[Fan Account] Infinite Japan’s fanmeeting 2018- Sungjong biased*

Fanmeeting at Yokohama Pacifico day 1 - 21 Nov 2018

Intro and song performances

A short video of the boys played on a giant screen, then it fell down to reveal the boys on stage and the intro of be mine. Surprise! 

Props to the coordinator noona who put the members in shirts that were open at the neckline, exposing just enough to tease. Except, Jjongs shirt was double layered and buttoned right up. At least the top was tucked in, and his trousers were nicely fitting, so we could appreciate that s-line. Yes, I had binoculars today.

Nothing’s over was next, and Jjong looked like he was really having fun on stage, laughing and playing with Dongwoo during odd moments. They formed a big heart together right at the end.

Later, they also performed Cover girl, and they all thew out signed balls, and Jjong even gave away the basket his came in. I saw him fire some love arrows at fans too,

and all the members ran into the audience and hi-fived people at the back and sidemost rows as they sang, which was awesome because the venue was big.

They were wearing different outfits, with jackets, for the last few songs. Loved seeing the choreo for Tell Me, Jjong was giving it his all and his jacket slid off his shoulder a few times. I have missed seeing his dance!

Singing Japanese songs

Each member pulled a numbered stick from a box, and a Japanese song split into those numbered parts was played. They had to memorise the song and sing their part. In the first song, Myungsoo got a really easy part, the others all managed to muddle through, but Jjong found his part really difficult. He asked the mc to put the words on their autocue but she told him they couldn’t. Sungyeol, the smart one, grabbed a pen and wrote his lyrics down, and so when they switched songs Jongie also asked for a pen. However, even with the lyrics, he couldn’t get the melody down so his first try at the song ‘sampo’ from the movie totoro was bad. The second try he got better, and inspirits cheered him on. After the songs we were given a short free photo time (but no real cameras allowed, just phones). I hope lots of inspirits share their photos as I was too far back to get anything good.

Talking about Disneyland and midnight black

As the guys all sat on stools, the mc went over with each member what they’d been up to, like Dongwoo and woohyuns musicals. There was a lot of Japanese, and Jjong was quiet for a really long time, just nodding in the way that you do when the conversation is mainly in a language you’re not fluent in. He drank a lot of water while the others talked. While Myungsoo was being interviewed, Jjong was asked if he’d been to a maid cafe and he was really emphatically like no no no, waving both hands and looking distressed. (They all said they hadn’t. Missing out!)

Finally the mc mentioned his radio show and we gave him big cheers for that. He looked happy and put his hand to his ear for an encore. He told the mc it’s not tiresome, but fun to do it. Then he wanted to talk about Disneyland, so they showed his insta picture on the screen, and he talked about how fun it was. He was really trying with the Japanese, asking Dongwoo for help with a word he wanted to say at one point. He was able to say he was happy, and the food at Disney made him happy too, but Japanese really isn’t his strong point and he looked a bit flustered at times. when asked who he went with, he wanted to say ‘our stylist’ but it came out as style-isshi and the other guys lost it, jumping up from their stools to laugh and tease him as he hastily tried to correct himself. Oh Jjong. We also saw a similar photo of him with the same Disney character that wasn’t posted on his insta.

Question time

On entry, we were able to submit a question for a member, and the members pulled them from boxes and then visited the seat of the person who wrote the question. Myungsoo pulled a question from the second floor, so while he went up to meet her, Jjong hosted a round of rock, paper, scissors with us and seemed to be very energetic and fun, shouting ‘ah-ha!’ When people lost. Myungsoo hugged his fan as well as answered her question, so that set all of them up to do the same.

Jong pulled his question while one of the others was being answered, and looked at it for a while, before finally going to meet his fan. Along the way to meet her, he got mistaken and thought she was someone else, so he started out by apologising a lot to her. She wanted him to rank the other members, and he asked in what way. She said in terms of the total package- looks, skills,etc. He took ages umming and aahing over i it, then put Woohyun 4th, L 3rd, Dongwoo 2nd, Sunggyu 1st!

Sungyeol looked really annoyed but Jjong soothed him somewhat calling him an angel. Then he called all of the members, plus inspirit, angels too. (I feel like angel is his favourite Japanese word, as he introduced himself as the angelic Sungjong.)

He asked the fan what she wanted, ‘hug?’ And she just kind of flailed, so he hugged her.

In the closing speech, Jjong said ‘oyasumi (goodnight) my love’ which made all the others cringe, so he said it twice and blew a kiss!

Hi-5

We lined up in another room and slowly made our way to the hi-5 and exit. Members stood on the right, and staff stood on the left ensuring you didn’t slow down. Jjong was first, YAY, and he leaned a little over the table to look out for us as I guess me and the girl before me were slow. He looked cute and smiley to see us, but a little tired, understandably. I managed a ‘Jjongburi fighting!’ as we hi-fived. L and Sungyeol were a blur... sorry guys... Woohyun said ‘I love you!’ In Japanese to everyone while giving a finger heart with the non-hi fiving hand.Dongwoo was last in line so we shared a longer smile as we hi-fived, and I said ‘thank you!’ as no one was rushing me along there.

I didn’t get lucky with the group photo lottery this time, so that’s all for me today! The event was from 7pm to 10pm, so they was good value for a fanmeet I think!

[FAN ACCOUNT] 171229 INFINITE Begin Again

Hi everyone! I know it’s been a while but better late than never right? Anyway, I was able to go to the first day of Begin Again and it was so nice to see the boys again. It feels like it’s been forever and a half since I saw their smiling faces on stage. I’m going to try my best at this fan account but tbh it’s not going to be as good as the others. There were a few distractions in my area and because it had been so long, I think I was too caught up in the moment and a lot of the talking parts didn’t stick in my brain. It also might be because I’m getting old lol. 

Anyway, the merchandise for the fan meet are all pretty nice and this time they even had a table with all the goods on it so you can look at it or touch them before you buy it. The only bad thing about the goods is that they came in these huge boxes that were impossible to carry around. Fast fowarding to inside the venue. Woollim really seemed to try to change things up this time. They’re still kind of predictable but I can definitely see the effort they put in to make fans a bit happier and to change it up from their complete predictability. Instead of mvs playing before the start, it was the concert logo in English and Korean flashing back and forth with title songs playing in the background. Tbh I kinda missed the mvs. Maybe it was because it was the first day after so long, but no one was singing or getting into the music. I think the mvs helped people concentrate on something instead of their phones.

So the first song they did was ‘Back’. Sungjong took over Hoya’s part and everyone went crazy! Also, in the middle of the song, Dongwoo started to cry during his part. It was so sad and touching, I started to tear up too. So he did his choreography going across the stage slowly, tears streaming down his face, with his cute Dongwoo cry face and it was just silent. Ugh, all the feels. After the song, we had a small event of throwing these paper airplanes with our messages into the air. Tbh it was cute but they all just ended up being trampled up on the floor by the end of the night. The fan union also prepared updated fan chants for us, which was nice. They’re not too difficult, just a few changes here and there really. They started their intros and I remember Myungsoo finished and Dongwoo was starting but Myungsoo kind of interjected like he wanted to say more so Dongwoo was like go ahead but then Myungsoo was like nevermind I’m weird today lol. Sungyeol mentioned that he almost cried after seeing Dongwoo cry too. Can you believe it? Our manly Sungyeol?? lol Anyway, Sunggyu said he wanted to laugh after seeing Dongwoo cry lol. They all talked about what they’ve been up to and Sunggyu mentioned his fanmeets and then Namu teased him by calling him Myungsoo-ssi. I don’t think there was anything else that was too special in this talk. I apologize again, my brain wasn’t fully functioning or something last night. Next, they performed ‘Between Me & You’. After the song they all came out and staff set up chairs for them. They were spread across the stage and were kinda far back so fans were asking them to come forward. They were like we’re so far apart. So fans were hoping they’d come forward but they decided to move their chairs closer to each other. It was so cute, they all moved so close to each other, they were like this is really close now lol. But fans wanted them to come closer to us but they said they need the space for the next part. They did this dice game thing. It was this huge dice that had different topics on them. I don’t remember all but some were ‘Contract Renewals’, ‘Black Past (embarrassing stories from the past’ and... sorry I don’t remember lol. Sungyeol asked what we wanted and we all wanted to hear about the renewals so he fake threw it up and was like ‘Oh yeah, look at that renewals!!’ But then he threw it up again and it still landed on renewals. So they mentioned how they talked for a loooong time about this and that they all think they made the right decision. They mentioned that the CEO was like why is renewals on the dice lol. They also said that their teamwork is even better than before and Sungjong said they’re like family that don’t share blood, and it was such an obvious kind of statement that everyone giggled. Woohyun mentioned that they actually got a lot of love calls from companies but Sunggyu said they chose Woollim cause they know the boys best and fit best with them. Fans were kind of not booing but groaning. So Sungyeol said, ‘To be honest, we know that the fans don’t like our company, but we’re hopeful that we can slowly change that and that things will get better.’ They also said to trust them and their choice so everyone agreed. And then Woohyun threw in, ‘Honestly, they gave us the best deal.’ And Sungyeol was like wow you’re being too honest lol. Sungyeol threw the dice again and it landed on ‘Black Past’ and they talked about different embarrassing stories. I can’t remember all of them but I remember Dongwoo was sorry to Woohyun for not doing a good job on Immortal Song once. We all teased Soo for his Japanese drama from way back when. He said he has a lot so today, we can go with that. Sunggyu brought up something about Sungjong but I forget what it was about. But Sungjong got on his knees and pounded the ground but later hugged Sunggyu. Sunggyu also talked about how Sungyeol tried to copy Woohyun’s aegyo. It started cause Sunggyu said something about meeting his lovers in Hannam-dong (which is where the fanmeet was) and then he said it reminded him of Sungyeol and Sungyeol got so red and was lying face down on the ground lol. They talked about how he was jealous that Woohyun called fans his girlfriends and wives and stuff (which prompted a cute attack by Woohyun) and Gyu said once when Sungyeol was drunk in Hongdae, he said that he was going to be cute too and the very next day he saw Sungyeol call a fan ‘Jagiya’ or something along those lines lol. But he realized it didn’t suit him and then he stopped lol.. They ended it by talking about the upcoming album a bit and the solo songs. Sungjong went off stage to get ready for his solo and the boys said that his solo was very Sungjong-like and that it suited him.

So for the solo stages, Sungjong was first and we later found out his song was called ‘Confession’. He had props on stage that looked like a street with benches and stuff. It was very cute and his singing was so good too. Next was Woohyun’s ballad. It was called ‘The Same Place’ (btw, these English titles are not official). As expected of Woohyun, it was beautiful. Next up was my favorite solo, Dongwoo. This song was just so good and he looked amazing and the choreography.. yaaassss all the hip thrusts. His song was called ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ (this one has an English title). SOOOO good though guys. He wore this red fur coat and ugh i just can’t. I’ve already seen some clips of the solo stages online, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find them. Next up was Myungsoo’s ballad. The funny thing here was that he started by sitting on this box thing and this laser grid came down and cascaded him in red light and everyone was like ooooohhhh and this kinda unexpected song came out and then all of a sudden everything shut off and Myungsoo kinda giggled... the staff put on the wrong song lol. A few seconds later, Myungsoo’s real song came on and it was a ballad called ‘The Day That Passed’. Next Sunggyu comes out and the lasers start up again. The lasers were so cool tbh. Anyway, his song was kinda rock but not really, a bit Nell-ish but not really. Idk what genre it would be. Anyway, it has no title yet. I’ll get into that later. Last was Sungyeol and he did this fun upbeat song which he didn’t reveal the title of. It was very reminiscent of ‘Daddy’ lol. He had the suit and sunglasses and quirky dance thing going on again.

They all came back out doing Sungyeol’s dance and giggling, too cute. They talked about the solos and Sungjong sang a bit of his. Dongwoo said that he originally sang the guide on that song but really liked it, so he kept it, THANK GOD! Woohyun asked if Dongwoo was a vocal or a rapper and Sunggyu said he was hoping to feature on it when he heard it but Dongwoo sang it himself. Myungsoo mentioned the mishap and said he wasn’t flustered cause he’s a pro. He also said he wrote the lyrics for his song, and Sunggyu wrote the lyrics for his too. He mentioned how there’s no title yet and everyone started yelling ‘LASER’ and they couldn’t understand us, so for like a minute we were yelling laser and they were like what??? Until Woohyun said ‘1,2,3′ and we yelled laser and Sunggyu was like, well I’ll think about it lol. Sungyeol said he was considering a ballad but he wanted to end the solo stages with a high energy song and that he might do a ballad in the future. Sunggyu said that he told him to do a ballad but Sungyeol vehemently shook his head.

Next, they performed ‘Be Mine’. After the song, they did the Instagram event. For those who don’t know, there’s an official event where you can ask questions to the boys using a hashtag of the day and whoever gets picked gets a signed poster. Tbh, I really didn’t even pay attention to this part because my area was so distracting. I won’t get into the details here, but this is one of the first times I was legit angry at other fans. I know not all fans are bad people, but until this point, I was surrounded by really selfish people, and it was not a good time. Like I literally could not pay attention to the boys and what they were saying, so I apologize for the gaping hole of information lol. I do remember them saying something about getting ready for the fan meet and Woohyun was putting lots of effort and Myungsoo was just good looking and so chic sitting on the couch that it made Gyu laugh or something. Like something about one person trying so hard and the other being so effortless lol. But Sunggyu tried to make it better by saying Woohyun is the most handsome and everyone went crazy. But Woohyun said it was too late lol. I think another question was what you’d want to take from other members. I do remember fans saying ‘Height’ from Sungyeol lol. It was a long talk but I really didn’t hear it, sorry!! 

Next, they went into another segment, the best one imo! They said they were gonna do ‘Golden Bell’ and they staff proceeded to bring out these desks that had dividers between them so they couldn’t cheat. Everyone was screaming ‘Cute’ but the boys couldn’t understand. It literally went on for like 2 mins. They were like ‘Oh they can’t see us?’ and we were like ‘No, we said you’re cute!’ So fans ended up chanting ‘Cute, Cute, Cute’ and they were like ‘Oh, out of the blue?’ lol Then Sunggyu was like, ‘Okay can we explain the rules now?’ The rules were that there would be 12 questions, for each question each member gets right, they can get a stuffed animal that they will later throw into the crowd. They each get 1 Ask Inspirit Chance and 1 Double Point Chance. They also said the person with the least points will get a punishment (which Sunggyu said would def not be him). The first round was ‘Korean’. They gave only the first letter of every syllable and the boys had to guess. The first answer was ‘Over the Top’ and the second was Sungjong’s lemon candy phrase. The second round was Science. They showed a zoomed in picture of a chin and they had to guess who it was. Hyung line thought it was Myungsoo and Dongsaeng line thought it was Sunggyu. It was Sunggyu. Sungyeol said it was cause of his stubble. Sungjong said Sunggyu has big hair pores or something of the sort lol. The next pic was an outfit (body with no face) and only Sungyeol got it wrong. He thought it was Dongwoo but it was Woohyun. He asked when Woohyun had such thick thighs lol. The next was guessing lyrics. They had to finish the lyric of ‘Fixed Star’. Next they played a short clip of a song and it was so easy but Dongwoo and Sunggyu couldn’t hear it and kept asking for a repeat but Yeol was like NOPE! They did repeat it a couple times though. It was ‘Breathe’. Then they gave questions about what members have said in the past. Like one was from the interview with Sunggyu and Baby Soul about what leaders must have, ‘good looks’. Another was what phrase Sunjong kept getting wrong during ‘Real Men’. He kept calling their troop ‘New York University’ or ‘University of Education’. Another was what Woohyun said he was in charge of on Sketchbook, sentiment. Another was what Dongwoo said his lyrics on ‘Paradise’ meant, filling your desire/appetite. Another was to name 5 songs where Myungsoo starts the song. I feel like there was a question about Sungyeol but I can’t remember. Anyway, Sungjong and Woohyun got 6 and Dongwoo got 4. So he lost. Everyone else had 5.

They all said that Dongwoo lost as predicted so they brought out a wheel. Each section had different punishments. Can’t remember them all, but right as Dongwoo spun it, they were explaining what the crown meant. They said if he gets it he can pass the punishment to someone else, and of course, he landed on the crown. Woohyun started doing aegyo to Dongwoo so Dongwoo said he’s safe. Then they all lined up and started doing aegyo and he passed Sunggyu. Sungyeol was trying to plot something after he got passed and Dongwoo ended up choosing Myungsoo and Myungsoo felt very slighted lol. So Myungsoo spun and... he got the crown too! So he said the person who was supposed to be punished should be punished. Dongwoo spun again and... got the crown again lol. So he gave it back to Myungsoo. Myungsoo spun and... got Random Dance. So they played ‘Gashina’ by Sunmi and omg it was pretty good lol. I’ve seen vids up on this, so try to find one! The members were saying it was kinda lame so they put on this kind of trot-like song and he just did random things like shooting arrows and the running man and stuff lol. We then started chanting for everyone to dance but Sunggyu and Woohyun kept talking over our chants. I couldn’t hear what they were saying cause of the chants but prob something about wrapping up the segment. We were literally battling like that for a good minute but Sunggyu finally said, ‘We’re gonna perform ‘Entrust’ now’ and everyone was -__-

They performed ‘Entrust’ and then ‘Cover Girl’ and were throwing the stuffed animals they got during the quiz. Sungyeol kept trying to reach the 2nd floor and he finally did it and everyone was so surprised lol. That boy’s competitiveness lol. There was a short talk... for the life of me I can’t remember what it was about. Then they perfored ‘The Eye’. Then a curtain came down and we did our ‘Come Back Again’ chant. There was a teaser vcr for the new album and they came out and performed ‘Begin Again’. There was no choreography, just standing mics and singing with lyrics in the back. It was a cute upbeat song! They did another short talk and said goodbye. Then they performed ‘White Confession’. Dongwoo did all the raps but changed the lyrics of Hoya’s part, so everyone was really surprised! Then a last vcr came on. The bgm was ‘Thank You’ and it was hand written letters from the members. It was very cute.

