is not necessarily the case. Be absolutely certain to research what you're getting before you pay. The contract you sign with the registrar could affect you in a number of ways. Many registrars reserve the right to revoke your domain name for specific reasons, typically if you use the domain for illegal purposes or purposes deemed unacceptable (such as spamming). Many contracts contain a clause letting the registrar delete your domain name for no apparent reason. The implication, of course, is that the domain name is the registrar's, not yours. Furthermore, practically all registrars reserve the right to make changes to the registration agreement whenever they wish and without letting you know. The point is that every registrar needs to be checked out carefully. The Hold - Up Even when you register and pay for your domain name, you won't necessarily be able to use the name for several hours or even a few days. The domain must propagate, meaning that the official domain name registry must be updated with your website's Domain Name System information. That's something that occurs on the backend without any need of input from you. Some registrars promise to have the name up nearly immediately, but the delay can be up to seven days. Typically, though, you should expect to see the domain name up and running on the Web within 48 hours. Note that you can also transfer your domain name from one registration service to another. You'll want to do this if you're not satisfied with your current domain hosting service, if you find a better deal when your current registration is coming due, or, most likely, if you've signed up with a Web hosting service that will also transfer your name to its site. Expect to get the transfer for free, but if that isn't offered, search for another domain hosting service. Under no circumstances should you pay more to transfer a name than to get a new one. Check what the transfer will require. Does the new service handle the task completely? Or do you have to go into your current registrar's site and change the technical details manually? Finally, check the transfer policy of the registrar before registering your domain name. Typically, you can't transfer a name during the first 60 days after registration, but the period could be much longer. Don't expect any registrar to refund money you've paid for months of service you won't use. Read the full article

The Secrets of Relevancy
Check out latest article on http://www.bjweb.com/the-secrets-of-relevancy/
The Secrets of Relevancy
In the previous section, we discussed how popular pages (as judged by links) rank higher. By this logic, you might expect that the Internet’s most popular pages would rank for everything. To a certain extent they do (thinkWikipedia!), but the reason they don’t dominate the rankings for every search result page is that search engines put a lot of emphasis on determining relevancy.
Text Is the Currency of the Internet
Relevancy is the measurement of the theoretical distance between two corresponding items with regards to relationship. Luckily for Google and Microsoft, modern-day computers are quite good at calculating this measurement for text.
By my estimations, Google owns and operates well over a million servers. The electricity to power these servers is likely one of Google’s larger operating expenses. This energy limitation has helped shape modern search engines by putting text analysis at the forefront of search.Quite simply, it takes less computing power and is much simpler programmatically to determine relevancy between a text query and a text document than it is between a text query and an image or video file. This isthe reason why text results are so much more prominent in search results than videos and images.
So what does this emphasis on textual content mean for SEOs?
To me,it indicates that my time is better spent optimizing text than images orvideos. This strategy will likely have to change in the future as computers get more powerful and energy efficient, but for right now text should be every SEO’s primary focus.
This is especially true until Google finds better ways to interpret and grade non-textual media.
But Why Content?
The most basic structure a functional website could take would be a blank page with a URL. For example purposes, pretend your blank page is on the fake domain www.WhatIsJessicaSimpsonThinking.com. (Get it? It is a blank page.) Unfortunately for the search engines, clues like top-level domains (.com, .org, and so on), domain owners (WHOIS records), code validation, and copyright dates are poor signals for determining relevancy. This means your page with the dumb domain name needs some content before it is able to rank in search engines.
The search engines must use their analysis of content as their primary indication of relevancy for determining rankings for a given search query. For SEOs, this means the content on a given page is essential for manipulating—that is, earning—rankings. In the old days of AltaVista and other search engines, SEOs would just need to write “Jessica Simpson”hundreds times on the site to make it rank #1 for that query. What could be more relevant for the query “Jessica Simpson” than a page that says Jessica Simpson 100 times? (Clever SEOs will realize the answer is a page that says “Jessica Simpson” 101 times.)
This metric, called keyword density, was quickly manipulated, and the search engines of the time diluted the power of this metric on rankings until it became almost useless. Similar dilution has happened to the keywords meta tag, somekinds of internal links, and H1 tags. Despite being more sophisticated, modern-day search engines still work essentially the same way they did in the past—by analyzing content on the page.
