soulmates!
soulmate!au because im weak. you're weak too.
characters: bennett, zhongli, diluc ➡ mentions: barbara, lisa, guizhong, hu tao, kaeya, crepus warning(s): bennett luck (he gets hurt a lot), wrote this at 2:48am so my writing may or may not make sense
bennett: feels the same emotions from the other, but the emotions have to be strong and genuine
he never understood your sudden bursts of sadness. it would come at the most inconvenient at times.
for as long as he could remember, the emotions that weren't his are mostly sad. he asked his dads about it and gently told him his soulmate system is feeling emotions from the other.
after crying from an unknown pain, he made it his soul purpose to constantly be happy all the time, no matter how unlucky he could be so you can be happy too.
his dads worry when he falls down and scrapes his knee, but he would always reply with, "i'm not hurt! my soulmate is hurt!"
he would then clutch the fabric on his chest tightly, like he's been stabbed with a sword and say, "my soulmate hurts right here."
he heaves a breath, "it doesn't compare to whatever luck i get."
"this pain is bearable," he convinces himself when he comes out a hilichurl camp in cuts and bruises.
"your soulmate needs you to be happy for them," he chastises himself for shedding a tear when another adventurer wronged him.
he visits barbara to heal his wounds and asks how she always looks so... happy, so smiley.
"all it takes is one smile to make yourself happy. it can be a slow process but it works!" she singsongs, "miss lisa showed me a study about it."
ever since barbara explained, he smiles the brightest of smiles in mondstadt. he refuses to let other adventurers let him down, worried he might hurt you more than it is.
soon, he finds out that he feels no sadness coming from you. he feels no weight on his shoulders. he feels happy after Good hunter ran out of food for him.
these are not my emotions, he thinks, a wide grin creeping it's way to his face.
he lets out the loudest laugh, giggles, and various joyous noises. he's never felt so happy in his life. for once, he feels lucky, because for once, you're finally happy in the other end of his invisible red string of fate.
his luck skyrockets when he sees a person around his age, with a gorgeous smile adorning their features. he knows its you, sitting by the fountain making wishes. he knows it's you when he sees your eyes that hold so much emotion.
it was as if his heart was tugging him to where you sat.
he's never felt so lucky to have you as his soulmate.
"thank you giving the best smiles"
zhongli: every time he passes his soulmate, he hears the sounds of bells ringing
now, zhongli never thought he would have a soulmate because of his past title of 'archon.' soulmate systems are a tricky thing. he knows there are so many ways to know your soulmate system.
the common system was their first words tattooed on themselves. many others had the ability to know when they meet them, in other words, a count down.
but zhongli never had those two, nor did he have faith in the soulmate system until the lantern rite festival.
walking by the busy streets, he muses to himself how pretty liyue is under the blanket of the moon and stars. he hears the merchants call to customers, attracting and waving at them to buy their products. he hears the clink of the mora in their bag is loud; the laughter from the children young and old marry a soft smile to his face.
he freezes, hearing something that should not belong in the lantern rite. the sound of bells ringing. it isn't any cow bell, or school bell. it's the sound of echoing, melodious wedding bells ringing his ear.
he vaguely remembers his friend guizhong mentioning about this rare particular soulmate system when she still roamed teyvat.
a soulmate!
zhongli stands straighter, eyes grazing on the sea of people, trying to see if anyone stopped to hear the bells he heard. he mutters a few apologies when people bump into him with lanterns in their hands, but that doesn't matter to him.
fate brought someone for him to love. it's just that... he doesn't know where.
he walks forward, he walks backwards to where he came from. he walks to the docks then to the top of liyue harbour, but he can't hear the sound of the bells again.
he doesn't panic. he doesn't rush, because he knows fate will bring you back together. he just doesn't know how long until he'll hear the bells again.
it came to him a surprise when he hears the bells everyday after that.
everyday when he sits at third-round knockout he hears the sound of bells behind him, but when he turns, he knows you've left already.
he sighs, blowing on his tea before taking light sips. it seems he won't be meeting you today.
one day, the ringing just stops. there's no sign of you, or your presence. zhongli assumes you're just taking a sick day, or you've decided to rest, but after a week of not hearing the bells, he worries.
archons, how he wanted to look for you, but he doesn't even know who you are. hu tao encourages zhongli to take the day off and look for you, so he did.
walking aimlessly in liyue, doubt crosses his mind. what if you were here for a business trip and left? it wasnt until he passes by a stunning figure he hears the bells again. he stiffens and turns to you when you stopped next to him.
"thank goodness," he says, slightly covering his smile with a gloved hand.
your eyes sparkle as you look at him, "thank goodness indeed."
diluc: lost possesions will come to your soulmate
for as long diluc knows, strange things always end up in his possessions: hairclips, pens, coins, and archons forbid- his soulmate's overdue bills.
his father laughs when younger diluc comes home dragging a wagon and the biggest teddy bear in history, because how on teyvat does someone lose a teddy bear taller than a door. crepus watches his son struggling to drag the big toy home and sees his other son pushing the wagon from behind, also struggling.