Overall, the fan meeting had really good ideas. I enjoyed the segments a lot, but Woollim’s preparation was just subpar. From the mistakes on stage, to the fact that they didn’t even have all the merch when they opened up sales... ugh smh. But they did seem to try to control the crowd more. They were def more strict with time and not letting Inspirit get away with everything. But it makes sense cause the meet was already 3.5 hours, so if we got everything we wanted it would be another 4 hour meet. And then where will it ever stop? So, I understand why they were a bit more strict. I have to admit, I’m glad Woollim seemed to put more effort into what the fans want. Well, that’s it! That’s the fan account I have for today. I’ll be going to the others as well. If there’s enough material to make another fan account, I’ll def try to make some time for it. Please keep loving and supporting INFINITE and although we’re not as active as we used to be, please continue to support us as well! Just know that even if we’re not active on our blog, we both still actively love and support the boys and we always will~

On Donnie Kwak’s dismissing BTS and frustrating comparisons.

Here’s the Kwak article I’m talking about:

To that end, BTS — from the relatively tiny label Big Hit Entertainment — leans hard into K-pop conventions. Keeping it real in K-pop, ironically, means keeping it somewhat fake. They dress similarly; they dye their hair; they smile for pictures and make cute finger hearts; they are “super excited to be here”; they sing and rap adequately; they lip-sync and dance impeccably. They are incredibly polished performers, seasoned over years of K-pop factory training, who choreograph their offstage decorum as carefully as their onstage theatrics. Their personas are anodyne to the point of artifice, more cringey than cool. This is K-pop.

Other people have picked this apart already with regards to BTS, so I won’t pile on; I will point out that Kwak wrote a much more nuanced article about CL last year, so I suspect his dismissive take on BTS is not rooted in wholesale K-pop dislike or some sort of Asian-American less-off-the-boat-than-thou stance, but rather greater familiarity with and respect for YG acts.

But his description stung in another way, for me. It doesn’t fit BTS very well; BTS’s charm has been only partly how much they’re willing to conform to Korean idol pop standards but also how much they’re willing to reveal of themselves within those standards (see this example and this one from the  seminal BTS Week by @maddieloveskpop, and that’s 2 1/2 years old now). But Kwak’s dismissive summary actually works quite well if you apply it to Infinite.

I watched the American Music Awards last night, and the Twitter livestream of the red carpet, and various other bits and pieces of interviews this past week; much as I’d like to be all, “Oh, no, I’m not an ARMY, I just check in on BTS once in a while,��� that would be a barefaced lie. (Once you’ve used the dance-practice videos for “War of Hormone” or “Baepsae” or “21st Century Girl” or “Go Go” for temporary emotional ballast, the jig is up.) You know what I haven’t watched? Any Infinite VLive made since Hoya left. Actually, no, wait. I think I did watch one solo VLive Sungjong made, and after the fifteenth or sixteenth time he said, “Inspirits, I miss you, please wait for us,” in a five-minute span, I turned it off.

When @knight-of-clubs visited me over the summer we watched a VLive together, of Dongwoo and Sungyeol in traditional costumes, joking around. It was a half hour long, and afterwards she said, “Wow, I can’t believe they managed to keep it up that long without actually saying anything,” and I agreed. It was polished and practiced; silly and completely insubstantial; boring.

One of the frustrating things about watching BTS, as much as I enjoy it and as glad as I am for their success, is wondering how much they’ve been able to accomplish because they were allowed to. This is not to take away credit from BTS for creating their own destiny: my understanding is that RM and Suga, as underground rappers, wouldn’t have plumped for an idol group that wouldn’t have let them write their own beats and lyrics, and Jungkook chose BigHit over other companies in part due to RM’s presence. But how many artists would talk about mental health and societal pressure, if they felt (or if their bosses felt) comfortable enough to take the risk?

(As I’m typing I can hear @anonciate​ going “BUT TWICE THOUGH,” and we definitely need to have a conversation about the Grand Unified Theory of Twice’s Emotional Constipation as related to lyric composition and JYP’s approach to management.)

And the thing is, there was a time when Infinite was able to act more open and less bland, and I distinctly remember it: the spring of 2013, just after I had begun following them, when they were promoting “Man in Love”: interviews where they were drinking and interviews where they vented about not being able to take bathroom breaks as trainees, and one memorable Twitter exchange where Hoya and Sungyeol were comparing Dragonball Z drawings and Myungsoo was like, oh by the way here is my published book of photography thanks guys. And then they got hit by several scandals: Sunggyu calling a woman a yomeul, but much bigger than that was Myungsoo’s dating scandal, the one that left him crying during the One Great Step tour. My theory is that the members grew much more conservative in their communications after that. (The rocky launch of Lovelyz probably didn’t help either.) Only gradually, here and there, did they start to open up again (the VLive sessions to promote Infinite Only—Sungyeol's casual, impatient, fifteen-minute session was a hoot—and then Woohyun’s rambling VLives at the begining of the summer, before Hoya left); and now, having to prove themselves as six, they’re going to be extra careful this promotional period.

Previously I never quite understood the (reported) Korean idol fan ideal of staying true to one group and one group identity; feeling like, well I like Infinite first and foremost but I also like SHINee and 4Minute and Ladies’ Code and EXID and so on and so forth. Now I actually feel like I’m cheating on Infinite, as irrational (and egotistical) as that is. And for something that isn’t within their control! Infinite’s style of music and presentation was always going to play better in the East Asian and Southeast Asian markets than in Western ones; it was to their advantage to concentrate on learning Japanese instead of English; they’ve always been in a market that doesn’t allow for slipups, under a company seemingly more afraid of risking market share than BigHit has been. I can’t argue for years that Infinite is more than their onscreen personae and then turn around and wander off because their onscreen personae have become less interesting than someone else’s.

I hope this comeback, whenever it happens, goes well: well enough to reassure the guys that even though Hoya’s employed elsewhere and Sunggyu has to enlist soon and they’re now no longer the hot new thing, they still have a loyal audience, they don’t have to be flawless to the point of boring, they can let themselves relax a bit. I’m rooting for them, still; them and BTS, no matter how impressive the latter gets.

OVERCOMING CRISES AND THE SEVEN YEAR CURSE WITH TRUST

INFINITE made their debut on 9th June 2010 with the mini album ‘First Invasion’ (title track ‘Come Back Again’) and are welcoming their 7th anniversary this year. Many idol groups in South Korea - most commonly as a result of member changes, enlistment and inability to gain enough popularity - face issues regarding future development as they are unable to break past the seven year curse. INFINITE’s first time on Hanryu Pia was after the release of their second album and another time was during promotional activities for ‘She’s back’. After rising to fame, the INFINITE members branched out separately from simply producing music as a group to each participating in various fields such as drama, variety and musicals. They grew to become individuals who could feature on huge billboards or the cover page of magazines even if they were all by themselves without the backing of the group. Although our chances to interview them gradually diminished as they grew into hugely popular acts over the years, being able to sit down with them now even after a long period of time has passed is more than what we could wish for. They are familiar with our staff members by now. This time, too, “Ah~ it’s the Hanryu Pia interview today. It’s been a while,” L greeted us as we arrived at the photo studio. It is exactly because of our close ties dating back to before that today, we are able to reminisce INFINITE’s seven years together as well as the seven years of the seven members.

Sungyeol: (flipping through pages of our past interviews) What’s this? We- everyone was so ugly! This is hilarious. (laughs) Back to my point, we really looked so ruffled back then. Everyone, we all grew up right?

Hoya: After all, it’s been seven years. If we still don’t grow up, it’ll be difficult in the future.

Dongwoo: Although everyone went through some changes here and there, I feel that I have changed the most, right? I was very cautious and careful at the start but now I’m bolder, running all over the place.

Sunggyu: As for me, I changed into a totally different person. Not just my personality but everything else as well. Just like the Super Saiyan race from Dragon Ball.

Sungyeol: Speaking of this, we must have had a discussion before on the “crises” of the group. Personally speaking, I don’t feel any of such crisis but of course, each member has different thoughts.

Dongwoo: Yeah, there are none. It’s because no matter the situation, we are always in a state of preparation and grit to endure whatever we face.

Sunggyu: Right now, I can feel a very huge crisis.

All members: Huh? What is it?

Sunggyu: Whenever Dongwoo dyes his hair, the crisis his scalp is facing..

Dongwoo: Hahaha, (laughs) about that, it’s a mega-crisis. I already have wounds from it. (laughs)

Sungjong: Ah~ please stop fooling around, hyungs! When we come across any problems, we get it out immediately and clearly. After that, all of us will come together to discuss it or have a 1-on-1 dialogue session. We definitely do not throw tantrums by ourselves or be stubborn about it. Instead, we will get straight to the point and solve the problem right then. Isn’t this way of doing things better?

Yes, this is the kind of atmosphere. Even if seven years have passed, it has not changed. Always happily and wholeheartedly giving their everything for their jobs.

WHAT IS NEEDED FROM NOW ON AFTER ATTAINING 99.9% SYNCHRONISATION

Idol groups from prominent entertainment companies who made their debut in the same period as INFINITE achieved their first music show trophies barely a month into debut. However, it took INFINITE 450 days (‘Be Mine’) to achieve a win on a cable TV channel and another month totalling 488 days to achieve a win on a national TV channel (‘Paradise’). That was quite some time spent. The members cited “receiving our immensely cherished first win” as the greatest turning point for the group.

Dongwoo: We were really anxious before that. It was only when we got our first win that we finally gained the confidence. It was a really momentous milestone.

Myungsoo: Prior to receiving our first win, we really went through so many difficulties…… For the very first time when we heard our group name called for ‘Be Mine’, we were absolutely thrilled!

Hoya: We cried so awfully, everyone’s crying face then was so terrible. (laughs)

Woohyun: Even if I wanted to forget I could never~ My eyeliner was smudged and black tears were running down my face. (laughs)

After achieving their very first music show win, they made their debut in Japan. Ever since then, they have been winning first place on music shows consistently during every round of comeback. Even the goal they set for their Japanese debut - to top the Oricon charts - has been achieved. Having been through showcases all over Asia and two rounds of world tours, INFINITE have masterfully leapt onto the world’s stage.

Sunggyu: The world tour was another turning point too. Being able to show to fans in every corner of the world our capability as live performers, which we were unable to show through television shows, was an opportunity that propelled our growth as well.

Dongwoo: Speaking from my own perspective, it seems our views towards music and our understanding of it has changed ever since kicking off our world tour and the release of ‘Destiny’. We begin to have our own style of interpretation towards love songs that leans towards a sorrowful tone. When we released ‘Back’, that was when we really brought this style and our performance of it to a whole new level. What does everyone think?

Woohyun: That is indeed the case. Our producers changed from Sweetune to Rphabet and the impression left by our songs thus changed substantially as well.

Myungsoo: If we were to determine from the whole picture, didn’t INFINITE’s second season come about since the release of ‘Season 2’? The second season was this period of huge progress that included songs such as ‘Back’ and ‘The Eye’, songs that are full of a manly aura. Our songs from now on are likely to be even more grown-up and mature compared to before.

Speaking of INFINITE’s synonym, it has to be “99.9% synchronisation”. Regardless of which point in the song it is, the sharp, knife-like dances of the seven members are in sync right down to the angle of a lifted arm. That is also a mark of their youth. In this case, to the INFINITE members who have matured into grown men, what is it that is needed from now on? 

Sunggyu: Before, we focused on how to sharpen and synchronise our dance moves as best as we could because that was the only thing we could arm ourselves with in this industry. But as compared to before, we now place greater focus on how to communicate with and reach out to fans through our live performances. That is a kind of synchronisation that we can achieve only with our fans who know us and our music the best. Hopefully, we can become celebrities that will be able to stay in everyone’s memories in the future.

Sungyeol: Although I didn’t think of anything we particularly need, being able to grow suavely with time, maintaining our team spirit that has lasted us till now, standing together with my members facing the audiences on stage, I guess these are to me is what I really need. In other words, our personal will is what we really need. Between the members, we often discuss which sides of us we want to show to everyone in the future. Team spirit, regardless of past or present, will never change.

Woohyun: Yup! The feeling of trust and confidence is the most important. The mutual trust between our members.

THE LOVE FOR INSPIRITS THAT SEEPS THROUGH WORDS AND SONGS

Even though they have released a compilation album, the release of an actual album was still a year and a half after ‘For You’ came out. To INFINITE and their fans, this album can be said to be one that conveys the message “INFINITE is back!”

Sungyeol: Ah~ the hiatus in between was really long that even we ourselves got nervous. (laughs) Last year, we only held ‘That Summer 3’ concerts in Japan without any promotional activities for our albums so it’s really been a while since we’ve met our fans face to face when promoting our album. Although there are many fans who specially make the trip to South Korea to see us, it’s more meaningful if we fly over to meet them instead, isn’t it? I’ve been looking forward to the handshake events where I can meet our fans up close. Being able to share the feeling of happiness with every single one of them, how awesome is that~

Sunggyu: This is really an album that came out after a long time. It has songs from our Korean release of ‘Infinite Only’, three original compositions as well as remixed versions of songs that everyone is already familiar with. I’m really sorry that it took us such a long time. During all this time we’ve made you wait, we were working really hard on recording and filming the MV. The album contains feelings of our sorriness and worry and it would be great if it could become a beautiful present for Japanese fans who have waited to so long for us.

Sungjong: It’s a really awesome album. Instead of us talking about how great this album is, I think it’d be better if we let our fans hear it for themselves instead. Those who have yet to listen to it, please make sure you do, hm?

The title track ‘Air’ is exactly as Woohyun described earlier - a combination of strong melodies and INFINITE’s powerful vocals. It is the product of an impactful fusion between INFINITE’s sorrowful style of songs together with their fiery passion.

Sungyeol: A line in the song goes “yearning for the light and going towards it”. There was a scene in the music video where I was climbing the steps heading in the direction of the lights but when we were filming it, the set was actually pretty dark and the steps were really high. It was actually really scary when I couldn’t see clearly yet had to move up to a higher spot. I even thought to myself “I am definitely going to die once I step out!” as filming went on. My legs were shaking so much. Although I said to the staff not to film my legs, I am not sure how the music video will turn out? As a result of this, I am starting to have a fear of heights. (laughs)

Myungsoo: ‘Air’ is a song that packs a stronger punch. It has a very different feel compared to the other songs and it is one that shows a different side of us to fans. Regrettably, we were unable to show you INFINITE’s knife choreography due to Sunggyu-hyung’s injury so please anticipate it the next time.

In the song ‘Air’, Sunggyu sings “show it to me, that incredible radiance” during the chorus. This particular line left a pretty strong impression on us. Hence, we would like to ask the members this: what would everyone see if we were to request, “Please show something precious of yours to everyone!”

Woohyun: My mobile phone, probably. Ah, no, there’s something more important. The members! The important thing, our members!

Dongwoo: Hmm… air. I guess it’s air. It’s something the living can’t do without isn’t it? And it just so happens it’s called “air” too. (referring to the album’s title) Ahaha. (laughs)

Sungyeol: For me, it’s my body.

Sungjong: Muscles? Recently you’ve been working out a lot right?

Sungyeol: I didn’t mean muscles, what I meant was that what’s important is the issue of maintaining our health. If we are not healthy, doesn’t that mean we would not be able to be with our fans? That’s the reason why these days, I’ve been leading a lifestyle that revolves around exercising by working out at least four hours a day. For Sungjong, the important thing should be your throat, right?

Sungjong: Yup, that is very important. As one grows older, the body becomes weaker so we have to start taking care of it as well as we value our treasure-like vocals. (laughs) Normally, I would either roll my lips to train and relax my mouth or do some throat-stretching exercises.

Sungyeol: Even when sleeping, he wears a custom special protective sleeve around his throat. Says it’s because he doesn’t want to risk his throat and neck hurting and wants to protect them properly.

Sunggyu: Hmm~ If I had to single out just one, I would say it’s probably the albums we released in the past. Although my thoughts, memories and efforts can’t be outwardly shown to audiences live, the one thing that encompasses all of these together in one package have got to be our albums. They are invaluable gems that we only achieved after putting in so much hard work.

Myungsoo: As for me, what is important isn’t really any physical thing but time. Regardless of whether it’s something brand new or something important, it is all because there’s time for me to prepare for it that I can present it well. Be it singing or dancing, time is definitely important in order for us to be able to show different sides of us to everyone.

Hoya: Everyone, did you forget it because it’s right in front of you? The most precious thing has got to be Inspirits of course!

All members: Oh, right! Of course, as expected of Hoya!

Hoya: Indeed, as expected of Hoya. (laughs) There are times when I cannot help but think “Is there any value in my existence? Where do I stand exactly?” During times like these, it is our fans, who are witness to the value of my existence, that assure me telling me “It’s alright!”. I am really grateful and thankful.

