New hobby just dropped (new hobby has been brewing for the last 3+ years)
1: 64mo blank book, aka 1/64 of a letter sized piece of paper. Total 1.5 sheets, dimensions ~1x1.5 in.
2: progress pic, the 64mo textblock. second binder clip is an attempt to make something even smaller than a 64mo
3: progress pic, the 64mo cut and folded signatures, ready to be punched and sewn
4: sticker of my bindery logo, which I designed myself :) + quarto notebook bc I made the textblock forever ago as practice, started using it as a notebook, and then figured if I was gonna use it, I should put a hard cover on it. It currently serves as my reference guide (paper size, suppliers, margins, etc).
Anyways it's so over. I'll see you in hell (WIP list)

trying to sort our simplyplural but there's enough of us that we need to use smthn like a spreadsheet to do that. but also. how tf do we sort source categories when we have so many multifictives
#like. we want to organize all of this stuff in a table and be able to sort each column to return them in alphabetical order#that way when we want to make sure a source folder has everybody in it we just sort for that particular source#but when so many of us have multiple sources how do we. sort for that#i dont want to make multiple source columns bc that will make the sorting uneven between columns#i don't want to put all the info in the same cell bc stuff that comes later in the cell won't get sorted at all#we can't just sort sources by category too bc a lot of our multifictives are entirely sourced from the same category#like our minecraft fictives who have travelled between smps in their source memories (SAUSAGE. FUCKING SOURCES GEORG)#and don't even get me started on the various tag categories that we all sort into as well like species and magic types#so many of us are hybrid species like i think a huge majority of us are multiple species at once#the easiest way we found out to do this is. write books in minecraft and copy the books into multiple sets of bookcases#but that gets so hard to keep track of after a while#and if we miss some info in a certain book we have to go through and edit or replace every single version of the book#which. oh my god. SAUSAGE. IS SO IMPOSSIBLE. SOURCES *AND* SPECIES GEORG SIR STOP#WHY ARE YOU THE ONLY AFTERLIFE FICTIVE WHO DIDN'T SPLIT OFF INTO MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF THE SAME GUY#literally the only minecraft fictive we have with ZERO doubles. even Grain has at least one double 😭😭#oh Eth also doesn't have any doubles somehow he just simultaneously exists in all worlds at once#he doesn't even have a whole timeline of where he travelled like sausage he just Shows Up Places.#how the hell did you get to the Seaside au. most of those guys are literally post-fictives and have migrated to parative instead 😭

Since I just watched it and found it interesting: Ginny Di on youtube just posted an interview she got with a WotC exec in which she had complete control over the interview. She was very cognizant of the fact that companies do these things as PR to launder their reputation, which is always good for an interviewer to know and disclose.
I think she got as much not-corporately-pre-approved, from-the-horse's-mouth answers on camera as we might get (though she does mention they'd reached out to some other d&d content creators as well to offer interviews) and it feels like a cathartic watch as far as "I didn't come away with 'we'll have to wait to find out' like a lot of the other videos discussing this stuff:
youtube
Basically she comes away with this with:
- How they responded to the backlash was pretty objectively good (releasing to the creative commons) and the explanation for their delayed response made sense;
- He admitted they're doing microtransactions and seems to have no issue with them if done "correctly" (tho he implies it'll be mainly aesthetic-based, which I doubt - a lot of microtransaction critique is about pay-to-win which you can't do here, so they might feel as tho they're not like other microtransaction games/companies and therefore immune to the criticism)
- The biggest takeaway is that this only happened because the fans responded as harshly as they did and stopped giving them money, and we should remember that.
She ends it by saying essentially that if the end goal of your boycott was for them to undo these changes, then yeah they did that. If the end goal was to feel like you can trust them: never trust them, they're a company. And if you took this boycott as an opportunity to try different game systems, definitely still pursue that because it's a good goal.
So, let’s go over everything Wizards of the Coast is trying to do this coming year.
>Erasing everything that made DnD fun
>Sanitizing everything to appease a minority of leftist puritans
>Making anyone who wants to play DnD pay microtransactions
>Making anyone who makes anything based off of DnD pay royalties to Wizards of the Coast
I hope the company fucking crashes and burns, Hasbro failed to claim TSR as their own now we just need it all to crash and burn so TSR can make a big comeback.
#dnd#video#all this said: of COURSE I'm checking out content people are sharing#there's never a downside to having multiple copies of things including maybe the same pdf#i own multiple books that I bought new#but the idea is 'assume people will always want a free version so that you strive to give people a reason to want to support you'#and I explicitly say 'support you' not 'pay you' bc the latter leads to problem-solving for 'how do we FORCE people to pay'#which leads to restricting what content you can use or integrate and checking authenticity and other such nonsense#like the various streaming networks are finding ways to force people to pay them and people resent them for it#Then DropoutTV's like 'you have monthly and yearly options; you can share with anyone; you can download videos to watch offline'#and every single person I've shared it with that uses it more as a one-off thing has gone on to get their own account#bc they like the content and the people and have no qualms about throwing $60 at them bc there's no ads and no artificial restrictions#anyway yeah they're not quite Evil they are unfortunately under the same delusions as the video game industry#and they'll experience the same negative backlash to these decisions but will be hit harder bc it's more accessible for creators#hard to make a massive intense video game without knowing a lot about video game development#but writing a campaign? designing character/monster tokens? making maps? people do that anyway for fun#these delusions will not hold well when their purely aesthetic microtransactions are threatened by memes with transparent backgrounds#I would absolutely use the yelling cat salad lady to represent a spellcasting baddie#if you read this far all I have left to say is: GO BIRDS

