Cool night air brushes across your cheeks as you set foot on the roof, eyes already scanning your surroundings in the hopes of finding what you’re looking for here. Of course, it doesn’t take much — Hongjoong is a hard man to miss unless the government officials are looking for him, in which case he has an uncanny ability to make himself totally invisible in a crowd.
There are no crowds up here though; just you, him, and the night to keep you company.
You see him clearly across the stretch of roof that’s accentuated by gaudy neon signs and other electrical components that keep the bar below powered.
“Closed up shop for the night,” you offer as a means of greeting the man. He’s donned his usual dramatic regalia tonight as well, complete with the patterned bandana pulled up over his nose and the ridiculous cowboy hat he fetched out of a dumpster several months back. It matches the vibe of the bar, he had told you and Mingi. While you weren’t on board, Mingi was more than a little eager to pull together a similar outfit for himself. “Everyone else went home.”

Military
A boy was crying and yelling. “I don't want to go to military when I grow up,” The mother annoyed assured him that since he is only 12, there is still 6 years to go. That is a long time, perhaps in 6 years the rules has changed. Maybe its not a requirement anymore, and more of a choice. The stupid fucking boy stopped crying and thought "perhaps you're right mother, perhaps indeed."
6 years later
The boy now 18 years old was quite miserable going to carpenter school. "I don't want to go to school today," he said to his mother. "Just finish this year and you can do something else," the mother said. Little did he know that there was a surprise for him in the mail box. A letter just for the boy. "Who would send me letters?," the boy thought. He slit open the letter and got quite nervous. "Yikes, its from the government."
"YOU ARE HEREBY FORCED TO TRAVEL TO A BUILDING WHERE WE CAN TEST IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE SUBBMITED TO THE MILITARY. IF YOU DO NOT SHOW UP, YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL LOL" - The Military
PTSD from 6 years ago came rushing down. "Mother was wrong all along" he said. How can a mother be wrong? How can the government do this to a little boy like me? Barely out of the womb and now straight into fucking war.
Day of the testing months later
Lucky for the boy he had legit reason to take a day of school. "I'm so happy I won't get a mark on my day of from school". Only times you have a legit reason and wont get punished at school for it is for testing like these, or funerals. And it did feel like a funeral, the boys freedom had officially died. "My freedom" he cried inside while on the train.
The boy had to follow people that was going to the same place, because he had no fucking clue where to go. He wasn't used to being on the road alone. Eventually they did find the place and the waiting started. Hours later sitting at a very uncomfortable chair someone called his name "ANDRÉ". It was for the doctor. The boy sat down and the doctor asked all kinds of questions. "Any mental problems?" "Any health problems?" "Problems in the family?" Nope nope nope the boy said to it all. "what a dull boy," the doctor probably was thinking. Time for sound test. The Doctor put the boy in a soundproof box and played certain tones. The boy had to click a button for every time he heard a tone. Little did the doc know that this dull little boy was being a little cheeky. He didn't press every time he heard the tone. "that'll show him," the boy badly smiled. "looks good," the doc said happily. "Fuck". The boy was disappointed. Back to the chair with him.
What felt like hours later they gathered all the boys for math tests. "Another chance to fake my results" the cheeky little boy thought. He suddenly noticed that by every random answer on the page, there was a very subtle dot drawn by a pencil. The military had just reused old papers from older contestants. The boy stupidly picked every answer that had the dot and it probably made him look like some math genius. So by picking all the wrong answers he picked the right.. Back to the chair. Hours later he was called in one last time by a dude that asked him all kind of questions. "Do you want to go to the military?". "Fuck no" the boy thought, "No," the boy said. After bunch of questions the boy was free to leave and head home. "I probably wont get called in for military in 1 year time" he thought to himself. Surely my answers was dumb enough for me to not get called in?
One year later.
Another letter in the mail.
"YOU ARE HEREBY FORCED TO TRAVEL TO THE MILLITARY, THE SEA MILITARY SPECIALLY BECAUSE WE KNOW YOU HATE THE SEA AND GET SEASICK VERY FUCKING EASILY. IF YOU DONT GO WE SEND YOU TO JAIL LOL" - The Military.