INFINITE’s path to solidifying their position in the present day was definitely not a comfortable and easy one. Stumbling into various obstacles throughout the way and pumping in so much hard work it seems as if their blood could physically seep out from an intangibility as such, they finally have the glory they deserve. It was Inspirits who have been with them for the past seven years through thick and thin. The song ‘Thank You’ is dedicated to Inspirits, who can be described as half of the wings that hold and support INFINITE.

Dongwoo: Up till today, so many things have happened, no? There are the good and also the bad. With Inspirits, it feels like there is a tug-of-war going on between us? You can say it’s like a mutually dependent relationship. Even though we had travelled across the globe to greet and deliver our gratitude to Inspirits from every corner of the world, this song isn’t as simple as a few words and phrases strung together. It contains our heartfelt feelings. Being able to express a message coming from the bottom of our hearts makes us happy as well.

Woohyun: As of today, it has been more than seven years since our debut. From the past, and even in the future, it isn’t a “happy ending” for Inspirits and INFINITE but a “never ending”.

There is another new song, ‘Waiting For The Moment’, that we hope fans can listen to while reading the lyrics. This song is one that really tells the story of INFINITE. A line in the song goes “try and take a step out towards the goal that still seems far away”. What are some of the goals that INFINITE have for the future?

Sunggyu: Yes, this song is a song about our story. I really like it and even suggested to use it as the title track although this didn’t work out in the end. (laughs) Goals can be a certain place or a certain moment in time. While recording this song, I’ve been thinking to myself “Is this referring to the present? Or the future? When exactly?” Right then, what was running through my head was that when our fans are listening to our music regardless of whether they hear it live or at home, which is to say, that one moment when our music is able to reach out to our fans, I guess that is the goal that is implied.

Myungsoo: There is a feeling of hope in the song. It awakens not only our memories but also serves as a reminder of the memories shared between Inspirits and us. The song contains our gratitude towards our fans as well. It is a song that holds many meanings. Right now, this song also encompasses all of my feelings.

Hanryu Pia’s【Basketball Finals】— There was a basketball court in the courtyard of the venue where we set up our photo studio and held the interview. Sungyeol and Woohyun played rounds of shooting goals very happily. However, their game was stuck in a deadlock that was won easily by the manager as soon as he entered the game. Sungyeol, who earlier mentioned he’s been consistently exercising all this while, stated “I must have over-exercised, my legs are aching!”

170304 – INFINITE Rally III Fanaccount

So those who follow me on Tumblr would know I flew to Seoul to attend the rally on the 4th of March. The atmosphere outside Jamsil Stadium was awesome as usual. Fans were mostly decked out in their cutest outfits, many braving the cold to go through with short skirts and no leggings whatsoever, there was even one fan that went wearing only the pyjamas Woohyun wore on his Lie Down V App #cute. Orderly lines formed with different fansites giving out freebies at different points in time. It was very important to check Twitter by the minute or just run wherever the crowd went to see a new line formed. Fansites were mostly sitting around in cliques, so you’ve got the Hogam/Laile/Turning Point/Honeytree/Yeolna (I think) at one area, Springrain/Monodrama/MadeinL and Royal (I think) at another end and many others scattered around. There was also a photo taking area with the boys’ standees and also containers with the boys’ outfits displayed (x).

The fan meet would start at 5pm, so we entered the venue at around 4pm. They were having this event whereby inspirits could send in their photos they took at the venue via MMS and it would get displayed on screen when they did their last song, however as much as I tried, I couldn’t get my MMS to send so sadly, I didn’t get to participate in this. MVs of past INFINITE songs started playing and fans started getting energetic and riled up.

The boys started punctually with ‘Bad’, rising from under the stage to ground level and cheers emerged. Dongwoo did the solo dance today and it was a whole new level of hot! He was grinding the floor at one point and I went OMG. At this point, I have to say I got a seat at the last row of Level 2, but pretty close to the stage nonetheless, especially to the extended stage and the big screen. There was nobody to my right, but to my left sat the cutest Korean inspirit. We couldn’t understand each other but many times we just looked at each other and laughed and cheered together while waving our lightsticks, and covered our eyes when our boys were being too cheesy. I guess that’s the true meaning of how music bonds people together!

INFINITE started their ment at this time, because of how cool Dongwoo looked during his solo dance, the boys tried to make him dance the same thing to Woohyun’s Nod Nod! So they just randomly sang the chorus on stage and Dongwoo attempted to follow it through before falling onto the floor laughing (I think?) A few of the boys introduced themselves as different types of candies following Sungjong’s ‘I’m your lemon candy Sungjong’ and Woohyun even said he’s ‘our heart Woohyun’.

‘Between me and you’ was next and Sunggyu introduced this song as one he really really liked. The boys didn’t have those elevated stages this time so they just stood on different steps. There was this cute part where Myungsoo blew at his fringe after acing his high note.

They had their second ment here, they brought out the chairs so I knew it was gonna be a long chat. And I’m not sure why but I wrote in my notes that they were talking about ‘Bad’ here? Oh well, anyway they said for ‘Bad’ there was this part at the start that goes betting on you~ and Sunggyu said that they actually did a few different lyrics changes to it sometimes (didn’t really get this part) and he asked Dongwoo to tell us what he changed it to. Dongwoo said he’d sing it as Sajangnim nice~ lol. They then made Minseok sing ‘The Eye’ to which he did a fantastic job! They were laughing at something (I can’t remember what haha omg what’s wrong with my fanaccount) but Dongwoo almost fell off his chair!

They talked about the world tour (haha, that was a year ago but I guess they really enjoyed it) and they said how they would split into different teams during their private time. Sunggyu/Woohyun/Hoya were the opera team, Dongwoo/Myungsoo/Sungyeol were the walking around (visiting landmarks) team and Sungjong was a team on his own (oh baby why don’t you wanna join the others?) But Sungjong said he actually liked doing things alone in a different country. I think the boys teased him about having more staff following him for one person than them when the smaller teams went out. I think he had three staff with him while the teams only had two? I don’t know my Korean language skills are pretty non-existent. But there was once Howon actually went to Disneyland with Sungjong haha #hojong.

And since they were on the topic of world tour, Woohyun made them speak in different languages! Basically doing some simple self-introductions. Sungyeol started with Thai, Sunggyu was designated to speak in Chinese, Myungsoo to speak in Japanese, Woohyun asked Sungjong to do it in Korean #lol, and he tried making Howon do it in Bahasa Indonesia but Howon didn’t know so he put his mic to his mouth and tried mumbling while looking pretty embarrassed twice #cutie. Dongwoo then spoke in English and he got too excited because he was standing and stuff so Woohyun asked him to ‘sit down’ in English! I think at some point Minseok commented the boys could speak pretty good English and Dongwoo said yes or something and they talked about stuff, presumably about breakfast and Dongwoo just said ‘Morning rice’! They also mentioned their sleep routine or was it their skincare routine. I don’t know what happened but Woohyun also spouted out English and said ‘Music is my life, you know what I’m saying’ #lamehaha For how vocal Howon normally is, he was pretty quiet the entire time, maybe tired from filming?

Minseok then commented (read off his cue cards hahaha) that Sungjong did really well in Knowing Brothers and Woohyun came out and said that Sungjong wasn’t trying to be funny or comical by pretending he didn’t know how to control the soccer ball, he honestly tried to do it but failed and it turned out looking so funny. Then, a soccer ball rolled onto the stage from the side lol and they made Jongie try it out once more to bounce the ball off his chest. As expected, he hit it with his head again and the ball flew towards the standing section lol.

They also talked about Sunggyu’s solo album, and about the double title tracks and how every member like ‘The Answer’ however Sunggyu pointed out that he along with Howon really enjoyed Kontrol more. The boys also asked if Minseok had any questions he wanted to ask himself, because he was conducting the session based on questions off the cue cards, and Minseok was like ‘I have absolutely nothing to ask because I know everything’. Minseok then went to the edge of the stage and held his microphone out to a Myungsoo fan at the standing section to ask if she had any questions but I think she was too star struck because she didn’t say anything. Continuing on with questions, they were asked to point out who would really have it hard without the rally (as in who really really needed this rally) and almost everyone pointed at themselves except Dongwoo. Sunggyu then asked ‘is it okay for you to not have this rally?’ lol.

They made Howon do the acrostic poem with ‘Mu-Han-Dae-Jib-Hoe’ as in ‘INFINITE Gathering’ and there were a few words whereby Howon paused extensively to think but he made a really good one judging from the reactions from the fans. Woohyun then asked if they should go on to their next stage now and fans said yes and he said he could see fans signalling him that he was talking too much and the session should continue and fans did the cross sign with both their hands to ask him to stop talking (I’m sure he was joking at this point haha)

A video came out while the boys went backstage to change and it was of them wearing suits and looking so so handsome. It was the suits the boys did their V App in previously. And I think they played a few games in the video to decide who would be king for the games they’d do on stage! The games came in the order of:

1. Noraebang (They sang Come Back Again but only got 83 points haha, Sungjong sang The Answer, Dongwoo got Shot, Woohyun did Nod Nod and got 99 points),

2. They had counters attached to different parts of their bodies and they had to shake it to get as many counts as possible! It was hilarious seeing them shake with all their might,

3. They had to eat something, I think it’s spicy? I’m not sure about this one,

4. They were given a word of phrase each and one member had to do the actions while other members guessed what word/phrase that was,

5. They were give a can of coke (I wonder if it’s because they’re no longer Pepsi’s endorsers so they chose coke on purpose haha) and had to finish the whole can without burping perhaps (but many boys gave up halfway). 

Anyway, Woohyun was selected as king through the games! We got DNA Korea version as our next stage and I was such in awe because when they did that dance move where they swung their hands that was so powerful!

They stayed on stage for their next ment and chatted about That Summer 3! One part they were talking about the Busan concert and Woohyun said he had a runny nose then he really needed to wipe his nose because he could feel it coming out and Dongwoo said he could’ve done it to the dance moves during Be Mine and demonstrated it on stage lol. Minseok also did a Come Back Again dance move and fans went ‘wowwww’ and immediately Woohyun went ‘It’s not right he didn’t even do it correctly why are you wow-ing for’ lol what an idiot XD.

The King throne/chair was moved out and they started the missions with inspirits! I think there’re lots of fancams for this so I won’t elaborate too much. Dongwoo was first to spin the wheel, and while Woohyun had the crown and was sitting comfortably on the throne, Dongwoo managed to spin to the crown sign on the wheel and the king changed to him! He was so happy whereas Woohyun looked confused and shocked, kinda like ‘I haven’t even started having fun and I already stopped being king???’ Jongie was next and he had to do 2X dance play. He went in front of standing and asked who knew how to dance to ‘The Chaser’ and the crowd just swarmed in front so he picked a fan wearing glasses and the security literally carried her over the barricades and onto the stage. She did pretty well considering it was 2x! She was a Jong fan and Jongie hugged her in the end. Sunggyu was next, and his mission was to gift a fan his hoodie and Dongwoo chose standing section for Sunggyu to gift his gift to! I think Myungsoo was next and he spun the wheel to get the same mission as Gyu. He chose to gift his tumblr jar to a lucky fan on Level 3! And I have to say I was super super lucky because where I sat, that was the route he took to head up and down the stairs onto Level 3 so I got to see him up close and personal. God Myungsoo, he smiled and waved while heading up.

Sungyeol (I think?) was next and he had to dance to girl group dance and it was TT he had to dance to! He did it on stage it was cute. Woohyun was next, he got the mission to re-enact a scene off ‘Goblin’ and he was also chosen to go to Level 3, and once again he took the route Myungsoo took so I saw him really close too. Woohyun and the fan were really cute, they were so shy the first time round so they had to do it one more time and the fan burst out crying at some point. And Woohyun was hugging her and patting her head. Then Howon was next and he kept spinning the stuff other members had already completed so he had to keep spinning the wheel. Finally, he got a new mission and it was to wear couple tee with a fan and he made everyone scream. At first, he wanted to go to Level 2 and Yeollie said ‘since your mummy is on Level 2 you should gift this to her’ and Sunggyu said ‘you can take a selca with her too.’ He eventually went to standing C. He was in front of my section too so I saw him quite close and he’s so handsome and looked so sweet when he said he wanted to take a selca with the fan too while wearing the shirt. I think one side of the shirt said ‘pretty’ and Howon said he’d take that and gave the fan the other shirt lol. When the fan took out her phone, he was quick to note that the display screen was Woohyun lol #mypoorbaby After the mission, he sent the fan off and when she turned he did the action of wanting to hug her but she didn’t see it so he just wrapped his hands around his waist and pretended he was hugging himself lol.

They then ended the ment and continued with songs, this time ‘Love of my Life’ in Korean too, the one Myungsoo did for his solo at IEA. Howon was still wearing the couple tee at this point so it was cute.

We got another video where the members summarised their last 7 years with their thoughts and memories and I got so emotional I was tearing up at this point because look at how far we’ve come!

The boys came back out again and sang ‘One day’ which will be one of my favourite stages to witness live!! Another ment here and they made all the members do Sungjong’s neck movement from ‘Bad’. I remember Gyu doing it like how he’d do his morning aerobics #grandpagyu. Woohyun kept saying he’d prefer doing Jong’s other line ‘이제 깨닫는다’ more and he kept imitating it saying Sungjong would pose there and wink. Howon did a super sexy improvised version of the song. He also did the action to the first line of ‘One Day’ haha. Sungyeol said he’d do a 100% imitation of Jong’s movements and even Jongie was surprised and he went ‘oh am I really like this?’

They said ‘The Eye’ would be the last song and proceeded with that stage. They went backstage and inspirits started chanting Dorawa dorawa Dashi Dorawa~ and this has got to be one of my favourite parts of the fan meet because inspirits chant it tirelessly and we know the boys will be out with another amazing part of the program. After about 3-5 minutes, the screen showed the comeback teaser for May 2017!! I know I told my inspirits-only admins before that the video was safe to watch but boy I was wrong. Watching it on the big screen and seeing the boys’ faces up there was amazing!!!

The members gave us another song ‘As good as it gets’ this time coming down from different doors of Level 2 #Ifeltsoblessed. Honestly towards the end, I was on my feet most of the time with my cute Korean inspirit seating mate since we were at the last row and nobody sat behind us and I enjoyed the ending part so much I couldn’t really remember much of the end heh. But the members shook a lot of peoples’ hands before going back up on the stage for what would be their ending ment (except it wasn’t as we already know). We did Myungsoo’s birthday support banner then when it was his turn to speak and the place just lit up with white banners for him and it was beautiful. We sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him and Woohyun was like ‘okay can we have the cake now please’ except the cake his fansite prepared didn’t get wheeled out not sure why #awkwardpause. Haha, we chanted for Myungsoo not to cry when he wasn’t crying. And then the members went chanting ‘please cry please cry’. Myungsoo said something like we were his happiness these seven years and he was so sincere in it it was very touching.

When Hoya did his ending speech, the stadium was particularly quiet because everyone was listening earnestly to what he had to say. Then suddenly from standing we could hear the staff shouting really loudly ‘Come out’, presumably to an inspirit who was taking shots of the boys. It would’ve been really awkward for the fan, so Howon stepped up and joked ‘you want me to get out?’ and the members also joked about it a little and then Howon and Woohyun and Sungyeol were apologising to the staff to let the fan off the hook. They’re such angels. During Sungyeol’s ment I think he also mentioned something about 7 years and I can’t remember what he said but a fan shouted 7000 years and Yeol was like ‘I’m not the Goblin okay?’ For Woohyun’s Ment, he was talking and then suddenly a fan said ‘arrasseo~’ and he was like that sounded like a primary school kid’s conversation, like how he would chat with his friend. Then, after that every sentence he said the members and fans replied him with ‘arrasseo’.

Right now as you know the boys were supposed to just end it with one last song. However, the boys being the boys with their love for us and for the stage and because the atmosphere was so so high. They asked if they had time to do a few more songs as service for us!! On Woohyun’s side the staff said no, but at Dongwoo’s side the staff said okay so the boys went ‘alright we’ll do it as what the staff (on Dongwoo’s side) said! :D’ We wanted songs like ‘The Chaser, Be Mine’ however I think they couldn’t find the tracks for it as we settled for ‘Entrust and Cover Girl’ first! The boys again went out onto the extended stage and also onto Level 2 so I was quite close to see their faces clearly too. They were enjoying it so so much!!! They did ‘Nothing’s Over’ next (completely random but because they didn’t want it to end) They were apologetic because they couldn’t find the AR for it only the MR, and we went ‘Of course the MR is fine!!!’ You could hear how well and stable and loud the boys sang. Kings, talented kings only INFINTE!!!

They were so hyped but they knew the staff wouldn’t find any more tracks for them so our sing-along karaoke session started! Medley after medley of songs where the boys just sang together with inspirits. The feeling to be part of that was the best really especially to see yourself surrounded by others who shared the same passion as you! My Korean inspirit partner and I were just waving our lightsticks and singing all that we could! Woohyun, Dongwoo and Hoya were especially good in starting new songs for inspirits to sing along and I was particularly surprised because Myungsoo too, started a few songs!!! He was so into the whole thing!! The boys even said they wanted to bring their after-party onto the stage they just needed some alcohol and they could continue partying with us even if they’re drunk and can’t stand properly. They even sang ‘Monster Time’ and at this point Sunggyu was on the floor laughing at how ridiculous and amazing the whole thing was. Towards the end, they also sang the theme song of Digimon and Pokemon!

