As an adult still living in my parents' house, I struggle a lot with the notion of feeling safe and respected.
I exist here still out of a necessity. My mom had a near-death scare when I was about 21 and a choice I made in the moment saved her, so I've always felt a sense of guilt about leaving. She's afraid to not have me here, even almost a decade later.
My presence has worked in our favour over the years - as both of my parents and myself have struggled with various health challenges. But this house doesn't feel like home and I don't feel like myself when I'm here. In fact, I escape elsewhere as often as I can.
Ultimately, I think, it starts to boil down to love languages. Which sounds crazy, I know, but my entire family has different love languages than my own. They all give and receive love in ways that are completely contradictory to my own methods.
I hate to be touched, but both of my parents receive love that way. They'll guilt me into hugs I don't want, or brush their hands against me on the way past, or tap me on the arm randomly without warning. It sets off alarm bells whenever I'm in familial space and the risk of it is imminent. I rush to get ready for work in the morning, hoping that I'll be able to slip out the door before either of them get up to say goodbye to me.
My father gives love in acts of service - my lowest ranked love language. Which is so frustrating for me, someone who is particular and a little Type A who prefers things a specific way, because he doesn't do things right. He'll fold my clothes in the wrong direction or not complete all the steps of a task and then I just have to re-do it anyways. And I know he means well, but he doesn't listen when I ask him to stop.
Which is how it all boils down to this lack of feeling safe or home or respected. My very basic needs for comfort are ignored in favour of what makes them happy. My autonomy is disregarded on a daily basis. And all of it just skyrockets my anxiety to a place that feels uncomfortable and challenging to navigate.
Living like this leads to me working long hours, to blowing money on travel and adventure I can't really afford, to literally wanting to flee the country if only to have the space to exist as my base self. And they're supportive of my desire, yeah, but they still instill the guilt. They've bestowed a responsibility upon me to take care of them without acknowledging what I need to be able to do that.
I know it's not literal harm. I know they are not abusing me or causing trauma or really doing anything but being themselves and doing the best they know how. But it is so suffocating. And fascinating, really, that it circles back to something so unbelievably basic.
I wish I knew a concrete way to change any of it.
#voicing my needs and boundaries will sometimes work for like... a week#if they aren't offended by my delivery and punish me somehow#but it always goes back to the routine eventually and it's so frustrating#everything in my body is screaming at me to run constantly#and I am just counting down the days until it's possible to do so#I just need the fuck out of this province... as far away as I can get#step 1. will be 3 weeks in Europe in November#gathering every bit of information I can about potentially building a life there#and then step 2. will be applying for my visa#who knows wtf comes after that but I need out#personal#venting#it's interesting to me how hard it is to mesh with people sometimes on these super basic 'it's not real science' ideas#like i won't disown you for your zodiac sign buuuuut#I have stopped talking to a friend who i couldn't see eye to eye with about how we showed each other we cared

Help me move to Scotland to be with the one I love
Hello, my name is Colie and I'm trying to raise the money needed to be able to apply for a partner visa to go and live with my girlfriend in Scotland.
3 years ago, my life was in a hellish place. My step-dad, the greatest person I have ever known, was diagnosed with cancer and put on hospice care. He took me in when I had to leave my old life behind me; when I lost my home in New York and had no where else to turn to. He accepted my 3 elderly cats and cared for them like they were his own. Although he came into my life late, he acted as a father and a friend to me.
In August of 2021, right as my step-dad was diagnosed, I met the love of my life. I wasn't looking for love. I was searching for a writing partner and she came along. 2 weeks later, I told her I thought I might be in love with her, and to my surprise she said she felt the same way.
Steph was there for me as my step-dad grew weaker and weaker. She was the first person I told the morning when he passed away. I helped my mother care for him in his last days. I listened obsessively at the wall between our bedrooms for his last breaths. To this day, I still refuse to go into the spare bedroom where he passed away. I am traumatized, I am broken, but to Steph I am so much more. She was there for me to lean on whenever I needed her. She cheered me up with her silly puns. She made me smile and she reassured me that I was worth loving.
My life has never been easy, but the easiest thing in it has always been Steph. I knew right away that I loved her. I admired her from the first moment I met her. She stuck by my side despite my disabilities, despite my losses, despite my will to end it all.
I have severe anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Because of this, it has never been easy for me to keep down a job. Because I have never been able to hold down a job, I have been living off the good graces of others and cannot afford therapy. Only recently did I find a way to receive remote therapy and I'm working to improve myself.