"what do you have there?"
all the response he gets are grunts. the side of his eyes crinkle with mirth, seeing his two sons having trouble bringing it home.
"father!" diluc calls out with a grin missing two of his front teeth, "i don't know where it came from. it's like it appeared from the sky."
"it actually did fall out of the sky!" kaeya says, "we were at the vineyard and i saw diluc get crushed!"
"i did not get crushed."
"did too," kaeya retaliates, sticking his tongue out.
that was the first time diluc heard of this certain soulmate system. lost things from his soulmate go to his possession; lost things from diluc go to his soulmate's possession.
crepus glances at his boys and gets an idea. he calls for them to follow him, and they do, obediently. he leads them to his room, pulling out a treasure chest full of frilly clothes, dresses, outfits that range from a farmer's outfit to a noblewoman.
"this chest is where your mother kept her favourite things," crepus pulls out a necklace from the bottom of the case. "this necklace was particularly her favourite."
diluc can see why. he's mesmerized by the ruby sparkle it hangs. the gold chain complimenting the red jewel and making it complete.
crepus clutches the necklace, looking at it longingly before placing it back in the chest. he places out all the old clothes from the container and lays it on his bed.
"you can keep your soulmate's things here like i once did. your pops is getting too old anyway, i-"
kaeya interrupts crepus jumps on the clothes that are on the bed, creating a havoc in the room. he jumps on the bed with so much energy even after diluc tells him about the story of the 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed.
though, crepus is having none of that. he picks up diluc by his small arms and flings him to kaeya, looking like a bowling ball knocking down a pin. the two boys gasp for air, shooting dirty looks at their father before they chase him out of the house.
the corner of diluc's mouth twitch up ever so slightly, remembering when he first knew of his soulmate. it would take a very observant person to notice his smile. he polishes the glass behind angel's share's counter. under the filtered sunlight, the glass glints. satisfied with the cleanliness.
the chest his father game him was fill of trinkets his soulmate had lost over the years, and good grief. his soulmate must be the most disorganized person ever. he remembers walking to dawn winery and a sack of mora drop on his feet. it wasn't a pleasant feeling, but the thing that has diluc worried is how his soulmate tends to lose the biggest things like a 7-foot-tall teddy bear.
diluc is about to place the wine glass on a cupboard until SMACK.
a thick paper hits his face from seemingly nowhere and so he knows that is his soulmate losing the tenth thing for the day. he has a room dedicated for the things his soulmate has lost, and he thinks he might need a second room.
he pulls the paper off his face and his eyes widen in shock. this two-inch thick paper are legal documents. loan agreements. overdue loan agreements.
[Name] [Last Name]
he notes the name in his head. [Name] owes the fatui 35 thousand mora as interest. what kind of reckless person- then it hits his mind. that sack of mora that fell from the sky was that 35 thousand to pay off the loans.
he knows where to go. he leaves the wineglass on the counter for charles to pick up and hastily grabs his coat and leaves the door.
"liyue, liyue, liyue, and the fatui." he chants in his head. loans. he greets his maid before ascending to his room. he snatches the mora that dropped on his feet and sprints out the door to retrieve his stallion.
a few hours at most to make it to where his fated partner was at, and so he sets off.
arriving at liyue is strange, seeing diluc's attire did not match the city, and seeing his hands are holding the reins of his horse tightly. a strange traveler from a foreign land... with a majestic stallion. he looks like a prince straight out of a fairytale.
he lightly pats his horse, urging to go a bit faster from the trotting they were doing until he meets the gaze of a distressed person in front of the fatui.
"i swear! i had the money and the papers just today!"
diluc scoffs, knowing who they were now, and they did not have the money today. they lost it a week ago.
"listen," the masked fatui grumbles. "im just here to do my job. if i don't have the money in my hands right now i'll-"
diluc jumps off the saddle and unloads the sack of mora from the side, dropping it on the fatui's hand with a seething glare, yet still polite.
"i believe they owe you 35 thousand? sounds about right, no?" he says, letting his diplomatic side show a bit. "for the sake of it, why not amuse me and take this, david. hmm?"
the fatui goes rigid, hearing his name. he slowly lifts his eyes up, "master diluc." he curtly nods and skittishly walks away. one time david spilled drinks at a mondstadt political gathering. he spilled it on diluc.
the ragnvindr waits for the fatui to walk away before turning to his, supposedly love of his life.
"you're the one who lost a 7-foot-tall teddy bear when i was six," he points out, waiting for your response.
his soulmate sheepishly smiles, "well- i would have a good defense but hey, did you at least enjoy having a 7-feet-tall teddy bear fall on you?"
"i did, along with a glass mug falling on me as well."
"i just cant believe how you never lose your stuff!" they retort, "the only thing i got was a missing tooth from you."
the tip of diluc's ears turn the same colour as his hair, but still wears a stoic expression. "i'm diluc ragnvindr," he greets, slightly bowing his head.
"and i'm yours"

Heya, it been awhile XD
As always, I've been enjoying your fluffy snippets, but if you're up for some angst...