Last (yes, the final one) ment here but I can’t remember what they said before concluding their stage with ‘Thank You’. Myungsoo cried at this stage and Dongwoo rushed to give him tissue. The boys went to both sides of the extended stage and did 90-degree bows before heading back onto the centre stage for one final bow. Still a lot of them were teary-eyed and took long looks at different sections of the stadium, trying to soak in on everything.

The fan meet felt more like a concert and INFINITE made me realise how lucky I am to stan the right group. I know I always say how each concert I attended was the best, but seriously, because I wasn’t expecting so many songs for this fan meet, I really can’t express the feeling to be there, to love them. 44,000won for almost 4 hours of a dream come true? Thank you INFINITE!

Thank you thank you thank you to @hoyainifinite for tagging me to do this! Sorry for my super long responses LOL. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to make up questions + tag people right now :(

1. if you had one question you could ask infinite (as a group or towards a single member) what would it be and why?

This is probably kind of dumb but I would want to ask them what their all time favourite INFINITE songs are (or what INFINITE song has the most meaning/impact to them), and I want them to answer truthfully. When they get asked this in interviews and stuff, the answer is always something off of the new album for the sake of promotion, and I don’t want that LOL.

2. Have you been to a concert? Who’s concert? What was it like?

A Pink, Teen Top, Brian Joo and G.NA had a show in Toronto back in 2012 that I went to. There was a reeeally tall guy standing in front of me so I honestly couldn’t see much :( I also went to One Great Step in New York! The pushing/shoving was one of the entire crowd was one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced. It was still probably one of the best days of my life though.

3. Your favorite live performance and why?

I SWEAR I SHOULD HAVE BETTER ANSWERS FOR THIS BUT I CAN’T THINK OF ANY.

I’ve been watching this a lot recently. They’re so dumb and cute... but mostly because of Woohyun’s part at the end asldjalksdjlsdjaslkdj

I’ve always loved this performance because of how clearly you can hear their live vocals.

4. What infinite member do you think has the personality closest to yours? the member that has the personality most different to urs?

My personality is closest to... Sunggyu’s? I don’t really know how to explain it. I think he’s the most level-headed, and I like to think I’m like that too? I asked my friend and she thinks I’m like Hoya and Sungyeol too... she says I’m funny like Sungyeol but I don’t think so LOL. I’m probably most different from Dongwoo. He’s such a ball of sunshine and I am so not.

5. Do you like getting up early or late? 

I’m not a morning person at all. I’d rather stay up late and sleep in the next day. With that being said, I went through some serious jetlag following a trip last year. At first I was really miserable waking up at 5am every day but eventually I actually started to like waking up early? That only lasted like, a week or two before I was back to waking up at noon LOL.

6. What’s something you feel super passionate about?

aaannnddd this is where I realize I have no passions. I’m barely making my way through life right now LOL. Honestly... science? I just find myself really iffy extremely abstract things and things that aren’t backed by science. But I’m also an idiot who doesn’t understand a lot of things so I may regret saying this in the future. 

7. Lead pencils or normal pencils or pens? 

Lead pencils, for the most part. 0.5mm lead to be super specific LOL. When I’m making study notes for exams though, I prefer to use pen because I find it easier to read large block of texts written in pen? It also forces me to write slower and focus more on what I’m writing because I can’t just go back and erase mistakes.

8. Sparkling water or still water?

Still water. I don’t drink bubbly drinks super often anymore so I’m not really a huge fan, especially if it’s not sweet or fruity!

10. string instruments or band instruments?

Omg both??? Together??? The whole orchestra??? I was in concert band in high school so I love the sound of band instruments, but the sound of string+band instruments together is beautiful.

11. 3 reasons why you stan infinite

Their personalities. I knew I was going to be in deep within like, 5 minutes of the first episode of Sesame Player. I fell for who they were in the first couple of episodes of Sesame Player before I even listened to any of their music besides their title songs.

Their music, obviously. I don’t even know what it is about it, but I have not disliked an INFINITE comeback since getting into them. IDK if it’s me being extremely biased, but I stan INFINITE because their music have never given me a reason not to.

Their group dynamic. This also kind of ties in with the first point. As a whole they’re just absolute magic together. I just love the way they interact with each other, and how all their personalities just work with one another and balance each other out. I don’t want to say their group dynamic hasn’t changed... obviously they’ve grown a lot as people and as a group but like... the video of them caking Myungsoo on his birthday! That was such a throwback to INFINITE back in 2011-2012! They’re still exactly the same in how playful they are with each other and it’s just so pure??????????

I know I’ve written about Sungkyu and a daughter before - but I just really wanted to imagine one with a son because Gyu with kids is bae. Okay, so this was the first topic that came to mind as I was brainstorming about what to write - hope you guys like it.

“Okay, I think that’s the last.”

“Yep, do you still need my help mommy?”

You smiled at your son, “You can go play now, Seojun.”

The four-year-old smiled as he skipped happily towards his bedroom. The two of you had spent the entire afternoon cleaning up after the lunar new year celebrations. The family had agreed upon your house as the designated get-together place this year. And so, the entire day was filled with endless chatter, eating and for Seojun, collecting pockets of money.

Placing the last plate inside the cupboard, you exhaled in relief and slumped yourself onto a chair nearby. Your husband was still out driving his parents home and so you enjoyed the few moments of silence you had to yourself. Eventually getting bored, you walked towards your son’s bedroom and laughed at the sight of him now covered in paint.

“Sweetheart, you shouldn’t paint yourself like that.”

Seojun grinned and stood up, placing the paint brush back in a cup, “I just wanted to see what it would look like to have a tattoo.”

You sighed as you approached him and brushed his bangs, “Do you want to have a tattoo when you grow up? I’m not sure daddy will be happy about that.”

“I guess not,” the boy shook his head, “I don’t want to look like this forever.”

Letting out a giggle, you took his hand and lead him towards the bathroom, “Come on baby, bath time.”

Watching him splash around, you couldn’t help but think about where the time went. It felt like just yesterday you and Sungkyu said your vows aloud. Now here you were, sitting calmly as your son explored the bathtub.

“Mommy?”

“Yes?”

“Why do I get money today?”

You laughed, “Why? Don’t you like it?”

“I do,” Seojun nodded, “but I don’t understand why it’s only once a year.”

“Well, you know how we celebrate the new year? It’s tradition that you kids receive money up until you get married.” You caressed the top of his head.

Seojun pursed his lips, “But that’s not fair, you and daddy should get money too!”

“I wish honey, I wish.” You replied in between fits of laughter.

The young boy picked up the toy boat that was floating in the water and mimicked the sounds of a speedboat. The entire day, he’d been wondering if celebrating the new year was like celebrating Christmas. It was quite similar, receiving money was almost like receiving unwrapped or unbought presents. He looked at his mother once more.

“Mommy,”

“Hmm?”

He hesitated, “Does this mean I get to ask for a present today?”

“It doesn’t quite work that way,” you smiled, “but tell me what you want. You’ve been a good boy today, maybe we can work something out.”

His eyes lit up, “Really?”

Nodding, you held his chin, “What is it, sweetheart?”

“Earlier this week, when I was playing with Minjae,” he resumed playing with the boat, “he told me that he was waiting for a special delivery.”

“And what could that be?”

Seojun looked at you, “His mommy told him that he was going to get a baby sister soon.”

Your eyes widened, Sungyeol had yet to tell Sungkyu that his wife was pregnant with their second child. You looked at your son once more, preparing yourself for the words that were to come out of his mouth.

“So can I have a baby sister as well, mommy?”

Blinking a couple of times, you thought about just which answer you were going to give him. Were you going to tell him that sounded like a good idea? Or were you going to tell him that you had to speak to his father about it first?

In the end, you settled for, “You know, for a baby to arrive, it’s not as easy as picking up the phone and ordering one.”

“What does that mean?” 

The little boy cocked his head to the left in confusion. You giggled, he was an exact replica of Sungkyu.

“Well, there’s a process in it all. And although I’m more than happy to give you a baby sister, you’ll have to wait for a while.”

He shook his head, “I don’t understand, mommy.”

Smiling, you stood up, “Ask your dad when he comes home. Now let’s get dressed, shall we?”

That night, Sungkyu sat comfortably on the couch with a book in his hand as he accompanied his son who had been coloring on the coffee table for the past hour. He smiled happily at the sight of the boy – how did he get so lucky? Just as he was about to ruffle the top of his head, Seojun turned towards him.

“Daddy, I have to ask you something.”

Sungkyu furrowed his brows, “What’s up, buddy?”

Seojun popped himself up onto the couch and crossed his arms, “Where do babies come from?”

Sungkyu stiffened, “What?”

“Well,” the boy looked at his father, “earlier today I asked mommy for a baby sister. She told me that there was a process to it and that it would take a long time before I could have one. She also told me to ask you to explain this.”

Of course, he had expected these questions to come out from the boy’s curious mind eventually – just not, now. For God’s sakes, he was only four and he was asking questions that his father only started to ask when he turned into a teenager. He made a mental note to scold his wife about this later.

“Here’s the thing,” Sungkyu cleared his throat, “do you know how you came into this family?”

The boy shrugged, “Perhaps I was delivered to your front door? You know, like when mommy shops online.”

Sungkyu burst out laughing, “Not exactly. Mommy and I had to wait for you for nine months.”

“Why is that?”

Biting his tongue, Sungkyu made sure to be well aware of every word that were to come out of his mouth, “Well, you were sleeping inside mommy’s tummy for a long time. After those nine months you just decided to pop out and say hi.”

Seojun’s jaw dropped in fear, “D-does that mean I hurt mommy?”

Sungkyu panicked at the sight of tears clouding his son’s eyes, “No, no! That’s not what I meant!” he picked his son up and placed him onto his lap, “We went to the hospital and-”

“You had to go to the hospital?” the boy sobbed hysterically, “B-but you said mommy didn’t get hurt! I hurt her, didn’t I?”

“Oh God, no, no I-”

The sound of giggling startled Sungkyu as he turned around and spotted his wife in fits of laughter by the staircase. He frowned at her and mouthed, ‘this isn’t funny’ as she made her way towards them. You smiled, your husband looked so lost at the sight of his son who was crying his eyes out – the whole thing was too adorable. Placing yourself next to them on the couch, you poked your son.

“Hey, why are you crying?”

Seojun looked up amidst his tears and held onto you, “Did I hurt you, mommy?”

“Of course not,” you laughed as you shook your head, “we went to the hospital because we needed you to be healthy. And so, the doctors made sure that you were ready to come home with us. I was perfectly fine, honey.”

Sungkyu scoffed and you threw a glare at him, “Yes, mommy was fine. Will you stop crying now? You’re making me feel bad here.” He said as he pouted at his son.

Seojun nodded and chuckled, “Sorry daddy, but mommy explained it better.”

“Yeah, yeah,” he rolled his eyes.

The boy grinned and threw his arms around his father, “But I love you just as much.”

“I cannot believe you made me do that.”

You laid down next to him on the bed and giggled, “Think of it as preparation for when the real questions come out.”

“He’s four!” Sungkyu scoffed, “He won’t be asking no questions ‘til he’s at least sixteen, trust me.”

“Whatever you say.”

Sungkyu tossed his arm behind you, signaling you to come closer to him. You smiled, even annoyed, you wanted to be as close to him as you possibly could. Snuggling into his warmth, you inhaled his familiar scent and let out a sigh. You’ve been together for years and his touch still very much affected you.

Placing a kiss on his collarbone, you smiled, “You’re such a good father, you know that right?”

“Oh I know,” he smirked, “I also know that I’m an incredible husband.”

You groaned, “There you go again, ruining the moment. You know for a second there I might have been turned on.”

His eyes widened, “Is that so?”

“Yeah, but that was before you went all alpha-male.”

“I thought you liked me being dominant in bed?” he placed his fingers on your chin and lifted it up so that he was now staring into your eyes.

Blushing crimson, you replied, “In bed, specifically.”

“That’s too bad,” he leered, “I kinda like this view right here.”

You squealed as he lifted you up so that you were now straddling him. Within a second, his lips were on yours as he slowly made his way down the usual trail. Moaning in satisfaction, you grabbed onto his hair, earning back a groan from him.

“Are we really doing this?”

He paused what he was doing to look at you, “Are you stopping me?”

“No,” you shook your head, “but are we trying right now?”

Sungkyu placed a soft kiss on your nose, “Why not? Besides, the trying part was the best part of getting Seojun, wasn’t it?”

“Gyu!” 


He chuckled, “Come on baby, let’s have some fun.”

the day sungjong leaves for new york is a big affair. howon rides in the sunggyu’s car with woohyun, myungsoo, and dongwoo. sungjong and sungyeol are in the car in front of them along with their parents, sungjong and sungyeol’s maternal grandmother, and all of sungjong’s luggage. even though sungjong and sungyeol’s grandmother and mother are barely holding back tears and won’t let sungjong out of their arms even as he laughs and continuously repeats that phones exist for a reason, the general atmosphere isn’t a sad one.

sungjong is right, after all - there are phones and computers and they’ll all be able to hear his voice and see his face as many times as they want and need to. he’ll be back between semesters for a month at a time, and for the summer for an entire three months.

after he checks in, they all walk him to the security gate to say their final goodbyes. howon stands back, almost to the side, and watches as everyone else hugs and kisses him - the youngest out of all of them, the last one they watched walk across that familiar platform in their high school to receive his diploma just a few months ago.

his carry-on is just a backpack - not the one he used for school, but a new one that sungyeol had bought for him when sungjong first received the acceptance letter to this program. he’s almost an entire head taller than howon now, even though when they just met, he’d only had a few centimeters on him. sungjong has also begun to lose his cheeks, the baby fat clinging to his jaw almost completely gone, and howon tries to ignore the pang in his chest when he thinks about how he won’t see sungjong finish growing up - he won’t be there.

he uses the time it takes for sungjong’s parents, grandmother, and the others to be completely satisfied in how much they’ve mussed his hair and nearly suffocated him to swallow down the rest of those feelings. this is going to be quite possibly a life-changing experience for sungjong, and he’s worked sleepless night upon sleepless night for this, and howon wants him to take the world by storm like he inevitably always would.

“this is a special occasion so don’t think i’ll let you touch him ever again,” sungyeol says, shoving howon forward by the back of his head. howon grins back at his friend, as he feels sungjong tugging him in by the arm.

he lets sungjong wrap his long arms around howon’s neck, face buried against the side of howon’s hair. howon pulls his own arms tight around sungjong’s waist and breathes in the scent he won’t smell again until december. “don’t eat too much shake shack,” howon says into sungjong’s neck. he feels the younger boy shake with laughter against him. “you won’t grow taller forever.”

“i’ll smuggle some back for you, hyung,” comes the reply as sungjong pulls away and smiles at him, eyes just a little wetter than they should be.

howon smiles back and pushes him with both of his hands on the omega’s back. “hurry up,” he says, as much of a laugh in his voice as he can inject without feeling his own eyes get too warm.

once sungjong is out of sight, howon feels woohyun’s hand squeeze his shoulder and sungyeol’s hand firm on his back. howon puts his hands in his pockets and turns to face them. myungsoo isn’t crying as hard as sungjong’s mother and grandmother are, but it’s a close call. “wanna get drunk?” woohyun slings an arm around howon’s neck.

howon glances at him with a half-smile. “you bet.”

there isn’t usually much traffic once howon gets out of the city itself onto the larger roads that lead him from seoul to incheon, but at around four in the morning, even the bit of traffic he usually encounters coming out of seoul is hardly there. it takes less than an hour today to get to the airport, and by the time he does, the first few barest rays of dawn are starting to peek through into the sky. he hadn’t slept at all tonight, afraid that he’d miss his alarm if he did.

he had work to get done anyway, and just started on whatever he needed to get through for next week once he had finished that in order to keep himself awake until it was time to leave.

the airport is as empty as the roads, the red-eye flights just beginning to land and most coming in on those planes are businessmen with chauffeurs from agencies and hotels waiting for them, holding placards with last names on them. howon goes to the board of arrivals, looking to make sure that sungjong’s flight was still due to land on time and to see which gate he needed to wait at.

even there, howon is fairly sure that he’s the only person who isn’t in a suit with a name-board. he takes his phone from the back pocket of his jeans. there aren’t any new messages he can look through because no one is awake at this hour, obviously. the last messages he received were from sungjong just before he’d gotten on the flight, nearly twelve hours ago. howon had sent him back suggestions for where sungjong wanted to eat once he returned, since more often than not, sungjong is hungrier for korean food than he is for sleep whenever he arrives.

sungjong had gotten on the plane and turned off his phone before he could read those messages, but now, when howon checks the chat, they’ve been read, which means sungjong’s flight really is on time, and he’s landed already - most probably reading the messages while waiting for his bags or during immigration.

people begin coming out of the gate about an hour after the arrival time that had been listed on the board. howon tucks his phone back into his jeans, hands in the pockets of his jacket as he bounces up and down on the heels of his feet, waiting.

the first time sungjong came home - from new york, after his two years abroad - they had all come to pick him up along with sungjong’s parents in the same way that they’d sent him off. it was like that when sungjong had gone off again two years later and when he returned a few weeks later. after three, four, five times, once it became sungjong’s steady career, and he began living with howon, it was either just howon or sometimes howon and sungyeol, or one of the others whenever howon just couldn’t make it himself.

sungjong insisted for a time that it was ridiculous and he could take himself to and from the airport by taxi, but howon thinks that’s more ridiculous and said exactly that to sungjong’s exasperated smile.

for the most part, howon knows sungjong understands now that howon does this almost as much for himself as he does for sungjong. from time to time, however, like yesterday, sungjong still tries to get howon to let sungjong take a cab. i’m going to land at five in the morning and you had meetings all week, hyung, sungjong had said, as howon watched him pack through his laptop screen.

you know we just eat and fuck around at those, howon had joked, grinning, and curling his fingers against the cotton of his joggers beneath the table - far from what the camera of his laptop could capture, where sungjong couldn’t see. he’d watched sungjong roll his eyes and smile back, not pushing further because even when sungjong had once told howon point-blank that sungjong was going to walk straight past howon and take a taxi even if he was there, howon had still come anyway, dragged a laughing sungjong to his car, and demanded that sungjong pay a fare since, after all, sungjong wanted to take a taxi so badly.

yesterday, howon had watched sungjong sitting on his suitcase, stomping on his suitcase, lying stomach down on his suitcase in an attempt to get it to shut, and he’d laughed and told sungjong that the omega was far too light to make even the slightest difference in getting it to shut - as well as asking him if he was trying to sneak in an entire year’s supply of fish and chips. he’d watched sungjong, and tried not to think about how, if he was there, he’d have jumped next to sungjong on top of the suitcase and they would’ve pressed it down together, each of them clicking the fastening closest to their hands.

he’d watched sungjong climb into bed holding the laptop and couldn’t help himself from imagining himself lying there beside him, one arm thrown over his stomach and the other pulling the blanket over both of them. he’d watched sungjong fall asleep through the screen of his laptop, and his finger hovered over his mouse pad for far too long before he brought himself to end the call.