heyyy so there's this person who is translating your works on wattpad and I'm pretty sure you didn't give them authorization so yeah here it is
user @lvsedd and the story name is "revenge"
also they have other work (name: paradise jujutsu kaisen) with multiple translations of other authors but I couldn't find them here :/ if anyone wanna help pls
unauthorized translation/plagiarism
thank you for letting me know! and i most certainly don’t give any permission to translate anywhere, and i don’t understand spanish but they seem to copy my “the deposed empress remarries” series and make it into many chapters and retitle it as “revenge” instead
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
since june? gosh. this user lvsedd in wattpad do put me in credits as the original author but no, this is not how you do it. it’s still called stealing for your own convenience
to others out there who plan to do the same/have thoughts of plagiarism and whatnot, please stop doing this kind of things. it’s very discouraging to the original author. even tho this is just some hobby, i do put a lot of time into writing fics. this is very, very unpleasant to look at and it makes me get mixed feelings bc it’s the same as feeling your work is recognized as someone else’s. how would you feel if it happens to you?
please just be decent even in online space. you can be inspired by someone else’s works but don’t copy the whole material. the very least you can do is ask for their permission and respect it if they don’t give it. and in this case, i’ve never even been asked and to suddenly see this makes me reconsider even writing altogether bc why should i when it’s so easily stolen anyway?
and then i also checked out their oneshots library called “paradise” and found my and several other fic writers’ oneshots being copied and translated too since 2023 without credits even — THIS IS PLAIN PLAGIARISM
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is just disheartening. other fic authors please watch out for your fics in this book! and by the end of this, i’d suggest just report them altogether

Thinkin about post-Beatrix Imperium. All the dragons were released (as far as we know) so they had no power source left. And they ran entirely on dragon energy, it wasn’t a “most of our energy is from dragons, but we also do x y and z” situation, it was ONLY dragon energy. Theoretically they could go back to getting dragon energy from partnerships with dragons, but i highly doubt there will be any dragons willing to give them anything anytime soon due to Beatrix doing Literal Actual Slavery.
So, for the first months or even years post-Beatrix, is the city just kinda fucked? The last time we saw it, Percival and his teammates were in that area and he sounded pretty optimistic, but we didn’t even see the inside of the city, let alone any other citizens. It makes me wonder if there are many left, or if there was a sort of mass exodus because of what had to be severe power shortages.
And yes, Imperium is incredibly technologically advanced, so I have no doubt they’ll eventually create and implement new technology that harnesses other energy sources. But that will take time. What happens to the Imperian populace in the meantime? I seriously doubt there was any other kind of energy-harnessing/producing infrastructure to fall back on bc who KNOWS how long they’ve relied solely on dragon energy.
There’s also the option of copying or mimicking energy-harnessing tech from other regions/peoples who, you know, don’t rely 100% on a single energy source. But I feel like it would take lots of time and controversy for that to catch on with/be trusted by the average Imperian, because think about it. Even in the face of desperate need for energy in order for the city to Function, these people have had distrust and xenophobia hammered into their skulls from birth to death for what has to be multiple generations. So even if their scientists and engineers find a way to take a leaf out of other peoples’ books, (or even if someone decides to help them,) i really doubt it’ll be an instant fix. Exhibit A: Sora’s parents being distrustful of her after reuniting with her in s1, despite clear evidence of Beatrix’s corruption right in front of their faces.
And let’s think about those who did leave in search of like… homes with power and working amenities. They would be a relatively small minority in Ninjago City or the Crossroads or whatever else is Anywhere nearby. They would feel alone and distrustful of the world around them because it’s New and Scary, and even if the people are hospitable, unlearning xenophobia that’s seeped into every aspect of your Everything is not something that happens in a day. Plus adjusting to different technology and standards of living wont help how emotionally charged things would get.
And let’s ALSO think about the people who stayed. What do their lives look like? Do they have any knowledge of how to survive without their technology or how to get by whilst it’s being rationed and in low supply? Probably not, or at least not very well. What’s happening to disabled Imperians? This power shortage probably has gotten people killed or at least made their lives worse/more painful.
It’s not ALL doom and gloom though, i suppose. Someone had to have made those differently colored outfits we see Percival’s teammates wearing. Someone had to have made or even imported those different flavors of tea he talked about. Imperians are persevering. But it can’t be easy rn. Beatrix really caused the collapse of a major world power huh. And for what? Nothing meaningful. An empty power-fantasy.