Ruby is a newly graduated Huntress following up on a child trafficking ring in Mistral m, which ends up taking her to Atlas. There she stays at 'The Glass Unicorn' and meets a maid called 'Cinder'. A woman who has long given up on her freedom and what it means to be a Huntress...
Otherwise, if you're still enjoying the fluffy side of things, some fluffy BeesSchnees is always good XD
Ruby sighed as she looked between a paper in her hand and to the hotel standing in front of her. For a moment, she was a bit confused on what The Glass Unicorn had to do with any sort of child trafficking ring. However, the name of the woman who owned this place came up more than once on the ledgers of that old barn. And if she wanted answers, she was going to need to start her.
Rain started to pour from the sky as Ruby walked into the hotel, pausing for a moment as she felt out of place. Sure, there were hunters and huntresses from all over, but even for Atlas standards, this place was higher end. Everywhere she looked, all she saw was an excuse for wealth to be displayed. Once she regained her composure, she walked up to the front desk. “I need a room.”
The blonde woman looked Ruby over for a moment before noticing it was a huntress in front of her. With a few quick clicks on her keyboard, a card popped out of her computer. Room 402. Meals will be brought straight to your room. And dont bother talking to the staff.”
Ruby looked at her curiously as she took the card. “Why not?”
The woman looked directly into Ruby’s eyes. “Its not their job to talk to anyone.”
Ruby sighed and put the card in her pocket, turning to start heading up the stairs. She looked around as she walked, all the patrons seeming to enjoy everything the hotel offered. It all reminded her of why she was doing this: to try to make the world a better place. And right now, Atlas was not that better place.
Ruby watched a few of the staff bring out meals to the patrons, along with anything else they needed or cleaned up any messes that were made. The longer she watched, the less convinced she became that this hotel was going to be the link to this ring. Everything she found always became a dead end and this last lead of hers seemed to be no different.
“What do you think you’re doing?!”
Ruby looked up at the third floor, watching one of the patrons yelling at one of the maids. She tried to get a better look, making her way to the stairs on the opposite side as she watched the maid drop to the ground to pick up the food that fell on the ground.
“I’m sorry, I didnt mean to-”
“Didnt mean to what? Give lousy service?” The patron spat at the maid, pushing past her and knocking her over. “Lousy maid bringing over half cooked food…”
Ruby watched the maid move her hair out of her face as she started to scrub, hearing a small sigh escape from the girl. She felt sorry for the girl, walking over to her. “Ah… miss… I was hoping I could ask you something.”
The maid didnt look up, seemingly avoiding eye contact with Ruby. “I-I’ll make sure your room is cleaned once I’m finished here.”
Ruby knelt down and picked up some of the fruit that had spilled. “That’s not what I was going to ask about. I was hoping you might be able to answer a few questions I have about this place.”
The maid stopped and slowly looked up at Ruby with tired eyes. “Y-you’re a huntress…”
“I am. What is your name?”
“Cinder.”
Ruby smiled and extended a hand to Cinder. “It’s nice to meet you.”
Cinder smiled for a moment, then it quickly disappeared as she quickly started to work again, keeping her head low. “I’m… I’m not allowed to talk to you. Please, go to your room and I’ll bring you your meal.”
Ruby was about to speak until she heard a voice coming from behind her.
“Cinder, you’re needed in the kitchen.”
Ruby watched as Cinder stood up and started hurrying off past her, making her way downstairs. “Do your staff always get treated like this?”
The woman from the front desk stood behind Ruby, shaking her head. “Only that one. She’s a bit of a… problem. The only reason I dont fire her is because she’s one of my daughters. She knows she’s only to be seen, not heard. I’ll make sure she wont bother you again.”
Ruby watched the woman turn around and head back downstairs towards the kitchen after Cinder. At this rate, even if this ended up as a dead end with the trafficking ring, then maybe there was something else that she could fix.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cinder winced a bit as she brought a tray to room 402, doing her best to keep from moving the collar that was around her neck. Everytime she messed up, all she could feel was that familiar sting. And every time, it hurt. She adjusted a small cloth she had around her neck, hiding the scars from the collar. She quietly knocked on the door, praying that whoever was in this room wasnt going to treat her like the rest of the patrons did.
Ruby slowly opened the door and smiled a bit at Cinder. “I was wondering when you’d come around.”
Cinder looked away a bit, holding out a tray to Ruby and staying quiet. The pain from her last punishment still lingered around, and she was terrified to be caught talking to anyone now.
Ruby noticed and sighed, taking the tray. “If you’re not going to talk right now, then maybe you can help me out with a few things in my room. There’s a few spots that could use a bit of cleaning.”
Cinder nodded and slowly walked into the room, pausing once she saw Ruby’s weapon laying down on a table. It wasnt the first time she had seen a hunter’s weapon within easy grabbing, and wasnt the first time she had the desire to reach out for it.
Ruby noticed and walked over, picking up her weapon and smiling a bit. “Like weapons too? You can hold her if you’d like.”
Cinder hesitated for a moment, wanting to reach towards the weapon. She stopped half way and sighed and she pulled her hand back. “I… cant.”