“hyung!”

he hears him before he sees him.

there are more people than he expected now pouring out of the automatic double doors, and it takes him a moment before he sees the long, thin arm waving at him and the familiar suitcases piled on the luggage cart. he’s running in through the crowd before he knows it, around the cart and then his arms are around a small, warm waist and his face is pressed into a soft neck and he’s inhaling the scent of home.

sungjong doesn’t come home until new year’s.

howon had planned to take him out that night, christmas eve night, that sungjong should have landed had the snowstorm not escalated into the worst blizzard that both seoul and tokyo had seen in a fair decade. he’d planned to take sungjong to the christmas festival that they used to go to together when sungjong was in university, and then to see the display of christmas trees that had been put up near the square of shops beside their apartment complex.

sungyeol and myungsoo had also thrown a christmas party, expecting sungjong to have been home by then, and while they all still laughed and talked and drank until it wasn’t even christmas anymore, howon knows he isn’t the only one that felt the empty space - that they were all missing the person they were supposed to tease mercilessly and lovingly.

sungjong had video-called howon from the hotel room the airport had put him in later that night, the night he was supposed to come home. i had to wash my boxers in the sink and dry them on a chair, he’d said to howon’s unsympathetic guffawing. no stores are open so i couldn’t even buy new underwear, hyung, stop laughing.

that night howon listened to a good, solid two hours of sungjong ranting about the inadequacies of the airport staff and the various people who he’d watched make scenes in the middle of the airport and also the hotel lobby - from entertaining and dramatic to full-blown annoying and inconsiderate to the fact that everyone is stuck because of the snow and everyone had places to be.

maybe i should’ve just hopped on my suitcase and rowed my way back - it’s not that far, right? sungjong joked wearily, leaning back on the pillows and pulling his laptop closer to himself on the bed.

this is why you almost failed physics if it weren’t for me, howon teased, and sungjong smiled.

howon didn’t remember who had fallen asleep first that night. he just remembered waking up to his laptop having hibernated on its own, and a slew of messages in all of the chats he was in - from his group chat with woohyun and sungyeol, telling him to remember to bring quality alcohol or he’s not allowed in the house, to myungsoo reminding him to bring enough alcohol for the two of them once everyone else has passed out, to sunggyu threatening him not to give sunggyu presents for his unborn children because there’s been enough of that and to bring sunggyu something, to dongwoo pleading for him to bring food because no one else will remember to.

he opened all of the messages but replied to none of them yet.

before he went back to sort anything else out, he opened the messages he had saved for last.

they were photos of sungjong out in the snow, despite what he had changed his name in the chat to while howon was asleep. howon still has those photos saved to his phone, unable to stop flipping back and forth through them as he waits now at the gate for sungjong to arrive finally - six days later than he was supposed to be home, but howon would rather wait as long as it took if that meant sungjong would be flown over in safer weather.

howon assumes sungjong had taken these photos somewhere near the hotel - possibly just even in the parking lot or on the sidewalk, even though it really was snowing so hard, howon could barely make out sungjong’s face through the snowflakes and wind blowing his scarf around his face. it had snowed straight through the next three days before the storm finally stopped, and then it took another three days before conditions were safe enough and the weather wasn’t too dangerous for the engines.

sungjong had told howon yesterday that he was going to be on the first flight out the following day, and howon had only barely been able to sleep.

he’s done this so many times now - he’s fairly sure a good portion of the airport staff around all shifts know him - the people who work the bakeries and cafes around the perimeter of the arrival gates definitely know him, but for some reason, his heart still pounds loudly in his chest whenever he’s waiting for sungjong.

he’ll never say it’s easy because it isn’t. none of this is ever easy, and all of it has been so romanticised, but there is nothing fun or romantic or sweet about having lived together with sungjong for so many years now - the omega’s name is on the lease along with howon’s - but it hardly feels like they’ve shared a home at all. absence doesn’t make the heart grow fonder is a load of bullshit because all sungjong’s absence does is make howon miss him so much, there are times he’ll just be gazing into sungjong’s eyes through the screen of his laptop or phone, and the realization of the situation will hit him with crippling pain - that sungjong is miles upon miles away and howon isn’t looking into his eyes - just an image inside a machine.

there have been so many people who have no idea what it’s like giving howon advice - whether it’s from his colleagues, to friends of friends who hear about his and sungjong’s situation from the others, to his brothers, to even his relatives. some of them have told him it’ll get easier, some of them have told him that long-distance strengthens relationships.

he doesn’t think it’ll ever get easier, and he doesn’t think he’s in any place to judge how strong or weak he and sungjong are together.

all he knows is that no matter how hard it gets -

“good news or bad news first,” sungjong breathes against howon’s shoulder, seconds after the omega has thrown himself straight into howon, backpack half off his shoulders and suitcase crashed to the floor at their feet.

howon clenches his eyes shut and holds sungjong so tightly that he’s pretty sure the straps of sungjong’s backpack will leave indents in howon’s arms even through the sleeves of the alpha’s thick coat. “my tokyo bananas got squished?”

“okay - that was the bad news,” sungjong’s voice is more muffled now because both he and howon are hugging each other so closely, howon doesn’t think he could breathe even if he tried. “the good news is - “

“you’re home?” howon asks, and lets sungjong pull away slightly - just enough so he can look up into the younger man’s face.

sungjong presses his smile against howon’s mouth briefly - too, too briefly. “that, too,” the omega says, “but also, sunggyu-hyung’s box wasn’t squished so we can just give him the squished ones.”

when howon surges forward to kiss sungjong back this time, sungjong’s beanie flies off his head.

“you know,” sungyeol says, as he walks howon down to the security checkpoint, “i should technically be ripping your boarding pass in half right about now.”

howon grins. “you know, he’s going to come home in a week so regardless, in about a week’s time, you’re going to be seeing that ring on his finger and - regardless - soon we’re gonna be a real fami - “

“literally, you disgust me,” sungyeol cuts him off. “i should have killed you and fed your remains to my cats while i had the chance, but now my parents are expecting sungjong to come back engaged and he can’t be engaged to a box of organs.”

even though there are still quite a fair few people in the airport at this time of night, not yet so late that the flow of flights has slowed, it’s quieter than the usual hustle and bustle during peak time a few hours ago in the evening and late afternoon. the workers at the cafe howon always gets coffee from, sometimes with sungjong and sometimes for sungjong, while he’s waiting actually stared at him for a good few seconds upon seeing his suitcase as he and sungyeol grabbed a quick bite before going to check howon in.

he has a long wait until his flight actually leaves because it’s an international flight and he had to arrive two hours beforehand to get his boarding pass, so he plans to eat more once he’s inside and there are more actual restaurants. he’ll eat his fill at the airport and then opt out of eating on the plane. he plans to attempt to sleep as much as he can to minimize his jet lag once he arrives, although he has a feeling that no matter how exhausted he is when he gets there, he won’t be able to feel any of the tiredness.

howon pauses when they arrive at the passageway that leads into security. he turns to face sungyeol, and his best friend is looking back at him with some combination of exasperation, pride, and affection. “wish me luck,” howon says.

sungyeol snorts, yanking him forward into a hug and thumping his back fiercely. “you don’t need it, you cradlerobber.”

when sungjong opens the door, he yells so loudly that howon has to push him into the room and close the door behind them before kissing him silent so that they don’t startle the entire floor. sungjong stares, open-mouthed at howon, nearly stuttering when he asks faintly what howon is doing here - in paris - when he had told sungjong just two days ago that he would be in jeju for a conference.

sungjong is still in thin, gray joggers and a black t-shirt. his hair is wet and messy, and howon is fairly sure that he’d just woken up an hour before howon had messaged him. howon himself had arrived near the middle of the night, getting to the airport hotel sometime early in the morning, showering, and eating quickly before driving into the city. he’d only slept on the plane, over twelve hours ago now, but he’s never felt more awake in his life.

howon answers without words what he flew out of the country for - he answers with a broad grin as he lowers himself onto one knee in front of the person he’s loved for the past ten years of his life and that he’ll love for hundreds more. he opens the box he’d brought all the way from their home, thousands of miles away, and he says, “i promise to follow you wherever you go, if you promise to always come home to me.”

something between a gasp and a sob slips past sungjong’s lips before he presses the back of his hand over his mouth, eyebrows furrowing like he’s determined not to cry even though that’s a fairly lost cause, in howon’s opinion, judging by the way the younger man’s eyes are already brimming. “will you marry me, lee sungjong?”

howon barely gets the entire name out before he’s being kissed within an inch of his life. the ring nearly goes flying out of howon’s hand from the force that sungjong throws himself forward with. howon lands flat on his back on the floor, toppling over with sungjong on top of him, dampness forming against the collar of howon’s shirt.

“yes,” sungjong whispers, leaning back and smiling, swiping at the wetness on his face with the back of his hand. howon catches the tears with his thumb. “yes,” sungjong repeats, louder, voice slightly hoarse before he dips in and covers howon’s mouth with his own.

You stirred, awoken by the gentle brush of the spring breeze and you opened for eyes. You looked up through the trees to see that the sun shone brightly through the canopy of the trees. You sat and glanced around, slightly confused because you couldn’t remember falling asleep. You recalled you last moments before you fell asleep, trying to make sense of your situation. You remembered that you had wandered off the path of the forest, the one that you were accustomed to taking, in search of an adventure. You remembered walking…..and that’s it. ‘Strange’ you thought as you stood and dusted yourself off, taking in your surroundings. Nothing around you seemed familiar, so you concluded that you must have taken a break and dozed off. “That must be it!” You exclaimed to yourself, happy about solving your own mini mystery. You picked a random direction and began to walk, hoping you would eventually come across someplace familiar. You felt good as you began your journey and as you continued to walk you found yourself humming a familiar tune, even if you had only heard it once before. Even as you hummed it now, you remembered the time you heard it before. That time being when Dongwoo came to you and hummed, successfully lulling you to sleep.(a/n: In case you don’t remember, the song is Infinite’s Love Letter.) You smiled at the thought of Dongwoo, anticipation continued to grow as you waited for the time when you could see eachother again. However, you hoped the next encounter would last more than a day, but any amount of time you both received would be treasured.

‘Ok.’ You thought after, what felt like, an hour of walking. You looked around, nothing seemed even a bit familiar…..yet. However, you were beginning to lose the confidence you had in your sense of direction and you admitted to yourself, “I’m lost.” You looked down at the pocket watch, which you carry everywhere, and clicked it open. ‘Hmmm…It’s only 2:10pm.’ So it appears you haven’t been walking that long, considering the last time you checked the pocket watch it had read 1:37. Time seems to be going relatively slow today, but you took this as a good thing considering your current situation. You wanted to find an area where the trees would clear up, so you can get a grasp of where you were, however, in every  direction you turned all you could see was an endless line of trees. You started to continue the way you were going when suddenly you heard a pop noise to your right which caught your attention. You turned and walked in that direction, as you continued to hear a few more pops. ‘Hopefully I’ll find someone who can point me in the right direction.’ You continued walking and when you came to the entryway your heart skipped a beat. There in front of you stood a elegant white gate which held an infinite sign at its center and you had no doubt in your mind that you knew where you were.

Your hand stilled as you reached for its handle and there was only one thought running through your mind. ‘How did I end up in Wonderland? Was this even the same place you remembered?’ Deciding that you should check out the noises that you had heard, you gripped the handle and pushed it open. Similar to how you remember, you saw a long table, however, how it laid now was different. It was no longer adorned with tea cups, saucers, or even pots. The table was completely empty and it now laid on its side, the top facing you. You glanced around and thought that you stood alone, but that was until you noticed the top of three familiar figures. On the right was a pair of long brown rabbit ears, the middle was round black ears, and on the left was a hat that was covered in decorative yellow feathers.

You stepped inside the gated area, as the metal  gate closed behind you with a clang. The sound of the gate closing had alerted those who hid behind the table of someone’s arrival. You stared at the table, waiting to see if the three people behind would make a move first. After a few awkwardly quiet minutes, you could here vigorous whispers coming from behind the table. You smiled at their antics, ‘If I didn’t know they were there, I do now.’ Some sort of consensus must have been met, as the whispering had stopped, and a head peeked over the edge of the table making eye contact with you. “Ayeeee,” a rabbit eared man said, “Here we were worried that it was Woohyun, and it’s just _________.” The feathered hat donned head popped up at the mention of your name, “What do you mean _________!?” Sungyeol turned his head to look at Sungjong, “By _________, I mean _________.” Sungjong replied quickly, “I know what you meant, but I thought.…” He trailed off,  not finishing his sentence. A soft voice mumbled behind the table,“Cat.” He was promptly ignored, Sungyeol going on to ask, “What are you doing here anyway _____?” “I was actually hoping someone here could help me figure that out because I have no idea.” You said looking at the pair. “Cat,” Myungsoo’s voice called out again. Sungyeol turned to the mouse eared man and told him, “No, Myungsoo, it’s ________. Not a cat.”

*pop**pop*pop* sounded three consecutive sounds as the three in front of you yelled out in shock. A hearty laugh was heard among the trees, however the source couldn’t be seen. “AHHH,” Sungyeol yelled, “Now we’ve lost.” “Indeed you have,” a voice said, “Now you have  do as I say for a month. No complaints.” Woohyun emerged, seemingly from nowhere, with a grin on his face, “Thanks, _________. You were just the distraction I was waiting for.” Myungsoo sat up, “See, cat.” Woohyun walked over to you, “________, However did you end up here. For the second time.” Being included you answered, “I actually don’t know.” “Well, that’s unusual,” Woohyun said, “The best place for answers would most likely be the castle.” You had figured that it would come to going to the castle, and you were hoping to go there anyway. You couldn’t help it. You were hoping to find the one person that kept you thinking about this strange land, Dongwoo.

You couldn’t find the answers you needed staying here, so the four you were with pointed you in the right direction of the castle. The journey to the castle was long in distance, however it felt short with all the thoughts running through your mind.  You found yourself wondering how you ended up here, along with thoughts of Dongwoo. Some of these thoughts were; where he was, what he was doing, how he was doing. Though you couldn’t help but think of what you were going to tell the person responsible for winning your heart’s affection just exactly what he meant to you.

Time passes as such dusk was approaching, and the castle came into your view. You approached the front of the castle and stared, unsure of what you were going to do next. This was answered by a voice behind you, “I should be surprised, but I am honestly not.” You turned and came face to face with Hoya. He smiled, “What brings you here?” You stared for a second and dropped your gaze to the floor, “I actually don’t know.” He tilted his head slightly to the side, “I am sure you do.” He continued as he looked at the sky, “Isn’t it funny how when you are looking for something, be it a thing, a person, an answer, it turns up in the most random of ways. Sometimes it is the most obvious answer, yet the most unexpected one.”

You were not sure what to say, but before you could figure out what to say Hoya said, “He has been looking for something too.” He turns to you, “Dongwoo.” He then starts to walk along the side of the castle. You stay glued to your spot until he raises his hand in a gesture that tells you to follow.