I have lived a sheltered life since moving down here to Florida. I lost everything I ever knew in New York. I have seen family members only a handful of times in the past 11 years, and I haven't visited any of my friends since. I have lost touch with the people I called my friends back home, and I haven't been able to make new friends down here.
It's a different world here, and I am very fearful as a gay person in a red state. I do not tell anyone that I'm gay because I fear for my life here. Especially after the 2024 election results.
I have become a recluse who has nothing but her online friends, her mother, and her cats. The one shining light in all of my life has been Steph. We were able to meet in the summer of 2023 and I flew to Scotland to be with her. For the first time in my life, I was living and doing what I wanted to do. I was happy. I smiled every single day. I was traveling outside and seeing things I've never seen before, all with the person I loved most in the world. At the end of my trip, Steph turned to me and said "So, what do you think about living here?" and I swear to you, I've never smiled brighter.
The reason I have started this campaign is because of the financial requirements to obtain a visa to move to the UK. The financial requirement is ÂŁ29k, which is roughly $37k USD. Steph just graduated from university with a degree in screenwriting, but she has yet to find a job in her field. For the time being, she's working in childcare, which she also has a degree in, but it does not make the kind of money needed to sponsor me for a visa.
Our choices were either to make the 29k annually, or to have 31k in savings (equating roughly to 39k USD) so that I could apply for a visa stay support both of us for 2 years before I would have to apply again. Unfortunately, the income earned cannot be combined with any savings to meet the financial requirement. The requirement also does not allow me to contribute with a US income, as the person who is responsible for sponsoring me has to be the one earning the money because I won't be able to work in the UK until I have a spouse visa.
It is incredibly difficult not seeing the one you love day in and day out. My life has never been easy, as I said before, but I feel as if it has been put on pause ever since I was forced out of my home to come and live in Florida. I haven't been living, I have been surviving.
I want to live again, and I want to live with the girl I love.
Please, if you can, donate. Even if it's just a dollar, anything helps. Please help my dreams come true.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
~Colie

How do I move to Portugal with my family?
Moving to Portugal with your family is an exciting opportunity that involves careful planning and organization. Hereâs a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:
1. Choose the Right Visa: The first step is to determine the appropriate visa for your family. If you plan to work, the D7 Visa is a popular choice for non-EU citizens, particularly for those with passive income or freelancers. If youâve secured a job in Portugal, youâll need a Work Visa. Family members can apply for a Family Reunification Visa to join you.
2. Gather Essential Documents:Â Ensure you have important documents such as passports, marriage and birth certificates, financial proof, health insurance, and accommodation details ready for the visa application.
3. Find Accommodation:Â Research and secure suitable housing in cities like Lisbon, Porto, or the Algarve. Consider factors like schools, transportation, and community amenities.
4. Enrolling in Schools:Â If you have children, youâll need to enroll them in a school. Portugal offers both public and international schools.
5. Accessing Healthcare: Portugal has an excellent healthcare system. Once you obtain residency, you can access public healthcare services.
By following these steps, your familyâs relocation to Portugal can be smooth and enjoyable.

Delhi, the heart of India, is known for its culture and landmarks not only as a golden milestone but also for having thousands of immigration consultants. Considering these, the challenge of finding the best immigration consultants in Delhimight become quite overwhelming. It is an immigration story where a family's dream of migrating to Canada became a success, all thanks to the services provided by Aptech Visa, the best Canadian immigration Consultant in Delhi.
 A Family's Dream in Canada
"Meet the Sharma family. Like many Indian families, they have always dreamt of migrating to Canadaâa place that epitomizes a high quality of life, rich job prospects, and a promising future for children. However, as they waded through the often-confound visa process and met with consultants less than satisfactory, their hopes started to dwindle. That's when they found Aptech Visa.
Mr. Sharma recalls vividly the day, "After months of tension, my friend suggested Aptech Visa, saying they are the best Canada immigration consultant in Delhi. It was with some reluctance that I decided to try them. It was a life-changing decision.
From the very first consultancy meeting, Aptech Visa was different from the rest. This was a team professional yet sympathetic to the needs of its clients. Instead of going on unnecessary jargon about immigration, they kept it simple by guiding Sharma on how to get Canada PR.