The boy was not amused. Finally done with school and now to military.
The day of
The boy couldn't sleep, he only had hours before he had to leave. He got a brilliant idea to watch a 3 hour long new Lynch movie that just came out. So instead of sleeping, he watched a 3 hour long acid trip of a film. Brilliant idea.
The mother was teary eyed knowing she wouldn't see the son for a couple of years. Meanwhile the sleep depraved boy was sure he was coming back soon. "No fucking way I'm staying" he thought. "Told you so" he said to his mother while giving her a hug and off to military with him. 8 hours train ride went quick, he was listening to some bad Dane Cook show while thinking of that fucking film. "What the fuck did I watch".
He arrived at the station. Yet again no idea where to go. The boy found some poor souls that was going to the same camp, together they found the bus and away they went. The camp wasn't far away, 15 minute bus ride. The boy was surprised how local the camp was compared to the city. Like a big playground in the middle of civilisation. But instead of children running around playing, these grown ass men are running around playing war. The gates opened at the first thing he saw was people walking in groups, mighty impressive coordinated groups. Rifles on their shoulders, swinging them around like a show.
The boys got showed around and eventually ended up in a big gym. Bags in the floor while police and dogs sniffed out for drugs. Even though the boy was clean he was still nervous that the dog found something. Couple stoners was sweating beside him, and the dog barked. The boy was jealous of the stoners, "lucky them" he thought. They can leave and he was stuck here. After the drug sniffing, all the boys was pushed to the cinema of the camp. There they had to wait for all the other people getting sniffed out. A film were showing the the people waiting, it was "The Hills Have Eyes 2" from 2007. The boy found it a bit weird to sit in a cinema in a military camp watching a film with gore and people getting raped, but it was what it was.The film turned off suddenly. All the boys were done getting sniffed. Everyone was now in the cinema.
"PEOPLE THAT ARE STAYING SIT IN ROW 1-3". "PEOPLE THAT HAVE A LEGIT REASON TO LEAVE, GO SIT IN ROW 4 AND UP" a dude yelled. "Oh fuck what do I do? I don't want to stay, but I have no legit reason to stay other than a note from the doctor that say that I have "snapping hips"". “Fuck it”, the boy went to row 4 and sat down. Luckily a bunch of other people followed suit. They were around 10 all together. "THE PUSSIES, FOLLOW ME", the man yelled (not really but he was 100% thinking it). All the pussy boys follow the man trough the playground. He stopped at a house. "Here you sleep for tonight, tomorrow after breakfast you are going to see a doctor to see if you have a LEGIT reason to leave. Good night." The boys went inside. There were pool tables, tv with news playing. All kinds of fun shit to do. The boy sat in the corner while all the other pussy boys were bitching about how they wanted to leave. This felt good to the boy, knowing there were other boys like him there.
It was getting late and all the boys went up to the bedroom to sleep. The boy was shocked to see that all the beds did not have the beddings already put on. The boy had never done it himself. He struggled getting it on, so he eventually he had to ask for help. Ashamed the boy went to bed, very quickly falling asleep. A sleep that was quite comfortable and he slept very well. (No kappa).
The next day
A dude with a fucking bell in the hall woke up all the boys. "Time for shower and breakfast". The boy had never showered with other people in his life, he always avoided it like the plague, so he avoided it this time as well. The boy grew more pathetic by the minute. They all went outside to the dining hall, it was dark as fuck. Dark and cold. There was a long line outside of the dining hall. It took about 20 minutes to finally get in, eat stale bread with cheese while listening to a hall for of noise. "I got to get the fuck out," the boy thought. After the food all the pussies got pushed to a building where all the doctors were located. There was a tv in the waiting room playing "Band of Brothers". Nothing more ironic watching people getting blown up in the war on tv in the waiting room of a military camp. Outside the window the boy was watching people doing push ups. "Thank God I'm not one of them, I literally cant even do one push up". DING, the boy got an idea. He has a note from the doctor about snapping hips (Which means that many of his joins snaps every time he moves them in a certain way), which makes push ups and sit ups quite painful. Not to mention that he doesn't shower with other people, because he often got to clean his hairy asshole in a hard way. "Cant bend over like that in the shower in front of people, neither can one go around with poopy asshole", the boy thought. The boy now had an legit excuse. Hairy asshole and snapping hips.