He leads you to the back of the castle, and through the magnificent garden. No words were exchanged, as there was a feeling of understanding that no words could match. You stop in front of a large hedge entrance that surely lead to a maze. “Dongwoo is in there. Somewhere.” He said with a small sigh, “He went in earlier today to ‘figure something out’ and has yet to return.” “No one has gone in after him yet?” You questioned in slight worry. “No,” Hoya replied, “At least not until now.” You were glad that Hoya was going in to go find your dear friend. However, that idea was quickly erased with Hoya’s expectant stare. “You want me to go in?” You asked. “Yeah,” he replied turning to face you, “I figured you would want to find him, but if I am wrong I can take you to Sunggyu so we can get you back to where you belong.” You turn your gaze to the ground, “It’s not that I don’t want to go in. I just….” you trailed off feeling your embarrassment heat up your ears. He smiled, “I would probably head on in there before it gets too late. Good luck, and farewell, ________.” You stop him from turning around to leave you, “You’re leaving?” Hoya gives you a reassuring smile, “Hmm Yes, and no.” Your worry and doubt are beginning to set in and you can’t help but ask, “Won’t I lose my way.” He ruffles your hair, in a way a brother probably would,  “I’m confident that everything will turn out well in the end. Just trust me.” You did.

it’s been building up for a while. sungyeol knows that he really doesn’t have any right to be angry or upset or annoyed, even, about all of this. it’s just biology. it’s just nature. but he thinks that in a world where the majority of the population is comprised of betas, that he would have the luck to have friends that aren’t two of the most testosterone-driven alphas he’s ever had the misfortune of meeting in his entire life.

that’s not true, of course. he loves howon and woohyun, loves them like the older brothers he wishes he had instead of a younger brother whom he thinks might possibly hate him sometimes. but they just don’t understand.

he hadn’t known cameras could cost so much until myungsoo had sat down next to him one day when they’d gone to the riverbank together, until myungsoo had leaned his head against sungyeol’s shoulder and sighed, heavily, that sunggyu had spilled all of their parents’ soju on his camera. the memory card was safe, myungsoo had said, but the camera was ruined. how will i take pictures of you now? myungsoo had asked, turning to face sungyeol and taking sungyeol’s face in his hands, turning it this way and that. ah, it’s really too bad. sunggyu-hyung owes me big.

he’d gone home that night and searched up the brands of cameras he knew myungsoo used, and his eyes had popped when he saw the price tags listed under each one. it had been amazing to him how calm myungsoo was about the entire thing, but myungsoo had told him later that that camera was old, and he’d wanted an excuse to get a new one anyway.

it’s what had made him swallow his pride and ask howon and woohyun how to make an omega feel good on their first time. they'd stared at him for what had felt like hours before bursting into loud and raucous laughter, and when sungyeol hadn’t laughed along with them, when sungyeol had only stared back at them with his eyes unwaveringly level, they stopped. get on your knees, sungyeol, this is a student-teacher relationship now, woohyun had ordered, and sungyeol had complied almost immediately.

is this okay? sungyeol had asked so many times, just to make sure that myungsoo was feeling alright, that myungsoo was comfortable, because none of it would’ve mattered at all if myungsoo didn’t feel good. myungsoo had nodded, wordless, and he’d clutched sungyeol closer to him and said that i want you now, sungyeol-hyung. he’d stared at sungyeol like he hadn’t ever seen anyone else naked before, which he probably hadn’t, and he’d stared down at sungyeol’s length and swallowed, his throat bobbing.

it’s what makes him look over at myungsoo whenever he’s not doing anything at all, whenever myungsoo’s staring at the wall and thinking of what next to write in his paper, whenever myungsoo’s biting his lip and wondering what to eat for dinner. if he really loved myungsoo, he would tell him that he would be exponentially more beautiful if he switched out his thick framed glasses for contact lenses, if he straightened his hair from the wild curly mess that it always was.

it’s really just a fact of life that people who are more beautiful are going to be more liked, and that’s why sungyeol keeps those thoughts to himself. it’s selfish and mean, but he wants to keep myungsoo for himself, wants for myungsoo to never take off his glasses for anyone else, wants for myungsoo to never straighten his hair, so that he’ll be the only one who’s ever had myungsoo in front of him and begging for him with an almost inhuman desperation.

but he also knows that since he loves myungsoo, he should do what’s best for him. he’ll never be able to give myungsoo the kids that he loves so much, he’ll never be able to love myungsoo the way an alpha would, but more than that, more than anything else, he’s keeping myungsoo for himself. he’s keeping myungsoo for himself and selfishly away from someone who could give him the kids he wants. he’s seen myungsoo watching the kids at the playground. the moms all know him by name, know him as the younger kim boy who wants to teach elementary school some day, who loves their kids almost as much as they do.

he watches myungsoo with the kids, and he wonders to himself what kind of monster would do this to myungsoo. what kind of monster would keep myungsoo so stubbornly locked in with himself, what kind of monster would keep myungsoo from finding real happiness, what kind of monster would keep myungsoo from an alpha. they’re so cute, myungsoo rambles on and on and on, his right hand in sungyeol’s left as they walk back from the playground. he sighs, almost dreamily, i want.

sungyeol can never give myungsoo this. he can give myungsoo as many false promises as he wants to, he can give myungsoo as many cameras and origami paper stars and stuffed animals as he wants, he can give myungsoo as many nights with his hips up on sungyeol’s thighs, with his face pressed into the pillow, with his legs hooked over sungyeol’s shoulders, as he wants, but he can never give myungsoo this.

he can never give myungsoo what woohyun can give sunggyu, what howon can give sungjong, and he hates them for it, in a completely unjustifiable and mean and hateful way, but above all, he hates himself for it the most. so he tells himself that it’s for myungsoo’s own good when he goes to myungsoo’s house that night, and when he walks away, he pretends that he doesn’t see, doesn’t hear, doesn’t know that myungsoo is crying behind him. he clenches his fists, stuffs them into his pockets, and walks home, ignoring the way that the tears that fall from his own eyes are hot and uncomfortable.

it’s better this way, he tells himself until he starts to believe it. it’ll be better this way for the both of them.

Eunji quickly grabbed her phone as it rings. A message from Jisoo Oppa  . She smiled :)

She jumped happily as she read the message. She misses her boyfriend so much. She walks towards her wardrobe and starts picking clothes to wear.

"Oppa loves blue,so let's wear blue!" said Eunji with a sweet smile written on her face.

"Oppa, thank you for treating me and I am super happy today. It has been a while since we last met a month ago. It seems like you're so busy lately, so i don't dare to disturb you." Eunji hugged Jisoo's arms and waiting for him to respond.

" Eunji –ah, oppa have something important to tell you.So let sit there first." Said Jisoo. They walked towards the nearest bench and sat comfortably.

They usually come to this park on weekend and spent times together , doing things they want that they had no opportunity to  do in school. They rarely meet at school because Jisoo was not in the same department with her, he's a rookie actor. Plus, he seemed a bit busy lately with the school theater project.

"What it is? I would like to hear that." She smiled. Jisoo sighed and avoided her eyes for seconds.

He suddenly hugged her tightly. 

"Oppa wanjeonhi mianhada .Jeongmal mianhada" He started the conversation .He didn't looked into her face at all because all he felt was half guilty and half relieved. At least, he doesn't have to lie her anymore. At least...

" Wae,suddenly apologizing to me? Did you do something wrong,oppa? Wait, I know! You ate chicken and soju without me right? Isn't it true? Waaa, you're so cruel oppa."Eunji replied to Jisoo and laughed. All she was expecting was a normal joke from her boyfriend like he used to before.

But Jisoo seems not to be so happy with that. With a dark expression,he glanced at Eunji and gives her a bitter smile.

"Eunji,-ah, Let's break up." He tried his best to look at Eunji face. He felt very guilty but he had nothing to do with it. He already made the decision. He knows what he always wanted!

"Oppa , did you realized what you were saying? Don't make fun with it oppa, please. If it was a silly joke of yours, I don't buy it." Tears started streaming down from her eyes ,turning her face into red as she was really sad and mad at the same time. Jisoo did nothing but silently watched her crying. Pat her shoulder and comfort her? He doesn't have the right to do it anymore. He's just a stupid boyfriend!

After 10 minutes of silence, Eunji got her strength back and realized one thing...Why should I cry because of him? The one who cheated, the one who threw me away from his life?  You go,girl!

She took a deep breath and swept the tears over with her hand. She pretended that she was okay, while her inside was completely hurt. Hurted by the person she loved the most.

" I really mean it,Eunji. I can't stand with this kind of relationship anymore. I,,, I .. actually falling in love with someone else. I think, it's better to confess to you the truth  than cheating. We are just not meant to be together.,Eunji." She starred at Jisoo with such sardonic smile on her face. What a good man with words!

" So, who's the girl? Do I know her?" She suddenly asked.

"My junior ,taking the same course with me." He replied with a lower voice which made Eunji chuckled.

"Oh, I see. So, that's mean that all rumors that have been brought up about you and Hyunjoo are all true?" Jisoo didn't replied, admitting all the truth that he's been hiding for almost six months.

" Okay then, Let's not meet again." She got up from the chair and about to leave...leaving Jisoo with mixed feelings.

After taking a few steps away, she turned back.

" Oppa, When I said 'let's not meet again'  I do mean it forever."

A year has passed,

"Eunji hurry up ! We are late! Come on." Someone yelled outside Eunji's house.

" Wait for me Bomi. I need to tie up my shoelaces. " Eunji yelled back as a response.

Bomi is one of her best friends ever since they were 7 years old. They both are a part of a group called A-pink which was so famous

"Make it faster Eunji. 16 minutes left before they close the gate. I don't want to get into trouble this time,I swear!."

" Okay done. Let's go ! Eomma, I got to go now. Bye." Eunji grabbed her school bag and kiss her mother's cheeks.

They ran as quick as they could to reach at their school before the prefects closed the gate or else they'll get punished by their super weird discipline teacher, Mr Im Wohee.

"What a relief ,Eunji ! We almost get caught by Mr Im this morning. Hyaa, this is your fault. How come you woke up late? What did you do last night? You better tell me right now!"

"hmm, I...i just.. err. i... ju..just..." Eunji voice suddenly turned stutter.

" I...I What?? Please talk clearly because i can't understand your words,weirdo." Bomi showed her fed up face.

" Well, it's just under controlled. I slept at 4 am, watching Super Junior's new show. Wow, they were seriously JJang!! I couldn't get my eyes off from Donghae's new hairstyle. I'm so in love!" Eunji showed her thumbs up to Bomi who was about to explode.

"Waa, You're seriously..Come here," Bomi started grabbing Eunji's hair but she kept refusing and tried to run away. Lol,she was still laughing anyway...

"Hyaaa, what are you both doing? Seriously a wrestling show ? Waa, that must be very pain Eunji, isn't it?" Sungyeol and Minseok approached them and tried to loosen the little fight that had just began.

"Oh, look! Isn't that Jisoo? What the heck he is doing here? " asked Minseok. They looked at the spot that just mentioned by Minseok. Bomi's hands automatically stopped pulling Eunji's hair and let her go.

Obviously, it seemed that Jisoo was looking for something or someone in Music department.

"i don't know and don't even want to know.. Maybe he has something to do here. Whatever, I'm hungry. Let's go to the cafe." Bomi tried to cut the conversation as she spotted Eunji's somber face.She knew that Eunji must not really happy with the topic. It's because she had gone through a lot, trying to erase things between her and Jisoo. Dealing with the past isn't a good idea ,sometimes..

"Okay." They said simultaneously and left to the school cafe.

[Physical Education Class]

"Okay, it's wrap for today. Please take care of your health and eat well but make sure , don't take junk foods and beverages such as Soju or beer even a single glass. They'll make your body weak .Arasso?" Asked Mr Jongkook, the most hottest teacher after Ms G.Na.

"Ye,seonsaeng-nim." The gym was filled with their spirited voice.

"Okay, Good job everyone. You can dismiss now." ordered Mr Jongkook.

"Hey guys. I'm thinking about going to karaoke, anybody wants to follow?" Asked Eunji to her friends.

"Why so sudden?" Bomi answered her question with a question.

"Well, I feel a lil bit stressed out with tons of homeworks we've  got today. So, why not ?" She explained and convinced them to join.

"I'm so sorry,Eunji. Actually, Sungyeol and I have a date tonight. We had planned this since last month, so it's not just an excuse. So, I'm not really sure if I can go for accompany.Sorry. Let's meet tomorrow. Bye" Bomi pulled Sungyeol's shirt sleeves and left Eunji with Minseok.Eunji sighed.

"What about you?" asked Eunji to Minseok.

" It's a great idea but sorry. I need to meet someone at 3 p.m.  I got to go now. Hwaiting !" said Minseok before he left.

[FAN ACCOUNT] 170304 INFINITE Fan Gathering III

******* WARNING: Super long post ahead! Like super duper extra long post this time! We apologize ahead of time!

Hi everyone! We know it’s been such a long time since we’ve posted anything besides asks, so we first want to thank you all for your patience and understanding! We’re not too sure why, but life has been kicking both of our butts simultaneously for quite some time now. Also, sorry it’s taken so long for me to do this. I’ve been hit hard with post-concert depression and I’m still quite busy. I also needed some time to collect all of the memories that have been slowly coming back to me. Good news is that our boys had a fan meet and I (dayounggie) was lucky enough to nab a ticket for the Saturday one. Unfortunately, since I work late hours, I was unable to even attempt to get tix for the Friday meeting, but luckily and LOTS of stress later, I managed to get a ticket for Saturday. I was really bummed out to miss out on L-soonie and the ladder game to pick the next member for the v app show, but the Saturday rally had its own perks!

My Saturday started at 5am when I woke up to wait in line for goods... by myself. I really wished that ohmangotango was here to wait out in the cold with me, but I guess I don’t really wish that upon anyone. Either way, I thought I went there thoroughly prepared with all the essentials but I was still freezing my butt off. Finally, it was time to get goods... but of course, life just likes to dump on me and the one item that I really wanted and braved hours of cold for sold out... literally by the person in front of me. I was going to cry. But at least I knew the boys and their love would be worth it. I was only worried about other fans in standing. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, the only ticket I could find was in Standing C. I was quite worried about having to stand and deal with the inevitable pushing in standing... esp since it’s a fanmeet and there would be lots of movement.

So after a well deserved nap at home, I went back out to the venue. When we finally got in, the screen played mvs as always but also told us to send in a selca for a surprise. It’s not really a surprise cause they did it at the last rally too. But if you send in a selca, during the last song, they choose a few to go up on the screens in the bg. Fast forward to the end, they didn’t choose my pic ㅠㅠ Even though I didn’t have the best number, I got a really good place by standing behind this guard who was letting people in. So, I was along the back rail where it’s a little raised and I had something to lean on. In general, I had a fantastic time. My section was super chill and not stuffed-packed, so there wasn’t a need to push or sway. Everyone just kinda kept to themselves and were very nice and polite and talked to each other and stuff. The girls standing in front of me staggered so I could see between their heads and had a great view 99% of the time. I know I say this often, but Inspirit is the best. They really have no bad intentions. I think if there is any pushing, it’s cause there’s no room and you can’t help but sway with the crowd, or because they’re younger fans who are still a bit rude. Either way, it was the easiest standing experience I had, which was good cause it lasted 4 HOURS!! Ugh, gotta love our boys!

Finally, the fan meet started and the boys came out after a short vid recapping what they’ve been doing since the last fan meet 2 years ago. The boys came out and performed ‘Bad’ and Dongwoo performed the dance break but he didn’t do the normal dance. Instead, he went full energetic Dongwoo and started break dancing and doing all kinds of jump things off the floor and flipping all over the place lol. Excited Dongwoo is the best... but I guess he’s always excited. Then the boys went into their first ment. They introduced themselves but I don’t remember exactly what they said. I only remember Woohyun introducing himself as everyone’s heart. They also talked about Dongwoo’s dance break and he said he wanted to do something a little more special so that’s why he was all over the place. So they made him do it again. They asked for the music but Sunggyu insisted on doing it without the music so we could ‘properly take in’ his dance lol. He did it again and added a pelvic thrust while lying down as well. While they were talking about what they’ve been up to for the past 2 years, they got to Woohyun’s album and everyone started singing ‘Nod’. Hoya suddenly stopped us and told Dongwoo to do the dance break again while we sang ‘Nod’ lol. It was quite a strange sight but Dongwoo was a good sport lol. I remember Woohyun also mentioned that our singing got better and I felt so proud in that moment lol. They continued to talk about the past and talked about Minseok as well (for those who don’t know, Kim Minseok, the actor signed with Woollim/good friend to most of the members, was the MC). They talked a little about the jungle and Minseok was a really good MC. He was really involved in the ments and interacted with the crowd a lot, which made Woohyun really jealous, but we’ll get into that later.