Hey, Ben Stein, thanks for the history lesson, but how does this apply to modern search engines?
The funny thing is that modern-day search engines still work essentially the same way they did back in the time of keyword density.
The big difference is that they are now much more sophisticated. Instead of simply counting the number of times a word or phrase is on a webpage, they use natural language processing algorithms and other signals on a page to determine relevancy.
For example, it is now fairly trivial for search engines to determine that a piece of content is about Jessica Simpson if it mentions related phrases like “Nick Lachey” (her ex husband),“Ashlee Simpson” (her sister), and “Chicken of the Sea” (she is infamous for thinking the tuna brand “Chicken of the Sea” was made from chicken).
The engines can do this for a multitude of languages and with astonishing accuracy.
Don’t believe me?
Try going to Google right now and searching related:www.jessicasimpson.com.
If your results are like mine, you will see websites about her movies, songs, and sister. Computers are amazing things. In addition to the words on a page, search engines use signals like image meta information (alt attribute), link profile and site architecture, and information hierarchy to determine how relevant a given page that mentions “Jessica” is to a search query for “The Simpsons.”
Link Relevancy
As search engines matured, they started identifying more metrics for determining rankings. One that stood out among the rest was link relevancy.
The difference between link relevancy and link popularity (discussed in the previous section) is that link relevancy does not take into account the power of the link. Instead, it is a natural phenomenon that works when people link out to other content. Let me give you an example of how it works. Say I own a blog where Iwrite about whiteboard markers. (Yes, I did just look around my office for an example to use, and yes, there are actually people who blog about whiteboard markers. I checked.)
Ever inclined to learn more about my passion for these magical writing utensils, I spend part of my day reading online what other people have to say about whiteboard markers. On my hypothetical online reading journey, I find an article about the psychological effects of marker color choice. Excited, I go back to my website to blog about the article so (both of) my friends can read about it.
Now here is the critical takeaway. When I write the blog post and link to the article, I get to choose the anchor text. I could choose something like “clickhere,” but more likely I choose something that it is relevant to the article. In this case I choose “psychological effects of marker color choice.”Someone else who links to the article might use the link anchor text“ marker color choice and the effect on the brain.”People have a tendency to link to content using the anchor text of either the domain name or the title of the page. Use this to your advantage by including keywords you want to rank for in these two elements. This human-powered information is essential to modern-day search engines. These descriptions are relatively unbiased and produced by real people. This metric, in combination with complicated natural language processing, makes up the lion’s share of relevancy indicators online.
Other important relevancy indicators are link sources and information hierarchy. For example, the search engines can also use the fact that Ilinked to the color choice article from a blog about whiteboard markers to supplement their understanding of relevancy. Similarly, they can use the fact that the original article was located at the URL www.example.com/vision/color/ to determine the high-level positioning and relevancy of the content.
As you will find out later on this website, these secrets are essential for SEOs to do their job. Beyond specific anchor text, proximal text—the certain number of characters preceding and following the link itself—have some value. Something that’s logical, but annoying is when people use a verb as anchor text, such as “Frank said . . . “ or “Jennifer wrote . . .“, using “said” or“wrote” as the anchor text pointing back to the post. In a situation like that, engines have figured out how to apply the context of the surrounding copy to the link.
Tying Together Popularity and Relevancy
So far, we have discussed both popularity and relevancy. These two concepts make up the bulk of Search Engine Optimization theory. They have been present since the beginning of search engines and undoubtedly will be important in the future. The way they are determinedand the relationship between them changes, but they are both fundamental to determining search results.
Popularity and relevancy are the two concepts that make up the bulk of Search Engine Optimization theory. This fact is critical to SEOs. We have very little control over how the major search engines operate, yet somehow we are supposed to keep our jobs. Luckily, these immutable laws of popularity and relevance govern search engines and provide us with some job security.
Summary
In this issue, I explained the concepts of popularity and relevancy in relation to modern search engines. This information, along with your prior SEO experience, will make up the foundation for all of the SEO secrets and knowledge that you learn throughout from our website.