“Why not?”
Cinder didnt answer, looking away from Ruby. She didnt know how to tell a huntress that she had to get away from her family. That she’d do anything if it meant not being with them anymore.
Ruby sighed and sat Crescent Rose down. “You… wanted to be a huntress at one point, didnt you?”
Cinder froze on the spot. The thought had occurred to her, and there was that one huntsman, Rhodes, who taught her a few things, but he disappeared when she was younger. “Y-yes… but its… more than that…”
“I’m not sure I understand.”
Cinder looked around nervously before pulling down the cloth around her neck and pulling up the sleeves of her outfit. Scars lined her wrists while one scar circled her neck exactly where her necklace, the collar she wore, sat.
Ruby frowned when she saw the scars on Cinder, picking up her weapon and heading out of the room. “Stay here.”
Cinder nodded and sat down, terrified about what was going to happen. She had spent years trying to figure out how to get away from the madam, but all of her attempts at obtaining a weapon to get away had failed. And now, an actual huntress had seen the marks that had been left, the reminders of each of her failures on running away, each mistake she had made while working.
It wasnt long before Cinder heard muffled shouts from outside the room, her sisters and the madam clearly angry at Ruby. She cowered a bit, thinking she knew exactly what to expect: Ruby was going to let the madam in just like everyone else. She’d believe the lies that were told, that she was a troubled child that was taken in by the gratitude of the madam’s heart, that she was a thief and a liar that everyone had to keep an eye on. Even after the shouts died down, she still waited, flinching as she watched the door open.
Ruby rushed into the room, blood dripping from her scythe as she grabbed her things. “Cinder, you’re coming with me.”
Cinder felt a bit confused, hesitating for a moment. “You… want me to come with you?”
“Well, currently you’re unemployed and have nowhere to go. You can either stay here in Atlas, maybe find your way down to Mantle and find a job, or you can come with me and I can help you become a huntress. I can at least teach you how to defend yourself and others from the grimm, maybe even help you take the exam for your hunter’s license. Give you a new start.”
Cinder was still a bit confused, but followed after Ruby, pausing as she saw the madam laying on the ground in a pool of her own blood. “You killed her…”
Ruby sighed as she kept walking. “She attacked me first. I thought all of this was going to be a dead end, but it seems like I ended up on the right track after all. I know you were bought through a child trafficking ring, and I know you’re not the only one she had purchased. If you can help me get a bit more proof, I think I can put an end to this. I know its a bit late and there isnt much I can do about what had happened to you, but I can at least help you with your new freedom now.”
Cinder sped up to catch up to Ruby, sticking close to her. “But why help me? I’m… I’m just a nobody. A kid that was sold into this life. I dont deserve any kindness.”
“Because if I cant help someone, then what’s the point of being a huntress?” Ruby stopped for a moment, pulling out her scroll and holding it up to Cinder to take a picture. “And besides, the world is already cruel enough. I think its time we try to make it a better place.”

Finally had time to read your Vernon fic and I am so happy and so in love with it. I waited a bit more than I first wanted to, cause I wanted to actually write feedback. Idk how to give feedback tho so instead I just collected some of my favourite quotes and tried to explain why I love them .-.
>You’ve finally managed to untangle yourself from the situation and have decided to head out of the bar for a much-needed breath of fresh air. You step out of the toilet, thinking that finally you’re home free—and get punched in the face.<
If this wasn't the mood of 2020 and of every single night out gone bad.... seriously I love the vibe created.
>So, naturally, you punch back.<
All of us when we entered 2021 and decide not to take more bullshit. But also this would 100% be my reaction, even if I knew the punch wasnt aimed at me I would still be fed up enough to punch back. And again love the vibe created.
“Yep,” you say, popping the p, and simultaneously the small balloon of his blown-up confidence.
I-.... Poor guy but also, this is so funny and such a great image.
>“You saw how easily I got K.O.ed,” he reminds you. Then, as inspiration hits, he touches his bandaged stitches lightly, putting on the best wounded-pup face he can muster. “I kind of need the help. To preserve my manly dignity.”<
I just love him being all puppy and wounded and lowkey begging for help (aka more time with the girl) and then following it up with "to preverse my manly dignity" Also because Vernon seems like a dude who would definitely see this as good reasoning.
>“Vernon.” He flashes his best smile to go with it, but you remain unfazed. Okay, well. Plenty of time to try that out later.<
Yesssssss love, love confident but also respectful and non pushy reactions. Also him not giving up makes me happy.
>When you turn to face him, Vernon has a shit-eating grin on his face.<
He would. Little shit, he definitely would. It's such an obvious line and it just works. Makes me angry but in that 'i want to be angry but im smiling' angry.