Next they performed ‘Between Me & You’. Idk remember when, but they said the first half would be songs from the ‘Reality’ album and the second half would be songs from ‘INFINITE ONLY’ or something related to the promotions over the last 2 years. After that, they went into another ment. I think they were asked to pick a member for something but I couldn’t catch what it was for. Hearing the answers, I think it was for who’s the most different or who tries the hardest or something, and they chose Sungjong. They said it was because he always works hard on his gestures and wants to show a good side to the fans. Sungjong talked about how all the hyungs take pictures of him and upload it to their group chat but it makes him happy cause that just shows they care or something. So Sungyeol said that he’ll upload everything he’s taken of Sungjong on SNS lol. Then they talked about an episode that happened during the ‘Bad’ recording. The CEO wanted a true/false theme and that instead of the line ‘betting on you’, Sunggyu and Dongwoo recorded a bunch of different things like ‘true/false’, ‘truth or a lie’ and Dongwoo ended the recording by yelling ‘CEO nice~’ and they went into digression about how if the song concept was ‘CEO nice’ then they would’ve gotten #1 for like 30 weeks and it would’ve been popular at golf ranges and bowling alleys lol. Minseok talked about how the boys’ live perf is seriously the best and he hinted that as a music show host, he saw some groups who lip synced and stuff. Then somehow, we got Minseok to sing the chorus of ‘Typhoon’ and he was pretty good! He also mentioned that he really likes that song and throughout the fan meet he mentioned that he likes their music lol all the bromance love. Then V line started humble-bragging about how they all sound so good live as if they swallowed cds and that it sounds like the AR version. That led them to talk about how they sing with small variations so people know it’s not the AR version and one time at an end-of-the-year show, Woohyun exaggerated a note and his voice gave out and then the members teased him. He said the moral of the story was not to exaggerate. They also talked about a time it was early in the morning and Woohyun couldn’t hit a high note at rehearsal and it was embarrassing cause it was in front of other groups too lol. This led them to talk about their second world tour and how they would break up into different teams to go out and do things. They’d break into teams like Myungsoo, Sungyeol, Dongwoo together, Hoya, Sunggyu, Woohyun together and then there was a Sungjong team. Then they said that the Hoya, Sunggyu, Woohyun team went to a performance (I’m thinking this was when they went to see ‘Phantom of the Opera’ on Broadway in NYC) and they had 2 managers but the Sungjong team had 3 managers. They were pretty much teasing him for being high maintenance lol. He said that he doesn’t mind doing things with the members but since he sees them all the time, he just wanted to do his own thing. This also led them to talking in different languages. Woohyun said that Dongwoo was in charge of English and Dongwoo said he’s not that good but can say simple things like ‘What did you have for breakfast’ (or something similar). Then Woohyun, so very cutely, was like ‘Morning rice?’ lol it was adorbs. They said that Sungyeol specializes in Thai and Yeol busted some out and it was so cute. Gyu said something in Mandarin and Soo in Japanese. Jong was in charge of Korean and they said Hoya was in charge of Indonesian, and then Hoya mumbled nothingness into the mic lol. Dongwoo said something in English and Woohyun told him to ‘Sit down’ in English and when asked what he specialized in, Namu said he specialized in the fans lol. What a cutie pie. Then Minseok said something along the lines of I’ve finally grown accustomed to your cheesiness kinda thing lol. They even talked about airport fashion and I think they picked Jong as having the worst. They talked about a lot of other stuff too but I specifically remember Jong talking about how at one concert, I think a fan helped him remember it was in London, where he was standing where the the fireworks were supposed to come out but at the last minute, Yeol grabbed Jong and pulled him out of danger so he was really thankful for that. Ugh... my Yeol feels were on fire. Then they talked about how Sungjong was the hard carry for ‘Knowing Bros’ and they brought out a soccer ball. They talked about how it was so funny cause he wasn’t trying to be funny and was super serious about it. He really was trying to trap the ball with his chest but, in Woohyun’s words, kept getting hit in ‘weird places’ lol. So Woohyun said that Jong has been practicing or something and threw the ball for Jong again and Jong headed it again. That boy needs more practice I think. Then they talked about if they ever wanted to try their hand at a character or drama that another member was in. We all teased Yeol and Soo for some embarrassing moments. They moved onto talking about Gyu’s solo songs for a bit and the hard time Soo is having filming lately (because of the weather). At one point, Gyu asked Minseok to ask them a question he’s curious about. He said he had none because he knows everything lol. Then he asked the fans if they had anything and knelt down close to the edge of the stage to ask a fan. This is when I could literally see the lasers of jealousy shooting out of Woohyun’s eyes. He even said something like ‘Don’t look at our fans that way’ lol. They talked about who was looking forward to the fan meet the most. I think most chose themselves but Soo chose Woohyun and Dongwoo chose Jong. They also made Hoya do an acrostic poem for 무한대집회. It was pretty good as far as I remember but I don’t remember what he said exactly. It had something to do with not going home until the sun comes out. Then they wrapped up the ment and performed ‘Take Care of the Ending’.

After the song, the escape the room game vcr came up. The point was to win money by completing missions and the king gets to do something special at the fan meet. The first mission was getting 95 or higher on a karaoke machine within 20 minutes. They did ‘Come Back Again’ and didn’t get a high enough score so Sungjong sang ‘The Answer’ and Gyu got all mad that he was ‘ruining’ it lol. Then, with 3 mins left, Woohyun was like ‘get outta the way, I’ll get 100 points’ and sang ‘Nod’ and got 99 points so they passed the first mission. The second mission was to get a combined amount of 3000 using pedometers. But, the trick was that they would have different combos of addition and subtraction for each member to make it more difficult, like ‘head - left foot + right hand’. Because of the weird combos, the members looked extra silly. It was quite hilarious, just thinking about it makes me lol again. Yeol was extra cute and with the headband, the members said Gyu looked like So Ji Sub in ‘I’m Sorry, I Love You’ and called him Gyu Ji Sub. Sunggyu’s part was funny too and when it was Namu’s turn, Gyu was staring at him and Namu got all embarrassed and was like ‘What are you looking at?’ lol. They did really well so they went to the 3rd challenge which was eating super spicy ddukbokgi in 10 mins I think. They were making all kinds of panting sounds so I think Woohyun said that the video was getting too raunchy lol. They finished (mostly because Gyu kept feeding everything to Yeol) and so they went to the 4th mission. It was a game of charades, but each member had to act out 3 words and they had to get a total of 18 correct. This part led to some funny moments too with lots of disses from Gyu, but they ultimately failed this mission, so the money they got at the end lessened. To choose the king they all had to one shot a can of coke and not burp. Whoever doesn’t burp for the longest wins. In the end, Woohyun won after drinking like 3 cans of coke and they came back out and performed the Korean version of ‘D.N.A.’

After the song, they did another ment. I remember the fans were trying to get Minseok to dance a part of ‘D.N.A.’ and he did a little after Woohyun taught him a part, but he said he’s not a good dancer. They also talked about how the original title of the song was ‘Virus’ but that word has a bad meaning in Japan so they changed it. They also mentioned how it was originally supposed to be released in Korea but the lyrics didn’t sound as good cause of the chorus where Sunggyu sings ‘Stop. It.’ sounded kinda weird and it fit better in Japanese. Suddenly, Minseok asked if D.N.A. stood for something and they were all like, ‘...DNA...’ and he was like I know what DNA is, I just thought that it meant something cause of the periods between the letters lol. He said it could be ‘돌았나’ (a Busan accented way of saying ‘are you crazy’ that comes off kinda harsh to non-Busan people) so they were like ‘No and stop swearing, there are adolescents here’ lol. Then they talked about going to Busan and the food there and something about Gyu going there with Minseok.

Then they brought out a throne and crown with a spinning wheel to carry out missions. The member spins the wheel and has to carry out that action wherever the king tells him to go to. With the very first spin, Dongwoo ousted Woohyun as king and Woohyun was so devastated and adorable lol. He was like ‘I wasn’t even king for one minute!’ Then they carried out different missions. I don’t remember the order but I think Gyu gave some of his clothes to a fan, Dongwoo gave a fan this gold necklace and he even put it on for her and moved her hair out of the way (everyone swooned lol), Woohyun acted out a scene from ‘Goblin’ with a fan on the third floor (and he was so cute because he was talking while he was walking through the venue where we couldn’t see him and also when he left, he stopped by every single door on the third floor to peek out and wave at fans cause he’s the biggest sweetheart), Hoya took a selca with a fan, Sungyeol danced to ‘TT’ and also gave a fan his practice shorts (which the members all sniffed to make sure it wasn’t nasty lol), Myungsoo backhugged a fan, and Sungjong danced to ‘Chaser’ at 2x the speed and even picked a fan to dance with him on stage and she did a bang up job too (you go Glen Coco!).

Then they performed ‘Love of My Life’ and then showed an interview vcr. I don’t remember exactly what they said, but it was pretty much about how they feel and thanking people/fans. Then they sang ‘One Day’ and went into ments again. They talked about the ‘Typhoon’ promotions and Sungjong’s killing part (the part where he does the choking dance move) and Woohyun said that more than this part, he thought the ‘I realized’ part that Sungjong does was the killing part and he imitated it. Then fans made Sunggyu do the choking dance and at first he did it half-heartedly and Woohyun scolded him and made him do it seriously and OMG IT WAS GLORIOUS. My little heart still hasn’t recovered. Then we proceeded to make them all do it and Hoya acted like he didn’t want to but Yeol called him out and was like ‘You do it all the time in the waiting room, don’t act like you don’t wanna do it’ lol. Then at the end, we made Yeol do it and he was like ‘I’m gonna do it EXACTLY like Sungjong’ and his facial expressions were hilarious. We made Minseok do it too, he was such a good sport lol. I don’t remember if it was here or some other time, but Woohyun was like ‘He’s not even a member, why are you making him do it?’ and his jealousy was on full display imo! Then they were like there’s only one song left and everyone got super down and kept whining but Woohyun was like, even though it’s our last song, you guys are gonna chant ‘Come Back Again’ and we’re gonna pop out and you’re gonna be surprised right? So don’t be sad’ lol. They kept asking, ‘Should we do the last song now?’ and everyone was like ‘yeah..’ and so they kept talking longer and longer cause they felt bad. Then Minseok said his goodbyes and everyone chanted his name and the boys performed ‘Typhoon’.

Then we did the chant of course! It felt like forever omg my voice was dying. The lights went down and the May comeback teaser came on. Then they came out from the second floor doors and walked around the second floor area while performing ‘Nothing Better Than This’. They started doing their last ments and Sungjong was first. He ended his with his typical ‘Honey, dream of me!’ Then Dongwoo started his by saying that Gyu once said, ‘There are many Dongwoos in the world, but none of them are like you.’ Then it was Soo’s turn and there was an event prepared for his birthday. We were supposed to hold up a slogan that said ‘Happy Birthday Myungsoo’ when it was his turn during the last ment and we sang Happy Birthday to him. The boys were chanting for him to cry and he was like wth lol. They also mentioned how during rehearsal Yeol was like ‘Maybe the fans will do a bday event for you’ and Soo was like ‘Nahh, they prob won’t’ and they apologized for having no sense and not buying a cake to make a proper event. They said that they really thought he’d cry but he didn’t and they said it’s cause they don’t have the pianist noona playing heartwarming music in the bg (no band for the fan meet). He also said that it was very touching and he’ll remember it forever and there was an ‘I love you’ chant. At the end of his ment, the boys started a ‘Cry’ chant and when we stopped, this little boy that was in the second floor seats behind my section kept chanting when everyone was super quiet and it was adorable and we all laughed lol. Next was Sunggyu, he didn’t really say anything too important. Then it was Yeol’s turn and he apologized for the lack of help on their side for Soo’s event and said, ‘I’ll make sure to make Myungsoo cry later and upload it on SNS’ and they were like ‘What are you gonna do? Yell “CRY CRY” while hitting him?’ He said a few other things, then it was Hoya. Someone asked him to do the I say Ho you say Ya thing so we did that. He then said, ‘Sunggyu-hyung once said, there are many Hoyas in this world, but none like you.’ and Yeol said ‘but there’s that genius dog Hoya!’ (a dog that came out on TV for being really smart). Then he used that line again and said ‘there are lots of fans, but none like Inspirit’ and mentioned his Golden Disk speech again about how it’s hard to be their fan and how he’s always grateful. He mentioned (and later Gyu and other members kept mentioning) that they made a promise to keep on going together, so fans think they were hinting at the contract re-signing. Then as he was wrapping up, I think a fan was being escorted out by security, prob for filming with a camera, and the boys were like, please just let it go this time! And they even apologized in the fan’s stead. UGH THESE BOYS! CAN THEY GET ANYMORE PERFECT? The right answer is yes. They apparently can... Then it was Namu’s turn and there was a part where he was talking about enjoying life and not living with too much haste and a fan yelled ‘Okay/got it’ and then after every attempt at trying to be heartwarming the members and the fans kept yelling ‘okay~’ and it was so cute!

Then this led to what I’m sure you guys have all heard about... the extra songs and acapella medley that lasted an extra hour. We kept whining for more songs or at least more talking, we just didn’t want them to go yet. And the boys with their weak hearts gave into our demands. Fans also said how they don’t want the wheel next time and they held a vote and said that they won’t do it anymore lol. They just really showed that they cared about us so much and that they didn’t care whether they’d get in trouble or not or anything, the only thing they cared about was us and our time together. (BRING ON THE TEARS ㅠㅠ) At first, they said that there’s a comeback in May so not to worry, after hearing our pleas for them to stay. Then they mentioned how they only found out about the comeback through the teaser on the first day and that they were just as surprised to hear that as we were. I love how they just hang the dirty laundry out there lol. (looking at you Woollim... you better do right by our boys -_- )

They kept trying to start the last song but we were whining and Namu was like, ‘If you guys keep doing that, then we really won’t be able to say no’ and I think Yeol mentioned ‘Chaser’. They first checked to see if they had the venue booked until a certain time or if they could keep talking for longer and fortunately, the staff said that we had it for the night. They always mention how they get lots of complaints from parents and stuff for how long their concerts are (they’re always at least 3 hours, which is quite long compared to other concerts) and they were like oh wells lol. They checked to see if they had the MR and said not to tease them and upload vids of them getting the choreo wrong since it’s been a long time. Finally, staff said they didn’t have the MR and after A LOT of going back and forth with the staff about MR/AR/acapella, they finally said they had the MR for ‘Entrust’ and ‘Cover Girl’ and they were like let’s just do both, so the boys put on an impromptu performance of those songs and they were walking around and going through the second floor again and some of the boys (like Gyu and Namu for sure) made sure to stop by and say hi to their families. You guys don’t even know how happy I was. ‘Cover Girl’ is my all time fav song and ‘Entrust’ is up there too. They’re just so happy and whenever the boys perform it, they always give lots of fan service so I was ecstatic. Woohyun ended it with ‘We’re yours!’ They had so much fun with it and Dongwoo was all excited and they were kinda like whatevers, eff it, let’s just keep going lol. So they were thinking of other fun songs to sing and Namu was like ‘Man In Love’ or ‘Nothing’s Over’?’ and the staff said they only had AR and we were like ‘IT’S OKAY!’ but they didn’t want to do AR cause they said they had pride and didn’t want to lip sync (ALL THE PRIDE IN OUR BOYS YASSSSS) and so Gyu was like the fans can sing and we can do ‘Nothing’s Over’ then all of a sudden, the music for ‘Nothing’s Over’ came on and they all got into formation and started dancing. Then once we started singing the ‘Yeah~’ part and they realized that it was the MR version, they were all happily surprised and kept going. And of course, we did the ‘Die die’ fanchant!

Then! They tried to do prepare for the last song again until Dongwoo started singing ‘Together’, and we all kept singing. That started the medley of us singing with the boys for like 15 mins. This is definitely on youtube, so I’m gonna skip over it. All I have to say is that I am INSANELY proud to be a part of this fandom and OVER THE MOON grateful that I found these 7 treasures. We started the medley for fun, but towards the end you could really see how touched and emotional the boys were getting. There was a part where Dongwoo tried to do ‘Inconvenient Truth’ but he picked a strange part to start at so fans didn’t pick it up quick enough and he was like why isn’t anyone singing? Dongwoo also started the Telemonster OST they did too lol. They all chimed in with different songs and it was so cool to see/be a part of. Woohyun mentioned how it’s fun for them and us but everyone else must be like wth. And they also mentioned that the only thing that matters is us together, since that’s what a fan meeting is all about. UGH ALL THE CRIES. Then Sunggyu put a stop to the medley cause they started singing the Digimon and Pokemon theme songs and were getting too off topic lol. Then they finally performed ‘Thank You’, went around and said their goodbyes, and finally, at the end, Myungsoo started to cry. Yeol was like, ‘Someone give me your phone so I can take a pic and upload it!’ lol. Then the list of official fanclub member names came up but I was so pissed cause the security kicked everyone out before I could see my name. They literally pushed me out the door and slammed the door in my face... and then some security guard manhandled me while I was waiting on the sidewalk trying to cross the street. I think it’s cause I had my phone in my hand and he thought I was trying to wait on the sidewalk for the boys’ vans to go by but I just wanted to go home at that point. So the end of the night was -___- but then as I made my way home, they start texting one by one messages through that number that you were supposed to send your selca to. Each member said a short cute message of thanks and love you’s.

Overall, this was probably one of the best INFINITE related anything that I’ve been to... and I didn’t know if anything could beat IEA. But ugh, seriously our boys... I have no words. You could feel their love. I’m so so sorry that this was so long, but since it was a fan meet rather than a concert, there was so much more talking! Even after the few hours I put into writing this account, I still feel like I’m missing stuff or left small stuff out cause there’s too much already. Hopefully we’ll all be lucky and blessed with a DVD of the fan meet one day! If you have any questions, please feel free to leave us an ask and thank you so much for reading to the very end! Review of Top Seed

My very long-winded, gushy review of Infinite’s new album under the cut.

2. Tell Me: Not gonna lie, when I heard the preview for this song, while I enjoyed it, I was a bit hesitant. One of the things that attracted me to Infinite is the fact their music doesn’t follow after trends. They have their own unique style that works for them and that has helped them become successful.

So, when I heard the kind of EDM/Tropical house style in the preview, I was a little worried. BUT I should’ve known. Infinite has never disappointed me, and they didn’t with this song either.

It starts off almost sounding like your typical EDM song, but as soon as the verses started, I knew it was not. As this reviewer noted, while the music is extremely mellow (especially compared with some of their other title songs) their vocal techniques give the song a sense of urgency and desperation. Many people have said that Tell Me doesn’t sound like an Infinite song, and I can understand why they think that, but I disagree. One thing I’ve always appreciated and loved about Infinite is that most of their songs rely heavily on their vocal. Like, they don’t use a whole of auto tune, they sing live the majority of the time, and their songs always seem centered completely on their voices. Like the main grips of their songs, you could say, are their voices. And I think Tell Me is no different in that aspect. As soon as Sunggyu starting singing the first verse, I knew I’d love it. 