adhd talk
the third truly unsung project alongside my film and dissertation was the weird amount of targeted effort i had to put into Completing Anything Big As A Neurodivergent Person Whose Brain Is A Crazy Off The Rails Train Staffed and Patronised Entirely By Multiple Exact Copies Of The Squirrel From Ice Age
which is a description like 99/100 people reading this can relate to, but i think a sentiment i see less often and therefore feel kind of stupid and stubborn and lonesome about is "adhd is innate but is also exasperated by hectic lifestyle/modern instant gratification machines so if i fix my habits around those i can cure myself forever". which is silly and wrong but also i feel abit disconnected from adhd social media culture and cant cope just relating to it (which is all it seems to be sometimes) but learning to harness or tame it to do the things that are really important to me
i felt really cringe tbh having to look up youtube videos of HARVARD STUDENT REVEALS PRO STUDY TRICK and then narrowing it down to specifically adhd-focused study videos and keeping a planner and setting aside specific time to study studying and practising anti-academic meltdown journaling techniques and reading fucking atomic habits but i really didn't want to contribute to my abhorrent academic record following me all through undergrad. in fact i wish i had done this sooner but i was not self aware enough to consider the fact
probably the best change i made was severely cutting down or being mindful of social media time, i don't backread my tl anymore and have more moments of awareness when i find myself dumbly scrolling and realize i dont want to be doing this, and then wondering what i actually Do want to be doing. i keep a book nearby to read, and have also swapped a lot of social media time to sketching-off-pinterest time. reading about the psychology behind social media apps is also super interesting, although i always feel like a paranoid wacko conspiracy theorist talking about it. stuff like how negativity and judgemental behaviour is good for engagement (and therefore ad revenue), and how if all posts on your tl were interesting you wouldn't be as addicted to social media as you are, therefore microblogging employs a slot machine/gacha system where you "roll" for posts by logging on and hope to get a good one. it's a little full on but the more i think of it as a revolting and evil machine the more incentive i have to do something else with my time ^q^
a harder thing to do was, in the late stages of the project, the real crunch time month, avoid everything that could become a huge hyperfixation, and then eventually even minor distractions or fixations. because i know if i got super obsessed with something i'd just be up posting about it or drawing fanart. i had to bar myself from persona 3 remake and elden ring dlc and all these other shiny new releases, and the mobile games i was playing... i look forward to catching up on them now. i took up reading books a lot more because unfortunately thats just not as exciting. in the last month of film work i stopped listening to music on my computer so i wouldnt get drawing or animation ideas to distract me from film work. as of writing this i havent listened to music in like 40 days guys 😱 at the same time i am the kind of person who needs background noise to work, so i have:
watched novum's four hour hereditary video essay three times
watched novum's seven hour midsomar video essay three times
watched that one five hour bojack horseman retrospective twice
listened to audiobooks of the Britney Spears biography, Jennette McCurdy biography, three Playboy Bunny biographies (i was on some sort of lady bopgraphy kick i guess), and a few fiction books
rewatched all of bojack horseman
started on House MD and got a few seasons in before i finished the project, amazingly the perfect show to look away from bc of all the medical stuff, how many lumbar punctures do you need to show like seriously
honorable mention to the learned skill of communication and being honest and picking your battles and killing your darlings which is a larger part of managing mental illness than i cared to admit but one of the hardest ones because it involved confronting things and making big painful drastic changes and then having to tell the faculty about them. sometimes i'd be stuck on a piece of animation work for weeks/months, then go back and change the underlying idea to one i'm actually passionate about, and do the animation work in one day using newly found magical hyperfocus passion power. it's crazy! but being able to be confident about taking those steps rather than keeping on with what you're "supposed" to do went a long way.
i very much look forward to listening to a music and playing some video games properly now and being pulverized like a small victorian child from the sheer amount of fun i'm having. i'd say it was all worth it and a fun experiment in channeling the magical humours of passion and boredom and i hope it will help me with future projects too. i Am super burnt out though x__ x thanks for reading and for all your support up until now!

did i ever talk about the a4 planner notebooks i designed and had made on here? 👀 (they all have blank covers which i decorate with stickers each month)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
blank inside cover (this is my may/june planner which i started decorating yesterday, so there's a thank you note from my raahatillustration order in there), all the printed pages are printed on square paper! next page is a 2024 and 2025 calendar (minimum print quantity was 10 books, so i designed each book to cover 2 months and had 12 printed, for 2 years supply!), followed by a blank grid for future log of the 2 months that come after the ones in the current notebook).
Tumblr media
page for trackers! i use the left hand page to write the things i'm tracking (sideways in the top box, so a column of boxes is assigned to each activity/task), then colour in the boxes corresponding to the date and each activity/thing each day. also doubles as a migraine log (colour in the box containing the date when i have a migraine), and the blank column is so i can colour in a mood tracker. the right hand page is for making a record of what i'm reading and watching (genre, start date, end date, title and author if applicable). lots of extra space for decorating or notes if i want to.
Tumblr media
monthly page! (2 per book). the left is for a monthly overview that is heavily decorated/all the things i'm doing are written in (no completed version to show bc i have too much personal info in my completed ones to redact. sad bc they turn out very cute!!!). the space underneath that is where i stick in a copy of the playlist i'm listening to that month/any decorations i want to add. the boxes at the bottom have 31 spaces, so on the left of that i write down 4 physical therapy things i track to fill in each day. on the right hand page is where i write a little brief list of things that will be nice the following day, then the grids at the bottom are for me to shade in 'the degree to which i went outside', and a 'big picture' idea of the weather.
Tumblr media
weekly spread! (10 per book). how i keep on top of the day! for vertical planning, with a running list-ish style chores log on the top left corner, and a blank setup on the top left corner of the right page for things i want to achieve across the week but that i can't assign to a specific day yet (or take place over multiple days). lots of room for me to stick in photos, a column for notes, and a gap at the base of the page for me to track other things. i colour code each month so it's easier for me to keep track of where i am in time, so a strip of washi tape goes along the bottom 3 rows of squares, and then above that i'm left with 3 more rows of squares - in the 'notes' column i pick 3 things to track, and then draw a line across the column for each day of the week when i do that activity/task in the corresponding row. for example:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
weekly horizontal spread (10 per book). this is for my daily reflections, i write down things like my step count for keeping track of health stuff/energy expenditure, when i got up/any time i had to lay down, a bullet point summary of all the activities i did that day, times i made a decision that was, like, good for me, things like that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
blank squared pages (7 per book) and inside back cover for miscellaneous uses. i've used them for far for garden planning diagrams and collages, sticking in notes and ephemera, and collecting odds and ends of stationery. i usually stick an envelope that i've made inside the back cover so i can stuff a bunch of papers in there as i accumulate them (receipts, tags from clothes, order delivery notes, etc), for example:
Tumblr media
tada! really happy with how these turned out, very good investment of the money i would have put into buying a hobonichi each year for example, which is simply too small for my needs!