âThey were very knowledgeable about the Canadian immigration process, and that impressed us the most. Each step, from documentation to submission, was clearly outlined. Unlike our previous experiences, they did not make any false promises. Instead, they gave us an actual timeline and let us know what to expect," Mrs Sharma reflected."
youtube
Why Aptech Visa is the Best Immigration Consultant in Delhi?
There are the following reasons that's why the Aptech visa considered the best Immigration consultant in Delhi Â
Â
1. Successful Experience with the Canada Immigration Process
Aptech Visa has successfully helped over 10,000 families, such as those of the Sharmas, immigrate to Canada. With more than 15 years of knowledge and experience with the Canadian immigration system, whether it is through Express Entry, PNPs, or family sponsorships, they know how to get the job done quickly.
Australia PR and Canada PR Experts: Aptech Visa is particularly famous for mastering the Canada PR process, relied on by thousands of applicants.
2. Personalized Service
Different immigration consultants treat clients like another case number, but not Aptech Visa. They go the extra mile to ensure each client's unique situation is handled with care.
âDedicated case managers, who answered our questions always, were assigned to us. It wasn't just about paperwork; they guided us through everything-right from documentation to visa interviews. We received unparalleled support." said Mrs. Sharma
3. Honest and Transparent
Probably, one major problem with immigration consultants is that they are not transparent. Aptech Visa differs from the rest as it is transparent and quite open at every step of the process.
No surprise charges: The Sharmaâs, for sure, were relieved to know that Aptech Visa was transparent in terms of pricing. There were no hidden costs, without which they could have been 'caught' for surprise charges along the way.
4. Holistic Service A lot can be said about Aptech Visa since it runs the gamut from eligibility tests up to post-landing services. Indeed, more than an immigration consultant, she is a partner with whom one can build a new life abroad.
5. Customized Counseling:
Aptech Visa did not provide general counselling to the Sharmas. They help develop a plan tailored to their qualification and objective and apply through the best immigration program for their needs.
A Dream Fulfillment: Canada PR Approved!
It had been months, but finally, the Sharmas received that coveted news- their Canada PR approved! " It was a day we will never forget when we received the approval. Aptech Visa made our dream of moving to Canada come true," says Mrs. Sharma.
The Sharmaâs are living happily in Toronto today-all thanks to the constant support from Aptech Visa. "You should go to Aptech Visa if you are looking for the best immigration consultants in Delhi for Canada. Their work is truly exceptional," says Mr. Sharma with a cheerful smile.
The whole immigration process to Canada is complex, but proper guidance makes their journey smooth and worthwhile. In the case of Sharmaâs, it was a matter of difference when they decided to choose Aptech Visa. Its successful track record, personalized services, and commitment to transparency have given it a reputation as the best Canada immigration consultant in Delhi.
If you dream of a new life in Canada, then don't let it be a chance. Let Aptech Visa's dream become your mission. Fender Bender - 2
"Alreet bonny lad?" one of them said. He was the tallest one of them. His shoulders broad, and his hair all over the place. She couldn't really make him out in the dark, but his voice and the odor of the boys had let Clementine to believe, that he was a smoker. "I'm sorry?" she asked quietly. And then there was, what seemed like, an "aha"-moment in the group, who now realized why, they hadn't seen Clementine before. She wasn't Geordie. "Oh," the boy started, "are you okay?". The question struck Clementine like lightning. She didn't really feel anything. She hadn't felt anything for a few years, so when the tall man asked, and the rest of the group were waiting for an answer, Clementine blurted a quick "I'm fine", as if it was an automatic reaction in her nervous system. "Ya need a ride or summat?" another one of them said. He had longer, curly hair, and had a wit to his movements and his voice. "Um, no," Clementine started, but didn't know how to finish, "not by strangers anyway". She tried to use her only defense mechanism, joking. Or, at least trying to. Not even a chuckle from the boys. This left Clementine uneasy, who fiddled with her backpack, now looking down, trying to find a way out of this conversation.
"You're new here, aren't ya?" one of them said, but she wasn't sure who. "Y-yeah", she stuttered, not knowing where this was leading. "And you were looking for Red Box Hotel?". "I was", Clementine answered with a questioning sound in her voice, "how'd you know?". Clementine was now looking up, seeing that it was the tallest one, who was speaking to her again. "It happens. They love to scam people, like", he chuckled to himself, "you're not the first to be stranded here". "Well, I'm glad you haven't stalked my bookings," Clementine said quickly, feeling a little relief, "and that I'm not the only one". "So," he said, "need a ride?". Clementine thought hardly. She did need a ride. A ride back home to Denmark. She didn't know what she was doing here. She had applied for a work visa, and got accepted, but this meant that she first had to find a job, and if she didn't have a job, she wouldn't even be able to afford a place to sleep.