>“I did,” you say, then smirk, popping half the broken cookie into your mouth. “This one’s yours.”<
Yes. Yes. Cheeky lil thief that isnt really a theif and I just love the very specific trope 'says random specific sentence out of nowhere that hits to close to home, only for it to be revealed that theyre reading something aloud and didnt think of it themselves' and the specific trope 'stealing their food while they were distracted and they cant say anything about it cause theyre still distracted but for different reasons'
>"Your bruise," you say, and toss the pack to him. It smacks against a hard surface a second later, followed by yet another exclamation of surprise and pain.<
I laughed. Actually like out loud laugh chuckle. I can just -hear- the thud of frozen peas and the slightly drunk groan of someone getting hit with something that doesnt truly hurt but the confusion and betrayal does.
>VERNON: so i'm guessing 'i'll see you next week' was a lie<
heartbreak in a line. Just ,_,
>And his eyes, curse them, are still as soft as the mat you fell on whenever your dad knocked you down in the gym as a kid. They make all the muscles of your body stiffen, but cushion you too, taking the brunt of the fall. "If I didn't like it," Vernon says softly, "I wouldn't keep coming back to it."<
This is such a good comparison and builds the character and reveals so much and also yes Vernon being soft and honest and sweet. Like instead of denying it being bad he just, accepts it and shows that he likes it. This is so much better than responding "it isnt that bad" or "I'm not that stuck up" no this response is accepting and sweet and now I'm pouting cause I want someone to accept me, too....
Also:
THANK YOU. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING CLEAR CONSENT. Its such a small part but it makes it infinently better.
also idk how to give feedback on smut so have a keysmash instead

Consumed part 2
Tumblr media
(Y/n)'s pov
My gun held tightly in my hand as i crouched behind a stack of wooden crates outside the warehouse. I was about to pop the werewolf standing guard at the door but stop when a vamp showed up. Something wasnt right, vamps and werewolves never coexisted well none the less work together. I couldnt hear their conversation but it looked like they were making arrangements for something.
Just as the vamp turned to leave my cell phone rang. Damn it! I cursed myself, but no one knew my number except for sam and jody and they knew i was on a hunt so they would never have called me unless i went several days without contacting them. I shut the phone off quickly but it was to late, theyd heard it. I ran back towards my car which thankfully wasnt far away, i could hear one of them coming up behind me. I turned and fired off two shots and it connected with someone or something. Finally making it to my car i slung the door open but before i could climb inside someone grabbed me by my ankles.
I turned to see the vamps eyes gleaming at me as a sinister smile spread across his face. I was able to use my left leg to kick him square in the chest which knocked him backwards, giving me a few seconds to reach my katana in the back seat. Just as my fingers touched the handle he was back, he climbed on top of me and grabbed my hair. He smashed my head into the center console, my vision blurred and my ears began to ring. I found the handle of the glove box and yanked it open, i grabbed the syringe of dead mans blood. I shoved the syringe into his neck, he fell out of my car gasping on the ground.
I turned and grabbed the katana and unsheathed it, i smiled as i climbed out of the car standing over the vampire. I lifted my sword, but the vampire spoke before i cut his head off. "You have no idea what youre gettin into little girl." I kneeled down beside and held my katana to his throat. With one swift move i brought it down and his head seperated from the rest of his body. I stood and wiped the spatters of blood from my face, i felt a streak of blood coming from a small cut on my forehead where the vamp got that lucky shot in.
I tossed my sword in the backseat after cleaning it off and started my car. I didnt pay for another night at the motel so i guess ill drive home tonight even though i was exhausted. As i was driving down the road i pulled my cell phone out and found the number that had called earlier. I pressed redial and it went straight to voicemail. 'This is dean winchester, leave a message and ill get back to you as soon as possible.'
I pressed the end call quicker than i have ever before. How did he get my number? Most of all why was he calling me now? After all this time, he decides to now call me. Now hes going to see that i called him back which means he will call again. The winchesters never give up, i call sam and he answers on the third ring.
"(Y/N), everything okay?" Sleep was heavy in his voice but so was concern.
"Yeah, ill get you to meet me in a day or so to discuss this last hunt with you but theres another problem." I could feel the tension through the phone. "Dean called me. Do you know why?"
"I..uh." sam stuttered.
I slammed my fist on the steering wheel, "i knew it! You gave him my number. Why did you do that sam, you know how i felt about that."
I heard him sigh and at that moment i wasnt angry with sam because i know how dean is. "Im sorry, i tried not to but you know how dean is."
"Yeah i know sam. Its not like hes gonna show up at my house." I chuckled but sam was silent. I turned down the street to where my house was and sure enough there sat the black impala across the street from my driveway. Dean sitting in the drivers seat with his head leaned back.
"Son of a bitch." I said under my breath.
"Sorry." Sam said right before i hung up.
I pulled into my driveway and watch through my rearview mirror to see if dean was gonna make a move, he didnt. He just sat still with his head laid back, i didnt know what to do. Its been oer a year since i had seen him.
What would i say?
What would he say?
Would he apologize?
No! It didnt matter if he did or not, he cheated on me. That was the lowest point in my life, so low that i almost killed myself. I would have if sam hadnt have found me. I refuse to let him break me again. I got my gear and opened my door, only when i slammed it did i see dean move. He straightend up in his seat then his eyes met mine. I stare emotionless into his perfect green eyes, letting him know i didnt intend to talk to or see him. I turned and walked towards my front door. I heard a car door shut then heavy booted footsteps sprinting across the pavement.