Literally hours later the boy got called in. He now has a plan. "So why do you not want to stay?", the doctor asked. "Well I don't want to shower with other people and I have snapping hips.". "Why don't you want to shower with other people?" the doc asked. "Well I'm very hairy... a certain place." he said. "Most boys are hairy, its very normal" doc laughed. "uhm, I got a hairy asshole", the boy shamefully said. "Oh, and snapping hips, I can write a recommendation to release you." The doctor said. The boy could breath out in relief.. The doctor printed out something, made the boy sign it. "Take this to the gate, show it and wait for your bags to be delivered". The boy shook his hand and walked to the gate. There he met other pussies also waiting, "lucky them" he thought, "Maybe they have hairy assholes as well".
He waited for his bag and he could finally leave. The boy looked back at the adult playground, smiling at all the grown ass dudes running around like it was important. "So long" the boys menacingly thought. The boy took the bus back to town. He has never felt that free, free to  do whatever (not even 12 years later that feeling has been that strong). No more Military, no more school. He walked around the town in a bliss. Visited a local DVD shop and bought a bunch of DVD's. A imported DVD of Eraserhead was one of them (which he sold 12 years later kind of regretting not keeping it for the memory). He then sat at the station waiting for the train to come, looking at his shiny new DVD's. The train ride back was quite painful, the boy had forgot to take a piss this whole trip, and a cute looking lady was sitting beside him blocking the way. Better not disturb the lady and just be in pain instead. Eight hours later he texted his sister to ask come get him, not even telling his parents of his arrival. A funny prank he thought. The sister drove him home and he ringed the bell. "I'm home", he said. The parents was probably very disappointed learning that they couldn't get that 1 year break away from him, but the boy couldn't care less. The boy can now go back to watch movies and game. And he gamed happily ever after.

alright, today was actually a pretty good day! Woke up to my alarm at 8:30, and the first thing I did was take the stick of butter out of the fridge and stick it on the counter so it would be soft when I had to butter my bagel like half an hour later 😂 from there I started getting ready, suit and make up and all that. The make up presented a small issue because I’m fairly sure I left my make up bag which had the products I had been using on a regular basis in it in New York but thankfully I happen to own a shit more products (I used to be a lot more into make up than I am now, but to be fair half of it is stage make up stuff) so I hauled out my giant make up box and picked my best replacements, and I was actually pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Once I got all that done and ready to go I buttered my bagel and ate it before getting an uber downtown. Uber driver was nice, we chatted about the weather and jobs and all that fun stuff. I got dropped off at the building at 10, so exactly an hour before the interview, which was perfect. there was a Starbucks in the actual building which was super convenient, so I went in there and chilled out for a bit. Usually like 20 minutes before the interview time I go to the bathroom to make sure everything’s in place with my make up and suit and generally look presentable, but this Starbucks didn’t have a bathroom and there was no public one to use in the building. well crap. I go next door to the 7-11 and ask if they had one I could use if I bought something, but they said they didn’t have one for public use, but said I could try the rather nice looking restaurant across the street. so I run over there slightly panicked at this point because I wanted to make sure I was good to go and not be late for the interview, so I walk in, of course it’s a Thursday morning so there’s only a couple people there, and the host comes over and I was just like “I have a job interview across the street, is there any chance I could use your bathroom to make sure I’m good to go?” and he was like “yes of course!” and gave me directions to get there, and then I was also helped by staff at the (nice) hotel it was attached to (to the point where they were like “boys, show this young lady where the bathroom is please” to the two young guys working there) and I was just like damn this is all so nice, usually it’s difficult to get a restroom to use downtown, but as grateful as I was for their kindness (and I’m of course not bashing them in any way or saying they did anything wrong) but I had the feeling