"I do need a ride" Clementine almost whispered. "Reet, let's go then!" he said in an uplifting manner. "Where are we driving ya?" the man with the cap, who earlier had pointed Clementine out said. "Uh, yeah, I had hoped you could help me out with that", Clementine answered, now getting up from the suitcase. She still couldn't make out the men's faces, but she had gotten a better idea of how they moved and sounded. "I don't really have anywhere to stay," Clementine admitted, "you all must know some cheap place I can crash, 'till I get everything sorted". She hated asking for help, and this encounter was exactly the opposite of what she was looking forward to here, but nevertheless, she felt almost obliged to seek their help. The men looked at each other, discussing different places that had open or had an affordable price range, but nothing really seemed to come from it. Nevertheless, the group, with Clementine, continued to walk to, what Clementine assumed, was a parking lot.
"I got it!" the broad-shouldered boy said, "You can stay with us". "Us?" Clementine asked, "all of you live together, and you have room for one more?". "Nah, I mean like, us, as in me,", he spoke, and even though it was dark, Clementine could clearly make out a dorky smile in his pronunciation, "but ya need to learn some Geordie before you can step into my home, like". He chuckled, Clementine chuckled, and the rest of the group did too. It was a brief moment of airiness that Clementine had longed for, especially on a day like this. "That's really nice of you," she said, tuning the tone to seriousness, "but I can't accept that, I don't even know your name". "Sam," the boy turned on his heel with his hand out, and Clementine almost tripped in this sudden movement, "Sam Fender; problem solved, you can stay with me". Clementine gave out a breath of a chuckle before shaking his hand, and said "Clementine, Clementine Meyer; and no, that does not solve the problem". She spoke with such joy in her voice, almost as if her body was longing after a friendly conversation with anyone. She suddenly heard a collection of "C'mmans" from the rest of the group. "Do you seriously not know any other place for me to stay?" Clementine asked one last time, knowing that staying with a stranger probably wasn't her best decision. "Nah," Sam said holding his hand to his chest and the other up in the air, "I swear". "In the morning, we'll research, and find ya a nice and cheap hotel, deal?" he asked. "Alright", Clementine answered. "Alreet" Sam repeated, clearly smiling.
Soon, they all got to the parking lot, and the members of the group, who Clementine now knew as Joe, Dru and Dean, said their goodbyes, before Clementine was left alone with Sam. "Get in," Sam gestured, "it won't bite". He had clearly noticed Clementine's fidgeting and looking from side to side. She got in, acknowledging the actual stupidity of her choice. If she was getting kidnapped, she thought, at least she was aware of it. When she finally got in the front seat of the car, Sam turned to her, which made her jump a little, and he showed a sign of concern. "Ya know, if you're uncomfortable with this," he stopped, and sighed, "I divvina, maybe I can call a cab or summat, but it's really late, like, and I honestly don't even know where you should go". Clementine started tearing up, but she didn't know why. She was suddenly scared, but also ashamed, that she had made Sam, who seemingly just wanted to help her, feel this way. It was very ambivalent. "No, I-," Clementine faced the front window now, before hesitantly putting on her seat belt, "thank you, Sam". Sam looked her up and down with a concerned look on his face, before putting his own seatbelt on, and turning on the car. The whole ride to Sam's place was silent, except when Clementine had asked, if she was allowed to roll down her window, in which Sam thought she was joking.