Another thing I adore about this song is how after the intro they jump RIGHT into the first verse. There’s no instrumental break. It just has this sort of forward motion movement to it.

And the chorus?? It’s so addictive. It’s a bit repetitive, yes, but for some reason it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s so catchy; the kind of song that gets stuck in your head easily and you welcome it.  

I’m in love with Dongwoo’s rap break. Like I said before, the song has a forward motion about it, yet they slow it down a lot for this break. I’m also in love with Sungjong’s voice during the verses. 

When I first listened to it, it felt a little disjointed. It just seemed like they had a TON of different elements going on, but the more I listened to it, the more everything seemed to fit together. 

Overall, I absolutely adore this song. I can understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I literally cannot stop listening to it. 

3. Synchronise: Holy crap. This song is amazing. I can understand why it had been runner up for the title track. What I absolutely love about this track is the chorus. I love the looooong drawn out/legato lines followed by the fast paced almost staccato and aggressive type lines. Again, like Tell Me, it moves forward really quickly. The slower, quieter verses provide a nice contrast with the chorus. 

4. No More: This one is as slow as the other two are fast. I absolutely adore the piano in it. Like, I want the sheet music so I can play it myself. This song has such a mellow, relaxed, yet melancholic feel to it. When I listen to it, I feel like I need to be gazing dramatically out a window as it rains. The Woohyun/Myungsoo/Sungjong vocal combo they did during the showcase is h e a v e n. Their voices compliment each other so wonderfully. I haven’t looked up the lyrics for this one yet, but it already makes me want to cry. I’m really looking forward to hearing this on music shows.

5. TGIF: Honestly....when Woohyun said this song is Dongwoo he was 110% correct. Everything about it, from the rich beat, the excited and high flung chorus, the bridge, all of it SCREAMS Dongwoo. It’s definitely a party song, and again that just fits Dongwoo’s personality. And I love it. I’ve seen a lot people calling this the Dongwoo Era, and I’m inclined to agree. He has really been shining through his dancing in Tell Me, and through his vocals and I’m beyond happy that he’s finally getting the chance to show them off. I’ve noticed that a lot of my favorite little pieces in some of their other music are the parts where he’s singing. And as much as I adore Sunggyu and his voice, I’m SO glad Dongwoo didn’t agree to having him sing in this song. I’ve been dying for a Dongwoo solo for ages and it’s fantastic. 

6. Pray. This song belongs in a movie. Seriously. Out of all the songs in the album, this one stands out the most for me in terms of uniqueness. From the little intro with strings, to the break right before the first verse. It’s just sounds so grand and epic. Also the fact that it just keeps getting bigger, and louder, and grander throughout the whole song just adds to it’s richness. I don’t understand why this song wasn’t originally released in 2011, but I’m glad we have it now. When I saw the title for it, I expected it to be something like No More; soft, quiet, reflective. But it’s the opposite. It’s bold, and extravagant and the boys pulled it off wonderfully. 

7. Why Me. Listen, I love my ballads. I adore them. Ballads are some of my favorite songs. So, when I heard the preview for this song I knew I’d love it. It did not disappoint. Every time I listen to it I want to cry. It’s so tender and gentle and lovely. It also reminded me why I’m so in love with Sunggyu’s voice. Like I said earlier, I think one of the special things about Infinite is their vocals; Sunggyu’s in particular. I’ve listened to tons of music in my time from countless different genres, but Sunggyu is one of the most expressive singers I have ever had the joy of listening to. My family often remarks that they don’t understand how I can listen to music where I don’t know what they’re saying. It’s because of Sunggyu!!! (partially). I don’t need to understand the lyrics. His voice, and the emotions he’s projecting through his vocals are enough. I think all of Infinite is really good at doing this. In this song in particular, the grief, desperation and love is tangible in their voices. I haven’t even looked up the lyrics yet. It reminds me of an OST from a drama. Why Me is quite possibly my favorite ballad they’ve ever done. It’s a toss up between this and Mom.

8. Break: Now this song is what I think of when I think of Infinite’s typical style. I started listening to Infinite because of songs like The Eye, Back, Bad, Last Romeo and their other title tracks, but it’s because of songs like this that they became my most favorite group. It’s just so happy! And bright, and fun. It’s the type of song that’s perfect for dancing. It reminds me of Entrust, Cover Girl, and It Can’t Get Better Than This. It reminds me of sunshine and light and hugs and just fun and beautiful things. I feel like it will be physically impossible for me to listen to this song on a low volume. It has to be turned up LOUD. 

9. I Hate: My first thought when I heard the preview for this song: “HOLY CRAP INFINITE DID AN ANIME OPENING.” And come to find out, this song was originally in Japanese. And I LOVE it. Jpop is what got me into kpop, so it feels like I’m going back to my roots heh. I never thought I’d hear Infinite do a rock song, but they absolutely nailed it. It’s thanks to the guitar riffs/solos, Woohyun’s and Sunggyu’s powerhouse vocals, Myungsoo/Sungjong/Sungyeol’s softer, lighter voices, and Dongwoo’s rich one. They all contrast and blend together nicely to create an intense and urgent type of song. While I almost wish this one had remained as the title track, I can understand why they changed it. It would’ve been hard to promote this type of song continuously. I just hope we get to hear at least part of it during one of their music show performances. Also I can’t help but think of young Sunggyu’s desire to be in a rock band when I listen to this song heh. I reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllly hope they do more of this style in the future. 

10. The Day that Passed: I’ve always thought Myungsoo’s voice was cute. Especially in their earlier songs. But recently, he’s improved VASTLY. His lines in One Day have literally made me cry. He now has more control over his voice, it’s smoother, and just beautiful. Which is why I’m so glad they gave him a solo. It kind of reminds me of the OST he did for Ruler; a soft, bittersweet ballad. His high notes are stunning. I really need to look up the lyrics for this one since he wrote them. I hope he tries his hand at even more song writing in the future. 

11. Confession: My son Sungjong has finally gotten the solo he has been wanting and deserves!!! And it’s absolutely perfect. I wish I could personally thank the person who composed it for him. It’s adorable, and perky, just like Sungjong himself. It almost sounds like a show tune. Like Myungsoo, his vocals have improved dramatically. His voice is so smooth and light. I particularly love the bridge. I’m incredibly proud of Sungjong. In my opinion, out of all the members, Sungjong has had the fewest chances to showcase his abilities and talents. Woohyun and Sunggyu have their solo careers, Dongwoo and Hoya their rapping and dancing, Myungsoo and Sungyeol their acting, but Sungjong always seems to get left behind, even though he is a wonderful dancer, a stunning vocalist, hilarious on variety shows, and has one of the kindest and gentlest hearts. I hope the release of this solo song is just a preview of what he’ll be doing in the future.

12. Begin Again: This song feels like a warm hug. Ever since they sang it at the fanmeeting, I haven’t been able to get enough of it. I don’t know if it’s because it was the first new song they performed as a group in over a year, or if it’s the title, or if it’s the fact that they went through so much crap last year, but whichever the case, this song feels fresh and warm. It also sounds hopeful. Like, even though they lost a member, and that they were on a long and difficult hiatus for a year and four months, they’re still here. They’re going to begin again. They’re starting fresh and they’re ready to deliver even more wonderful songs. I also feel like this song encapsulates the album as a whole.

Most of the songs on this album are different from their usual styles. They included many different genres, techniques and styles. It almost feels like they’re reorienting themselves. They can’t replace Hoya, nor can they get back the time they lost last year, but the six of them can continue to create music that is unique to them. Even if it’s slightly different, it’s still Infinite. It’s still the boys who rose from a small company; the ones who lived in a tiny dorm with other trainees, and who almost disbanded. The ones who are incredibly hardworking, talented and humble. 

Top Seed, in my opinion, is one of the best albums they have released so far. They stretched themselves, and created songs that are much different from their usual style. This album very well could’ve been terrible with so many different genres and styles. But Infinite, per usual, managed to pull it off and I’m immensely grateful to them for not disbanding, for pushing themselves, for thinking and loving us fans, and for always delivering outstanding music.

~I start humming along to love songs that I didn't like before. All of the melodramas in the world seem like my story. I try to look good when I didn't before by paying attention to my appearance. I'm acquiring the bitter taste of coffee. Time goes so fast and my heart grows impatient. I imagine you next to me and film a movie of my own~

You sat in your chair at the desk watching the door and waiting impatiently for him to walk through, to show up. It had become a habit that had started out innocently. It had all started the day you first saw him, the man who you quickly fell in love with yet was only able to love from afar. You sighed and rested your head on your hand, your gaze still zeroed in on the doorway not paying any attention to all the unfamiliar faces that walked into the room and headed to their seas. About to give up you frowned slightly and was about to turn when you caught sight of him.

Your breath stopped and you froze as your eyes followed his laughing figure as he walked into the room and sat at his desk that was off to the side of your own. Your trance was broken when you saw a hand being waved in front of your face. "What?" You asked Joonhee as she smirked at you.

"You were staring again, you're lucky I stepped in and stopped you from getting caught by him. I mean, imagine if he caught you staring at him." You stayed quiet knowing exactly what she was meaning yet not wanting to hear it out loud. "He'd probably think you were a stalker and that'd result in him avoiding you for the rest of your life...or he'd think you were mental.The results would still be the same though."

You sighed and flicked her forehead, "Okay okay. I get it."

She pouted and rubbed her head. "Yah! You don't have to be so mean!"

You laughed and patted her shoulder, "Mian."

"Hey, y/n." Your eyes widened when you heard the oh so familiar and sweet voice from behind you.

You turned around slowly and held back a gasp as your eyes connected to Myungsoo's. "Y-Yes?"

"Can I borrow your notes from yesterday's session? I'm sorry but I was absent yesterday and I heard that it wa-"

"It's okay, no need to explain." You told him while you opened your notebook to the right page and handed it to him. "Here you go."

He smiled and you could've swore that your heart stopped beating. "Thanks, I'll make sure to give it back to you before the end of the day."

"Oh, it's alright. Keep it as long as you need to." You returned his smile and watched as he turned around and started to copy the notes.

"So, wanna go to the cafe after classes end today?" Joonhee asked as you basically zombie walked with her to your next class. She seemed to have noticed your lack in attention and bumped her shoulder into yours causing you to blink quickly and look at her.

"What?"

Joonhee rolled her eyes and sighed, "You know you're so smitten it's interfering with my time."

You laughed and wrapped your arm around her shoulder, "Mianhae. I'll try to be less 'smitten'."

She smiled and pushed you away slightly, "Thank you for the effort."

You both laughed and continued to class never noticing the pair of eyes that was following the both of you, never noticing the admiration held in them.

Third Person POV:

Myungsoo watched as she walked away with her friend, that beautiful smile covering her face showing off those adorable dimples. His trance was broken though when Sungjong tapped his shoulder and looked towards where Myungsoo's  attention was. "Ah," he said as understanding dawned on him, "have you talked to her today?"

"Hm? Oh, nothing like that. I do have to give her her notebook back though."

"Oh? So what? Did you take it just so you'd have an excuse to talk to her?"

"What? No, I was absent yesterday so I asked her if I could borrow her notes."

"Hyung, isn't Sungyeol hyung in the same class though? Couldn't you have jus- Ahhh~ I see. You did that on purpose."

Myungsoo felt heat rise to his cheeks as he cleared his throat, "N-No."

Sungjong laughed and shook his head, "Hyung why don't you just ask her out already?"

"I can't just ask her out. I mean, I don't even know if she feels the same."

"Are you serious?" Sungjong asked with wide eyes and after seeing my confused expression he smirked and shook his head, "Wow. I canno believe this. I've gotta go hyung, but I'll see you later."

Myungsoo watched the younger boy get up and hurry away with confusion, leaving the elder to sit and wonder...What if he was wrong?

Your POV:

You were sitting at a table outside the campus building after your classes were finished and doing your work while enjoying the nice weather when you heard footsteps headed towards you. You ignored it, thinking they were going to go past you, so instead you kept your attention on your work and paid none to the person who was now right behind you.

"Hey," you heard suddenly making you jump and place your hand on your chest as you quickly turned around.

"Oh my gosh, Myungsoo-ah you scared me!"

He smiled and sat beside you, "Mian I didn't mean to scare you, just trying to get your attention."

"Well, you definately have that now."

You both laughed and you smiled when you thought about how at ease you were talking to him right now. Honestly, you thought you'd be so nervous you wouldn't be able to get a word out but here you were laughing with him. The man you loved.

"So, I-uh have your notes," he told you as he laid them down on the table.

"Oh thanks, were you able to get it all?"

"Yeah, thanks again for letting me borrow them."

You smiled and accepted the notebook from him, fighting back a blush when your hands touched. "An-anytime."

"Uhm, so I was wondering if you'd like to maybe go out on a date with me?"

Your eyes widened and you stared at Myungsoo with shock, "Wh-What?"

He turned his head away and you watched him as he brought a hand up and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, red tainting his cheeks. "You don't have to! It was just a -uh- a suggestion. I mean I understand if you don't want to, but I just have a lot to-"

"Yes," you said interrupting him and making him be the one with wide eyes.

"Y-yes?"

You smiled at him and nodded, "Yes. I'll go on a date with you. Can't believe you asked me that to be honest. Didn't think you ever liked me enough to even have more than a 10 minute conversation with me."

"Really? I- uh- I thought you didn't like me."

"Of course I do," you muttered as another blush rose on your cheeks, "Li-Like you that is."

Myungsoo reached over and grabbed your hand squeezing it lightly. "So, uhm, how about tomorrow?"

You laughed and nodded, "Okay yeah. Tomorrow." He smiled and turned his head away from you, suddenly feeling shy. "Oh crap, I've gotta go." You said before standing and hurriedly putting all your things into your bag.

Myungsoo stood as well and helped hand you your stuff before you put it all away. "Did you drive?"

"Huh? Oh no, I don't have a car."

"Well, I could drive you home then."

"What? Uh, actually I'm not going home yet, I've gotta go to work."

Myungsoo raised his eyebrows in surprise, "Oh I didn't know you had a job."

"Hm? Yeah, I had to get one to help pay off the expenses for my tuition."

He frowned and shrugged, "Okay then I'll take you to work."

"Wha-? No! That's okay."

"Oh well," he shrugged and took your bag from your hold, walking off with it over his shoulder.

"H-Hey! Wait a second! Myungsoo!"

~I can't escape because I'm in too deep. The letters in my book are dancing as they form your name. As if you're the main character of the movie, as if you're the moon in the sky, I keep seeing you. I draw you out every day. My heart will rest only when you come into my arms. I'll be your resting place that will never cool down. Look carefully – if you feel this, that means he's fallen for you. If someone gives you a sign like I am right now, then please notice it~

Third Person POV:

Myungsoo and y/n both sat silently in the car as it drove past all the cars and buildings towards it's destination. Y/n sat with her hands in her lap nervously twisting her fingers together  and awkwardly staring out the window, meanwhile Myungsoo sat in the driver's seat thinking up things to say that could get a conversation started. He wanted to spend the rest of the trip just talking to her, and he had unconsciously slowed down his speed so they wouldn't reach her work too soon.

Unknowingly he had come to enjoy talking to her and having y/n around him made him happier without a doubt. Myungsoo knew he had to say something and soon because he could see the road coming up to where they would soon part ways until tomorrow night.

"Y-Y/n."

"Hm?" Y/n's attention turned from the window and Myungsoo's hands suddenly started to fidget around the wheel nervously.

"Uhm, I-uh-I've enjoyed driving you and having you around so if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to take you to school and drop you off."

Y/n's eyes widened and she could've sworn her heart had stopped beating. "Y-You really don't have to do that, I mean, I don't want you wasting gas on me."

"It's fine, honestly. I really have enjoyed having you around me, be it he time was short, but I want to spend more time with you. I want to get to know you more." He then briefly turned and gave her a smile. "Please?"

Y/n knew she was stuck, there was no way she could say no to him now. "O-Okay, if you're sure it won't be too much of a burden."

"Of course not," he said relieved. He felt a weight rise off of his shoulders and silently took a chance to reach over and grab her hand.

His heart swelling even more with joy when she wrapped her own around his in return. "Thank you," she said quietly as he pulled up outside of her work's building. "Uhm, I'll see you tomorrow?"

He nodded and watched as she reached out to open her door, a sudden pain filling his chest as her hand wrapped around the handle. "Wait," he called out causing her to turn to him in question.

"Something wrong?"

"Yes, I mean no. I just- Can I do something?"

Her eyebrows drew together but nevertheless she nodded and watched silently as he reached out and cupped her cheeks, bringing her face towards his own and kissing her. He pulled back shortly after and watched with adoration and amusement as y/n kept her eyes closed with shock. Slowly her eyes fluttered open and she looked at Myungsoo with an emotion she knew all too well, love.

"Sorry," he muttered with a smile as he rubbed her cheek with his finger. "Couldn't resist."

She returned his smile with one of her own and shyly shook her head, "Don't be."

"So...I can kiss you again?" He asked, slightly teasing and slightly serious.

Y/n's eyes widened and she swat at his arm. "Don't kid around, you'll have to wait."

"Oh? So I'll be able to kiss you tomo-"

"Goodnight!" She called out as she hopped out of the car, a blush flaming red on her cheeks.

Myungsoo watched her walk into the building, a small content smile resting on his face as he thought excitedly about seeing her tomorrow. With a short laugh he pulled away and realized his hands were shaking again. Except this time, it wasn't caused by nerves but excitement. Excitement about seeing his first love tomorrow night for their first date, but hopefully not their last.