any jason headcanons you enjoy?
oh this is a fun question, thank you <3
some of these are going to be more widely accepted fanon, i think, but! ^^;
smallest robin turned largest robin. (i actually think for size it goes jason > dick > tim > damian > steph. i also like the idea that as red hood he's taller than bruce, but bruce is broader/heavier.)
ik canonically he didn't join the school's theater/drama club bc of robin commitments, but in my head he was still part of a group <3 maybe they had a city one during the summer? idk
i also think he was starting to get involved with the martha wayne foundation before he died.
alfred & he are close. ik canonically alfred tends to be a lot more victim blame-y with jason (as all of them are) but i think that entire retcon was stupid so <3
he can cook and cook well!
related: he also stress bakes. and cooks, too. also a stress cleaner. actually, just in general, i think he responds to stress with action. anything that feels "useful" or "helpful"--so feeding people, maintaining weapons/armor, cleaning up a space, etc.
very neat, and meticulous about his space. like, he might have a few things lying around that are "in use" but for the most part everything has a spot.
phobia of needles! it was worse when he was robin, but as an adult he's worked on it & learned how to manage it. however, in times of high stress it shows back up. and he's not good with any kind of unexpected need for shots.
i saw something somewhere about jason having multiple copies of books--not necessarily editions (though def that too) but like... one to put on display & one he can annotate/dog-ear/mark up/etc as h pleases. which i like a lot!
also inspired by something else--this time a piece of art, i think for something set in the batman beyond universe--but. i think he develops hearing problems, and maybe even already has? (actually; on that subject, i think he probably has tinnitus now, and maybe develops hearing loss as he gets older.) [updating with a link to the art]
good with kids. that one might just be canon xD
does a lot of volunteer work when he's not vigilante-ing. he does work with various places, but i think one of his favorites is like, storytime with kids at a library, or something.
i go back & forth between "jason is warmer" and "jason is colder" post-resurrection, and i think i like to stick with somewhere in the middle---he gives off a lot of heat, but has a harder time retaining. so even tho he feels warm to everyone else, he's still cold.
not really a headcanon, but. white streak + autopsy scar is peak jason design~
& i'll stop there bc this is getting p long!

What were some of your favourite pages in the book?
god thats a hard one jsnfjksdk the entire book is so good but i do have my favorites. heres an entire list
silly straws page - i read in 'dipper and mabel's guide to mystery and nonstop fun' that bill likes silly straws and thought it was a silly random tidbit, imagine how surprised i was when i realized there was LORE behind it.. im still figuring out some codes bc i dont wanna look them up and im having so much fun !!
stanford trying to keep me from reading the book page - "you cant hear the disappointed sigh im making rn, but i assure you it's devastating" i mean he failed to stop me from reading the entire thing in one sitting but i was just very happy to see ford's cursive again. It was really funny seeing him trying to guess what the reader would be convinced by (i saw the moth picture and thought 'whats that called, a goth moth?' I laughed out loud when it turned out that was actually its name)
urban legends page - as a long time fan of creepypasta the references in this page absolutely delighted me. Also the art is so realistically horrifying, whoever drew these i love you
the one true intelligence test - idk this page just made me laugh a lot
Entire anti-cipher society part - i love how instead of telling the story in just plain text, they made us follow the story with newspapers and journal pages. What was that called. I swear there was a name for that kind of storytelling if anyone knows pls pls tell me
every page with ford and fiddleford - BEAUTIFUL. SUBLIME. BEST THING TO EVER EXIST IN THE WORLD. I HECKING LOVE FRIENDS BEING WHOLESOME TOGETHER AND I LOVE IT MORE WHEN THEYRE MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS FROM MY FAVORITE SHOW. THEY MAD SNOWMEN OF EACH OTHER THATS SO CUTE
"but my aim is getting better" - do i need to explain this one
whatever this page is called;
Tumblr media
I hated reading this (i loved reading this). i kinda got spoiled before i bought the book with an analysis post, had to literally put my phone down and think about what id just read. i think this page really puts bill and ford's relationship into perspective. ford's a person and bill's a multidimensional semi-god creature, bill will do and say anything in his power to get ford to do what he wants. this relationship cannot even begin to resemble normal. and also the forgetting your own name part horrified me, thats some good horror right there.. love it when books make me have a visceral reaction to tiny words on paper
call transcript from the police - OH the LORE and CHARACTER ANALYSIS FOOD RIGHT HERE. i could talk for hours about how bill straight up sucks at relationships and he's SO unwilling to admit he was upset about falling out with ford that he's lying to himself MULTIPLE TIMES OVER AND OVER and how a lack of genuine connection with people is eating him up - but if i talked about all that this post would spiral into insanity real quick. Also drunk bill talking into the phone was very very sad and very very on character and i could hear hirsch's bill voice inside my head it was really good aghjgnkhhh
stan's page - I ALMOST CRIED AND I KNOW THATS KIND OF A WEIRD REACTION BUT I SAW THE STAN PAGE IN THISISNOTAWEBSITEDOTCOM OKAY AND IT WAS MAKING ME VERY UNWELL I WAS EXTREMELY RELIEVED TO JUST HEAR THIS MAN SO HAPPY AGAIN STANLEY PINES I LOVE YOU YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING
yee that turned out longer than id anticipated jdndjs
overall this was amazing. an entire book written in my favorite character's voice is something i've only ever dreamed of and it's genuinely a frickin honour to have a copy in my house. my bookshelf is 2% more cursed now and i would not have it any other way.
one of these days im gonna black out and there will be a twenty-pages long essay on bill's social life on your feed. i advise you to gently scroll past it without looking.