in the back of my mind that if I hadn’t been a young white woman dressed in a fancy business suit, I probably would not have gotten the same reaction. The reason a lot of places won’t have public bathrooms is because they don’t want the homeless to come in and use them (which is of course a whole issue unto itself on how we treat the less fortunate and dehumanize them in our society) so it was just kind of a moment for me to reflect and make sure I realize that my experience with these sorts of things isn’t universal, and just because I didn’t personally experience something doesn’t mean it’s not the reality for others. So it was a good reminder for me to be aware of my privilege and not dismiss the concerns of others just because I didn’t share them. But anyway, I used the bathroom and made sure I was good to go, said thank you again on the way out and headed over to the building and up to the 18th floor where the interview was. When I came up to the door that had their suite number and name plaque outside it was just a wooden door, not the glass reception doors a lot of places have in the front, so I kinda hesitantly opened the door and it definitely looked like the back entrance, so I was like “did I come in the wrong door??” but the paralegal was just like “you’re Rachel? come on in” and led me to a conference room so that was easily resolved. The guy was finishing a call and joined me a few minutes later. He basically opened by being like “so I read through all your stuff and it seemed pretty clear to me that you entered law school with a pretty narrow focus of wanting to work with kids and put in a lot of work towards that, but then the job market tends to force you to look elsewhere for work” and explained the same thing happened to him where he wanted to go into health law but there were no jobs and he ended up going into a different field entirely. and honestly like, him just acknowledging that off the bat rather than asking me why I wanted to work in this field and me having to come up with some flimsy answer immediately put me at ease and made me feel a lot more comfortable. He went on to say that there are of course transferable skills, and the main one here would be helping people in vulnerable situations, which is what I’ve wanted to do by getting into law in the first place (it just can vary who exactly we’re helping) and we proceeded to talk about my experiences at the DV clinic and in child welfare when it came to dealing with clients around sensitive subjects and we honestly just had like a really good conversation about it and I feel like we really connected. After we’d gone through most of that he started telling me about the main business they handle, I had done some internet research on the firm so I had a basic idea, but basically they handle suits brought by production companies against private citizens who may have downloaded movies or other media off the internet illegally (so moral of the story here kids is don’t download shit off the internet illegally because it can get you sued to the tune of $2,000-$5,000) and a lot of time it’s like, someone’s teenager or sometimes it’s just completely inaccurate and they didn’t do anything at all, so we’re basically defending against those suits, and of course that’s often people in vulnerable situations who don’t have a couple thousand bucks to spare to deal with a lawsuit they never saw coming, and that’s definitely something I can get behind. It did say that sometimes it’s porn companies that are suing 😂 which I’m sure my parents would be thrilled to hear about, but hey, at least we’re not representing the porn company, just the user 😂😂😂. He was actually telling me about a situation where the company was putting their own content on the internet to be downloaded and then suing people for downloading it, at which point I was like OH THIS WAS THE PLOT FOR AN EPISODE OF THE GOOD WIFE like exactly so apparently that was based on a real company who ended up getting indicted for doing so because that’s a, hella illegal. When he asked if I had any questions my first one was about expectations on hours, because the last few firms I’ve interviewed with have made it very clear that they expect way more than 40 hours a week, meaning staying late every day and often working weekends and like....I can’t do that lol, even if my body could put up with that (which I seriously doubt it could) my mental health would take such a nosedive without being able to have like any social interaction with my friends. so while this whole interview is going well I had in the back of my mind that if the hours expectation is bad that could screw this all over, but thankfully he was like yeah, our office