By the time i got to my door he was right behind me on my front steps. I didnt turn towards him but i knew he was there.
"(Y/n), can we talk? Please?" His voice a gravely whisper.
I opened my front door and walked inside. Only then did i turn around. His expression was pained at first then his gaze went to my head where im sure the dried blood was still a streak down my face.
"What happened to your head?" He asked stepping towards me. I held my hand up to stop him but being dean winchester he kept coming. He held his hand out like he was going to touch me but i flinched and backed away.
"Dont dean. You need to leave and i mean it." I said with as much force as i could manage, to me it didnt sound believable.
"Just let me look at it."
I threw my bag down on the floor with more force than i intended but it made dean step back. Good i want him to be uncomfortable. "I dont need you to look at it. I dont need your help and i dont need you!" I yelled and slammed the door in his face.
I walked into the bathroom and turned the shower on, stripping off my soiled clothes and stepped in. I washed off all the dirt and dried blood, watching it go down the drain i wondered if dean was still outside. My walls and barriers i had built up this past year almost crumbled at the very sight of him. I turned the water when it ran cold and wrapped a towel around me, padding down the hall to my room i pulled out the first shirt i come to, which just happened to be deans flannel shirt i stole.
I sighed and wondered could this be a sign, then pushed the thought in the back of mind as i slipped it on and buttoned the first few buttons. I walked to the window and sure enough when i looked out the impala was still sitting there but dean was nowhere to be seen. I sighed and rolled my eyes, if he wanted to stay outside all night fine with me.
I didnt have much in the fridge, i had to choose between day old pizza and some old chinese food that i had no idea how long it had been there. Placing a slice of pizza on and plate i placed it in the microwave to heat up. I grabbed a bottle of beer out of the fridge, the microwave beeped a moment later.
I walked into the living room to sit and relax but stopped dead in my tracks when my eyes met deans as he sat on the couch like it was his own.
He crossed his arms over his chest and rested the ankle of his left foot on his right knee. "We need to talk."

The Time I Almost Decapitated Someone While Trying To Surf
Brace for a whole lot of pain and stupidity. It starts off a little slow but stick around for the AHHHHHHH As some of you may know, i am an intense klutz. As in I-Will-Trip-Over-Absolutely-Nothing-And-Probs-Knock-Over-The-Crown-Jewels kind of klutz. A Would-Trip-And-Fall-Off-A-Cliff kind of klutz I really need to drive this point home ok this is v important to this story So this is back in Peru (yes the same trip the chicken chased me off a cliff). Work is over for the day, the sun is starting to set, and all 40 of us Canadians are headed to the beach for our very first surf lessons So we show up and our instructors hurl wetsuits at us. I do mean hurl like mine wrapped around my face like a squid i nearly died before i even hit the water smh We get separated into groups of five and head off with our instructors. All the other groups had these young Peruvian guys and girls, all smiles and gentle teachers My instructor was a cranky 80 year old who never spoke and stared at us until we figured out what we were supposed to do Before we even get to go near the beach we start learning the technique on land. We lay down on these fake boards and pretend paddle and pretend stand, all in complete silence because who needs words right Im at the point of assuming our instructor doesnt speak english, which is totes cool cause we’re getting the message anyways. We’d spent three days working around the language barrier, now was no different. Moving on Our instructor finally deems us worthy of hitting the water so we all gleefully make our way to the beach. We were all sunshine and laughter, expecting the warm sand between our toes Not happening The beach is not soft like we had thought. It was rocks. Thousands of rocks and pebbles that sent us skittering as we descended the steep incline to the water First off: No one told me how freaking exhausting this crap is All those movies of people surfing like haha look at me this is so easy and majestic be one with the waves dude were straight up liars ok i was panting and heaving like a 90 year old race horse by the time i made it out far enough to catch a wave Cue twenty frustrating minutes of trying and failing to paddle fast enough to stay on a wave I thought i looked like Dash Incredible, majesticly spearing across the water from a horde of bad guys, my arms windmilling at break neck speeds Yeah no I was more of a drowning sloth if im completely honest Id make it maybe two feet by the time one wave passed and the next was already approaching Here’s where my surfing attempt took an unexpected turn Water splashed behind me and i didnt bother turning around. Probably one of my classmates heading for a better wave area “Need some help?” The voice was definitely not my classmates My instructor sat casually on his board behind me I was so shocked to hear him speak that i just nodded dumbly, not aware of what i was agreeing to. He hops off his board and bobs in the water for a second. He casually puts on hand on the back of my board like he was keeping me from floating away Behind him a wave approaches. I lay back down and get ready to paddle. I figured maybe he’ll tell me when to start paddling so i can actually catch this one but the wave is getting closer and closer and there was still no word from him.  I was long past when I started paddling before I hear this soft intake of breath and then, “BRACE!!!” I obey blindly and grip my board in terror wondering if there was a shark lurking beneath me Instead my 80 year old instructor absolutely freaking catapults me forwards i swear that man could launch Niel Armstrong into orbit single handedly NASA who??