You guys just can’t pick a side can you?
This is one of the most idiotic asks I've been sent and someone once told me if a character is designed to appeal to children that character themselves must be a child. However I will still try to respond to explain why this is not the same situation in a calm manner.
The fnaf novels tied into the games in a way where in my opinion you don't need them to understand the lore, The mimic is a pretty simple concept a robot that copies voices the only thing you miss out on with the books is the backstory which I don't think is super vital but could also be explored in a future game so I don't mind the books being canon. Batim back when DCTL had first come out only revealed a major character's identity in that book. That is bad and I don't agree with it. But I am also against retconning the books entirely since it means said character now has No identity. I am literally not the kind of person this is meant to address...
HOWEVER
The bendy books are beloved, they have great stories, characters and add fun things to Bendy's lore that doesn't exist without them. I personally believe they're not only great by video game novel standards but great by general horror novel standards as well.
Most important though, is that Bendy is a "character-focused" series, but despite this the games lack any kind of interesting characterization, most of the cast don't have established relationships and the ones that do are often relationships that are minor and unimportant. The cast ranges from basically cardboard cut outs who had interesting ideas that were not executed well to basically having nothing interesting about them. See how Henry the main protagonist of the first game BATIM does not have much of a personality nor reacts to much through out the game, thus making it hard to really feel for what he is going through not to mention how he doesn't seem to have been friends with anyone he's encountered.
The books added substance to characters who needed it. They gave Joey a compelling backstory, motivation and a peak into how his mind worked via Illusion Of Living which filled in holes and gaps in Joey's story that the games left wide open despite the fact he's a main villain and very important. His character is vital to BATDR & BATIM, as it is his actions that literally caused all of this besides Henry who could arguably also be said to have started this when he left. The games don't tell us much about either of them. Not to mention unlike Scott who I believe never fully stated whether or not the books were canon, the bendy devs DID say the books were canon until recently which is confusing and frustrating for theorists who kept up with them to be able to know the lore and now feel cheated.
But now without the books Bendy has even more holes in its story, we now don't know who Boris is, why Thomas was suddenly being ominous and evil in BATDR [In The Lost Ones he was shown to be morally grey however since those aren't canon anymore, it seems Thomas just suddenly turned evil bc he felt like it], not to mention Joey now lacks a backstory and everything a lot of fans loved about the way he was written in the books has been thrown away. A lot of relationships, interesting traits and cool ideas about Bendy's narrative and its characters are now suddenly gone leaving us with once again the cardboard cutouts that the games claim are well-written characters. Kress is just a way better writer than the Bendy devs so to see her work tossed aside when she had been told it was canon to this franchise she liked feels offensive and hurtful.
This was only made worse by the fact this news only truly came out in response to multiple instances of whitewashing characters who were previously thought to be people of color in the graphic novel for Dreams Come To Life which itself also was just very poorly drawn, was basically just a worse version of the book it was adapting and had coloring mistakes that made it to the final print.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile Fnaf is not a character-focused narrative, at least not to the degree Bendy is. For a while we didn't know who the protagonist of the games was and it also didn't matter. Fnaf's story was fairly simple and more focused on the events that caused the animatronics to attack you as opposed to say how the nightguard was feeling about all this. Thusly Fnaf's books which all told their own stories [most of which were received with pretty mixed reviews might I add] were also kinda wild and strange in the lore they added? Like robot children that also grew up and thought they were human and a lot of stories that didn't feel particularly related to FNAF? More like generic horror stories that sometimes had animatronics instead of any other generic monster.
It was completely natural for people to assume the fnaf books weren't canon, for a while it just didn't seem likely. They also weren't supplying key story information since the games themselves explained their stories well enough for everyone to at least have an idea of what was happening. Fnaf just isn't a character-focused narrative [or at least until Security Breach it really wasn't] the most important thing about its characters was their roles. William Afton as a person isn't super important for you to understand you just need to know that 1. He's the killer 2. He's the father of the main protagonist and 3. He died and is now coming to get you. Run. All of his children are the same, in fact a lot of them don't have names bc their names aren't super important their roles are. The crying child, the dead kids, you don't need to know their whole backstories for the story to work, it's a simple eerie and well written horror story about children dying and becoming vengeful ghosts.
Fnaf then released Security Breach which already made a lot of people frustrated and upset. Not only had it been delayed a lot but the story was confusing and not well written, the game was buggy and nearly unplayable in spots. Etc, etc, the fandom was already rather upset.
Then the dlc came out and while it was WAY better and honestly it's one of my favorite mascot horror games EVER, a lot of people had already long before it came out, placed their bets on whether or not the mimic would show up and therefore make the books canon. A lot of people at that point felt frustrated with how vague and hard to deconstruct the lore already Was so when it turned out the books [or at least the ones with Mimic in them] were canon it was frustrating and I understand why. The books are kinda bloated and have a lot of hit or miss stories so now everyone is wondering which stories are canon and which aren't which is frustrating when you just want to enjoy a story in a game you bought without having to watch an hour long theory video or read the wiki.
Honestly the biggest thing is this ask is very passive aggressive to me for a belief I don't even hold. I'm not super upset the fnaf books are canon, I'm very disinterested in fnaf due to scott cawthon's... Actions but personally I'm of the opinion that as long as a future game explains the mimic's backstory and what it is, then it's fine the books are canon.
Besides fnaf recently made a game literally out of one of the books people liked and it received great reviews [I loved it]. The books are not the problem people had it was the confusing lore. You're literally making up people to get mad at, most of the people who were upset at the fnaf books being canon didn't mind the bendy books not being canon and the opposite was true for others as well. Not to mention you're completely disregarding [in both cases] Why people are mad. It was far more complicated than just books not being canon it was what was In those books.
To imply I'm being hypocritical when you're comparing two game devs who I both dislike and don't support in their actions is very insulting. You just assumed I held this position cause I guess you thought I was stupid? Or you thought that because I don't like the bendy team I must be hypocritical and like fnaf? Either way you literally just assumed something about my beliefs then came to my inbox to mock me for it. I hope you realize how immature and stupid you look right now.
And for the record that goes for all the fnaf fans who mocked or disregarded people being upset about the bendy books not being canon anymore too. If they had simply listened to Why people were upset they would realize it was way more than just people being mad at a retcon.
Anyways of course you're a h*lluva boss fan, that makes perfect sense with how rude you are and the fact you use "antis" unironically. The way you fought so hard to pretend like the poppy playtime devs are the worst people in the world before I had to correct you on all of your info having no evidence, meanwhile you support someone who has been well known for being an abuser, hurting their workers and even transphobic says everything. So long as someone made something you like they can do no wrong right? Well heres some stuff abt Vivzieshit you might wanna look at.
I'm gonna go enjoy thanksgiving with my family now. I hope you learned something about sending weird passive aggressive stuff to strangers about shit they don't think or have ever said. Lmao