hours are 9 to 5:30 and we pretty much stick to that, if you have something to finish sure you might stay late a few nights but that’s not the normal and definitely not working weekends, at which point I just let out the biggest sigh of relief lol I was like you have no idea how good it is to hear that 😂 and of course I made clear I’m totally ok with staying late sometimes during the week if there's stuff to get done, but having my weekends to rest and recharge is important, and he was like “yeah I totally agree, I’m the same way” so that was a huge relief. I asked a little about the other less popular side of his practice which was based on drones and aviation law, he was an alum of my law school which happens to be one of the best schools in the country for aviation law (not that I did jackshit related to it when I was there, but I can still use that to my advantage) so he explained it was mostly commercial stuff, definitely nothing government wise which was relieving lol. and yeah that was about it, overall I felt like it went really well and it could be a really good fit, so I was happy! Once I got outside I considered doing public transit home but it was cold and getting to any public transit would involve a bit of a walk, so I decided to just do an uber pool which ended up taking like 10 minutes to get to me, but still better than public transit. once I got home I chilled out for a bit listening to podcasts while trying to assemble my new podcast mic, which thankfully worked very well, before deciding to start on my taxes, which my plan to handle up to that point had been go to TurboTax and go from there, and thankfully that ended up being enough of a plan, it was pretty easy because I only made a fairly limited amount of money last year (being that I was only actually employed for two months of it) so there wasn’t a whole lot of complicated stuff to do. I didn’t really know what to expect as far as refunds or owing money would go because I’ve never done this before, but apparently the federal government owed be $621 which was nice, and I owed the Illinois government $10 😂 which I was like okay I can live with that 😂. It had estimated that I owe them $3 in taxes based on stuff I bought off the internet and hadn’t paid state sales tax on, and I was just like uhhh I think I bought a lot more stuff off the internet than that, but let’s go with that 😂. So that was easy enough. The only snafu I encountered at the end was that while I could file my federal taxes online, which was the bulk of it, I ended up needing to do my state ones by mail because I hadn’t filed in Illinois for the past few years and I don’t have an IL drivers license (though I’m planning on getting one very soon!) so apparently they couldn’t confirm my identity online and needed me to send them a piece of paper with my signature on it to prove it, so I printed that out and stuck it in a big envelope along with a check made out to them for $10 and I’ll take that by the UPS store tomorrow to get sent out. so yeah, that was easy. After that I didn’t do very much more work, mostly just chilled out. I finished watching The Umbrella Academy which was very good, and then switched to The Americans which I’m almost at the end of season 4 in. They go really quickly because they only have 13 episode seasons, I feel like I shouldn't already be in season 4 at this point and there’s only 6 seasons, so I’m actually fairly close to the end. It’s been getting really good though, so I guess we’ll have to see where it goes from there. And yeah, finished an episode of that and started getting ready for bed, wasted time procrastinating of course, and now I’m here. I gotta get up at 9 tomorrow (slight improvement over 8:30 today) and head back downtown for our first official meeting on the sexual harassment case, so I’m looking forward to that. I emailed my co-counsel today asking if we can meet 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting time just to chat quickly about the case and make sure we’re on the same page and he said we could do that, so I think that will be helpful just to make sure we’re thinking the same things. And yeah, that’s pretty much it, suddenly I am very sleepy and it is just past 1 am so I am in fact going to go to sleep now. Goodnight dears. Happy Friday.

main points:
- brunch with sheena at IHOP
- finish booking seattle and chicago trip with jwoos
- two NY app reviews
- looking around at other local smash tourneys
- dinner with dad and sheena
- help dad clean up / set up the kitchen a bit for renovations / 7 minute workout
- find resources for how to learn chinese through watching TV shows and found a viki, a site with an insanely useful learning tool!!