Sam lived in a small house. It had a little garden, that, in the darkness, wasn't exactly easy to decipher. Both Sam and Clementine were still silent, until Sam unlocked the front door, and silently invited her to come in. Clementine bent down, to untie her shoes, until Sam pivoted his head to the side and furrowed his brows, before saying: "Ya don't have to take them off". "But," Clementine looked up, "they're dirty". "So is the floor" Sam admitted and gave a little side smile. "I'm gonna take them off," Clementine answered, "is that okay?". "Aye, of course, Clementine" he said, walking right past her, not bothering to take his own off. "'Reet, this is the hallway", Sam then gestured with his hand, after Clementine had put her shoes to the side, "very small, I know". Clementine smiled as an answer, and Sam returned the favor. Sam showed her the rest of the small house, recognizing that she was getting more and more comfortable along the tour. Clementine had slowly started to realize, the risk Sam had taken himself, letting in a stranger in his house. "And this is what's supposed to be a guest room" Sam said, as the two of them walked into the last room. It was completely empty. Other than a bed, there was nothing. Well, cans of empty beers on the floor, but those were everywhere; everywhere, except for what appeared to be his home studio, that was filled to the rim with guitars. He had informed her that he was a musician. "Sorry about the mess again" Sam quickly said, before collecting them, like he had done in every other room. "That's okay, Sam," Clementine answered and smiled, "this is perfect". They just smiled at each other, and that moment, was the first time, where Clementine could see Sam's face properly, and she was, almost too clearly, intrigued by it. He had messy, light brown hair, that looked like an outgrown mullet. His eyes were to the bigger side and blue, that reminded her of the sky in Denmark, during that one sunny day of the year. They were clearly tired, with bags under them, and still, they beaked of excitement and youth. Clementine felt almost ashamed of her own boring brown eyes, that had always been so much older, than her age. Over his eyes were dark brown, thicker eyebrows that gave his face a daunting structure. His nose was sharp, with a tiny bump on the bridge of it. His lips were very pink, just like his cheeks, which she assumed was from exhaustion. It was almost two in the midnight. His cheeks caved in with a few lines around his mouth in this smiling position, giving him a softness, yet his jaw was still sharp. Sam suddenly dropped one of the beer cans, and like a finger snap, they both awoke from each other's gazes. "I'll let you be now," he suddenly said, "call me if you need anything, and if you feel uncomfortable, you can always leave anytime, you'd like". And then he left and closed the door. Clementine stood there for a second, taking in, what had just happened, and then decided to open the door and poke her head out of the opening, and with a slightly raised voice, said: "Hey, Sam?". She heard quick footsteps towards the guest room. Almost, as if he was running. Sam was there within a second and with raised eyebrows, he said: "aye?". "Thank you" Clementine said. "No worries, pet" he had answered, before giving her a huge grin, and turning around. "Goodnight" Clementine said to his back. Sam turned his face to her door and gave her a small "'night".
The next morning, Clementine had never felt so well-rested before. The bed was hard as stone, but that didn't stop her. Although well-rested, she still had awoken, as if just from a nightmare, taking a minute or two, to remember where she was. And then she went to see what time it was, but her phone wasn't there. She furrowed her brows and threw the duvet to the side of the bed, to see if it was under it. But it wasn't. So, she checked under the pillow. Not there either. Clementine's palms were starting to get moist, as she slowly got off the bed, that creaked loudly. She was looking from left to right, trying to remember, where she put it. And then she remembered that she had placed it at the windowsill, so she let out a small breath, smiled and hurried to the window. But to her surprise, it wasn't there either. Her palms were getting sweaty again, and she was considering running out of the window and get help. Sam had clearly taken her phone, so she couldn't contact anyone, she thought, while picking her scalp under her long brown hair. So, when she went to check, if her bedroom door was unlocked, her mind did not leave one possibility out, expecting the worst. And then she placed her hand on the doorknob, heart beating a million miles an hour.Â

A must-see in Nassau and historic landmark isâthe Queenâs Staircase. Hewn from solidâlimestone in the 18th century, the 66-step staircase honors Queen Victoria and her crusade against slavery. Queenâs Staircase is a mix of history and naturalâbeauty. This freeâattraction is a fascinating insight into the islandâs history while giving visitors a chance to marvel at the insane craftsmanship that went into its construction. Donât forget your camera!
2. Fort Fincastle
Anotherâhistorical gem is located near the Queenâs Staircase: Fort Fincastle. This fort was built in 1793 to protect Nassau from pirates and offers stunningâviews of the island and its turquoise waters. The beautifulâship shape of its structure gives it a distinct appearance.
Anyone can wander around the outside of Fort Fincastle and seeâamazing, sweeping views of the city for free. This site is one of the most outstanding free things to do in the Bahamas, thanks to both its strategic locationâand historical significance.
3. Cable Beach
Cable Beach is probably most known for its miles of stunning white sand & crystal-clear waters. â Itâs a perfect place for sunbathing, swimming or just relaxing beneath the Bahamian sun ââand access to it is free.