hello! i've been meaning to ask you this for a while, but i keep forgetting! i'll lead by saying that i'm sorry for being so annoying in your askbox about this stuff... i just really want to know your opinion!
i've been seeing a lot of "galacta knight is canonically dead" takes lately, and i was wondering what you thought about that? i've always been a little annoyed at the concept since star allies (and the star allies art books!) seems to make a big deal out of morpho knight being a fusion of gk and the butterfly, and while katfl seems to disprove this (?) it's also important to note that we never saw gk's soul leave morpho knight, only forgo's. i just feel like there's a lot more evidence for morpho knight to be a fusion than the other way around? i can't really talk to people about this bc it always makes me look like a fangirl that's upset her favorite is dead... :/ your killing game post kind of reminded me about that jajaj
Annoying? Noooo! Not in the slightest!
"Canon."
Oh boy. I mean, yes, I use "canon" myself but at the same time, I hear the phrase "canonically dead" paired with Galacta Knight and I can't help but laugh. (And sigh, because I really do think fandom can get caught up in policing people based on what's presumed(!!!) canon and that just seems like a big way to suck the fun out of things!)
But seriously, Galacta Knight is just one of the funniest characters to argue about this because before now, people were arguing he wasn't even canon at all! Can we just enjoy the character, people?! XD
That said, I did some looking through my copy of the SA art book and Galacta and Morpho's pause screen lore for this ask and...
The art book is pretty clear about Morpho Knight being a fusion of the butterfly and Galacta. That said, the pause lore also seems to imply that Morpho is their own thing, and that while they might be fused in this form, it's not to say that Morpho can only take that form because they absorbed Galacta/that it was borrowed from Gala.
Galacta definitely has an effect on Morpho, physically, as Morpho EX is explicitly stated to be a change brought on as Morpho finishes the process of absorbing Galacta's power and has learned to make it entirely their own. (Interesting how that turns them dark, not unlike the Aeon Hero unlocking his own "true" power and turning quite...malevolent looking.)
That Morpho needed Gala's power (in fact, Morpho is described as being "drawn  to" Gala so I don't think there's anything wrong with imagining fate plays a bit into their meeting) could be why Morpho becomes Morpho Knight to be but doesn't turn into, say , Forgo Knight after absorbing Fecto Forgo. (Although Fecto isn't a complete soul, missing Elfilin.) Morpho Knight probably couldn't have taken that same form in FL had they not fused with Gala but...
...because Gala wasn't shown leaving Morpho, does that suddenly mean Gala's dead? ...Personally, I don't think so. Especially if you are one of those "EX Modes are Non-Canon" people, in which case, we can take the pause screen text to mean that regular Morpho hasn't even "finished" absorbing Gala's soul! IE: It's still around.
But here's the real reason it's so odd to me to suggest that Gala is dead after their encounter with Morpho in Star Allies:
Galacta Knight is a character who pretty clearly has multiple selves from multiple timelines existing at any/many given points in the timeline! So the SA Gala was absorbed! What does that say for the other dozen Galactas flying around out there? There many be THOUSANDS of Crystal Prisons containing thousands of Galacta Knights floating through the mess that is Another Dimension! We saw that SA Gala getting absorbed had no effect on the Galacta Knight fight existing as per normal in RtDL DX.
Even if you wanted to go all River Song and say that getting absorbed by Morpho is Gala's end fate, that regardless of where we catch them in the timeline, that would be a fixed moment, we haven't seen Gala's beginning! (Even Aeon Hero would seem to represent something like Gala's "career highlight" phase.) It's simply too soon/we have too little evidence to say Galacta is "canonically dead."
It's just very silly to me to insist on/badger people about that. Which is why I tend to think that at least a portion of the people saying that are saying it as a joke. This humorous idea that "Man Galacta never even got to be canon (:Dess groaning in the background:) and the first time he does get to be canon, he dies! lolololol"
It's overplayed as a joke to me, but if that's the way they enjoy the series, I try to let them be and focus on the parts of the fandom/the discussions that are most meaningful and constructive to me!
(Lastly, I hope you don't feel like there's anything negative about being seriously concerned about the fate of your favorite or that it's anything to be ashamed about! Ask and talk away, please! I want note that if evidence ever came out that Marx was most likely dead, I would be rushing to complain about it/try to reassure myself that there was evidence to the contrary in every ask box that would listen! XD It's natural and very sane to get emotionally invested in the state of your fav in a series you're still currently invested in! Something something kill the part of you that cringes~)

29. How many books do you have on your 'to-be-read' list?
199 lmao...i have a slightly smaller to-read list for this year that focuses on just books i own physical copies of but haven't read yet. that one is 35 books rn...
32. Name your favorite author(s).
hmmm ok gonna try to make this list like. authors who i've read multiple works from & enjoyed as opposed to just really liking one novel or series so. hannah moskowitz for sure. also victor hugo and mervyn peake...kurt vonnegut...neil gaiman...have also read & enjoyed multiple works by han kang, ursula k. leguin, octavia butler, and gabriel garcia marquez but i feel less familiar w them so...not sure if i'd confidently call them favorites...have also read a lot from v.e. schwab but not sure if she'd quite make the favorites list either bc there's wider variance in how much i like her works...
for nonfiction donna j. haraway, judith butler, leslie feinberg, bell hooks, audre lorde, angela y. davis, andrea long chu, gloria anzaldua, and lee edelman
for poetry louise gluck, e.e. cummings, natalie diaz, franny choi, and richard siken
43. Title of a book you own that's in the worst physical condition you have. Explain what happened to it. Post a picture if you want.
not by my bookshelves rn so can't take a pic but pretty sure it's animorphs book #6 the capture which i found at a used bookstore & half the cover is like...ripped + falling apart. i buy animorphs books pretty much anytime i find them in a used bookstore tho regardless of condition so <3