- help sheena with her AP lang essay
today i:
- woke up at 10am. i felt really exhausted and passed out shortly after and woke up again to my alarm at 11am. i chilled out in bed for a bit and finished up typing friday’s blog post. it snowed like an inch last night :o dad had already woken up to shovel the snow and he and mom had cleaned up most of the kitchen cabinets and made some space for the garage to move the old counters into. they had also added plastic covering for stuff in the living room like TV and couch
- went to get brunch with sheena at IHOP. we spent a while trying to figure out where to go and we just settled with IHOP lmaoo. dad gave us the last two dunkin donuts so he could recycle the box. we left and got there around 1pm and got a table for 2
- we both got a breakfast sampler. she upped her pancakes to strawberry bananas but i stuck with the normal buttermilk. i usually get a french toast combo but i was feeling something more salty so i got the sampler. it was p good
- came back home around 2:30pm and finished booking the seattle plane back home and the seattle airbnb with jwoos. we figured out what we were gonna do and the timeline and then booked everything over messenger and then we were done :D
watched an excellent video on the benefits of college from johnny harris, the guy from vox
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYjBxxm0lmM
- i did two NY app reviews and also just kind of browsed around the local smash community website. trying to see if there were any other tourneys nearby. there’s one happening next tuesday and it’s like a 40-50 minute drive from me. idk if it’s worth it cause the event doesn’t seem to have too many people showing... at least on the fb event
- ate dinner with sheena and dad around 7pm. we were pretty hungry and mom went to go pick up grandma and grandpa from the airport to take them to their place in philly. we started eating and had some beef + potato, beef tender and some veggies. it was part of the stuff dad was preparing from yesterday cause we won’t be able to use the kitchen much starting tomorrow. it was a pretty good meal. dad talked a bit about the soviet union and communist china with rations for foods. and how they used potatoes a lot. each family in china, even if you had the money to pay for food, could only get a certain amount. which is wild... like a set amount of rice per family, set amount of meat. it didn’t matter how many people were in your family... people would starve. mom came home halfway through us eating and also joined in on eating. then she went to take a shower and sheena went upstairs to do homework. dad talked to me a bit about the government shutdown and then materialism / spending money in a capitalist society like the U.S. vs in asian countries like china
then we packed up the dishes. he stored the foods and i washed the dishes. then i helped him put up a plastic curtain thing from one side of the kitchen into the open front door area so that it would block out dust from the renovations
- i did a 7 minute workout with sheena in mom’s room. dad reminded us to do it :p mom was on her phone on the couch chilling while we did it LOL. we had to do it in their room cause the living room’s taken up by all the new cabinets that’ll be installed
- i spent some time online trying to find a way to learn chinese by watching TV because i really want to learn it well (finally). my dad suggested it and so did many people on the internet from what i saw before. i came back to a fluentu blog post that suggested a few TV shows to watch, starting with chinese dramas. i tried to watch a chinese drama but it was kind of hard to understand with chinese speaking and chinese subtitles... i was like... i need a way to understand what they’re actually saying
so i thought maybe the solution was to get more guided videos. and i went back to the fluentu site. i found it before and tried a free trial. i signed up for another free trial and realized why i stopped using it. though they have a good approach to learning, the selection is a bit limited. i was hoping for more full length TV shows but they had mostly short 3 minute commercials. it was cool that i could select vocabulary/subtitles to save them for later to learn. they also had double chinese subtitle and english subtitles. i was like “that’s handy”
i watched a paper marriage commercial. then i tried to watch a TED talk and i realized that reading just the english subs might actually be all i needed. so i found a chinese drama with english subtitles on viki and watched the first 3 minutes. it actually wasn’t too bad. but i feel like i still needed chinese subs to understand the english equivalent of what they were saying... so i needed double subtitles
i found some reddit threads where people asked and a few people pointed to downloading different tools that can display multiple subtitles. then someone said viki had a learning mode that was built into the web player... i was like... whaaaaat??
i looked up viki learning and there it was: a chinese and english double subbed list of 30 chinese drama TV shows. i spent some time finding one that i thought i might actually enjoy watching. then i started the first 10 minutes of it and was so impressed. it had the same features as fluentu. i could click on the vocabulary in the subtitles to understand what it meant, while also getting the english equivalent. and it was all 100% free??? without even needing to make an account?? BLASPHEMY!! i was wonderfully surprised. what an amazing site. my dad also came to check in on sheena and me and i showed him the site and he was also impressed. good job viki team :D
i watched the first 10 minutes but then had to stop cause sheena needed some help with her lang paper :p she was writing the refutation and concession paragraphs for a paper about creativity classes and whether they should exist or not. she needed help with examples for her argument and i gave her some ideas and worked with her for 20-30 minutes