Cable Beach is one of the best places toâseek peace and solitude both as a solo traveler or for family. Althoughâthere are some activities on Blue Lagoon Island that you'll pay for, wandering its shores is entirely complimentary. The sleepy island isâideal for a leisurely day and great views. Youâreach it by a quick boat ride, and itâs a refuge for nature lovers.
Go for a stroll along the shore, feelingâthe crisp, ocean air. Blue Lagoon Island is a little tropical paradise that embodies all things Bahamas â easily one of top Bahamas tourist places.
5. John Watlingâs Distillery

6. Aquaventure WaterparkÂ
Although the Aquaventure Waterpark at Atlantis Paradise Island comes with an entry fee, you can accessâsome areas of the resort free of charge. Stroll around the marina and appreciate theâgorgeous architecture, or gaze through the open viewing area at the marine life.
Despite having its ownâwow factor with opulence and swanky atmosphere, the Atlantis resort is a sight to admire. You can admire the waterpark's thrilling slides and beautiful surroundings from afar too without spending aâdime.
It was so simpleâto apply for the Bahamas visa online. The second thing Iâdid was to get my travel authorization, which I can do right from my home. Whether you are planning a relaxed beach vacation or the full bus tour ofâthe local culture the visa online is your way to the quick and easy experience. Heavily recommended for anyone who is looking for a simpler way toâorganize travel documents.

i'm going to brag a little
because i'm finding more and more that i'm a pretty fucking resilient person. and i can pull myself out of my anger.
and that's worth bragging about.
also, here's the thing about life....it goes on. i'm not going to pretend that i made up that saying - it's a VERY famous saying by robert frost.
how it's relevant to me is that....i have now experienced twice (2 months the first time and 1 month this time) how it feels to have yasir fuck off and leave esa and i alone.
and frankly it's not even just those 2 incidents.
there are soooo many incidents where i've experienced yasir explaining in plain daylight the truth about how much he truly values me originally and now both esa and i.
the first situation was when we weren't even married yet. it was before we got married and i asked him to apply for a student visa which he did, and it got rejected. the day he found that out, he blocked me for the whole day and when he was still angry with me he said "you're the reason i will never be able to come to canada!".
that was my number 1 clear-as-day sign that i should not have been with a man who's main purpose was to come to canada with me. he never really even liked me, i'm almost sure of it at this point. i think he's a very intelligent man. he knew he had to get married and he knew he wanted to come abroad. so he liked me and i was...a canadian passport to him.
i won't discredit the times i did feel loved by him by saying that's ALL i ever was to him. but it was a MAJOR part of it. and i can't even deny it because even if he was head over heels for me - it still would have been a major factor for him.
in any case, that was the first step. then came the living together mini angers and hurts. all the times he made excuses and nakhray and refused to come with my to my family's things or my friends' things or my family friends' things. he never really cared for me enough to actually participate in my life with me. i remember the fights we used to have where i used to say "okay fine, if you won't come to my stuff, i won't come to yours!" to which he would respond "okay don't".
or the excuses of "well my stuff is my actual family and siblings, your stuff is just your friends" and other crap.
then came the living with his sister crap. because he couldn't handle living at my parents' place so we moved to his sisters' place. in his case i will say though that my parents live in a very rural area and he came to canada in the dead of winter and of course he ended up wanting to be with his sister where she lived in the subarb but with transit etc.
after living there with his sister for a few months, then came the transition to trying to find a home for ourselves. he had by then gotten a job (night shift) and decided that just because he worked all night that all day long he would do nothing else except sleep. so when we were collectively told that we need to head out and find out own accommodations because my SiL had her own in laws coming to visit with them, i was the only one who ever did any house hunting. and when i found a place, of course he refused to even see it or come with me to the majority of the showings. and the ones that he did come with me to he was completely 100% critical about without having put in any single morsel of effort in securing the showings in the first place.
in any case, i found the place and we moved. then of course came the silisilay of eids. he refused to compromise that eid would be done together and split between my family and his and this continues to this day. i mean at this point where i'm sitting today, i am of course almost certain that i will no longer be attending eid at his family's at all. but at that time, newly married i was unwilling to disrespect him and by extension his family but even then he had no problem not showing up for me or my family.
he had no problem and he wouldn't blink twice about it.
so then of course i started looking for a place to move to - a home. that was a goal of mine...of ours, i thought, to have a house to call our own and move off renting.
but again, he was not interested, never showed any commitment and then never actually participated in house hunting. when i got the place i wanted and put in an offer, all the while yasir was quietly and completely uninvolved -- though NEVER for a lack of my trying.