i'm going to be attempting @batmanisagatewaydrug's 2025 book bingo! full details of the books i've chosen (and options where i've got multiple) under the cut. it is, as most things i read are, sff heavy, but i have really tried to include other genres too!
literary fiction: detransition, baby by torrey peters. a book that i somehow still have not read, in spite of everyone reading it and talking about it. 2025 is gonna be the year i feel it.
short story collection: lesser known monsters of the 21st century by kim fu. this one came from the recommendations in the challenge post!
a sequel: the stone sky by n. k. jemisin is the last book in the broken earth trilogy. for some reason this is a trilogy i can only read in hard copy (possibly because i started reading the first book in hard copy?) and so while i adored the first two books (incredible worldbuilding, absolutely devastating), i was not able to get into the third one that i had as an ebook. so i'm gonna get a hard copy and finally read it.
childhood favourite: oranges are not the only fruit by jeanette winterson. stretching the definition of 'childhood' a bit here as i first read it when i was 15 (the summer i started coming out!) and also i clearly just want devastating books, but this is my choice. i'm interested to see how it holds up as an adult.
20th century speculative fiction: snow crash by neal stephenson (1992) or kindred by octavia butler (1979). both have been on my tbr for ages, but i'm leaning towards snow crash.
fantasy: jade city by fonda lee. i bought a copy of it ages ago and it sounds exactly like the kinda thing i'd like
published before 1950: dracula by bram stoker. maybe this is the year i read this book and/or keep up with dracula daily!
independent publisher: time to orbit: unknown by @derinthescarletpescatarian. stretching the definition of independent publisher here a bit, but i've wanted to read TTO:U for ages, and now it is in an ebook format, so i have no more excuses!
graphic novel/comic book/manga: this one was really hard for me, bc there's so manyyyy i want to read. i have narrowed it down to alone in space by tillie walden, lights, planets, people! by molly naylor, the fade by aabria iyengar and mari costa, and nimona by nd stevenson.
animal on the cover: while filling this out i realised so many of t kingfisher's books have animals on the cover, so this could have been what moves the dead, but in the interest of picking a new author, i went with weyward by emilia hart.
set in a country you've never visited: also lots of options here. i went with the weight of our sky by hanna alkaf (set in Malaysia), which i started when it released but never finished, but i am also looking at kiffe kiffe tomorrow by faiza guene (focused on a Moroccan family in France) and aluta by adwoa badoe (set in Ghana). i wanted some more ya on this list, so this list of ya books set in different countries was helpful!
science fiction: man, so much of this list is sci-fi already. but i went with the school for good mothers by jessamine chan. or alternatively i might read the long earth by terry pratchett and stephen baxter.
2025 debut author: i stumbled across an excerpt from motheater by linda h coega on the stone soup newsletter, and it sounds so good! my other option is anji kills a king by evan leikamp
memoir: again, i have picked two books that will probably hit pretty hard because i am making things difficult for myself. the year of the tiger: an activist's life by alice wong or alternatively i'm glad my mom died by jennette mccurdy.
read a zine, make a zine: i'm going to be browsing the queer zine library, which is a mobile zine library based in the UK (i went to a zine fair they hosted several years ago!) for inspiration.
essay collection: the book of queer prophets: 24 writers on sexuality and religion, edited by ruth hunt. another book i've owned for ages and never read!
2024 award winner: some desperate glory by emily tesh, which won the 2024 hugo award for best novel.
nonfiction - learn something new: the age of surveillance capitalism by shoshana zuboff. of all the books on this list, this is the one i'm least confident about my ability to actually finish. it's a hefty book. but i'm gonna give it another shot!
social justice and activism: there were a lot of books on my tbr that could've fit this. i went with saving our own lives: a liberatory practice of harm reduction by shira hassan, which i got as a present last year. the other option is care work: dreaming disability justice.
romance novel: i'm quite proud of finding a romance novel my partner didn't rec for me for once. make room for love by darcy liao.
read and make a recipe: i love ruby tandoh, so i am going to read her cookbook, cook as you are! i also considered london feeds itself by the vittles team, but i don't think that counts as a cookbook.
horror: coup de grace by sofia ajram. i didn't know much recent horror, so this list of 2024 horror releases was helpful!
published in the aughts: white teeth by zadie smith. apparently it's very 2000s london, so i'm intrigued!
historical fiction: gods of jade and shadow by silvia moreno-garcia, which is a historical fantasy set in mexico. my other option is plain bad heroines by emily m danforth, who wrote one of my favourite books of all time (the miseducation of cameron post).
bookseller recommendation: thank you to the bookseller who recommended brandon sanderson's tress of the emerald sea when i was checking out the adventures of amina al-sirafi! apparently it also has ocean vibes, and maybe this is the year i finally read a brandon sanderson novel.
there's some other books i'm really looking forward to reading that didn't fit on my bingo list, which are: the river has roots by amal el-mohtar, the lighthouse at the edge of the world by j.r. dawson, death of the author by nnedi okorafor, and exordia by seth dickinson. i'm including them here so everything is in one place. i'm super excited to get a start on this challenge!