- took a long shower around 11:30-12
- sheena needed some more help with the concession + refutation points. she needed to come up with a concession example/conclusion so i helped her out until 1:40am, where she finally finished and printed it out. she went to sleep :p she gotta go to school early tomorrow. the grind begins again
- i’m writing this at 2:29am i’m gonna brush my teeth and sleep

Alright well today was fine. I slept in, which was nice, but I have to wake up early tomorrow so I'm not looking forward to that. My official alarm was set for 1:15 for my 2 pm PT appointment, but I woke up at like 12:54 so I just got up then. Had breakfast, got ready, then walked over to the PT place. I don't really know what to think of it so far. I really hope it's being effective, or at least will be, because this one muscle on my side has been killinggggg me all the time lately and I'm so sick of it. I'm gonna try to be really good with the home exercises though so I can deal with this and get back to my normal activities ASAP. So that was good I guess. Walked back home, chilled out for a while, then got ready again (did my make up this time) and walked to the train to go to school. We were supposed to have the PAD board transition meeting then hopefully I could sneak into the review class for my crim pro II class (the meeting was from 5:30-6:30, the review class started at 5:50). So we met, and it was fine, not really anything I didn't already know lol so nothing too mindblowing there. I left at like 6:25 to try and sneak into the back of the review class and caught the last 20 minute or so of the discussion, but the prof gave me the notes she had been letting people copy into their notes for coming to the review session so I was happy about that. After class came home and started Arrow. I knew Katrina Law probably wasn't in this one, but the possibility that she might be made me want to watch it lol. And it was actually a pretty good episode I'll say. I'm really really over this "Felicity is about to make a bad choice and we have to stop her" plot when they've legit done so much worse shit than that and frankly it just feels a little sexist to me that Oliver can go off killing people at will but when Felicity steps a little towards the dark side he freaks out on her (typical). The fight scenes were good though, and of course ARGUS is using black sites on US soil because why wouldn't they be?? Then there was the little subplot with Quentin and Rene which I wanted to like, but their continued complete lack of knowledge of how the child welfare system works continues to drive me up the fucking wall because THATS LITERALLY NOT HOW ANY OF THAT WORKS and GAH this isn't like parent custody court when you can just get a lawyer and sue for custody, it's a hell of a lot more complicated than that, and sorry to Curtis' lawyer friend but having a lawyer on the case ain't gonna do jack shit for Rene. And the whole "I need supervised visits because I'm a bad person" is SUCH BULLSHIT because supervised visits are the standard for literally months until they can really establish the child will be safe. Like no, don't give me that crap. And then of course when I finished Arrow for some reason I wanted to piss myself off even more so I watched this week's Chicago Justice, and haha, omg this show is actually going to be the death of me because it's like they literally do zero research on anything they're talking about. They barely even mentioned the juvenile justice system tonight even though they were dealing with teenagers the whole time (especially one who was fucking 13???? Yeah good luck trying to get a 13 year old tried in adult court, this ain't Wisconsin) except for a throwaway line like "he had some juvenile charges and spent some time in the JDC." Um. Excuse me? JDC? I'm assuming you want to say juvenile detention center, except that's not a thing. You could be talking about the JTDC, or JDOC, but JDC? Not a thing. Like really, how much effort would it have taken to find that out? Not much. And then beyond all their legal bs is their fucking plots that are also unrealistic and off the fucking wall. Shutting off people's cell phones? Are you serious? That would never get granted, and that entire thing had like nothing to do with the actual main plot of solving the case, it was just there as a pretty distraction, like their bs stalker suicide murder case last year that would never have made it passed a grand jury ffs. At least they did timing better, because they weren't time jumping from investigation to trial, it was happening in the same time frame so there weren't those awkward jumps in time that they're really bad at communicating. And then of course they had to use the "get the witness to break on the stand" trope which is seriously the most overused thing ever and I'm so sick of it, not to mention him banging on the gun means jack shit about a murder charge. Also at 15 there's a solid chance they'll leave him in juvenile court so you may not even get that case, buddy. And the "I flipped the defense table" story was SUCH bs like yeah right that definitely never happened lol. I really don't know why I keep watching this show, but I may be bailing sooner or later if it continues to drive me up the wall like this. It's not like I don't have other shit to watch (like Iron Fist, which I still get around to watching). But yeah, after that ended I didn't turn anything else on and let the news run while I did some shit and then the news turned into a friends episode and suddenly I really didn't want to go to bed lol but I made myself because I have to. 6:30 am wake up tomorrow, but hey, free food from the government, so I'm not complaining all that much. So that's it for me tonight. Goodnight dudes. Stay chill.
