#piaj misc#I've not actually read it yet because it's not released in the uk#but I've read some spoilers and#sigh#like. i always knew this might happen#but i am so. so fucking tired of character phobias in media always having a logical origin point#like sure a lot of people have phobias with instigating events#but a shitton of phobia just sort of develops#for no damn reason#and then you've got to live with this illogical and occasionally crippling fear#i was really hoping Rayla's water phobia wouldn't have a reasonable and sensible origin point#like whatever it's useful backstory fodder for characterisation so I'll probably use it#but i was just hoping.#like speaking as someone with a deep but unfounded phobia I'm really sick of media phobias always being sensible#and because tdp is my obsession in recent years i hoped the Explicable Phobia trope wouldnt get rayla#so I'm peeved#I'll get over it.