and then he got pissed. when the offer went through, when it was all accepted, he got angry with me and ran away to his sisters' place.
we had to have a mediated discussion with both sides of the family until finally he decided he would live with this decision that i've made all by myself without any input from him - WHICH AGAIN, WAS NOT BECAUSE OF LACK OF ME ASKING OR BEGGING HIM TO BE INVOLVED.
but such is life, he gaslit me into believing it was my fault and i might have even believed it.
time moved on, i became pregnant. we had our kid and i stayed with my parents for a little while. he would come on the weekends. but i remember crying and begging and yelling and screaming over the phone for him to come during the week. i remember being desperate. but he wouldn't come.
he would only come on the weekends.
he still remembers that time during the thick of covid living alone as one of the best stretch of times of his life. he would stay up late playing video games with his nephew in pakistan. he would sleep in late. he would go out and do uber eats which at the time was suuuper in demand (because covid, you know) and then come home and again repeat the video games.
and he wouldn't come. even though i begged and cried. even though it was my car sitting in my driveway back at my house but he would refuse to come except on the weekends.
what was his reasoning? "it doesn't make sense". he was earning a fair bit with uber eats and he was having the time of his life with his nephew staying up all night playing video games. why would he come to his brand new child and post partum wife? why would he understand or try to understand or pretend to understand.
then of course the same shit continued - as long as we had one car, every time he needed to go somewhere or be somewhere, he would get the car because of course why not? why would i with my kid need the car ever? why would my need ever trump his?
when his family visited his sister in richmond hill, i remember he left esa and i for a week alone at home without a car. while i was working and esa was at daycare. that week i ran out of diapers and i didn't have a car. and it was winter months.
but he didn't have a care in the world. just because i said "okay, no problem, it's your family" he was okay. he didn't miss his kid. he didn't pretend to feel bad about leaving us. nothing. he showed me exactly where he would spend his time and his effort and it was not with us.
finally i pushed him and pushed him as our circumstances changed and his income increased to go buy a car for himself. buy his first ever car in his whole life (he rode a motorcycle in pakistan). i had to drag him fighting tooth and nail because he still refused to see the need for a second vehicle when he would easily up and leave esa and i in our only car.
down to the literal day that we went to pick up his car after he'd placed the order, as we were turning in to the dealership he turned to me and said "you know, i'm really only doing this because you said so - we don't need a car".
which of course made me angry and i let out some of my anger. but i got past it because i was so happy in his happiness for having purchased a car. because of course, he was happy about it. of course he was.
and despite that i was still happy afterwards, i was gaslit into believing that i ruined a perfectly good moment and milestone in his life with my anger.
lol
time moved on and now his obsession became his car. even the tiniest scratch or anything on that stupid piece of metal angered him. even if it was a spill that our TODDLER SON did, he would be angry. and then he would become angry that i wasn't hurt by it. he would accuse me - he still does to this day - that i was ruining his car on purpose. that the spills and stuff that happen in his car make me happy because i am a spiteful person.
l o l o l o l o l o l
i forgot to mention, prior to the second car fiasco, i had just purchased a brand new car. and within less than a year of driving it, yasir got into a collision in it and it was totalled.
i never once blamed him. i never once let my anger out towards him. and i guess that was largely in part because i wasn't angry. when my mom told me about the accident (it happened this way because yasir had to call her since i was in the shower at the time), i was just scared. was yasir okay? was he hurt? did he sustain any injuries?
of course, i felt sadness that my own first ever car purchase of my life had to end this way, but i never felt anger. because...I don't know i'm an adult. or a rational human being. shit happens....
anyway, so that's about where we are now. and the latest along with the tiny little things and the small things is that he's sort of made an annual trip to pakistan a tradiiton. he left from december 2023, returning end of january 2024. then he left all of december 2024 again to pakistan to visit his family.
and as soon as he returned, his other family came visiting from the states so he's basically been away for the past couple of weeks with them. this was the first time that i have not met with any of his family when they come visit, save for when i went to pick him up at the airport.
i mean, i blame them 100% because they have no problem condoning his behaviours and certainly i've seen and heard them encourage it. but ultimately, what relationship can i sustain with yasir's family if my relationship with yasir himself is so deeply wounded and broken?
none.