Just had the craziest, wildest thought re: Fyodor's Ability.
I think a fact that's rarely touched on in bsd is that Fyodor was originally introduced as a hacker.
So what if he's like the anti-Katai?
To make it a little more far-fetched, let's combine it with the theory that Fyodor can split himself into two beings. But maybe one of them lives in and is now somehow trapped in cyberspace (re: "save me").
It would explain the almost omnipotent extent of Fyodor's knowledge, as well as some of the gaps in it. Like why he couldn't access the Port Mafia's Gifted records--because they were hard copies.
Just thought I'd throw this out there 😅😅 most likely wrong, but certainly interesting to try to think like Asagiri. If anything, at least let his hacking be important bc it's almost never brought up again after the Guild arc.
Honestly anon, I don't see a lot of reason to prove or disprove this theory at all (we have so little information that most theories are valid suggestions!) - the only thing that confuses me would then be the instant killing by contact.
However, if we are going by an "anti-Katai" premise, then remember that Katai's ability is to manipulate the electrical signals of machinery. Perhaps we could look at it a little like "Katai-adjacent" - what if his ability has to do with manipulating the electrical signals in neural firings. Increasing activity rapidly in an area should increase blood flow to that area, thereby increasing the pressure to a degree that... yeah... *head blowing up sounds*
It may also be relevant to whatever was done to Goncharov (implied to be a form of lobotomy?) to render him unable to feel negative emotion. Perhaps he cut off the signal to those areas that process them (though irl be aware that most brain areas have multiple functions, we still don't fully understand how it's hooked up, and this is more a sci-fi imagining of it).
Also, networks are used primarily to "connect". Could it have something to do with the way he and his ability are shown communicating with each other in Dead Apple?
Going with the other possibility, if there is a copy of Fyodor that can exist on planes other than "reality" then that may be an intriguing "Poe-adjacent" ability (being able to enter a created space), and given the fact that both are heavily associated with books aka writing aka the narrative, I think that'd be a really interesting premise.
I do think Fyodor as an information source/manipulator is brought up a few times after the Guild arc. He presumably uses these skills to throw Ranpo off their trail in Cannibalism, and it was him who somehow found out about Atsushi and told Shibusawa. I personally believe Fyodor started out as a hacker before becoming ever more involved with the DoA. If he really can access a cyberspace, that would make him a sheer terrifying force, even more than he is just be being a genius. He who controls the information controls the story and whatnot (that's actually similar to something Naomi says Dazai told her... hmm...).

tuesday again 5/30/2023
all you can see is my hand over the back of the couch as i give a limp wrist flick of acknowledgement and point you toward the post ↓
listening
Smooth Jazz by GUPPY, a selfdescribed comedic punk band that makes secular guitar music with bedroom-pop overtones. said to myself out loud on my walk "this sounds gay" and whaddya know they are.
I’m listening to smooth jazz In the parking lot outside of Joann’s Fabrics & Crafts And I’m feeling like a dumb spazz Because my mind is moving way too fast
i have had this exact experience at multiple joanns. the last bit of the song has been on loop in my head since uhh thursday when i was catching up with my spot/ify weekly recommended list. the tired, slightly ironic last-number-in-the-musical performance is really doing it for me
Jazz, baby! That’s just jazz, baby That’s just jazz That’s just jazz, baby In my brain, baby So give me a lobotomy

reading
raymond chandler's the long goodbye.
Tumblr media
this book destroyed me. there is some BREATHTAKING racism even for 1953. it's one of the cruelest things ive ever read. it's a sucking chest wound of a book. i'm going to think about it for the rest of my life.
i'm not able to talk about chandler novels objectively.
i am partially grieving the incredibly fucked up shit that happens to marlowe in this book (i have no fucking clue how you even go on after that, but he does) and partially grieving that this is the last full novel and there aren't any more. i know the unfinished poodle springs was finished after chandler's death but! i do not care.

watching
One-Eyed Jacks (1961, dir. Brando). widely available for free, pluto had the nicest copy but ads that weren't blockable. this is a film where the production is as much of a story as the actual film.
Tumblr media
i don't actually know if i enjoyed this film or had a good time watching it. i don't know that i ever need to see it more than once.
it is artistically distinct, and i genuinely mean that as a compliment. it is a rare western-that-doesn’t-have-to-be-a-western, and such a weird artifact of a particular guy's career in a particular time.
surprisingly, this is a pretty okay western to watch if you happen to be a woman. katy jurado and pina pellicier are acting their GODDAMN hearts out. despite itself, the movie paints a very good portrait of a mother-daughter relationship and some goodass parenting. women make mistakes and don't die about it. nobody gets raped!!! the absolute lowest bar a western can possibly have. as a quick sidebar, it's not that i think movies should never address rape, it's that westerns always address it in a way that makes my stomach turn.
it is a slow-burning revenge that mostly takes place on a beach, but it also takes you in great uneven hurtling lurches toward its finale. it wants to have things to say about lies, revenge, and storytelling but cannot help but give itself a certain kind of ending. it can only push so far. it is fascinatingly earnest, horny, and earnest about being horny.
-
playing
Tumblr media
grim fandango remastered (2015, originally 1998) by double fine. the EPIC tale of CRIME and CORRUPTION in the LAND OF THE DEAD!!! critically acclaimed, what we would now call Mexican Gothic i think, but billed itself as a Aztec-inspired noir.
technical details: i am not totally impressed by this remaster bc it still looks pretty fucking janky in parts (things clipping through other things, heavily pixelated stuff despite being on the highest quality settings, etc)
why i bounced off: i did not play video games growing up, and have not played many point-and-click games. despite this i do like walking simulators (the modern successor to point-and-click) and visual novels. i think bc i do not have the point-and-click background and am not playing this through nostalgia-tinted glasses for 1998, four years after i was born, the way the design team of this game expect the general population to solve problems and the way i personally solve problems are severely mismatched. i have spent about ten hours playing this game (in four acts) getting to about halfway through the third act, and i would say about half that time has been looking for/at guides or making up lost progress bc i didn't save. this is a tremendously frustrating way to spend free time.
Tumblr media
what i did love: however, it does Look. i ADORE this tile and want it in my home. in a cutscene in this little automat there are not one not two not three but FOUR reflective surfaces. they're not real-time, of course, but i did say "what the FUCK" out loud. it's also hysterically fucking funny! many short sharp barks of laughter! i am greatly amused at how a game about skeletons invented permadeath! both the writing and the voice performances are so fucking top notch. i understand why this is a beloved classic and im glad a remastered edition exists in the world, but i do not anticipate finishing this game bc i don't get a lot of joy out of having to closely follow a guide to progress.
how i found this: it was free on GOG several years ago, i wanted to play something this weekend that was compatible with lying down on the couch and used a maximum of one finger for the controls.
-
making
i cannot show any of the extremely doxxable embroidery samples that will zhuzh up this cardigan for a work event in mid-june, but i can show how i tacked the buttonband down. this is somewhat indifferent stitch spacing but it stays down and is invisible at a distance from the right side, and that's what matters. gotta de-pill this also but that's a bit boring for a tuesdaypost