Im rocketing along along, too stunned to move Im on a wave!! Im on a… wave????? I scramble to my feet thinking somebody better be seeing this cuz i will not be doing this again By some miracle i manage to stand ok i do not have great balance on land so sticking me on a board in the middle of the ocean was in no ones best interest So im whizzing along feeling like im flying and just generally trying not to face plant on my board or topple into the sea ok i just got up here no way i can manage it a second time Something about the water ahead of me doesnt look right The sun is glaring off the water just enough to block whatever that thing is. Im squinting, praying im not about to hit a rock It was so much worse It was a man He was casually chillin on his board, a set of headphones in his ears, looking to the world like he was asleep Im heading straight for this guy at top speed and as i get closer i realize two very important things I dont know how to stop … … Or turn I think of the wicked looking fins on the bottom of my board I remember mildly thinking this is gonna hurt before reality truly set in I very well might kill this man if i dont figure something out fast I start screaming and flailing with as much strength as i can muster “MOVE MOVE!!!! UNLESS YOU WANNA BE FILLET LIKE A FISH YOU GOT MOVE I CANT STOOOOOP” He casually lifts out one ear bud and looks at me with a barely audible “que?” “YOU GON DIE MOVE!!!!” Clearly he didn’t understand english, but flailing and screaming is pretty universal He leisurely lays back and paddles forewards, moving him ever so slightly out of the danger zone My board hits his as i pass so close i could have flicked his nose My board launches off his and by some miracle i manage to not only stay on it, but stay standing I twist and stare back at the man I definitely did not kill as he casually lays back down on his board Good. That would have been troublesome to explain to immigration officers on my way home I face the beach again and prepare to enjoy my calm landing and– I am less than five feet from shore going full speed SHIT I do what any sane person would do I jump ship
That was the biggest mistake of my life
See just as i jumped for dear life the wave hit its crest and i landed right in the middle of it
Suddenly i was a soggy pair of Canadian socks in the worlds worst dryer
On a very important side note, i am attached to the board by a long thin cable that is velcroed around my ankle, meant to keep the board from drifting and keep me safe
That cord is the bane of my existence
In my Horror Dryer Extreme experience the cord had managed to wrap from my ankle all the way up to my thigh, digging cruelly into my skin even through the wet suit
I slam into shore like a beached whale
Remember kids: shore is not my friend shore is OW
I slam into the rocks and lay there dazed for a moment, gasping for air. No way im going back out there ill just let the water wash over me im done surfing im done with the ocean
But the ocean wasnt done with me
Suddenly im getting dragged by the leg down the beach. I sit up, ignoring the stones slowly filling my pants.
My board had gotten stuck in the out take and was dragging me out to sea once again
I go through another round of Angry Dryer Mama Ocean and get slammed mercilessly back into shore, this time hitting my face so hard i split the skin above my eye. I still have a scar hidden above my eyebrow from this
At this point i am done
I try to stand and grab my board but the cord was still wrapped around my leg
Our teams guide who just so happened to be a surfer comes running over to see if im ok. “hey! Get up! Another wave is coming!”
I try to shout back “i cant, im stuck!” But that’s not what comes out of my dizzy mouth
Instead i lift my leg in the air like a dog and scream “I cant! It’s winding!”
My guide took this as “I cant! Im drowning!”
He runs over looking like a stern third grade teacher “you’re fine just get up!”
“You think im not trying??”
Another wave slams into me from behind and im washed out and washed back in. Lil me cant catch a break
Somewhere in the time id been brutally slammed back to shore my guide vanished. Fine then
I quickly unwrap my leg and scramble to my feet
Screw this, screw the board, im leaving!!
I start sprinting for my life up the hill to safety
SPLAT
My leg is yanked out from beneath me and i face plant hard
I didnt take off the velcro strap
Washed out
And washed back in
I rip the velcro from my ankle the second i hit shore
My guide appears out of nowhere and grabs my board and starts shouting at me to run
I ask no questions as I scramble up the side
Now, my guide, carrying two 50lbs surf boards makes it to the top of the hill just fine
Not me
A wave sucker punches me and drags me out again
Washed out. Washed in.
At this point im just accepting my fate to be forever bound by the sea im like the opposite of a selkie except the sea has my foot and i cant stay on the freaking land free me from my curse
Eventually i make it up to the top and collapse like sweet releif i am free of this hell
My guide sets my board down and looks at me. “Rekina. Stay here, the others are having a hard time too. Dont do anything stupid” trust me pal im going no where this is my home now tell my mother i love her
(Honestly Never tell me not to do something stupid. It’s a sure fire way to make sure i do the absolute dumbest thing possible)
I shoot him a weak thumbs up as he takes off down the beach, cackling at the poor idiot Canadians floundering in the surf.