ALL OF THIS to say that....while i was living through each one of these events and the HUNDREDS more i haven't even mentioned here....it felt like the world was ending. when he first came to canada and refused to go places with me at the very last minute, i used to get so anxious and stressed and like "what would i say to them", "what excuse can i make?", "how can he not understand how rude this is". but eventually i got over it. and despite that everyone still asks "where is he?", "why didn't he come?", questions....i'm over that too.
things that used to feel like the end of the world are now commonplace.
and while i'm SEVERELY disappointed in myself that it took me this long to accept (going into our 8th year of marriage), i can at least say that i've lived through it all.
and frankly, i think the thing that's giving me strength to get through the most devestating part of it all is esa.
what is the most devestating part of it all? seeing esa go through the motions of having to understand and come to terms with that esa is not his father's top priority under basically ANY circumstance. and yet, esa keeps going. he keeps being happy, he keeps moving forwards, he keeps living. and you might say (and i would agree) that it's because he might not truly understand it yet at the ripe young age of 4 years old. but on a deeper level, i think he understands better than even me sometimes what he's experiencing. what's taken him much less than his 4 years of life to understand has taken me approximately 8 whole years.
so that's the source of my strength. i am determined to be happy with my son. with my amazing, kind, fucking intelligent beyond his years, considerate, respectful son.
my son who i hope to instill the appropriate priorities and investment of his time in. my son who i hope genuinely looks at his father to understand that that is the experience that should NOT be imparted from a father to his son or a husband to his wife.
my son who maybe will have to suffer the worst of the hurt between his parents but who....must live on. because nothing lasts forever.
but for my son's sake...i must be happy with me and my life. and for my son's sake i am trying.
so here's to new years, new beginnings, resolving to be a certain way and then just....being.
much love,
k

What is a Singapore Business Visa?
A Singapore Business Visa allows foreign nationals to visit Singapore for business purposes such as attending meetings, conferences, or negotiating contracts. It typically falls under the category of the Singapore Entry Visa and is issued for a short duration.

You should have a clear business purpose for your visit.

No criminal record or history of immigration violations.
Step 2: Gather the Required Documents
The following documents are typically required for a Singapore Business Visa:
Completed Visa Application Form (Form 14A): Download and fill out the form accurately.

After submission, the authorized agent will provide a tracking ID. You can use this ID to monitor the status of your application. The processing time is usually 3-5 working days but can vary during peak seasons or for special cases.
Step 6: Receive Your Visa

Some countries have visa-on-arrival policies, while others require you to apply for a visa before traveling.
2. Understanding the Requirements
Every country has different visa requirements, including documents such as:
Passport (valid for at least six months)
Completed visa application form
Passport-sized photographs
Travel itinerary (flight bookings, accommodation details)
Proof of funds (bank statements, income proof)
Travel insurance (for some countries)
Invitation letter (if visiting family or friends)
Our role as your Tourist VISA consultant in Amritsar is to help you gather and organize these documents in compliance with the specific requirements of your destination country.
3. Filling Out the Application Form
Once you have gathered all the necessary documents, youâll need to fill out the visa application form. The form must be completed accurately, as even a small mistake can delay your application or result in rejection. A Tourist VISA consultant in Amritsar can help ensure that all the details are filled in correctly.
4. Submitting Your Application
After completing the application form and gathering the supporting documents, the next step is to submit your application to the appropriate embassy or consulate. In some cases, you may need to attend an interview, provide biometric data, or undergo additional checks.
5. Waiting for the Decision
Once you have submitted your application, all you need to do is wait for the embassy or consulate to process your visa. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the country and type of visa.
6. Receiving Your Tourist VISA
If your application is successful, you will receive your tourist visa, allowing you to travel to your desired destination. Your Tourist VISA consultant in Amritsar will notify you as soon as your visa is ready and assist you with any final steps before your journey.
Common Challenges in Tourist VISA Applications

Incomplete Documentation: Missing documents or incomplete forms are a common reason for visa rejection. Working with a Tourist VISA consultant in Amritsar ensures that all necessary paperwork is submitted correctly.
Insufficient Funds: Some countries require proof of sufficient funds to cover your travel expenses. If you fail to provide adequate evidence, your application may be denied.
Travel History: In some cases, your travel history can influence the visa decision. If you have previously overstayed a visa in another country, it could affect your chances of approval.
Embassy Delays: Sometimes, the embassy or consulate may take longer than expected to process applications due to high demand or other administrative issues.