Youd think my Adventure was over
Not a chance pal
I sit up and notice one of my classmates in the same predicament i was in
There wasnt even another option for my next choice
I stagger back down the hill and help him up. I grab his board and all but shove him back up the hill and somehow we both made it up safe and sound
Until we see our teacher not moving on the beach below us, her body getting battered and tossed around by the waves
Our guide is nearly a kilometer away down the beach, too far for us to call for help
I look at my classmate and he’s shaking his head like i am not going down there again are you crazy
I pop to my feet and race down the hill i am not letting my teacher die on my watch ok im not that kind of person fight me
My classmate groans and follows behind
I grab the teacher who was thankfully just stunned and unhurt and help her to her feet. My classmate grabs her board and they both start staggering up the incline far too slowly. I stay behind them to make sure they dont fall and hit the surf again. Happily they made it up just fine
Not my ass
Im slammed face first into the ground courtesy of a massive wave that just loves me too much
The ocean gave me a friendly love tap as it dragged me down the hill and slammed me against it one more time for good measure
I finally make it back to the top and swear to never surf again in my life (but let’s be real even near drowning cant stop me from trying again)
All in all a pretty successful first attempt

July 12 2020
I remember being in my grandmas dining area. It was in the afternoon and natural lighting filled the place. I was leaning on the table listening to someone talk. He looked like a cliche detective working for the fbi. He wore a brown wool coat. He flung a photograph on my grandmothers table. "Here. Thats the place," he said probably lighting a cigarette. It was a beautiful ruin. It looked like a pyrean ruin from enderal but it was so different. There was moss and ivy growing all around. It was grey stone outlined with gold metal. There was a huge opening that sat on a small body of water. "Wow," I said.
I can mostly remember fighting for my life and family next. I just remember fighting off two people. One looked a bit like post malone and the other was a girl whose features I cant recall. I remember an idea popping into my head- of grabbing a knife and using it to fight him. Others of my family did so too. Now it was like we were sword fighting. The opponent had knives too! Other people went after him and I tried to direct tactics but I yelled them out so he knew everything. I ended up just dropping the strategy and doing it myself. I crawled under the table while another family member kept him busy, and started slicing at his legs. He let out a playful cry "Ow! That hurt, but you only scratched me," he looked down to me grinning. I looked back to him out of breath and bewildered. What the fuck?! I just let loose then. I sliced and stabbed and stabbed and sliced. My other family members joined in. The girl lay on the floor knocked out. My family members didnt have my skin color. They looked...golden or apricot colored? Or like nude androids..naked and slightly blurred.
What was left of the man was nothing but sparse pieces of skin and bones. But he was sfill alive! He sat there on a chair in the middle of my grandmothers old kitchen looking like a menacing 5 year old. We tried questioning him. All I remember next is him trying to kill us. And it was even worse because he used his bones, so he was much stronger. Knives werent going to cut it.
I ran. But he caught up to me. He grabbed hold of my two wrists and tried to break them. His grip was ridiculously strong. I cried in pain. I somehow got out. I ran passed two lottle children who looked like naked androids. I was confused and feared for their safety. But I kept going, my assailant ignored them and kept going after me. I hopped the stair railing and landed a couple feet down to dodge him. But he appeared down there too and almost caught up to me. I just ran outside to get away from him. He followed me outside. Now he looked like a menacing 12 year old. "Cmon theres nowhere to hide!" He said in a playful manner. I felt choked up and I inched backward. But suddenly there was a gust of wind and he blew away into golden dust. I watched him fly into the sky.
I turned and walked into a grove of thick trees. They all looked like different versions kd the oak tree I meditate by. It was suddenly fall, and so many more trees surrounded me. I was sniffling and crying and smiling humbly. I climbed up a small hill, the path was made out of the earth and had several puddles. It had just rained. I could hear a low humming sound. "Youre always protected. Youre always protected in your dreams,"
I looked up placing my hand on one tree. A trail of tears ran down the side of my cheeks. "Thank you for always protecting me," I told them.
The path opened up into a clearing. It was a beautiful place. It looked like an abandoned temple. It was made out of grey stone and outlined in gold metals. It was half sunken in the water. I walked on eager to explore. I walked on a "bridge", a fallen piece of pillar. I could see the water below, it was vast and the wind blew many little waves on it. I was so amazed and filled with childlike wonder. I thought what if I dropped down in there? A small part of me feared it too deep, I wasnt a good swimmer what if I drowned? Another part of me said Id be taken care of and that I could do it.
But at the last moment something pulled my attention. I turned around and raised my eyes. I was met with the ruin I saw in the photograph. I stood there smiling to myself. The way time and the universe worked was really funny. I decided to swim in the water, I wanted to get closer to it. There was so much to explore. I wanted to see the inside. The water wasnt that deep after all. I was halfway there when I heard voices. Three people who looked like they worked in law were discussing something. The detective who showed me the photograph was there too. I lowered myself into the water so that only my top head was exposed. I dont think they noticed me though. I felt suddenly different. Like myself, but not really myself. As if I had taken on different spiritual properties. I was now apart of that temple, and now it was like I was looking at a different strand of time or reality.
There were photographs next to me. It was of that lady, I was proud of her. Her name was Jane. I ended up peeing in the water, blood came up and I rushed to cover it.
I woke up.
